i wanna ramble a little about my picks, so

the clock - i first watched this last december, ans i was completely in love. besides watching the wizard of oz as a kid (and i barely remember it), i wasn't familiar with judy garland's works, so i decided to watch the clock and i was completely in love, not only with her but also with robert walker and this film in general. it's such a great little gem, so earnest and so full of life, it immediately became one of my favorites. i just adore it

rebecca - one of the first classic movies i've watched (i think it was either the third or the fourth?) and it introduced me to laurence olivier, hitchcock, joan fontaine and gothic melodramas, all of which i adore. i feel so strongly about this movie, i can barely put it into words

this gun for hire - i had to include a veronica lake movie, and it had to be this gun for hire. i love noirs, and this one is such a perfect example, so well done, so distinct and so full of yearning, it just stuck to me

wuthering heights - the one movie that really got me obsessed with old hollywood movies!! i loved this so much i felt absolutely sick. merle oberon gave such a brilliant performance, im still mad that she didn't get an oscar nomination for this

the secret garden - i decided i wanted to watch more old hollywood movies starring teen/children actors this year, because i ended up really liking the ones i had already watched, and this one is easily my favorite. it's so beautiful, so well written, and it deals with grief and escapism in such a perfect little way. margaret o'brien was so amazing in this, and she was only 12!

hold back the dawn - one of my all time favorites. it stars three of my favorite people: paulette goddard, olivia de havilland and charles boyer. i am absolutely obsessed with him now, and this movie definitely contributed to it, but it was really olivia that made me fall in love with it. she breathed life into her role, and i rarely see anything quite like it. and the romance between her and charles boyer's character? outstanding. i rewatch their honeymoon scenes all the time. everytime i watch this movie i fall more in love with these three

hangover square - another favorite noir of mine! i watched this for linda darnell, but really, it's laird cregar's movie. linda is one my favourites, and she knew how to play a femme fatale like nobody else, but laird cregar gave one of the best male perfomances of the 40s in this (probably only behind jimmy stewart in it's a wonderful life for me). it blew my fucking mind. the last 30 minutes or so of this are out of this world. laird dying so soon after this was completed is a big tragedy to me, i would have loved to see more of his perfomances

ninotchka - i haven't rewatched this in a while so i cant tell for sure, but i remember ninotchka so fondly, it's almost becoming my favorite screwball comedy (and i absolutely love screwballs, probably my favorite genre). it's hilarious, but it goes above and beyond that. it's lubitsch, garbo and melvyn douglas at their very best. i just adore it

princess o'rourke - another screwball! this one is a little gem, one that i was very surprised to love this much. olivia and bob cummings are so charming in this, i dont really have that much to say about it. it's just very cute, very funny, very romantic and a joy. it has its flaws, but it's just so enjoyable that it's hard to care

history is made at night - my all time favorite. favorite actor, favorite actress and borzage, who is quickly becoming my favorite director, together. absolutely masterpiece. this movie has a crazy plot, but everything works so well together that it's hard to care. it's such a magical movie, that ties romance, comedy, murder and even a big tragedy in such a seamless way. charles boyer and jean arthur have amazing chemistry, it absolutely kills me that they never made more movies together. i could talk about this movie forever, but people really should just watch it, because it's impossible to explain it till you see it with your own eyes.

alright what is my nygmobblepot college au??

title's self-explanatory, ed and oz are college students who slowburn fall in love

they're both freshman who end up being dormmates

ed's there for a bachelors in forensic science and oswald's getting a bachelor's in wildlife biology

edward also is minoring in psychology and oz is minoring in business

basically two autistic queer guys with a shit ton of baggage try to get through college together

also the riddler and the penguin arent things in this, ed is very much like s1/pre-riddler ed and oswalds basically the same just. less crime and killing djfghfkdhjg

i dont wanna spoil actual plot bc i wanna turn this into a fic, but here's ed and oswald's backstories <3

ed's a 20y/o nonbinary trans man who uses he/they

he's also autistic and has anxiety and deals with chronic pain (he's just like me fr <3333)

his mom left when he was really young and his father was super abusive

he doesn't remember most of his early childhood due to abuse and memory issues; memories get clearer around highschool

he met kristen in freshman year

she was stuck in an abusive relationship at the time

her father was really misogynistic and terrible to her mother, so she learned those kinds of behaviors from her parents

ed wasn't out at the time (but knew he was trans) so kristen was a lot kinder to him than when they met in canon

she still thinks he's weird but they kind of become friends

long story short, ed starts to help her realize the abuse she's going through and the unhealthy patterns she's learned

through their early high school years, ed helps her unlearn that and get out of the bad relationship shes in

he also finally comes out to her and she accepts him (after being kinda weird abt it at first bc. transphobic dad gkjfhgk)

in turn, she helps ed realize the abuse he's going through

ed also gets really attached to kristens mom

kristens mom is actually a really nice lady, she just has a shit husband and was taught she should be treated like that

kristen getting out of that mindset actually helps her mom get out of it too and she kicks her husband out of the picture

did i mention kristens parents are stupid rich

even after her husband leaves, her mom still is pretty wealthy

when ed finally turns 18, he gets the fuck out of there and lives with kristen and her mom

through all this, ed and kristen try dating and its good for a while

but they realize they're better friends

kristens mom becomes like a mom to ed

she ends up paying for ed's college, hormone therapy, top surgery, name change, and therapy

he's eternally thankful to her

he goes to community college and gets his associates in forensics

kristen goes with him and gets an associates in english

after they've gotten their associates, ed goes to an out of town four year where he meets oz

kristen stays in town, but they still call/talk often

now time for oswald heehee

he's a 21y/o trans guy who uses he/him

gertrud raised him alone, claiming his father was dead

she was extremely overbearing and heavily attached to her son to an unhealthy level

he was bullied a lot as a child

he's also autistic and has adhd <3

he still has his limp, but he gets it in middle school after some kids broke his ankle and gertrud took care of it herself instead of taking him to a doctor

he has a cane which he uses most days

he realizes he's trans very early on in his life and gertrud was very supportive

she let him transition socially and changes his name legally around high school

if she had the money for it, she would have absolutely payed for surgeries and such

at the time of the au, his names changed legally and hes on T (payed for himself)

he has a special interest in penguins and wants to be an ornithologist so he can work with them

he focuses a lot on science in school and always gets A's in it

usually gets b's and c's in everything else (and only gets that high of grades bc he doesn't wanna disappoint his mom)

he goes to community college for an associates in biology

right after his senior year of high school, gertrud starts to get really sick

she refuses to go to a doctor so oswald is balancing taking care of her, having various part time jobs, and getting his associates

its a big rough patch for him and his mental heath takes a huge dip at the time

when he gets his degree and finds the college he wants to go to (which is out of state), he realizes he cant leave his mom the way she is and cant go to college financially yet

so he takes a gap year to earn money and keep taking care of gertrud

he finally gets her to go to a doctor and gets her on medication

when the end of his gap year rolls around, he has enough money to get by on financial aid without any loans

he finally moves out, still talking to his mother often and keeping a eye on her health (though she doesn't tell him much)

now theyre both in college and the au actually starts dfjghfdkjhg! yes i have more backstory for the au than actual plot for it leave me alone <3 basically i love them

i have no idea how the other characters fit into this btw jghkfjdgkdfjhg they will exist at some point but for now they dont heehee

- hiiiii laura bailey i wish you had more than a lil baby line and some sounds of effort

- great parent move. telling your kid you’ll only save them once.

