I Will Never Stop Putting Memes in My Stories

halfway through your book, you realize it’s no longer the story you thought it was, and now you’re stuck with either:

a) sticking to your original genre even though the plot is screaming for something else (like the time your lighthearted rom-com turned into a murder mystery halfway through), OR

b) fully leaning into the new genre and hoping the audience can handle your unhinged tonal shift (like, yes, it was enemies to lovers, but now there’s a dragon war subplot).

genres are fake. write the book that keeps you up at night.
