30 Day Comic Book Challenge

Day 02 - Your Favorite Character -

Batman was my first comic book, but Superman still is my favorite character, im such a mark for him. Anyone that has ever played him throughout the years has played him perfectly, From George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, to Tom Welling, Henry Cavill, and Tyler Hoechlin. Even Superman: The Animated Series, Tim Daly gave him life and is synonymous with Kevin Conroy voice acting who voiced for Batman. I always thought that this guy is already an alien and his costume is Clark Kent and I loved that about his origin story. As a kid I would sometimes have my undies outside of my shorts and put on a towel around my neck and jump from the couch and try to save people. Or as I talked about on the podcast, fight with one of my wrestling buddies and fly off the couch to do an elbow drop, brotherrr and then get taken to the hospital because I sprained my elbow. I love the mythology and have grown to understand the history of the type of kryptonites. I love everything about Superman mythos is all im saying.

#30 - "Your Choice"

I am very fond of the second arc protagonists. They are my favorite collective of plot focus characters, which may be evident by the fact that I've been drawing them more than any other in this challenge. They are a very charming group, even if a few possible character connections are vastly underdeveloped (Moon and Turtle, Winter and Turtle, and Winter and Kinkajou could probably form very strong bonds if they were explored).

The flipside of fondness is usually the formation of strong opinions. I think about these guys a lot. One thing I initially thought was fine, but then struck me as strange on a revisit was the ending of Moonwatcher's book. You have the group (sans Winter), who previously struggled to accept Moon for her unintentionally invasive powers, ostensibly overcome their mistrust of her and solidify their respective bonds with her. Kinkajou in particular tells her that, because she makes no secret of her thoughts anyway, it doesn't matter to her that Moon can read her mind. Up to there it is all very wholesome and heartwarming. Moonwatcher then decides to give them an out, sharing the secret of Skyfire as a way to block her powers. This is a good and very noble gesture, really showing her trustworthiness and respect for their privacy here.

But then they actually take her up on that offer, right after stating they are over their misgivings. I get why they do it--Moonwatcher's uncontrollable power is really inconvenient and annoying to be around--but backtracking 5 seconds later makes their previous declaration of acceptance ring a bit hollow. If I could make a choice here, I would really have liked this to turn into a long-running character arc for the group, where they gradually learn to trust Moon and eventually decide that they don't need the Skyfire anymore, taking it off for good. And Moon in turn could work on refining control over her power so she can be around her friends without accidentally reading every thought. Maybe all of that could have been a scene in the arc 2 finale. But at the very least I would have liked for Kinkajou to stick with her original declaration and reject the Skyfire outright, signaling to Moon that--contrary to her mother's words--the powers are not a curse and that she doesn't need to be ashamed of them.

I guess here is an idea for potential fanfiction: Make them chuck the Skyfire in the bin. Let Moon see that her friends choose to hang out with her even if they can't block her powers.

These are some of my ideas for a possible season five of the Batman (1966) tv series. I already shared my post with ideas for season four of the tv show. So now i felt it's only fair to try and share all the stuff i had written down here. I think I really took inspiration from some post online where I read about how the League of Assassins was nearly in the Batman '66 comic book. And so that led to me taking Batman in the direction of some sort of spy adventure series for a while. I did manage to work in Man Bat though, so that's a positive for me.

Season 5: Season Five is almost all about Batman on his own. Robin and Batgirl make cameos occasionally, but Batman is now the leading star. Since Madge Blake would definitely be dead by Season 5, I'd have Aunt Harriet be written out too, and I'd replace her with Leslie Thompkins. I know this would all be a comic or animated show if adapted now, but I still want to have some small amount of realism.

This season would be split into two halves, just like the last season. Part One involves the first 30-40 episodes, and it focuses on the League of Assassins. It takes Batman all across the globe, playing the role of international man of mystery. And Part Two (which involves the last 30 or so episodes) focuses more on Batman back in Gotham. The show would get a bit more back to its lighthearted roots, but there'd still be elements of deep drama to the storytelling.

Episodes 1 and 2: Batman (now dealing with the loss of Robin, who left for University) ends up having to face off against The Riddler all alone. In a parallel to how season one of show opened with a dramatic episode involving The Riddler, this episode would reuse that theming to try and show the new direction the show would be taking.

Episodes 3 and 4: Batman deals with The Archer, an old villian who tried to act like a modern day Robin Hood. Now he's gotten even more blatant with his thefts, and he tries to rob Wayne Manor of all it's valuables (since he learned the Manor had less occupants since Dick Grayson and his Aunt left). Batman still manages to stop him, but The Archer really puts up a strong challenge.

Episode 5: Shortly after dealing with The Riddler and The Archer, Batman ends up running into Man Bat for the very first time. It's very much a one for one retelling of Man Bat's first comic story, including the fact that Man Bat escapes Batman's clutches at the very last moment.