- god everyone else is so happy and excited and then there’s ruby who is one of the very few people who knows how bad a fight between penny and pyrrha could be and pyrrha who’s got to decide if she wants someone else’s aura smushed with hers, which could turn her into a different person. FUCK

- peeeennyyyyy “salutations!! it’s an honor to meet you!” it huuuurts

- it makes me so sad but damn was this a good diabolical plan

- god im so sad. penny is so good. and pyrrha’s fuckin eyes. and ruby just collapsing. jesus christ. it’s all fuckin falling apart

- oh fuck here we go. those klaxons are so terrifying

- it makes me so happy that torchwick gets rescued and then like maybe a couple episodes later just gets swallowed

- the fuckin adam fight is coming up too. jesus. really piling on here

- RUBY IS USING ONE OF PENNY’S SWORDS IM GONNA CRYYY

- and she doesn’t even hesitate to save pyrrha

- the one and only time (to my memory) that ironwood is gentle is when he says no one would blame the students if they left. that might be the last time he actually remembers that they’re all teenagers and feels sympathy for these children with all this pressure on them

- oh yeah the big boy

- the first time i watched this i was LOSING MY MIND this whole time. like yang attacked mercury and from then on man. just freaking out.

- c’mon blake you got this. i mean. technically you don’t. the fight goes poorly. but you fuckin try and you’re so brave about it and i love youuu

- aahhhh i love velvet!!! her semblance and her whole fighting style is so goddamn cool and has such interesting implications for using weapons and powers of people who are dead

- a backhanded slap feels so much more violent than any fighting with weapons

Ok me again on the Oz not saying Salam can be killed. I dont remember very well but i didnt think he lied about it? I mean it was always a never ending fight vs monsters and protecting people. I just thought he never said. I mean trust has to be earned and these are just students. Who Qrow helped get here.

Also thoughts on if you think they should be made hunters and huntresses? It kinda feels cheap that Ironwood just gave it to them. They havent really earned it them selves? Also i feel it was just to earn their trust. My memory of the show is bad though so correct me if in wrong lol.

Welcome back, anon! I have so many thoughts based on this ask, okay:

One: I actually feel you on the bad memory front and I have to confess, I haven't watched the show in- oh god- I think almost a year??? For a hyperfixation of mine thats- wow- that's like a new record so, my memory might not be better 😅

Two: You make an excellent point I didn't touch on but also have thought about a lot. RWBYJNR are 17 year old kids who have shown promise but haven't quite proven themselves yet. They also launched head first into a war they knew nothing about. A decision they made, on their own, after Ozpin had fucking died (and before they knew he'd come back).

Three: I also agree with you on the huntsman license front, thank you for making this so easy 😆 granted, I read this take somewhere else, but I stand by it. To me, it feels cheap narratively speaking. They wanted to give us a win, something to celebrate with the characters before everything fell apart again. Instead of putting in the work and building up to something meaningful they threw in a quick, easy "here's your license" scene and called it a day.

I'm sorry, guys, I don't mean to be so salty 😅 I love the world and the characters of the show, but sometimes the writing gets to me and anon asked my opinion so... I'm being honest 😅

RWBY VOLUME 8 EPISODE 10 SPECULATION AFTERMATH!!!

SPOILERS!!!

Ugh!!! 😩 Do you know how much of a pain it is to work around trying to watch a RWBY episode when it comes out and manage a job with a 12 hour shift?? It SUCKS!!! I wasn’t able to watch the episode until late late Saturday night because I was too exhausted to stay awake to watch it and then had to go back to work the next few days!!! Sigh.....it doesn’t matter......BECAUSE THIS EPISODE WAS SO AMAZING AND STUNNING THAT NOW I DONT GIVE A S*** ABOUT THE LONG HOURS!!! 😆 Welp....enough about my lack of sleep, let’s get right into the Aftermath!!!

-(When The TinMan Loses “Heart”) Well I’m glad I got this portion of the episode somewhat right from my speculation 😏. I’m glad we are finally getting a continuation of Qrow and Robyn’s story arc for this volume and it looks like it’s heading towards its climax when they finally meet the general.

Speaking of which......Sweet Cream On A Ice Cream Sandwich 😆 Whoever directed those portion of Ironwoods scenes deserves an award because those were GOOD!!! The tension in the air when he speaks, the dread of wondering what he is about to do, the conveniently placed light shining down upon him as he delivers his ultimatum, all of it had me at the edge of my seat when I was watching it and I loved it! Now unfortunately I know that there are fans of Ironwood that are disappointed with how things are going for him so I just want to say my piece and my stance on his character so there won’t be any confusion in the future. When Ironwood was introduced in the series back in volume 2 I have always assumed that he would eventually become an “antagonist” to Team RWBY. CRWBY has conveyed that well enough for me through out the series that seeing what’s transpiring right now is of no surprise to me. Now it’s important to note that I am not going to call Ironwood a “villain��, but instead an “antagonist”, because the writing back in volume 7 has made me believe that there is chance of him being redeemed in the future. His character for me has always been of someone that fully believes that to get through a situation that they must do it “their way” and that there in no other alternatives. After coming face to face with the reality of Salem and her immortality he is now walking the same path as headmaster Leonardo did and that Fear is gripping him from listening to others. But after watching volume 7 I believe that there may be chance to get through to him and make him see reason because he is a good man under all that metal. Words alone were enough to make him understand before Salem’s arrival but now knocking some since into him is the only way to make him see reason.....and I believe Qrow may be the one to do it. Question now is.....will he knock some sense into the tin-man before vengeance grips his mind and ends up killing him instead? We will have to see......

