Danny Fenton, aka Phantom, has been given a new task!

In short, literally no one in the Ghost Zone/Infinite Realms wants their mostly peaceful afterlife to be rocked by a certain Gotham rogue named Joker. Which, when he dies, is almost sure to happen because of whatever the hell was in that vat he dropped in included ectoplasm. So, yay, he’s also a little ghostly too, meaning he *is* pretty hard to kill. Unfortunately, there’s also a certain vigilante that is quite keen to murder him in recent years.

So now Danny has to keep the mass murderer trauma clown alive for as long as he possibly can while attempting to keep the Joker from. Well. Being the Joker.

Oh, and naturally, Danny got this assignment AFTER Joker got out of Arkham. Again. And entirely blew up the asylum. Time to join the Goonion, he is NOT doing this without getting PAID, thank you.

It's kind of fascinating to me that towards the end of P&P, Elizabeth has become protective of Darcy and either a) actively tries to insulate him from Situations or b) wishes that she could and gets stressed that she can't.

Darcy deeply loves her and is very ready to do whatever he can to secure her happiness, but narratively, I think the emphasis at the end is very much more on Elizabeth's protectiveness towards him.

It's like:

When Bingley and Darcy first come back to Hertfordshire, Darcy is very quiet and Elizabeth can barely bring herself to say anything—until Mrs Bennet insults Darcy. Then Elizabeth speaks up.

Mrs Bennet enlists Elizabeth to separate Darcy from Bingley with another insult to Darcy. Elizabeth finds this both convenient and enraging.

That day, Elizabeth decides to privately tell Mrs Bennet about her engagement to Darcy, specifically so that Darcy will be spared Mrs Bennet's first unfiltered response.

Elizabeth fiercely defends Darcy's character and love for her, as well as hers for him, to Mr Bennet. She not only says she loves Darcy but that it upsets her to hear Mr Bennet's criticisms of him.

Elizabeth is both relieved by Mrs Bennet's ecstatic reception of the engagement and a bit disappointed by how completely shallow she's being about it, and 100% sure she made the right call in keeping Darcy away.

Elizabeth defends Darcy against Darcy himself, repeatedly.

There's a period where Elizabeth seems to unwind and laugh, but this passes, especially after Charlotte and Mr Collins show up. Darcy manages to stay calm around Mr Collins (I think this is framed as a significant and admirable achievement for him), but Elizabeth does not like him being in a situation where he has to deal with Mr Collins in the first place.

Elizabeth tries to shield Darcy from being noticed by Mrs Phillips and Mrs Bennet, who do seem to make him pretty excruciatingly uncomfortable.

Ultimately, Elizabeth ends up trying to keep Darcy to herself or to shepherd him around to relatives he can handle more easily, and is so stressed at this point that she just wants to get married and escape to Pemberley.

After their marriage, things are actually great at Pemberley and in their married life, despite the occasional complication.

Lydia writes a congratulatory letter to Elizabeth, asking for Darcy to get Wickham a promotion unless Elizabeth would rather not bring it up with him. Elizabeth really does not want Darcy to have to deal with this and handles it by privately setting aside a Lydia fund out of her personal expenses. (IIRC, it's not clear if Darcy even knows about this.)

Elizabeth also is the driving force behind Darcy's reconciliation with Lady Catherine.

This could read as an unsettling, unbalanced dynamic and a very odd ending point for the arc of a woman like Elizabeth, but in the context of the overall novel, it doesn't feel that way. Or maybe I'd see it more that way if I interpreted Darcy (and for that matter, Elizabeth) + their arcs differently? But as it is, I do think that by this point in the story they are genuinely doing the best they can, independently and for each other, and they've both come a long way. They shine in different contexts and support each other as much as they can in the circumstances that do arise.

It seems very them, in terms of their temperament and abilities, that Elizabeth would put all this effort into shielding Darcy, while at the same time, Darcy completely cuts off Lady Catherine for insulting Elizabeth and only ever speaks to her again because Elizabeth wants him to.

#one of the things that really works about darcy/elizabeth for me is how much they're kind of the apotheosis of each other's types #like the people elizabeth is closest to—jane charlotte and mr bennet #are very different people but they're quiet and private and strong-willed and stubborn and intelligent #and darcy is totally the full throttle version of that type #and darcy is obviously drawn to cheerful outgoing lively charisma bombs with minds of their own #(even in his youth this was kind of true w/ pre-villainy wickham)#(then there's fitzwilliam and bingley and elizabeth herself)#and nobody is more peak that type than elizabeth bennet #they're totally each other's types and like. darcy is blatantly ride or die for elizabeth #while end of the book elizabeth is so far from being intimidated or awed by him that she's sweeping in to save him #in a way that i suspect nobody has really attempted for a long time #anghraine babbles #long post #anghraine's meta #elizabeth bennet #fitzwilliam darcy #otp of otps #(obviously this is particularly endearing w/ the autistic!darcy headcanon)#(neither of them could ever know why he's like that and in their society it's probably for the best that they don't know tbh #but they make it work anyway)

As wonderfully tragic as it would be for simon and bob to have been the two people who died in the accident that happened before he worked for goddard futuristics, im on the side that jacobi is midland after the events of wolf 359, because that man deserves to have at least two friends that aren’t dead.