Episodes 6 and 7: Batman runs into The Penguin and Egghead, both of whom are competing to steal different rare bird and/or egg themed objects. Batman goes out on the hunt for both of them, and he does eventually manage to capture them. But batman never even realized that these villians had more to their rivalry than just wanting the same objects. No, they were competing for the rights to join the League of Assassins, a prestigious criminal guild looking to expand it's tendrils into Gotham. Lola Lasagne was the one who came to them with the proposal, and she was using them as pawns in the league's schemes. Since she escaped punishment here, she'll be back to menace Batman some other time.

Episode 8: Batman encounters Man Bat again, and this time finally managed to subdue him. But is this really the end of the Man Bat story? Not quite, as there's one more part. But we won't get to see that part until after one more story, sad to say.

Episodes 9, 10 and 11: Batman runs into The Scarecrow, who's looking to break into a science lab to expand the power range of his fear toxin. Batman is too late to stop him, as The Scarecrow successfully tests the fear toxin on him. That's why this is a three parter, by the way. It's because part two is just one long flashback, finally introducing us to all the core events in Bruce Wayne's past. Losing his parents, being raised by his Uncle Phillip, deciding to become batman, etc. But in the end, Batman still manages to defeat Scarecrow.

Episode 12: The conclusion to the long Man Bat saga, wherein Batman has to cure both Kirk Langstrom and his wife Francine of their Bat transformations and mental afflictions. By crashing their wedding, Batman successfully manages to get to them in time to save them from themselves.

Episodes 13 and 14: The Cluemaster and Marsha, Queen of Diamonds team up to commit a series of deadly crimes involving magic and puzzling clues. Batman is almost defeated and killed by this mad team, but he eventually manages to capture them. And once he has them in custody, he learns that they were brought together by the League of Assassins, who had many agents and allies in the Gotham area. Marsha and Cluemaster refuse to rat on their allies, besides giving Batman a clue to investigate in London.

Episode 15: Batman takes off on an cruise to London, little dreaming that Catwoman (Julie Newmar) is also on the boat, planning to hold it for ransom. Her and Batman end up getting in a scuffle over it, but by the time their fight is over, the boat has been utterly ruined. So Batman sends her to jail, and then prepares to take a flight to London instead of a cruise.

Episode 16: With Batman leaving for London, someone has to guard Gotham. So Robin and Batgirl return to Gotham to guard it while Batman is away. While in Gotham, they end up having to deal with both The Joker and The Bookworm, who are competing to steal a rare copy of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, which has recently been acquired by a famous antiquarian living in Gotham.

Episodes 17 and 18: Arriving in London, Batman ends up fighting off against some old enemies of his: Lord Marmaduke Ffogg and Lady Penelope Peasoup. It turns out that they're the ones responsible for testing Cluemaster and Marsha to see if they were worthy to join the League. But before Batman can get to them, they distract him by sending The Puzzler (yet another of the league's operatives) to bait him into a trap.

The Puzzler leads Batman to a castle near Loch Ness, where him and another of the league's operatives, the young socialite known as Lady Ophelia Keswick bait Batman into a trap involving illusions and drugged food. Batman manages to escape from their trap in the castle dungeons, but he's too late to capture Lord Ffogg and Lady Peasoup. They escaped. But at least Batman can take The Puzzler and Lady Keswick to Scotland Yard. Then it's back to the United States, where Batman has to await news of the League's activities.

Episodes 19 and 20: Batman returns to Gotham City, only to find it's now been taken over by the combined forces of Nora Clavicle, Poison Ivy and The Siren. Turns out Nora Clavicle was an agent of the League too, and now she's planning an extra special trap for Batman and his allies. Locking him in jail and manipulating most of the city's women, it ends up falling on Batgirl and Batwoman's soldiers to save the day and rescue Gotham from the evils of these three villainesses.

Episodes 21 and 22: Robin comes to visit Batman (since he's gotten a two week break from university), and he shows up just in time to help Batman defeat Two Face and his newest scheme to cleave gotham in two (so everything is going to be deformed, like him).

Episode 23 and 24: Lola Lasagne is back, and this time she's gotten Catman to do her will. She's persuaded him that killing Batman would be the perfect way for him to get into the League of Assassins, and the League would be glad to let him continue his illicit big game hunting. So Catman gets involved, and ends up going after Batman, Robin and Catwoman. This is when Batman finally tells Robin about The League of Assassins. After this adventure, Robin goes back to University, leaving Batman alone once again in Gotham.

Episode 25: Batman and Man-Bat end up teaming up to defeat the Getaway Genius (who's broken off from Killer Moth since we last saw him). Only through their combined skills do Batman and Man-Bat manage to bring this crook to justice.

Episodes 26 and 27: Batman has finally found an informant willing to reveal the whereabouts of Lord Marmaduke Ffogg and Lady Penelope Peasoup to him, but just as he gets the info his informant is killed. Now Batman has to stop the last, seemingly desperate scheme of the League of Assassins: Sending Deadshot (one of the world's best hired assassins) out to challenge him. But Batman still defeats him, and then he heads off for Europe to find Lord Ffogg.

