Chimera (Bixie)
China, 1st century
Miniature depictions of animals began to appear in the middle of the Han dynasty. The perforation in the body of this solid gold chimera suggests that it was worn as a pendant or perhaps as one of several “beads.” Such ornaments are likely to have been inspired by small animal-shaped hardstone beads that were imported from South and Southeast Asia. Hardstone beads have been discovered in Han royal tombs in many Chinese provinces. They have also been excavated from contemporary sites along the coast of Vietnam and Thailand as well as in source countries including northern Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

okay but the killua and palm parallels are so interesting & keep going the more you think about them.
here are some i could think of off the top of my head (think of palm as an exaggerated version of killua & how he thinks/feels abt gon).
palm and killua both:
- care & think abt him to the point where it can be or seem obsessive at times
- constantly want all of gon’s time and feel threatened when someone poses as a possible threat to their relationship
- can have moments of being possessive and petty over him due to their jealousy
- feel mesmerized by & drawn to gon’s determination, kindness, & positivity (light)
- worry abt how gon thinks of them and/or how they appear to him
- are prone to get defensive and yell at gon when confused, and then quickly calming down when he’s able to (usually easily) quell them enough
- are practically smitten by gon (whether u see killua’s feelings as platonic and/or romantic, it’s clear gon literally had him wrapped around his finger) & gon knows this, hence why he’s able to get away w so much; they’re both willing to sweep a lot under the rug and basically forgive him or not even be (very) upset in the 1st place which basically gives gon the “okay” in a sense, even if/when he does feel guilty
- become better versions of themselves throughout the chimera ant arc, including developing a better & more genuine sense of self worth

Backbeard - Day 61
Race: Foul
Alignment: Dark-Chaos
July 1st, 2024
Tumblr media
ZEHAHAHA- wait, no L. Unfortunate. Today's Demon of the Day is, strangely, a modern version of a classic type of monster, and one that originates from a very specific source- a manga. Yep, we have another one that leads you in circles in research, though in this case, it's because it might not even exist. Enter Backbeard, a yōkai that originates from GeGeGe no Kitaro. Before I start digging into what little there is to offer, I'd like to give a huge thank you to @kanekocribs 's fantastic post about this subject, which also had a great delve into Porewit, which you all know my very... intense feelings about.
For the most part, Backbeard's origin is incredibly hard to trace; the purported origin of the yōkai in the book "100 Ghosts and Hauntings of the World" seems to have just been made up by the SMT fandom wiki, as the closest thing I can even trace to that name is the series of woodblock prints from the 1830's called "One Hundred Ghost Stories" which can be further traced back to a set of parlor games called "Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai." In these sources, though, I can't find any reference to Backbeard or even just a single-eyed entity, which appears to be the primary trait for a lot of depictions. Even going back and trying to find anything related to an August 1965 edition of Shonen Book, which the wiki page cites...
Sends you right back to GeGeGe no Kitaro. Please get some sources cited Megaten wiki. Regardless, though, what on earth is GeGeGe no Kitaro even about? It's about yōkai, of course! In the story, Backbeard appears as a major antagonist, leading scores of the 'Western Yōkai,' effectively meaning groups of classical horror movie monsters such as the Wolfman, Dracula, Witches, etc. He's seen as the main antagonist of several of the stories, but in most adaptations he's cut for more personal antagonists. I'm not well versed in GeGeGe no Kitaro, especially because I haven't read it, but the design says all it really needs to say.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later on, it's attributed and believed that Backbeard may have taken inspiration from several sources conglomerating together, though I could not find a source for the LIFE OF ME regarding the first one. TW for body horror and bugs below, but some people purport that Backbeard may have been based on the 'Eye Bugs' from the aforementioned magazine '100 Ghosts and Hauntings of the World,' though again, I have no idea where this picture comes from, and searching is turning up diddly squat. The second picture, though, I can attest to existing- a piece of art called the Shinjuku Phantom Chimera by Masatoshi Naitō.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ironically, I pulled this from another blog! Special thanks as well to @littleeyesofpallas for this post about Bleach that ALSO goes into Backbeard. Finally, we can trace the inspiration for Backbeard and Shinjuku Phantom Chimera all the way back to the 1800's, wherein we have this painting by French artist Odilon Redon, simply called Eye Balloon.
Tumblr media
So, cool! What do I do with this? I have no idea! There isn't really a moral at the end of this, or any grand message, and my hours of digging have dealt me many, many headaches with not much else in return. I guess, at the very least, I satisfied my curiosity, and also found out that Bleach has a GeGeGe no Kitaro reference in it.

