Just found out there are people who got really invested in Balatro and basically unlocked everything and I realized.... I don't get it? I did not play a lot of Balatro, it was like a fidget toy to me. I saw what it could do, I appreciated the design and the novelty, and I moved on to other things basically immediately. Steam says I have 27 hours on Balatro, which I would say is pretty decent, not small by any means, but it surely wasn't enough to unlock much, and I haven't touched it once since the month it came out. So now I'm wondering what it was missing that could've gotten me more invested... I tend to hop off roguelikes once I beat them once. Slay the Spire, I beat that like three times. I never went back for the endless mode in Inscryption. The big standout here is Hades, which motivated me to keep going with promises of lore reveals, story events and character dialogue. But once I had gotten every achievement there, I saw no reason to keep playing. So the question remains. Why couldn't I get into Balatro as well as other folks? People talk about this game like it's downright addicting. And I mean, it's cute, yeah. But I guess I'm just a very progress oriented person, and I need something to change to keep me invested.

The set design is for 12th night from Shakespeare. My concept is a submerged world under the waterz and yeah it’s too big. I did not match my design to the given theatre at all…..it’s good for like a massive Opera production. Gonna be one of the best to put in my portfolio but nob not for this scale. My director tutor is so helpful and nice. She read me like a book and challenge me on things that I’m lacking of

The past month been bombastic work because I’m doing everything from illustrator perspective. I had no idea how set design work (nor I know that I’m sign up for set design at all in the first 3 week…….) everything is new but I’m getting there. This is like one of the nicest group of people I ever met. So kind easygoing but eve try one so busy all the time lol

My stamina is like 15% left every night but I hope it’s charge next week. And I hope I could tell some story about being set&costume design. May be I’ll write something next week or on the semester break

Btw I just found out that the course I’m getting into is one of the most hard to get in in Perth…….😂 everyone on the cafe is so shock cuz me and my mum keep saying that the school name is so similar to wooper burger. They just face palm looking at us like a mad people. I’m not being disrespectful I just enter the course because I’m want to do it. Purely want to work as costume designer and I sign up for it without research or anything. My plan was that if they not let me in I’ll work up for it and nagging them again next year…..guess they like my attitude lol

usually, yeah, but that's not necessarily the case! the simplest design to do artificial gravity would be a linear accelerator, that is, to accelerate (and decelerate) the vessel at roughly 1g to produce the same effect as being on earth. but you do have to design the vessel so that the ceiling is also a floor though, because the direction of gravity will switch roughly halfway through your journey! this would mostly be practical for long space journeys to prevent you astronauts from suffering from all the muscular degeneration etc. of low gravity

you could also have a rotating component to a space vessel to induce artificial gravity via centrifugal force (yeah yeah technically inertia but from your frame of reference it feels like a force), which i guess would technically be parallel to the direction of motion, though not really in the same way as ships since it would be radially symmetric, you'd effectively be living on the inner side of the outer wall of the vessel. this gives you a lot more freedom in terms of what speed you travel but you also need a much larger vessel for the amount of passengers you have, i think most designs that have been proposed just have a rotating component rather than spinning the whole vessel. probably this is what you'd use for actual regular space transportation whereas the linear accelerator would be for something like a one-way journey to another planet to establish a colony.

I do think if you wanted to do "as hard as possible" hard scifi these would basically be the only options though, yeah. we're not making artificial gravity fields any time soon (if it's even possible)

Yeah, after seeing whatever the hell they did to my girl (no offense to the designers lol) I think I rather just stick with this since at least IT has signs of life.. the top image just looks off and I'm trying to be nice here because I know that the plush + design is made by NazFX_Studios and I seen their (non HB/HH related) works and I know they could do better than whatever the heck happened to Bee...

My only guess is that the reason the design looks off because Vivziepop wants it to be cheaper produced or that translating a 2D design like Bee into 3D is time consuming or doesn't translate really well, kinda like the Peppa pig plushies

You know the more I look at the beelzebub plushie.. the more bootleg it looks because there’s so many errors and mistakes in the design

First of all the arms looks very unsymmetrical why is one side of her arms going up while the other side is down

Second you can obviously tell they poorly printed her face onto the plushie instead of giving her a simple plush face

third they just horribly stitch her clothes together onto the body instead of printing them on it would of actually look better but instead they didn’t and now her clothes can get easily torn off

and lastly the wings they could of done so much better with it but they just slap so glittery paper on her back and call it a day

I don’t know what possessed viv to make this build a bear ripoff for 50$ dollars but this honestly a joke I don’t think her fandom is that stupid enough to buy it

HAHAHA BUILD A BEAR RIPOFF 🤣🤣 tbh I didn't dissect the look of the plush whatsoever, because I have zero interest in buying it. Taking a better look at it now, the arms might be flexible, hence the posing? And I don't mind the face too much- in fact, to me the head is the best part of the thing.

