Check out the Emmy nominee predictions …
https://variety.com/lists/2023-emmys-predictions/
This lists the predictions of the 8 nominees per category and their predicted winner.
Just look at the drama category —
https://variety.com/feature/2023-emmys-drama-series-predictions-1235560705/
Note the loooong list of entries (Big Sky being one of them).
I don’t see The Boys or anyone from the boys being predicted as a nominee. If they do get voted — that WOULD be amazing bc the members of the TV academy voted for that entry enough times to score a nomination seat.
But otherwise, is anyone really surprised that Kripke would submit Jensen (his “boy” and boner for crush) for consideration. And really wouldn’t surprise me if Jensen submitted his entry himself. $300 is pocket change for him or Kripke, and a lot of actors submit their own entries for consideration.

Lead Actor and Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Predictions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It looks like nearly every show that falls remotely under the drama category is listed as a consideration, and it's some tough competition this year. These predictions seem fairly accurate. Plus, like others have shared, TB season 3 wasn't as good as the first two, and it aired shortly after the previous years Emmy submissions closed, which means it's not as prevalent in the minds of voters. I'll definitely be surprised if there are any major nominations for The Boys.
(Not surprised at all either Jensen or Kripke added his name to the list. Thankfully, the other actors were also added, otherwise it might look like even more favoritism that I'm sure TB actors would love. /s/)
(But why aren't Walker and WIndy on the list of possible Dramas?)

THE IDOL
I was in doubt to post about it, I don’t want jinxed lol, but well to be the only two to be considered is something…
EMMY predictions doesn’t mean THEY WILL BE, just to be clear, but critics make a “bet” on something they see/saw from the show/actors.

2023 Emmy Hopes and Predictions
Best Drama Series:
Prediction: Succession
Rooting For: Succession
Best Actor in a Drama Series:
Prediction: Bob Odenkirk (Given the amount of nominations and lack of awards Better Call Saul and Bob Odenkirk have received, I could see them giving him one for the final season- as a sort of overall achievement nod).
Rooting For: Kieran Culkin
Best Actress in a Drama Series:
Prediction: Sarah Snook
Rooting For: Sarah Snook
Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series:
Prediction: Matthew McFadyen
Rooting For: Matthew McFadyen or Will Sharpe (how weird is it that this entire category is entirely split between two shows! No complaints here though, I’m a massive fan of both Succession and The White Lotus).
Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series:
Prediction: Jennifer Coolidge or Elizabeth Debicki
Rooting For: Jennifer Coolidge or J. Smith Cameron (I would love to see J. get recognized and I’m also always happy to see Jennifer win, it adds spice to otherwise slightly repetitive award shows).
Best Comedy Series:
Prediction: The Bear
Rooting For: Barry or The Bear (although it’s kind of absurd that both of these are considered comedies, especially given Barry’s last two seasons- if it’s still sorted as a comedy, you might as well put Succession in the same category).
Best Actor in a Comedy Series:
