In hindsight, they all should've seen it coming.
You were the last to join the team and easy to get along with. You could roll with the punches and keep up with Alexei, put John in his place when he stepped out of line, sympathize with Bob, and have a blast with Yelena and Ava. Hell, you even congratulated Bucky on his six month stint as a Congressman and swore he made a difference. He admired your kindness. He admired you.
The team thought Bucky was just being extra welcoming since he always found an excuse to be around you. If you offered to cook for the team, he was beside you in the kitchen ready to help. If you wanted to spar, he dropped what he was doing to go to the training room. And if you suggested a movie night, he sat next to you with your favorite snacks ready to go and a blanket in case you got cold.
Everyone noticed that Bucky smiled more when you were around. He laughed more, too. Turned to you for advice and didn't mind staying up late to chat or exchange books. Your room also happened to be beside his and he spent a lot of time in there, more than a regular teammate should.
The recent movie night you snuggled against him and started to doze off. If anyone else had tried to snuggle with him there was a chance they'd lose a hand, but not you. “Mmm. You're so good to me, Bucky,” you said when he picked you up.
“You know me. Just being a good teammate,” he replied, holding you close the way a boyfriend would and not at all like a teammate.
Yeah, they should’ve seen it coming.
Bob stumbled upon you by accident. He had forgotten his hoodie in the common room after one of the movie nights and froze when he spotted you and Bucky making out on the couch. He stood there for a full minute torn because he wanted to get his hoodie back, but he didn't want to interrupt. He ultimately decided against it when Bucky pushed you back on the cushions. On top of his hoodie.
“I’ll just… I’ll get it tomorrow. And I’ll wash it. Yeah, yeah. I'll do that. It’s fine. Everything’s fine,” he mumbled as he went back to his room.
You were kind enough to wash it yourself the next day and offered to buy him a new one, but he declined. It was nice that you offered. And he was happy because he saw how happy you made Bucky.
Yelena caught the two of you in the training room. For a moment it looked like Bucky was trying a new move on you and she almost asked him to show her how it was done. Tilting her head after a few seconds, she realized what she was seeing wasn't a defense move at all. If there was any doubt, the grunt he let out and the moan you gave him in response when some clothes were moved aside told her very loud and clear what was happening. And it would've been rude to stay and watch.
“Oh, I'm not sparring on that mat again,” she muttered.
She did spar on it again after Bucky cleaned it twice.
Ava didn't catch the two of you doing anything. She phased in the kitchen one day while Bucky was eating and making a mess. The exasperated look on your face when you tossed him a paper towel was adorable, as was the smile you two exchanged. Bucky never looked that soft around anyone else.
“You eat pussy like that?” Ava asked to get a rise out of Bucky when another drop of sauce hit his shirt.
“Yeah, he does,” you said without skipping a beat.
Ava laughed, thinking it was a joke at first, before she caught Bucky staring you down and licking his lips. You bit your lip and Ava almost phased out of the room to give you two some privacy. You beat her to it by sauntering out of the room with a smirk, the super soldier hot on your tail and leaving his mess behind.
“Thank you for not using the counter since we eat here!” Ava called out after the two of you.
Bucky had you on the counter the next day so he could eat, too.
Alexei found the two of you in his limo tangled up in each other. You couldn't explain why you and Bucky decided to fool around in there, but you wanted to have some fun and the limo was there. And it was clean. The Red Guardian wasn't at all upset. In fact, he felt honored that the Winter Soldier wanted to have sex in his limo and blasted “Pony” to set the mood.
“That’s what I talk about!” he cheered before Yelena dragged him away.
She also decided then and there that she’d always ride in the front seat of the limo.
John was the last to know, which surprised no one. After a successful mission, he realized neither you nor Bucky had answered a question he asked. Whatever smartass comment he began died in his throat when Bucky unashamedly kissed you. There was nothing gentle or chaste about it. It was a deep, filthy kiss and he felt like a perv watching.
Bucky must've thought something similar since he gave John the finger all while he continued to kiss you and you gripped his hair.
“Are you guys…” John trailed off since the rest of the group didn't seem at all surprised by the display. “Wait, did everyone know? Was I the only one who didn't know?”
“Yes, dime store Captain America.” Ava rolled her eyes. “Everyone knew.”
Whether it was the insult of being the last to know, John looked offended. “Even Bobby? And since when did the two of them become a thing?”
Bucky broke the kiss to glare at the blonde. “Yeah, asshole, Bob knew,” he replied.
“And it wasn't really a secret. We just hadn't officially announced it,” you said, giggling when Bucky’s lips found yours again.
Apparently the display was the official announcement.
“I really did know,” Bob smiled before he cleared his throat. “I, uh, found them in the common room.”
“Training room,” Yelena said.
Ava nodded. “Kitchen.”
“Limo!” Alexei shouted, hitting his chest. “My limo.”
“Jesus Christ,” John muttered.
Bob shrugged. “I think they make a good couple.”
“Of course, you do,” Yelena said, a small smile forming on her face as you and Bucky carried on. “I think so, too.”

His words made her stomach twist. She tried to pull away, but he laughed softly.
“Oh, no. No more running.”
She had once tried to fight. It hadn’t gone well.
Spencer wasn’t physically imposing, but he didn’t need to be. He had tranquilizers, locks that only opened by biometric scan, a mind that outpaced hers in every way. She was the puzzle he delighted in solving again and again.
“Lie down,” he said now, voice as casual as asking someone to pass the salt.
When she didn’t move, he sighed, and something in the air shifted. “Do I need to restrain you?”
The silence was thick.
“I want you to make the choice,” he whispered. “Because that’s what makes this beautiful. The moment you give in.”
With shaking hands, she stepped backward and eased onto the bed. It was warm—always warm—and the sheets smelled like him.
He stood at the foot of the bed and looked down at her with a mix of reverence and hunger, like she was both a sacred object and something he wanted to ruin.
His fingers moved to his shirt buttons, slow and methodical. The anticipation in the room crackled like static. She hated how her body responded—how her thighs pressed together instinctively, how heat pooled low in her stomach even as her brain screamed wrong.

“You’re already shaking,” he whispered, lips brushing her breastbone. “But not from fear.”
He kissed lower. Took his time. Tongue hot and slow against her navel. One hand pressed her thigh open, the other smoothed up the inside until his thumb grazed the soaked fabric between her legs.
She turned her head away in shame, but he chuckled darkly.
“There it is,” he murmured. “Proof.”
He pulled her underwear aside and dipped his fingers through her folds, deliberately avoiding the spot she needed him most. She arched involuntarily, but he withdrew.

Devil May Cry: The Animated Series (2007) - Dissecting Episode 8 "Once Upon a Time"
A.k.a. spending many words addressing what I feel is a much dismissed episode of the 2007 anime.

Ep 8 "Once Upon A Time" is a Vergil backstory episode. From what I've seen over the years, this apparently flies over the heads of even people familiar with all other works in Devil May Cry canon. But I think that this episode deserves re-evaluation, because it is really very consistent with how Vergil is portrayed both in DMC 3 and in his more recent re-appearance in DMC 5.
The premise of the episode is that a man named Earnest heard that his old friend Anthony had resurfaced running a business called Devil May Cry. He had fallen out of contact with Anthony 20 years ago following a fire that burned to the ground the port town called Morris Island where they lived - killing the majority of the population. The fire was claimed by survivors to be caused by a demon attack on the island. Dante denies meeting Earnest before. He goes along with Earnest to visit the town anyways because he wants to know who is putting Earnest up to this.
Consulting the various pieces of evidence.
1) Dante is not usually known for lying (except for withholding information), and yet he says repeatedly "I'm not the Anthony you are looking for". That's a pretty odd way to phrase his denial, but it makes sense when you realize why the show can't just outright say "that wasn't me, but it might have been my identical twin brother". A conceit of the show is that it never once acknowledges in words that Dante had a twin brother. The show is allergic to saying the name "Vergil" (not even once!), which made it surreal to watch as an introduction to the series in 2007 and to later learn "oh, he has a twin brother!....OH NO he has a dead twin brother!" Because of the way that in retrospect it's obvious that Vergil haunts the narrative in at least half of the episodes.
This is almost the exact same way that Vergil is handled in DMC 4, where he's very plot relevant despite his name never being spoken. The Yamato belonged to "Dante's brother" - that's the extent to which anyone acknowledges him in words. Because the writers have decided to address the question of "how do you make the viewers aware of the past escapades of the characters without wasting screen-time on exposition dumps" with the answer of: "Don't! :)"
Real people don't start off every new relationship by explaining their tragic backstory - so when characters like Patty and Nero are introduced they are surrogates for the fraction of the audience who did not play the previous games or read the books and are reacting to the mysterious figure of Dante from an outsider perspective.
2) This point is one of the weakest (because it only works in hindsight), but it should be said that as of DMC 5 and Visions of V it is known that the demon attack on Morris Island is entirely separate and unrelated to the demon attack on the Sparda mansion near Redgrave City. It is also heavily implied that Dante was constantly up in Vergil's business - making it unlikely that Vergil could keep a secret friend from Dante and also have that friend never find out about his twin brother.

