Onto my question: In past streams Neil mentioned that he based some of Astarions mocap performance on a feral cat that lives near his home. Also at Last Light Inn Astarion seems to like the cat "His Majesty" a lot.

What animal would you associate with DuDrow? And how would he perceive being compared to said animal/react to the animal itself?

I personally vote for swan - those things are a MENACE. I think both swans and DuDrow terrify me on a similar level.

I usually associate DU drow with cats as well, but a swan is very apt and I'm kind of surprised I hadn't made the connection myself yet (for those unaware, swans are aggressively territorial, shockingly big and a bit scary when you get close LOL also, they mate for life!)

He probably really likes swans for the reasons listed above and would be flattered at the comparison. As a low-key admirer of naytchurr I think he would be able to flip most animal-related comparisons into a compliment - unless you were to compare him to like, a yappy lap-dog, I guess.

BUT he'd be specially pleased with the swan likening! Catch Astarion starting to call him his little cygnet from that point forward.

I’ve had this in my mind for a while so now I give you

Outlander Pirate AU (feat. Makuu)

-This is definitely one of the Zootopia-esque au’s because who doesn’t love animal pirates?

-The hyenas and vultures are part of one big crew, with Janja as the Captain and Mzingo as his first mate

-Jasiri and Reirei both defied gender roles by being Captains of their crew. Reirei met Goigoi while captured on another ship and she rose to the top. She married Goigoi and her crew grew from there

-Jasiri is actually a privateer who works under newly crowned King Kion. She eventually convinces Janja’s crew to merge with hers and is known as “The Pirate Queen” by everyone else.

Janja agreed cuz he maaay or may not have a repressed crush on Jasiri but he’ll obviously take that to his watery grave

-Captain Kiburi formed a new pirate crew after he started a mutiny against his former captain, Makuu. Makuu, however, had seen it coming and was able to fend off Kiburi and his followers. His crew isn’t as big as the other pirate captains, but holy shit can they fight. They’ve killed more animals than the rest combined

-Kenge was found as a stowaway on Kiburi’s ship, with him against the world and turning to piracy for survival. The crocs wanted to kill him on sight, but Kenge had something they didn’t: venom. So when Tamka tried to attack after calling him “little”, he ferociously bit him and held him at knifepoint. It was then when Kiburi had a better idea: Why not put that anger and those fighting skills to good use? He’s now one of the crocs, being Kiburi’s new friend and best fighter. Everyone thinks they should be scared of the crocodiles when it’s really him you gotta worry about. Kiburi likes to use him as a threat. Either give them all the loot or they’ll sick Kenge on you

-Sumu is an interesting story. Kiburi’s crew found him while exploring a desert island. It’s unknown how he got there in the first place (he doesn’t like to talk about it), but he ultimately joins the crew as a cabin boy among Kenge’s suggestion. Kiburi thought nothing of it until he saw Sumu in action. Turns out he can fatally stab people so that’s fun.

-Ushari was once a great pirate, but after too many near death experiences, he decided to become a grumpy innkeeper with Shupavu and Njano as his employees. They usually act as bartenders who serve drinks to the guests.

-After Makuu started a mutiny against him, Pua stepped down from captain of his crew and resides at the inn, telling all kinds of stories to anyone who would listen

-Hodari is a cabin boy in Makuu’s float. It was always his dream to be a pirate and he was able to prove himself when he helped Makuu steal from Kiburi (after Kiburi stole from him first lol)

-All the captains act like mortal enemies at sea, but put them next to each other in a tavern or Ushari’s inn and they’re acting like they’ve been friends for years

-Out of all the crews, Kiburi’s curses the most. They’ve even done it in the inn when they visited for the night. Ushari had to threaten to bite them on the spot if they didn’t stop driving his customers away. The skinks didn’t do much to help, as Shupavu was too busy laughing and Njano was encouraging them

-Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed are also retired pirates, giving their ship to Janja’s crew once they put the life behind them. They own a tavern, which is another popular hangout spot for pirates

-Njano once snuck onto Kiburi’s ship on his day off. It was a disaster

General-

PlaneDragons are a blend of biological and mechanical features, and are classified into a separate kingdom than other life- Biomechanical. They are sapient creatures, and different groups of them have differing languages, dialects, beliefs, and technology. While being fully functional dragons, they also have the ability to choose a pilot, and with a proper bond and understanding, the pilot can fly the dragon. They reproduce the same way as most lizards, and lay 1-5 eggs, most commonly 4. The main categories are fighters, airliners, sea/floats, stealth/bombers, stunt/racers, bush/small dragons, and hybrids. Most have vertical and horizontal stabilizers on their tails, and flaps and ailerons on their wings. Their natural colouration reflects their environment, and during their mating seasons both sexes develop patches of vibrant colours- this is a leftover from before they developed true sapience when they selected a one-time mate rather than a long-term partner. No PlaneDragon has eyes, although they do somehow see anyway, idk how they do that. They can also navigate via radar, and can feel subtle changes in air pressure, temperature, humidity, and vibrations. They also have a highly developed sense of smell.

Fighter Dragons:

Typically the most aggressive PlaneDragons, Fighters resemble fighter jets, often having heightened senses, advanced natural weaponry, and afterburners. They have two rows of sharp teeth and a spiked tongue, as well as long sharp claws. They have much shorter tails than other dragons. They are exclusively carnivores and tend to enjoy catching birds and large prey- they will hunt for sport, chasing prey much larger than them. They are the hardest for a pilot to bond with due to their aggressive nature, and require having something to tear apart and destroy to avoid boredom, although they unfortunately prefer large animals for this.

Airliner Dragons:

Almost always gentle giants, these are dragons that resemble and function similarly to large airline planes. They are easy to get along with, and are the easiest to bond with, as well as the most likely to either accept a new pilot if something happens to theirs, or to have multiple pilots at a time. They not only have the head-cockpit that other dragons have but also a cabin within their fuselage-body, which includes windows. Their wings are typically attached at the ventral side of their bodies, and they usually have 2-4 jet engines, as well as a long thick tail with the typical stabilizers. Their teeth are shorter and rounder, and they tend to be omnivores.

