Jon forces himself not to think about it.

“I really don’t think not committing murder is being a stick in the mud,” he says, and the kid snorts and then floats up a couple feet into the air, half-tucking their feet under themself as they do. Jon–frowns, for a second. That looks . . . something about how they’re flying looks a little off, for some reason. Like–different from how it looks when Dad and Aunt Kara do it, and different from how it feels when he does it. 

Then again, the kid’s two seconds into flying, so it’s kind of ridiculous of him to assume they’d do it exactly right straight off the bat. 

“Being a stick in the mud is just, like, a vibe, dude,” the kid informs him matter-of-factly, then floats over towards Jay and peers over his shoulder at the screen, then immediately looks bored by whatever’s on it and looks around the lab instead. They still sound nothing like Jon would expect someone made in a lab to sound, and his gut twists a little. 

But also, whatever’s on that screen already made Damian suggest committing multiple murders, and the kid just looks bored about it, one way or the other, so . . . 

So Jon doesn’t know how he feels about that, exactly. A kid who doesn’t sound like they came from a lab and doesn’t act like they came from a lab, but also doesn’t seem even slightly concerned by whatever made Damian seriously consider committing murder again and did not make Jay dissuade him from said consideration. 

It definitely makes him want to get said kid the hell out of this miserable excuse for a basement, though. 

“Just–you guys figure out the theoretical arson, I’ll figure out what to do about the staff, alright?” he says, sighing again. He can probably toss them all in a transport vehicle or two and then just carry those straight to the police while Damian and Jay watch the kid, he figures. Which isn’t great for a “you should send these people to jail” thing, admittedly, so maybe he should actually call the League and see who’s available to help Jay strip the data for damning evidence while removing any damning DNA or anything like that. Or, like, whatever they need right now. 

“I still consider what to do about the staff a fairly simple equation,” Damian mutters under his breath as the kid turns upside-down in the air behind him and peers at the heavy hood of his cape and the sword slung across his back. It’s a sakabato–a reverse blade katana, he means–and the reason that Jon is under pain of kryptonite not allowed to tell Batman anything about anime, like . . . literally ever. It just looks like a normal katana visually, though, especially when it’s sheathed, so he’s not sure why the kid looks so puzzled about– 

“Why’s your sword sharpened on the wrong side?” the kid asks, frowning in bemusement, and Damian pauses. 

Jon pauses, because Damian’s sakabato sheath is lead-lined. Mostly so he has a quick supply of lead in emergencies these days and less because he doesn’t want Jon to know what’s in it, but it’s definitely still lead-lined. There’s no way the kid could’ve seen through it, so how . . . ? 

“It allows the weapon to be used nonlethally,” Damian replies, watching the kid with a neutral expression that screams “suspicion” on a Bat. “As well as making the decision to slay a foe a more deliberate choice, as the weapon must be wielded backwards to cut.” 

“Doesn’t that mean the sharp side’s always pointing towards you?” the kid says, wrinkling their nose. “And like, isn’t it way harder using it backwards, if you gotta?” 

“Yes,” Damian says. “That is the point. The weapon is a handicap meant to keep me from inflicting a mortal wound any way but deliberately, and also to make that wound harder to inflict even once I choose to.” 

“. . . that is so badass, oh my god,” the kid mutters under their breath. 

Jon is still concerned about how the kid found out about Damian’s sword being a sakabato, since if Cadmus had told him he’d think they’d have at least had theories for why it was a thing, but also is now significantly less optimistic about his chances of ending up the kid’s favorite. 

Yeah, he should’ve absolutely told Batman about anime when he was still young enough to get away with it being an “accidental” slip of the tongue and embarrassed Damian out of ever using the damn thing in the field. Like, ever.

Predator mode

Big Thrasher was not a happy camper after his first encounter with Humanity. There is a certain exponential curve to simple ballistic weapons, whereas shields, which start off way above, progress on a geometric line. E in = E out (mostly, some charge is lost in conversion) vs E=MC^2. He learned that the hard way when three of his toughest cruisers were reduced to space dust by, as he later learned to his horror, a mid-sized transport ship using Human standard issue rail cannons.

Someone smart would move on and avoid Humanity. Big Thrasher isn't a complete idiot, but he is a prideful and narcissistic pirate captain. Thus his ability to make sensible decisions is handicapped severely. Now he has made a most dubious one indeed:

Infiltrate a Human science station and steal all their secrets and use them to get sweet, juicy, delicious revenge!

Finding one was disturbingly easy, there's so many of them. Like, at least one for each star system within eighty light years from Sol, one for each planet within thirty, and then it just gets ridiculous within Sol itself. Oddly enough, despite their size, typically there are no more than ten people aboard, almost all Human, only a few are joint Coalition.

Thinking long and hard (something Big Thrasher is not a fan of) he decided on his target - a lone station on the very outskirts of publicly known Human activity and furthest away from any major Coalition systems.

When his reconstructed fleet arrived behind the local gas giant, the station was sitting in mid orbit of the inner rock planet and was broadcasting something strange on open channels - a melodic chant of sorts:

"..live on a Yellow Submarine! A Yellow Submarine! A Yellow Submari.."

whatever that meant. No matter, Big Thrasher's fleet was moving in on the target, stealth drives on, weapons ready, numbers on their side, element of surprise - the perfect ambush.

Where did the station go?

Before Big Thrasher could register neural activity to try and answer that, it appeared. Behind them. And a small explosion happened moments earlier where it used to be, but the main concern was the station firing its stabilizer thrusters to rotate it at incredible speeds, then a long blade slicing one of his ships in two. Then it disappeared again. And another small explosion.

Once more, it suddenly reappeared behind another one of his ships and did the same thing, but this time used its thrusters to quickly move towards the vessel and impale it on a massive spike. Disappear. Small explosion in its place.

Three. Four. Five. They're losing ships by the second. A literal space station sized target and they can't keep track of it, let alone land a single hit. How is it teleporting? What are those explosions?

WHY IS A SPACE STATION ENGAGING HIS PIRATE SPACE SHIP FLEET IN MELEE COMBAT!

WHY WOULD ANYONE THINK TO DO THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE!?!

WHY IS IT WINNING!?!??!

Big Thrasher once again order an emergency retreat, what remained of his fleet scattered to randomly selected quick hyperjump coordinates, and would regroup in a few weeks time.

hey pia! i love your work, hi!!! im a young writer interested in posting some of my big projects online (not that i really expect them to get any traction lol). i was wondering how you protect your work from plagiarism, or how you deal with people plagiarizing your work. it seems like the internet is kind of the wild west, and that’s only sometimes a good thing :/ im probably a bit too poor to afford any sort of copyright or whatever online authors do, but maybe i can save up? 🙏🙏

Hi anon!

Tbh the only real difference between anon and attaching your name is that I have the choice to reply to you privately if you send an ask under your name (which is sometimes preferrable if the question is personal or really niche!) and that gives me more options. Anon forces me to only answer publicly (which is probably why you're seeing that so much!!), but the downside is that sometimes I have to delete anon messages when I don't want the responses or even the ask/s on my public blog.

Anyway! This is something I'd respond to publicly anyway, because I think this is a fear a lot of new and young writers have. The tl;dr is that copyright is often assumed on the internet, provenance makes it easy to send DMCA takedowns, and letting a fear of piracy stop you from putting your work up is one of the biggest ways I see new authors handicap themselves on the web currently (idk if it's confirmation bias or what but it seems like I see this several times each month atm from specifically new authors), and it's like...not a thing...to be hampering yourself with.