Plus there is the timeline to consider. DMC 1 takes place 20 years after the attack on the Sparda mansion. Morris Island takes place 20 years before this episode of the anime. There is a gap of at least a few years between DMC 1 and the anime considering that there was enough time for Trish to partner with Dante, change the shop name, and then for Trish to leave and the shop name to change back. So even the timelines don't match up if these 20-year time spans are strictly correct rather than vague approximations of time.
3) Dante has a completely separate backstory about where he ended up after his family home burned down in a fire and he was separated from Vergil. Because of the shock and to protect himself he buried his real identity in amnesia for like 8-10 years and created an identity as Tony Redgrave. He became a regular human mercenary and unaware of demons until suddenly he was pulled back into it and forced to remember. This is covered in the DMC 1 novel. The DMC 1 novel has been more decisively folded into canon as of references to its events in DMC 5: Before the Nightmare. In contrast, Vergil's whereabouts during the same time period were a mystery. What would have been the point of giving Dante a new personal history set in a small port town when you can instead take the opportunity to fill in the blanks on the person whose past is unknown?
Basically, the writers take it for granted that there is a tacit understanding with the fans that they will be faithful in writing Dante's character to the extent that is possible. Thinking that the viewers understand that the 2007 anime is not an adaptation of any previous works and has no desire to re-tread those previous works. The version of Dante as he appears in DMC 3 and subsequently in the anime is written as the character he would be if he experienced the events laid out in the DMC 1 prequel novel. Anything that they've retconned is exclusively related to Vergil - Vergil was not abducted by Mundus as a child and Vergil did not experience the events of the DMC 1 novel (and is unaware of Gilver in general). So if those things did not happen - then what replaced them? The way that anime Ep 8 and DMC 4 are written imply that the writers already had ideas about the answers (it's only 3 years between DMC 3 in 2005 and DMC 4 in 2008), but outside of more prequels there is no graceful way to deliver information about a character who is canonically dead - everything about their thoughts and intentions is filtered through 2nd and 3rd hand unreliable sources.
Even so, Visions of V re-creates the singular kid Vergil scene that was shown in the DMC 3 manga. In that case the scene takes the form of a surreal nightmare that is forced on him by the demons that he is conversing with in the present. It's surreal in the sense of the symbolism of being naked and afraid and stabbed to a gravestone with your own name on it.

Whereas the Visions of V version positions itself as a more straightforwards narrative account of the event. Vergil chooses to acknowledge what he was really thinking and feeling that day as a step towards working past it:

4) Earnest and "Anthony" had a favourite teacher - Margaret - so they seem to have both had a scholarly inclination. The unique cutscene introducing the Vergil playable route in DMC 3:SE (and at multiple points in the DMC 3 manga) shows him browsing books in a library.

The plot of the episode is that Earnest has an ill-begotten plan to open a portal to Hell and summon a demon. Dante tries to talk him out of it and is unsuccessful. This is a smaller scale version of what Vergil did in DMC 3. The parallels - they are here.

5) The kid in the photo that Dante sees at Earnest's house is wearing a blue/black jacket and red shirt. Blue with red interior lining being the colours associated with Vergil at the time of DMC 3, but even more directly with Nero in DMC 4. Morris Island is a port town. Fortuna is a port town on an island. This anime was being written and produced during the same timeframe as DMC 4.

6) Earnest and "Anthony" buried a box of treasures as children and it was a secret between the two of them. The box that Dante digs up has a scratched out name on a field of blue. The first letter of the name is a cursive "V". How did Dante know where the box was? Dante and Vergil were twins and were still similar enough at age 10 or so that Dante could guess where Vergil would have hidden something. They were similar enough that they both chose the same name of Anthony/Tony when they tried to obscure their identity. The identity confusion is a feature, not a bug - it's part of the tragic irony. It's toying with the same question as DMC 5: if their positions were switched, would their fates be different?

Dante does not care about Earnest. At all. At least, beyond the point that he's a person about to do something foolish that could get himself and a lot of other people killed. Dante is doing the bare minimum to humor this man - so if not because of some gesture related to their "friendship", why even dig up the box? For the same reason that he went to visit the town: curiosity. He was looking for proof of Vergil's existence in the world before that one time he showed up when they were 18 talking about a lunatic plan to raise a demon tower and open the connection between human and demon worlds (DMC 3 manga), and then at age 19 actually went through with that plan while revealing that the point of it all was to gain more power (DMC 3), followed shortly by throwing himself into Hell while severely injured at the end of DMC 3. What would motivate a person to do these things?
7) This port town being burned down in a fire caused by a demon attack explains a lot about the psychology of Vergil, in ways that would not be explicitly confirmed until DMC 5 and Visions of V. He's motivated by his fear. He did not hide from Mundus as successfully as Dante, and even when he tried to reinvent himself as a different person the demons caught up with him. Dante lived through one tragic fire and loss of home and safety and he knows how devastating it is - but he repressed the memory and moved on from it in his own uniquely dysfunctional way. Vergil experienced at least this 2nd attack, which begs the question of how many more times did it happen that Dante is unaware of? How badly would it damage a person to live in fear of being constantly hunted and unable to stay in any place for very long or form lasting attachments to other people? Dante can relate to this a bit given his own personal tragedies, although unlike Vergil he has a handful of people like Lady and Trish to keep him grounded though the years.

But for Vergil it can be extrapolated that he was forced to be alone after any attempt to get close to normal people ended in further tragedy, and it seems like the demons won't stop hunting him until either he is dead or the mastermind sending the demons to hunt him is dead. This evolves into an obsession with power, detachment from human social connection, and willingness to make the decision that a city worth of humans is acceptable collateral damage so long as it gets him that power and opportunity to end Mundus.
If there is a single detail that calls in to doubt that Ep 8 is about actual Vergil post-separation from Dante, it is that "Anthony and his mother" lived in the village. On the other hand, the inclusion of this detail seems as much designed to baffle Dante as it does the viewer. This could be a hook for Dante that has him doubting Earnest's story and/or his own memory because he was certain that their mother died at the same time that Dante and Vergil were separated. However, although there are photographic records of "Anthony" in the town there don't seem to be any of this "mother", and her name is never given.
So if indeed "Anthony" was Vergil, then this mother figure is a continuing mystery. The possibility is that Vergil was accompanied by a woman who was a mentor to him in some way, similar to Dante with Nell Goldstein. Could have been a magical mentor - how did he learn to fling about spectral swords anyways? Impossible to say for certain (i.e. more flexible for future use as a plot point), but if Patty and Morrison from the anime are canon then this suggests that other things set up in the 2007 anime could get a callback if ever there was a DMC6.
As for the purpose of this episode in the context of the anime - it would have been deliberately designed as an attack on Dante by Sid - the mischief maker of the series who is advancing a background demon resurrection plot. One of the times that Dante confronts him Sid says "In the end you were drawn here by the smell of a devil weren't you?" before backflipping off the balcony as the scene lights up with blue lightning.