But while removable/stitched clothes on a plush aren't anything new, I do agree that printing/texturizing them onto the fabric would have been better. And the wings ARE atrocious. There's a wing design I've seen used in plushies and on dolls... kinda like flexible metal as an outline, and then patterned plastic in the center? Hopefully ykwim.

Overall this plush isn't too bad considering it's of one of the more complex designs in the show, but I do think 50 bucks (and remember, there's tax and likely shipping fees and then tariffs are a thing in america now so is that gonna affect the fee as well, maybe) is a bit too much to ask considering the evident cut corners + the size of this plush not looking too large.

And I don't want to hear aaaanything about production costs when I can think of a few corporations AND small businesses I can buy better quality plushies from for a cheaper price.

i’m so pressured with improving myself as an artist and it’s making me lose it because i’m not even doing art for my career but i love it so much. Like i kinda feel useless doing it sometimes, especially since i see other artists and i know damn well i will never achieve that level and im not saying this for people to feel pity but idk i feel like my art style doesn’t fit tr.???3! or like idk. Sometimes i’ll literally cry because i feel like my art style doesn’t fit rindou and she’s literally my muse, she’s the reason why i get so excited to sit down and draw everyday yet i feel like im just stuck sitting somewhere where i can’t do anything special to show my love for her and it sounds silly.. bc that’s a fictional character but still, ive liked this character for so long and i see improvement just from drawing rindou non stop but i still feel like im just barely touching the surface of improvement. Also i feel like i care too much about what others may like vs what i want to try and draw.. i want to draw her raw and literally how i perceive her, her character, her body, every single aspect of her and why she’s so important to me. Yet i can’t do that because i get so scared of the outcome/how my artwork looks/ how others will perceive it. And im not saying im not happy with my art, i am but there’s just ways i want to do it i feel like wont stick out to others which scares me or it will seem ooc of rindou. literally because of this i always have the urge to delete my account and restart and continue doing that till i feel like i perfected her yet i dont think that’ll ever happen even with how much love i have for that character

Hmm... it's interesting how they made Luz wear a witch's cloak in Hunting Palisman - the episode where she introduces Flapjack to Hunter. This is also the episode where Hunter defies Belos by choosing Luz over him. He goes back to his palace empty-handed and he doesn't hand over Flapjack to Belos. Unbeknownst to Hunter, he is following Caleb's footsteps.

But then, in Hollow Mind, they made the choice to have Luz not wear her witches cloak - instead they made Luz wear a jacket with a giant "E" on it. They could have given Luz a completely different outfit like they did in Hunting Palisman. But they don't... they make her wear this specific jacket...

...They also make Hunter wear Caleb's symbol in Hollow Mind... an episode where Luz and Hunter are trapped in Philip's mind... where we can see paintings of the two most important characters in Philip's life - his brother and a witch from another world.

But I'm sure this is all unintentional.

Recently saw someone suggest that Tatanga should come back into the Mario franchise specifically as an opponent for Daisy in the sports games

This, in turn, inspired the answer to a question I've had for a long time now: if Tatanga came back, who would his doubles partner be?

I previously had him partnered up with Wingo since they were both the antagonists of spin-off games, but it always felt like I was just pairing the spares and they didn't have any real thematic similarity

If he's Daisy's rival, though? Well, now we know exactly who to pair him up with: Madame Grape!

Whether Grape will be a consistent enemy to Peach is obviously yet to be seen, but unless Peach gets a second personal antagonist, then it only makes sense for Grape and Tatanga to team up as the duo of purple princess persecutors

The dichotomy between them is pretty fun too: where Grape seems to be significantly larger than most characters, Tatanga is quite small; where Grape is magical, Tatanga is scientific; where Grape hates Peach, Tatanga loves Daisy

I doubt Nintendo would give them any real interactions, but there's a lot of potential for a really interesting dynamic there. If nothing else, Grape's introduction into the franchise offers a unique opportunity for revisiting Tatanga