-(“A few more Tricks Up Its Sleeve”) Ok....In my speculation post I made a prediction of how the story would continue after Oscar releasing the Long-Memory’s power because I thought it would be just destroying Salem and Hazel only. BUT Apparently it was enough power to create a huge blast to destroy not only Salem and Hazel, but the Whale and surrounding Grimm!?!? 😳 HOLY S***!!!! That whole sequence was honestly amazing and yet another part of the episode that I found aesthetically pleasing!!! Not only that but the aftermath with the fog and debris after the explosion surrounding the city as the sun rises was great as well. Oz wasn’t kidding when he said that the cane had a few tricks up it’s sleeve and to finally know that it can store up “kinetic energy” is an interesting way for CRWBY to put about it. I am disappointed that my prediction was wrong but it’s given me new things to think about for the story to go forward with so I admit defeat yet again with my tin foil hat on and a smile on my face ��.

-(A Remedy For A Bloody Migraine) This Scene was Amazing and much needed after dealing with Cinder’s shortcomings after Beacon for so long. Christopher Sabat will always be a win for me to when a voice actor conveys anger and sarcasm at the same time in a character they are playing. I was honestly expecting Cinder to drop Watts to his death after his rant but seeing her drag him back and tearfully accept the truth of his words has boldend my view of her characters growth as a villain going forward. The “Power trip” and presence of her believing she’s better then everyone has become a crutch in her character for some time and now there is finally someone telling her straight up of her failures to her face and I’m honestly quite glad it’s Watts. These two has always had disdain between each other since volume 4, so to see how this scene plays out has me wondering if we may see a change in not only Cinder going forward as a villain but in also how Watts works with her in future volumes. 😊Also I gotta love the short scene involving Neo texting Cinder about the lamp. Neo is a loveable little s*** but it’s funny to know that Cinder is the same when taking pictures of someone, just to make a contact profile for them lmao 😆.

-(Reunion) After being separated from each other since episode 1 of the volume, it is really nice to see them back together again. I also loved the music in the background when the scene was playing out, especially when the chorus hit during the bumblebee scene. I am bit disappointed that no one commented on Oscar’s terrible condition yet but seeing Emerald all of a sudden pop up is understandably a good reason to pause rational thinking lol. I will say though that I have a pretty good feeling that the next episode will address about Oscar and many other things between certain characters that I have been waiting for, so I am excited about that.

-(Ultiamtum) With Salem momentarily gone it is now time to deal with Ironwood and to what eventually I believe will lead to the staff of creation. Things are now heading towards the climax of the volume and Ironwoods “ultimatum” may resurface some issues that were addressed back in episode 1. There is no doubt the heroes will have to make a tough choice between saving thousands of lives or saving one friend and whatever they choose to do I believe will form more division between the heroes. To whom ever will be conflicting about the ultimatum will undoubtably make us the audience have issues going forward in the story on whose in the “right”........so yeah be prepared for that upcoming storm of emotions lol 😓

Episode 10 of Volume 8 is by far the most aesthetically pleasing in the story and it has built up some interesting plot points for us to wonder about going forward. So Until The Next Episode......BUH-BYE!!! 😆😆😆😆

I just need to write this all out because I can’t keep having it bouncing in my head

Where do I start? I married an addict. I know this. I knew that. For better or for worse means you stand by someone as they struggle to be a better person.

A year into our marriage my mom unexpectedly died. I was already dealing with my own personal complicated relationship with alcohol, and it was easier to drink than to deal with the trauma. But I kept going. Kept moving forward.

My husband’s drinking got bad. His mood got worst. He hated his job. He felt isolated from his few friends; we had moved cities for my work, and he had still not recovered from the pre-me life of being a barfly, where your fellow drinkers feel as close to friends as your lifestyle can sustain.

Two years after my mom died, we attempted therapy. He did not take well to it; the therapist was clear he thought my husband was depressed and struggling and he didn’t think my husband was doing anything to help himself. My husband decided he wanted to stop going. I went a few more times myself. I knew we couldn’t sustain the place we were in.

I told my husband two years ago that if he did not get a handle on himself, I was done. I would told him I wanted to leave. And he asked me for a chance to be better. He acknowledged how bad he had been. We agreed to plan on working forward together.

I always knew my husband enjoyed his beer. He would be fine one second and then the next I would have to make excuses for us to leave whatever social situation we were in. It was like there was no tipsy warning period.

When I was a kid, I knew my mom liked to drink. I didn’t realize how much my parents were drinking until I was an adult. I didn’t realize how often the opaque coffee tumblrs were actually filled with vodka. I didn’t realize how long it would take a normal person to go through a 40 oz bottle. I didn’t realize that was likely where much of our money was going.

A few years after we had been together, my husband and I had been visiting my family when my husband turns to me and says “wow your Mom is drunk, huh?” and it was like... the scene in HIMYM with the glass breaking realization? That was me. Everything wild and fun about my mom was the alcohol. Every conversation she couldn’t seem to remember and brushed off as though there were too many things in her head? That was the vodka talking. I started to recognize the slur in her words. I started to know I had to set times in which I could talk to her - any later than 5pm her time was a lost cause. It changed how I handled her. It changed how I related to her.

My husband used to qualify his drinking. So long as he didn’t miss a day of work, he said, he wasn’t that bad.

After I told him I wanted to leave, things really did get better. He stopped falling asleep on the couch. I stopped seeing the glassy eyes. He was sleeping better. We were having sex again.

And in that period of things getting better, we got pregnant. I had conquered my own demons at that point. Even before I realized I was pregnant and had to, I had quit most drinking. I did not nurse myself to bed with wine to numb myself to sleep. And so quitting for pregnancy, and effectively staying dry and sober for breast feeding came easy to me. Nowadays, one drink gets me a happy buzz. And unless I was away from my daughter, I wouldn’t want any more than that.

My husband took parental leave. We would do sleep shifts with the baby; trading off for six or eight hours so the other could be human. And after a few months, I was due to go back to the office.

I told him, unequivocally, I would not be drinking when the baby was awake. I asked him to please consider doing the same. He had been doing so well - this felt like the logical next step?

Instead, the few months I spent at the office it seemed like his drinking became this money pit that our fragile finances couldn’t sustain. One month he spent $1,000 on beer and liquor. But he hadn’t been glassy eyed? He hadn’t passed out on the couch? I still cannot reconcile how he was drinking ~ 10 beers a day (yes, I did the math) and had seemed so normal?

Things came back under control when he returned to work. I chalked it up to the restlessness of being home, the isolation of spending most of the day with the baby who was only just then starting to seem like a little person herself. I hadn’t seen the signs of the man who had once fallen in the street. I told myself it wasn’t great, but it wasn’t as bad, and I could live with it if it kept getting better.

We have spent many weekends this year camping. It is basically the only covid-safe activity we can find given the baby’s age and my husband’s asthma. In pre-baby days, we used to nurse drinks through the whole day, sitting around the fire and reading. I told my husband, in no uncertain terms, he is the only driver, and I expected that he would be sober and ready to drive if something were to happen to the baby.