What is it that Vergil says in the Mission 13 fight in DMC 3 the first time he uses his devil trigger: "You will not forget this devil's power".

This whole episode is a twist of the knife to deliver a reminder that Dante and Vergil weren't so different once, that kid Vergil probably missed their mother as much or more than Dante because he didn't have the luxury of willing himself into amnesia, and that while Dante managed to make it to adulthood before demons found their way back into his life Vergil was not so lucky. Understanding some of the reasons that drove Vergil to obsessively seeking power only makes it worse that Dante was now twice responsible for unknowingly playing into Mundus plans by severely injuring Vergil in a fight to the death in DMC 3, and then by killing him instead of saving him in DMC 1.
Bonus: Even the alcohol gets in on the theme. Dante in his own home office enjoys a "Budweiner" beer with his buddy Morrison as he gets the details about Morris Island. The end credits show him with a glass of "Back Janiels" liquor - these are his usual tastes. When he visits Earnest's house it is just after seeing that photograph of (presumably) kid Vergil that he is offered a glass of red wine.

This is some classic gothic imagery where red wine evokes the look of blood. The last time that Dante and Vergil fought (intentionally - not counting when Vergil was under the control of Mundus) it was over what it means that they have the blood of Sparda. And blood is present in the lyrics of the lesser demon battle music that plays through Missions 2-13 right up to the scene where Vergil is trying to open the gate.

"Hey, baby?" Clay's fiddling with his shirt sleeves while you finish checking your hair in the mirror. Both of you dressing to the nines for a friend's wedding, trying to look your best while watching the clock so that you're not late either.

"Can you c'mere and help me with these cufflinks? My fingers keep slipping." You don't even think about it, moving with ease from the vanity to Clay, taking the cufflinks from him.
"Mm, of course," You find it simple enough, fingers making light work of slipping the cufflinks in and locking them all while Clay watches you, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. That should have told you he was up to something before anything else, but you're blissfully oblivious, content to just help your boyfriend with his cufflinks.
“Such a good girl f’me.” His words stop you stock still, freezing in place as they hit you like a truck, a shiver involuntarily running through you before you fully process his words and the shit eating grin on his face.
You glare at Clay, arms crossed because he knows what he's doing. Clay always knows what he's doing. He knows what words have what impact on you, can read you like a book and play you like a fiddle.
"What?" His grin only widens, dimple appearing in his right cheek like always.
"Don't even start, we have a wedding to go to!" You huff as you put your heels on because he knows exactly how those two little words effect you and you can't be late to this wedding.
"I'm not starting anything."
"Oh, really? Because last I checked those were fighting words, mister." Those were words that he knew always riled you up. Those were words that he knew would get you hot under the collar, that usually led to the two of you in a closet somewhere or your bed. They were not words you used casually in your day to day.
"Good girl, you mean?" The grin doesn't leave, teeth on show, eyes sparkling as he shrugs on his suit jacket and runs a hand through his hair. It frustrates you that even in this context those two little words make you feel warm all over.
"Clay!"
"Alright, alright!" At the time you don't realise how much of a problem those two little words are going to be. At the time, you think he'll leave it...oh you were so wrong.

It's 2am on a Friday when you bring a plate of eggs, toast and bacon to the bedroom, breaking your usual rule of no food in the there in favour of making sure he actually eats before he leaves.
Clay's checking the last of his packing when you place the plate and cutlery on the vanity for him.
"Here, I made you some breakfast, figured you'd want to eat something before you have to leave." You yawn it out, so, so tired, but not wanting to sleep while he's leaving. You needed to see him off, you hated waking up to see him gone without a proper goodbye.
"Baby, it's 2am, you didn't have to get up with me."
"I wanted to. Here." You press your hands into his shoulders, directing him to sit and eat. You stay there with your arms around him, cheek pressed into his shoulder from behind, eyes sleepy as you watch him.
"Good girl." The smirk makes an appearance, dimple forming as you glare at him through the mirror as he takes a bite of bacon.
"Clay."
"What?"
"You know what." You don't say anymore and neither does he, but you both know...God, it's become a recurring issue. His favourite thing to do to rile you up.

It starts to become a problem. Any little thing you do for him or any direction you follow gets a 'good girl' or ' atta girl' from Clay. Whether it's changing a light bulb in a lamp his hand is too big to work with or letting him do your seatbelt for you when you go for a drive somewhere.
It becomes a massive problem because soon he's finding himself nearly doing it in public, around the team, around your friends and around family. It becomes a problem because it's like you're one of Pavlov's dogs. He's conditioned a certain response from you, no matter the situation.
You're so used to Clay calling you that during sex, so used to associating it with pleasure that when he uses it outside of that? Well, your body reacts the same. Heat fills your face, restless energy fills your body, a desire to jump his bones no matter where you are hits...it's frustrating how easily he can turn that switch on for you especially when he knows that he can abuse it.
It becomes a problem that your determined to make his problem, after all he started it.