Sea/Float Dragons:

Similar in size to Fighter dragons, these dragons are much more buoyant than the others, easily able to float on the water like a duck. Their wings attach at the dorsal side of their body, and as a species often have propellers- either one on their nose or one for each wing. Their teeth are long and stick out to the sides, allowing them to grab fish near the surface, similar to a pelican. They tend to be fairly gentle, though not as much as an airliner.

Stealth/Bomber Dragons:

Similar in speed to fighter dragons, these have distinct body shapes and a unique that make them harder to detect, and are almost always black. These dragons tend to be the most careful and strategic, but are incredibly difficult to bond with. Instead of teeth they have a sharp and serrated beak, though their secretive nature means that their diet is still unknown- even those with pilots will disappear for long stretches of time until they are needed again.

Bush Dragons/Other Small Dragons:

This is the broadest category, and contains dragons resembling small planes not included in the other categories. These range in size from little ones that only have a cockpit-head interior to some larger ones with a proper fuselage-body that can carry a few passengers. They can have either a single nose propeller or 1-2 for each wing. Their wings will be either at the top or bottom of their body depending on what plane they mimic. This category also includes biplane dragons, which have four wings- one set at the top and one at the bottom of their body. These dragons have more variable personalities, and while technically being omnivores, almost exclusively eat various plants and nectars. Most are friendly and playful, though some can be aggressive like fighters or gentle like airliners.

For those who wonder why so much "she", it's because it's not a song solely by Jae, but with his involvement. Also, in English it is harder to be vague. "Baby" can't be used multiple times and in all grammatical constructions. Plus, I doubt Jaehyun cares. He agreed to building up his straght image in the past (circa 2019). For some not singing about the sex you are not attracted to is important, for some it isn't.

Lots of high notes, low whispers and changes in ways of singing, heh. Jaehyun really likes to play with his voice and modulations.

Lions don't hunt meerkats, but that was the symbolism in that sequence. Prey on alert and a hunter in hiding/clocking the target. This insertion of African animals is still very sus to me. Especially alongside locally appropriate roosters and bald eagles. And antelopes are more commonly used for "prey on alert". Hard to imagine the MV director coming up with it on their own. There are enough counterparts in North America to choose from (cougars, jaguars, lynxes vs ground squirrels, burrowing owls, juckrabbits, deer, mountain sheep).

Everyone pointed out Lemonade and Lemonade mate connection. Yes, another sus moment. The thing about such "references" is that they are perfectly vague. It can be both an intentional reference and just a thematic coinsidence (America and lemonade stalls, lemonade as a refreshing drink=thirst quenching love).

With the involvement of so many roses, and same songwriters, the song seems to be tied to "Roses". A prequel?

Prada ad was subtle, just one phrase. BP do it more blatantly with Celine and Dior. Heh, shippers also remembered the Prada bag Do and his mom got when Jae became a BA. But I think it is more to do with Jae participating in Prada Music festival and the brand making a video for Jae's album. An exchange of favours.

The MV is simple but fun. A bit too shaky for me, enough of nice shots though. For such MVs its important for the lead to be able to act. Shot in one day, probably. Maybe one and a half, with a trip to the desert.

Thematically Jaehyun didn't deviate from his usual topic: life long love, the one, I'll be there by my love interest's side.

Well, what a busy summer it's already been! Know I've been active here and there, but tbh, life has been crazy - both in good and in bad ways.

I'm currently working on a fic (mentioned here) that involves the Squarepants family. 🧽👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 What started out as a plot bunny has evolved into something much bigger, which (unfortunately) means it's been taking me a bit more time than expected.

Additionally, with all the lore and headcanons I'm including, this fic is becoming slightly longer than I originally thought. It was going to be ~6 chapters but I'm thinking it might go up to 7-8.

Hoping to share some teasers by the end of this month, but we shall see.

I've definitely said somewhere that I don't usually write/read full-blown AUs (i.e., not canon divergence), but I'm about to do something I never thought I'd do and try my hand at writing an AU fic. 🙌

As with many AUs in SBSP, it will involve humanization. However, it will also involve non-anthro critters that maintain cartoonish attributes (ex. Finding Nemo, Lion King [animated], etc).

Setting is probably ~1800's in a seaside kindgom/village. It won't be super accurate but I'm here to entertain, not educate - unless the opportunity presents itself in a fun way. 🤯

It isn't going to be the timeliest either lol, but it was somewhat inspired by this. 👀🧜‍♀️

I haven't even started drafting this, so no ETA yet.

I haven't posted much original content for Sims, but I'm a total Simmer and I'd love to do more Sims storytelling at some point. Fun fact: my username was actually inspired by the Tragic Clown from the games. 🤡

Tay, I don't think anyone could be more perfect for you than Zoro. And vice versa. Literally a match made in heaven.

First and foremost, you now have a workout partner for life. He might be lifting boulders on his shoulders (literally) but he's going to be right next to you cheering you on with every new weight you stack (and possibly losing his balance when you do leg day and start doing squats and lunges). And the man has a heart of gold inside his grumpy exterior– animals are a weak point for him, just look at his relationship with Chopper. He adores caring for those weaker than him, and he would be more than happy to help and encourage you with saving every animal that needs your tender love and care.

Zoro, too, tends to be the strongest person in the room. Mentally and physically. He would adore that you have those same qualities. As much as Zoro cares for helping others, it would thrill him to no end to have an equal. Without a doubt he would view you as his partner, his mate, his ride or die that he can count on.

You're both selfless, which makes you a little crazy for each other. You're always going above and beyond for the other– you'd lay down your life for each other, the fact of which makes Zero's heart soar.