Five camping trips. Twice he broke that rule. It was often a matter of “shove some carbs into him and he became human again”, but I still felt sad. Still felt lonely. Still felt like this was a reminder that I was hanging onto hope of things getting better by the thinnest thread.

And this weekend, as I’m trying to explain to him what my parents drinking did to me, what I don’t want it to do to our daughter, how he is almost forty and he needs to start seriously considering that this could kill him, he tells me (as if it was good? I still dont understand) that when it was at its worst, when it was so bad before I threatened to leave him, that I didn’t know how bad it was. That I didn’t know he was often having a beer before leaving for work at 7am. That I didn’t know he was often sharing beers with the guys at work in the cooler at the shop. That I didn’t know how much he had been hiding from me.

This. This is where I have not been able to keep thinking. I know the narrative that led to this place. I know every decision I have made has led me to my daughter.

But how do I deal with this knowledge. How do I deal with the flippancy of what he told me. How do I trust when it has become so clear that my own hawk-eyed observance, of tracking how much is purchased, on hiding the liquor bottles when his mood is bleak, that it was never enough.

How do I trust any of the progress that has been made is real? How do I believe that any of it even is progress anymore - and not just cleverly disguised from me?

I feel like that girl who had her whole perception of her Mom shattered all over again. Who once again has realized that her intuition, her attention, was so wrong.

And were back at it again, this week with turkey and Italian preserved sausage as a snack! Lets see what RT has for us this week.

Oh, 20 minutes. Are they normally this long?

Oh, wait, the openings almost 2 minutes long. Thats more like it.

And now to Robyn and Qrow. Seems Robyns actually liking Qrow a little bit now.

Guess the cells aren’t secured if a fly got into Schnee’s. This a “Fly on Mike Pence’s face” reference?

Qrow sounds more growly again. Did he get smacked back two seasons by Clover dying?

If by “darkness” you mean “Tyrian” then, yes. Also dude, its Clover. He was shit anyway. All the Aces are shit. Dont feel too bad about him.

And he’s got a point too. If Clover had thought with his head instead of his dick (yes, Im sure they were gonna fuck, Fair Games totally a thing), he probably wouldnt be dead now, and Tyrian would be the one with the sword through his chest.

But of course this is RWBY and V7/8 so things cant go their ways.

Ouch. Deep thoughts of Qrow. And some interesting stuff from Robyn too. I still think I’d prefer hopeandharmonizing’s Briar, though.

Marrows glare gives me life. Hare’s just a moron right now though, but thats no real surprise. She’s immature emotionally. Honestly, shes...kind of like a less bad version of our current President. Always has to be the best at everything, fastest, leader, whatever.

Thats probably why this is grating on her so much. Even though shes TECHNICALLY the Ace’s leader now (I think? Seemed like she was Clovers lieutenant, so by rate of succession she’s in command now)

A glance at the little floating control pad... “Clerance access only”. Okay, that...seems weird. Shouldnt it say something like authorized personell only? Maybe it means access by clerance only or something.

Then Robyn’s name, and then process ID 4591-27. No idea what thats useful for but its there.

Also Marrow seems to be the only competent member of the Aces rn.

Ah now we get to see some of the hills around Atlas. For those of you who have seen my headcanons on the Hunter-Killers and their base of operations, Fortress Academy, its out in these hills somewhere.

The music sounds like a boss fight.

The screen on Ren’s hoverbike reads “HVB Rhino” and “HD5800″ I can only assume HVB stands for “hoverbike” and Rhino must be its name, like how the dropships are Mantas. No clue what the number is.

Also apparently the cold in Solitas is so bad it corrupts machinery?

Ahh, good, some action. Lets see what we get now. Ohh, teamwork. And again, signs that aura allows you to move faster and farther than a normal human

Heh, it really is like a boss fight, like the chase scene at the end of the first Viking level in For Honor.

Oh, and it can call for reenforcements literally out of nowhere? Or is the whole tundra of Solitas just CRAWLING with Grimm?

Yes, yes it did just call for backup, Yang. Maybe these are all forward scouts and ambush units from the Grimmstorm. They did say its the biggest...

Also you can just kinda see it but they bounce off the rock and thats why they slow down. Useful.

Also this part with them falling off the edge reminds me of the ending cutscene of Halo 4s Forerunner level, where Chief flies out of a portal and almost goes sailing off a cliff in a Ghost. Except here, the bike stays on the land and THEY go off the cliff.

Holy shit what are Ren’s weapons cables MADE OF? The one atop him is holding him AND the weight of his two teammates. And the one below has both Jaune and Yang. No sign of slippage or breackage at all.

Ahhh there’s the whaleship (Monstra? Fuck it Im gonna keep calling it the whaleship). So yeah my headcanon now is the mountain its right next too is Menachite, where Fortress is.

Also, Jaune’s hair seems to have gotten less crazy in recent episodes. It looks less like a banana and more like a close tactical cut.

Ignoring the boring chat between these two, notice how the Hound’s shoulder literally flexes and shifts when Salem touched it. I dont think this thing is solid at all aside from the head and the bone claws...the whole thing is just amorphous Grimm material that can adapt to whatever situation it requires. A specialist unit. A...Hunter hunter.

At which point without Oz around to hold them back Atlas is going to go fucking BONKERS and basically ensure the Grimm get pushed back into a corner and then finally permenantly STAMPED OUT.

More Whale insides. Seems like most of its empty grandious spaces. Or possibly muscle? Hard to tell. Either way theres a lot of open air in there...with tight corridors. If you fired a thermobaric warehead into one of the chambers the resulting blastc could possibly blow the doors off and send a raging fireball through the entire thing...Hmm. Filing that away for later.

NEO IS SO SHORT ITS FUNNY TO ME. I know its just positioning BUT SHE LOOKS EVEN SHORTER IN THIS SHOT THAN USUAL.

More note on the Hound; the “flesh” around its right shoulder spike actually sinks down when it stops moving. Its neck shifts and moves too, like the material isnt solid, but recirculating.

I also dont see any eyes. And it looks like it has some kind of...forehead mouth? Def looks like teeth down the ridge of its spine.

Oh boy yeah that...whole thing is basically melting in on itself.

I wont lie; hearing Cinder get berated by CORTANA (and yes, I still hear Cortana in Salem, espeically now that the two characters are kind of one and the same, both megalomaniacal leaders of giant armies, bar the fact that one of them is about a TRILLION times more dangerous than the other because one of them has access to Guardian Custodies and the other one is...well kind of lame and has to have beefy dudes beat up on small children etc) is pleasing to me.

Frason AS Nygmobblebot

Just Ed and Oz thing’s I think correlate rather nicely with Freddy and Jason. For fun.