Okay, now for the longer explanation:

The first thing with copyright is that it by and large depends on your country and what you want to do with the story. In Australia, every created work by default has legal copyright protection simply by being created by someone. We don't need to pay to apply for copyright on creative works, we automatically have it and if we can prove provenance (i.e. if we can demonstrate we created it first, with like a document date etc.) we are legally protected.

So I can't answer for the country you're in, anon, but honestly, this is how it works on most of the internet where you're likely to put a project online. AO3 will respect that a work is yours if it gets stolen, if you can prove you came up with it or published it before another person did (literally all you need is a screenshot or a link). In the Properties or Details of most of your documents, the 'date created' is your best friend.

I've had my work stolen quite a few times over the years. It's been stolen the most from AO3 over to Wattpad (it's almost like Wattpad authors don't realise that sometimes we look lol).

In one case, blanket commenting on one of the fics that the original fic was on AO3 *and complete and not stolen* was enough for the author themselves to take it down. x.x Otherwise what you generally do is send a DMCA takedown notice, which almost all creative sites give you access to when reporting theft (your readers cannot do this for you, you must do it.)

Similarly, on AO3, if this happens, you can just report it. The big downside here is that it can take the volunteers there some time - sometimes up to two weeks or more - to get on top of that, so it might feel like nothing at all is happening. Patience is recommended.

Look, theft happens, you can't avoid it. It is a normal part of putting your work out there in the world. And I can't tell you how many new authors I know who kind of shoot themselves in the foot trying to prevent the acts of thieves, while not realising they're hampering themselves in the process.

Pirating is the worst, but so is never putting your work out there, or waiting for a magical protection from piracy. It doesn't exist - and there's a general rule where the more steps you introduce to stop or reduce piracy, the more you actually alienate your general readers - think about how having right-click disabled on a website can feel, for example. It's considered hostile internet architecture that is often very inaccessible.

(There's also a phenomenon where the authors most scared of theft are the ones least likely to encounter it, because their works are new, and they'll need a lot of time to build up readers and engagement in the first place. Most of the time, those who plagiarise don't want to take the works of new/young authors over the works of experienced authors who just won't think to check the sites they're using. By the time you're popular enough for that to be an issue, you'll probably have more confidence in yourself and your ability to handle this. I will say theft of ebooks on sites like Amazon etc. is way more common than theft of original stories and fanfics on AO3, but both happen more often than they used to, that's just...sadly a part of life.)

Also, applying for copyright doesn't mean your work won't get stolen. You'll still have to send DMCA takedowns, and you'll still have to get in contact with websites. A lot of the time websites have a form you can fill out. You still have to do all that labour and pay to register copyright. The filing of copyright is sadly not a magical shield against theft of a creative work. It does make it easier to take someone to court, but that's expensive, often not worth it, and the labour someone can spend chasing down thieves is often better spent amongst the readers who actually give a shit (they're the ones who often notice the theft in the first place when it comes to serials).

If you plan on publishing ebooks, there's software and organisations you can pay a monthly fee to, who just exist to issue takedown notices to piracy sites so you don't have to. I've never used these personally, but from what I've read on Facebook writing groups, they're often not worth it compared to the past, because new sites spring up all the time. But different authors have different experiences with online theft (and different levels of income to combat it) so you'll hear different things on that front.

I'm...pretty zen about it. To me, it's only a worry when I have to send someone a notice about it, which I don't actually have to do all that often. Like, it sucks, but almost always it never happens as much as a new author like yourself fears it will. That doesn't mean you won't hate it when it happens, but you'll live, and your works will keep finding readers, and it won't be what you're likely imagining it will be. It's for most authors, just an occasional giant pain in the ass that we forget about a day or two later sdakfjdsa

What are your thoughts on Willow x Hunter?

I… don't care? They're fine. Cute enough, they have something to bond over, both good to each other and exceptionally boring as a couple. They're almost the same person even except one likes lifting weights and plants while the other likes sci-fi and actually matters to the story.

I do not get the hype I guess is what I'm saying. Not that I'm entirely surprised either. It was finally a ship for Willow that wouldn't get you accused of enabling abuse or evil like Boschlow would (seriously people, what the fuck? I don't like the ship but you all need to learn to breathe.) or just all alone like Willuz or Amillow would. For Hunter it was an even bigger reprieve. The show finally told you "Ship them" with a scene without it either breaking up Lumity or being with the CANONICAL LESBIAN.

Seriously, I will not drop that they tie his character arc, effectively starting it three times over, with three different girls and that would be bad without one of them being AMITY. Because each one really does get that "This could be the start of a friendship or a romance" moment with Hunter and that makes me roll my eyes some.

So yeah, they're the safe option. They're the show approved option with no conflict between them, little contrast and it does a good job of entirely making you forget that while Willow questionably worked out before the show (we actually have nothing to go off of one way or another), Hunter almost certainly did. Because child soldier.

Going into that goes into everything that's a mess about Willow though and how much the writers just do not care about her.

So instead, I actually want to talk about two of the complaints about Huntlow that I just think are… The complaint has a purpose but its target is wrong.

"Huntlow stole time from the show."

I actually severely disagree with this. After all, Hunter was always going to get time and his arc is already rushed, to the point where it doesn't really have a middle. It just starts a few times like mentioned above, then Hollow Mind forces a climax on it and we get a little bit of resolution. That was always going to happen because it was a well established as part of the story.

The only question was with who and… Well, Willow was the choice the writers made and they made it for the sake of Huntlow over narrative. And that's the problem. Your complaint is that Hunter's arc is not good and the unfortunate consequence is that giving the arc more focus would have meant Willow just… Not being in S2. Not in a meaningful way because Willow always has to have an excuse from another character to exist.

And the time Huntlow did take? Effectively none. Because they allow Hunter to just consume Gus' role as closest person to Willow, all the Huntlow moments actually get to flow naturally because they have one personal, one on one conversation and then just know EVERYTHING about each other so the rest of it is just glances, blushes, etc. that take no time and you can just move on from.

It's really fucking bad writing but hey! Part for the course.

I think the argument for it, what little I've seen, is… dumb. And puts way more importance and impact on the two's magical handicaps WAY more than the show literally ever did. And again, the complaint is kind of missing the real problem.

Eda's curse was an AMAZING disability allegory. Unlike so many shows where the dude in a wheelchair is actually in a SUPER WHEELCHAIR SO HE CAN KICK BUTT LIKE ANYONE EL-

No. Eda was genuinely held back by the curse. She didn't let it hold her back though. She instead took her medicine, watched out for the things that may trigger her and the curse, etc. like that. It wasn't a super power but it also didn't stop her from being an exceptional person. From living the life she wanted. As someone struggling with disability myself due to anxiety and depression… That's what I want.

I don't want characters being super powered from it is not. Or being cured. And Eda gets a super saiyan form, Gus takes out a fucking coven head and Flapjack DIES and their sacrifice gives Hunter magic. The cure to his disability (and I know this was not the intention since Hunter was dying from other things but it still matters) is another person's LIFE.

When I can say for myself that my number one goal in life is not to be a burden for others due to my jacked up brain.

So… I would say people are right to say this gets borderline offensive to disabled people but it's REALLY not Huntlow's problem.