Rewatching 3x01 & 3x08 together (for fic purposes)
Spoilers for the whole season and some general spoilers for the books through, idk, I'll say Winter's Heart.
It really does feel like 3x01 set up some strong conflicts that were resolved in 3x08 -- Egwene's misgivings about Rand being about the madness as opposed to only about ~cheating~ comes across much more successfully if you only watch the first and last episodes of the season, lol.
I do personally feel like dragging Randgwene out for so long muddled the narrative that they were going for with them (from my own feelings and a sampling of what other people said -- some people picked up on them being mis-aligned but a lot of people basically attributed it all to Rand being A Bad Cheater Boyfriend, with Egwene essentially only being a passive victim instead of an active part of the relationship), because the themes that I've seen Rafe, Josha, and Maddy talk about in interviews (about Randgwene being about nostalgia and trying to keep in place a relationship that really doesn't exist anymore) feels like it comes across a lot more strongly without any of the intervening episodes between 3x01 and 3x08.
imo, 3x01 is also really the only episode where we get to see that Egwene is still ambitious, I think, and even then, it's only during her 3x01 Arches viewing (where mad!Rand tells her that she got 'what she always wanted' by becoming the Amyrlin, and so was potentially dismissed by viewers simply because it came out of Rand's mouth). And she never talks about it to anyone! It's all couched in her protecting Rand or being devoted to the Light (or protecting herself, once she realizes that there's an actual living person messing with her dreams). She never admits to any ambition in herself in s3, and she's never called out on it by anyone that the narrative tells us should be trusted on the matter (aka someone other than Rand).
What we needed was something like the scene with Elayne in early s2, where Elayne calls Egwene out on her jealousy of Nynaeve and it's obvious in Egwene's reaction that she hit on a sore spot and that Elayne is reading her accurately. Though, minor sidebar, now I kinda want to go back and see if Egwene ever admits to any faults, because it could be that that is supposed to be one of Egwene's flaws in the show -- we know from what was said in 1x07 that the pattern of the Randgwene pre-canon relationship was that if they had a fight, Rand (and only Rand) would apologize and that would 'fix' the fight, so Egwene never admitting to any faults or mistakes seems true for pre-canon Egwene; and when Randgwene 'resolve' their 1x07 fight, iirc Egwene never admits to there being any reason that Rand might doubt her devotion to Mat, a character who she has NEVER had a one-on-one conversation with on-screen and who she, in fact, did openly doubt when it came to his moral character. But it could be that I'm forgetting some lines that show!Egwene has had that would contradict this theory?
(I just went back and watched that Egwene & Elayne scene and Egwene never actually admits that Elayne was right and that she was feeling jealous; she straight-up denies it, in fact, just like she constantly denies in s3 that she's worried Rand might go mad -- it's just obvious in her reactions that what Elayne is saying is the truth. Plus it being about a friendship and not about a romance also helps un-cloud the issue, imo. As we also see in how Nynaeve gets more sympathy for wanting to 'save' Liandrin from the Shadow than Rand gets for wanting to 'save' Lanfear. So, yeah, that makes me lean towards 'this is an intentional flaw in Egwene's character' but I do feel like we needed something more in s3 to make that clear to viewers)
That is actually something that Mat could have potentially done if he'd gone into the Waste storyline the way that he does in the books -- been a contrast against/sounding board for Egwene. There's a bit of distance there, because he's one of Rand's best friends, but also a level of trust, because he's from the Two Rivers. I really do feel like we needed more of Egwene actually expressing her own feelings over the course of s3, because after 3x01, basically everything is other people telling Egwene how she feels while she either loudly denies it or looks off into the distance and says nothing. But according to the interviews, everyone else was right about Egwene's feelings and she was just in denial the whole time, but we never get anything validating that on-screen, imo. She just stays silent. So I really hope that we do get some conversations in s4 where Egwene expresses her own feelings instead of other people doing it for her.
Rewatching these two episodes so closely together also (as @markantonys recently talked about) really shows the contrast between the mad!Rand or the euphoric!Rand that we see in 3x01 vs the determined Rand that we see in 3x08, but we can also see that Egwene seems to feel like these are the same Rand, which means that she's not seeing him clearly. All that intervening space and the way that the Randfear relationship intersects with the relationship throughline makes it easier to go along with Egwene's viewpoint in 3x08, imo, and it's not as clear as it could be that she's not seeing the actual Rand who is standing in front of her but is instead seeing him through the lens of Arches!Rand who is screaming at her to bow to him. Everyone else is witnessing a prophecy coming to life, while Egwene is re-living one of her worst fears that she was forced to confront.
I feel like a conversation, or maybe more just showing us that Egwene is being affected by her visions, would have been good. Because it feels like Nynaeve's conversation about how deeply the Arches visions affects a person could be used to show that it's supposed to affecting Egwene too, even if she never talks about it but a) Elayne's visions aren't even shown on-screen and don't appear to have affected her at all and b) Nynaeve's talk sets up how her final vision in the Arches powers her own arc this season, so it's easy to mentally go "well, that's true for Nynaeve but it doesn't appear to be true for Elayne or Egwene".
So yeah, my general feeling is still that we either should have had Randgwene have their final relationship talk in 3x01 and had the rest of the season them resolving into a complex exes situation, or cut out some of the Liandrin backstory from 3x03 in order to put in some kind of Egwene scene where we can see how clearly she's seeing mad!Rand in the not-mad!Rand who is standing in front of her. Because it really feels like the way the narrative was played out disguises any issues that Egwene was bringing to the table in s3, and makes it look like the dissolution of their relationship was entirely Rand's fault. Especially since when Egwene talks about their 'relationship' to Elayne & Nynaeve, she says, "it's just as it was back home, like nothing's changed" while Rand says to Mat & Perrin, "we haven't really talked about [whether or not we're back in a relationship]" and we never get any kind of open and honest read from Egwene's perspective the entire season.
But, again, just watching 3x01 vs 3x08 does make the change in the relationship clear (even if Egwene still won't admit to Aviendha in 3x08 that they are no longer in a relationship! which is so wild to me!), and shows that Rand and Egwene have strongly conflicting points of view on how Rand needs to approach being the Dragon (especially now that Rand has fully embraced Moiraine's perspective, which contrasts sharply against Egwene's) and that this is, at this point in time, an irreconcilable difference in them that means that their relationship will never again be what it once was.
Egwene: "We could have kept you (Nynaeve) safe." vs Rand: "Safe's not possible anymore."
Egwene is trying to keep Rand 'safe' (from others? from himself?) all season but safety is not possible. But that might be what lies inside Egwene's refusal to commit to a break-up, even in 3x08? Because she believes that Rand 'needs' her in order to have the strength to pull himself back from the madness? idk she never talks about it! if that's the case, then maybe Rand not listening to her at the end of 3x08 means that she'll finally admit that they're not in a relationship anymore. We can only hope!
I do think that in the context of Egwene believing that she might need to 'stop' Rand, then her reaction to Aviendha asking if Rand ~deserves~ her strength is more interesting, because Rand's 'worthiness' is beside the point, if it's not about romance but instead potentially needing her strength to stop a 'mad!Rand' situation.
Rand absolutely is trying for a soft break-up in 3x01, though, with his assumption that Egwene is going to stay at the White Tower with Nynaeve and Mat, and she is not having any of it. And they're kinda stuck there until 3x06 though, again, it's wild that even in 3x08, Egwene will not verbally commit to no longer being in a relationship with Rand! (but Rand does, and it feels like the scene in 3x06 was clear enough to make the viewers feels that they're 'broken up enough' too, even if Egwene still won't say the words).
But by those same standards (was the 3x01 conflict resolved in 3x08?) -- it feels like Mat didn't go much of anywhere this season. He had some fan favorite scenes but the conflict that appears to be set up in his opening scenes -- not being able to help his friends because he's caught up in his own struggles -- remains the situation that he's in at the end of the season. Instead of being able to help Elayne or Nynaeve against the Black Ajah, he's caught up in his own struggles and taken out of the picture. He's struggling with memories in 3x01 and is now struggling with memories in the opposite direction in 3x08 (lost memories instead of new memories). He moved laterally but didn't actually resolve anything.
...that does line up with how Nynaeve's struggle with her block was essentially 'on hold' during s2 and then tee'd up to get knocked out in s3, so it could be that Mat was put on hold so that he can get the resolution to his current character struggle in s4 (fingers crossed for renewal, as always).
Taking Mat out of the Waste kinda feels like being put 'on hold' for Mat's own storyline but it has a MASSIVE impact on Rand's storyline.
Because everyone else who was already inclined to treat Rand like a person and also not be personally hurt by his relationship with Lanfear were already naturally leaving his plotline (Perrin, Elayne, and Nynaeve) so deliberately removing Mat -- who is the person who has been set up by the show to be the MOST sympathetic to Rand's concerns, as someone who a) has committed a similar 'crime' of abandonment that Rand did (1x06 Waygate abandonment vs 1x08 pretending to be dead), b) worried for weeks in s1 that he himself was the Dragon and was going mad, c) has already shown himself willing to support and uplift Rand (amateur therapy session in s2), d) has no reason to feel personally betrayed by Rand having feelings for Lanfear -- feeds into them wanting to play into Rand being more vulnerable to Lanfear when he's isolated.