Jason is Penguin because he’s arguably the most popular Slasher (Who doesn't look at a hockey mask now and think at some level about horror??), was close with his parents / mother (Pamela is a composition of Gertrude and Fish) and is pretty cute some most of the time. Also! Sex appeal doesnt work on either of them (Referring to Ivy's perfume not working on Oz)

And Freddy is Riddler because they’re both bastards who are extra and theatrical. And *cough* they both killed their first romantic partner. I think the same way, too??

As far as Oz being the more experienced killer, F13 did come out 4 years before ANOES, and strictly speaking, Jason was out of 'normal' society a looooong time before Freddy entered the dream realm. (Jason: 11 years old when he started living in the forest. In fact, Oz was so cute and timid in the first season that you could call him a 'Baby' penguin. Or 'child' penguin, like what Jason was // Freddy: 26-7 when he died. You could consider the time Freddy was secrely jilling kids in the basement akin to Ed's season two 'Villain Puberty')

Okay, the part in Gotham when Riddler loses his smarts and 'befriends' (Manipulates) Butch / Solomon Grundy into being his friend and protecting him so he doesnt get killed by criminals in the city because he knows that without his brains, he will be an easy target for people that already hate him and want him dead? In this version, Freddy (Who is stuck in the real world in a mortal form) manipulates Bubba, Jasons non-blood brother, the same way because he's big, 'dumb' and easy to control with some 'kindness' and a smile; Freddy uses Bubba for protection from other Horror Villains LIKE Jason who he antagonised when he was powerful, by telling him that they're friends. Does that make sense? XD Aha

At this time when Freddy is stuck in the real world, he he finds the perfect living for himself by starring an underground, illegal fight club with Bubba as his star fighter. Freddy often dresses up as Jason and mocks him.

Okay moving on completely from that.

Um?? Riddler / Freddy setting up a whole horrible delusion of Penguin / Jason’s parent coming back to life and tormenting him?? Sounds pretty familiar.

Jason actually believing he’s sane after all the electroshock therapy and stuff in Arkham (Or whatever our Horror Villain equivalent is. Hell?) like ‘Oh I am sane- I have a certificate!!’ and Freddy knows damn well his crazy ass is a pyschopath like ‘I’m... sane? Are you sure about that?’

Okay, Freddy actually thinking he suceeded in killing Jason finally, and then proceeding to have a hallucinatory bisexual panic because Jason’s gone and now he has no ‘worthy’ enemies.

-jaSON GETS A LITTLE ADOPTED SON LIKE MARTIN. MAYBE BRAHMS??

Riddler! Making! Oz! The paper! Penguin! What I'm saying is mayyyybe Freddy can repair Jason's machete or something?

Some organisation like the Court of Owls (Maybe a group who are hell bent om destroying all Slashers) put a chip in Freddys brain so they can control him and have him do large-scale terrible things to other Slashers (Instead of the bit where the Riddler is made to bomb the hospital place) because who would believe that Freddy didnt do that on his own accord? He would.

Them working together to get out of Court Of Owls Jail / Hell (Like they were gonna in one of the proposed FVSJ 2 plots with Pinhead involved). They agree on an hour of grace period where they wont try and kill each other, so that they can successfully get out... but of course they both try to skip to the killing bit... multiple times.

Antagonizing each other like literal children in said Court Of Owls Jail / Hell.

Jerome is Michael- the third part of the 3 main Gotham / Horror villains who both Jason and Freddy are both, understandably, a bit concerned about and decide to work together to try and get rid of him.

Omg XD Penguin having Victor freeze Riddler and keeping him in the Ice Lounge: Jason maybe keeping Freddy's head at the end of FVSJ (If you are to assume Jason won that and that Freddy is now just some kinda conscious zombie head now) and using it as like, an annoying paperweight or audible decoration. Out of pure spite. We know Jason has it in him- he might not be as mischievious as Michael is, but he's absolutely got it in him.

Me: Raven is like "Ya ok but what do I get out of this" and Summer goes "You'll get answers." And Raven says "Sounds sus but ok."

Dad: Ya. So they go to Mistral, open the vault, ask Jinn about why Silver eyes are being hunted, and get their answer.

Me: Raven just nopes out of there like "I ain't ever going back" while Summer goes "Welp. Time to get myself killed."

Dad: Ya, probably. Raven leaves and Summer tries to Kamahamaha Salem with her silver eyes but dies trying.

Dad: Winter is going to kill Ironwood. Sword right through the throat.

Dad: Teah brought something up earlier-

Me: Was it the taco thing?

Mom: Taco thing?

Dad: It was not the taco thing.

Me: Oscar uses the staff and says "Spooky Spooky give us back the husband" to bring back Ozma. "Please help we have your wife and we don't know what to do with her we are sorry."

Dad: If anyone hurts a hair on Penny's head I will kill everyone and them myself.

Dad: Kill off Qrow. And Robynn. Just for the shock value.

Me: Do it infront of the kids, cause they see him as a father figure.

Dad: Yes. Do it at the end. Right after Salem is purged of her Grimm self by the silver eyes-

Me: -if the group is smart enough to figure that out-

Dad: -and have it happen unexpectedly.

Me: Do it right at the end of the volume. Have everyone's shocked faces and then cut off the season. Have Raven and Tai and Zwei portal in to and watch Qrow die. The Happy Huntresses are there for Robynn.

Mom: No! Dont kill off Qrow.

Me: Or wait for Qrow to die. Do it after Vacuo when he's adopted CFVY and the Beacon students there.

Dad: No, because, as much as I love Qrow, he's had his arc now its death time. Just have the fandom cannibalize itself.

Dad: Ozpin is hiding much more then we know. He knows too much.

Me: Is that part of the reason why he lied about the no more lies amd halftruths things? Because he knew Yang and everyone else was keeping lies and telling half truths?

Dad: Yes!

Me: Listen, Robynn has fingerless gloves. Who else has fingerless gloves? Coco and Yang. What do Yang and Coco have in common? Theyre both lesbians. Therefore, Robynn is Lesbian.

Mom: I still headcanon they are both bi.

Me: Robynn litteraly runs an army of women, Mom.

Dad: Alright, I'm not gonna interfere with your shipper logic.

Dad: I headcanon Hot Chocolate was invented during the Great War and the King of Vale tried it and was all like "This is good. I'm gonna drink it for the rest of my life." And when he was put into Ozpin Ozpin was "I have the sudden urge for Hot Chocolate."

Me: Poor Oscar.

Me: I still like your theory that Oscar has a mimicry semblance.

Dad: If they don't unlock Oscar's semblance as the ability to act as someone else and no one says "Give this man an award" I will riot.

Dad: Oz is going to have his ideal happy ending, right? What does he want most in the world? Death.

Me: Ooh, fun.

Me: I never understood why heroes do the motivational speech. Like, if someone went up to me and said "Hey wanna fight an evil organization and stop the end of the world for the good of humanity" I would be like "No thanks." But if someone came up to me and said "Wanna go fight a guy?" I would immediatly say yes.