And it's a good thing you're a giver and enjoy quality time as your love language, because Zoro sometime struggles with explaining how much he loves you. Quality time is where it's at for him. fuck or die/sex pollen: are technically different things but i will put them together and give them an A because they're the one trope that i actually Have In The Past combed ao3 for. lol. i don't know! i don't know. usually characters losing the control over their autonomy, bodies and so on kinda bug me, and while in a certain state i can accept a/b/o, when i try to think about the Social Circumstances of everyone being aware you're in horny town/about to enter horny town/submissive and breedable/etc for more than five seconds i go insane, but. there's SOMETHING about fuck or die and sex pollen that just *clenches fist* gets me.

i haven't read many fics where the characters forced to fuck are total not even a little sexually attracted to each other*; mostly it's been ships i was interested in, and while obviously for the characters involved it's probably hell, there's often this moment of... idk, assurance that neither part is using the other? the mind-blowing sex we're about to have is 100% medicinal/situational, i am doing this 100% respectfully...!

like, say, one of them is a mermaid (gender neutral). i just got reminded of a rinharu mermaid fic that i was crazy about back in the times. anyway! there's... the list of things that happen in a mermaid au is pretty predictable, i think? dude finds a mermaid, they either meet on the beach or the mermaid is injured and needs help --> into the bathtub you go; the mermaid learns about human stuff and the human learns about mermaid stuff, insert conflict either down there or up there, sex? and then A SOLUTION, which often is "the mermaid stays on land due to Love". it can be done well! and it can be done not well. it really depends!

paradoxically, i don't really like it when the creature character is too much like an animal and too little like a human. does this make sense? for example, when they eat their human's pet, don't know much about Emotions, talk about Nesting and Mating rather than, idk, finding someone to fuck... that's. that's kind of like an animal that can talk, i feel? not exactly my cup of tea, so to speak. i'd much prefer if there was some other Culture under the sea, with existing traditions and such, but a culture nonetheless. something like "i caught you this big huge fish in broad daylight because i want you to be my mate forever!" vs "oh yeah, well, when we like someone we bring them stuff, mostly good food but cool stuff from the surface is a hit too. you do that too...? ah, figures. shit listen can i bring you a hugeass fish because i don't really have cash money"

Wanda and R's kids find out what their parents are really like, stick with me here...

Say Wanda and R make it, they have their domestic life, while they still have their batshit crazy moments - Wanda with the "why did you help that woman in the store?! Are you sleeping with her?!" And R with the - "I gotta go kill someone before I kill you..."

Let's say the kids are late teens and they've slowly realised how not-normal their parents are (always hearing heated arguments then the next day Wanda and R are all lovey dovey at breakfast) they eventually find out that both Wanda and R are crazy but they're kinda glad because they have a tendency to be violent too...

Would they tell Wanda and R? How would they react?? Would Wanda and R be proud because they have protégés that can carry on their legacy???

The tendency is for R and Wanda's relationship to become something of that nature, which is kinda… sad, to be honest. R would be so busy trying not to follow (and failing) in her parents' footsteps that she wouldn't even realize they were actually becoming Wanda's parents in a way. Wanda grew up in an environment with parents who were totally problematic towards each other, and that was really never what she wanted for her own children.

Of course, she and R have a lot more pleasant times than her parents ever had and they usually show love to each other somehow, but they are troubled people who always end up hurting each other in some way. In fact, it is not the ideal environment to raise children, and the twins will certainly be affected by it.

But I imagine that if any of them were going to develop this compulsive need for violence like R's, it would be Billy (excluded at school, being bullied, just harboring all the hatred towards the world… and listening to his parents yelling at each other late at night). And it would be Wanda and Pietro's story all over again, but this time with Billy and Tommy. The difference is that Wanda would never walk into her parents cleaning the blood off the kitchen floor after one of them killed a neighbor in an impulsive act lol

R would actually accept Billy, and so they would finally have the close relationship that Billy wanted his whole life to have with his parent but never had. Maybe he just agreed to do these things with R to please R herself, to gain her approval he never had before. And R would just be being the parent she never had… in a pretty sick way.

Tommy, on the other hand, would grow even more disturbed by the realization that this little secret in his family is nothing but a hideous thing, and that it's not animals that R takes Billy hunting every month.

And Wanda, who had always been just a little closer to Tommy, would take his side. Random Dragon Ball headcanons - Part 1 (out of many, I'm sure)

You knew this was coming at one point or another.

It was destined to happen with how much I love the franchise and how I've been talking about it lately on here.

You thought my Fairy Tail headcanons were a lot? Think again. It's nothing compared to what my mind has conjured for the DB franchise in the decades I've been a fan, lol.

Well, let's get ready!

Cha-la Head Cha-la starts playing

- Saiyans have three sexes (they don't care about genders): male, female and intersex. The intersexed Saiyans can present either as male or female. Saiyans do not care about the sex of their members, but they do tend to honour and respect the females and intersexed Saiyans, since they're the ones who are able to bring new life to their proud race (and since giving birth is like a battle, and it's bloody and all, it shows that they are super tough).

- Female and intersex Saiyans make something like 35% of the population, which isn't enough to sustain it (it's a fact that any animal population usually has more females than males, makes it easier for it to stay steady and not disappear). So no females are used as infiltration babies when it becomes a thing.

- Saiyans aren't really monogamous. As in, in modern times (aka since they've been enslaved by the Cold empire), they rarely have exclusive relationships that are serious enough that they link themselves to another Saiyan for life - or more (OMG I have a whole thing about Saiyan mating habits that needs to be told at one point if I don't forget to do it).

- Goku is, actually, a member of the third sex. But he doesn't know it, since he thinks he's a normal male human until Raditz, and later does not question his biologic difference from humans outside of the Zenkai, need for battle, huge appetite, enhanced senses and instincts, lower fertility rate (another biological thing I need to touch on later), and all that surrounds the tail. Since he had the Talk with Bulma (super quickly and awkwardly), he always thought all males had both bits, but females only had the one bit downstairs. He never questions it since he never saw another male's full genitalia.

