Overview Proposed as part of Project: BIG CAT for the Magistracy of Canopus, the Sabretooth was designed by Majesty Metals and Manufacturing in 3146 as a hardy, brutally effective brawler.
Capabilities The Sabretooth was the most troubled of the three BIG CAT designs; early drafts were unfocused and confused messes; months of prototyping went into fitting all of the necessary components onto the frame. To accomodate the bulk of all of the components, Endo Steel was escewed in favor of more traditional materials. The 'Mech is armed with two Clan-spec ERPPCs for long range, mysteriously supplied in the same way as the Yaguara's large lasers. For closer ranges, the machine mounts five medium pulse lasers, all across the top half of the 'Mech, as well as two massive claws. These giant blades are capable of decapitating a mech in a single swipe, making the Sabretooth a terrifying force up close.
Deployment The Sabretooth is used among the Magistracy Armed Forces in much the same manner as an Atlas--find a target, approach, and make that target cease to exist, while shrugging off as much fire as possible. Indeed, the Assault 'Mech's snarling visage is starting to develop a reputation all its own.
Type: Sabretooth Technology Base: Mixed (Standard) Tonnage: 100 Battle Value: 2,547

And here's the final of the three Project: BIG CAT designs! This one has...wow, that's a lot of armor. A LOT of armor. And can swipe your head off in one punch if you're not careful! Yikes. I'm glad I'm on the same side as these things.

Rediscovered Rembrandt Valued at $15,000 Could Now be Worth 18M
A painting valued at $15,000 just two years ago is now expected to fetch up to $18 million at auction after being identified as the work of the Dutch master Rembrandt.
“The Adoration of the Kings” has been virtually unseen since the 1950s, when it first came to light.
It was acquired by collector J.C.H. Heldring in Amsterdam in 1955. His widow sold it to a German family in 1985, where it remained until it was sold by Christie’s in Amsterdam two years ago.
At the time of the sale, Christie’s attributed the biblical scene to the “Circle of Rembrandt,” suggesting it had been carried out by a student or an artist close to the famous painter, and estimated its value at between €10,000 and €15,000 ($10,600-$15,800). The monochromatic painting, which measures 9.6 x 7.3 inches (24.5 x 18.5 centimeters), was purchased by an anonymous buyer for €860,000 ($908,000) at the Christie’s sale.
Although that was more than 50 times the painting’s estimated value at the time, it is now expected to fetch millions more, after emerging as “a work of great significance” by the Dutch painter, according to a press release from Sotheby’s.
After the anonymous buyer consigned it to Sotheby’s, the auction house embarked on an 18-month research project to arrive at the painting’s true attribution and value.
The examination, which involved x-rays and infrared imaging, as well as intensive discussions with leading Rembrandt scholars, led Sotheby’s to conclude the painting is “an autograph work by Rembrandt.” It now values the work at between £10 million and £15 million ($12.2 million-$18.3 million).
The auction house believes it was painted early in Rembrandt’s career, around 1628, when he would have been about 22 and living in the Dutch city of Leiden.
A rare find
The vast majority of Rembrandt’s works hang in museums around the world, and almost all of those that have come to auction over the past three decades “have been portraits or studies of single character heads,” according to the Sotheby’s release.
As such, “The Adoration of the Kings,” which depicts the encounter between the Three Wise Men and the baby Jesus, is a “fantastic opportunity” in the art world, George Gordon, co-chairman of Old Master Paintings Worldwide at Sotheby’s.
In a phone call, he said: “I would say that it’s particularly significant because it adds to our understanding of Rembrandt at this crucial date in his development and career, when he was clearly very ambitious and developing very quickly as an artist.”
The earliest reference to the painting appears to be from the 1714 inventory of a collector in Amsterdam, Constantijn Ranst. It was then offered for sale in 1814 and again in 1822 – after which it disappeared from view until the mid-20th century.
It was included in museum exhibitions and referenced as a Rembrandt work by leading Rembrandt scholars in the 1950s, but in 1960 German art historian Kurt Bauch, who only knew the painting from a black and white photograph, described it as a product of the Rembrandt School and omitted it from from the catalogue raisonné he was compiling. Thereafter, the painting was “entirely overlooked and completely ignored in the Rembrandt literature,” according to Sothebys.
Gordon sad that those bidding at the Christie’s auction in 2021 “must have thought it was much better than the description and that it might well be a Rembrandt.”
Sotheby’s close examination revealed a number of changes and revisions that Rembrandt made, including to the baby Jesus’ halo and the Virgin Mary’s headdress, according to the auction house.
“Very few narrative paintings by Rembrandt remain in private hands, making this an opportunity for a private collector or an institution that is as rare as it is exciting,” Gordon said in the news release.
“This sophisticated painting is in equal measure a product of Rembrandt’s brush and his intellect. All the hallmarks of his style in the late 1620s are evident both in the visible painted surface and in the underlying layers revealed by science, showing multiple changes in the course of its creation, and casting fresh light on how he thought,” he added.

