Wednesday December 16, 1987
Cold. High clouds. A few stars peek through.
Lucky we saw "Our Town" the other night. "Blessed be the tie that binds".
The word this am in all my five books I'm currently reading is "seeing". Stop looking and start seeing.
Office party today___wine, fun,  laughter.
Home___ Mom comes around the corner, crying. “I want to tell you something. Sam is dead.”
Should we tell him (Dad). "No. Tell him after. After the Mansion House."
The Mansion House: Christmas Carols. Turkey dinner. Food glorious food.
Home:
We tell dad to take a deep breath
He says "tell me. Cat? Rat? George? Sam?"
Mom rounds the corner “He died this morning’
Dad “ I should have listened to you. I should have gone to see him.”
End of entry
Notes: 11/4/2024
Sam was a friend of my father’s. They had known each other since youth. In the 1940s they went to Havana Cuba and had wild times together.  In 1987, they were in their mid 60s. They had been close friends. Sam, who lived about 100 miles from where my parents lived, died of cancer.
Our Town is a play written by Thornton Wilder. It is set in three acts, representing youth, young adulthood, marriage, and the last act is about death. In the play, the church choir sings the song “Blessed be the tie that binds”. In the late 1930’s, my father played the role of George in the play. His wife in the play, Emily, dies in childbirth. Her body is taken to the town  cemetery where she talks with others who have died before her about life and death. In 1987, My parents and I had seen the play days before we learned that Sam had died. I think having just seen it helped my Dad through learning about Sam’s death..
My father told me once that he had a dream in which he had died. After death, he was at a train station. He was waiting to board a train. His friend Sam was there. My Dad died in 2000 and could finally meet Sam at the station, board the train and they could ride off into the mystery together.
In 1987 I worked for the Stanislaus County Public Defender's office. We had our Christmas party on December 16, which is the party I refer to at the beginning of the entry
"home" refers to my parent's house in Atwater California
The Mansion House was a restaurant 7 miles away in Merced, California.

1987 Buick GNX
1987 Buick GNX: A Rare Muscle car That Showed How Awesome GM Could Still Be
Let's talk about one of the most iconic cars from the 1980s – the Buick GNX. This car wasn't just a vehicle; it was a statement, a powerhouse, and a collector's dream even when it was new.
Here's What Made It Special
Ultimate Performance: In 1987, the GNX stood at the pinnacle of Buick’s turbocharged lineup. Its 3.8L V6 engine, enhanced with a Garrett T3 turbocharger and a larger intercooler, produced a formidable 276 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque. Those were BIG numbers for the time.
Limited Edition: Buick produced only 547 GNX units, each transformed by ASC McLaren Performance Technologies.
It Wasn't Just a Hopped-Up Engine: The GNX included numerous performance upgrades like a reprogrammed engine management system, a performance suspension with a torque bar, and a unique GNX rear differential cover.
It Was Lightning Fast: This car could rocket from 0 to 60 MPH in under five seconds and complete a quarter-mile in just over 13 seconds, making it one of the fastest cars of its time, and capable of running with the Big Block Muscle cars of the late 60's.
It Looked Cool: The GNX had a menacing exterior with vented fenders, a lack of hood and fender emblems, and 16-inch aluminum mesh wheels with blacked-out faces and GNX center caps.
The Car Pictured Here is an Unrestored Gem: GNX number 155 of the 547 built remains unrestored with an incredibly low 12 miles on its odometer, showcasing its pristine condition. Still, too bad nobody has ever really got to enjoy driving it.
Luxurious Interior: This GNX featured a six-way power adjustable driver's seat, GNX-badged front carpet savers, and a special instrumentation package, making the interior as impressive as its performance.
Rare Documentation: It includes the ASC McLaren GNX window sticker, listing all the unique features that made it a Grand National Experimental.
It's a Sought-After Collector Car: With its unmatched performance, limited production, and unique features, the GNX has become a highly sought-after collectible in the classic car world.
The Buick GNX wasn't just another car; it was a high-performance marvel that left a lasting legacy in automotive history.
When it comes to the grand national the GNX is the holy grail