Episodes 28, 29 and 30: Batman heads to a small country nestled in the Balkans, where he finally manages to confront Lord Ffogg and Lady Peasoup. But before he can defeat them, they reveal their new ally in the form of Doctor Cassandra Spellcraft and her husband, Cabala. Yes, these two old foes of Batman were also members of the League of Assassins, and Batman has walked right into their trap!

Now trapped in a dungeon, unmasked and at the league's mercy, Batman ends up meeting Talia al Ghul (played by Sophia Loren), daughter of Ra's al Ghul, the head of The League. Teaming up with her, the two of them successfully manage to escape from the dungeon and confront our four antagonists. But in the middle of the scuffle, Lord Ffogg attacks Talia with a blade. And in retaliation, Talia shoots Lord Ffogg in cold blood.

After Batman comforts her for a little while, Talia leaves without a word. She leaves Batman to report Lord Ffogg's death, and to get the other three criminals to jail safely. But now that Batman has made himself known to the highest echelons of this secret society, it's only a matter of time before their leader comes looking for him…

Kaiju Weeks in Review (September 10-30, 2023)

I adore Godzilla Final Wars, but it's a movie with an identity crisis, unsure whether it wants to be headlining a Toho Champion Festival or mesmerizing American teenagers at a mid-aughts multiplex. @spacehunter-m's Final Wars 2004: The Year We Make Corn-Tack gives it a strong tug in the first direction, whittling the runtime down to 77 minutes and replacing most of the music and sound effects. She was inspired by Space Warriors 2000, of all things; as she put it, both films are "largely comprised of nonstop, monotonous action." As in that bizarro Ultraman compilation film, the kaiju trash-talk each other. It makes you wonder why Ryuhei Kitamura didn't at least bring back the speech bubbles from Godzilla vs. Gigan. Kaiju fan edits are rare, and this is in a class all by itself. Download it here.

Shigeru Kayama's novelizations of Godzilla (1954) and Godzilla Raids Again are out—hopefully the first of many to come. My copy only arrived on Saturday, so I haven't had the chance to read the whole thing yet, but I've made it through Godzilla. It's interesting to see Kayama, who wrote the initial treatment, take another swing at the story after the film was finished. He puts back moments like Godzilla eating a cow and attacking a lighthouse, and is also more overt with the wartime allusions. There's an incredible moment where Dr. Yamane muses that studying Godzilla and learning his secrets could be Japan's way of redeeming itself after "caus[ing] a great deal of trouble to people throughout the world." Note that these are novella-length, so much less in-depth than the novelizations of American Godzilla films you might be used to (Godzilla Raids Again is less than 80 pages). The book ends with an afterword by translator Jeffrey Angles contextualizing the tales.

Godzilla: War for Humanity continues to be a standout IDW miniseries. There's a new and very weird monster in the second issue, plus a no-nonsense Mothra (she tries to recruit Godzilla to fight Zoospora by shooting him in the back of the head and dragging him into the ocean in front of Minilla).

I've also got to mention the solicitation for another Godzilla Rivals installment, due December 20. Nola Pfau is writing, Megan Huang is illustrating.

Jen Onça is not excited to start her new, fast-paced fast-food career at Minilla Burger, but she'd much prefer a mundane day to the sudden return of Megalon! The monster brings destruction, trapping Jen in a forgotten lab deep beneath the restaurant with only the half-built form of Jet Jaguar to help her get out! She must repair the robotic defender to save herself and the city, but first she needs to escape the rubble trapping her in this tense adventure!

Yuzo the Biggest Battle in Tokyo, Yoshikazu Ishii's follow-up to Attack of the Giant Teacher, has also been picked up by SRS Cinema. No release details yet. I can't really speak to the film either, since it screened at the same time as Yumiko Shaku's panel at G-Fest, but as you can see from the poster, it's set during the pandemic.

The GAMERA -Rebirth- Gyaos has joined Godzilla Battle Line as an unusual sort of swarm unit. Your first summon of the match calls forth two sub-adults, and by the fifth summon you're sending out two sub-adults and three adults, still for four energy. They're probably the best swarm in the game, though still highly vulnerable to AOE units like Godzilla '01. I'm having fun with them in the Challenge Battles.

Notzilla, one of the sharpest kaiju comedies out there, is unexpectedly getting the graphic novel treatment. Mitch Teemley is adapting his own screenplay, with art by Zumart Putra. The comic is already finished, although I'm not clear on how folks who didn't back the Kickstarter (which wrapped on September 11) will get it. Useless trivia: the terrific cover above (one of four) is by Ben Dunn, who wrote the How to Draw Manga book I poured over in middle school.

After Troll shattered Netflix streaming records (according to Netflix), it's not super surprising that the company wants a sequel. Priority one: coming up with a title that's not Troll 2. Screenwriter Espen Aukan and director Roar Uthaug will both return.

Toy highlights of the past few weeks:

After confusing everyone by teasing its silhouette the day before April Fools', Tamashii has fully unveiled an S.H.Monsterarts Godzilla '72, a rare Showa figure from the line. It comes with two heads, one of them bloodied (see above). Due at the end of February.