(hxh) PHANTOM TROUPE // KURTA CLAN theory
...debunking PT did it
Tumblr media
So let me preface this by saying this was 100% inspired by a tiktok comment in a hxh phantom troupe's religious symbolism video back in 2021 (:/). The person who commented made such an impact I screenshotted their comments which unfortunately are not in correct order and messaged them this year (i just know they think im weird) but they never responded. I'd give their @ but its their government name (I take it) so msg me for deets. All credit goes to them as I'm just polishing and tidying these thoughts.
First op talks about Meteor City, a junkyard city inhabited by outcasts. People who live there do not exist on any official records and are treated horribly from the outside, people are taken from Meteor City for crimes, prostitution, slavery and no one's doing a thing to stop it. People go outside and face racism, like the one guy accused of a crime he didnt commit and when the truth is shown no one does anything (think op meant The Bum Incident, vol 11, Chapter 102). These people get no justice, they're just used and this is where the duality of Chrollo comes in, he is a demon to the outside world because he is challenging the gods but also a Jesus figure for the underprivileged Meteor City. Even his reverse St Peters Cross on his jacket means that he feels unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as Jesus. Thats his way of saying he doesnt see himself as worthy of savior. His priority is the Troupe so they can together be seen to the outside world, they are literally a troupe of phantoms, trying to be recognized. This is why when he asks Neon if she believes in ghosts and she says no, she is the oppressor that doesn't understand the one hurt.
If you read the story with this idea in mind you start to observe that the Troupe only attacks people hazardous for the City (mafia, ants) or when they want revenge for one of them killed so its weird they are presented in a positive almost heroic light. Only exception that sticks out to the story? Kurta massacre.
The og commenter wondered why it was that the Troupe was always presented in a positive light. We've known the Phantom Troupe does acts of good alongside the bad but we also haven't seen anything entirely "evil" commited by any of them yet. Most of the legends surrounding them are hearsay. And though they could have easily killed Gon and Killua, they don't, twice. Also, Uvogin when taken by mafia/Kurapika says if freed, they wouldn't hurt them as they are not the target.
Op comments on how narrative should be filtered as its being commented via Gon- a non objective source, they claim that the 1st arc feels like a kid show whereas chimera arc feels dark, thats not to say it is actually like that but as Gon's perspective changes so does the narration. At first when innocent people die, he doesnt really care but in chimera we need a narrator to explain as Gon is too biased at that point. Regarding the massacre we only have Kurapika's word but what we are being told/shown about the Troupe is different. The characters talk about the Kurta massacre, how horrible and brutal it was but the narrative is keen and favors the Troupe, it paints them in a favorable light and why should the narrative do that, they don't become better people like the Ants after all.
From the moment they appear on screen, the narrative wants us to see them as underprivileged, both in York New and in the ship, even when they're fighting in Meteor City, they're fighting for injustice or when somebody hurts them. Then why justify their actions everytime they appear on screen if they massacred the Kurta Clan? If they are responsible for this why make them the underprivileged representation? Both Kurta and Troupe says the op are ostracized by the outside and seen less from people.
Say they did it. 3 ideas were proposed as to why.
1. for the eyes (Chrollo likes the eyes, like Hisoka said but Hisoka is a liar and also Chrollo has never shown interest in the show for them. For someone who steals things he likes, why make an exception and murder here?)
2. for money (that's not correct, we are told multiple times they don't care about it, neither money nor fame, they want to be recognized by the world but how would that work by killing a clan that's been hidden for 100 years, they dont get anything out of it.)
3. for revenge: Revenge for what? Kurta are a peaceful clan that hide for years. We know the Troupe left a note that is the motto of Meteor City (I'm adding here what op referred to: "we reject no one so take nothing from us"). Op says note means they serve justice to their city, when someone takes things away from them so what did Kurta take? From the thematic and narrative point they are not set up to have done it, op thinks thats 100% intentional.
Like said above, BOTH have the thematic of oppression from the outside world, they are a commodity for the rich and powerful (gods) but why is Phantom Troupe put in the light of both, the oppressor and the oppressed? Why would an oppressed group oppress another one for NO good reason? The Troupe doesn't kill innocent people if not necessary, they do NOT care about money or fame and the revenge aspect doesnt work because the Kurta were isolated from the outside.
If we look back at the York New Arc they never state the massacre, they simply suggest it and of course from a Kurapika POV they are guilty but if you look again you have to ask..are they really?
this took ages for me to coherently formulate and ik it goes back and forth but bless op's heart because it changed my perspective completely (more than any yt analysis found online) !

I'm back and I'm so sorry! I won't make any promises for the last 2 ep of the Winchesters, but I will be reviewing/rewatching them anyways just ... who knows when, I dont!
But let's get started on You've got a Friend 1x11.