Huntlow's problems really are about the show's problems. The problems inherent to these two characters. But, as I've shown in this blog even, for being able to say SO MUCH about the two characters… There's really not a lot to say about the ship. It's there, it's cute, they don't do anything that would make people hate it outside of… I dunno, being straight? At least there is a positive straight couple in the show that isn't dead.

It's a mess but only because the show is a mess. But it's hardly one worth actually throwing a fit over.

Stella seems to often rely on manipulation tactics, brute force and hiring assassins to help her carry out her deeds

What if Stella is actually a squib amongst the Royals, meaning that she isn't as magically powerful as most royals?

What if that's another reason why she hates Stolas and Octavia so much because of Envy, but cannot lash out her residual resentment and jealousy to her brother and parents ( who all have powerful magic )?

Royal women in general are raised to uptake certain royal duties aside from bearing heirs. However, it seems that Stella is only raised to bear royal heirs, and that's it

If that is true, her upbringing may literally strip her of any more autonomy that a royal lady can have - like actually exercising her social power and all that

If Stella is actually a ' squib ' amongst the Royals, that may actually be another reason why she is often treated with pity ( and fear ) even before the divorce - a royal without sufficient powerful magic, to many royals, is a tragic thing indeed

Maybe in once every blue moon in Hell, there will be a squib amongst Hell Royalty, and NONE of the powerful magical parents wanted their child to be born that way

In magical societies, being a ' squib ' ( someone born out of magical parents but somehow has limited or NO magic ) is often seen as a ' handicap ', and is often treated as one

But in Hellaverse Heaven and Hell, non royals and non Overlords in general aren't really expected to have magic per se - only Royals and Overlords are more likely to have magic. So even the magical sinners often have more limited magic than a magic Overlord UNLESS that sinner is in some way related to said Overlord

And how does the ' squib ' concept is done around this universe, one may ask?

Well, similarly with in Harry Potter, magical squibs in Hellaverse Heaven and Hell may sadly often be treated by even their magical peers with scorn and/or pity. Stella's sole saving grace in that predicament ( if her being a ' squib ' is canon ) is that she's born from a high ranking Ducal family who has been long term allies of the Goetias

So that also plays into how Stella doesn't give a jack shit of the Goetian traditions, often relying her parents and/or brother in magical exploits, wanted to stay married to Stolas for his powers, money and status despite abusing him and neglecting Octavia behind closed doors for 17 years ( I bet the neglect also hurt Octavia deeply especially once she began to put two and two together ), is only seems to be interested in partying and drinking, and the one of the only reasons why she was tolerated by many royals for so long is because she was once married to a Goetia ( through her parents' bribing skulduggery ). Once Stolas divorces Stella, Stella came to stop at nothing to completely destroy Stolas and her ex in laws, and HER DAUGHTER, from inside out

If Stella is a ' magical disabled ', then it can parallel to Blitzo's dyslexia. Blitzo had it worse than most people - his bio parents had a messy divorce when he was a pre teen, alienated from his mom and abused by his dad, only had limited contact with his mom but she DIED saving Blitzo and Barbie from the fire when she came to get them herself once and for all ( after painstakingly pulling strings of Imp City domestic lawyers - yeah, Cash bribed some of them before for YEARS ), he killed Cash out of pure resentment, his sister was estranged from him for 15 years because she believed he killed their mom ( it's not true ), and he spent 15 years having to rebuild everything from scratch....and STILL Blitzo works his best to remain hope and NEVER let his dyslexia or anything else define him

So that becomes a case to not let yourself be defined by your sufferings and/or disabilities. Blitzo chose not to do so, but Stella let that fuel her residual resentment, and their outcomes turn out very differently

Huge forces gathered in Canada from the Bering straits that were filled in about 10 mi across and they went 50 miles and took them half the night to do it and then they start traversing this morning early and took them all morning to fill up Canada and they're starting to a mess in Russian territory again the upper Northwest Northeast center about 4000 octillion not the same number as it has been last night and the night before in about 6,000 octane in Mexico and about 10,000 octillion I'm asking around the ships they're building or getting ready and this number will probably double today and my husband did calculation figure this is so many people here... Literally they leave come back looking for a fight you don't answer and it causes one but now they are about 8,000 and each location 05 the number is growing and already it's twice as much as yesterday so good luck to the spazzes I haven't gotten wiped out yet they'll start getting too many over there

Well, asking my opinion, I’ll just say right off I think you’re wrong, lol.

Here’s why.

I never said Misumi was incapable of love, or that he never cared for anyone on a genuine level.  But that ability has little to no bearing on his relationship with Yashiro, and the way in which I regard it.  Misumi may genuinely care for all those people you mentioned, but it doesn’t change the fact that he treats Yashiro more like a possession than a human being.  He tries to control Yashiro completely.  He tries to take away Yashiro’s agency, his ability to make choices for himself, his ability to choose.  That’s not okay.  You can pretty it up as much as you like, and couch it in terms which make it seem more palatable, but at the end of the day, it’s still one human being taking away the free will of another, and that’s abuse.

About everything you said might have happened to Yashiro if Misumi hadn’t intervened, that’s all speculation.  We have no idea where Yashiro might have ended up.  It’s just as likely he could have found success in his life.  He’s highly, HIGHLY intelligent, he’s extremely good looking, he’s very talented.  He just as likely could have had a successful career in many areas of life, if he’d been given the chance.  And that’s really the point.  He wasn’t given a chance.  He wasn’t given a chance because Misumi took that away from him.  You say he might have been “kind of forceful” in the beginning.  Another way to make what Misumi did to Yashiro seem more acceptable.  He drove him into extreme debt, under the threat of destroying Kage’s life, and literally forced him into a corner, cut him off from any ability to make the money to pay that debt back, and thereby forced him into becoming something which has had nothing less than devastating affect on Yashiro’s mental and emotional health.  He tried to kill himself, and that isn’t just to do with the sexual abuse he suffered as a child and adult.  It has also to do with the role he’s been forced to play and maintain as a Yakuza for the past 20 years. 

Misumi has raped Yashiro is the sense that he was in a position of power over Yashiro, and he used that position to make Yashiro into his lover.  Yashiro “agreed” the same way he agreed to become a Yakuza.  He was forced into a corner.  That screams rape to me.  The same way Yashiro “lets” the other members of the Yakuza have rough sex with him.  It’s still sexual abuse.  Yashiro may say yes, but he’s mentally handicapped in his ability to really consent because he’s been so horrifically abused in his life.  These people that are in positions of power over him are taking advantage of him, a person who’s never been allowed to say no, never had any control over what was done to him sexually, never even genuinely known what he wants sexually.  They can see Yashiro is damaged and they take advantage of that to use Yashiro as a “public toilet”.  Misumi is no different.  He uses Yashiro for his own satisfaction.  Yashiro’s well being doesn’t factor in.  If someone really gave a shit about Yashiro’s well being, the way you say Misumi does, they wouldn’t be engaging him and encouraging him in the same sort of self-destructive and highly damaging behavior that every person who’s ever abused him has.  They would be trying to help him.  Genuinely help him.

One last point.  You bring up Amou, and how much Misumi genuinely cares about him.  You’re right on that point.  He does.  And how does Misumi treat Amou?  He tries routinely to get him to leave the Yakuza.  He tried to pay for him to go to college so he could have a good and normal life.  He doesn’t want Amou in that world.  Amou chooses to stay of his own volition.  And Misumi LETS him choose.