After finally running out of ways to repaint their mold of Hedorah's Perfect Stage, Bandai is making a Movie Monster Series figure of the kaiju's Landing Stage. A Godzilla Store exclusive, it'll be released October 25.

After over two years, Funko is releasing a trio of Godzilla Singular Point Pops. Hopefully they go all-out with this show—it's not like there's any other plausible way for a Satomi Kanahara figure to exist.

Prom-posal

Summary: The Queen of the Nerds and King Steve have been secretly dating. Prom is coming up and he only has one girl on his mind

Trope: King Steve x Nerd!Reader; established relationship, but was enemies to lovers

Steve was freaking out. He is car going over what he wants to say to you, how he wants to ask you. He was asking you to Prom. You and Steve have been secretly dating since the summer. You met during chemistry class last year, you tutor him, it was the beautiful enemy to lover trope. He’s king Steve you are the queen of nerds in high school that means arch enemies, for some reason he wanted to impress you so he would talk about his wealth and his basketball skills you saw it has him bragging and being self-center. That starts the war of snarky comments at each other, from lifestyle to the way you dress. He would tease you for your love for comics books and Star Wars. He would tease you for wearing glasses. He would tease you for making periodic table jokes that you only laughed at. Yet you were the first person he would tell when he got an A, yet when he needed to a tutor in math he asks for you, yet he would always look for you at prep rallies. Something came over him the day he got his final grades back there was only As and Bs on his report card, he made a b line for you knowing you would be in the science room. He found you a shove it in your face before you would yell at him, he kissed you, you didn’t pull a way you brought him closer all your frustration you had for each other left during the make out session. After he asked you on a date and the rest was history. You kept it a secret knowing Hawkins would blow up if two different cliques were to be together, also the relationship was just you and Steve, well you Steve and Dustin. 

Steve was going to ask you at lunch in front of everyone, he was tired of being a secret. He wanted to hold your hand at school, he wanted to kiss you in front of everyone, he wanted you to wear his leather man jacket on game days, he especially wanted to show you off in front of the nerds. He knew how the nerds felt about you, you were their queen, they all had fallen for you the same way he had fallen, your smartness, your wits, your beauty, you. Steve had overheard one of the more good-looking nerds, Mikey, saying that he wanted to ask you to prom and to be his girlfriend that made his blood boil, and he pushed the kid into his locker to relive some anger. After school he called the one he could trust the most Dustin, also he is always a nerd. Dustin helped Steve make his poster, Steve told him that he loved your nerdy jokes, the ones that he never got and only made you laugh. So, they came up with Are you copper and tellurium because you are cute Be My Date PROM, using the periodic elements, he knew you would love it.  

All the girls were freaking out when they saw Steve holding a poster, "Omg." Who is he going to ask? It must be me right. Their dreams were quickly shut down when he walked right past them, everyone followed who was King Steve asking he walked by the jock table, the cheerleaders, the popular girls, he was going all the way to the end of the cafeteria.  

You hadn’t noticed the commotion, you were too busy with your head in a textbook, you were helping Mary with her math homework, you didn’t notice the shadow that cast over you or the look of fear in the other’s eyes. Someone clearing their throat caught your attention, Steve. He turned the poster around to face you, everyone gasps reading He was asking the Queen of the Nerds your eyes widen this was such a pubic things “Y/N will you go the prom with me” before you could answer people started to laugh “Nice joke Harrington” is it a joke you thought, but you found your answer in his eyes they were so sincere practically screaming at you saying NOT A JOKE. “yes” you answered his smile reached his eyes then leaned in for a kiss, more gasps were heard. “No more hiding he whispered you nodded “Can I sit” he asked pointing to the seat next to you; you moved your bag and motion him to seat. He put his arm around you, everyone's eyes were still on you both “Yes we are dating move on with your lives” you exclaimed scoffs were heard by girls everyone still shock on what just happened. “Are you guys really together” Mikey asked “Yep she is all mine” Steve smirked kissing your forehead. “So, my next game...”

I've been drawing for 6 years now, but it's been a while since it was not active learning drawing. I want to be better for me, but also for my future art school. 🌱🌱

Sooo I decided to do a lil art challenge. Everyday, I'll draw for 30 minutes at least with a theme for each month.

Every drawing I'll do is for learning how to draw again, kinda. Like a total reset! 🦔

WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT EXCHANGE

Tis the season of giving and the Magnolia Inn will be opening its doors once again to host their annual White Elephant party. So, for everyone willing to brave the cold, get dressed up in your ugliest sweaters, bring a gift and see what sort of present you might be able to steal by the end of the night.

HIGHLIGHTS

Safiye asked Kaye if they were holding bets & Kaye starts acting like a bookie- Saf puts 20 down on Dilan & Poppy, Leyla puts 20 down on Dilan, Rio puts 30 down on Dilan, Kaye puts 20 down on Elif noting that their mood seems atrocious to which Elif overhears. Kaye ups their bid on Elif to 50 and offers to split with Elif if Elif wins. while Linden & Song bet that Todd can in fact fit a whole little pie into his mouth at once.