And then that implies that bringing (some of) those people back into Rand's storyline in s4 would naturally/narratively give us a chance to get the other side of the story. Lanfear, the person who was trying to convince Rand that no one (but her) could genuinely care about him if they knew who he truly was, is now out of his life in a romantic way, and we are now free to bring back in the people who prove that she's wrong, because part of the point of s3 was to show us a Rand that would make the audience genuinely worry that he might pick Lanfear over the Light (but ultimately, I feel like the show would want to make it clear that Lanfear isn't actually correct and people are capable of loving and caring for all of who Rand is).
So it might have all been intentionally done to put us into Egwene's perspective to worry over Rand's mental state only to then bring in some characters in s4 who will be able to show us that part of that reaction was Egwene writing her own fears and worries onto Rand even though those fears aren't actually present (yet) in Rand's behavior.
It felt so significant to me that there was no Rand & Lanfear scene in the premiere and that really did play out throughout the season - Lanfear's primary dynamic this season, the one that mattered the most, was the one with Moiraine. Rand mentions Selene to Perrin and Mat -- that's the woman that he misses, the woman that he wanted. A woman who never existed. Moiraine is the one dealing with the woman who actually exists -- Lanfear. Just as it's Moiraine and Lan who deal with Lanfear in the season premiere, they are the ones who deal with her in the finale, while Rand has moved on from his ex and is dealing with things that matter more to him than holding on to a dead relationship with a cruel and manipulative woman.
The Randfear relationship is really well done on its own, but yeah I do feel like pulling the Randgwene relationship out so long kinda dilutes the power of what we see with Randfear, where Lanfear spends so long manipulating Rand and trying to convince him that no one but her can truly love him, only for Rand to go through the same realization that Lews Therin went through with her -- where she did something that accidentally revealed her cruelty and malice to him, and it make him realize the truth about her as a person. Because Egwene is mixed up in it, it gets dismissed as ~cheating~ instead of the abuse and manipulation of Rand that it is (otoh, it's entirely possible that even if Egwene weren't mixed up in it, it would still get dismissed the same way that the Mat-Tylin abusive dynamic is dismissed by some book!fans -- because some people genuinely believe that it's impossible for women to abuse men).
Randfear only have four (and a half, if you count Charn and Mierin) scenes together this season but each scene moves the story of their relationship's downfall forward in a powerful way -- we have the baseline of 3x02, which establishes that Lanfear is trying to tempt Rand and telling him that no one but her is capable of loving him because he's secretly just as awful as she is (peak abusive manipulation); we have 3x03, where Lanfear does her best to play on Rand's heartstrings and make him want to save her; we have 3x04, where Rand is given his hope that maybe Lanfear CAN be saved (and it's key that his hope comes from something that Lanfear herself had no way to manipulate); we have 3x05, where he momentarily gives in to temptation because he thinks there's a chance that 'Selene' really was a real version of Lanfear; and then we have 3x08, where Rand has learned who Lanfear really is and takes control of their relationship in order to finally end it. That is very economical and efficient storytelling! And the body language is all the Randfear scenes is just... excellently done. You can see the whole story just in the way they react to each other, without needing the words.
I will say, it feels very much like a warning sign that Moiraine and Lanfear agree that Rand's friends are 'holding him back' from 'the man that he must become' and then Rand comes around to agreeing with Moiraine (and, by extension, Lanfear) in the finale, and no longer objects to their methods (of hurting his friends to try to drive them away). Lanfear is maybe not the person that we should be agreeing with when it comes to how Rand's mental state should be handled.
That being said, the two parallel scenes of Rand and Moiraine's conversations in 3x01 vs 3x08 are very good -- we get them completely unable to connect and agree in 3x01, and when Moiraine crouches down to Rand's level, it feels like she's treating him like a child. While the 3x08 scene is both of them being willing to meet in the middle -- Moiraine admits she was wrong to try to force Rand to go to Tear, while otoh Rand has come fully to terms with the idea of embracing Moiraine's (unhealthy) policy of cutting himself off from his loved ones in order to embrace being the Dragon. And when Rand gets on her level in that second scene, it marks them seeing each other with vulnerability and mutual honesty, and they stand up together to fight their separate (yet linked) battles.
It cracks me up that Elayne gets kicked out of the ~serious conversation~ about the danger that Rand poses to the people he loves that Siuan wants to have with Egwene and Nynaeve... only to go talk to Rand and actually be the one person who has the greatest impact on him this entire season, by setting in motion his choice to go to the Aiel Waste and becoming the Car'a'carn to earn the Aiel as an army. Her advice here saves Rand's life (per what the Wise Ones told Moiraine in 3x03) and is key to him fulfilling the prophecies and the only people who know about it are her and Rand.
But that really does point out that Elayne gets left out of all of the "oh no, Rand is super-dangerous and is going to go mad" conversations that Egwene gets hammered with this season, so she's not bringing that with her everywhere she goes the way that Egwene is. But, yeah, this is another scene where Egwene has this instant denial and push-back against the idea that she might need to 'stop' Rand but apparently (from what was said in interviews and actually also the synopsis for the season that was put out) -- worrying about needing to 'stop' Rand was part of Egwene's struggle this season! I know I've mentioned it before but I really really feel like it needed some more attention and I feel like we could have sacrificed some of Liandrin's backstory in order to put a spotlight on this struggle of Egwene's.
Again, if you only watch 3x01 and 3x08 back to back, then I think that theme does come through successfully, but when you have all those intervening episodes, I feel like it gets kinda lost, especially since it's something that Egwene is never willing to admit out loud.
"Rand isn't used to having power. Command doesn't sit easily on his shoulders. But he will learn his duties and responsibilities to your people." Much like Elayne sets Rand's journey into motion, we see here that she has faith in his ability to become the Aiel's Car'a'carn. When Egwene is with Rand, she is always trying to see the boy that she once knew (the way that Lanfear is always trying to see Lews Therin? the way that Rand is trying to see Selene?), but Elayne sees the person that Rand actually is -- his challenges and his struggles included.
So I'm really hoping that we're going to see that when Elayne comes back into s4 and hopefully gets back into Rand's storyline relatively quickly -- Egwene will now be looking at Rand through the lens of mad!Rand from the Arches since she's decided he's not the boy that she used to know, while Elayne looks at him and sees the person that's really there.
Plus we see that Elayne is fully willing to wield dangerous power for the sake of the Light when she grabs the balefire rod from Jeaine and murders her with it without even the slightest bit of hesitation. So that's another place where it seems like she can understand the position that Rand is in.
There is also a very subtle and in-the-background Randlayne hug in the 3x01 goodbye scene. They definitely kept the Randlayne vibes low-key but present -- she's incredibly important to his story this season but not in a way that trips 'cheating' bells the way that his interactions with Lanfear did. The subtitles also say that Rand is telling Elayne "Thank you" here! It is VERY quiet though, because that's right when the music is kicking up. But I can hear it when I turn the sound up. So yeah, Elayne goes from saying goodbye to Aviendha right to saying goodbye to Rand.
(and the ta'veren boys goodbye hug is also very nice, even if I remain sad that pretty much all Cauthor got stripped out of one of the biggest Cauthor books in the series)
Aviendha's "My duty is to you, as yours is to your people." really does reinforce the point that Elayne made to Rand about how even if Aviendha is grumpy over Rand being the Car'a'carn, she does still stick by him. And that plays out in 3x08 as well, even though I do wish they'd actually gotten their own scene together, instead of Aviendha's single one-on-one conversation being with Egwene.
The White Tower scenes in 3x01 vs 3x08 go full-circle so hard and so painfully. That what Siuan tries to do to Liandrin here -- denounce her as a Darkfriend -- comes around on her in the end. Tried, stilled, interrogated, and executed. That was the plan for Liandrin, before her Black Ajah allies in the Hall came to rescue her. And, of course, Elaida made sure to send away Siuan's allies before moving forward with her coup.
So out of the Black Ajah that are revealed here, Liandrin is the only survivor that we see on-screen at the end of the season. We also get a foretaste of vengeful Leane here, who will see likely see in full force in s4, with that need for revenge turned against Elaida. Leane doesn't interact with Egwene in this episode, but she is there to witness Egwene repudiating Siuan's authority and leaving immediately after her Accepted Test (and so is Alviarin, who becomes Leane's counterpart at the end of the season).
We have the contrast of helpless!Nynaeve in 3x01 (because she's blocked) and then she gets unblocked in 3x08... but too late to do anything except save her own life. That's something that I've been turning over in my head. Nynaeve doesn't get to 'protect the kids'. She doesn't make it in time when Egwene needs to be saved in s2 and Egwene has to rescue herself; she isn't the one to heal Rand when he gets his dagger injury; she's not the one to save Mat's life in 3x08 even though she promises to help him in 3x01.
Maybe something about Nynaeve learning how to put on her own life vest before helping with anyone else's? I really am curious if Nynaeve is going to be able to help any of the kids in s4, now that her block is broken and she's no longer afraid of/hating her own power anymore.

