become an academic weapon 📚🔫✨

hi all !!

with my GCSEs this year, and only a few weeks before back to school, I decided to really lock in yesterday 🫣

so I thought I'd take all the info I've come across while scrolling through studytok and put it into a little post for everyone looking to improve in their studies (& for my benefit as well 🙈)

motivation

this is probably the biggest factor when it comes to locking into your studies, motivation can quite literally make or break your academic achievements (😦)

so, its very important you motivate yourself, and moreover, stay motivated 😭

i've made it sound daunting but motivating yourself is lowkey easier than you think, here's a few ways to do it:

picturing yourself in 10 years, where all your studying and hard work has paid off - you can't be that person without doing the work that they did 😬

you can also do the opposite of the above - imagine how disappointed you'll be if you didn't work as hard as you could have and failed

"revenge studying" - the most toxic yet probably the most widely effective technique - working hard so you can beat than the people who are better than you

make studying aesthetic - create pinterest boards, look at quotes and tiktoks, make success your greatest desire

make it an addiction - if you're bored? study. had a bad day? nothing like setting yourself up for the best future. having a great day? go make it better by making yourself smarter.

get a motivational study app - i LOVE 'Study Bunny' I've been using it for two days now and it genuinely motivates me to be more productive to keep my bunny happy 🙃

resources

obviously, you need some help where you can get it despite all the controversies surrounding studying and the use of the internet, there are some amazing online resources you can use that will actively help you 📚

Quizlet/Anki - both of these flashcard platforms are incredibly useful - Quizlet is a fun platform and you can search for flashcards made by other people - Anki, in my opinion, is better than Quizlet for memorising, and you can import flashcards from Quizlet.

Mindnote - A mindmap making software online, a user-friendly interface + is quick and easy to make them - Great for visual learners

YouTube - the teachers on YouTube are incredibly helpful and can explain any topics you're confused about very quickly and very thoroughly

Spark Notes - great for English literature, with in-depth analysis of your texts and modern translations

Physics & Maths Tutor - free past papers and topic questions for core subjects and a few others, great for active recall

Study Bunny/Flora - helps keep track of your progress and keeps you motivated, I recommend Study Bunny because I can see how much work I've done of each subject and tick off things on my checklist

these are just a few out of many other resources so go do some of your own research, especially if there are websites that help with a specific subject

techniques

different study techniques work best for different people, no technique is a one-size-fits-all, some people are visual learners, others perform best by memorising & etc.

active recall - the only one-size-fits-all method - is a cognitive function that you carry out to remember things in tests, so practising this is a must -> the best way to do this is by completing topic questions and past papers using minimal amounts of notes. basically just testing yourself before the actual test

Spaced-out revision - one of the best ways to make sure things stick in your mind, revise a topic/subject and revisit it every few days, eg. 1, 3, 5, 9, 15, 30; and by the 30-day mark it should be stuck in your mind because your brain believes its something that you need to know in the long run and stores it in your long term memory

Flashcards - great to memorise content for the test, especially subjects that are tested with orals

Scribble method - scribbling on a piece of paper while revising the content in any form, reading, listening, etc. helps your brain store the information you're consuming more effectively

Feynman method - basically just explaining the topic you're revising to someone, this helps you develop your understanding and catches out any areas you're unsure about to revise later

making mindmaps - this is great for visual learners, especially if you use different colours for each section of the map so that you can associate each concept with each colour and recall them easily

again, those are just a few that come to mind. do your own research and find out what works best for you 😇

while studying

knowing how to study effectively is also a crucial aspect of success (obviously) 🤭

here are a few tips:

don't listen to music with lyrics, instead you can listen to lofi tracks, cafe/library asmr, brown noise, jazz music (my favourite)

set yourself a study slot, like 2 hours every day at a specific time & set a focus filter on your phone for the duration of your study time

make an aesthetic/cute study space so you can enjoy your time in that space and it doesn't feel like a chore

get a whiteboard to make learning more interactive & fun

light a specific candle whenever you're studying so your brain knows to associate the scent with working

have regular breaks eg. every half hour for 5-10 mins

reward yourself afterwards, so you associate studying with a good experience

consistency is key, the more you study the easier & more fun it becomes 🙃 the more you study the more you are likely to succeed and fulfil your dreams ✨

remember though, academics is not everyone's thing:

"you cannot judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree"

everyone is good at something, and it doesn't make anyone lesser or greater 🫶

if you try your best, that is all that matters 🫠

Inspiration I had since you sent the request, time on the other hand I just had now 😀🔫

I honestly wished I could get money from this and never go to college again (I love what I study, don't get me wrong, but OH GODS how tiring it is)

Anyway, sweet Helion coming to rescue my mental health, this is actually from the same universe as this one but isn't necessarily a continuation

Also, I don't know why, but braids match Day Court's aesthetic SO MUCH, any kind of braid, honestly, and I love them for that

Serendipity

The day started hot, and you felt even hotter every day your pregnancy advanced. Now in a sense of feeling sexy, more like overheating. You spent some vacation days in Night Court during their lovely winter, the cold definitely helping your morning sickness, during spring break you enjoyed it very much in your own Court, all the fruits and veggies that only your home could provide you. And then summer came. And now you felt like a pudding melting under the sun.

Luckily another reason for you to love your Court appeared during this time: the clothes. Everything was so light and soft that honestly made you love your home even more. You woke up sweating with Helion's arms around you and quickly took a shower to free yourself from the droplets of sweat. You chose one of the many robes in light shiny colors to put it on, your belly, almost eight months in, looked pretty and roundy on the dresses, making you even happier.

