When this blog started, never in a million years could I have guessed what it would become. I thought, at most, a few people would come by, laugh at me for like a week, and then forget me and move on to the next big gimmick blog. And, most definitely, that’s where I would be if not for the lovely, dedicated, passionate people I ran into.

Here’s a quick history lesson, with many thankyous scattered within..

It all really started when my lovely friend Sam, who doesn’t use tumblr, suggested I create a new gimmick blog where every day all I said was “I want ___” (with the tags, of course, all reading, “I want ___”.) I decided on tennis ball, and for about a week I vigilantly workee to ensure a tennispost every day. And things were good, then, if a little quiet, until I decided to start a reblog chain with myself, @sophiamoment , where I’d ask “what the fuck is your blog” and then my side blog would just say “I want tennis ball”.

Now, as you could probably tell, I didn’t put too much care into the post at the time. I broke character, forgot to edit out the heaps of evidence that we were the same person, replied to my own post way too many times, but THEN.

My first mutual, @somewhere-south-of-neutral , tagged @i-say-ok , who FUCKING RESPONDED. (guess what they said lmao)

This brought lots of attention to that particular post, first by the I say Ok community, then by another gimmick blog reblogging, and then by THAT gimmick blog’s community, and so on. To this day my one goal in life is to relive that pure excitement, joy, and just a little horror I felt when I saw just how far that post was breaking beyond containment.

Honestly, if you’d asked me then, I’d assume that from there my blog shoulda died, but then. ohoHOH.

A blog whose URL I forget going by A Tennis Ball responded.

I promptly created @another-tennis-ball in response.

And then things went, as my gramma would say, hog wild.

Today, we’ve got a masterlist of tennis ball roleplay blogs longer than my list of flaws. We’ve got active, inactive, sometimes-active accounts, all of whom have had fun just.. talking, pretending to be tennis balls, just having a good time. (Even my parents got involved!) There’s a discord, a lore doc, an upcoming crossover w/ a DND campaign my friend wrote(?!)

And, here we are today.

So we have synesthesia, this means our senses are a bit fucked and things are Weird [sound has colour. Taste has colour. Colour has feeling. Words have colours. Sooooo many colours dhdjsjsjfjfs]. It's actually kinda common and a fun rabbit hole to fall down if you ever want something to look up on Wikipedia lmao but anyways!

We usually go with vibes when it comes to colour associations but we also don't Choose what associations we get for what colour if that makes sense. I thiiink our reasons for associating y'all with DARK blue specifically is because your blog theme is mainly black, but your url is a lighter blue! The purple comes from, well. For us blue and purple are heavily associated with each other [for no reason really fjdjsjskdkd they're like brothers to us. But Heart and I forming here and being associated with blue and purple respectively just made that association stronger LMAO] so it's like a "you can't separate them" thing.

hmmm hmmm this one's tough. I think foremost that I wouldn't have a great rapport with. mostly anyone on the expedition because I'm pretty clumsy and forgetful and they'd think me incompetent for that 😭 but strictly on an interpersonal dynamic level I'd have to say I think I'd get along very well with goodsir. I think he yearns for someone to listen to him and take him seriously, and I think I could have been his listening ear if he'd let me. I also think I'd get on well with fitzjames because I think he just wishes to be empathized with and for everyone to be a little more sensitive, a little more emotional and in touch with themselves. I am. definitely that. lol. as for people I wouldn't get along with.. I wish I could say I'd befriend hickey, but I think we're too similar in all the wrong ways for it to end in anything but rivalry. we're both covetous and attention seeking and need to be in control of a situation, with a deeply ingrained instinctive thought that if we could just get everyone to listen to us, they'd be okay. I think those traits would clash and he'd end up not liking me. irving might smell my gay vibes and hate me also.

chernobyl hbo is my favourite show ever of all time and it is the best show ever of all time factually contractually legally clinically and undisputably. i genuinely love every single facet of that show. it's what inspired me to get into researching nuclear radiation and that's what eventually led me to meet my partner ! i love that show so much it changed my life literally. i cried so hard. if you haven't watched it please do so on your platform of choice ( legal or no ) because it's genuinely amazing

neon genesis evangelion is probably one of my favourite shows ever of all time too, it hit so close to home and i'm obsessed with it. and even though none of the characters canonically have personality disorders, i find asuka and shinji to be super good representations of hpd and avpd respectively, which is great because you usually never see those anywhere ! it's so good. i also loved serial experiments lain but it hit too close to home in a way that i never want to watch it ever again because i think it will do irreparable damage to my psyche. but i really enjoyed it !