- The Saiyans, in their time under the Cold empire/PTO, used their language as ways to send crypted messages to one another. Since Cold and Frieza were both super arrogant and looked down upon the Saiyans, they never asked anyone to translate the messages in galactic common. It's how Vegeta, Raditz and Nappa got away with being utterly disrespectul at times towards Frieza and plotted their revenge.

- Raditz is a worrywart. He also uses his head more than his pride can get in his way, which is one reason why he's kind of not seen in a kindly manner by Vegeta and Nappa. It's not very Saiyan-y, but it helped him survive until his unfortunate encounter on Earth.

- Piccolo knows the Namekian language, but a more ancient form, since it kind of evolved since Kami (the nameless Namekian, son of Katas) was sent to Earth when the cataclysm hit Namek. The slight difference in evolution does not impede him from understanding his fellow modern Namekians, though.

- Namekians have a huge capacity in telepathy. It's natural for them. But they mostly use the telepathy to communicate with people they are close to (hi Piccolo, Dende and Gohan, the cute dynamic trio).

- Saiyans also are capable of telepathy, more than most races, but they rarely use it. It was more in use before the civil war and destruction of Sadara.

- Saiyans aren't intrinsically bad. It's a consequence of their time on then-Plant, the war with the Tsufuls (need to touch on that later) and their slavery under the Colds. Before all that nonesense, they were an ok race, full of good and a bit of bad too (because no race is perfect).

- Gohan suffers from PTSD and that's canon.

- All the DBZ crew suffers from undealt-with trauma. Noone can change my mind.

- Goku is kind of demi-sexual and pan (if that's a thing, tell me if it's not, because I'm still learning). He loves all genders whatever their race, appearance, whatever, but he only loves Chichi? If that makes sense? (Though I have AU ideas where this is not the case huhuhu).

- Broly is not DUMB. I repeat, DBS Broly is NOT DUMB. He's just uneducated because of his upbringing. But he learns very fast. Because Saiyans are quite smart overall (smarter than most races we encounter in DBZ) and the big guy has a high potential. Although said potential is kind of hindered by his temper and instincts. He's working on them though.

- Also, all Brolys are LEGENDARY super saiyans. I don't care what DBS says.

- Vegeta is a genius when it comes to strategy. He's also very very smart. He helps Bulma come up with new inventions and helps her brainstorm when she's stuck.

- The Saiyans have 3 legends when it comes to super Saiyans (also the name is a dumbed-down translation of the original Saiyago title): they have the golden-haired avenger that is full of righteous anger, the green-haired berserker born once a thousand years that destroys everything, even themselves, and the red-haired saiyan that can go toe to toe with the gods themselves and are exalted as lesser deities.

- Magic and ki are very different. Some races are more geared towards magic, and others towards ki control. Saiyans are more geared towards ki control, which comes as no surprise because magic is looked down upon in their society (when it comes to combat, because it has its uses for the working and religious classes, but it's barely used at the end of their existence as a race). Namekians are usually more in tune with magic than ki control, but the warrior class is the exception (Nail and Piccolo are both warrior class). The dragon clan (those who are able to produce dragon balls) are particularly gifted with magic and healing powers (Dende, Mori and Guru - Kami is from the dragon clan, but he was also originally from the warrior class, so don't know if he counts, lol).

- Namekians reproduce asexually, but they are hermaphrodites (it's canon, though, so is it really a headcanon?).

- Earthlings are particularly gifted at ki control. More so than Saiyans because their instincts don't impede their learning curve, although Saiyans are more gifted to natural ki control (as in, they learn super quick when they see something, but minute mastery isn't as easy since they're quite quick tempered and prideful).

- Bulma has the means to become queen of the universe. She has the power to destroy Frieza, no questions asked and have even the most powerful warriors at her feet thanks to her genius. The only reason she hasn't done that is because, even though she's arrogant and vain and quick-tempered, she also is KIND and does not think of such things. Vegeta knows it and it excites the heck out of him (and kind of terrifies him a little bit, lol). I will take no criticism on this headcanon, thank you very much.

- Super Saiyan 4 is the primal version of Super Saiyan. It's not in the legends anymore because it kind of fell from use because it's so hard to harness, thousands of years even before Sadala was destroyed. Usually, SS4 Saiyans have golden eyes and black (true black, bluish or even purplish) to brownish-red hair (this one is rarer). Vegeta is kind of an outlier with his blue eyes in that form.

Ok, I'll stop here for now. I have way too many headcanons and I'll need some time to go through most of them, lol.

Emmet was conflicted, he knew that much as he looked at your sleeping form, his species of octopus usually shared territory, which he only shared with his brother, and oh how desperately Emmet wanted you to meet him, you and Ingo would get along so well! But the only issue was Emmet would have to share, he thinks back, sure he has had one time mates, he has a mating cycle after all, but it’s dangerous to mate with a female of his kind, they are much more aggressive and he doesn’t want him or his brother to get hurt or separated because of that.

But Emmet loves you, he adore you, he wants to spend every moment with you, you mean everything to him, you are perfect, there isn’t one thing he’d complain about, you’re everything he has ever wanted and needed in a mate, sure you both had to learn each other bodies before mating, his lower half being one of an octopus and you being a human, it was only natural, and your noises spooked him, he thought he hurt you, but when you corrected him and that it was pleasure, he grew addicted, those noises are so loud and lewd, he really liked when you beg and plead for him, or when you moan out and scream out his name, it’s like a claim and he can’t get enough!