New pictures from the set they seem to be shooting scenes with the military
March 22 / 2024
Ross posts the FIRST LOOK AT WILL BYERS!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SON💞 ( in one of the pictures he seems to be inside the radio station bunker because of a suitcase being there and also radio equipment around, the other picture is at Castle Byers with a new actor playing Young Will so it could be a flashback or a vision or something like that!! ) Jonathan is in that scene too
March 27 / 2024
They start filming at a mansion that's situated at the Smoke and Rise country club in Atlanta. Eleven was there and has a scene screaming so there's some action going on, Will was also seen there later on and he looks like he has make up on like he's experiencing the effect of possessions or not feeling well. Nancy was seen there dressed with something that resembles a candy stripers costume of a volunteer nurse, Steve's car was parked outside with the radio station van and there's an antenna over Steve's car... (my theory now is that in the pre vis something makes the antenna go down into the car for the pressure, like something hitting the car from outside that breaks it)
Still at the mansion we have two stand-in actors that have been seen, one of them seems to be called Derek and he could be either a new character or using a fake name (he kinda looks like Jonathan) and there's also this audition for a kid called Derek...
Pictures of the mansion and the decorations, a dragon, butterflies etc... 1 / 2 / 3 / 4
A look of the entire house, old pictures from Google street
April 2 / 2024
My speculation from the video of the wardrobe of s5, Max could be wearing this jacket at some point during the season
April 3 / 2024
There's the neighbourhood watch at Hawkins
April 4 / 2024
Pictures from the Instagram channel, Karen is having a bubble bath, more flashbacks from the rainbow room and Hawkins massacre and something is being filmed inside the Wheeler's house
April 6 / 2024
Eddie's actor says he knows if Eddie is coming back but he's not gonna say it...
April 7 / 2024
Not sure about this but it could be a new decoration around the mansion
April 9 / 2024
Some new pictures from the filming at the mansion and it seems Joyce and Hopper are there in that scene too, parked outside... There's also a video and the lights make it look like maybe the police is involved!
Millie posted a new old picture of her in character with the vines of the upside down in the background
to be continued...

Handsome silverdaddy with a decent body and what I like to call 'perfect hair forever.' Would just love to run my fingers though that hair of his. Kinda disappointed about the ExtenZe deal, but he has other qualities I can abuse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Johnson attended high school at Thomas Jefferson High School, now Memorial High School, in Port Arthur, Texas. Johnson played college football as a defensive lineman at the University of Arkansas between 1962 and 1964. During his time in Arkansas, he played with future Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Johnson held his first head football coaching position at Oklahoma State University from 1979 to 1983. He became Miami's head football coach in 1984 and guided the team to a college championship, before succeeding original Cowboys head coach Tom Landry in 1989. He served five seasons with the Cowboys and guided the team to two Super Bowl championships. Johnson also coached the Miami Dolphins for four seasons and led the club to the playoffs in all but his first year on the job. In all, Johnson’s record as an NFL head coach was 80-64-0 in the regular season and 9-4 in the playoffs for an overall mark of 89-68-0.

Twice married, first to Linda Kay Cooper on July 12, 1963, with whom he had two sons, divorced in January 1990. On July 18, 1999, Johnson married Rhonda Rookmaaker. I swear… why do I even bother. There isn't much else I can say about him. He's good looking and I'd love to fuck him like crazy. Like a lot of other people no doubt.