Prediction: Jeremy Allen White or Jason Sudeikis (my money’s on Jeremy Allen White, but Emmys often go to Ted Lasso).
Rooting For: Bill Hader or Jeremy Allen White
Best Actress in a Comedy Series:
Prediction: Quinta Brunson
Rooting For: Natasha Lyonne (honestly, Im a little embarrassed to admit that I haven’t seen Poker Face, I just really like Natasha Lyonne, and from what I’ve seen and heard she’s been killing it in that show).
Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series:
Prediction: Ebon Moss- Bacheach or Phil Dunster, but this one’s a little more up in the air (definitely someone from the big three- Ted Lasso, The Bear, or Abbott Elementary)
Rooting For: Anthony Carrigan or Henry Winkler. I mean no disrespect, but it’s been kinda painful for me as a Barry fan to watch these two incredible talents get passed over year after year for actors who frankly aren’t even operating on the same level as them (Ie: playing caricatures, winning for a series that doesn’t require/draw on any range, nuance, or dramatic acting). That being said, if it goes to Ebon, I’ll be genuinely delighted for him.
Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series:
Prediction: Sheryl Lee Ralph or one of the Ted Lasso ladies
Rooting For: Ayo Edebiri
Best Limited or Anthology Series:
Prediction: Beef or Dahmer
Rooting For: I’m rooting for those two as well- I thought Beef was great, and while I haven’t seen Dahmer (and am not in any way commenting on the ethics of its existence) from what I’ve read, it’s extremely well made, well acted, and does a stunning job exposing the details of the case.
Best Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or TV Movie:
Prediction: Steven Yeun
Rooting For: Evan Peters or Steven Yeun. Again, as I stated before, I thought Beef was great, and it’s hard to deny how insane Evan’s performance was.
Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or TV Movie:
Prediction: Ali Wong
Rooting For: Ali Wong, but sadly Beef is the only one I’ve seen, and I don’t really know enough about the other shows to be able to comment on them. That being said, I really admire every single one of these actresses and would be really happy to see any of them win!
**Since I’ve hardly seen any Limited Series, I won’t be doing any comments or predictions on the smaller categories here**
Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series:
Prediction: Nick Offerman
Rooting For: This is another weird category limited to two shows- The Last of Us and Succession! Both of which I love, so I’d be super happy to see any of these wonderful actors win, but especially Nick Offerman, James Cromwell, or Keivonn Montreal Woodard!
Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series:
Prediction: Melanie Lynskey
Rooting For: Hiam Abbass. This category is also totally split between The Last of Us and Succession, so same as the other weird ones, I’d be really happy for any of these actresses.
Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series:
Prediction: Pedro Pascal perhaps?
Rooting For: Jon Bernthal (but I love Pedro Pascal as much as the next person, I’d be absolutely delighted to see him win)
Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series:
Prediction: This ones sorta up in the air as well, so I’ll just go to my defaults, either Taraji P. Henson or one of the Ted Lasso ladies!
Rooting For: Becky Ann Baker
What do you guys think? As always, thanks for reading it you made it this far lol.