Suresh makes a comment when he opens a gift about how Jake turned down going back to a hotel room with him. Kaye's opinion of Jake has risen significantly since finding out he'd turned down Suresh's hotel room.

Rangi opens a pet rock and names it Dwayne.

Rangi's gift is opened by JC. It is comic books that were collected for Mason. This gift will get stolen down the road.

Suresh mentions fucking some blocks from the Willy Wonka experience back in the day and cringes at Jonah's sweater.

Linden opens Leyla's haunted Labubus gift. Todd names the haunted Labubu Gizmo. Only for the possessed Labubu to disappear.

Dilan starts talking about how there is a reason Elif isn't a therapist anymore and doesn't have a job because people won't talk about her feelings as Elif is sitting there drowning herself in red wine. She challenges Dilan to say one more thing about her to which Dilan tells her to 'fuckin' chill'. The two girls flip each other the bird.

Poppy calls Linden a 'surface level bitch'.

Ben realizes the price of a Birkin Bag.

Dilan opens Ronnie's number (a gift that will be stolen) and tosses it at Ronnie and Elif saying she doesn't need it. Elif still pissed at Dilan tugs Dilan's hair and tells her that she should say thank you when receiving a present before telling Kaye that Kaye won the bet and she was the first to loose her chill. Dilan screams and pours a bottle of alcohol all over Elif. Elif then sweeps her foot under Dilan's to trip her to the ground. Dilan throws her heels at Elif and then tells her that she would gut her the same way she did Hande and would not feel bad about it if Elif tries her again. Nyra tries to intervene. JC starts to jump in too. Nico steps in too and warns Dilan to back off.

Gizmo, the haunted labubu found a knife from the food table and is now flinging through the air towards Todd with it. Todd ducks down in-time, oblivious, but he knows a thing or two about being an object ghost and is sympathetic.

Elif moves to go sit back down with her claws raised only to mouth to Todd that Labubu might love to meet a certain brunette.

Linden is a typical sibling saying "pot meets kettle" back at Poppy. They go back and forth a bit, before Poppy crumbles up cookies and tosses them in Linden's face saying "fuck you asshole." Linden responds with "Oh no. Not the cookies. Whatever will I do with myself" in a deadpanned sarcastic tone before rolling his eyes at his twin. Poppy uses audible inundation on her brother. JC tries to tell Poppy and Linden to control themselves. Poppy tells JC to stay in his lane. JC calls Poppy stunted ("You know what? Fine. I'm not twelve. You enjoy being...stunted? Angry? Whatever.). Linden taunts Poppy ( "Yeah the cookies aren't your style, feel like lighting something on fire?") only to have magic used on him. Linden tells Poppy she reminds him of Alyssa. Poppy says she no longer has a twin as far as she's concerned for him saying that. Linden says she's like Alyssa again. Poppy cries.

Rohan helped Todd imprison the living toy beneath a salad bowl.

Sav steals Rio's gift. Rio tells her to go politely go fuck herself. Aaliyah mutters under her breath, "If any vampires start fights, I'm committing a crime." Sav apologies. They agree to hang out afterward.

Devrim tries to go play candy crush in the bathroom but is denied.

Jas scoots to the other side of the room away from the haunted labubu whose thoughts she can annoyingly hear. Gizmo stabs Ken. Ken lets them. Dilan & Leyla scream. Dilan shouts to throw Gizmo in the fire. Rohan says they should see if Poppy can exorcise Gizmo. Rio says if Ken wanted to be stabbed, he should have just asked. Ken points out that Leyla wouldn't like it if she tried to stab him. Rio thinks Leyla would give her a free pass.

Gizmo tries to stab Leyla. Ken holds onto Gizmo instead and gets stabbed again. Todd screams out in defense of Gizmo not wanting Gizmo to get thrown in the fire.

Devrim begins playing uno on his phone with Rio. He notices Ken get stabbed and frowned.

Dilan and Ken make plans to burn Gizmo later in a fire.

Jake is trying to strike up a business deal and convince Kaye to get a tattoo amongst the chaos.

Leyla gets stabbed by Gizmo.

Savannah opens the gift that is Mr. Sniffles Wigglesworth the Third, the bunny that thinks he's a vampire. The bunny bites Savannah, before biting Rangi. Mr. Sniffles runs around the room bitting any non vampires and tries to launch itself especially at the wolves snarling its little bunny fangs.

Devrim looks up as Dilan screams, then gasps in horror as he sees Leyla has been stabbed.

Nico gets out the first aid kit, which is actually labelled "for White Elephant" and tries to help people.

Dilan says "I'll gladly be the villain" as she tosses Gizmo into the fire. Todd cries out 'no!" Rio, putting down her UNO, jumps up with a bottle of tequila and splashes the alcohol into the fire to accelerate it and ensure the gizmo was well and truly barbequed.