** The birth year and age of these characters are unknown because it is unclear whether these characters have aged into their listed ages or were these ages when introduced, so there is a chance that these ages are now off by one year. Thus, they may be either a year younger and have just turned that age or are all currently a year older because their birthdays have passed now.
In other words: Isagi Iyo — January 4th, 1975 OR 1976 (43 → 44 || 42 → 43) Noel Noa — April 2nd, 1987 OR 1988 (31 → 32 || 30 → 31) Jinpachi Ego — March 31st, 1988 OR 1989 (30 → 31 || 29 → 30) Dada Silva — October 23rd, 1989 OR 1990 (28 → 29 || 27 → 28) Leonardo Luna — October 31st, 1990 OR 1991 (27 → 28 || 26 → 27) Pablo Cavasoz — March 7th, 1995 OR 1996 (23 → 24 || 22 → 23)
Other things to keep in mind:
Blue Lock is supposed to be set in mid/late 2018, and the current events we see take place in 2019. Given that the series has an official setting and official ages with confirmed passage of time with people aging as their birthdays pass, characters should be born during the years listed above.
However, the birth years of certain adults (see above) can be iffy simply because there is a lack of information about them and the exact timeline of events occurring in the series. (E.g. it is known that Isagi turned 17 sometime around the PxG match, but it is unclear whether or not Noel Noa's birthday has also passed despite his birthday being the day after Isagi's.)
What is certain are the birth years of the U-20 players and the Blue Lock participants because U-20 players cannot be older than the maximum age of 20 in the year of the competition to qualify, so their oldest has to be born sometime in '99 to be able to play. As for the Blue Lock participants, the original 300 players were selected from a pool of high schoolers, so they have to be between 15-18, as Japan only has three years of high school, with each grade having a specific age range due to how the school year is arranged to start in April and end in March, as such, 1st years are always 15-16 years old, 2nd years are always 16-17 years old and 3rd years are always 17-18 years old, so everyone had to be born between '00-'03.
Extra things that came to mind as I wrote this:
— As it is currently April in Blue Lock, the 3rd year boys are technically graduated from high school, and the 1st and 2nd years should be the 2nd and 3rd years now. — Depending on how far into April it is, Yukimiya could be or turn 19. — The boys would be around 20-25 years old irl rn.

When Lily said to "name 50 villians" who are "sympathetic," that was too easy. But now that we've graduated to Lily's bullshit moving of the goal post . . . Well, being annoying is one of my special interests, so.
Naming 50 villians who, "have a point, successfully navigate still being a villian, and are well written."
(Extra challenge: trying not to repeat any of the ones Crim and Ant have already named. Sorry if I repeat one by accident.)
1. Frank, The Wasp Factory by Ian Banks
2. Brandy Alexander, Invisible Monsters by Chunk Palahniuk
3. AM, I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream by Halan Ellison
4. Willy Loman, Death of a Salesman
5. Shylock, The Merchant of Venace
6. Beloved, Beloved by Toni Morrison
7. The Cenobites, The Hell Bound Heart, Hellraiser (1987), Hellraiser 2, Hellraiser (2022)
8. Starro, The Suicide Squad
9. Can't name this character without spoilers for Invincible, but the character who ends up with their brain in a jar at the end, Invincible (comic)
10. Goff, Peacemaker
11. Rorschach, Watchman (comic)
12. Ozymandias, Watchman (comic)
13. The Comedian, Watchman (comic)
14. Can't name this character again because spoilers, but the last person Hughie fights, The Boys (comic)
15. Mr. Freeze, Batman (comic and animated series)
16. Christiane, Eyes Without a Face
17. Ryu, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
18. Dong-jin, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
19. Lee Woo-jin, Old Boy (2003)
20. Lee Geum-ja, Lady Vengance

31. Master, Reason by Isaac Asimov
32. Hanna, Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage
33. The Artist, Mermaid in a Manhole
34. Red Death, The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allen Poe
35. Father Paul, Midnight Mass
36. Death, Fall of the House of Usher
37. Death, The Seventh Seal
38. Hell, No Exit
39. Winslow Leach, Phantom of the Paradise
40. May, May
41. Jean Jacket, Nope
42. Hayley, Hard Candy
43. Red, Us
44. Violet Hubbard, Penance by Eliza Clark
45. Charles Kinbote, Pale Fire by Vladimir Nobokov
46. You, House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
47. Tess Clark, Haunted by Chunk Palahniuk
48. "Oba Yozo", No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai
49. Asami, Audition (Novel and film)
50. Arsriel, His Dark Material by Philip Pullman.
A few of these are malicious compliance-- but Lily made the rules, not me. I made sure to scatter them in the list, so, good luck to her picking them out considering she only watches cartoons, lol.

Helena Bertinelli/Huntress Reading List/Completionist Guide
Tumblr media
Helena Bertinelli is the Huntress of Prime Earth. She has existed as a character since 1989, and has appeared in her own series as well as multiple other series throughout the years. Most well known for being a Bird of Prey, she has a long history that tends to be hard to track. Instead of hunting down all of the issues, this guide has every one of her appearances in the attempt to follow her chronologically, but where her movements couldn’t be followed the natural passing of time was used to follow the story.
This is both a reading list and a completionist guide. This means there will be times when the issue only has a cameo of Helena. For a casual reader this list may be a little much. If that is the case click [here] for a shorter list that can get you started on Helena.
Moving onto Content Warnings.
There will be mentions and depictions of Sexual Assault of Adults and Minors, Slavery, PTSD, and Murder. These are some of the big Content Warnings. That being said let’s get started.