I hopefully will be a bit less rambly since O have a draft of my thoughts already written for this and its less... as Im watching (i can post that too if yall wanna but dunno if ull understand my handwriting)
We begin where we left off and I love that we have this scene of them needing to clean up, adds realism, adds dimension to the world. Love also that we begin with Lata being the Lata we all love - dejected in this case about her chimera paw was ruined. Queue Carlos with the teasing. The 2 of em banter a bit before Mary redirects us all to the matter at hand.
And Mary has come a long way in these episodes, because she may not join the banter (still closed off somewhat as opposed to Carlos and Lata's easy repartee) but she is going off of it and adding them into her area of interest.
But all stops when John come in blood soaked and in shock - Mary instantly worried he might be hurt, but nope, not this time.
I am so happy to see them portray the actual shock and numbness John is feeling, then the guilt and sadness, just all the reaction to Kyle's death really. And considering the survivor's guilt John is lugging around, it makes it even more heartbreaking. I also love seeing that Mary is the level headed one here - she,.imo, is clearly pushing down the grief to focus on John's issues here, hell we see very little of her grieving in this episode and everytime we do, she's quick to redirect that feeling into action - sometimes into violence point blank. She does it here, asking what the Akrida could want, she does it even moreso with Millie, where she does open up a bit since Millie is offering comfort, but then it turns into Millie coming with a plan which directly leads to Mary wanting to storm the police station guns blazing and the ep ends with Mary and John discussing Kyle (also god Mary looks absolutely exhausted here, fuck) but Mary derails it by saying they need to find Dean instead. She's def not allowing herself the moment to deal with Kyle's death which may prove relevant when discussing next episode.
I'd forgotten this ep was the Lata episode. Like ep 8 was Carlos', this one is Lata's. And god does it hurt.
1st, move the feather boa, Carlos!
2nd, I do genuinely believe Lata and Maggie were together. Everything in this episode points that way to me (but especialy the sweetpea nickname) We'll round back to this though.
The other thing we note in the sequence in Maggie's room is how close Carlos and Lata are to each other. Which we knew, but I always love seeing it again in action.
Before we continue with the emotional core of this ep, we have to get back to plot with Betty! I love Betty..I also can't blame her for being ....hesitant to say the least. Like imagine what she's seen so far: the guy who, before leaving to the marines illegally, proposed to her, is suddently interacting with, apparently, imfamous Mary Campbell, who is seen at several murder/investigation scenes suddenly appears ro have killed someone? And she already knows John had anger issues before hand. Like i get her here. And still shes trying to be nice while doing her job.
Which leads me to the next part, her job. So the detective... he's wording (even with him being really Akrida) echoes a lot of corrupt cop rethoric which only gets further emphasized when he later threatens to have John... killed 'accidently'. And, on top of them, speaking pf policw corruption even a 'good cop' like Betty becomes complicit simply because of the power the Akrida gained via the detective role cuz she was unwittingly helping them throughout.
But god, was John a bit too cocky here. (My notes have this marked as "this is why you let villains monologue, John!"). Especially since he actually doesn't have any info on Dean. (Love that we see the pic of Dean, missed him) l.
Meanwhile Lata and Carlos have found the bracelet and it's fucked them over. Also, I fucking hate the shadows thing, very creepy. Also also it reminds me of the daeva that Meg uses in s1 of SPN. I'm also reminded of SPN with the story the detective tells John about how they'll get rid of him - SPN's own crooked cop ep featured exactly this sorta plan too, but in killing Dean.
Really though, the main thing I found interesting upon rewatch is just how much Lata is our Dean mirror in this one. Specifically, in getting targeted by the bracelet she's forced to relive a trauma (Sania's death) via Carlos acting as substitute, only this time she succeeds where prior she thought she failed (which lemme make clear, no, Lata was at no point and in no way at fault, but she did internalize that guilt - much like Dean tends to internalize guilt) . Which Dean, much like Lata ends up doing when getting involved with this universe, ends up reliving a trauma (his parents death - Mary especially) of something he failed, in his mind, to prevent/save via rescuing this universe's Mary. And much like Lata, who can't undo what happened to Sania, but can "begin to make it better" (the Hey Jude line just hit me so I had to use it), so too can Dean. It won't change what happened in his life, wont save his mom, but it will help him heal nonetheless.
Adding to this Maggie? Who opperates as a Cas parallel here - she was Lata's person, who shared everything with Lata but Lata couldn't in turn for fear of judgement/shame, who notably is dead and thus Lata can't ever reveal her secret to. Well, it hurts is what it does.
But watching this I noticed another interesting thing though, for all that the bracelet seems to work like Osiris (pulling on the guilt the person feels is most agregious), the bracelet actually seems to want the wearer to get out. Carlos is taken just as Lata begins wondering which secret it's trying to make her face and is sent to Sania's room - direct answer. Then later,.even more blatant, using Maggie's face, tries to get Lata to disclose the secret, but Lata talks around it instead til the creature takes her too.