Emmet could never go back, you’ve ruined him for anyone else, and he wants to spend the rest of his life with you, but this comes at a cost, and that being his brother, while Emmet has never had an issues sharing with Ingo he might this time, Emmet wants you all to himself if can help it, but he knows that can’t happen, you’re going to meet his brother sooner or later, but the real question is, will Emmet let Ingo get close to you? He knows he should share, you’re the perfect life long mate! And you never hurt or attack before, during, or after anything! You’re so sweet and almost domesticate for him, if Emmet wants to keep Ingo around he’d have to, Ingo would run the risk of getting hurt, though Ingo never really acts on his heat cycles, Emmet noticed that long ago that Ingo never really liked mating never having a true drive for it.

So maybe you three could make this work! Emmet and you, plus Ingo who would just be along for the ride, besides his brother is already suspicious of him, it’s been a year and some months since Emmet has been seeing you, and Ingo noticed something off almost instantly, with Emmet being gone well into the night or gone for days at a time, Emmet looks back to you after thinking it over, yeah, he will let you meet Ingo, it’s not like you don’t know about his twin either, and hopefully his brother stays in his lane, he will explain everything to him later, but for now he is just content with his mate.

*There are (at least) two demonic languages: one is a bit like Latin albeit way more fucked up. The second one is spoken only. A human can learn to understand both but the second one requires a lot of concentration to discern due to the subtlety in the growls, clicks and other noises demons are capable of making. It’s also very dependent on body language, especially in demonic form.

*It would be nearly impossible for a human to be fluent in the second one because of that. (unless you’re like. A really good mimic?)

* the second one is the oldest language. The new language and it’s written counterpart are derived from it with a little twist, so you’ll still hear some interesting noises thrown in there. It would take some dedication to learn, though the written part is fairly easy once you get the hang of it. It was made to be read quickly and efficiently. The speaking part however...................good luck.

* Demons and angels can instantly pick up human languages including reading and writing. Wouldn’t do you much good to be summoned in like. Germany and not know the language LOL

* Demons purr LOL you can’t click and growl and NOT purr. Like cats, it is both a happy thing and a self soothing thing.

* There is a slight difference between a happy purr and a self soothing purr, but the difference depends entirely on the demon.

* Demons (and angels) are nearly impossible to kill. It’s also very hard to damage them in any meaningful way. They also heal very quickly, so even if you did get a good hit on one, if they managed to get away chances are they’d heal in a matter of hours.

* Stronger demons like the brothers are even MORE impervious to damage. The amount of times Beel’s reached into the oven barehanded just to pop a piping hot cookie in his mouth is insane. He swears it’s the best way to eat them.

* Angels are very stiff but very physically powerful. They have a lot of control over their bodies and are trained from a young age to be able to wield that power responsibly.

* Demons on the other hand are incredibly flexible and bounce back easily. Though your average demon might not be the same physical strength as an angel, they have agility on their side. Angels are heavy hitters where demons rely on their ability to strike multiple times very quickly.

* This was a very weird transition for the brothers, though the amount of strength they had barely changed between realms. Fallen angels don’t change that much strength wise, but a little bit is burned up in the fall (to protect themselves.)

* Angels may be strong but demons also posses a massive amount of strength and have to learn to control it over time. This is known as a “juvenile phase” but it happens at different ages depending on how they were born. Fallen angels do not go through this as they have already learned to keep a grip on their power. Do I have an entire separate post ready about this bc I just couldn’t shut up? Maybe...

* There are four ways of being “born” a demon. Fallen angels, half demons, human borns and natural demons.

* Humans can choose to be turned into demons, but it is a very painful process and they won’t be able to gain any strength, what they get is what the get. They are referred to as “human born” and were considered the lowest of the humanoid demons until Diavolo came into power.

* Human born used to just be made whenever by whoever but that caused problems. Demons would make human borns and then just leave them to flounder about by themselves in an unknown territory. Diavolo’s father put an end to that during his reign, but “accidents” still happen. Now you have to do paperwork if you want to turn your human friend/lover into a demon lol.

* The ceremony for turning humans into demons is incredibly complex, which is why banning making human born unless given permission is less of a problem than you’d think.

* Half demons are just that, they’re only half demon. Most are half human but there are a few other kinds of magical creatures mixed in there. They aren’t as strong as a natural demon nor a fallen angel but they can gain power through their other ancestry. Many of them specialize in unique kinds of magic.

* Half human/demon children aren’t as rare as you’d think they are. This is due to the fact that demons have all sorts of ways to keep a demonic baby alive. Ranging from shapeshifting and (magically) taking the baby themselves once it’s grown enough to handle the transition to various forms of potions and spells to help a human along.

* Half demons and natural demons have the luxury of being born already (mostly) acclimated to the devildom, making some of the transitions that come with a demons lifespan easier on them than human born and fallen angels.

* Angels are taught to control/ignore their instincts where demons are taught to rely on/embrace theirs. Because demonic instincts often work against the things taught in the celestial realm fallen angels have a hard time adjusting to their new environment. Though, as their sins overtake them, their instincts become easier to fall back on.

* Demons have multiple forms, not just the two shown in game. All in all, the brothers have 5, each becoming less and less humanoid.

* Half/human born demons are more likely to have both a tail and wings in their first demonic form. Stronger demons like the brothers are merely showing off the strongest of the two, but everyone has both. (Bc I think they slap LOL *points* u get a tail and wings! *u get a tail and wings*)

* •a demons features can be influenced by what sin they are, but it’s not a hard or fast rule. Don’t be surprised if a demon who looks more akin to Mammon is actually a Sloth demon.***this does not apply to little Ds who’s look is entirely dependent on their sin. Little Ds are an entirely separate conversation 😈

* human borns/half demons can have two sins assigned to them, though this makes them less powerful in both. Usually there is a more prominent sin.

* Diavolo’s rule has helped quite a bit with bringing humans into a new better light, and many natural born demons who haven’t been able to interact with the human realm have become increasingly curious about humans and the way they work. Much of this is due to media that was brought from the human world to sedate Dia’s intense curiosity.

