hiiiiii corpsoirrr can you tell me about archaeology please

alright listen. heres my scatter-brained personal thoughts on it. so my favourite part of archaeology isnt the digging. sure digging is fun and i admire people who can sit in a muddy wet ditch 8 hours a day in snow and rain while not finding anything just because the city needs to build a new road or something, but the coolest and most interesting thing to me is what happens after the objects have been dug up.

where do the things go? how can we fit everything in some building somewhere? what are the processes for accessioning and deaccessioning like? what stuff is kept and what is discarded? who gets to chose what is kept and what is destroyed? is it our right to destroy things? these are the kind of questions in archaeology that interest me more, the management of cultural heritage after its been dug up. the museum part of archaeology! connecting the people to history and making it available for everyone, connecting people from all over the world to our collective human past, or connecting people to their own heritage and ancestors though repatriation and restitution in different forms, whether its digital repatriation or physical. all of that is the part of archaeology im really passionate about!

and like sure i dont have thaaat much experience with field work, ive done a few courses with field work and digging and stuff but i already know that its the caring for objects and curating collections and making them available for everyone that interests me more. my internship right now is a lot about that! im interning at an archive and i love going into the archive and read the correspondence for certain collections and getting to know the collections a lot closer. i cant even describe the feeling i get, its like im following along the people involved. its the humanity of it all that gets me going

comics as an art form make me insane. they’re so difficult to do well. there’s so many different ways to make sequential art work and most of them are deeply unintuitive. onomatopoeia that feels completely ridiculous to put down often reads seamlessly. panels on a page become a fractally nested image composition challenge that’s only possible to lose because if you do a good job no one will notice. you have to direct the readers’ eyes on a specific path across the page but also account for the fact that they won’t follow it. comic time isn’t linear. if the order of events isn’t crystal clear the story becomes incomprehensible. sometimes you need to do this on purpose. all this for a medium almost universally considered less effective than animation and less respectable than plain text. even its own name doesn’t take it seriously

Ahh, there go. Their fingers almost intertwine, then shift as if they’re going to hold hands, and then finally settle into simply being placed against each other. Even then, Crowley’s fingers are wrapped ever so slightly against Aziraphale’s hand. The way their hands slide into the final position too… it literally looks like something clicking into place.

This 1 second long scene has managed to capture my attention for all of the morning. Michael Sheen and David Tennant, your acting never fails to amaze me. Holy shit.

Rarely where those three words ever spoken aloud.

They came in soft touches, analysing eyes checking you over for injuries at the ends of a patrol. Shouldering your weight on the times you cant walk. Cause god knows you're too stubborn to let him carry you, even with a shot leg.

They came in a secure hand on the small of your back as he guides you through the crowds of yet another gala he was forced to attend. His hand inching lower reminding him that maybe the outfits you wore were worth the hours of socialites.

They came in the soft moments. Sliding through the window after another mission with the outlaws. Heart fluttering at the sight of you sleeping on his side of the bed, one of his shirts swallowing your frame. Quietly approaching, memorising ever detail and brushing stray hairs away from your face.

louis and armand brought in a 70 year old journalist slowly dying of a degenerative disease to save their marriage and instead one of them has talked to the old man about how obsessed with his ex he is to a point that it's revealed a rift in the marriage they didn't even know existed, and the other desperately wants to fuck that old man. and is probably going to. we've reached a level of failmarriage previously unknown to man.