The way he treats Yashiro is completely the opposite.  He forced him into the world of the Yakuza, and he does everything in his power to keep him there.  He doesn’t let Yashiro choose.  He manipulates him into remaining and into being beholden.  He holds what he says Yashiro owes him over his head like a guillotine.  If he really wanted to help Yashiro, as you say, then he could have done what he did with Amou.  He could have given him money to go to college.  He could have helped him pay his rent without forcing him into becoming a criminal.  He could have gotten him therapy.  He could have done a million and one things to make Yashiro’s life better.  But instead, he made him become something that is literally antithetical to who Yashiro is inside, literally worsening his mental and emotional health in ways that aren’t even really measurable. 

So, no, I don’t agree with you that Misumi is a good influence or person in Yashiro’s life.  I think he’s been nothing but poison to him.

What do you think of Misumi? I know people usually love him, and I know he helped Yashiro and cares about him, but he gives me the creeps. Maybe I’m the only one in saezuru fandom who feels like this.

That scene where he grabs Yashiro’s butt and think “what a bad son” or something like that, honestly, make my stomach turn. I don’t know why I find him so creepy.

But for a quicker answer, I agree with you that he's a creep. His "care" for Yashiro is very much rooted in possessiveness, and while a lot of people go on and on about how much he helped Yashiro, in my view, he pretty much ruined Yashiro's life beyond what it already was. He literally manipulated him and forced him into becoming a Yakuza, completely against his will. It was just another form of abuse, another adult and authority figure taking advantage of and using Yashiro. He constantly undermines Yashiro's agency, and reinforces Yashiro's negative view of himself by insisting to him that he can't survive out there in regular society as a regular citizen. He knows Yashiro wants to escape the Yakuza, and he routinely tries to undercut those attempts by purposefully playing on Yashiro's fear and insecurities about his own worth as a human being. How anyone could see Misumi as a positive figure or influence in Yashiro's life is beyond me. That's not even including the fact that he's raped Yashiro and sexually abused him, along with so many other members of the Yakuza. So, to anyone who tries to tell me that Misumi is just some lovable father figure to Yashiro and that he "saved him", I say later. It's ridiculous. He's just another abusive person in Yashiro's life, and his possessiveness and the way he treats and regards Yashiro as an object he owns, I think, might end up being a huge obstacle for Yashiro and Doumeki down the road.

Anyway, so yeah, as you can see, you aren't alone, haha. I don't like Misumi at all, to be honest.

Anime Update V2 38

Wolf’s Rain - OK, something happened during production of this show that handicapped it in its second cours, because four episodes straight do little to nothing to advance the plot from where we left off and are largely recap episodes. I shit you not, there are four recap episodes in a row! Like the viewer would find the story that they’d followed for 14 episodes so drab or so complicated that it needs to be retold to them for four episodes! This is notoriously why the show would later recieve four special episodes following its “ending” in Episode 26 to compensate for the four episodes that got wasted.

Hunter x Hunter - The OP animation and ED credits have changed now that we’re finally in new territory with the Greed Island arc. It’s unfortunately another point where Kurapika and Leorio have to be Put On A Bus again, but we’re going to meet some new characters, Hisoka will play a big part again, and even the Phantom Troupe is still around in the city for some minor parts here and there! Gon and Killua also continue to have great interactions, and at one point a call is made to their Nen sensei from Heaven’s Arena. A literal call-back!

Fruits Basket - The Sohma family summer getaway arc started, and between another sighting of Rin Sohma as she visits Shigure, Hiro struggling again with his jealousy at Kisa’s closeness to Tohru, Tohru hurting herself inside by simply questioning whether or not she needs to cling to her dead mother’s memory as tightly as she does, and Akito making plans with Shigure to intrude on everyone’s fun, we’re not exactly in an entirely bright and sunny mood. But the core of this episode was Yuki realizing he still hasn’t told Tohru the whole story regarding all the trauma Akito inflicted on him and the fact that he was the boy who gave her the cap. It can’t be avoided forever, Yuki.

Date A Live S4 - Finally back to the next season of Date A Live, and OK, what has happened to the animation for this anime? It’s taken some downgrades before, but now it just looks completely different, with the models being stylized differently and sometimes stiff, so it could get distracting even when the events of the episode were mostly engaging enough, as Shido has now met and is dating the second spirit, a young author named Nia who might just be as much of a weirdo as Tohka. There had to be some obstacle keeping Shido from sealing her powers so easily and it dropped at the very last minute of the episode - Nia can only fall in love with fictional 2D guys!

Fate Zero - The final battle of Saber VS Lancer did NOT play out in any way I’d expected it to, especially since on the sidelines we got Kiritsugu brutalizing poor Nuada and threatening to kill her unless Kayneth signs a Geass scroll that forces Lancer to skewer himself to death and ensures that Kiritsugu brings no harm to Kayneth and Nuada. Exact Words, because Kiritsugu’s sniper assistant picks them both off immediately afterwards. I was dumbstruck when I saw this. What an evil BASTARD. While he went on to make unfortunately true points about humankind, human nature, and the causes and prices of conflict that he intends to end, I’m far more on Saber’s side here and think Kiritsugu is only bringing about more ruin, including to himself. And then it just ends with Irisveil collapsing! Goddammit!

Re:ZERO - Started this series with its full hour premiere. The only issue I took is that the way Subaru finds himself in another world was WEAK. But after that’s out of the way, things pick up as he teams up with Emilia and Puck in a search for Felt, the thief who stole Emilia’s very important insignia. The fantasy world so far doesn’t seem like anything too spectacular or original, but what held my attention is that I immediately took a liking to these characters. Even the thief is super lovable and I want to see more of her. I also enjoy watching Subaru constantly get knocked down at so many points where he’s thinking like a gamer or your average entitled Isekai protagonist who believes he knows the way things around here are “supposed” to work only to have reality refuse to go that way. And the twist about how Subaru is also a time looper now, and the fact that whenever he resets it brings about as many consequences as it undoes. So good.

Symphogear G - This premiere caught me off guard and threw me some curveballs, with Hibiki and Chris now working in a military style setting against more dangerous and unstable Noise while Tsubasa is touring as a music idol to keep people’s spirits up. While it’s pretty easy to guess that the “Dr. Ver” character will end up being a villain, it was legit surprising to see that Tsubasa’s pink haired co-singer and seemingly friendly rival Maria Cadenzavna Eve (what a name!) turn out to be a villain too, one belonging to a terrorist organization named after Finé with direct control over the Noise and is terrorizing the whole concert hall with them! One downside is that Miku and her friends are totally apart from Hibiki and the rest, almost as though Miku and Hibiki didn’t need to have reunited at the end of last time!

MAR - Did you forget I had this one on here a while back? Well, it’s finally returned with the second season, and a new round in the War Games set at an appropriately icy and snowy battleground. The first match ended up being Alviss VS Mr. Hook, which wasn’t too difficult for Alviss to win but then we got Rapunzel killing Hook for his loss, sending him sinking into the frozen water. The noble Mr. Hook deserved way better than that, and I can hardly stand Rapunzel and her equally vile and creepy brother Gillom. They have zero humanity.