OWEN MERCER READING GUIDE
Owen Mercer is the son of Digger Harkness (Captain Boomerang) and Meloni Thawne, having been conceived while Digger was trapped in the 30th century. Owen never got to learn Meloni was his mother, and it was never revealed how Owen was sent back to the 21st century.
Owen longed to meet his birth father, but when Digger was killed after a mission to assasinate Tim Drake's father Jack Drake, Owen took the mantle of Captain Boomerang, Jr.
Owen's time in comics was short, but eventful. He was a member of the Rogues, Suicide Squad, SSoSV and Outsiders; before he was killed in Blackest Night.
Owen Mercer is brothers with Bart Allen aka Impulse.
This list contains all the comics Owen had been in, in chronological order.
Happy reading!

Who is...Sam Guthrie | Cannonball? - A Reading Guide
Tumblr media
Sam Guthrie is an X-Men and Avengers affiliated mutant from Marvel Comics. Sam is the oldest of the nine Guthrie children and is the definition of parentification having dropped out of high school to work in the coal mines that killed his father (in either a mine accident or through black lung depending on your preferred retcon). Sam's powers would manifest during a mining accident and allowed him to blast through the rock to safety. Sam would then join the team he's most associated with, the New Mutants. Sam's story is one of overcoming adversities, determination, and of healing. Some of Sam's earlier stories show him being groomed by Lila Cheney and the adults in charge of his safety enabling her.
Sam is also excellent Appalachian representation and is one of the first Appalachian main characters to not be ashamed of being Appalachian while simultaneously not being based on hillbilly humor.
You'll find a reading list under the cut! The list will need to be posted in multiple parts due to length, subsequent parts will be added as reblogs.
Part 1 below!
Introduction and New Mutants Era
Sam's first team immediately after introduction was the original New Mutants (1983). Throughout this period Sam develops the close bonds he's known for, particularly with teammates Roberto Da Costa (Sunspot), Dani Moonstar (Mirage), and Rahne Sinclair (Wolfsbane). New Mutants was written by Chris Claremont and while wonderful, drops the ball in many places, one of which being the way that Sam's dialect is written and the sort of general understanding of Appalachia, as well as a refusal to acknowledge that Sam's relationship with Lila Cheney was based upon grooming. The issue that introduces Lila to Sam's story will have a red asterisk and a trigger warning next to it.
Marvel Graphic Novel (1981) #4 New Mutants (1983) #1-12 Marvel Team-Up (1972) # Annual 6 New Mutants (1983) #13-21 Rom (1982) #Annual 3 New Mutants (1983) # Annual 1 * (TW: Grooming) New Mutants (1983) #23-25 Marvel Team-Up (1972) #149 New Mutants (1983) #29 (Lila is in this issue) New Mutants (1983) #30-34 New Mutants Special Edition (1985) #1 Uncanny X-Men (1981) #201 (definitely not a necessary issue, but it's one that highlights that Sam IS smart, he's just really bad at technology) New Mutants (1983) #37 Firestar (1986) #2 New Mutants (1983) #38-40, 42-44, Annual 2, 45-51, Annual 3, 52 Fallen Angels (1987) #1 (this issue is a good look into Sam and Berto's relationship) New Mutants (1983) #53-66 Spellbound (1988) #4 (Lila's in this issue and you can see the way she almost treats Sam like an accessory) New Mutants (1983) #Annual 4A-B, 67-76, Annual 5A, 77-92, Annual 6A Wolverine: Rahne of Terra (not incredibly Sam focused and it's a bit..different, but what there is of Sam I like) New Mutants (1983) #93-100, Annual 7A
X-Force, X-Men, and X-Force Again
After the end of New Mutants, under the direction of Cable, Sam helped found the team, X-Force, and would be appointed Cable's second-in-command. While in New Mutants we got to see a Sam Guthrie who was coming into his powers, X-Force really gives us a glimpse of a Sam Guthrie who is starting to really apply those powers and who is starting to highlight why the character has come to be known as a powerhouse. During this period we see Sam go from a member of X-Force, to becoming a fully fledged X-Men, and then see him re-join X-Force until the team is disbanded. The change from X-Force to X-Men to X-Force are not represented in different sections as there is still overlap in Sam's character interactions and throughout his period on the X-Men, his former X-Force affiliation is an important factor that helps inform his choices and his outlook on situations, although I have tried to signify the changes with breaks in the text block.
New Warriors (1990) # Annual 1A Uncanny X-Men (1981) #Annual 15A X-Factor (1986) #Annual 6A X-Force (1991) #1-3 Spider-Man (1990) #16 X-Force (1991) #4-5 X-Factor (1986) #77 X-Force (1991) #Annual 1C, 6-15 X-Cutioner's Song Event (this links you to a reading list I made for the event) X-Men (1991) #17 New Warriors (1990) #31 X-Force (1991) #19-26, Annual 2, 27-29, 32-33 New Warriors (1990) #46 X-Force (1991) #34-37 Cable (1993) #15 X-Factor (1986) #106 X-Force (1991) #38 Excalibur (1988) #82 X-Force (1991) #39-45 Uncanny X-Men (1981) #323-325 Wolverine (1988) #93