The resurrected Todd, cursed to wander the Earth peeking beyond the veil he once walked, is somewhat comforted seeing the manifestation of Gizmo's possessor near the fire. Ashes to ashes.

The bunny has bitten Rohan. Todd now has a bloody gash on his finger as well. Jonah gets bite by Sniffles. Bri scolds Sniffles.

Rio thought about burning Mr. Sniffles for a half second but decided against it. Dilan and Jake were appalled that Rio would even think about burning the bunny. Especially Bri who is horrified anyone would want to burn her gift. Rio admits she is scared of the bunny.

Ronnie opens the mistletoe gift and kisses Elif before twirling her hair around her finger and asking around 'who's next?'. Elif goes off to kiss someone else herself.

Ralph opens Sav's gift that unbenowst to everyone (Savannah included), it contains fae food. Mr. Sniffles eats the cookie and stops biting anyone. Only to begin to grow the size of half the room while Jake shrinks down the size of a teacup.Rio grabs her tequila bottle and jumps behind the bar to hide from the fluffy monstrocity. Jacob begins to screams, "TURN ME BACK. TURN ME BACK." Except his voice just sounds like little squeaks because he's so small.

Linden starts throwing his bite-coins at the giant bunny.

Bri snatches one of Ralph's cookies and shoves it in Sniffle's mouth, watching sniffles shrink back down and curl up in her hands. Jake sees Bri feed the bunny more cookie then it turns back to its normal size. He then begins to squeak at Todd and Ernie to give him more cookie.

Ken asks Nico if he can siphon him. The giant bunny recedes and Nico turns to Ken, and looks down where he was stabbed too and agrees.

Rangi and Kitty realize they both have December Bdays.

Jake eats a cookie and grows huge. Jake screams as he begins growing and growing and growing. He fears he will never stop until, finally, his head bumps the roof. Dilan gets bumped out of her chair by Jake's big ass body. Everyone runs around screaming as Jake's body crushes him. Nico tries to go find Jas before she gets smushed. Jonah has his face buried in Jonah's shoulder, wishing this all would end. Suresh offers to find a nice airplane hangar for Giant Jake to live in. Ernie is surprised at Song's reaction trying to leave before he gets squished. He would've thought it was Song's dream to watch Jake "grow huge'". Devrim runs out of the way to avoid being smooshed by a giant witch and uses it as a distraction to escape to the bathroom to play candy crush. Elif and Rangi flee for cover and make out as everyone thinks they're going to die by Jake's rear end.

Jake hits his head on the ceiling again as he tries to move. "I can't live this way... I don't want to live in an airplane hanger." Jake slowly lowers himself on the ground, away from people but knocking some chairs and tables over as he tries to avoid hitting his head on the ceiling again. Eventually he gets in a, mostly, comfy position on his side. More charries run screaming for cover. There is now a hole in the ceiling of the Magnolia Inn's Lobby from Giant Jake's body.

Jake returns to normal height. Suresh is still not over the Campfire Retreat and makes a dig about it: "Just feed the bloke the bloody biscuit. Amusing as I find this. Not nice to be publicly humiliated, is it, witches?" He seems annoyed Jake didn't lose a few meters of height and let him be the tall one around here.

Linden hits on Jake again.

Gia snuggles with Mr. Sniffles back in her seat.

Savannah opens up mood enhancing fae drinks that have been concealed to look like regular drinks. She offers them up to people in the room, still bleeding from all the bunny bites. Xavier gets sad after drinking it about Gizmo, asks the witches to resurrect Gizmo and begins to sob. Ernie sips on his drink and begins to feel soft, vulnerable, and most important, fruity. Out of nowhere, Devrim begins to feel sad. The emotion swells until he burst into tears. Rangi drank lust and is hitting on Ronnie and Savannah. Todd is also crying about Gizmo but didn't even drink anything.

Ralph and Ernie have an adorable gay moment where they talk about his pornstar past.

Rio hits on Jake too.

Xavier sobs over opening a toothbrush.

Efe stole the black card to use to renovate the entire library for the human kids of Lunar Cove. Ben wipes a tear from his eye at the sentiment. Dilan pouts over the black card.

Rio unwraps Gia's haunted doll and is horrified (the doll will later be stolen by Bexley who had never had a doll growing up only to be stolen back by Gia out of spite from having her gift stolen).

The dentist is horrified at opening a box of peach O's candy. He regrets not stealing back his own toothbrush.

Song takes Mr. Sniffles from Gia. His smile only growing in amusement as Mr. Sniffles bites him.

Suresh makes a deal to take the toothbrush so that he can get to go into the VIP area at Sinners whenever he wants. Bexley doesn't like the sound of that deal and will be requesting to not work the VIP room for a while. She doesn't like the grumpy fae man.

Jake reminds Rio of how Rio friendzoned him saying that Rio is right and they're better off as friends. Rio is now in a foul mood.