AMC: Yuki Yuna Is A Hero - So there are depressing episodes of anime and then there are cruel, soul-torturing episodes of anime for maximum depression, misery and tears, and this falls into the latter category. Seiji Kishi delivered with the drama in a very Angel Beats!-esque way, but for real, lighten up Yukki Yuna! This show is stronger when it’s embracing the cheese and silliness of what Kishi can do with the Hero Club’s double life and letting the girls play off each other. When it’s trying too hard to be a dark and edgy Madoka clone, it generally doesn’t impress me. The pathos didn’t even fully reach me since when watching it dubbed, there were no subtitles to tell me what Itsuki’s notes were even saying, so I couldn’t feel with Fuu felt.

AND

Akiba Maid Wars - They’re cafe maids at a pig-themed maid cafe who also live a dark secret underworld life and are players in a crime drama. This is real and it is played totally straight. Japan be crazy.

Azure Moon - Final

Of all the routes I'm finishing, this one is by far the hardest to say goodbye too. Which is why I saved it for last. Also, Three Hopes and the DLC, so it's not really over yet!

More in-depth reviews and etc coming later. Below is just my thoughts while I played the last two chapters of AM.

Ok, so this is different from the other routes. I had another week AND I picked who I married before any cut scenes.

Also different in that Byleth, here at least, is allowed to say something negative about Edelgard. A breath of fresh air.

I will get to still pick who I marry, right? I didn't miss that. Because by God if I missed that for Dimitri . . .

It's been a while Edelgard.

I still can't believe Dimitri really went and is trying to solve this with diplomacy and understanding. We stan a King, guys.

Holy, shit, yes, Dimitri, preach "there had to be a way to change things in your territory without so many senseless casualties."

Edelgard - War leads to the least amount of casualties, duh. I mean, who wouldn't agree. It's not like war is literally the worst.

Did she seriously just say - ah, yes, the least bloody way to fix the Empire is conquering everyone else and war.

I get that her argument is that the longer she didn't put everyone under her control, the more people would've died, so her war killed less in the long run. Someone doesn't know much about war.

Edelgard really out here playing God, hunh.

Dimitri ain't wrong that Edelgard is a bit too gung-ho about her war. And, of course, she's deaf to the victims. If it's anything like CF, there isn't any acknowledgement of any victims. They might as well not exist except to make Edelgard the main victim of the war.

"You cannot change the cycle of the strong dominating the weak with a method like that."

Preach, Dimitri.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good "conqueror the world for it's own good" character, but damn it's nice to see the hypocrisy pointed out. Those characters are only ever interesting and good if there's a counterpoint and not CF's sanctification of Edelgard.

I think Edelgard really means to destroy the bad systems. I think she honestly believes she's the only one who can make those changes. I also think she's dumb as a box of rocks if she doesn't realize her "boostraps" like mentality isn't just going to increase her divide, and that the world she's creating will have just as many victims and not be conducive to a true post-war recovery.

Holy shit, Edelgard sounds like Fox News. "If after all of this you believe the weak will still be weak, that is only because they are too used to relying on others instead of on themselves."

That really is truly only two steps away from "welfare queens" and the poor are poor because they "don't work hard enough" and the rich are rich because "they just work that much harder."

"But you cannot force that belief onto others." Is really the crux of my issue with Edelgard's plan.

"There are those who cannot live without their faith . . . and those who cannot go one once they have lost their reason for living." - It's too bad he didn't just straight-up say - "What about mental illness, Edelgard? Or physical handicaps? Or people born uber poor? What are they supposed to do in your world?"

I'm betting Edelgard fans hate this conversation lol. It's the only time in the whole game so far that challenges Edelgard's convictions and points out all the problems with it.

"It is the path of the strong and could only benefit the strong." - 100% true.

Honestly, the BEST combination would be Edelgard + Dimitri, where she's busting big bad systems up, and he's there to make sure the new government takes care of its people rather than uses them.

I don't think Edelgard understands the importance of faith to a lot of people. It's not really about "the goddess" answering your problems. Most religions are very specific that they can't treat prayer/meditation/etc as a wish machine. It's more about finding comfort in the idea that there's a system to this universe, that there's someone or something out there dictating what's right and wrong, that there's something after death. It's not really about expecting everything you pray for to be answered the way you want, but about finding some way to accept that "everything happens for a reason" to help you get through rough things. That, if you're suffering, that there's a larger point to it all.

Interesting how she claims she's fighting for the silent and weak too. I don't see how though, since she expects them to magically not be weak anymore.

"The ones who can truly change the way of the world are not the rulers, but the people." - I firmly 100% believe the only stable change is one that's wanted by the majority and is often generational.

"Pushing your own sense of justice and your own ideals onto even one other person is nothing more than self-righteousness." - Again, 100% agree with Dimitri here.

Edelgard's not wrong either that for things to change, someone has to take action. But why THAT action?

It's really too bad there's no ending where these two meld their ideals together. But I'm betting Edelgard isn't willing to work with anyone else (unlike Rhea, Claude, and Dimitri who have all worked together in one route or another).

Why is Edelgard talking about high borns vs the poor??? Dimitri was just talking about people in general. And didn't he live on the run for like 5 years? Edelgard's way more removed from the poor than he is.

Like, why is she still going to fight him? Why not just work WITH him?

Ingrid is such a queen - no one can touch her + mages can't hurt her anyways. She's like Dedue, but for mages.

"War is for the wealthy. We don't even have enough to eat." - when the random enemy thief's line about war hits harder than all of CF.

Petra was NOT easy to kill. All the fast ones (Dimitri, Petra, Catherine, pegasus knights, assassins) are the hardest to kill in this game.

Dimitri can one-shot Hubert. And by that I don't mean "single turn" I mean single hit.

Dimitri gave Hubert a chance to surrender :(

Why did Hubert say Dimitri had a "silver tongue?"

Man, Dimitri went into overkill with a crit. Poor Hubert.

POST BATTLE & BATTLE 2

See it's lines like this "there is to be no needless killing or pillaging, understand?" That made me wonder if one route mentions that sentiment more than another or if there's a different vibe or what not.

See, THIS is what was missing from CF. A place where the whole trope stands around and says their lines, even if they don't contribute much, it just feels so epic, you know?

I just love this group all so much: Dedue (swearing to Dimitri), Annette (being so chiper), Ingrid (being the badass knight she is), Mercie (praying for everyone), Ashe (awww, he's so proud to be a citizens of Faerghus in AM and CF, I think I'm over his stunt in VW and SS now. I love you), Sylvain (encouraging everyone, and I don't think I've mentioned this much but he's so fucking hot),

FELIX 😭 supporting Dimitri 😭😭 He even called him a "boar" but it's not an insult anymore 😭😭😭

He did a critical and took her out in one blow.

And we're done! Only 11 turns. Lol, Everyone just really loves their criticals in the Blue Lions. I also think those dudes retreating helped.

How did I end up adding Sylvix and Dimileth into my "I legitimately ship it now" in the last few chapters of different routes.

And his picture isn't half bad. Poor Edelgard, though, WTF was that? Rhea, Claude, and Dimitri all looked fine.

OMG it's almost done, now just for the MVP list and paired endings.

Lots of trading around at first, then Dimitri takes over. So far it's been: Dimitri, Ingrid, Sylvain, Felix, Byleth, and Dedue who all got MVP at least a few times. With Dimitri getting it the most by far. Towards the end, it was Felix only once, rest of the time Dimitri.