OTHERWISE i'm actually not much of a... show girlie. i like friday night dinner though i literally forgot it existed until my beloved mentioned it right now. um. most of the stuff i watch is like hell's kitchen, four in a bed, don't tell the bride, that type of shit because i'm apparently 47 years old. i have been watching dorohedoro, chainsaw man, and spy x family with my partner though !

Oof. Definitely have to think about this one. As a musician myself, I like a variety of genres, and usually like them because of the music/rhythm vs liking them for the lyrics. So I don't think of songs as 'good' or 'bad,' just 'oh yeah I feel this' or 'yeah no this is boring me in three different ways right now'.

If we're talking emotional impact, I Forgot That You Existed is one of the very few songs that actually impacted me when I needed it, after exiting an abusive relationship a couple of years prior and still feeling like I would never be able to get my abuser out of my head. It's pretty perfect, I think.

Yeah...it's not earth-shatteringly clever. I was one of those newbies who just tossed my initials into the username registration on ff.net for my first-ever fanfics decades ago, and by the time I realized internet people actually were going to read what I wrote and use my username, it was a little late to change it.

KCS was (obviously) too short for a LiveJournal handle, and so I switched to that back in the day as a half-assed attempt at the aforementioned cleverness, since my LJ was just my pre-AO3 fic archive. I don't think I've ever given out my real name anywhere in any fandom, so there's your only clue.

I've thought about choosing something different over the years, but figured it would just make stuff harder to find. That's assuming anyone rereads my scribblings. :)

hey so like can you believe I’ve come this far  ???  I’ve been back on Percy here not even a year and you all have shown me such support and excitement it truly makes rping and developing Percy an absolute blast  !!!  I know I’m not the biggest on posting bias lists but this is a huge milestone for me and I really did want to give a shoutout to the people who not only keep me here but are both friends I talk to daily or blogs I admire for their own dedication to their muse  (  art cred.  ).

Thanks for doing the ask game! 20 is breaking the rules. I haven’t written in a while, so sorry if it’s not the best, but here it is. Also the formatting might be messed up since I’m on mobile.

Summary: Susie and Noelle wanted to have a cool night where they could watch a bunch of episodes of their favorite show, but the streaming service they have access to through noelles parents doesn’t have it on there, so Susie suggests Piracy.

“You mean like a date? Really?” Noelle wanted to make sure she was interpreting what Susie had said right.

Susie turned to the side and put a hand behind her head, her hair hiding her eyes even more. “Well, only if you want it to be…” Noelle was touched. Noelle couldn’t believe a cool girl like Susie wanted to go out with her! She was barely keeping herself from jumping around. “So what do you… what do you wanna do?” Susie was looking her in the eyes now.

“Um… maybe we could watch a movie, or a show or something?” Noelle suggested.

“Oh, I know! You could show me that cartoon you were talking about! If you uh… if you want to, anyway.”

Oh geez, Noelle hadn’t thought that Susie would actually be interested when she brought it up. She’d still follow through and watch it with her, but she was a bit embarrassed about her own taste. “Um, sure. What time?”

“Can we do 11? Like in the morning?” Susie asked.

“I’m pretty sure that works for me. So… see you then I guess?”

“Uh, sure. I’ll see you later.”

Noelle and Susie had parted ways from in front of the school, and Noelle was in her room, gushing. She was just so happy that she finally had a real official date with the girl she liked! Of course Noelle was still in fear of it going horribly horribly wrong, but she was able to put that fear aside for the most part. As well as how she always felt guilty thinking about Susie, and even guiltier now that something was actually happening. Ah, she should probably start preparing for the date to make sure it goes well.