Dad: See, that's the same thing. You just worded it differently. You got to appeal to your audience. In any case, Ruby isnt going to be able to unite humanity against Salem. Salem, however, could do something so bad that humanity turns agaisnt her without leadership. Because when someone gives a motivational speech there is always that one person that goes "BuT wHaT iF-" or when the fight begins someone says "wElL aCtUaLlY-" like no shut up.

Dad: Salem is going to be taken care of this season, and Cinder will go in Volume 9. The bad guy if Volume 10, in Vale, with be the Brothers.

Me: Figures.

Me: The staff of creation just summons a bunch of ghosts in suits discussing how to take down Salem.

Dad: a staff meeting, ha!

Me: Like Summer and Pyrrha are there in suits-

Dad: And all of the Oz incarnations. Just like "you got them in your head to?" "Yep." "Same."

Me: Do you think after they free Salem of her Grimm self she'll join the gang?

Dad: No-

Me: That's sad.

Me: *trying to explain the Oz timeline and where the Infinite Man fits in*

Dad: *nodding in obvious confusion*

Dad: Did Ozma 2.0 and Salem have a son?

Me: Diggs and Salem had four daughters. One for each season. Spring, Winter, Summer, Fall. Color coordinated and everything.

Dad: They arent going to have a happily ever after. What's going to happen is the brothers are going to view humanity as a disaster. With 3 out of 4 of the nations being in ruin, they won't see humanity as being united even if everyone worked together to defeat the final boss. So they are going to let Oz and Salem die and then send RWBY, JNPR, CFVY, ect. back to before Salem went batshit crazy-

Me: The first time or Atlas?

Dad: The first time. So they are going to stop Salem from jumping into craziness. Get it, because she jumped into the pools-

Me: I get it.

Dad: It wont be a HAPPY happy ending but there is no saving Remnant. It was a punishment anyways and Salem already won.

Me: Why cant they just put Atlas on top of the Pools of Grimm?

Dad: Because then Salem will have a giant flying castle.

Me: She already has a castle. And she has a flying whale Grimm. Just put the castle on top of the whale and BOOM! Flying castle.

Dad: I still think Jaune's sword is the Sword of Destruction. Nothing in this show happens without purpose.

Me: No, everything has a purpose, just some things get forgotten and/or ignored.

Me: The group is going to be those parents that when their kid says they don't want to do homework go "When I was your age-"

Dad: Like "When I was your age I stopped an evil monster!"

Me: "I killed my Collage Professor's evil ex wife!" Nora is going to be telling her and Ren's kids the battle of Atlas. "We were alone facimg against an army of Grimm!"

Dad: Its going to play out as Nora telling the group the Beowulf story with Ren correcting her. "We were hopelessly outnumbered." "We weren't." "Surrounded by an army of Beowulfs." "There were two."

Me: "The middle of the night!" "It was the afternoon."

Dad: Ren just resigns himself to spending his life correcting Nora's story telling.

Me: She's telling her kids stories-

Dad: And Ren is just in the kitchen making tea.

Me: Nora goes "Our teacher's wife invaded mantle with thousands of Grimm! The Jellyfish were invading Mantle!" "They were floating in the sky." "We were farther apart then ever-"

Dad: "We were a block away."

Me: "The General.... Was Ironwooding." The rest of the group comes over with their kids. Nora is screaming about the story and Ruby and Yang join in. Ren and Weiss correcting them.

Dad: Blake is in the corner drinking tea.

Me: She looks up and goes "This is great tea." Meanwhile Ren is still busy correcting Nora.

Dad: "But they didnt know we had a secret weapon... A 20 foot laser eyed robot!" "She was 4' 8""

Me: Oscar comes over one day and says "Remember that one time I was shot off Atlas by James and fell and broke my aura falling down to Mantle." And everyone is like no??? Cause with the way things are going, he's not going to tell them.

Dad: Qrow is just upstairs banging his cane on the ground like "Keep it down I'm trying to sleep!"

Me: I love how we assume Qrow lives with them.

Dad: Of course he does. Where else would he stay?

Me: Tai.

Dad: Qrow is that old nuisance who lives with them.

Me: He's an old bird half the time just chilling on everyone's shoulders. How would the rest of the group be paired up? The only canon ship we got is Renora.

Dad: What Salem did with bringing back Ozma was essentially the 'Go to ask Dad. Dad gave you an answer you did not like. Go to Mom. Mom says yes. Parents start fighting and punish the kid."

Me: If Salem had gone to the younger brother, or in this case, mom, she wouldve gotten what she wanted and there would be a war on the Brother's hands cause the older couldn't punish Salem and could only argue against the younger.

A random headcanon: AUTISM. anyway he brings a million frogs back to the fanlair every day even when theyre not in season and so there are so many frogs hopping around the fanlair at all times and sometimes the pig eats them and chum chum cries but fanboy is like “it’s okay chum chum. it’s the circle of life.” then a frog hops directly into the pigs mouth and chum chum cries harder

General Opinion over said character: I’m...not the biggest fan of him. i dont DISLIKE him but i think he could be WAYYY more enjoyable ESPECIALLY if the entire series didnt like revolve around him. also i want him to be angry it’s so fucking funny that hes like yes kyle i do love to kill people. i want to be a supervillain who murders people including chum chum. hes just a kid full of sooooo much anger and violent glee. and i like how he is in like night morning and stuff where hes like just like *IS A WEIRDO* and fangboy and stuff. idk. he hits different in some episodes

♥ oh gods, you really just love getting me on the analysis trains, hm ?

♥ ( note ; do not read this post if you absolutely love ruby with all of your heart and believe she is 100% innocent , to each their own , these are just my own personal opinions and im not trying to offend anybody )

♥ warning ! this post is very long, and essentially turned into a character analysis of specific moments and nearly an entire volume largely based off of how i see the show. it is multiple paragraphs long, standing at exactly 3444 words exactly. there will be a tl;dr at the end for anybody who doesnt want to read the full post, or has trouble focusing ! thank you for understanding.

♥ where do i start ? personally, ruby’s character really got it’s worst in volume 7. i really enjoyed her character pre - fall of beacon, and a decent amount in volumes 4 - 6 as well. there is a moment in volume 4 that make me let out a long sigh, as well as a singular moment in volume 5 that greatly confuses me on her character, so i will touch up on that as well.