I’m sensitive, a weeper. If you're uncomfortable around emotion, I'm probably not for you ;(
I don't always get the joke. Sometimes I take things the wrong way. Executive Dysfunction can be frustrating. Please don't assume I'm simple. I do have standards. I do have ideologies. Sometimes my ire is more than appropriate when someone is being rude, a bully, or just a dick.
I can act like a mom or a big bro. I may encourage you to hydrate more, or eat more protein and fruit. It's because I care, not because you're not meeting standards.
Sometimes I'm very quiet and have not much at all to say. It's probably not. I'm an introvert and need to recharge. Sometimes just sitting quietly together doing our own thing is as nourishing as chatting about all the things while adventuring about town.
I nap A LOT. I sleep a long time. I can sleep almost anywhere, at any time. I'm a night owl IF I get a second wind, but I can still sleep late every. single. day. I'm more of a mid-day person than either morning or night person ;) See link to know more about the Wolf Chronotype.
I am loyal to a fault.
Friends don’t lie.
Please don’t lose my trust once you gain it.
I am moderately toy-experienced as a Top, but VERY inexperienced as a bottom. Can you teach me gently?
I don't own any formal attire and have a bitch of a time finding business-wear that fits well. My "dressed up" is pretty casual (clean, dark or black jeans, button up shirt, and blazer) and I'm a little embarrassed about it, but I'm trying to find better clothes.
I’m re-learning to do my makeup. I can always use pointers/tips/help.
Let's not be too shy about sharing our views and opinions on sensitive subjects. We may have to agree to disagree on some things. And if anything becomes a dealbreaker, so be it. Let's move on amiably. But please don’t assume that being a Christian who votes "Centrist" and has Independent friends who own guns means I’m a right-wing NRA “Trumper”. You may be surprised what MY views actually are when we get a chance to talk things out. And I'm open to new perspectives. I live with ambivalence. I prefer to make decisions knowing both/all sides to an argument.
Small talk can be awkward. Feel free to ask the deep TMI stuff early on. It's easier to learn about each other now than end up heartbroken too late. I’m really good at oversharing, too. I often can’t tell if you're offended and being stoic, or just feeling neutral about something I've said/shared. Please be patient. Let's always be open and honest with each other.
Around me there is always inappropriate laughter, burps, farts, naughty jokes, cursing. If you’re looking for LT friendship or anything intimate, you’ll eventually meet my friends and family and will need to be cool with cursing and the occasionally rank joke or discussion.
I often laugh out loud in public places, even restaurants, and sometimes I send my food back.
I don’t do well in the heat so prefer shade or indoors but definitely venture out as much as possible during the Summer.
I am trying to become debt-free. Please be willing to help pay for all outings, and easy to feed and entertain ;)

Uberfeminism, Atheistic rants, cries of Fascism, Marxists, Anarchists, or male bashing are NOT OK. This is a safe place for kind people looking to thrive.
My Aussiedog Jemma is my furever furbaby soulmate. I talk about her a lot. I also have dog hair on all my clothes and in my car. If you are allergic to dogs, or just don't like dogs, this is a Dealbreaker.
I am afraid of large bully breed dogs. If you have a mastiff or pibble or a cross of either kind, I will probably be weird around them for a while, OR may never be comfortable around them. Once bitten, twice shy.
I live with my hetero BFF and her elderly mom. I probably won’t be able to have you over for games or meals until they are comfortable knowing you for a little while. I’m sorry if this is a Dealbreaker for you. I really do want to share my space(s) with you.

