I'm not sure which is more surprising, the fact I finished this, the fact I photographed this, or the fact it actually fits. Usually I get two out of the three at best.

Anyway, this is my creatively titled "red dragon dress" which I sort of made to celebrate House of the Dragon being back, but also because I like dragons and wanted an excuse to use some of the many scale print fabrics I have hoarded while on my time away from making things.

(I may not be inspired to sew but I am always inspired to waste money on Etsy.)

It was made from a chemically pleated satin, a red jacquard, black brocade, and probably like forty yards of trim. It was fun to play with fabrics and texture again, I must say, even if this project tested my patience at times!

In total it took about 9 days of work from design to drafting to completion, spread over a period of two weeks. Made and modeled by me, as per usual.

breaking my silence. my rly truly nit pick about the cr character designs is the weird abundance of skin-tight trousers. corsets and very fitted shirts whatevre. but rly skintight trousers is crazy to me i reject the idea that exandria has invented elastane or spandex when theres not a single other plastic item in the show . they dont even have seams or lacing or anything a lot of the time. how aer they getting them on over their feet. why is yasha wearing jeggings

How did you go about redesigning the clothes in you remaster?

Ooh great question! I'll go into more detail below, but the gist is that I broke down each character into their vibes and general aesthetic and tried fitting it to my design biases.

I tend towards more grounded designs than the original JRPG-inspired armour and clothes, so I referenced a lot of medieval fashion for the setting. You'll usually see me covering bared skin in battle outfits or toning down extra details I struggle to draw

Then, using those references, I'd try to thumbnail basic shapes and colours to figure out which works best

For some characters like Iseul, I didn't feel much need to change his outfit so I mostly toned down the detail to suit my style. I shifted the colour scheme to something warmer and removed the fur and extra armour to serve his image as animal-loving and battle-avoidant. This serves as great contrast to his timeskip outfit where he then commits to being both a warrior and a prince, with more ornamentation and practical armour

I designed Helena and Alain as contrasts. They have very similar themes and designs, so I decided to smooth Alain down into the picture-perfect metal knight while Helena's wilder and asymmetric. I referenced more realistic armour for Alain but overall I wanted to keep his clothes similar.

For Helena, my design style is more practical and thematically I want to avoid Helena baring skin and vulnerability so I extended her corset into more of a chest armour and covered her other thigh. To add to her duality of magic and metal, I gave one arm armour and bared the other to show off magical scars.

August and Altea's designs are where I start to venture off into more vibes-based outfits. August is humble and traditional, a knight with proud loyalty to his Lord and family, so I gave him medieval colours to represent both on his tabard. The armour is still there, but it's less focus on metal and more on "cheaper" materials to serve as a contrast to his timeskip where he becomes a proper knight in shining armour. For that reason, I took away the cape and other unnecessary decoration.

Then Altea is flashy, wealthy, and bright. I kept the focus on light armour, with scalemail as the only obvious protection. I've mentioned before but I took inspiration from south east asian fashion (mostly cambodia and malaysia) as a grounded but ornate basis for her magical girl theme. Here the colour scheme and fabrics are what mostly connects it to the original

Similarly, Lennox is where vibes rule and the overal aesthetic changes quite a bit. He's often described with "choir boy" hair, so I wanted to combine choir robes with ornate priestly outfits to sell him as a vain cult-leader. I kept the symmetry, long coat, and lack of obvious armour, but I wanted him to look less modern and stick with less structured outfits.

One thing specific to the generals, is that I wanted to give them more of a variety to colour palettes to sell that while they're working together, they're not exactly happy about it. While they all have a focus of blue and silver to keep them cohesive, they each have a motif: Alain - silver, Helena - pale blue, Jinhai - brown, Lennox - dark blue, Magnus - turquoise

I don't have the patience for cosplaying anymore but I do have a love of dragons and desire to either be/be married to Rhaenyra Targaryen so here is a dress inspired by her that I've been working on while awaiting season 2.

The hem is not done and I think it needs some sort of belt buckle (maybe in the shape of a dragon because I'm creative) but it is a good start. There is a video about making the bodice here and I'll probably post some WIP photos on the process in the coming days.

...assuming I'm not too busy crying because this show is going to ruin me, I just know it.

been getting back into last legacy because I miss it (so bad. awful. like genuine brainrot so bad) and I was wondering what you might’ve thought an anisa redesign would’ve looked like, the way we got Sage and Felix redesigns in chapter 12 (I think?) of their routes

That's a really interesting question! So, looking at Felix and Sage, there are a few patterns:

Sluttier: They expose more skin with slightly more provocative clothes, with lots of straps, belts, and leathers

Role exaggeration: Where Sage and Felix were a mage and rogue respectively, those elements turn up to 11, with more armour, accessories, and exaggerated silhouettes

Darker and edgier: The colour palettes are darker and they're both struck with a magical injury of some sort. That gives Sage his eyepatch and Felix having to expose his chest

Out of the trio, Anisa is both the brightest in colours and the most conservative in covering skin, so while I want to follow these elements, it's less prominent than with Sage and Felix.

Anisa's role is the knight and she's black-and-white caught between morality and legacy of good and evil. Leaning into an exaggerated knight with high contrast colours would serve this well. As for the magical injury... I didn't decide on one at the time of drawing, but I think since she'd previously cut her palm to use the Lord of Shadow's blood, maybe a classic cursed hand/arm?