♥ volume 7 is what kills my love for her character, in all honest, as well as some moments in volume 6 that i feel could have been written better. i’ll go in chronological order for this, starting with my “:///” towards a part in volume 4, then confusion of a scene in volume 5, then the slight issues that developed with her in volume 6, then moving on to volume 7 and how im no longer really enjoying her character

♥ so, in volume 4, its very common knowledge that tyrian was sent to attack and retrieve ruby to bring back to salem, due to her having silver eyes and the damage she cause salems fall maiden. when qrow shows up to save ruby at the perfect last second, he adamantly tells her and the rest of team rnjr to stay out of the fight. at first, ren and nora dont listen, but then do, which is fair. but ruby continued to push her helping qrow. as we all know now, qrow was telling her to stay back due to his semblance. while, yes, ruby did help qrow against tyrian with a couple of the blows, the fight would have gone much different should she have not interfered (personally, i feel like qrow would have had a shot at beating tyrian, especially because their auras were both flickering and they seemed very evenly matched). but due to her constant interference, she nearly got knocked out by a large wooden beam, had qrow not sliced it in half. she wound up (even if it was accidentally) distracting qrow, giving tyrian the opportunity to nearly poison him. i dont hate her for wanting to help in this scene, because its her uncle who she cares about, but i feel like she also should have trusted qrow and stayed out of the fight. the line “this is my fight too” also gets me. maam, this isnt your fight, the fight is about you, but doesnt need to physically involve you.

♥ with volume 5. its a very well known scene, at least in my opinion. when weiss got impaled by none other than cinder fucking fall. within the few episode long battle for haven, we did see ruby’s eyes activate once when jaune and cinder were running / flying at each other to fight. i do understand why her eyes activated there, because jaune is her first friend from beacon that wasn’t her sister, arguably one of her closest. what i dont understand is why ruby’s eyes didnt activate when she saw that cinder had impaled weiss with the spear, weiss sitting in the same position ruby last saw pyrrha in, weiss an inch from death. it just doesnt add up to me how her teammate and partner, somebody who’s saved her multiple times and shes saved multiple times. it may be that she was too stressed in the moment for them to properly activate, which we’ve seen ( in volume 7 ), but i still feel like something should have happened with her eyes.

♥ continuing on with volume 6, i really didnt have many issues with her character here either, but a few of her lines / moments kinda made me go “:/ bruh why tho” closer to the end of this volume. it’s really only two quotes of her’s that get me, which is “Just because you don't have an idea, doesn't mean we're out of options! Oz hasn't been here to tell us what to do, but we still managed to get this far anyway. We've been in bad situations before, and we don't need an adult to come save us or tell us what to do. We just did it our way! And I say we do it our way. And if you think you can keep up with us "kids"... we'd be happy to have you.” from the episode ‘lost’. i partially understand what she’s saying here, but at the same time, she says this to qrow, who saved her life on multiple occasions, and who wanted to get to atlas without breaking any laws. the way she said it (nothing against lindsay, she is an amazing and very talented voice actress, and she delivers nearly all of rubys lines perfectly, but imagine as if this was a real person we knew), kind of seemed decently rude to me. i understand that she knows they need to get to atlas, because james can help them (ill bring this back up later, trust me), and shes clearly not afraid to break the law that involves james’ military to get to him.

♥ the second thing in volume 6 about ruby that semi-upsets me / makes me go “:/” is in the episode seeing red, when she was talking to cordovin, she said “ We're going to Atlas. Bigger people than you have tried to stop us and failed, but we're supposed to be on the same side! We're supposed to use our power to protect people, but you just use yours to look down on everyone! We didn't want to steal from you. We did it because you gave us no other choice! Now I'm giving you one last chance to stand down and hear us out.” this semi-upsets me mostly because of the line “bigger people than you have tried to stop us and failed”, as well as “we did it because you gave us no other choice.”. the “bigger people than you” gets me because while, yes, in the grand scheme of things within the war against salem, cordovin is a small footnote within it, the only other people who physically tried to stop team rwby was roman (who sadly was eaten by grimm due to his negative emotions with flocks of grimm around, not because of ruby), cinder’s miniature faction (who only partially failed. as much as i hate cinders character, she didnt fully fail in stopping rwby, she just was forced to step back for a while...multiple times.), and tyrian with rnjr. roman didnt inherently fail, he just chose to walk away from the fights hed been having with team rwby in order to devise a new plan to beat them the next time. cinder’s faction only partially failed because ruby managed to get on top of beacon tower in volume 3 with weiss’ help, watching pyrrha pass away thus activating her silver eyes for the first time. the only reason tyrian failed to stop rnjr was because qrow was there to help, and ruby managed to get an opening to slice his tail in half (which. ew that shot looked disgusting). yes, bigger people have tried to stop her and her friends, but they didnt inherently fail, at least not yet. with the line “we did it because you gave no other choice!” mostly just confuses me. while yes, technically cordovin didnt really give any options for the group, it didnt automatically mean that they had to instantly resort to stealing from the military.

♥ now ! onto volume 7, where my salt really starts. because i have a growing icky feeling about her character in volume 7, im going to split this next bit up into three parts. the first part being the first 4 episodes, the second being episodes 5-9 and the third and final being episodes 10-13. buckle up!

♥ episode 1, i really have nothing against ruby. she has the same attitude she did in volume 6 and before, which is a mixture of pure but also wanting to stop salem.

♥ its episode 2 that starts to get me. as i mentioned earlier, ruby knows they have to get to atlas because they know james can help them, and that the lamp is safer if its locked away in the vault, but then she suddenly doesnt trust james. i dont know if this is because the ace-operatives arresting them, but in that situation, james also couldnt have known who the unlicensed huntsmen were. as seen by his and winter’s reactions to the soliders bringing rwby+jnr+oscar & qrow in, they instantly tell them to let the 9 go, because james and winter personally know them and know they would never attack people. so, i dont really know why ruby would stop trusting the idea that james could help them because of that. it may also be the fact that ruby doesnt like the idea that james was planning on telling the people of atlas and mantle about salem (which, honestly? to me? this decision seems fully rash and makes a lot of sense.), but even then, if the students at the vytal festival knew about salem, or the world did, it may have proven to be more beneficial to them, because the more people that knew she existed, the more people who can fight her or the more people that can support those who are fighting her on the front lines, so ruby no longer trusting him over that doesnt make sense to me either. ruby’s sudden distrust of james upsets me quite a bit, because she and the team shed been traveling with had learned ozpin was hiding things from them (my feelings on this is a whole different post, but not necessarily a negative one), and was very upset about that. really, her openly lying to james about not knowing why ozpin had disappeared / locked himself away in oscars mind, as well as the amount of questions jinn has left, really ticks me off. they spent the entirety of volume 6 trying to get to atlas and to james because they needed his help, and once they finally got there, in front of the man himself, she lied. she became the exact same thing that she and her group had openly not liked what so ever, which was a blatant liar. id understand if ruby said that jinn had one more question left, to see how james would react, and tell him of salem’s immortality at a slightly later date, when they got into the rhythm of being around each other and working as a team against salem, but just blatantly lying, without consulting her team prior, to the man who could in all honesty make or break how they fought this war, was plain wrong.