OK, paired endings, like for the others, not going to say much about ones I've gotten before.

So ones that were basically the same: Anna solo, Cyril solo, Alois solo, Manuela solo, Hanneman solo, Flayn solo, Lorenz Solo,

Shamir solo, she becomes a Robin Hood, I like it lol.

Catherine and Rhea became lesbians together. 😭😭 Good for them. Catherine finally scored.

Linhardt Solo - so he did research for the rest of his life. It suites him.

Gilbert Solo - Dimitri has a baby 😭😭😭 And he managed to stay and serve the realm this time. Good for him.

Ferdinand and Dorothea - They had babies too 😭😭 So cute. And Ferdinand went on to be a good leader, and Dorothea got the power to help the common folk. Not a bad ending.

Ashe and Annette - That's a cute couple, not gonna lie. But again, it's alllll about the dude, though at least here Annette gets to help the realm and write a book.

Ingrid and Seteth - Aw yeah, she became a knight. Good for her. So they both helped out Fodlan (Faerghus and the Church) and married (I mean, they did) much later on. I'm glad Seteth found someone. And way to go Ingrid for getting equal billing in a paired ending, if not the ending being mostly her story and how Seteth was also there.

Does this mean Felix and Sylvain got together - AGAIN? And Mercedes and Dedue (pleaseohpleaseohplease)?

"Hashirama when did I go wrong ?" 1/2 : Dominate your inner demon

Madara analysis

Since Hashirama is not available, let me put on my therapist coat even if I'm just supposed to be your lawyer.

Madara Uchiha is a difficult character to picture without his context. Even when I read AU fanfiction with him, it's almost impossible to escape his past as a child soldier and warlord. He is literally the product of his time. The loss of every single members of his family was not something he could control (even if he falsely thought so) Many people would had gone berserk if they loose everything dear to them. I'll go berserk too. The difference with us and him, he got the willpower to set ablaze everything in his path. But let's try to decontextualise him (because yeah I got nothing else to do that torturing my mind!) and looking for some of his own mistakes. Let's go !

As often in Kishimoto's work a character's goal is giving to us in their childhood.

For Naruto it was about being Hokage and recognize by all. How ? By working hard while you are a loser and making friends while everyone despise you.

Hashirama wanted to reach peace. How? being strong enough to be heard while he lacks authority and leadership and build a village for children with a bunch of people hating each other for generations.

In Madara's case, reaching peace and protect his family/clan how? Being the strongest and find a way to read people's guts.

And there is his first mistake in my opinion. He reached his greatest potential alone, thanks to his hard work and his natural genius talent. But totally gave up the second part: How to read people's guts, in other words how to trust people.

At first like everyone I've found his inability to pee in front of people quite hilarious. But after a while I was wondering if this detail was not hiding a phobia resulting from a trauma. His conscience overcompensate his weakness by being hyper-vigilante. It's a defence mechanism which serve him well in combat.He is the only Uchiha having a two-faced susanoo, or limbo clones who were invisible and watched his back in this dimension and others. But stress my words he never confronted his weakness, he used it as a tool. And the older he got the heavier his weakness was obvious for those who can see * wink wink Black Zetsu *

Considering the Warring state era, his behaviour might be a PTSD. What did cause the trauma could be anything : stress of sudden attack as a toddler, loosing someone dear in his back, being stab in his back, being betrayed by an other uchiha. Being attack while peeing 🤔? We can only guess.

Time passing this « fear of having someone behind his back » leads to be a social handicap as an adult and as a ninja.

He could not trust anyone expect his brother and only after years of hesitation Hashirama. Ok so... he had one friend in 90 years of life time ?

He could not properly collaborate with other clans, we saw Senjus having strong relationship with Uzumaki clan to the point of marriage, the strongest alliance possible when you fuse two bloodlines. I'm not an Hashirama stan but I admit that he is a great politician. You know what always baffled me? The scene where Madara brought Hashirama to the Uchiha's tablet and explained that opposite working together can give great happiness. I don't know if it's because I'm a woman but I thought immediately about marrying a little senju, inbreed her with 5 to 6 babies. With a bit of chance one will get mokuton or sharingan or rinnegan. Safe bet. Then he rises his offspring who will naturally follow his lead and perpetuate his ambition after him. You can tell he didn't have a single female friends to advise him, and that Konoha didn't offer matrimonial service.

He could not learn from other people, what he got was always by force or stealing information. Hashirama most likely further his knowledges in fuinjutsu from his wife Mito and learned Sage mode with an unknown master outside of the Senju clan.

He couldn't not see other vision that what he experienced himself.

He couldn't see his own limitations, and his arrogance blinded his judgement. Ironic for the most powerful sharingan possessor !

He hardened his heart because he never acknowledged his needs for emotional balance. Family, friendship, in his case, is fundamental to his mental stability and a place where he can lower his warlord's mask, being vulnerable, being just human.

Lost his ability to social interaction. To start with, it was not fabulous but after 60 years in a cave he was really impossible to deal with. How come even Obito who was so kind and helpful to elders still ended up to be suspicious to him while it was so easy to manipulate a child to be your most loyal ally. He saved his life and share the same clan heritage. Obito should have been an easy and docile follower if only he wasn't so blunt. But he failed because mistrust attracts mistrust.

In contrast, Naruto fought and dominated his own demon (Kurama) and even befriend him. It was scary, painful and long but it was worth it. Madara who once controlled and summoned Kyuubi as his personal little pet, was surprised when he saw what Naruto can do when cooperating with Kurama (sharing chakra and protecting a whole army) while himself back in the days was never able to do such thing and wouldn't even think about it because you know... he was fighting alone ! An other time during the war he couldn't believe the fives nations can work together because he never believed in collaboration. He even couldn't believe that Konoha foundation could attract more clans because he is so self-centered to his own experience.

Abortion is a difficult decision that most women wouldn't want to make for themselves. But like, pro-life people don't get it either. So many people get children hoping that they end up "normal", and get so unreasonably devastated when they aren't. But like, children are hard work and disabled children are harder. Many parents are alone when dealing with their disabled children, some facing the reality that their children is never going to be independent. It's expensive and many people often act like there's no value to these people.

It's wrong, it's horrible, it sickens me to my core, but like this is what happens when society severely undervalues neurodivergent people. You really honestly think a women who's feels like abortion is the only way for her, has a support network that can help raise her disabled child? I'm sorry, but no she often doesn't.

Adoption needs to be talked about more, because you as a birth mother can choose your parents. But like, most women don't know that and most pro-life say they want more people to give their babies up for adoption if they honestly can't take care of them, but irl, y'all shame and bully women who do. Many women often feel like adoption isn't an option and it's either take care of a child you never wanted and will grow to resent the child, or go through a very painful and isolating surgery.

no shame guys how many of y'all used to imagine you were a musician or in a band and would go on tours with your other favourite artists?? NO SHAME GUYS I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE. i used to see so many fanfics of this on wattpad and—does anyone remember the imagines on youtube? literally all the old 1D and 5SOS fics. even I'm still embarrassed by it at this point but it's still an interesting idea. shifting is literally a self-insert of sorts, and it's a way for you to finally live out those Y/N dreams.

you can also be a movie star, a youtuber, an author, a comedian, a vet, a scientist, an athlete, a fireman, a technician, a ballerina, a voice actor, a princess, and so much more. it's not even limited to entertainment purposes, anymore. think of all the dream jobs you've always wanted as a kid. everyone would tell us we can't be everything that we dreamed to be, but with shifting, the possibilities are limitless. and you know what? if i can't achieve my dreams here then i might as well take comfort in the fact that I'm well-off in another life. call me desperate, but I'll take what i can get.