Even if you weren't born part of the royalty you could swear you were glowing. You put your hair in two big braids and tied them up in your head, making a crown which made your face show up more. All of that time took your husband to only wake up and change his clothes. You made him sit between your legs in bed while you braid his hair and he played with the hem of your dress.

-You're ready for today? - Asked you once you finished, kissing the top of his head.

-What do we have today? - Honestly could be anything, your mind hasn't been the same since the pregnancy.

-Lucien is here - He announced, as if it would tell you everything you needed to know.

-Oh? For what? - Your dearest son has been coming in and out to Court for literally everything. You didn't feel like working? He covered you. You and Helion were on vacation? He brings all his friends and they work in command for a while. Another commemorative party? He was here to plan and make sure everything was perfect.

-Decide the baby's name? - The phrase came out in a question, and your eyes almost popped out of your face with realization.

-I forgot that - You whispered more to yourself than to him, but Helion heard somehow and laughed at you, running to hug you from behind and kiss your entire exposed neck.

-Don't worry, me and Lucien made sure to choose at least a hundred names each - His hands caressing your belly made you relax in his embrace, and you let him guide you to one of the solars in the palace where your oldest son was already expecting both of you for breakfast.

Your eyes lightened up in seconds just from the sight of the amazing table waiting for you to devour it completely. As the three of you sat around the table laden with sweets and treats, Lucien and Helion began to discuss the important matter at hand - the name of the baby you were carrying. Helion, being the father, was brimming with excitement and eager to pick the perfect name that would symbolize his love for his second child.

Helion's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm as he suggested names rooted in the traditions of the Day Court, tying it to their history and ancestry. Lucien, who was a blend of both Day Court and Autumn Court, chimed in with suggestions that would embrace the uniqueness of his sibling's heritage.

And well… you were happy with the food. As you haven't prepared anything to contribute with the discussion you sat happily with the amount of good candies and fruit flavored foods at your disposal. Your pregnancy was being gentle to you and food tastes were only highlighted to you (like fruit and sweets) and the only thing you had to leave behind was some scents in your bathroom. And the heat.

The conversation was lively, and the atmosphere was filled with love and anticipation. Helion, always the smart one, spoke about the significance of names in the world, and how they often carried stories and meanings that could shape a person's destiny. Lucien shared tales from his own travel experiences, highlighting how names held a special place in everyone's minds.

As they went through a multitude of names, each one sparking excitement in Helion and Lucien's eyes, but none of them felt like "the one" just yet. You chuckled to yourself, fitting more food inside of you and feeling the baby kick as if sharing in the excitement of choosing its own name.

As the morning went on, the discussions veered into playful nicknames and endearing terms they could use for the little one. Helion suggested "Sunlight" for the way the child would light up their lives, while Lucien countered with "Moonbeam" for the glow that would guide them through the darkness. Ridiculous and corny, to say the least.

At some point of the talk, Helion and Lucien began to consider combining their own names to create a unique one for the child. "Helien" was the first suggestion, but it didn't quite feel right. Then they tried "Lucion," which seemed a bit too complicated. Or horrendous, in your words.

-Okay, so, we'll finish this with a top five girls name, and then we can start with the boys name - Lucien said, finally closing the notebook that contained a ridiculous amount of names written in it and taking a sip of his drink.

-We won't discuss boys names - You finally gave your opinion, making both of them turn their heads to you, confused at your sudden interruption.

-Darling, you said you didn't want to know the gender until the baby is born, we need to discuss and decide both - Helion spoke, bringing his hand to your tummy for the thousandth time since the conversation started.

-But I'm telling you this is a girl. I'm sure - You weren't backing down on your decision, it was a girl and no more conversation needed.

-You can't be completely sure so we'll have boys names just in case - Lucien said, only awakening a anger you didn’t know you had.

-I'm the one creating this child, okay? We've already discussed this, it's a girl - You put an end to the conversation.

-We? Who is "we"? - Your husband asked, confused since you and him never discussed gender preferences. But you had yours.

-Me and the baby, I told her that I wanted a baby girl and she agreed, being a male isn't cool and I already told her that - You said with all the confidence you could master in that moment, both males fighting to not laugh at your antics.

-But isn't it better if we have a boy name just for precaution? - Lucien tried once again, the look you gave him was enough to make him sit back in his chair and shut up.

-No! We don't need precaution, I'm telling you it's a girl - Your stress level was getting higher every time they went against your decision. You weren't completely sure, obviously. But you were sure!

-Okay then, a girl it is - Helion said, giving up on the discussion and holding you in his arms, filling your face with thousands of kisses - But if it's a boy we're gonna name him Helion the Second.

-As you wish, it'll be a girl anyway - You mumbled for yourself, internally making a note to choose a gender neutral name in the end. Just for… you know, precaution :)

what kind of island?

live in a ship or in a house?

in a village, town or a remote place?

I’m not an expert at the different seas and reading about it confuses me so I’ll give just a general idea of where they’re live😆

Kizaru ✨: he would live in a fancy house that’s close to the new Marineford that’s probably not too far from the city where there’s great restaurants and bars.

Akainu🌋: he resides at Marineford during the week in apartment that has all that he needs and on weekends, he’s in the countryside where he lives in his traditional Japanese style home with lots of plants on a small island.

Ryokugyu 🌱: he lives on an island that is secluded from the rest of the world and is overgrown with all of his plants. He has a modern style house and even a vineyard. Akainu loves to visit him there…just to see the plants of course.

Fujitora 🐅: he lives close to Marineford because it’s easier for him to navigate around and he enjoys the soba restaurants there. He has a simple home with some plants that Ryokugyu had gifted him, they are a way for him to spy on Fujitora to find out if he is okay.

Sir Crocodile 🐊: he has various mansions across the world but he does fancy staying in the high rise posh apartments in his casinos because they’re easier for him to monitor how his various business ventures are doing and being in the city makes him quite happy as well.