Sonya Clark made a wonderful series about this:

Here is her piece "Monumental Cloth: The Flag We Should Know" where she worked with The Fabric Workshop to hand dye and weave 101 replicas of this dish towel, including one 10 times the size of the original (brought to 15 by 30 feet), a representation of the size it should have in our public memory:

In "Reversals" she used a commercially-produced Confederate flag dishrag to clean away dirt, sourced from Independence Hall and the Declaration House, to reveal the preamble to the Declaration of Independence that she stenciled into the concrete floor:

below the read more is the full post, with image descriptions in place of the images:
Original post: A screenshot, with text at the top saying "the real confederate flag." Underneath is a picture of a plain white waffle-weave dishtowel, a bit yellowed with age or use, with three red stripes at the bottom. The text underneath says: "Dish towel used by R. Lee to surrender to union forces, known as the final flag of the Confederacy" /endID
Sonya Clark made a wonderful series about this:
Image 1: A screenshot, saying: "The flag of truce’s history dates back to April 9, 1864, when Confederate General Robert E. Lee sent forth a rider waving it, putting an end to the long and deadly Civil War. Union General Ulysses S. Grant accepted the Confederacy’s surrender and cut the flag in half so that the rider, who had purchased the repurposed dishtowel just days before in Richmond, Virginia, could ensure safe passage back across Union lines.
The other half of the flag was given to Elizabeth Custer, wife of General George Armstrong Custer, who donated it to the Smithsonian Institution in 1936.
That’s where Clark first encountered it by chance in 2011, when she was wandering the National Museum of American History in Washington, DC. “This is the flag that brought the nation back together, but somehow we still know the Confederate battle flag better than the truce flag,” she told artnet News. “There’s an argument to be made that we’re still embattled as a nation. We still haven’t come to terms with racial justice and equality, with the fact that for all our spouting of democracy, we’re still a nation built on the genocide of Native people and the subjugation of African people.” " /endID
Image 2: Picture shows a white waffle-weave dishtowel, hung on a wooden pole like a flag. The caption says "Sonya Clark, in collaboration with The Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia, Woven replica of the Confederate Flag of Truce, 2019. Hand-woven linen cloth and madder dye. 18.5 x 36 inches (47 x 91.4 cm). Photo credit: Carlos Avendaño." /endID
Image 3: A giant 15x30 foot replica of the cloth, with the picture taken from the side with the tassels and 3 red stripes. In the distance, people are looking at it; they look small in comparison. /end ID
In "Reversals" she used a commercially-produced Confederate flag dishrag to clean away dirt, sourced from Independence Hall and the Declaration House, to reveal the preamble to the Declaration of Independence that she stenciled into the concrete floor:
Image 4: The words "self evident that" are stenciled into a concrete floor. Black hands (belonging to Sonya Clark) are using a wet & dirty confederate flag towel to wipe away dirt. /end ID
She has also made a version of the flag, which was divided in half after surrender, which she has sewn back together. She has used sutures, the material and technique used to repair the human body:
Image 5: Image has heading "5. Monumental cloth, sutured." Underneath are two pictures, one showing another copy of the truce flag, this time with a line of sutures vertically along the midline. The other picture is a close up of the sutures. /endID
Image 6: Screenshot that says: "
Medium: Tea stained, handwoven, linen replica of the Confederate Flag of Truce and silk suture thread
Description: In April 1865, a dishtowel was repurposed as the Confederate Flag of Truce at Appomattox, Virginia. The humble cloth ended the Civil War. It was divided in half and one half divided further. The half at the Smithsonian American History Museum compelled me to make it whole, to make it a monument of peace, an antidote to the recurring symbol of the Confederate Battle flag. This divided country is in desperate need of healing its deeply festered wound. That most people do not recognize the cloth that ended the Civil War, is evidence the war never truly ended. I offer this replica truce flag as a salve to the body of our nation." /endID
She invites audience members to step into the work, both by standing beside her to unravel Confederate flags, and then to work on looms in the gallery to contribute to the weaving of a new truce flag:
Image 7: Two pictures of Sonya Clark, a Black woman, standing next to people, while they un-weave a Confederate flag. In one picture she is standing next to an older Black woman, in another next to a White man of similar age, who she seems to be leaning in to talk to. /endID
Image 8: A young Black person with long box braids sits at a loom, which is woven with white thread. They are smiling. /endID
It's work that points out the world we live in now...
Image 9: A screenshot from an interview, which says: "When Clark and a curatorial team assembled this show in Philadelphia two years ago, they sought out red paint to pop in the exhibition's otherwise neutral palette.
Sonya Clark:
Because the Confederate flag of truce has these three minimal red stripes on it, I said, well that's the color we will use.
Jared Bowen:
The Benjamin Moore sample they inadvertently selected?
Sonya Clark:
Was Confederate red. That paint chip color, Confederate red, lived in between two other paint chip colors. One was called raspberry truffle, and the other was called cherry wine.
In between these two confections is a color that is about insurrection, about enemies of the states, about people who wanted to keep Black and brown people enslaved." /endID
...and the one that could be possible.
Image 10:
Sonya Clark:
My thought was, what would this nation be like if that was the image of the Civil War that had endured, that something was surrendered?
But, instead, we have the Confederate Battle Flag in our consciousness, yes. /endID