It seems like Erebus had a test for his warriors, one he wanted them to win.
Throughout all of Lata's story, I was seething. I truly hate her family and Carlos was 100% saying exactly what I was thinking.
Another thing I appreciated though, about Carlos, is the emotional maturity. Yes they were dying and yes it was urgent that Lata disclose her secret but Carlos made certain to reassure her throughout. Tried to give her as much space as possible.
In other thoughts, Lata's mom making that "vs family" distinction, uuuh it rattled sth in me only to them have Lata say "my parents would never look at m the same way"? In the Dean Winchester show? God, the echoes of John's shitty parenting were deafening. Bur yes to eveything Carlos said. It truly wasnt Lata's fault.
And I adore also the ending conversation between Lata and Carlos (both wearing blue and god I want Carlos' coat) because yes, this kind of stuff shouldn't be forced out on anither persons whim. Lata doesn't have to tell John and Mary anything, it is her story to tell, but also yes, Carlos is right to reassure her that if she wants to share it with them, they'll likely react well like he did. And yes the reason this particular scene hit so hard is partially personal, but because of that it drove me insane in SPN where there was a tendency for people to push other to open up at their own whim (and yes, Sam did it often to mutiple people, hounding them until they cracked and spilled whatever trauma they were trying to deal with but then have nothing to give in return, no comfort or even really reaction, and yes he most of all did it to Dean a lot and it did puss me off) So yea, love this episode for the Lata and Carlos of it all!
Also I have a few questions, when Millie was trying to convince Betty about the supernatural, at one point she said "it's not like-" and cut off. She was trying to defend against the accusation of 'playing make believe). Also, Betty says sth like "Mary, I expected.this from" with relation once more to her not believing in monsters soooo.... has Mary ever been taken in under suspicion of being delusional? Was Millie? Or John?! I've questions ok i need y'alls opinions on this one.
Also, I would've soo cracked if the Akrida asked about Dean, cuz I def miss him a lot and id fucking gush about him at that point.
Anyways, that's it for this one. See you guys next time where we'll be clowning (have I mentioned I hate clowns?)
@noybusiness thanks for push earlier this month, i needed that a lot and thanks for the support for this rewatch ❤
@shallowseeker thanks the new posts, been inspiring me to get back to writing this ❤

The Chimera and the Mirror (Short Story)
I have 2 versions of this story, the first version, but I also have a revised version.
1st
The chimera quietly stepped through the halls of the castle. It had lived in the forest and had never seen such a large human dwelling before. It walked into the bathroom and saw, what it thought for a moment, was another monster in the room. But upon realizing that the monster’s movements matched it, it realized that the creature was themself.
They had never seen their reflection before, the waters were always too cloudy with silt and mud to see anything but a river of pale brown. The monster walked up closer to the mirror and examined itself. Is… that what it’s face really looked like? It was one thing to see parts of its body in separation from the whole. But seeing everything all together like this… it didn’t look right.
The creature raised its paw and poked at its snout. It opened its mouth and looked at its teeth. It opened its wings as far as it could stretch them. Nothing looked like it fit together. Everything looked out of place. The creature knocked over the mirror, but even with the glass now scattered around its feet, it could still not remove the image from its mind. It hobbled away from the castle, never wishing to see a mirror again.
2nd
The creature knocked over the mirror. It crashed to the ground, glass shards flying every which way. It had never seen itself before. It didn’t like what it saw. What was the face it saw? A lion, but with the teeth of a man. A mane made of coarse straw. A leather bat wing, and two made of brown feathers, three entire wings. It had bird claws and lion paws. A scaly tail with another head at the end. On its back sat the head of a goat with matted black fur.
Nothing fits together, nothing at all. It was all out of place. It knew it had looked odd, but it could never imagine how odd! Was that why people screamed when the monster came their way?
When the monster saw the cabin in the woods, it had grown curious. It knew humans built these. It always wondered what was inside. It sat and watched the dwelling for some time. No humans came or left. Was there no humans living in this one? It crept up to the entrance, ready to leap away if it saw any sign of activity.
There was no sound. It lightly pushed the door open. The hinges loudly creaked, and the creature almost bolted, afraid a human would come running from the sound. No humans appeared though. It walked in, keeping low to the ground and looked around in the dark cabin.
For a moment it thought there was a monster already camping in the cabin. The monster, however, jumped back when the creature jumped back. And walked forward when the creature walked forward. It scratched its snout when the creature scratched its snout. Was this what the creature really looked like? With a growing feeling of revulsion, it slapped its front claw on the side of the mirror, the mirror careened over and smashed onto the ground.
The monster left the cabin, feeling a sense of defeat.

Sticking to D&D because it's what I'm familiar with. Also, going with vibes as ofc the magic systems don't translate 1 to 1.
