this guy risks life, limb, and hermit citizenship to help cleo ride a horse across the nether roof from the world border to the original spawn.

and it's not like they can just do it easily. scar and cub are on their ass every time they log on. yet he still risks everything, fights an ender dragon with nothing but borrowed armor, cheats death over and over and over all for cleo.

The world is ending, and Cleo feels so very alone.

She's not sure why she's still sentient when everyone around her are mindless killing machines. She's not sure why the zombie curse only spread through her body and not her mind. She's not sure why she's still alive right now.

After getting turned away from every safehouse and viewed as a threat by any living human who passes them, they're really not sure how they're still alive. At least the other zombies don't attack them...

After yet another rejection, she finds herself squatting at an abandoned house when she hears thumping coming from the upstairs. Going to investigate, she finds... A locked chest, with something thumping on the inside. And when she opens the chest, she finds... A puppet?

A living puppet named Joe, who's incredibly grateful to be freed from that chest. Cleo's not sure what to make of him, but a living puppet isn't too much stranger than a living zombie, right? And at the very least, he seems to be the only living thing that's not afraid of them...

Cleo guesses it makes sense, they don't pose a threat to Joe in. They've been living off animal meat and not human anyway, but they don't think fabric would taste particularly nice. Doesn't stop Cleo threatening to eat him as they get closer, though.

Turns out Joe is really good at entertaining kids. Cleo thinks it's the puppet nature, though, because these kids would not be sitting through a dramatic reading of Moby Dick otherwise. But it's helped a lot even if Cleo still has to hide out of sight, or wear a big coat and lots of perfume. But it's a far better experience to doing it all alone.