genloss could be nominated for an emmy!
hi ranboo enjoyers and genlosers, you may have heard but generation loss: the social experiments is predicted to be nominated for a WHOLE EMMY! for “emerging media program” in the creative arts section! the voting to choose nominees closes tonight at 10pm pst, so right now is time to promote generation loss as much as you can :D
Tumblr media
https://variety.com/lists/2023-creative-arts-emmys-predictions/emerging-media-program/ if you know anyone who has voting rights in the emmys such as family or friends, reaching out to them would be a big help! you can only vote if you are an active member of the academy, so right now the best thing is word of mouth advertisement and getting a lot of talk about genloss happening, as having a lot of buzz around the show is great for getting a nomination!
Tumblr media
again, this is not to WIN an emmy, just to be nominated! though it would be AMAZING to win an emmy, right now we just want it to be nominated! that alone would be incredible publicity for our little show and prove to ranboo how incredible their creation is :D if you see this and DONT know what generation loss: the social experiments is, this is a unique livestreamed horror/comedy experience revolving around a “hero” being kidnapped by a corrupt media studio and being forced to participate in shows, being helped by a mysterious man in a tv along the way. its a 3-part experience that was originally livestreamed on twitch with audience participation, and you can watch the archived vods here!

It was a documentary, not a series, that's why we were not satisfied because we wanted fiction, not a docuseries.
youtube
This only solidifies my POV, which I have already gone over on the Under The Table Podcast and in many previous entries on my blog, about the whole problem with S3 being in the WR. Coming from a very solid S2 and amazing S1 award season, only made matters worse, of course.
Viewers appreciate realism, as a matter of fact the kind of audience The Bear appeals to is the kinda public that digs realism and adult content, with lots of cussing, raw directorial style, fast-paced, etc. We are not the typical rom-com or even drama series audience. The Bear became a hit show back in 2022 because its eps were fast-paced, with a dramedy quality that made it original, lots of adult language, and with a hint of sexual tension that was "promising" if explored in future seasons, that at that point were not confirmed yet. S2 was ordered in July 2022 in the middle of the momentum the show was starting to get, and shot from February to April 2023, then it premiered in June 2023, only to compete now, in this award season that opened a few weeks ago at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards.
Meaning: the reason why S3 didn't work as expected, and the numbers back that up that is why they haven't released them yet, is because the writers were not able to write a BALANCED plot. Yes, it hit all the realistic marks in terms of mental health struggles and fine dining 7th circle of hell, but at the same time, it lost every other "ingredient" that it used to have. THERE IS A WAY to write the best of both worlds, and I certainly expected that coming from who I considered the best script writer out there, the sadist. And his right hand wired for romance, Miss Calo. They didn't do it. They disappointed me. They went all in with the docuseries' raw realism style of Carmy hitting rock bottom, which if you were really paying attention in S2 was nothing but PREDICTABLE → as I proved even before S3 premiered here and here but they didn't build towards a cliffhanger that left you wanting more, actually, 03X10 is altogether hard to watch, there's no balance like in FISHES 02x06, for instance, just one punch after the other, all below the belt, no comedy, no breather, just tragedy and more tragedy and more sense of doom and more PLEASE MAKE IT STOP! THAT'S IT, END THIS, PULL THE PLUG, STOP IT! etc... Like I said: No balance.
Storer only focused on Carmy's background story, but didn't give us anything we couldn't have figured out on our own anyway, he didn't explore Syd's background story, which should be a collection of gems and absolutely Sydcarmy friendly because the more we know about her, the better we will be able to figure out how will Sydcarmy happen and when (I already know when, but still) and he also focused on Tina's background story, IMO that was completely unnecessary as T is not a central character, what he showed there was also easy to guess anyway and could have been summarised in a couple of scenes, not an entire bottled episode, not when other characters are UNEXPLORED after 3 seasons. So basically, all the decisions made in terms of SCRIPT were WRONG. The acting was perfect, the direction was too, the soundtrack, the cinematography, all of it, but the foundation wasn't there because in the WR the creative decisions made for S3 were completely fucked up, we were served a docuseries as opposed to the fictional show with a realism bouquet we were watching the previous 2 seasons.
WE WANT TO WATCH FICTION, write it realistically, sure! BUT DON'T LOSE WHAT YOU HAVE SO FAR, DON'T MUTATE INTO A DOCUMENTARY OF ALL THAT'S WRONG IN THE MENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT OR IN SOCIETY OR IN THE CULINARY INDUSTRY, we already know that and if we don't, we can always tune in the motherfucking news, not FX, and certainly not Disney+. Thank you very much.