She booted up the computer and made sure she remembered her family’s Sora login correctly. She successfully got into the streaming service, and looked in her watch list for Caught in Rola. Huh, it didn’t show up. Sora does glitch a lot... She decided to put the site’s search function into use, and Noelle put the name of the series in, and still no results showed.

Noelle’s heart was pretty crushed. Her date with Susie was probably ruined, and she hadn’t even finished the last season of the show. Ugh, she couldn’t believe that they would just take it down with no warning. She fell into bed and put on the white noise she liked to sleep to, and turned off her lamp. She still couldn’t stop thinking about the situation she was in. What was she going to say to Susie? Would she think it was Noelle’s fault? Maybe the blame did fall on Noelle. After all, it was her who told Susie that she would definitely be able to do it.

The doorbell rang. It was 11:17, and Noelle was still anxious. Maybe she just shouldn’t open the door. Maybe then she can forget about this and it will somehow be fixed… the doorbell rapidly rang a few more times, and Noelle walked to the door to unlock and open it.

“Hi, Noelle, I almost thought you weren’t gonna get the door, haha. Sorry for being late. I like, forgot for a second that 10:57 was right before 11, so when I checked the clock then, I wasn’t prepared at all to leave, but hopefully it’s okay?” Susie was a bit embarrassed, and it showed on her face.

“It’s totally okay! Um, Susie? Do you think you would be okay if we uh, did something else other than watching the show…?” Noelle asked, avoiding eye contact with her date.

“Wha? I’m not mad or something, but why?”

“Well I checked and… Sora doesn’t have Caught in Rola on it any more. Sorry to let you down.”

“Oh, well. that’s not good. Uh I do think I know… something else we can do. Can I use your computer for a moment?”

Noelle was unsure what Susie was thinking of. “Alright, sure, as long as it’s within reason. And you can come inside now! Sorry for making you wait outside for so long.”

The two headed inside the roomy house, and made their way into Noelle’s room. Noelle had temporarily taken down the most embarrassing posters she had, but a few were still up. Noelle sat on her bed next to Susie, set the laptop between them and logged into her account to direct Susie onto the browser.

“Okay uhh, do you have an adblocker?” Susie asked Noelle, looking up from the monitor.

“No? Probably not I think, what’s that for?”

“No? Uh, okay. It like, removes annoying ads and popups from websites while you’re on them.” Susie tried explaining. “I’ll just get one for you if you want. It’s free to have.”

Noelle just gave a simple “Okay,” and Susie continued her work on the device.

“Okay so, I know a website that we can probably watch it on, so I’m gonna pull that up now.” She put in a weird sounding url and hit enter. A bunch of ads and spam showed up for a split second, but were quickly done away with thanks to what Susie had gotten for Noelle. “Here it is! It seems sketchy but it’s completely alright to do and doesn’t make you a bad person on its own.” Susie proclaimed.

“Wow, you’re sure that this is okay? It’s pretty cool!” Noelle was pretty excited to see the show, she would even be able to finish it on her own if she couldn’t with Susie.

“Well, yeah, as long as you didn’t invite any cops, haha ha…” the room went a bit cold.

“This- Are you saying that this is a crime!?” Noelle nearly shouted. Was she dating a criminal? Was her mom actually right about Susie being a delinquent bad influence?

“Hey, hey, I said it was moral, not legal.” Susie tried to reassure.

“Wh-what if we get caught? Undyne’s really scary, and-and people might think it’s my your fault O-or-“

“Hey, Noelle.” Susie said pretty calmly. “We’re not hurting anyone. We’re just a couple of teens who wanna watch a cartoon. And, you’re mom’s paying for that other service anyway, so the creators of the show already got stuff for what they made. It’s basically already been completely paid for, if that uh, makes sense.”

Noelle was actually almost crying, but she thought that Susie was probably right. She tended to draw her own moral line at things that the people around her would approve of, but, well, now that she thought about it, there was probably more that they wouldn’t approve of or understand, like the dark world, or how Kris can time travel, apparently.

“Wow, that’s uh… a lot.” Susie was staring at Noelle.

“Did uh.. I… I didn’t mean to say that out loud.”

“Hey, it’s okay! Let’s… let’s go watch our illegal cartoons now.”

“Okay!” The two girls pulled up the show, and watched the show until into the night.