* In the eyes of many older demons, humans are merely playthings and it is expected that most demons will eventually mate with at least one other demon. A human and a demon dating is seen as just infatuation on the demons part, and it’s often thought that there are no real feelings behind a relationship like that. However there have been/are many successful and happy human/demon relationships.

* Demons don’t really have a concept of marriage. They live so long there really isn’t a point to tying yourself to one single person (or a few people) However, that’s not to say that there aren’t relationships like that. There are binding ceremonies for expressing love and devotion to other beings and it has its own unique culture.

* though the gates to the human realm are still technically closed and have been for a long time, demons can still be summoned by witches (sorcerers, wizards, warlocks, whatever you call yourself.) They can also be successfully summoned if you are not a magic user, however this is rare and often can go wrong, much like horror movies.

* Summoning very powerful demons like the brothers is incredibly hard even for an extremely experienced magic user, so often the demon you get claiming to be Satan really isn’t LOL. There are demons who are actually assigned to go to summonings in the place of the seven lords of hell, but many demons will just take on the role to fuck around with whomever summoned them. You think a prince of hell has time to just go possess some object or person for fun? (Ok...Mammon Satan and Belphie might.......if they’re bored enough LOL)

* Demons are actually relatively cuddly creatures. They might be a little rough with strangers but base instincts with family members will always be to coddle rather than fight. They’re more like humans in that right.

* Angels don’t do much casual touching, they’re very uptight. Beel and Belphie being as close as they are was a bit of an oddity in the celestial realm. That’s not to say angels don’t need causal touch lol just that they were trained to avoid that “temptation”.

* the brothers had a hard time starting out in the Devildom because of this. They still have a hard time with casual touches, which is why they seem so touched starved with the MC.

Things I might elaborate on later:

* There is a difference between demons, incubi and succubi but it’s not what you think it is.

* Demons, angels and humans all have very different takes on gender.

* The juvenile phase (DO not tempt me I wrote out like 1000 words about it bc I couldn’t shut the fuck up)

* Animals in the Devildom are fucked up. I WILL fucking talk about this bc it’s my passion.

Do I want kids? I mean, the answer is yes. I want a clutch of eggs and a mate to share them with, like a lot of other dragons. I feel like that’s not exactly “astounding” or “amazing.” It’s the drive to procreate, which I, like almost every other animal, experience.

It’s when I tell people I don’t want or plan to have human kids that people tend to lose the trail. “Oh, why not?” For the same reason I don’t want a parrot: they’re a life-long commitment that I don’t feel the desire to have. And if I don’t feel the desire to have kids, or a parrot, then I should make sure not to get any. Otherwise, they might not get the care they’d deserve, I’d be miserable dealing with a crying, or squawking, and it’d just kind of be all-around irresponsible and incompatible with my life style.

And commentary usually continues something like this… “But how can you not want kids, they’re so cute!” I mean…so are the parrots I mentioned. Just because something is cute isn’t a good reason to take it under your care, or for its wellbeing to otherwise become entirely reliant on you. I’m not saying kids are bad, or that kids shouldn’t exist, mind you—I, personally, just don’t want any! Kids are fine and dandy for people who want them, and I support those people whole-heartedly.

“But who will take care of you when you’re old? Aren’t you being selfish by not having kids, your parents expect it!” Look, I just want to say: I hate the idea that kids are “responsible” for their parents when they’re old. Is it nice, the idea of being comfortable and yadda yadda when I’m older? I mean, fuck yeah it is. But the idea of putting that on another person, especially in the United States where that’s a financial burden that could arguably verge onto a death sentence depending on somebody’s income level and health…that’s just not right. I don’t care how normalized it is, or expected it is, it’s just not right. I could never do that to my hatchlings, put that on them like that. Couldn’t do it.

There’s also such a weird thing when it comes to “parents” and blood family, as a system-mate. I hate to be the devil figure that everybody portrays dragons as, but I really feel no bond to the body’s human family…and I imagine a lot of dragon systemmates in human bodies, especially those of us who rarely front, feel pretty similar. I don’t feel like I owe these fundamental strangers jack nor shit on any front, especially on access to anything I consider a child. Hell, I wouldn’t let the body’s blood family within a hundred miles of any hatchlings I had, no matter how much they and society might whine otherwise. Both on the principle of the matter and the fact that they’re terrible people. Why does human society think it’s okay to pressure individuals into allowing the most sensitive members of their nest to be exposed to great danger? I don’t get it. It’s so fucking counterintuitive.

And then you get the weird, uncomfortable, social-media-specific examples of things people say when you mention not wanting kids, in comparison to the weird biblical shit people will say IRL. “So you just hate minors?”, “If you’re old enough to have kids, you’re too old to still be on the internet lol”, “Not wanting kids just shows you’re an immature adult…kinda sus ngl, you pro-ship or anti-ship?”, and so on. What? What?? What??? What does any of this have to do with the topic of choice?!

Like, in terms of “I’m a childfree dragon,” you’d really think people would get more hung up on the ‘dragon’ bit, but I don’t think many even read after the ‘childfree’ part with how they act.

If I were in my own proper body, I would be having kid/I would have a family. But what’s with the weird shaming? And why do people care so much if I decide that kids would be a bad idea for both myself and the hypothetical children?

the hobbit characters as birds

i was gonna do seabirds like in my post for the fellowship but i couldn’t think of enough seabirds so we have some regular birds in here too! also, apparently this is what i do now. i analyze and compare birds to fictional characters. and yes, i did write this in between finals today so i apologize if there are any errors, i just needed to cheer myself up.

Thorin is an eagle. it’s obvious. do i really need to explain? the majesticness, the skill... eagles are protective, fierce, they return to the same nests year after year, so they love their home. and they mate for life, which speaks to Thorin’s loyalty.

Bilbo is an american kestrel. they look pretty, and timid, but they can do serious damage if they want to. they usually return to the same nest every year, which fits with bilbo’s strong love of home. again- these are loyal birds, so lol out.