Marcille is a Necromancy wizard (Learned caster + forbidden dark magic). The few 5e wizard healing spells are all necromancy as well.
Senshi is a barbarian, but is a 1st edition barbarian when their key characteristics were aversion to magic and surviving in the wilderness, rather than their rage.
Chilchuck and Izutsumi each fulfil one half of the rogue archetype, with Chilchuck being the 'thief' (lockpicking, trapfinding) while Izutsumi is the 'assassin' (acrobatic and good at killing things).
Falin is trickier and (IMO) changes as the story progresses. In terms of the role she plays in the party at the start, she's definitely a traditional cleric. She heals, casts protective spells, is good at dealing with undead, and hits things with a mace. In universe she even wears an official healers uniform. On the other hand, she isn't religious, is very naturally gifted at magic (goes off instinct rather than book learned), and she practices gnomish magic which focuses on communing with magical spirits. Because of this the source of her magic may be much closer to dnd druids than clerics (although she lacks the defining ability of wildshape).
||After Falin is resurrected for the first time, her source of magic may be much closer to sorcerer as she is able to channel magic from the dungeon directly, and as a chimera and after her second resurrection she retains some physical characteristics of the dragon/chimera such as her pointed teeth and feathers covering her body, matching (at least aesthetically) the draconic soul sorcerer.||
Laois on the surface appears to be a Paladin; He is heavily armoured and uses a sword (and very briefly, a shield). He also picks up some healing/support magic later on. He also seems to have an easier time perceiving ghosts than the others, which could be a bit divine sense adjacent, even if the source of this power is either similar to Falin's innate magic, or a side effect of him ||being groomed by the winged lion early on to defeat the mad mage||.
However, we see the source of the rest of his magic is more on the learned side, being much closer to Marcille than Falin. He never uses magic offensively and we never see anything like divine smite, and lastly his monster/dungeon knowledge is very much tied to his effective fighting skills (he is a good fighter because of his monster fixation, he's not just a good fighter who happens to be fixated on monsters). Because of this and him never sing a bow, I think he fits much better into the pre-dnd, more Tolkien-esque ranger than the modern 5e archetype (although I think building Laios as a intelligence based 5e ranger would be pretty straightforward). And hey, both Aragorn and Laios become ||kings at the end of their stories||.
Bonus -
Shuro fits perfectly as a 5e samurai fighter.
Namari suits the more modern barbarian archetype quite well due to her brashness and short temper, as well as her being very lightly armoured but still tough. She probably has a bit of fighter in her as well due to her proficiency with a wide range of weapons.
Kabru is likely a fighter as well, with proficiency against human adversaries I think making him a good candidate for battlemaster if we stick to 5e archetypes.
||Mithrun is a wizard who learned every teleportation spell and nothing else.||
Guessing Dungeon Meshi character classes, just for fun! Marcille is obviously a wizard, and Chilchuck is a rogue. Senshi seems to be a fighter with one (1) level in ranger, favored terrain: dungeon. Falin functions as a cleric, but in a system without divine patrons.
Laios..... Laios is a paladin, but he's a pathfinder paladin. A tank with some limited healing capability. All his points slam dunked into animal handling to compensate for his charisma modifier.

Day 567
Since today is Sunday and I don’t have plans for today, let me talk (rant) a bit about the weirdness of writing a Dungeons and Dragons fan comic. There is a lot I can talk about because the way Dungeons and Dragons work outside of modules is that it encourages players to use their source material as building blocks to create their own stories. This means you can just ignore the source material completely or pick and choose from that source material. Having the source material is not necessary but it does relieve some of the creative burden of having to create something from scratch.
That being said, let’s have a chat about the Find Familiar spell, because spoiler, the kids are going to learn that at some point. For those who aren’t familiar with Dungeons and Dragons, Find Familiar is a 1st level spell (meaning it is most likely baby wizard’s first spell outside of cantrip spells).
The first paragraph of that spell (because it’s a weirdly versatile spell for 1st level) reads as follows:
“You gain the service of a familiar, a spirit that takes an animal form you choose: bat, cat, crab, frog (toad), hawk, lizard, octopus, owl, poisonous snake, fish (quipper), rat, raven, sea horse, spider, or weasel. Appearing in an unoccupied space within range, the familiar has the statistics of the chosen form, though it is a celestial, fey, or fiend (your choice) instead of a beast.”
The first paragraph as shown above is vague enough that both players and dungeon masters definitely can take advantage of it.. Players can use the different forms to be able to spy or gain access to isolated places with their familiars, and there’s at least two spells a dungeon master could use that prevents a celestial, fey or fiend from gaining entrance to a location.
But that is on a game mechanic level.