Frankie steals Bri's vampire bottle opener from her. For the third year in the row, the vampire gift Jonah got/Dilan replicated, is stolen from her. Bri's eyes go dark as Frankie takes her gift. In a rage blackout, she lunges at Frankie and flashes her fangs. Poppy intervenes. Bri shoves Poppy before realizing what she had done.

Poppy calls to Meena and Aaliyah saying “‘Meena and Aaliyah would either of you like to handle this? Because I’m about to if you don’t.” Jake came back in from the hall, wiping a few tears from his eyes as discreetly as he could. All the salt watered dried up when he saw Bri shove Poppy. "Hey!" He yelled at the vampire. "Back off!"

Aaliyah grabs Bri by the neck. Meena is pissed at everyone given that she can still barely walk from being bitten by a werewolf multiple times earlier on.

Ernie pulls out his phone to record. For his close friends. Ronnie comments on Bri saying she's fucking crazy in an endearing way, even if "she was a feral little monster".

Bri snarls at Jake. "You're dead. You and your sister. I don't care when or how, but it will happen," She warns, before she knocks Aaliyah's hands off of her. Holding her hands up in the air as if waiving the white flag. Jacob laughed, no humor in the sound, with his head nodding decidedly. "You threaten me and my family and there will be repercussions on your head" - threatening her back. He proceeds to call Bri a "psycho".

Xavier tells everyone they sure know how to ruin a man's birthday. Bri goes over to Xavier and mentions how its her birthday soon too to commiserate with him.

Cat cracks a joke about how if Poppy needs help throwing someone against a wall she can have her back, before looking for alcohol. Poppy says thats not how she does things anymore and how nothing productive will come from this anymore before shooting Linden a pointed look. Poppy makes a comment about how "some of us turn into our mother after all" before saying she's going to get drunk.

Billie gets her gift stolen by Bexley. Bexley steals it so Billie can get something else she might like. Billie doesn't understand this as Bexley doesn't say it out loud and steals the alcohol because she needs a drink.

Rangi overhears Bri and Xavier chatting about their bdays feeling ruined and holds her flask up and says loudly. "CHEERS TO ALL THE BIRTHDAY BITCHES!" Bri's bite down her bottom lip to stop herself from crying. Jonah tries to comfort her saying "I just wanted to make you smile...not for it end up like this. Again." which only makes her sob more. Dilan holds her as she cries. Sensing that everything was a little calmer, Rio went to sit by Bri, softly placing a hand on her arm in a gesture of awkward support.

Frankie asks Jake if she should give the gift back to Bri who she notices is crying while Jake says not to and calls Bri an "entitled asshole".

Bri looks over at Aaliyah for help given Jake is still going in on her and she was told she's not allowed to fight back.

Linden and Poppy make jabs at each other some more.

Dev's phone died.

Kitty's comic books get stolen. Kitty dies inside.

Nico checks on Meena's pain levels.

Linden tells Jake he's going home with him.

Rio asks Devrim for a ride.

Gia gives Bexley back the doll.

Cat gives Rangi the comic books back and she gives them to Kitty asking her to take good care of them for Mason.

Rangi gives Dwayne the Rock to Cat as a trade.

Everyone else goes home.

30 day no fanart challenge

this is the meat of the challenge: no fanart for 30 days (oh wow lol) 1. drawing categories/prompts instead of IP: it can be *anything*, it can be food, hobbies/professions, folklore/mythology. eg: actual taiko drums instead of taiko no tatsujin characters, cute dinosaurs instead of yoshi, cool hedgehogs instead sonic (lol) 2. IF i happen to wanna draw fanart, it's gotta be at least 100 years old (anything before 1924) eg: drawing fanart of John Tenniel's Alice (1865) and not disney Alice (1951), Albert Lynch's Joan of Arc (1903) and not Clone High Joan (2002). ps: im not sure about famous people yet, but i think ill go with the same idea that theyd have to have been dead before 1924.

here's some stuff ive drawn with that in mind, even though i hadnt stablished the challenge yet lol

why a no fanart challenge? well well well, if this isnt another post artist alley eulogy lol

here's some background feelings: after having helped promote 2 japanese food festivals and tabled on both its artist alley's, and knowing myself, and having grown up in the age of comic/book to film adaptations and the rebootprequelsequelmagaddon, it's really hard for me not to fanart, even though i trashtalk hollywood all the time for not taking risks and doing original stuff, lo and behold, i do the same. who am i to judge _anything_ when i watched all three star wars sequels in theaters and crushed on kylux for years, i was kneedeep into hannigram, i gave money to the barbenheimer industrial complex. how can i blame RGG for not letting kiryu go when i _cried legit tears of joy_ when pirate majima was announced? (granted, it's not as bad as the kiryu situation lol but this is about ma$cots, not me lol)