Doflamingo Donquixote 🦩: he lives in a Spanish mansion in Dressrosa which is also part of the palace. He redecorated to fit his aesthetic.

Benn Beckman 🔫: he lives on the Red Hair pirate ship for most of his days but when he does get a chance to leave, he lives in a small town cottage that even has livestock that he cares for.

Katakuri Charlotte 🍡: he lives in the flour town of which he is the minister of. He lives in a house that’s not made of sweets (or donuts or I dare say) surprisingly. His siblings love visiting him though just for chats or to get big bro cuddles.

Killer🔪: he lives on the Kidd pirates ship all the time but he eventually wants to have a small home on the beach one day.

Kaido🐉: well he had one of the most epic homes ever that took him 5 years to finish until some terrorist named Luffy and 17 other dudes jumped him on the roof!

King 👑 : he spends his time from Onigashima and Skypedia. He loves living in the skies, he never really liked the ocean from the time he was a kid.

Queen👑: he lives on an island that has the best nightlife ever! He needs space away from where he works.

Izou🔫🔫: he lives on his ship with his crew but he does wish to live back in the countryside, he misses it so much.

Dragon D Monkey 🐉🐒: he lives in a pretty nice home that’s where the Revolutionary army resides but it has a nice garden where he can relax and have his private time.

Oven Charlotte 🍞: he lives in the Browned food island and lives in a cute home that’s very much like his aesthetic. He also has a real nice kitchen that only he’s allowed to use! He’s very particular!

Buggy🤡: he lives on an island and his home is styled like a circus tent where the rest of his crew lives too. He loves everything about it!

Marco the Phoenix 🦅: he lives on an island in a simple cottage not too far from his hospital that he built from scratch. He really enjoys not being at sea anymore.

Eustass Kidd🤘🎸: he lives on his ship with his crew and absolutely loves it. He’s always been an on the move kind of guy.

Rosinantè Donquixote aka Cora-San💕: he lives with his dad, Sengoku. He never liked being alone ever since him and Doffy got separated so he never moved out either. He also likes being dotted on by his Sen-dad since Doffy got a lot more attention than him when they were kids.

Who’s-Who ❤️‍🔥👹: after Onigashima was destroyed, he moved to an island that’s pretty small and livable. He doesn’t want to deal with too many people but somehow the Tobiroppo found him and they all live together in a pretty nice house with lots of cats around.

Gecko Moria🦇: he still lives in his ship/island even after that terrorist, Luffy invaded it. He’s still not fucking over it and literally goes in the opposite direction every time he hears the Strawhats are near him.

Iceburg💜: he lives in his mansion on Water 7. He’s upgraded his security after the last time he got assaulted and shot in his own damn house. He’s fucking over it.

Gild Tesoro⚜️🏅: he lives on his ship because it’s literally an island! Everything is super fancy and gold. Only his baby girls can come visit him at home quarters though😉

Rob Lucci🐆: he lives in a very fancy and pristine apartment on an island close to the World Government HQ. Let’s just say no one has seen in the inside of Lucci’s home except for the cleaning lady and Hattori.

are they associated with a certain color? what color do they wear the most?

not really sure, actually! i've only drawn him a handful of times and only one of those times was colored in, so i haven't quite figured out his color palette yet. desaturated purple comes to mind when i think on it, though

what sort of music would they like? have you thought about what genres or bands do they lean towards? do they have a favorite song?

His music taste is what i can only describe as "my real life father's mp3 player on shuffle" which is. Not anything that anyone on here has any frame of reference for!! But that would include, but isn't limited to: Cat Stevens, Manu Chao, Sheryl Crow, Third Eye Blind, Fatboy Slim, Fleetwood Mac, Traffic, Green Day, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Shpongle.

weapon of choice? any particular reason they chose their weapon?

Uuhhhh technically his character sheet lists his weapon as his walking stick, (it only does 1 damage) (he never uses it as a weapon, he has never once in his history on a monster hunting team hit anything with his walking stick)

how crafty/resourceful are they?

Middlingly average, for the most part. He's much better at navigating problems than actually solving them; he'll look towards his team members if something needs fixed.

how do they typically dress? does their wardrobe lean more towards practicality or aesthetics?

Sweaters, slacks, polo shirts, sneakers. Retired guy in american suburbia swag.

how do they wear their hair? do they care a lot how their hair looks?

he keeps it somewhat short, but he doesn't really care how it looks anymore. he's grateful to still have most of it, so he just kinda lets it do what it wants. he also used to have a well-maintained goatee before his time in the Other Place, but since returning to the real world, he's only done the bare minimum of keeping his facial hair mostly trim.

favorite animal? why?

not a huge animal guy, honestly! he finds the presence of birds to be extremely reassuring, though.

do they have a nickname? who gave it to them? if it's not derived from their real name, what's the story behind it?

i guess kenny is technically a nickname (he always introduces himself as kenneth, and everyone else always decides "oh this man is a kenny actually"), but he's much more of a giver of nicknames than anything else

favorite food? least favorite? are they a picky eater? do they have any dietary restrictions?

always a big fan of fresh baked goods, especially blueberry muffins. he has some challenges with eating these days-- after having spent five years in the Other Place not needing to eat or sleep, stuff tastes weird to him now. He's got a mental list of safe foods, but he tries not to be a bother when other people are cooking, so he'll try his best with what's available to him.

if they wear jewelry, what kind? do they prefer silver or gold? do they have a favorite gem?

what do they have in common with you? how are they different? would you get along with them?

i gave him my fear of being forgotten and love for terrible dad jokes, what else could he need?