The fact that you’re summoning a spirit that is either celestial, fey or fiend means something in a narrative, the question is… what does that mean? @wereah and I have had several conversations about what this means to have a familiar using this spell. Normally in a D&D game, this stuff is primarily flavour text and familiars don’t really have a personality.
Though that isn’t the fault of any of the players. There’s a lot going on in a game, and even players that want their familiar to be more than just a spell that they can use, it can be very hard to remember you have an existing creature with you. Even Frumpkin, the familiar of Liam O’Brien’s character Caleb Widogast, often became more of a prop, coming out in role play only when there was a comedic gag or emotional moment that required Frumpkin’s presence. And Liam really tried to make Frumpkin an important part of Caleb’s life, he was after all, accidentally, Caleb’s emotional support cat. It’s just really hard to do, and the fact that Frumpkin has several fanfiction stories dedicated to him speaks to how much effort Liam put into making Frumpkin his own character.
But what does this have to do with Chimera Academy and baby wizards?
Everything, because Chimera Academy is a narrative story, not a role play. It is much easier to give these familiars personality through a story to tell, rather than through role play. However, it brings the question… What does it mean to summon a familiar into your service?
More importantly, what does it mean to summon a celestial, fey or fiend spirit into your service?
How smart is this spirit?
What is the agreement when they come into your service?
Why would they come into your service?
How much independence do they really have?
It’s not something the spell as a game mechanic talks about, but it is something to consider if you’re writing a story and decide to shove a familiar into it.

This blog belongs to House of Chimeras. This blog mostly has content regarding alterhumanity in general, therianthropy, plurality, neurodiversity, mental heath, being queer/LGBT, religion /spirituality (focus on paganism), and occasionally a few other side interests and whatnot. For a blog run by us that is more about us personally (our alterhumanity, our plurality, etc), see @houseofchimeras
:: What’s Up With This Blog? ::
Throughout this journal you will see personal perspectives and opinions from the author that uses plural pronouns: we instead of I, our instead of my, and so on. Unless stated otherwise, usage of the words “we” and other plural pronouns should not be taken to mean anyone other than those here within the House of Chimeras. This is because the author of this journal is multiple and is part of a plurality.
Plural referring to the phenomenon of where a single body is “more than one” rather than being alone; a singlet. Being multiple means a single body contains a marked presence of more than one distinct and separate persons; a group of individuals sharing one single body together.
Along with this multiplicity is the added complexity that each of us is nonhuman. Us being “nonhuman” is not a statement regarding our physical body. That part of us is completely human (thus why we experience species dysphoria). Instead, this nonhumanity of ours is non-physical. It is something we just feel and know on an intrinsic and innate level.
No amount of critical thinking over the years has been able to explain away this understanding of ourselves. We know all of this is “all in our head,” but that does not take away from the stark reality we are faced with in relation to our identities and the experiences we relate to such.
:: ABOUT US (To Make A Long Story, Short) ::
We are a large mixed-origin nonhuman multiple system that goes by House of Chimeras. Most of us are either therians or fictionkin.
We are an adult and were born in 1989. (As of this edit [27-October-2022] we are 33).
We received a diagnosis of DDNOS from our 1st therapist in 2010. When the DSM-5 came out our 2nd therapist reassessed us & found we did not meet all criteria for DID or OSDD with the DSM-5 (though we once did). While every mental health professional we’ve seen since then has acknowledged our plurality, we’ve never been re-diagnosed.
Our multiplicity is caused by several factors. In brief: we believe er were born already predisposed toward multiplicity due to neurodivergence, were born with more than one soul, had trauma that directly messed with our identity development, various negative childhood events pushed us to maladaptive daydreaming which led to the creation of tulpas/thoughtforms, & an animistic predispositions leading to spirit possession/walk-in practices. It is more complex than that, but that is the basics.
Our system consists of a wide array of nonhumans. Most of us are nonhuman animals that exist or have existed on Earth. Others are creatures of a more mythical or fictional sort. Some are fictional characters (human or nonhuman). A few of us are plants. A handful of people are nonhuman but don’t easily fit into any other category.
Our overall spiritual beliefs can best be described as pagan with an undercurrent of pantheism, hard polytheism, and animism. A major part of our spiritual practice is heavily inspired by historical accounts of groups like the Benandanti. Our practice is heavily focused on local nature spirits and, to an extent, aiding the nonhuman dead.
We collectively call ourselves queer. We label our collective as transgender, nonbinary, and genderqueer. We have made several alterations to our body to appear more androgynous. Collectively our pronouns are they/them/their but individually our pronouns vary. Our collective sexuality is demiromantic (asexual to bisexual) but our individual sexualities vary.
Our general hobbies include reading (both nonfiction and fiction), writing (essays and stories), arts related stuff (mostly drawing and crafting) participating in various outdoor activities (hiking, wild-life watching, and learning wilderness survival skills), and collecting (namely books and animal bones). We read or listen to, on average, 70 books every year.