♥ in episode 3, ruby was mostly back to who she had been prior to this entire mess. she explains why theyre hiding stuff from james, albeit in the vaguest way possible (weiss and blake explain the thinking behind it more than she does, honestly). we also see the beginning of a conversation between ruby and oscar about them lying to james. though, with the lying situation and who she was turning into, this is really all for this episode.

♥ in episode 4, the largest scene we see with ruby openly talking about her distrust for james is her conversation with qrow. she says “I'm trying to do what I think is best, but I really can't tell if what's best is what's right. Or if I'm no different from Oz.“, which at this point, shes nothing like ozpin. shes worse. ozpin was hiding the truth about salem due to the trauma connected to her and the fact of her immortality that the ozma line of reincarnations had, which isnt entirely a bad thing. should he have tried to find a way to tell them she was immortal without disclosing his own personal traumas? absolutely, i dont disagree that he hadnt made brash decisions, that should have been made differently, but the sad truth is, is that ozpin chose to hide what he hid, but that one mistake (albeit, a large one) doesnt entirely make him a terrible person. ruby, however? her choice on telling james wasnt brash, it was blatantly impetuous. she barely thought and decided to lie on the spot, unless shed purposefully been internally planning for a long while to lie to him, and had a lie stored up to use should he have asked. that isnt okay, what so ever. the conversation ruby had with qrow eventually delvs into talking about summer, which isnt really important.

♥ when thinking about episodes 5 through 8, nothing particularly stands out to me as ruby blatantly lying. those episodes are mostly team rwby and jnr doing huntsman work, yang making a terrible decision and making blake talk for her, and r/enora turning into something i honestly really hate. episode 9 however, gets me thinking.

♥ in episode 9, the finally tell james that salem cant be killed, but ruby doesnt tell james, oscar does. a quick side note, i really like the fact that crwby had oscar tell james and not ruby, because oscar is the current (and hopefully final) reincarnation of ozma, and its a secret his past lives kept for a millennia. but! back to ruby. within this episode, before she decides they can finally tell james about salem (which, as you can tell, i believe they should have done instantly), ruby is preaching to james about how they can figure it out and that how they should all work together. this pisses me off because shes standing there, hiding one of the largest, if not the largest secret in the show, to a man who has done everything for her and her team. james trusted rwby, especially ruby, with everything he knew, gave them new weapons, clothes, a place to stay, food, etc. all for free because he trusted they wouldnt hide anything from them. another thing that gets me about ruby saying it was finally time to tell james, was that it seemed solely up to her to tell him or to chose when to tell him. it was up to the technically youngest in the group to chose when to tell james about salems immortality (i say technically, because oscar is the current reincarnation of a millennia old line, and i personally have seen him be wiser than ruby in this, weather hes more mature than her or not. physically, yes, oscar is the youngest. mentally? i really dont think hes the youngest in that regard). it doesnt make sense to me as to why everybody was trusting ruby with when to tell james. why wouldnt qrow tell him? qrows known james for years, weather they were close friends (that hug and sincerity tells me that they arent the bickering work partners v3 shaped them up to be) or not. qrow knows he can trust james because simply of how long theyve known each other. weiss knows she can trust james, hes been seen multiple times in the show defending her against jacques, even offering her a place at atlas academy (that bit to me seemed like james offering weiss a way to get away from jacques, because she would need to live at atlas to properly be a student, not the manor), he even said “shes the only one making any sense around here” after weiss got rightfully upset at the woman talking beacon down in volume 4. oscar knows he can trust james, simply because of his connection to ozpin. seeing as ozpin can access oscars memories, and its cannon that their memories merge, its safe to say that oscar was able to see who james used to be pre-fall of beacon, and to see the kind of man he was, as well as making his own judgement based on their first introduction together. so, why would these three, and the rest of the team traveling with ruby not tell james the truth? hell, qrow is a mother fucking spy. im pretty sure he would be able to tear james apart and figure out his intentions pretty easily. why couldnt qrow have just had a one on one conversation with james to make his own final call, as the fully fledged adult of the group? it doesnt make sense to me why they would trust ruby with this extremely important decision what so ever.

♥ episode 10, there really isnt anything i have against ruby. shes fighting to protect mantle and is doing her current job, which is one of the few details i can appreciate, but thats about it.

♥ episode 11 and 12 specifically piss me off, and not just about ruby, about nearly everybody involved. i understand rubys standing in this, saying that they need to stand their ground and fight salem head on, unlike they had in the past, i honestly probably would have said the same thing if i were her too. james had emotionally shut down at this point, i think that this is very clearly evident, especially seeing as the white sparkles in his eyes have dissipated, something we commonly see in the eyes of rwby characters to represent their humanity or emotional status. james is emotionally shut down, the ace-operatives have their own opinions on this situation which is entirely okay and valid, and they happen to be siding with james. blake is trying to take the calmer approach, most likely having noticed that if they lashed out like yang began to, it would go very bad very quick. weiss was in a state of semi-shock, her mind most likely naturally connecting their current situation with trauma and abuse she endured as a child (most prominently ; isolation). but how ruby handled going against james and the fight against the ace-operatives / specifically harriet, was down right wrong. she should not have jumped past james with her semblance to reveal james’ plan, which automatically escalated the situation from bad to even fucking worse. she yet again made a decision for herself and a group of people that can cost them their lives if things dont go their way (which, knowing how this show can be written sometimes? it will always go their way in the end), without thinking. i really dont feel i have to explain how spontaneous her choice on this is, especially because i know multiple people have covered it in better written posts. it essentially boils down to rubys blatantly reckless actions and absolutely moronic choices to do what they did. do not get me started on her line of “then you trained us” or the fact that all the ace-operatives walked into that fight with less aura than team rwby, which already gave them an unfair advantage. i really do not have the patience to fully type out and explain why i hate these two episodes with my entire being, but it mostly boils down to: nobody in this situation is right. not ream rwby, not james, not the ace-ops, very clearly not salem and her lackeys, not qrow choosing to fight 1v1v1, or cinder for a multitude of reasons. the only characters in these episodes i dont have a burning hatred for, be it temporarily or a fire i have a feeling will be burning for a while, is team jnr and oscar. they were trying their best in regards of what was best for everybody, oscar wanting to help james to the best of his ability.

♥ tl;dr : basically? ruby rose in volumes 1 - 6 was actually a really enjoyable character and only had a few moments of “okay but why?” but everybody also has those moments. ruby rose in volume 7 turned into a hypocritical, blatantly rude and whiny little girl who i honestly cant really see as a good character at the moment at all, because of how she acted the entire volume.