we're actually more different than alike, i think. he's just lived an extremely different life than me; he's a 65 year old heterosexual retired dentist who has been married and has a daughter who is my age. i am literally none of those things. but i think we would get along really well; he's based heavily on some of my own extended family who i already like fairly well, lol

how long have they been around? do you know their birthday? is their birthday the day you made them or another day? what do they think of celebrating birthdays?

i've had him as a character since... roughly 2020? but he was extremely different in that iteration (a haunting-the-narrative NPC in the motw campaign i ran and have since completed). his current iteration came about earlier this year when i rewrote him from the ground up to be a motw player character. also his birthday is march 17th, 1959 and birthdays are... complicated. if someone tried to throw him a party he would be GRATEFUL, and he would offer to celebrate someone else's birthday with them, but he doesn't know how to think of his own birthday anymore. he spent ages being extremely unmoored from the passage of time, you know? makes it hard

what languages do they speak? how fluently?

fluent in english (his first language), more than a little bit of mandarin (from his grandparents) and spanish (he had some patients who only spoke spanish; he always made an effort to be able to directly communicate with them whenever possible). the latter two are largely forgotten from disuse, though

are they any good with numbers?

he's actually pretty good with numbers, but it doesn't come up very often anymore. he's itching for the day that someone comes to him for help with their taxes

how big or small is their family? who did they live with growing up? do they live with anyone now?

very, very small. he was his parents' only child, he had a language barrier between him and one set of grandparents, and he never knew the other set. his late wife had a big family, who he has since fallen out of contact with (with the exception of his beloved nephew charlie). he has one daughter, who he is trying to reconnect with. he currently lives alone.

do they have any pets? what do they call their pets?

no pets, and he would never ever ever consider franklin the potted plant to be a pet. that's his TRAUMA BONDED BEST FRIEND

how did they spend their summers/free time as a child?

wildly unsafe summer camps of the 1960s/1970s. here you go child, have some lead paint to play with

their opinion on lying, stealing, and killing?

top three things to make kenny disappointed in you

are they quick to anger? what sets them off?

very, very slow to anger. will ALWAYS give someone the benefit of the doubt, but if they really are in the wrong, he will bottle it up for as long as possible. when he finally breaks, it's hysterical and venomous. he generally hates being angry more than he hates the things that *make* him angry

if applicable, can they drive? if they have their own, what color is their vehicle? is the inside neat and tidy, or a mess?

he's got a royal blue toyota prius :]

it's pretty tidy inside, for the most part. gotta make sure there's space for passengers inside, it's not a large vehicle to begin with!!

their favorite place to be?

alice's house, with everyone else there with him

do they sleep well at night?

HA, no, lmao

5 years not needing to sleep will fuck up your sleep schedule once you finally have to again. he wakes up at odd hours, falls asleep at even odder ones, and has crazy weird dreams (which he then has to write down in his dream journal before he can go back to sleep again)

how would you describe their voice? can they sing?

quick and flighty, like he has to get his words out as fast as he can before something stops him. he stammers a lot. he's not a great singer by any means, but he's not immune to singing along to a favorite tune in the car or in the kitchen.

do they have any creative hobbies? (art, writing, music, etc)

he tried out a lot of different hobbies while trying to adjust once his daughter moved out, but none of them stuck. he tries to augment his dream journal with drawings whenever possible, so i guess that counts?

how good/bad is their hearing? what about their eyesight?

hearing is actually pretty good for his age; eyesight isn't great though. he's been a glasses wearer since the second grade, and it's only gotten worse as he's aged

how do they move? are they clumsy? light on their feet? do they use mobility aids?

he's not quick by any means, but he can get around just fine. he has a chronically bad knee from a car crash earlier in his life that was exacerbated by an injury during an encounter with the lighthouse keeper. he walks with a cane on days when he needs extra support.

if applicable, do they have a favorite sport? do they play any sports or prefer to watch?

he understands the appeal of sports, but was never very athletic and never really got into watching them. he'll still tune into the olympics though, just to see what crazy things they're doing with spheres and gravity in athletics these days

how do they show that they care about someone? how do they express that they don't like someone?

He cares a lot about most people he meets, so it is generally easier to tell when he *doesn't* like someone; his warm, inviting manner turns curt and closed.

are they associated with any particular element (air, earth, fire, water)?

Air, probably? I've no grounds for this, it just feels right

do they smell like anything notable?

Uuuuuuuuuh i dunno, come give uncle kenny a whiff and tell me what you think

do they like receiving gifts? giving gifts? what is their ideal gift?

He LOVES giving and receiving gifts, he eats that shit up, but if he's the only one receiving and not giving anyone anything he starts to feel really guilty about it. His ideal gift is something small yet thoughtful. He's going to be thinking about the magic walking cane that Charlie gave him forEVER

do they have any habits that aren't particularly self-destructive, just maybe odd?

He carries around a potted plant like his life depends on it, he's removed the doors from every room and cabinet in his apartment, and he hesitates before passing though any sort of entryway

if applicable, how would your other characters describe them? i mean specifically the people around them.

Mark's the only other one who has met him, and he would describe him as "uh. Nice, i guess? He talks too much, and he's kinda weird like he's on a different planet than everyone else, but he seems... harmless."

how would your character describe themselves? it doesn't have to line up with how they really are.

"Who, me? Ah, I'm just some kook who got lost once, haha!"

do they ever return home?

He's tried. That house isn't really home anymore; home feels more like the people he's with nowadays.

god this took me too long lmao but I DID IT

are they associated with a certain color? what color do they wear the most?

Yellow! Warm yellow like sunshine is the color I associate with Charlie. He sticks with wearing a cooler palette when it comes to clothes though, definitely a lot of green, some blues, but a lot of brown and black.

what sort of music would they like? have you thought about what genres or bands do they lean towards? do they have a favorite song?