It's Disability Awareness Month or for some of us it is every day as usual. So here's some friendly tips that abled people need to learn but you probably never even thought about.

- The blue or yellow lines next to accessible parking spaces (i.e. "handicap" spots) are necessary for mobility aid users (crutches, canes, wheelchairs, etc.) to get out of their cars. Some have wheelchair vans where the ramp needs to go down and that uses up the whole space. Others need to makes use they can open their door all the way and have plenty of space to move their aids in the necessary directions or hold onto an open car door. Anyone who parks in those lines, leaves carts in those lines, or leaves electric mobility carts in those lines are being ableist. Yes, even if they are disabled too. Please leave those lines free so disabled people can exist in the world.

-Are you on a walk? Is there a wheelchair user coming your way and they don't seem to be moving out of the way and/or not staying on the right side of the pavement? If you can, please allow the wheelchair user to continue as they are. More than likely, a wheelchair user will be using the safest part of the pavement for them. Things like pot holes, dips, and even rocks, stones, or gravel can all cause a wheelchair user to "trip" which leads to either faceplanting out of the wheelchair or falling backwards out of a wheelchair. You may not see it, but I promise you the wheelchair user does.

-If you see someone fall out of their wheelchair do not immediately help them by pulling them up. Yes, I know you want to help and that is really decent of you. You just need to remember to ask first since many wheelchair users have chronic pain, and others have brittle bones or loose joints. Pulling someone up may increase the harm done to their body. If you are given the OK from the disabled person to help them, then make sure you listen and do exactly what they ask for. If they say no and don't want your help, please please listen to them and don't make a big deal out of it or force the issue.

-I know you want to hold doors open and yes, that is usually a totally okay thing to do! However, it is important that you hold open the door from the outside. When you hold the door open from the inside you end up blocking the doorway. Many disabled people especially those with mobility aids will take up more room than an able bodied person. It is also VERY important that of someone already has their hand on a door and is opening it that you DO NOT take the door from them. You can very easily harm someone by ripping the door out of their hands. Also, if a disabled person says they got the door and you grab it for them anyway, don't expect a thank you. Plenty of disabled people are exhausted at abled people thinking they can't do something, so when you do it anyway and make a big deal out of needing thanks, some of us are bound to get a wee bit cranky.

Don't treat your help as "your good deed for the day" and especially DONT say it. I know it's well meaning and helping people is literally confirmed to make yourself feel better. It ends up coming across as condescending and rude. Disabled people dont exist to make abled people feel better about themselves

-So you think a disabled person is an inspiration? I know you mean well and its meant as a compliment. What a lot of people dont realize is that calling someone an inpsiration for going about their day is actually really offensive. Think about how if you did something like go to the bathroom and you came out of the stall and someone said "you're so inspiring!" and all you did was take a shit? You'd be pretty disturbed.

-Speaking of bathrooms, please remember that disabled people *need* the accessible stall. The general rule is that if it's one of two stalls, and that's your only option, then sure go ahead. However if there are multiple open stalls and one accessible stall? Please leave the accessible one free (do not accost people who you think might not be disabled for using it, invisible disabilities are a thing). Don't use the accessible stall for changing, for your shopping cart, or for anything you're physically capable of leaving outside a regular stall. And if you need to use the stall especially if its like 1 of 2, then try to use it as quickly as possible.

- Being at the height of wheelchair users. Many diagrams that were made by abled folk say you should kneel down to a wheelchair user to talk to them. MANY wheelchair users find this supremely uncomfortable and condescending. A much better idea would be to bring up a chair or go somewhere where you can sit down with them if its a long conversation. If its a short conversation or there's nowhere for you to sit, ASK if they would like you to kneel down or if you should stay standing. Also, feel free to remind wheelchair users if you need to sit. Some of us (myself especially lol) forget that people with good working legs still get tired from standing too long.

-Always ask before helping a disabled person even if they are visibly struggling. Sometimes disabled people are still learning what they can and can't do and need to try on their own first. Some may look like they're struggling but it may just be the way their body works best. It is definitely okay to ask most of the time. All you have to do is listen to the answer.

-Dont approach disabled folk at night to offer help. Dont approach a disabled person who is already being helped by the person with them. Dont ask a disabled person who drove themselves somewhere if they need help in or out of the car. This is because if they got in the car, they knew they could get themselves out of the car. And if they have a wheelchair, there are very specific ways for the wheelchair to break down and go into the car that a non wheelchair user will have NO idea how to do so.

Please don't be upset and/or cause a scene if a disabled person denied your help but allowed it from someone else. There are multiple reasons you could have been denied your chance to help. It could be that the disabled person is with their friends or family and would prefer their help. The other person could be their aide (many aides dont need to have a uniform or scrubs and are often times hired friends or family). The disabled person may not have needed help with one thing but needed help for something else. And lastly, its really up to the disabled person who they accept help from.

-If a disabled person calls you (an able bodied person) out for using an accessible parking spot, PLEASE don't fight with them. Apologize, leave the spot, and don't do it again (and don't pull back in when their back is turned!). It doesn't need to be a huge fight.

-Dont touch or move a disabled person without their permission. Touch includes things like head pats, shoulder pats, hugs, arm rubbing, etc.

Overall, respect disabled people. Ask before helping and listen to the answer even if the answer is no.

ok so below the cut is me addressing my feelings about the “drama” in the fandom. i would just like to mention that i am hesitant to post this out of fear of receiving backlash and being attacked/harassed by those who disagree. if you are as mature as you believe yourself to be, then please act as such and try to have a healthy discussion instead of just jumping on me for speaking up.

i honestly don't have words for what’s happening in the fandom. i joined this fandom out of love for an amazing show, and was pleased to find a community of like-minded people who enjoy it just as much as i do. but i was not expecting this toxic element. i agree with the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and they are free to ship whatever they want to. usually, i wouldn't give a fuck. but i do care when the ships are morally wrong. to reiterate, this is NOT a matter of opinion, this is a matter of MORALITY, which if someone wants to go ahead and say is subjective, at the end of the day, there are basic definitions of what is morally right and wrong. these ships are gababel and esteomi. (i am against cedfia too, however i’m not in the sofia the first fandom. only the eoa fandom so this is primarily about these ships.) i do not understand how one can comfortably ship these ships. at the beginning of the show, naomi is 15 and esteban is in his mid 50s. i don’t get how so many people don’t see the issue with that??? and at the beginning of the show, isabel is 10 and gabe is 18. again, a big issue. there is only one context in which esteban and naomi would morally work, if naomi was around pre-amulet. so by the time elena is freed, naomi is a similar age to esteban. but she’s not. regarding gababel, i don’t see how aging up isabel makes it any more acceptable. gabe has known isa since she was 10, i don’t think he’s just gonna immediately get feelings for her when she turns 18. that just sounds like a bunch of bs. other excuses for these ships are also a bunch of bs. dang, i didn’t know that not shipping gababel was because i’m not imaginative enough to think about the future of that ship. at least i'm imaginative enough to see that it's not even worth imagining because why would anyone even want to picture it? 