i love a lot of characters, a lot of stories, im always jumping from show to show, game to game, and coming back to them. but i wanna go beyond my love for other people's art and be in love with my own, now that im at a better skill and mental state. it might not resonate as much, specially at the japanese festivals im a part of, but i wanna try. and im gonna start slow, i *am* going to draw japanese food, japanese animals, and create my tiny little scenes and see what comes up. i love stickers with every fiber of my being lol so ill always have in mind that ill draw stuff that i would wanna stick on my own sketchbooks and journals. but i need to do this, at least for 30 days. who knows what will happen later, you know? a friend of mine once said that colored pencils are like sugar, and graphite pencils are like veggies. and i feel like fanart and not-fanart is the same. we love fanart, but it's not healthy to only draw fanart... also i love people who delve into IP OCs and stuff, it always seems a lot of fun. i could try that, but i think ill cut my fanart ties cold turkey and then i can figure something out, i dont know lol i could go back to d&d character sheets lol another side note: i went to film school bc i loved watching movies. i wanted to tell stories, but i had no idea how, and i didnt think i had the talent for drawing. i started studying japanese and bullet journaling, bc i had the urge to draw, and those were the mediums that were close enough to drawing i felt i could try. and then hannibal happened, i had a roommate who was learning to watercolor, and i was like, screw it, let me draw hannigram bc i love them lol ive had the opportunity to make some movies, but logistically and creatively, they never felt as good as having the spark of inspiration, sketching, linearting, painting, printing and selling these tiny ass stickers. there is some control freakness in that, sure lol but there's also a need to build confidence in my own abilities, which sadly i didnt have a space for in movie sets... anyway, ill always mourn not having spent my teens drawing, but im making my kid self proud now <3 also i might post my new stickers at some point, i still havent made a pinned post lol but someday, you know so yeah, if anyone's reading this, ty lol TLDR: if you draw, write, sculpt, whatever, anything, and you tend to do fanart, ask yourself if you're fanarting a bit too much, if there's a way of turning your love for these characters/worlds into something different and more you.

Hi! My name’s Chloe! (I suppose the username tipped you off to that, but I digress.) I am a 30-something trans-femme demi-sapphic woman living, begrudgingly, in the American MidWest.

I am a massive nerd (pop-culture, DC Comics, Music, among others), and well… as you can see also, my chosen last-name is Danvers… so I’m not even gonna lie when I say that my personal inspiration for the kind of person I want to be is Kara (Zor-El) Danvers herself. [Doesn’t hurt that I dumb-lucked into finding my personal Cat Grant… tis the silver-est of linings.💜☀️]

I am a fledgling writer, though I have largely been in a 10ish year slump of writers block… currently trying to claw my way out of it starting with what has been my brain’s salvation these last few years: fan-fiction.

And in that vein, I figure, how better to get to know me, than to talk about my favorite ships, and why they resonate with me. So, let’s do this. :)

Bechloe: My first ship, even though I didn’t realize it at first. I’ve come a long way as an individual, so much so I watched Pitch Perfect the first time and saw 0 sapphic subtext between Beca and Chloe. (That is VERY much not that case now, I assure you. Lolz) So, why them? I’m a sucker for a grumpy/sunshine dynamic (we will revisit this later, I assure you. Lolz) between two women, and especially watching the sunshine warm up the grump a little. ❤️

Also doesn’t hurt this ship’s chances that this Chloe is THE Chloe that my name comes from… aspirationally, that kind of girl is inside me, but life has made me a bit more of a Beca, if that makes sense. Lolz

SuperCat: I could go on for days about them. Once again, Grumpy/ Sunshine, and I mean, I am literally a Danvers, so… lolz. Suffice it to say, they are a pair put on my radar by ‘My’ Cat…. And I have not shut up about them ever since. Seriously, the fact my partner still encourages it is a Raosend. Lolz I won’t go into much more detail, because my writing will do that for them, in spades.. whether it’s SuperCat, or AstraCat…. (No, not Aunt Astra… but consider this a tease for my SG-rewrite. ;) )

Chenrich: “Life is Strange: True Colors” is my favorite game, of all time. I’ve platinumed it, and I’m working on the perameters of a playthrough that gives me different challenges. But all that being said, when I see Steph and got her vibe, I burst out in a laugh and called it my “discount Beca Mitchell dating simulator”.. and I was not disappointed. ❤️ (btw, my canon ending? Alex and Steph stay in Haven Springs, and get the Black Lantern and turn it into a nerd bar… maybe one day I’ll write it. Who knows? Lolz)

Avalance: this is my semi-unexpected one… my brain is almost always in National City.. but these two, they grew on me, so hard. It doesn’t hurt that my partner broke my brain by telling me she saw a lot of Sara in me… and it took me years to finally see it too. (Though I will always, shamelessly, be a Kara… lolz) Co-Captains for life, babe. 💜☀️

Alright, that just may be enough to prolly not tell you all that much. But I’m an open book! And my asks are actually open now. Lolz

Alright, one more random thing, because why not? So… when I world build, I sometimes go to weird tangents… like, I may not have fleshed-out plot-lines… but I have 3 seasons of villian progression, and I’ve created the ice cream flavor made for her by a grateful National Citizen… (it’s “Swirl From The Stars”.. Fic is a lifesaver, swear to Rao. ☀️)