Fili is a golden eagle. because of the coloring, but also because of the way they’re seen. golden eagles tend to be seen as less cool than bald eagles, which i think fits with the whole fili/thorin/kili situation. but guys. golden eagles are cool. under appreciated, still majestic, and freaking awesome, fili is all those things.

Kili is a peregrine falcon. Smaller and more agile than the eagles, and also the fastest animal on the planet, which fits with the archer ✨aesthetic ✨. A very territorial bird, they hunt kinda like an archer or a sniper would, sighting from far away and then quickly diving down to get the prey, which i again feel works with the bow and arrow.

Thranduil is a crane. Like- the posing, the way they strut... it’s just obvious. they also can live a pretty long time (like 80 yrs in captivity i think) which is very elven. the species in this photo has the red patch on the head, which works both with thranduil’s crown and his general fashion sense.

Bard is a heron. kinda similar to a crane, still majestic, but different. They also hunt like archers, standing silently and patiently before swooping in/striking at their prey. They are determined animals, and very protective of their young, which works for him and his kids.

Nori is a crow. This is kinda obvious, due to the whole crafty and liking of shiny things. However, they are also fiercely loyal to their families, like he is to Dori and Ori. Crows also use tools which I think fits with Nori and his various trinkets, and the thing he uses to try and find where the keyhole to Erebor is.

music recommendations because i have some thoughts™

i don't wanna be that person who's like "my music taste is so weird lol" but i find that very often most of my friends don't really care for the music i like so i thought i'd just make a long ass post about it on tumblr instead. Fair warning, I'm very passionate about MIKA and The Mechanisms and so this very quickly got VERY long because it is part of my ongoing campaign to convince people to listen to mika and the mechs.

1) MIKA in general, but especially My Name Is Michael Holbrook (2019) and No Place In Heaven (2015) (especially the Deluxe version!!)

MIKA is a kind of British singer (half Lebanese, grew up in France blabla), and you probably know him for Grace Kelly and Relax, Take It Easy from his first album Life In Cartoon Motion from 2007. He writes a lot of FUN music, interspersed with the occasional slightly sadder song, especially when looking at an album like No Place In Heaven, which contains a lot of songs with gay themes, resulting in some songs that are just a little bit ouch. He's originally classically trained and has a frankly RIDICULOUS range and idk he just writes very good pop music. Also I have so much respect for that time he talked about how a lot of pop is very fake, with like expensive cars and stilettos and mini skirts in the snow and said "Because I walk down the street, and I don't see any of that. I see fat women and gay men. I don't know... That's real". He's written 5 albums; My Name Is Michael Holbrook (2019), No Place In Heaven (2015), The Origin Of Love (2012), The Boy Who Knew Too Much (2009), and Life In Cartoon Motion (2007).

For starters, I recommend listening to Last Party, Origin Of Love, Grace Kelly, Blame It On The Girls, Blue, Happy Ending, Pick Up Off The Floor, Last Party, Underwater, Tomorrow and Tiny Love (yes this is a long list but i REALLY love MIKA). If you want a slightly broader palette that's not just my favourites, I recommend the Mika starter pack on spotify.

2) The Mechanisms. I warn you. I am making this a thing. I have been obsessed with the mechs since last march.

Boy, where to start? The Mechanisms were a British 9 member space pirate story-telling cabaret that "died" in January 2020. They rewrite songs to fit retellings of various stories. I don't even know what genre I'd describe them as, but probably folk but steam-punk?? Their 4 "main" albums are concept albums, and I honestly just recommend listening to the from beginning to end in chronological order. A good way to get into the mechs is also to listen to UDAD and then watching the live show on youtube or alternately try giving Death To The Mechanisms a listen, to get good quality live show audio of TBI and various other stuff. Also, it was streamed on YouTube and someone combined the footage with the album audio and it rocks. Really, I think the mechs' best selling points are honestly just their concept albums:

Once Upon a Time (In Space) Their first album from 2012. I'd say this is the most "easily digestible" for the general public, since it's a retelling of various fairytales. So, what if Old King Cole was in fact not merry, but rather a cold-blooded dictator, intent on colonising as much of the galaxy as possible. What if Snow White was a general, looking to avenge what King Cole did to her sister, Rose. What if Cinderella was to be wedded to Rose the day that King Cole attacked in order to kidnap Rose? But y'know, In Space and also like every other mechs album it's a beautiful tragedy. Fave songs are Old King Cole, Pump Shanty, and No Happy Ending.

Ulysses Dies at Dawn You guessed it, it's a story about Odysseus, or Ulysses because I guess Ulysses is easier to rhyme or fit in the meter or something, idk. Ulysses is a war hero of unknown gender who is said to keep something that could take down the corrupt Olympians, meanest families in the City, in a vault to which only they know the passcode. Oedipus, Heracles, Orpheus, and Ariadne have been hired by Hades, who happens to be The Mechs' quartermaster Ashes O'Reilly, to get into Ulysses' vault. I didn't care much for udad at first, but honestly it's got some real bangers and the story is really good. UDAD weirdly stands out as the only of the concept albums to not feature any gay relationships, per se. Fave songs are Riddle of the Sphinx, Favoured Son, and Underworld Blues.

High Noon over Camelot This is my favourite mehcs album. So basically, this is Arthurian legend, but it's a space western and Jonny D'Ville does a bad southern accent. This is the story of the cowboy lovers Arther, Lancelot, and Guinevere searching for the Galfridian Restricted Acces Interface Login, or GRAIL, in order to stop their world from falling into the sun. Meanwhile, Mordred and Gawaine are ruling Camelot, and Mordred has convinced Gawaine to try to establish peace with the Saxons by whom Mordred was raised, but Gawaine hates viciously. If you love getting your heart broken and songs by a fucking off the rails batshit preacher I HIGHLY recommend hnoc. Fave songs are Gunfight at the Dolorous Guard, Blood and Whiskey, and Once and Future King. Honorary mention for Hellfire because it awakens something animalistic in me.