Judd Legum at Popular Information:
Donald Trump, the former president and current Republican nominee, is now a convicted felon. In the aftermath of the verdict, Trump predictably complained that the trial was "rigged." This was not particularly surprising. Trump has also claimed the 2020 election, federal employment statistics, election polls, the January 6 Committee, the media, social media companies, search results, his impeachment hearing, the Pulitzer Prize, and the Emmys were "rigged."  But, in the aftermath of the verdict, some pundits and politicians have advanced numerous arguments suggesting that Trump's convictions were illegitimate, unfair, or inconsequential. Today's Popular Information critically examines each of these arguments.
The charges against Trump were "obscure" and "nearly entirely unprecedented."
One of the most common criticisms of Trump's felony convictions is the convictions are illegitimate because similar charges have not been brought against others. Elie Honig, a former federal prosecutor and current CNN commentator, argued in a column that prosecutors "contorted the law in an unprecedented manner in their quest to snare their prey."  As Honig acknowledges, at the most basic level, this is not true. Trump was convicted of falsifying business records in the first degree. That charge, which is a felony, involves falsifying the records with the intent to commit or conceal another crime. A March 2023 analysis by Just Security found that prosecuting the falsification of business records in the first degree is "commonplace" in the New York District Attorney's office and used "to hold to account a breadth of criminal behavior from the more petty and simple to the more serious and highly organized." The analysis summarized the dozens of similar prosecutions in a 24-page document.
[...]
The charges against Trump were not important
In New York Magazine, Jonathan Chait argued that Trump's convictions "did not represent his worst crimes" and that the charges themselves were "marginal." Similar arguments have been made by many other commentators.  The charges against Trump stemmed from a conspiracy to conceal information from the public in the critical days before the 2016 election. Especially after the leak of the Access Hollywood tape, in which Trump brags about sexually assaulting women, Trump's moral character was at issue. News that he had allegedly had an affair with an adult film star would have been a major story. At a minimum, it would have diverted attention from Hillary Clinton's email usage, which dominated coverage in the closing days of the campaign. It's unclear how much of an impact Stormy Daniels story would have had on the electorate. But it wouldn't have had to do much to change the course of history. A shift of 80,000 votes across a handful of states would have tipped the balance to Hillary Clinton.
[...]
There was nothing unlawful about how Trump tried to influence the election
Brad Smith, a former FEC commissioner, argued that the payments to Daniels did not violate federal campaign finance law because the money could be considered a personal expense, not a campaign expense. In making this argument, he ignores testimony from former AMI CEO David Pecker that there was an agreement to make these kinds of payments to protect Trump's campaign.  But there is a bigger problem with Smith's argument. The prosecution did not just argue that the payments to Daniels violated campaign finance law. They also argued that the money paid to former Playmate Karen McDougal violated campaign finance law and was part of the same conspiracy. And that money was not paid by Cohen, it was paid by AMI. If this was a personal expense why would it be paid by a corporation and never reimbursed? Smith does not address the payment to McDougal at all.
[...]
The jury was hopelessly biased against Trump
Congressman Nick Langworthy (R-NY) said that Trump was convicted not by a "jury of his peers" but a "jury of adversaries." He said prosecutors "found the venue" where Trump "couldn’t win." Trump was tried in Manhattan because that is where he chose to live at the time. It was also the locus of his crimes.  And there is evidence suggesting that one or more of the jurors was politically conservative. According to the court questionnaires, one of the jurors who was selected said they relied on Truth Social, Trump's own social network, and X, which has taken a sharp rightward turn under Elon Musk, for news. Another juror reported regularly watching Fox News and MSNBC. And according to reporting, one juror said that "he believed Mr. Trump had done some good for the country." Another juror found himself "agreeing with some Trump administration policies and disagreeing with others." A third juror said she appreciated that "President Trump speaks his mind." To avoid conviction, Trump's legal team needed only to convince a single juror. All of the jurors voted to convict Trump on all 34 counts.
Popular Information has a solid article debunking the right-wing spin on the Trump business records falsification trial verdict that made Donald Trump a 34x convicted felon.

Emmy Prediction 2024 Lead Actor (Limited)
Benedict Cumberbatch “Eric”
Michael Douglas “Franklin”
Jon Hamm *** “Fargo”
Tom Hollander “Feud: Capote...”
Hiroyuki Sanada “Shо̄gun”
Andrew Scott “Ripley”
Oh interesting. What a fiercely good category in an otherwise lackluster year of TV! I did declare 2024 the year of Andrew Scott way back in December 2023 and even though I didn’t like Vanya if he wins an Olivier and an Emmy back to back it’ll be so iconic and such a deserved apology for the lack of Oscar/BAFTA nom.
All that said I find it so weird that we can now predict award nominees when multiple shows haven’t even been released yet and don’t even have reviews out yet. I’d rather we pretended it was a real nomination race