treating people with kindness and living by the golden rule means a lot to me. that people should be nice to each other, no matter if their beliefs clash or not. so why is it that when a young minor calls out these morally wrong ships, they are targeted? once again, this is a young MINOR. A CHILD. and not to mention, they were targeted by a bunch of adults. this child has called out something that’s morally wrong and adults came for them. i feel like these adults were aware that they are a child, but only to a certain point. they used the fact that they are a child to prove the point that they don’t know what bullying is, or that you were once in their shoes, an opinionated teenager. didn't know having an opinion was exclusive to teenagers, but i digress. however, a lot of you failed to recall that this is an actual child. not to mention, a handicapped child who has expressed time and time again how negative criticism affects them. at the end of the day, this context shouldn't even matter, because no one should be treated like that anyway. this child was bullied. this child felt invalidated and hurt. i don’t care what you think the definition of bullying is. they were bullied. imagine you’re in their place. a young (at the time 14 year old) who is receiving replies from  several adults telling them that they are wrong about pedophilia. you wouldn’t feel so nice either. their mental health went down because of this. you all failed to realize that this is a child, and that you need to be respectful to them. they are an equal member of the fandom, and they deserve several apologies. 

going along with this whole dialogue of age, i would like to point out that your age has nothing to do with your level of maturity, understanding, or comprehensibility of matters. just because someone is younger than you doesn't mean that automatically you are more correct or have the upper hand or whatever it may be simply due to your age. sure you may have more life experience, but what about your level of decency? empathy? awareness? sense of morality? these matter just as much, if not more. you can be 15 and wise and be 80 and be less knowledgeable. your actions and character display these things, not your age.

also with the whole “woke/woke teenager” thing. it's funny how it was said that buzzwords are being thrown around yet here we are, throwing this word around too. anyways, being “woke” is about being aware, having an open mind, and being able to not only recognize when something/someone is wrong, but being able to shed light on it and call it out. if you think i’m “woke” for calling out your pedophilic fantasies (which yes it is pedophilic i don’t think i need to explain to adults how that is so; and no, just because you aGe tHEm uP in yOuR hEad doesn't make it okay) then i’m damn proud to call out your shit. and i'll be damned if one of my friends or i get scrutinized for standing up and doing the right thing. no one deserves to get attacked for this, especially not with superficial strawman arguments that go after the person themselves rather than their “argument”/point of view. you can do all the name calling you want to, that does nothing to enhance your argument. all it does is shine a bright light on your character. and thank you for that, so we can see what kind of people we have in this community. it’s not about being sensitive or “woke” or whatever useless argument you want to use to steer away from the fact that you are MORALLY WRONG. i would understand if this discussion was about something lighter but this is so much deeper. this is not about “not being able to imagine/not being creative enough to imagine” i mean seriously? is that the argument here? that would be laughable if it wasn't as sad. what a substanceless argument that shows there is no viable justification for these ships. and it is not just about these pedophilic ships; it's also about how people are getting treated, specifically how adults on a power trip are attacking younger members of the fandom (wrongfully) with their petty posse of people. i mean seriously? can none of you (just a one on one not one of us versus your gang) have a decent conversation without needing your other friends to attack along with you? just childish honestly. and i wouldn't even say that because children aren't low enough to act like that. they are aware enough of others' feelings and know how to solve problems without hurting each other.

the fact that this is being deemed as “policing” and “telling the fandom at large what to do” is just ridiculous. first of all, no one is forcing our stances down people’s throats. second of all, who said you suck? you said it, not me. third of all, think of it like this. we have laws, yes? sure, the laws are written and yet some people still choose to break them. the law is enforced but yet still people have the option to follow it or not (even though they should follow it, duh). now say someone is breaking the law. would law enforcement be wrong to call them out on it? would they be wrong for charging them? no, because your actions have consequences. someone can “believe” they were not breaking the law but if their “belief” is objectively illegal and morally wrong, then by all means they should be called out on it. just because *you* personally don't find you shipping a 10 year old with an 18 year old (a fifth grader and high school senior for context) doesn't mean it's not problematic. and it doesn't matter if you're aging them up, it's still weird like why? it’s like you’re trying to justify pedophilia? and then you have the nerve to collectively attack ONE younger person who called out your foolery? this analogy was not to make it seem like we are the police of the fandom and are high and mighty or whatever, but simply to try and get across the point that just because *you* think it's not wrong, does not absolve you of it actually just being wrong. 

the way this matter has been addressed (and i wouldn't even say that because it is more like a one sided conversation/scolding where the opposite side of the discourse is either silenced because of fear or silenced after being attacked) has been absolutely petty, snarky, condescending, and catty; you really give yourself a sense of superiority over people because you are older and therefore more mature and more able to understand things on a deeper level? then understand this. handle this discussion in a more mature way. allow others who disagree with you to at least come to the table and share their feelings and see from their perspective. do not immediately pounce on them with your similarly-aged clique like this is some early 2000’s high school movie. it's funny because you are invalidating us by belittling us as just “high schoolers”, but if anything you guys are the ones acting like what you are projecting on us. literally bullying children. how depraved do you have to be to sit here and behave like this with actual children. it's funny because some of you actually have children and here you are, being a keyboard warrior for a pedophilic ship. is that the hill you are choosing to die on? at least try to open your eyes and see why we are addressing this. to your point, yes, you are adults. i would also like to mention that there is a big difference between notps and morally wrong ships. notps are ships that you do not ship because that’s just not what you like. an example of that for me is elenaomi. i don’t ship them like that, that’s one of my notps, and that’s okay. however when there are ships like esteomi and gababel, those are more than notps. those are morally wrong ships because they are pedophilic. i am not gonna call these my nOtPs; these are HELL NOTPS.

some of you are also big hypocrites. you say to scroll on, and to ignore it if you don’t like it. yet you feel the need to respond to things you don’t agree with. yes, it’s your blog, but if you’re not going to practice what you preach then, what’s the point? this reminds of the whole dialogue surrounding “if you don't like it here (your country), then leave.” this phrase is used to invalidate people who call out issues within their country, whether it be the societal structure as a whole, or the government etc. it's like you are only patriotic if you have 0 complaints and love everything about your country. you don't care if things are ruined; it's your country so you love it. in my eyes, true patriotism is when you are able to recognize and not be in denial about issues in your country; you are willing to not only acknowledge them as a problem, but are actively trying to address and fix it. similarly, i believe that you shouldn't have to just scroll on or leave the community because you are uncomfortable because of a genuine problem. why should we just be silent and accept what's going on? us scrolling on while recognizing the problem and not saying anything, letting it thrive, is being complicit. it's like being a bystander, and we are not going to do that. we want this community to be a great place for all of us to get along because of our shared interest of eoa. but that doesn't mean that these things should be excused or ignored. if you are having an issue with people calling this out, if the shoe fits, that's your problem, and moreover, you are part of the problem. i am not calling out specific names in this, so if you have an issue with it, then….hate to break it to you.

i understand that i’m usually a lot nicer on my page. however, i feel that i have been silent for too long. but i’m not a hypocrite and i know that i’m right. how people respond to this just reflects their character more than mine. i am a 13 year old child, and i am hesitant to discuss this because you guys did not hold back at a 14 now 15 year old. that is not okay, especially when this is supposed to be a loving community about a show that is aimed at children. that was all. please have some empathy, understanding, and especially respect.