Charlie is a sucker for anything that's like, soft and orchestral, some folksy type stuff too. Think Hozier, The Civil Wars, The Amazing Devil, stuff like that.

weapon of choice? any particular reason they chose their weapon?

Well, Charlie's our resident magic boy, but he uses it less as an outright weapon and more of a protection/redirection type deal. His character sheet says he has a ritual knife but the idea of Charlie stabbing anything sounds so impossible.

I think I can say with confidence that Charlie is able to come up with unconventional solutions for problems, more often than not using magic, but he's not above using more mundane tools as well!

how do they typically dress? does their wardrobe lean more towards practicality or aesthetics?

Think about a history grad assistance in the 90s. Turtlenecks, jackets, cardigans, nice slacks, and he wears round wire framed glasses. He definitely leans towards practicality, but he knows the basics of how to throw an outfit together so that he doesn't look totally goofy.

how do they wear their hair? do they care a lot how their hair looks?

short on the sides and in the back, but he's got a fluff of ginger curls on top. he mostly just makes sure it's not overly tangled, not laying weird.

favorite animal? why?

Owls, he loves owls so much, he finds them fascinating and he loves how soft their feathers are.

do they have a nickname? who gave it to them? if it's not derived from their real name, what's the story behind it?

Charlie loves fruit and game meat, often together! and Charlie is a halfway decent cook and baker so he'll make a mean blueberry pie and he can do some magical (heheh) things with venison.

Charlie always has a kind of unreal number of rings on his fingers, multiple on each finger, but most of them are fairly slender so they don't end up looking that bulky. Silver and iron for protection against various supernatural/fae beings and such.

uh we're both touch starved gingers with mommy issues? I think we would get along for the most part, but in small doses. I'm too abrasive for Charlie and Charlie's too soft for me.

how long have they been around? do you know their birthday? is their birthday the day you made them or another day? what do they think of celebrating birthdays?

I decided at least that Charlie is a Pisces, I suppose now I'll hammer down a specific date. March 15th! It's not the day I made him, I officially made him uhhhh back in 2021? he was extremely different in his first iteration though, I made him for a play by post motw campaign that fizzled out very quickly, and now he's in another one! as far as celebrating birthdays, they've always been a rather large affair for his family but he personally prefers a quieter celebration, dinner and a movie type stuff

what languages do they speak? how fluently?

English and Gaelic fluently, small amount of Latin for magic reasons

are they any good with numbers?

He's....adequate? He can do basic math but it was never his absolute favorite subject in school. He can calculate tips at restaurants in his head though!

Charlie has a very large family. he's only got three siblings, but he's got a bunch of cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents and second cousins and in laws and the list just goes on, he doesn't even know how far his family reaches.

do they have any pets? what do they call their pets?

Charlie does not have any pets, he worries that he's too busy to properly care for them, but he does have a habit of trying to befriend birds, especially crows and owls

how did they spend their summers/free time as a child?

before his magic really began to manifest, he would spend a lot of time helping his mother bake in the kitchen and help take care of the couple goats and sheep that they had. and of course he'd play with his siblings, usually out in the fields, rolling down hills and playing in the creeks and whatnot. but as he got older he spent a lot more time alone :)

their opinion on lying, stealing, and killing?

Charlie doesn't personally enjoy any of these, but as much as he tries to avoid them, he does understand that there's a time and place for everything. killing less so than the other two, because he really thinks there's always another solution before that.

are they quick to anger? what sets them off?

Charlie doesn't get necessarily angry, but when he gets overstimulated then he can get very frustrated and irritable and snippy.

if applicable, can they drive? if they have their own, what color is their vehicle? is the inside neat and tidy, or a mess?

Charlie can drive, and he does have his own car, a simple dark blue sedan. it is clean, but he often has books scattered across the backseat

their favorite place to be?

Alice's house with everyone there, or Tuck's place, or anywhere with a lot of books

do they sleep well at night?

depends on the day really, but he gets cold so easily so it definitely helps if he either has someone next to him or if he has enough blankets

how would you describe their voice? can they sing?

Charlie has a somewhat higher pitched voice, but it's very melodic in nature, and he can halfway carry a tune, but he tends to hum rather than sing.

do they have any creative hobbies? (art, writing, music, etc)

I'm counting baking in this, otherwise all that boy does is read lol

how good/bad is their hearing? what about their eyesight?

Charlie wears glasses and is pretty farsighted, but his hearing is average for someone of his age

Despite his excessively long limbs, he's actually somewhat graceful, but it's only because he is hyper aware of his movements to avoid accidental magicks

a stiff breeze would bowl that boy over, he doesn't not play sports and he finds no appeal to them, but he would absolutely go to a friend's game if they asked.

how do they show that they care about someone? how do they express that they don't like someone?

Charlie is a giver, he loves giving gifts. Whether it's a healing balm, a trinket, or baked goods, he puts incredible thought into the things he gives others. If Charlie doesn't like someone...to be honest I think he would just say it in the least confrontational way possible. Like, "I don't think we would be good as friends, or acquaintances, so we should part ways now"

are they associated with any particular element (air, earth, fire, water)?

Hmmm. Gotta be water/air for Charlie. He is the frighteningly still air just before a tornado, the cool breeze of spring, the gentle splashing creek, and the sudden riptide.

do they smell like anything notable?

I think Charlie always has a freshly baked smell about him on account of all the baking. Beneath that, something distinctly other. The current of magic that flows through him, like the smell of fireworks.

do they like receiving gifts? giving gifts? what is their ideal gift?