:: Our Website & Projects ::
The Chimeras Library - https://houseofchimeras.neocities.org/
Our website is home to many of our completed projects. Most of which pertain to alterhumanity and plurality.
It includes: documents that contain timelines regarding the therian community, the fictionkin community, the alterhuman community, and more; links to our past lectures; our personal essays regarding our nonhumanity and plurality, information about our system and our individual members, and much more!
  :: Our Stances ::
This is FAR from an exhaustive list. It is merely a list of things we feel are relevant to point out regarding ourselves and anyone likely to come across our blog. This isn’t a “Do Not Interact” (DNI) so much as a laying out our stances so readers can make their own judgements on if they want to interact with or follow us.
We do not Support / Are Against (are “Anti”) :
- gatekeepers & fakeclaimers (in the alterhuman communities, plural community, queer community, and more)
- plural exclusionists / system medicalists
- zetas/bestialists
- transmedicalists
- queerphobes (including transphobes, biphobes, and acephobes)
We are Support / Respect (are “Pro”) :
- all good-faith self-identification
- all systems regardless of origin (including tulpas and endogenic systems) and diagnosis status
- all good-faith self-diagnosis
- all genders (including xenogenders)
- all transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming people regardless of if they experience gender dysphoria or plan on transitioning in any form
- queer as an identity label

He originally wanted to be an actor but failed and he didn’t want the stress of having a low salary and inconsistent employment so he turned to law. Putting away human criminals feels like his own revenge against humans. He works with the CCG, which uses death row criminals to test their weapons (and feed their little pet Motojirou Kajii).
Mushitarou is a gourmand.
When he was still in university his older friend, Yokomizo, got into trouble and the doves were closing in so his friend asked to be killed by a friend rather than an enemy so Mushitarou killed him and ran away. His identity is still unknown to the CCG.

Weakness: his loyalty to Fyodor inhibits his self-preservation. He doesn’t use his full power because he’s busy serving Fyodor.
Ivan is a gourmand, known for using the faces of his victims to make masks.
Bungou Stray Dogs Tokyo Ghoul AU
PART ONE
Cafe Uzumaki:
A legitimate coffee shop that also functions as a detective service ghouls can call upon when crimes are committed against them since they cannot risk going to the police. This includes lost pets, wayward spouses, and missing friends or family, though, in the case of missing family or friends, the president, Fukuzawa has made it clear that they will not confront the CCG, only try their best to confirm whether or not the person they are searching or is dead or alive.
Fukuzawa Yukichi
Ward: 20
Gender: Male
Age: 45
Species: Ghoul
Occupation: Uzumaki Manager. Swordsman and Martial Arts Teacher. (Runs the ADA)
Kagune Type: Rinkaku
Specialises In: Cat whispering (srsly is he half-cat or smth) Kagune detachment. (He uses his kagune like a sword.)
Edogawa Ranpo
Ward: 20
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Species: Ghoul
Occupation: Head Uzumaki Detective
Kagune Type: Koukaku
Specialises In: detective work
Yosano Akiko
Ward: 20 (Formerly 24)
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Species: Ghoul
Occupation: Surgeon in training
Kagune Type: Koukaku
Specialises In: Healing
Kunikida Doppo
Ward: 20
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Species: Ghoul
Occupations: Maths Teacher (Manages offee bean orders and other supply shipment schedules for Uzumaki)
Kagune Type: Ukaku
Specialises In: Scheduling and Planning
He struggled a lot with consuming human flesh and even tried to consume animals (like the Cullens in Twilight) to no avail. His failure left him searching for ways to end his life when he met Dazai, who offered him the means to do so. But he realised he couldn’t leave Katai, his only and best friend so he declined. Soon after he stumbled upon Fukuzawa, who showed him that there was a more human way.
Tayama Katai
Ward: 20
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Species: Ghoul
Occupation: Code writer (has job at Manhasset Security, but works from home)
Kagune Type: Koukaku
Specialises In: Working with computers and other tech and coding (srsly, this guy’s survival skills are shit, he only remembers to eat because not doing so is so painful, and if the CCG is around he gets really paranoid and refuses to come out from under Yoshiko. Not that he does much anyway.)
