Hello and Welcome! While complaining about “Summerween” the other day, I realized it’s a perfect time to start planning an actual Halloween event. So here it is: a low-key, 4-day Halloween themed event for Lokius!

I know it’s early to even think about Halloween, but I also wanted to give people plenty of time to plan/prep/participate. While this event is intended to be low-key, I do have a few ground rules:

Lokius is the focus! Side pairings/polyships are okay but Lokius must be the focus.

Related to that, no ship hate. I do not care. None.

WIP Wednesday

Kinda been AWOL lately because of RL matters, so have a chunk of a half-finished fic from the Storyteller 'verse that's likely never going to see the light of day. So many WIPs, so little time...

Story premise is basically "You are why this rule in the guidebook exists" and this specific chapter, If pruning sends the pruned matter to the Void, what happens to something that gets pruned while already in the Void? Does it just respawn on the spot like a Jumanji character or a Pokemon?

Anyway.

“In my defense –“  “Defense? You don’t get a defense!”   It’s a shout, and it echoes off the nearly-empty corridor walls, still in the process of having the second layer of sheetrock hung. Halfway down the hall a curious foreman, hard-hatted and safety-goggled, pokes his head out of a doorframe to investigate, no doubt because hearing this particular voice sound anything harsher than mildly stern is a novelty to tell the workforce about.   He then shows remarkable wisdom in promptly retreating from the line of fire, wide-eyed. The staccato punch of a screw gun at work in hasty resumption begins a moment later.  “I was never in any real danger,” Loki remonstrates in what is a more than reasonable tone, in his (obviously correct) opinion. “Ouroboros would never have okayed the project if we were not both satisfied on that point.”  It’s the wrong thing to say, and he realizes it just a fraction of a second too late.   “So you deliberately didn’t tell me,” Mobius says, and the tone is frigid. “Any of it. You’ve been experimenting with a banned weapon on my TVA premises, and didn’t think I needed to know about it.”  Loki gestures vaguely back the way they have just come. “Given your reaction, can you blame me?” he asks. “It was nothing more than a thought experiment at this stage. I wished to have some kind of quantifiable data before presenting it to you for actual consideration.”  “And you thought that quantifiable data would be best achieved by testing it on yourself?”  “I certainly was not going to permit one of your agents to do it,” Loki retorts, with a bit of heat. “Or would you prefer I employ the Old Ways? Pop into one of the branches and simply abduct a variant at my leisure for the job? Drop a reset charge and leave no trace of the temporal genocide, simply because I can?”  “God. No, of course not.” Mobius drags an unsteady hand over his face. “We’ll come back to the not telling me thing in a minute, but before we do. Please tell me you at least tested it on stuff first. Non-living stuff.”  Loki’s lips twitch suspiciously, though his serious expression remains. “At great length, yes,” he replies. “There is a tidy pile of…stuff, in Research and Advancements. Which you would have been shown post-haste, had you not expressed your displeasure at the latest experiment so…vociferously.”  “I walked into R&A just in time to see O.B. shove a lit pruning stick into your chest. You’ll forgive me if I freaked out a little.”  “A little?”

Adding to this because it literally just came back to bite me at work today. I'm an executive that reports to the CEO, I was an English major, I was a professional copywriter for over a decade. I've never used an AI to write for me in my entire life, I do not NEED to.

And one of our clients put a marketing article I wrote through an "ai detector" and guess what, it came back as 93% written by AI when that was precisely 0% true.

But apparently if you have a brain and know how to correctly use a semi-colon, that's hallmark of a bot now. I should not have to explain this to a board room.

Please don't bring that shit into our private lives as well as professional. It's the only refuge for writing some of us have left. JFC.

If ANY of yall EVER do this shit to me, im deleting every single fic out of spite.

If I ever catch one of yall doing this to another author and I know youre a follower of my work I will block you personally on every platform

None of yall are the fic police. I DESPISE genai. I think its an insult to art, humanity, and the planet itself. But aint not a single fucking person here qualified to pick apart a strangers fic looking for a gotcha moment to make yourselves feel superior. If you think something is ai you can ask the author (most are proud of the ai use and will just tell you straight up) if they say yes you have your answer and can warn people. If they say no and you dont believe them you block and quietly keep it between you and maybe a close group of friends. Spreading misinformation is DANGEROUS. And NONE of you doing this shit are anywhere near qualified to do it.