I've been doing some investigative reporting on the WoB forces--just a bit more digging before the landing force touches ground. I keep seeing reports related to the Helios system and some kind of WoB Assault 'Mech called the Ragnarok, but what information on it does exist is confusing and matches no technical specifications I could find. So, I gave it the old DeLacey try, dug through everything (there isn't much!) there is on the thing, and filled in the gaps based on my own 'Mech design knowledge. I'd put money on these being the specs for the Ragnarok if we do encounter one or more after touching ground. It's a mean long-ranged machine, with twin Gauss rifles and a Plasma gun to boot--be extremely careful if you see one, letting it get targeting data from a closer C3i-linked mech is a death sentence.
Ragnarok C-RAG-O
Mass: 100 tons Chassis: Standard Biped Power Plant: 200 Fusion Cruising Speed: 21.6 kph Maximum Speed: 32.4 kph Jump Jets: None Jump Capacity: 0 meters Armor: Light Ferro-Fibrous Armament: 1 LRM 20 1 Plasma Rifle 2 Gauss Rifle Manufacturer: Unknown Primary Factory: Unknown Communication System: Unknown Targeting & Tracking System: Unknown Introduction Year: 3072 Tech Rating/Availability: E/X-X-E-X Cost: 10,741,667 C-bills
Overview The Ragnarok is an Assault 'Mech that was developed by the Word of Blake. Little to nothing is known about the 'Mech's development.
Capabilities The Ragnarok, rare as it was on the battlefields of the Jihad, is mostly spoken of in rumors. Leaked after-action reports from Clan Wolf-in-Exile show the 'Mech was powered by a rating 200 fusion engine of an unknown make, as well as protected by some amount of Ferro Fibrous armor and armed with a Gauss Rifle in each arm. These reports also spoke of a "Lava Gun" that fired superheated projectiles, but this is likely a description of a Plasma Rifle by a MechWarrior unfamiliar with the weapons platform. While there were also mentions of some form of "LosTech Shield" that granted the mech invulnerable, such a device is highly unlikely. The remaining information that exists on this mech was compiled as a speculative report by 3rd SLDF Senior Warrant Officer Karrie DeLacey. While reported as Ferro-Fibrous, the armor mounted on the Ragnarok was likely a Light Ferro-Fibrous compound obtained from the Free Worlds League during the Word's time there, which also speaks to a potential timeline for the machine's production. 18.5 tons of it have been assumed given reports of the 'Mech's extreme durability. The 'Mech was likely also armed with an LRM 20, as long-ranged missile capability was reported, with additional accuracy provided by an Artemis IV Fire Control System. Two tons of Plasma rifle ammunition, three tons of LRM 20 ammunition, and 3 Tons of Gauss rifle ammunition likely gave the Ragnarok almost 2 minutes of firing, which using Double Heat Sinks it likely could without overheating so long as it stood still.
Deployment There are officially no known battles in which the Ragnarok was deployed, and if it existed it is believed to have been passed over in favor of the "holy flexibility" of the Celestial line of Omnimechs. However, unofficial reports exist of the deployment of a single Ragnarok in the Helios system during the Jihad in a battle with Clan Wolf-in-Exile, though no such battle is known to have occurred.