#rewatched the ep and ok firstly i Really like it i specifically love the way it’s structured #and you really get to like see the entire work day from before they get assigned the job to finishing it #but i need to say the like. themes in this episode are making me a little bonkers #like you have both the sorta side plot documentary thing and the main like client objective of the episode be about two people overcoming-#their differences and coming together to support eachother . followed by #that thing charlie says to pim at the very end of the episode #Why . did charlie say that why did he feel the need to say that to pim in that moment #AND ANOTHER THING I NOTICED WITJ THAT #the version of it from the deleted(??) teaser is Different #the first part of it where he says ‘pim i never thought id say this to you’ ISNT ACTUALLY THERE #ITS NOT IN THR EPISODE ITS EDITED IN. This is the worst security I’ve seen in my entire life.

#where do I even start?#this top secret invisible bomb (super important. definitely.)#is kept in basically a cardboard box #with the words TOP SECRET slapped on the side in giant lettering #backed in bright yellow just to highlight how super secret this thing in the unsecured cardboard box is #and this box is also clearly labeled with exactly what is inside #presumably at the top of a nutrition label listing off the names and quantities of every single ingredient in this bomb #for the convenience of any interlopers who might not be in the know #(it’s very secret you see. most people don’t know anything about it. so we must make that information very easy to access.)#and all of this is kept in a room with a giant sign that reads TOP SECRET #in case any potential bomb-thieves get lost. they’ll have a very easy time locating the room they’re looking for.#(really any rational person would assume the door was an over-obvious decoy.)#(…perhaps this was intentionally designed as a *double* fake-out?)#(that’s probably too generous of an assumption. mr lodge is not playing 4D chess. he’s just bad at security.)#the lock is normal and easy apparently #and the building is way too easy to break into #they got in through a window #look I know this is just one of those things that happens in old action stories sometimes. things are ridiculously convenient.#but as you may have realized by now it amuses me to nitpick and break down every aspect of a thing #seriously though when he said ‘this is an invisible bomb! it says so on the box!’ I lost it #IT SAYS SO ON THE BOX #MR LODGE WHAT ARE YOU DOINGGGG #archie comics #the man from R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E.

i love defending pete wentz against the mania haters who call him the music industry's mr krabs bc he sucks in other ways.

To have a frightening organic motion for the movements of the mechanical alien Brainiac and his ship, Henson could source the only way to make this ambitious project simultaneously affordable and effective.

just beginning to settle for me how reflective of our culture it is that the current biggest meme online is the fact that barbie and oppenheimer coincidentally come out on the same day. barbie is a multi million dollar plot by matel both to sell more products and to increase media engagement since that's where the future is for advertising their products and oppenheimer is a dramatization of the only time nukes were ever used in war that targeted two civilian cities and killed thousands upon thousands of innocent people from the perspective of the man who developed it and viewed it as a necessary evil to end a war that was basically already over. girlbosses and bombs! isn't everyone having fun

#I feel like a kill joy but man it's so strange #I'll probably end up watching the barbie movie but it's crazy to me that no one is unsettled by how big of a deal #barbie has made itself. managed to ruin my own day which was already being ruined by winking island fun times. when i was clearing out my inventory to pass the preperation checks i used some of it to send feast gifts to my other alts and some friends. so at some point while I'm in the middle of a round of endlessly circling the well, i accept the gifts on my alts, forgetting that it gives some items to the sender

my seeking alt finishes their pass through the island and resets to preparations and MYSTERIOUSLY now has illegal items in their inventory despite them not being possible to obtain on the island. took me forever to figure out why. 100% played myself smh pressing F in the chat

#I'd be mad but it's too funny #i still have some waiting to be accepted sitting in my messages like time bombs #fallen london #seeking mr eaten's name #smen #flmp #mp #all my characters out enjoying the feast and this poor bastard is stuck on winking island #just realized what i should do is use my 60+ orphans that currently represent my wealth to get nightwhispers for this weekend #sell them at a profit at the rat market to get resources to send more gifts #make sure i actually accept them all before i go back this time #it's the closest i can come to transferring wealth between characters #since they can use it to get good companions

so far his dark materials season 3 has made some narrative choices that make sense for "big tv moments" but really seem to take away from the amber spyglass' story