“She wanted you to think that.” Dina starts as she slowly brings the blade away from your neck.
"You need to get away"
Ellie appears behind her. Calm. Smiling.
"You were never meant to find each other," Ellie says. Both you and Dinas head snaps into the direction of her voice. You felt your body go cold. Dina's eyes widen with fear.
You can't even recall what happened next. All you remember was the sound of gunshots. It was all a blur.
Dina shoots first.
Ellie dodges.
You grab the gun and fire—
Ellie collapses.
You don’t breathe until her eyes close.
You watched Ellie- the women who has been tormenting you for the last few months bleed to death on the ground before you.
You hear Dina talking. You don't even know what she's saying, the only sound you could hear was the ringing in your ears.
Months went by and you live with Dina now. The two of you don’t talk about Ellie.
You don’t talk about how you sometimes wake up reaching for her.
You don’t talk about how, sometimes, you still hear her voice.
And you definitely don’t talk about the page in her journal you kept.
The one that wasn’t of you dead. The one where she drew herself, alone.
Underneath, it read: “If I let go, I lose her.”

How do the astrological magical watches work?
We see Dumbledore use a watch like this:
Dumbledore gave a great sniff as he took a golden watch from his pocket and examined it. It was a very odd watch. It had twelve hands but no numbers; instead, little planets were moving around the edge. It must have made sense to Dumbledore, though, because he put it back in his pocket and said, “Hagrid’s late. I suppose it was he who told you I’d be here, by the way?”

Dumbledore pulled a watch with twelve hands from his pocket and glanced at it, “half an hour of my time tonight, in which I think we shall be more than able to cover the important points of what has happened here...

And both Ron and Harry received these planetary watches for their 17th birthday:
“Seriously good haul this year!” he announced, holding up a heavy gold watch with odd symbols around the edge and tiny moving stars instead of hands. “See what Mum and Dad got me? Blimey, I think I’ll come of age next year too. . . .”

So, I want to talk about the social view of these watches, how they work, and how they are actually used (as such, this post is filled with headcanons):
Now, let's start with the division into twelve and the mentions of little planets/stars. This makes me think of astrological charts. There are 12 zodiac signs and 12 houses where different planets can fall in different positions on the 12 houses zodiacs on a birth chart:

(This is just a random example. The outer rim has the zodiac signs, the middle rim has the planets in their position/angle in the sky at the time of birth, the inner rim is divided into the 12 houses, which are also aspects of the planets' positions)
But we know what he can read on it is time, as in, the hour and not someone's supposed personality (I don't believe in astrology, but I have read two books on the subject out of curiosity) (and there are 12 numbers on a watch). Also, his watch has twelve hands and moving stars. So let's start with how a watch like that could work.
How do you read this watch?
The first important fact I want to note here is that while Harry seems unable to read Dumbledore's astrological watch in one of the above quotes when he sees it in passing, he seems able to read his own with no issue and with no one teaching him how to read it (that we see). Same goes for Ron. So whatever is going on here, it's easy to figure out on your own by looking at it for a few minutes with the knowledge of how to read a regular watch and everything you know from Astronomy class.
So, I started listing things that fit the above descriptions that the average wizard would like to have in his watch, plus, it needs to, at first glance, look like a whimsical mess. So, allow me to introduce you to my concept design for The Everything Watch:

As you can see, the planets, houses, and signs are marked here as well, like in a birth chart. The watch shows the planets as they are positioned at the moment in your location — this is relevant information due to certain potions/ingredients requiring certain planetary movements in their brewing/harvesting process.
The small green hands (all 3) are the regular watch hands that show the hours/minutes/seconds. The numbers 1-12 used for the watch also (more or less. the 12 is positioned right) mark the astrology houses' positions for the stars.
The small red hands are a compass; the lighter points north, the darker south.
The small swiggly orange hand is the direction of the wind.
The small, dark blue hand points at the moon phase (you could add more moon phases between the main ones I added). This is also relevant for potion making and certain rituals (like becoming an Animagus). Plus, I'm sure Remus uses it a lot.
The yellow hand is the sun's position in the sky during the day (the yellow-orange portion of the circle it points at) and the moon's position in the sky at night (the blue portion of the circle).
The light pink hand points at the month. It is positioned to the right date along the month, but that would be hard to read and therefore:
The darker pink/purple hand points at the day in the month on the outermost circle. So, together the two hands give the date. (Like the month hand, this one does move across the day accordingly. In the middle of the day it'll be at the center of the area, right after midnight, it'll be at the very beginning, etc.)
The darker turquoise hand points only at the bottom half of that circle (with the blue and red sections) and marks temperature.
The other turquoise hand points only at the top half and denotes whether conditions (as we know, some spells, like the Animagi ritual, require a lightning storm). The colors denote the different conditions from left to right: sunny, partially cloudy, overcast, light rain, rain, heavy rain, lightning storm, light snow, snow, heavy snow, fog, very windy, hurricane/disaster level storm.
Now, what do these watches mean?
As in, why is it traditional to gift such watches to wizards (not witches, just wizards, this is a gendered thing and there's more evidence for it brought up later): "It’s traditional to give a wizard a watch when he comes of age." But why? What does it mean? Why did this tradition start, and to what purpose?
And, if we expand our search a little, we see other adult wizards carry large gold pocket watches (which, I'd assume, is this kind of watch):

So, as always with HP, I went to history.
Until the early 20th century, pocket watches were very common for men and considered the manly watch options, while wristwatches were considered feminine and were favored by women. We actually see this divide in the WW, with adult wizards carrying pocket watches as mentioned above, while witches and young wizards use wristwatches:
“Look at the time,” Mrs. Weasley said suddenly, checking her wristwatch.

Harry took off his watch, which he was only wearing out of habit, as it didn’t work anymore, and stuffed it into his pocket.

Additionally, in the 18th century (when wizards broke away from muggles), it was customary to gift men practical gifts, often ones that would serve them on the traditional Grand Tour:

(This was a practice in irl muggle 18th and 19th century England. That after a man of higher social standing came of age, it was common for them to travel the world to show they can and how worldly they are. Then they would come back to England more mature and experienced to settle into a job and marriage)
Something like the above watch would be useful for finding your way around and practical to potions work and other magical endeavors. So, it seems a fitting gift to mark a young wizard stepping into adulthood.
Pocket watches, when they started becoming popular, were a sign of status and wealth; it's what a gentleman would wear. And I think, in the wizarding world, it's the same. I'm not the first to note this, but the Weasleys seem like the English trope of an aristocratic family that fell on hard times and has no money, but they have their name — and in the case of HP, their pure blood. The Prewetts (Muriel, in particular) act like they come from money. Both Arthur and Molly's inability to manage their funds properly is also the kind of behaviour you see from people who are used to having money, so they don't know how to budget. Someone who grew up in poverty would often keep some money for emergencies, in general would know how to budget it, and not spend all the prize money they get on a lavish trip to Egypt all at once.
So, I think this pocket watch is a tradition that started in the 18th century, and was meant to symbolise a wizard reaching adulthood and mark him as an academic and wealthy wizard (who probably studied the two optional NEWT years). The watch is a large and golden pocket watch — it is definitely a status thing as well as a coming-of-age thing, and I don't think all wizards have this sort of watch. Though nowadays, most of them probably do. Still I'm going to bet Mundungus doesn't (if he did, he would've sold it).
Is there a witch version?
The question here is whether there is a traditional coming-of-age gift for witches like the watch? I didn't find any mentioned in the books, but my guess would be yes. Just, not a watch.
If I had to come up with one, I'd say it would be some piece of Jellary (a common gift for coming-of-age for women in the 18th century). My headcanon is that they are often gifted lockets or brooches, which is why Merope was given Slytherin's locket by her father. It would be traditional to get a locket, and he didn't have the money to buy her a new one, but Marvolo likes to act like he still has the status he doesn't — which is why he would insist on the traditional gift. Umbridge also wears it proudly as a common sign of status others would be familiar with:
“That’s—that’s pretty, Dolores,” she said, pointing at the pendant gleaming in the ruffled folds of Umbridge’s blouse. “What?” snapped Umbridge, glancing down. “Oh yes—an old family heirloom,” she said, patting the locket lying on her large bosom. “The S stands for Selwyn. . . . I am related to the Selwyns. . . . Indeed, there are few pure blood families to whom I am not related. . . .

So, it makes sense to me. But it is a headcanon.
I also assume a witch's coming-of-age gift would have some enchantments to it, but this is where everyone can sort of come up with their own practical charms that would fit a locket or brooch.
I sort of expect women to receive their gift a year earlier, at 16. Men, even back in the 18th century, were seen as "full-age" after women. "Full-age" and "Adult" are not the same term, and even back then, different ages made you legally eligible for different things. But the term of when someone is "full-age" (when they were treated as full adults proper and not "young adults" or in any transitionary age) for men was 21 or even 25 or later (depending on the year/location), and usually 17 or 18 for women. So, I assume witches would get their traditional coming-of-age gift a year earlier when they become legal for marriage (mentioned it in my headcanon post).