Dazai Osamu
Ward: 20 (Formerly 24)
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Species: Ghoul
Occupation: Uzumaki Barista and Waiter (he hardly ever shows up)
Kagune Type: Koukaku
Specialises In: Strategic thinking, manipulation, deception, stealth, and martial arts
Junichirou Tanizaki
Ward: 20 (Former Unknown)
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Species: Half-Ghoul
Occupation: Student (Uzumaki Sales Clerk Part Time Waiter and Barista)
Kagune Type: Stealth and close-range combat with guns and/or kagune knives
Specialises In: Ukaku
Nobody knows whether it was his father or his mother who was a ghoul. He shows very few ghoul traits, blending in almost seamlessly as a human. He can go an oddly long time without eating but usually eats whenever his colleagues at Uzumaki do, as he has no qualms about taking Human life. When Fukuzawa found him and his sister in an alley he assumed he was a human but saw that Naomi was a ghoul and, feeling badly for the young boy, tried to scare off Naomi so Junichirou wouldn’t be eaten. Overreacting to a threat towards his sister, Junichirou displayed his full power. Since then he’s never fought. He’s very calm, even shy, and hardly ever shows his ghoul traits, even when in extreme emotional distress. The only time he “ghouls out” is when Naomi is in danger.
Naomi Tanizaki
Ward: 20 (Former Unknown)
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Species: Half-Ghoul
Occupation: Uzumaki Waiter (She can control herself very well but she acts dramatic and too ghoul-like to be allowed in a public setting without careful supervision. She has binge eating tendencies with Junichirou has only curbed by reminding her that her causing attention would put him, her precious Onii-sama, in danger)
Kagune Type:
Specialises In: Strategic thinking, manipulation, deception, stealth, and seduction.
Naomi doesn’t see humans as lesser than ghouls in anything but physical characteristics. She says “I’d gladly befriend some if they weren’t oh so tasty~! I think that if I got close I could hardly resist eeeee!”
Miyazawa Kenji
Ward: 20
Gender: Male
Age: 14
Species: Ghoul
Occupation: Student (helps out with the local farmers market after school and on the weekends)
Kagune Type: Rinkaku
Specialises In: staying positive, making friends, strength and brute force
Kenji knows that Ghouls are biologically different from humans but doesn't see many other differences. Fukuzawa tries to keep things especially subtle for Kenji. Giving him “beef” to eat without telling him what it is because Kenji loves everyone, including humans and it would break his heart to know he had to eat them. Kenji deals with his hunger very well, mostly because everyone always keeps him well fed. He goes to the same school that the Tanizakis do with the instruction never to eat anything that isn't given to him by someone not affiliated with Uzumaki.
Nakajima Atsushi
Ward: 20 (Formerly 23)
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Species: Ghoul
Occupation: Uzumaki Waiter and Trainee Barista  (Because he does not have enough control over his eyes and Kaguine he cannot go to school, He hates feeling so hungry but recognised it as necessary and made peace with it long ago)
Kagune Type: Bikaku
Specialises In: heavy lifting, following orders
Izumi Kyouka
Ward: 20 (Formerly 24)
Gender: Female
Age: 14
Species: Chimera Ghoul
Occupation: Uzumaki Trainee Barista (She’s already better than Atsushi, despite being not as experienced. She wants to be a student but doesn’t trust herself around humans. Also, she struggles with control of her eyes and Kagune. They tend to extend whenever she feels a threat (could be as simple as smelling another strange ghoul) or smells a human (because of hunger and predatory instincts)
Kagune Type: Ukaku
Specialises In: sword skills and martial arts (taught by her mother)
She tried to cut off her Kagune but it didn’t work and she became severely distressed. Fukuzawa promised her that she’d be ready for society one day. She ended up keeping them because they were the only reminder of her late mother and father.
Kirako Haruno
Ward: 20
Gender: Female
Age:
Species: Human
Occupation: Uzumaki Chef (Makes pastries and small savoury snacks for the few human customers)
Specialises In: baking and cooking, logistics, planning, helping mediate disputes and unite her coworkers, and cat-sitting.
She’s a little scared of Naomi after she was almost eaten, but Naomi has come to see her as a friend.

This blog belongs to House of Chimeras. This blog focuses on our personal experiences, especially in regards to our alterhumanity in general, therianthropy, plurality, neurodiversity, being queer, and occasionally a few aspects of our identity, experiences, and/or our interests.

Tokyo Mew Mew New is really changing the order of some events compared to the manga. If I remember correctly, Mint is the first one to obtain that Aqua thing, during that Tokyo Tower attack, right? In the anime, they changed to Lettuce getting the 1st one. Also, I think last episode was a combination of 2 separate events in the manga: Ichigo turning into a cat and the Tokyo Tower attack. Am I right about what I just said? I think they're changing the events of things, but keeping the essence of the manga. I hope all of the girls find the Aqua thing as well.
About Mew Lettuce you're right.
About the Tokyo Tower attack its divided into parts, the girls first fight the aliens without Ichigo (before the cocoun watch) while Ichigo is in her kitty cat form.. She escapes Aoyama house, meets francois again. Alto appears and helps her regain her human form. After she regains her form the moth chimera finally hatches.