Despite his love of giving gifts, he always gets so shy when someone tries to give him something. It's easier when it's something that's more sentimental rather than like, material value. Every time Tuck brings him a cool rock or something like that genuinely just makes Charlie's heart sing.

do they have any habits that aren't particularly self-destructive, just maybe odd?

The stimming he does with his rings has the potential to be destructive, both to the self and to others, but it's not inherently dangerous

if applicable, how would your other characters describe them? i mean specifically the people around them.

none of my other characters have met the noodle boy yet!

how would your character describe themselves? it doesn't have to line up with how they really are.

"I, well, I'm a boy? I guess? A man, rather, I am an adult. And I um, I'm a redhead? I'm sorry I'm really not sure what kind of answer you're looking for here, I'm just uh...I'm Charlie?"

Charlie goes to visit his blood relatives every few years, but that hasn't been home for a long, long time. Home is weekly dinners at Alice's. Home is in Tuck's arms, Alice's gruff silence, Kenny's terrible jokes, Nessie's singing.

I associate her with maroon, gunmetal, navy blue. She wears mostly blues and greys, some black. She has a yellow tank top that used to be white. None of her white clothes are white anymore, tinged pink by blood or grey by oil.

2. what sort of music would they like? have you thought about what genres or bands do they lean towards? do they have a favorite song?

She likes heavy metal. A silent enjoyer of dad rock. She doesn't usually put on music while she works because she likes to be able to hear her surroundings, but you can sometimes find her whistling or humming. She doesn't know the names of songs but i think her favourite is the entire Rush album "Moving Pictures" which she might think is just one really long song.

3. weapon of choice? any particular reason they chose their weapon?

4. how crafty/resourceful are they?

Possible the most in the world. If you're looking for weapons. Alice excells at stripping things down to useful parts, at repurposing. Duct tape is her best friend. She makes things that work. For how long, it doesn't matter. She'll just keep fixing.

5. how do they typically dress? does their wardrobe lean more towards practicality or aesthetics?

100% practicality. Pockets. Durability. Warmth. Her three tenets. The first time she acquired her own clothes she looked insane.

shorn. she shaves it down every so often and cuts it again once it starts bugging her. she doesn't like it long enough to grab, and she's annoyed by hair tickling her neck when she's working. other than that the appearance couldn't matter less to her. (at least, not anymore)

i. really don't think so? nicknames just slide off alice like water. she doesn't respond to them. her name is alice.

she's partial to meat and potatoes. mac n cheese. she loves pie. diner food is always a hit. not a big raw veggie enjoyer, also not a fan of "complicated" foods. if she can't figure out how it's put together she's not inclined to eat it. she is picky but not a complainer. she doesn't have any food allergies.

10. if they wear jewelry, what kind? do they prefer silver or gold? do they have a favorite gem?

she doesn't wear any. she doesn't like how it feels. gemstones as decoration don't interest her. certain minerals are good for specific reactions though.

we're both butch- no, but i think alice has a lot of my struggles with understanding people. she's different from me in that she's not introspective about it At All. i would be so desperate for alice to be impressed with me. she wouldn't be impressed with me.

12. how long have they been around? do you know their birthday? is their birthday the day you made them or another day? what do they think of celebrating birthdays?

as a character? around a year. in canon she's 49 years old. she doesn't know her birthday and neither do i. she doesn't mind celebrating someone else's birthday but won't do anything unless specifically told it's coming up so she has time to get something. her gifts are usually pretty middling.

13. what languages do they speak? how fluently?

english only. fluent enough. when she was younger she remembers learning a lot of big words. she doesn't like using them much.

14. are they any good with numbers?

better then she lets on. she's the type to let a calculation run in her head, spew out a perfect number, and then say "eh, around 50 or so". she doesn't see the point in getting bogged down with nitty gritty. her measurements are always accurate to the millimeter.

15. how big or small is their family? who did they live with growing up? do they live with anyone now?

if she had a family, she never knew them. those records were erased long before her fake identity was forged. growing up, she knew there were others, but rarely if ever saw them. she learned from overhearing conversation that it wasn't uncommon for them to die. nowdays, she lives "alone", but her house is rarely empty.

16. do they have any pets? what do they call their pets?

never. a potted plant is enough work already.

17. how did they spend their summers/free time as a child?

the first time alice experienced a summer outdoors, she was nineteen years old. the constant heat was new. and not enjoyed. she got very badly sunburnt. it was after her first winter, and she found it less dangerous than winter, with more resources available. they sent her on a job to take out a great wooden construct. she blew it to splinters.

18. their opinion on lying, stealing, and killing?

lying's necessary sometimes. it's usually not her style. stealing was something she didn't understand for a while. she still does it sometimes, but now she understands that money can buy goods and services. killing isn't something she's ever taken lightly, but it's something she does without flinching, these days.

19. are they quick to anger? what sets them off?

quick to be annoyed? sure. quick to anger? not anymore. when alice was younger she would hiss and spit and display fury as quick as anything. nowadays she's pretty immoveable.

20. if applicable, can they drive? if they have their own, what color is their vehicle? is the inside neat and tidy, or a mess?

YES. it's one of the things alice picked up the quickest in the outside world. the first car she called her own was a 1993 jeep wrangler, purchased close-to-new, with a newly acquired "transportation budget", "Ellie", she maintains like clockwork, and its still running to this day, a near 30 years later. paint job is usually a soft black, but she's redone it before. the inside is tidy at first glance, but stuffed full with weapons and tools.

21. their favorite place to be?

the garage. of all the rooms in her house this is the space that is uniquivocably alice. it's where she goes to unwind, where she goes when she's stressed, where she goes when she gets an idea. it's her place.

23. do they sleep well at night?

"well enough" - alice. she still has bad nights every so often, but nowadays she'll just get up and head to the garage.