How I would've set up Sam and The Avengers in Phase 4 and 5.
An incredibly long, and self-indulgent collection of my headcanons. 😅🤣😂
After reading @likeol 's post here, here's how I would've gone about setting up Sam and the new Avengers. This is just my opinion. Long post ahead.
In my ideal but still trying to be realistic, alternative world, I would've done this:
Falcon and the Winter Soldier needed to be a movie. Having it be a show fractured the general audience, many of whom still don't bother to watch the shows. Hiding the first chapter of Sam's arc as Cap on show damages the potential new Cap trilogy macro arc.
This movie should've released end of 2019 like Spiderman Far From Home (TFATWS is set 6 months post blip, FFH is set 8 months). Release it Sept/Oct. (Unlikely they'd release this the same year as Endgame, but I'm saying this with the full knowledge that COVID shut down theatres in March 2020 soooo... go with it lol)
Easily could've filmed this the same time as Infinty War/Endgame/reshoots, since Anthony and Sebastian were blipped and only in the final battle.
Working title is TFATWS. Then post Endgame comic con, big reveal, boom we tricked you CAP 4 BABYYYY!
Call it something like Captain America: Legacy or False Flag something idk. Something that either ties to the passing mantle theme or government manipulation/covert operations i.e. Walker
Since this is pre covid, we can now keep the original Flagsmasher plot lol! or strip it down a little and make Walker more overtly the villain. (I just hate him)
*Side note: did you know Far From Home is considered Phase 3 and not 4? I guess this hypothetical makes my Cap 4 movie end of Phase 3.
On to Phase 4! References!
After cinemas reopen, Shang Chi releases Sep 2021. Could maybe have included Sam in the post credit? Have him at that hologram meeting. Beaming in or in person, dont care.
Eternals released Nov 2021. Don't let them ignore Sam. Remember that bs 'Who's going to lead them?' and Ikarus going maybe me? Nah!
Hawkeye ended Dec 2021. Include Sam (and Bucky in the post credit at that terrible musical. It's funny! It would've made sitting through it bearable.
Ms Marvel started June 2022. Sam Wilson as Cap should've been represented at that AvengersCon. He wasn't even visible as Falcon. But easily could've just in passing shown the costume competition. Get creative. Maybe one fan is half-Falcon half-Cap suit, split down the middle. (Bonus: Have a SamCap cosplayer dragging a friend along who's just wrapped his arm in foil like those french guys off tiktok 😆)
I wouldn't care so much about What if episodes if we had these other references. But come on! Sam definitely should've been in these at least as Falcon.
Speaking of 2022, looks like we're due for Sam's 2nd Cap film! (It's been 2.5 years. Totally doable.)
This would make 4 MCU films in 2022 but idk it's post COVID. Roll them out.
Move Doctor Strange 2 to earlier in the year Feb/March idk, I didn't like that film 😅
May 6 is now free for Captain America: New World Order (you could still have Brave New World, but i always thought NWO was a better title. And it's from the comics)
Instead of the Hulk sequel plot (I don't really like the Leader I'm sorry BNW 😔), this should be following our Cap4. Still make it political espionage, still begin the 'restart the Avengers' request from the president, follow up on Sharon as Powerbroker. Personally, I'd tie in Rhodey's Armor War ideas too, because I want a bigger supporting cast of familiar faces.
Joaquin still gets injured here, because it's his first big fight and I love their conversation after
Maybe include an Ant Man cameo. Show Scott and Sam are still connected. Maybe even have Scott ask Sam about writing the foreword to his book! Which we'll then see the following year in Quantamania. 🤯
The post credit for this Cap5 is a first baby Avengers assemble moment. (From the above changes, he's met Shang Chi, Wong, knows Bruce, Scott and Hope. Already has Joaquin and Bucky (?) and Rhodey. It's a start!!
On to Phase 5!
Honestly, there's not much to do here. Mention Sam in Ant-man 3. During Scott's book signing
Thunderbolts, which I now decide is set first in 2025. That's the film that's dumped in February. Because it's not a summer worthy movie. 🤷‍♀️
Can stay the same but for adding a Sam cameo and tweaking the end credit scene where we replace it with this idea here (or similar idc) but since we the audience already know the REAL Avengers are operating since Cap5, this makes sense.
Don't know how to fix Bucky's bs choice. You could always just entirely replace him in Thunderbolts with Everett Ross like we just did here 😆 But at the VERY least don't stab Sam in the back by staying quiet when people insult him 🙄
OF COURSE, this whole rewrite is based on respecting Sam and ergo the New Avengers reveal likely wouldn't happen anyway. BUT if it did, at least Sam's Cap and team are coming in to defend.
Now Captain America 6! (It's been 3 years, but Sam is established on the big screen, and i'm being realistic in accounting for the actors and writers strike 🤣😂)
This becomes our May summer release. Essentially, this would be Avengers 4.5 in the same way that Cap3 was Avengers 2.5 given all the supporting characters. BUT that's just cos we need a team up movie before Doomsday and we also need to squash the Thunderbolts nonsense. Resolve that here, or at least develop it somehow.
Still have some big Avengers style action. Show the team dynamic under Sam's leadership. Add in Shuri!
This a new film so I have zero plot ideas 😆 but whatever happens, the post credit scene for THIS is now the Fantastic Four ship coming into orbit.
Annnnnd.... yeah. That's how I would've weaved Sam in through Phases 4 and 5, setting up Phase 6 Avengers.

Tom Riddle would definitely yearn for you. He would do anything so you can be his. Small things that aren’t seen at first.
Tom Riddle would memorize every little thing, every detail you said so he can buy and read your favorite book for example. He needs to know everything about you.
He keeps a small picture of you in his notebook. Not one you gave to him, no. You can’t know how far his affection goes. It’s a picture he took of you when you weren’t paying attention. Reading on your favorite spot, your face slightly smiling at what you were reading. It’s a small thing showing that he cares. Even if he doesn’t want anyone to know.
During meals, if you're beside him, he would put his hand on your thigh, if in a good mood. But yet, his face stays unreadable, keeping on the conversation he has while he is possibly teasing you underneath the table.
To blend in more and to empty his head, he would smoke (a lot). He likes the scent of tobacco. But, he would completely disagree with you smoking just one. Won’t ‘forbid’ it but would clearly judge you. As if the man didn’t smoke an entire pack per day.
Tom Riddle isn’t the type to like PDA (public display of affection). The thought of having people around you see that you’re his weakness makes him loathe every touch. But he is always there. Staying near so people know not to bother you.
Tom wouldn’t die for you, because he is afraid of death. But he would definitely kill for you. And with no regrets. Without you knowing of course, you’re too nice for your own good but he would definitely kill anyone threatening you.
He would definitely watch you sleep. Not in sinister way. But because he is kinda sleep deprived, he would take this opportunity to watch how beautiful you look when asleep. He would claim that it’s to make sure you’re alright but he just likes your peaceful face.
Even if he doesn’t like PDA, he is very possessive. And when he’s jealous, you can’t get away from his grip on your waist. He will make sure every living person will know you’re off limits, you’re his and only his.
The man has a big ego. Sometimes he even thinks of him as a god. And he doesn’t like to blend in with the ‘other people’. But with you it’s different. If he’s god, then you’re his goddess.
Tom Riddle doesn’t like losing control. Ever. But with you, everything comes with emotions he doesn’t usually have. Control slips from his hand and he’s raw to you. Especially in bed.
You’re his soft spot. There’s always a storm in his eyes, a sharpness in his movements and words. But his eyes land on you, everything softens just a bit. He doesn’t acknowledge it and doesn’t want anyone to notice it but you’re his soft spot, his weakness.
He is clearly an ‘ass man’. He loves the soft bump of your butt and loves to grab the cheeks of it. So, of course, his favorite position is doggy, so he can see and touch your ass all he wants.
Talking about sex, I think that unlike what we can think. He can give aftercare. Small yeah, but it’s Tom we’re talking about. If he cares about you (in his own twisted way), he would know what you like and do it so you’re happy.
Truthfully, he is rough. Using you like a stress relief. But isn’t it like you like it?
He likes to ruin you. Just enough so you’ll know who you belong to. He’ll tease, make you beg, break you. You’re his to use and will make sure you know it.
In rare moments, he would let you see his vulnerable part. And when this happens he’s the softest you’ll ever see him. Kisses without hurry, gentle and almost loving. He would even fall asleep on your breast, listening to your heart beats like you do usually on his chest. You’ll then fall asleep playing with his hair. But in the morning, you’ll find his side of the bed empty and Tom back to normal. Cold.