The Bifrost Incident TBI is the frankly only good adaptation of norse mythology I've ever known of, and I say that as Dane who was literally forced to learn things about norse mythology in school because it's my heritage or whatever. I've been listening to TBI a lot lately because it's VERY good. It's definitely the most refined of the mechs' albums (because it's the newest) but also I just love a little bit of cosmic horror. 80 years ago, Odin, the All-Mother, ruler of Asgaard, launched a train through the wormhole Bifrost that would reduce the travel between Asgaard and Midgaard from 3 months to 3 days, but things didn't go quite as planned. Lyfrassir Edda of the New Midgaard Transport Police is trying to solve the case of why suddenly the train has arrived 80 years late; to figure out whether it was accident or maybe it was sabotaged by Loki, who was allegedly sentence to death her murder of Baldur, by the Midgaardian resistance led by Loki's wife Sigyn, or maybe by Thor, who was to take over after Odin, and who holds quite the grudge because he used to be a friend of Loki's. You might've heard the song Thor from this album, it's apparently quite popular. Fave songs are Loki, Ragnarok III: Strange Meeting, and Ragnarok V: End of The Line. Yet again an honorary mention: Red Signal because while Lovecraft was a bitch, his invocations are fucking RAW.

Basically, the Mechanisms do all of their performances in character as captain first mate Jonny D'Ville, quartermaster Ashes O'Reilly, pilot DrumBot Brian, master-at-arms Gunpowder Tim, science officer Raphaella la Cognizi, doctor Baron Marius Von Raum (neither a baron, nor a doctor), archivist Ivy Alexandria, engineer Nastya Rasputina, and The Toy Soldier, who is, as usual, present. You can find very obscure lore about the crew of the Aurora here, tidbits on Tales To Be Told and TTBT Vol. 2, such as One Eyed Jacks, The Ignominious Demise of Dr. Pilchard, Gunpowder Tim vs. The Moon Kaiser, Lucky Sevens, and Lost in the Cosmos.

If you feel like listening to a full 40-50 minute album to find out if you like a band is a bit much, I recommend listening to one of the mini stories Alice, Swan Song, or Frankenstein, which are about 12, 5 and 9:30 minutes respectively.

3) The Amazing Devil You know that guy who played Jaskier in the Witcher? I got into The Amazing Devil from spotify recommending them because I listened to the mechs, and apparently Joey Batey from The Amazing Devil is the same Joey Batey who was in the Witcher. Both him and Madeleine Hyland are VERY talented singers and songwriters and their second album The Horror and the Wild makes me go out into the forest and SCREAM. I listened to it on repeat for like a month straight. I guess they'd also be considered folk, but like. New Folk. Also yes, this is another British artist, I don't know why I'm like this. I've never really gotten that into their first album, Love Run, but King slaps. As I understand there's this whole lore about the Blue Furious Boy and Scarlet Scarlet, Joey and Madeleine respectively, but unlike the Mechanisms it's actually possible to find out things about the actual real people and harder to find the obscure lore? I'm open for people to please help me. Fave songs are The Horror and the Wild, Farewell Wanderlust, and That Unwanted Animal, which is literally a third of their second album, but again. I haven't really listened to Love Run that much, and I just LOVE the harmonies on THATW. (also im gay and dramatic leave me alone)

4) dodie I have so much love for this woman. Like many others, I first knew dodie as doddleoddle on youtube. I think I first stumbled across her in probably 2015, because I distinctly already knew her before she released her first EP Sick of Losing Soulmates in 2016. I think I watched probably every video she's ever made in the span of a few weeks. I just loved her quiet sound and was absolutely HOOKED. Also she's actually the reason I got into MIKA originally, so thanks for that. Dodie just realeased her first album Build A Problem (in addition to her three EP's; the one mentioned above, You, and Human) and it slaps. Yes dodie is also British Fave songs are probably Monster, Rainbow, and In The Middle.

5) Cladia Boleyn Unfortunately, Claudia Boleyn only has three singles and that's it. She's been making content on youtube for quite a while, and that's how I first discovered her. I don't know what genre her music is, but I like it. The songs are Celesta, George, and Mother Maiden Crone, of which the latter is my favourite. I'm not saying Claudia Boleyn invented women in 2017 when she released Mother Maiden Crone, but she did. Also you guessed it, Claudia Boleyn is British.

6) Hozier I'm not about to tell you about Hozier. You know who he is. Listen to Nina Cried Power, Angel Of Small Death & The Codeine Scene, and Shrike. Also Hozier isn't stricly British in that he is definitely from A British Isle, but Ireland is not part of the UK. Give me a break.

7) Oh Land Oh Land IS DANISH. I like her early music best, because I'm not that into the electronic sound. I guess Oh Land is just you regular old pop, but with the occasional weird vibe? Oddly enough, I like her first album Fauna best. Unfortunately I haven't really listened to her newest album Family Tree much, but it seems good? Fave songs are Frostbite, Love You Better and Family Tree. I cried on the bus, first time I listened to the Danish version of Love You Better, Elsker Dig Mer because my mother tongue always just hits harder. Also Frostbite is Oh Land doing a duet with herself which is pretty cool.

8) Oysterband This is a live recommendation. I mean they're a decent folk band and all, but they're a fucking experience live. If you like folk and you ever get the opportunity to see Oysterband live, do it. Unfortunately, yes. They are British. Either way, they are incredible on a scene and I think they deserve a mention for that.

9) Ben Platt Honestly don't know much about this guy, but he's not British and he was in Dear Evan Hansen. He released an album in 2019, Sing To Me Instead, and I just think it's a good album, there isn't really not much more to it. Fave songs are Grow As We Go, Bad Habit, and In Case You Don't Live Forever.
