polyhermits but one by one the hermits are going "offline" and their bodies are being found all over until just one remains.

everyone knew how the mechanics behind server hopping worked, hell they knew what it was like to leave a server. they'd done it more then once and they've seen it happen to others before first hand. usually a hermit would get comfortable, put their bodies in a spot like a bed—or a secure area to prevent other hermits who were especially fond of pranking those who leave the server for one reason or another—and then they'd log out, their body would go limp and the light in their eyes would go out. had it not been for the faint pulse and the grayed out name that would appear, they could have been mistaken for a corpse.

usually the hermits mentioned when they planned to go off server, to prevent plans being made or accidentally causing a disturbance in another hermits schedule—it was why it came as a surprise when hermits began going out. first it was bdubs, who'd ended up being found in his base on the floor completely motionless after he hadn't been seen by anyone in a few days. it hadn't been much cause for concern, with how he's had a bit of a problem with having to suddenly go off world and forgetting to mention it to someone. there were still some hermits who were concerned about this—cleo and the nho mostly, but words of concern had been whispered in the wind—that "He would let us know if he were going somewhere". those words fell on deaf ears, and they wouldn't be properly heard until it happened again.

it was a week after bdubs had been found that a second person had been found disconnected. pearl had been found in the shopping district, her newly purchased items having been spread among her in a way that couldn't be intentional. impulse and gem said she'd gone to grab some late night stuff they'd forgotten for their date the night before and when she never came back, they had simply thought she decided to cut the date short and head home. they blamed themselves for thinking so stupidly—for potentially endangering pearl by not checking in on her. that's when the others began to grow concerned, this had only seemingly just begun and they've currently lost two hermits to the disconnect.

xisuma decreed a mandatory buddy system, every hermit needed to be with at least one person at all times. he'd tried to say so that whatever happened wouldn't happen again, but everyone knew he didn't know what was going on—(no one blamed him though). they'd all had a chance to speak, to voice their concerns and to comfort their partners, but one question seemed to stick out in repetition amongst everyone; "whose next?" unfortunately that question would soon be answered.

stress was the third one to disconnect, right there in front of everyone where she had been mid-setence. had it not been for false, who'd been standing right next to her throughout the speech, she would have fallen straight to the floor. now they were in a panic, having hoped that the cause for the sudden disconnects was a seeable—stoppable—force, but seeing stress fall had proved those hopeful thoughts wrong. there was no time to panic. after the hermits had left the meeting, hand in hand, words of reassurance spoken to each respective group, they knew they didn't have time to worry on the problem—not when someone else could disconnect right in front of them.

it is season eight, hermits are disconnecting out of no where and nobody knows what to do. a documentary by joe hills on the disconnection of hermitcraft.

Cleo couldn't help but roll their eyes as Joe continued his recordings. Despite their partners vanishing at random to other servers (or worse), that's what he decided to spend his time doing. Yet nobody blamed him, because at least it was something. That was more of an idea than the rest of them had to try.

There were some suggestions: trying to go AFK; leaving to another server; privately messaging the hermits that have vanished or even attempting to change gamemodes. These were ultimately dismissed as too risky versus their likelihood to yield any results.

But there was, at least, one thing. Joe Hills, live from the Hermitcraft server, recording and reporting on every bit of information they found.

Somewhere, somehow, there had to be a correlation. And it would be in that documentary.