24. how would you describe their voice? can they sing?

pretty deep, pretty casual. she doesn't tend to speak in long sentences. she doesn't sing, really, but she's a surprisingly talented whistler. you'll catch her humming from time-to-time and it's nice.

25. do they have any creative hobbies? (art, writing, music, etc)

none so standard. she draws up blueprints on occasion with a rock-steady hand, but her main art is her metalworking and electrical skill. her inventions and creations are where her creativity lives.

26. how good/bad is their hearing? what about their eyesight?

her hearing is incredibly sharp. she hasn't lost a bit of it so far. her far eyesight too, is still sharp as anything. i like the idea of her needing reading glasses, but i haven't decided if that's true or not yet.

27. how do they move? are they clumsy? light on their feet? do they use mobility aids?

alice moves steady and sure. she doesn't often trip or stumble. her footfalls are generally pretty heavy around her house, but she still remembers how to step light. she doesn't use any mobility aids, she's always healed up really well with home-made splints and wraps.

28. if applicable, do they have a favorite sport? do they play any sports or prefer to watch?

she's not really into sports. whenever she's zoning out in front of the tv occasionally some football or soccer will stay on for a bit. she's not caught up with the teams. i'm not sure alice 100% knows the rules to any sports, and you'd really have to do some convincing to get her to see the poing of playing em. she'd be a beast at rugby.

29. how do they show that they care about someone? how do they express that they don't like someone?

when alice cares, she'll pick you up whenever you need. she'll drop everything and bring the car around with no complaint. she'll fix things that break for you, she'll keep her door open. she'll notice little flinches, she'll start softening edges around them. it's all action, never words. conversely, when alice doesn't like you, she says "i don't think i like you very much."

30. are they associated with any particular element (air, earth, fire, water)?

earth, to me. and metal. sturdy, solid, alice is foundation, brick and wall.

31. do they smell like anything notable?

machine oil, 100%. alice smells like a mechanic no matter what she does.

32. do they like receiving gifts? giving gifts? what is their ideal gift?

she's not great at receiving gifts. she'll get something useless and grunt about it and keep it on a shelf forever and instantly notice if anyone moves it. she's not a great gift giver either, some of her gifts are inexplicable, and she's not gonna explain why she got you a full silverwear set where each item can flip open to hide something inside. her ideal gift is something she can use.

33. do they have any habits that aren't particularly self-destructive, just maybe odd?

she's governed at times by a strange flow of thinking. she gets caught in loops of repetition, of taking apart and repairing. sometimes she has to whistle. sometimes she can't. she doesn't know why. it's easier to follow the impulse. most of the time.

34. if applicable, how would your other characters describe them? i mean specifically the people around them.

i kind of want b. to meet alice. he'd describe her as "not that scary". (lying)

35. how would your character describe themselves? it doesn't have to line up with how they really are.

I don't know much about pokemon. I just rate them on a cuteness scale with 0 strategy

Who would have their team based on aesthetics/vibes/cuteness??

Ohhh.... So I feel like Ino would have a little bit of an Aesthetic/Cuteness vibe going. She mostly goes with Grass/Psychic type Pokemon but if it's super cute she will take it regardless.

Sakura also has a bit of a cute aesthetic which is kind of a trick on her opponents because they see cute little Pokemon and assume they'll be easy to beat, only to get their butts whooped by all the pink Pokemon.

Mei would go for cute water-type Pokemon for sure! She loves their squishy faces and teaches them how to stand up to grass/electric-type attacks really well. She also has fire-type pokemon but those are focused less on cuteness and more on sheer strength. She loves kicking ass with fire-type pokemon more than anything and her Magcargo is her absolute favorite even if she does love cute Pokemon.

Choji I think would also really love Cute Pokemon. He has a preference for butterflies but is generally open to all Pokemon and really loves adorable ones.

2 🌸 Favorite canon thing about this character?

Bunn - I adore his wit and attitude. He's smart (and also a little dumb) and he knows it and he knows just how to get under people's skin while also being the most endearing person in the room. (And he's a little bit of a slut, we stan.)

Oat - He's so fucking genuine and so sweet. He's almost always smiling and he can't get away with anything (until it matters most.) Golden retriever energy for days.

Ai Di - Ai Di feels things so intensely. He comes off as this feral wild person but all of this energy stems from the fact that he feels everything so intensely all the time, all that love and devotion and loyalty and protective instinct has to come out somewhere because he's certainly not communicating it to Chen Yi.

10 🌸 Could you be best friends with this character?

Bunn - I think it would be a strange friendship. I have a friend in real life that's a lot like Bunn, brilliant and kind of a snarky ass. He's like my brother, I adore him and I'd give him a kidney without question if he needed it, but we also fight like siblings and get into disagreements and grate on each others nerves and want to beat the hell out of each other. I think Bunn and I would have a friendship very similar to his friendship with Inspector M.

Oat - God yes, but to be fair I think Oat is one of those people anyone could easily be friends with. I think we'd have a lot of fun teasing people, teasing each other, and just have one of those friendships that's easy.