Splinter Vanishes is one of the saddest episodes in any tmnt canon, to me
obviously it's a very different style of storytelling than, say, SAINW
but. like.
they're just so sad guys, and it brings attention to some of the really personal and difficult realities of their existence that are usually ignored or played for laughs, because it's a comedy
But Splinter calling himself their teacher and the video he left saying 'I am no longer your teacher and it's time to find your own way--' painful reminded that the 1987 turtles and Splinter, while they always act as a family, don't have a solidified assurance of it. Shredder was also once Splinter's student. Splinter used to be human. This isn't the only time where we see the turtles thinking that he not only might, but perhaps even should, leave them someday.
And the way they mutated into teenagers, turtle ages being different from human ages messing with their normal developmental stages and kind of robbing them of a childhood. Or at least making it confusing for themselves and Splinter exactly what milestones they should be hitting or what is age appropriate expectations. Like it's not ever textual but this is one of those episodes that makes me think 'oh,, they're young for their age in so many ways and old for their age in others, and everyone expects them to act old for their age and protect the city but no one seems to remember about the ways they're developmentally behind because of what they went through and actually need extra support' (childhood trauma) (it's fine I'm fine no tears here)
Like they've never acted more like anxious young teens in need of security and validation than in the episode where they all get jobs. Which Leonardo literally says he did in order to pay for pizza
Even just the way Leonardo and Michelangelo were so determined to obey Splinter, just like speaking as a teacher comes across to me so much more 12 or 13 (only just grew out of obedience being a vital survival skill) vs 16-17 (how old they usually seem to me based on what they get up to and how they act). Raphael and Donatello's protests also comes across younger than usual. And this is a very vulnerable moment for them so it makes sense that they seem a bit more like kids, but it really makes it seem that much more concerning when they all go out and get jobs
Leonardo tells April he'd like to visit Donatello with her but work is keeping him too busy
Raphael is so embarrassed by April seeing him at the birthday party, and normally an embarrassed Raphael would be sassy but he's just so depressed
Donatello watches whatever cooking show Michelangelo goes on. And later after his shop gets blown up and a strange car pulls up--clearly there to kidnap him--he walks right up and is very easy to kidnap because he's fully expecting that after experiencing something scary his brothers have come to check on him
Michelangelo had been fired from five cooking shows and keeps getting himself hired at another. He's sixteen. Again this is highlighting something they always deal with which is that the press uses them however is convenient, as spectacles or scapegoats. In this case it's the fact that a sixteen-year-old who keeps getting fired from these shows is hired again, and it's not textual but it makes me think about more Bern Thompsons who are thinking about the views from having a turtle on their show even if he only lasts one episode. And the fact that he gets taken advantage of in that way while he's in such a vulnerable state
Same thing with Raphael's birthday party gig
To a lesser extent Leonardo's fitness training, too, like maybe it's less intimidating to sign up for a class if instead of saying to yourself 'I need to get in shape' you can say 'whoa a talking turtle, I gotta see what this is like'
And they're so sad the while time they're apart guys