Your fingers thrummed against your book, the cover a tantalizing display of danger and desire. And that was just the damn cover, the rest of the inside...
If you weren't a seasoned pro at reading smut in public, this would have made you blush. But instead, it made you think of other things, things that made you feel a bit heated, squirming in your seat on the couch while you studied, Curtis sitting in his reading chair not too far away.
His reading glasses on meant that his focus was currently on his own book, the heavy hardcover easily held in his hand as if it weighed nothing.
Curtis's comfy grey sweats and a tank that showed off his muscled shoulders and upper arms, offering peeks of his tattoos while also letting his chain hang free where he normally confined it in his shirt, were thoroughly distracting, though. As well as the vibration of your phone next to you.
You knew what it was. You, Claude, Yona and Ella had been in a four way group chat sending each other reels and tiktoks all week. Booktok was becoming the highlight dominating the conversation lately.
Maybe it's just been to long for me since I've been laid, but this does something to me. Ella wrote with an attached video. You were sure to keep the volume down, but watched it a couple of times. "The ladies sending you wholesome ideas again?" The sudden sound of Curtis's voice made you glance up at him over the phone, a knowing look with a grin making you bite your bottom lip, smirking a bit. You've shown him a few, the two of you testing the idea of maybe playing one of them out together.
"Nope..." You flung the phone aside without elaborating and pushed yourself to a stand, hand outstretched for his. "But I can teach you what they have sent me." Your fingers wiggled enticingly, and he grasped your hand and pulled you instead into his lap, wrapping you in his arms while he nuzzled your neck with his beard.
"You gonna give me a lesson, Miss Y/L/N? I always had a thing for the teacher." He nipped the little sensitive spot that had you feeling flushed before he eased you up, easily keeping you wrapped in his arms while letting you lead him where you want him to go, right to the floor to celeing bookcase lining the livingroom wall.
"Then you are going to love this Curtis." You placed your back to the bookcase and tugged him to stand in front of you. "Okay so-" You grasped his wrist and lifted it just over your head and made him lean his forearm against the shelf. "So... normally this is done in the doorway, like you leaning in against it and pinning me in place, but... I like the bookshelf better." You tilted your head to look up at him, biting your lip again at the position it had you two in. "And that's all there really is to it."
"Hmm, seems simple enough." His other hand skimmed up the side of your thigh to rest against your waist, where he squeezed assuredly. "But I feel like we can do better, Pretty Girl." His mouth ghosted against yours before stepping away.
"Can I record it? Just for us?" You flashed your phone, and Curtis held out his hand for it, which you didn't hesitate to let slide into his palm.
"Of course, Pretty Girl, you know I wanna watch it later." He got it angled just right and before you knew it Curtis was stalking towards you, suddenly feeling bigger and slightly intimidating in a way that made you feel hot and bothered, your steps slightly staggered back, your head tilting back to look up at him till he was in your space, his hand quickly snaking around to your back to keep you from bumping to hard against the shelves but his other one leaning over your head, bringing him over you and leaning in closer.
With his hand at the small of your back, he could pull your lower body in against his while he continued to lean in closer, his forehead leaning to yours. Lips finding yours, his kiss turned addictive as you fell into it, letting him give as much as he wanted before pulling away. "So something like this, Pretty Girl?"
"Y-yeah." You blinked up at him and let your hands run up his firm chest before exhaling with a grin. "Just like that." He stepped away again, and you moved past him for your phone when a hand grasped the back of your neck, swinging you back into place. Once more, your back hit the bookshelf, a bit harder this time with a surprised oof sound, and he once more leaned his arm over your head, claiming the space with his presence. This time his hand against the back of your neck lifted your head up, tilting your face till he could place a truly breathtaking kiss on you. His tongue claimed yours, and a sultry moan escaped, that he inhaled. His taunt body was pressed against yours, hot and solid against your soft curves.
Your hands fisted into his shirt for something to hold onto, completely forgetting the game you two were playing. You arched into him for more till his fingers delved into the hair close to your scalp, tugging enough to break you apart from him, both of you panting.
You knew you must have looked disheveled, totally caught by surprise. Wide-eyed, you looked up at him, seeing a sense of accomplishment flashing in his blue eyes, the tips of his ears a bright red, and you knew if you were to see the back of his neck, a blush would be creeping up it. "That was an A-plus effort, Curtis." You whispered, giggling as you let your grip loosen, but damned it he was done, cause his hands fit on the back of your thighs, lifting you so your legs immediately wrapped around his waist and his chest pressed against yours to pin you to the book shelf, both of you eye level.
You could also feel how hard he was pressing against your core, which you couldn't resist rocking yourself against him. A deep rumbling groan escaped him, his gaze turning dark and wanting. "I feel like extra credit is needed. How about I make you come like this Pretty Girl?"

I love these videos and have often pictured them recording themselves doing the challenges. Curtis is always happy to get his Honey all flustered for him, plus seeing you happy is such a turn-on for him.
And as far as masked games, oh, absolutely. A game of cat and mouse might be in order for them, chase through the house, or maybe through the woods? Curtis can bring a mask on a camping trip Im gonna send them on.

I think that Honey would be so much more open to asking for these kinds of moments with Curtis, as he encourages them. I have mentioned before that Curtis makes a point to read Honey's books as well. Not all of them, but if he sees her taking a special interest in one, he is sure to check it out for himself.
It will always make her flustered, but it will get easier to ask for it. The results? Either giggling at the silliness or turned on and unable to keep their hands off one another. The best times is when it's both those reactions at once.

I don’t understand how people say harry acting is passable in Dwd.. may be I don’t have much knowledge but i liked how harry has acted .. seeing harry on stage and knowing that he acted in such films is unbelievable.. he did a good job in dwd, the fact that the movie lacked proper plot or it didn’t relay what it intended was not his fault, he did good.. I sometimes thought may be because i read the book i felt it different but there are sometimes i felt the disconnect when i watched my policeman.. while in few scenes he kicked the ball out of the park in some it felt amateur.. i agree that it depends on the director, i found his acting in dwd good..
I didn't see DWD, so I can only go on what others told me. And I've had people say they thought he was good in it. And others say there were parts where you could see he was acting, or that it was awkward. I think the fact that the script was a mess and there was so much nonsense surrounding the production and promo of the movie (not to mention a general sense of people wanting to lash out at Harry over all sorts of things), he was bound to get ripped apart. But people really should have seen how almost all the problems with that film involved the director.
I think H is one of those people with a natural talent for acting. And he's got that kind of bravery that makes it possible to do a good job even without a lot of training. But, without a tight script and a director who knows what they're doing, it's really easy for him to lose his way. I think he was excellent in parts of MP, like astonishingly good. And there are other parts where I cringed a little. I also read the book, and the problems I had with the film lay in the script. Which, I guess, also leads back to the director. I don't know Michael Grandage's work, but it seemed that there were scenes where H deeply understood who this character was, and other moments that felt he could have used a push in the right direction from the director.
Whatever the case may be, I wonder if he'll try acting again. I hope he does. But maybe more of an ensemble cast, or something where he can show his sense of humor. It's possible the backlash was too much for him, though. We'll see.

I’m always down to discuss plot, characters, mechanics, worldbuilding, any of it. TTRPGs/CRPGs and sci-fi/fantasy books + movies are the center of my wheelhouse, but honestly I just love having in-depth discussions about things.