Ai Di - This one is hard. I want to say yes? But we're both so fucking feral I think things might get overwhelming from time to time. I do think we'd have one of those relationships where you message each other and go "Can I be a hater for a minute?" and just unleash all the opinions you don't want to post publicly because like, they aren't that big of a deal, and it doesn't need to be A Thing. We'd also enjoy spicy food together.

first of all, how dare you

but here's why I chose dapg: because while I would LOVE to have weekly liveshows back, I don't like how so much of it is taken up by them just saying hi to people in the chat. I would much rather have a weekly (or bi-weekly, hell I'd even be happy with monthly) podcast-type vibe from them... something like the stereo shows but preferably without the audience participation.

also they still owe us a wedding

i started typing the answer and my phone died, so rip to 3 paragraphs and let's start again 🤡

they do owe us devan wedding! 🔫 but i wouldn't consider one video a comeback.

i was just thinking, do i want edited 15-20 min long videos 4-6 times a month OR 40+ min long liveshows where they talk about all kind of bullshit and update us on their lives. liveshows sometimes turn into unfiltered rants while you just look at the screen thinking waaat???? they are usually randomly solo or joint so we cherish joint ones more (fucking nostalgia). i get that the greetings part is annoying but it’s only like 5-7 mins combined and some group chats’ names are so unhinged they are worth reading out loud. any audience participation has pros and cons (chat or audio) but it also lets dnp call us mildly offensive but more importantly hilarious names. and maybe MAYBE i enjoy it more than videos that are shorter and edited, so even if there’s something jaw-dropping it went through at least 2 stages of editing.

gaming livesteams are a different cup of tea. and i’m not sure where it belongs because we had those both on dnpgames and during Phil’s liveshows. and the vibes were basically the same. so twitch is the ultimate answer. but if we can throw some gaming into liveshows like Phil did when Dan disappeared then for me, MAYBE liveshows win. weekly, solo or joint randomly, with 3 mins of hi-s and then 3 mins of bye-s, with camera cleaning and shout outs, but i’d take that if it means 30+ mins of Dan and/or Phil talking about how they went somewhere, what movies/tv shows watched, what books Phil has read or what they got for birthdays. i’ll even take topics that i don’t care about, because the way they talk about them is quite interesting in itself. and while gaming videos have some elements of this, i’d rather sacrifice the gaming part than the whole concept of liveshows.

looks like Phil was right, i was watching the gaming channel mainly because of the bants. but at the same time, some of the games were very interesting and i’d pay my own money to see them play Ori. i want them to talk about aesthetics, please :((

this is hard. that’s why i’m not voting on my own poll 🤡🔫 i don’t know!! because if we get at least something, that would probably be enough?! but also no. because we had both at the same time and then we lost both almost at the same time (shout out to Phil for carrying the phandom for a bit). and now we don’t have either, and i don’t know what the return of any the two could mean. gaming liveshows? which means gaming rarely randomly thrown in Phil’s or joint liveshows. but also original gaming videos were so fun. i still laugh watching them for like the 5th+ time.

i reinstallled girls frontline en just for the zombie land saga collab 🔫🧟‍♀️❓ It took a bit before i remembered how to play the game again and remembered the various reasons why i stopped 😒.

the story of the collab event is absolutely nothing to write home about. Not to imply I went into it expecting a masterpiece or anything,... But i did have an open mind going in, because I recall most of the past collab events were really elaborate in the ways they adapted and merged the gfl world/aesthetics with whatever they were collabing with while featuring nice spotlights on unexpected dolls and unique crossover scenarios.

Not the case for the zls collab though 😛 Its a low-tier fanfic-slash-kinda dating sim set up where a clearly assumed male self-insert pov gets whisked away into the world of your fav anime zombie land saga and hangs out with franchouchou who all have to rely on you to make their concert successfull!!!! and so on. There’s minor token appearances from some dolls who aren’t even the actual dolls but AU versions and they don’t really matter. And most scenes that’s not just a reference to something from the anime aren’t that funny. guess it was too much to expect this to be more like the djmax collab.....

But whatever! The real reason I’m playing is so i can tap on JPEGs on my phone screen to make them say lines, and watch funny animations while fighting robots!

i don’t know why Lily’s win animation turns her into a teddy bear though. that looks like the opposite of victory to me...

#once i have them all i will probably be entertained for a couple of days after and then uninstall again 😌#until i get another giant nostalgic itch anywhere from 6-12 months down the line

🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

so, deng came last (thus far). he's kind of the "final piece" in a puzzle that only had like ... three pieces. ji-hun filled a gap that was left by just having that man and ren, but ji-hun needed a foil that wasn't just that man or ren. i would argue that man and ren aren't foils for ji-hun the way that deng is. deng is truly ji-hun "other".

what actually inspired deng at all? i saw this image from an aesthetic blog i follow and it was kind of over. it's so funny because deng still does wear these medical masks, but not as often as he used to. i guess he doesn't as much now because he knows more of the characters he's interacting with, and the mask thing is something he does more for strangers / so you don't know it's him right away, but he has no reason to hide who he is from ... well, like chiyo, for example. deng wants her to know it's him lol

but yeah! similarly to ji-hun, i saw an image, an idea was born, and it sort of just fit naturally, so it developed as it went along. deng was always "this way". arguably, he's just gotten worse?

the first thing i decided about him, besides the usual like he works for that man, he's the right hand whereas ji-hun is the left, etc (like the obvious stuff) was that he likes hair. the hair thing ://

he only truly trusts that man. arguably, he trusts ji-hun? it seems he does, anyway.

This is like several hours late (I do actually have somewhat of a life 😔✌🏻) but bc I brought up edmusume, I at least like how h!p has been doing edm recently

I still don't necessarily Enjoy the break in zenzen okiagarenai sunday, but the only egregious thing is that loud high-pitched horn, and it's not overly present; I really enjoy dance breaks in general so I'm glad when they're included and I like the backing vocals towards the end

And the rest of the song/mv is really well-done (the lyrics, the aesthetics with the barefoot dancing on the stage and the intensely saturated flowerbed, typography, everyone say thank you to tsunku for coming up with バカ子ちゃん 🔫, the 「ねえ返してよ」, the high notes, the change to "goodbye, goodbye" in the last chorus, the overdramatic この運命よサヨウナラ / 忘れられないみたい…) that I forgive it for having another clumsy edm break, especially bc there's several '14 songs that I Just cannot listen to
