One of the things that makes Killua and Gon really funny in a future romantic scenario is that both of them would likely think the other guy is totally out of their league.

We got Killua in canon already being like. “Gon is light……and I am darkness…he’s better than me. I could never match his light.”

Then there’s Gon, who repeatedly places Killua’s life over his own on multiple occasions.

(“It’s okay if I die but you can’t”, having no problem risking his life in Greed Island but the second he thinks Killua was in serious danger he loses it…..pushing Killua away in the CAA because he should die for failing Kite, but Killua still deserves to live.)

(I need to make a separate post about this. Anyway.)

Point is:

Gon thinks Killua is so much cooler and better than he is. Especially after the CAA, when he feels not great about himself, he sees Killua…almost said ‘as light’. He sees Killua as this really competent guy who’s a great older brother and a better friend than Gon deserves.

Killua still thinks Gon is incredible because I don’t see that much changing. After enough fun vacation time with Alluka and Nanika, he’s got better self-esteem, but he also still thinks of Gon as someone too good for him, in a way.

This started as a ‘haha that’s funny’ and somehow we ended up here

In conclusion: they both have self-worth issues.

I finally got around to rewatching hxh and, omg, I forgot about Silva leaving Killua at Heaven’s Arena when he was 6 and telling him not to return home until he reached the 200th Floor, which took him 2 years.
