Mini Mac # 37 : flower babies
The twins first feeding!! The monkeys are in love with their babies
Macaque was obsessed. He didn't glance away from his babies since they bloomed. He was overwhelmed by so many feelings he didn't even know what he was truly thinking. The only thing he knew was that they were perfect, and they were his. The black-furred monkey was on Wukong's heart-shaped patch of fur. The Monkey King was reclining on his cloud, he had taken off his shirt after dirtying it with his tears. The twins bloomed a few hours ago, as such the pilgrims decided to stop traveling for today and take a well-deserved break.
Macaque eyes were a bit swollen. He cried the second one of the twins chirped at him. Right now, they were both in his arms. Familiarizing themselves with the feel of his fur and the sound of his heartbeat. He took off his shirt to hold them as close as possible, his lil girl and his lil boy were comfortably cuddled in his arms. The most adventurous cub was pawing at his face, tracing the lines of his visage with her tiny lil hands. Macaque kissed the tips of her fingers every time they neared his mouth, the cub giggled each time, her voice as clear as a wind chime. Macaque eyed her tenderly.
She had bright fur, the same color as the embers of a fire, with swirls of red on her back, dancing like flames. Her eyes were like rubies, it reminded Macaque of Wukong's eye color under all his glamor. Her mask was clearer than her fur, it was like the color of a peach. It was framed like a heart and ended in two spikes on each side of her lil mouth, making the illusion of fangs. Her tail was very long, it clumsily swayed in-between her tiny feets and tangled with her legs. Macaque was trying to untie it from her legs but she giggled and squirmed around, tangling herself with her tail even more each time he managed to untangle her. Macaque snorted at her behavior.
“You can't stay still, can you?” Softly cooed the black-furred monkey. Wukong, who was watching the scene with wet eyes, laughed along.
“You want help?” Whispered the great sage, his voice so unbelievably soft. Macaque hesitated for a bit before nodding. The golden-furred monkey was very slow. He approached one of his fingers and softly brushed the lil girl to distract her. The cub giggled and pawed at the huge finger that poked her with glee, she bit it happily, loving the feel of fur in her mouth. It didn't hurt at all for Wukong, her fangs were tinier than a kitten's. “You're a lil savage aren't you?” Cooed Wukong. Macaque hummed and used this chance to untangle her daughter, he smoothed her long, long tail and wrapped it around his wrist to prevent it from being tangled again.
“Savage… I think that's a good name.” Smiled Macaque. He then turned towards his precious son. He was even tinier than his sister and was trying to merge with Macaque chest's fur, gripping it tightly. “Hey, baby, dad wanna see your face.” Macaque tried to coax his son but the stubborn lil guy huffed and pushed Macaque's fingers away, he wanted to sleep more!
The sleepy lil guy had a darker fur than her flaming sister. His fur was dark like walnut wood and he had golden swirls on his back, ressembling golden clouds. Macaque cooed at him for long minutes. The lil guy finally huffed and looked up at Macaque with a pout and sleepy eyes. He had a deep red mask shaped like wings (similar to his own) which ended with two spikes on each side of his mouth, very much like his sister. His eyes were made of gold, softer than his sister, and veiled by a thin layer of sleepy tears.
“Hey my lil sleepy guy.” Macaque kissed his son's forehead. Contrary to his sister, he didn't giggle, instead he made a rumbling-like sound, something ressembling a “mrrp”. “You're a rumbly guy.” Laughed Macaque. Wukong's eyes fell on the lil rumbly guy and he smiled. He patted the tiny cub's head with the tip of his finger. He was surprised when the baby boy gripped his finger and used it as a pillow. The cub huffed and pressed his tiny snout in the fur. He was so satisfied with his new pillow he purred, the sound made his whole body shake.
“Definitely a rumbly guy. “ Snorted Wukong. “Lil Rumble.”
Macaque like the name, Rumble.
Rumble and Savage, his precious treasures.
“Guys, we're back.” Both monkeys startled at the voice. They were so focused on the cubs they forgot about the pilgrims.
“You were out?” Asked Wukong.
“Can't believe you didn’t even notice it.” Snorted Bajie with a mocking smile. “Not even a day that they're here and you're already obsessed.” Wukong rolled his eyes in annoyance.
“You choose names?” Excitedly asked Ao Lie. He approached the babies and cooed. Not too close though, he didn't want to frighten them.
“This lil adventurer is Savage.” Presented Macaque as he tried to tear his daughter away from Wukong’s finger, she seemed to really like chewing on it. “and this lil purring guy is Rumble.” Added Macaque as he patted his son, who was still buried in Wukong's other finger.
“Beautiful babies.” Praised Wujing with sparkling eyes.
“We went looking for a village with the alms bowl. We got some fruits and milk for the babies.” Informed Sanzang as he took out the bottle of milk. Macaque eyes lit up when he saw the milk. He had to feed his babies!
“Oh, brothers, look in the outside pocket of our bags and bring me the lil wooden bottles I carved.” Demanded Wukong. Wujing nodded and went to fetch the lil bottles.
The great sage knew Macaque didn't have any milk. He was a male after all. So he created a lot of lil wooden bottles with silk tied at the end of it for the babies to feed on.
“You made that?” Asked Macaque with a huge smile.
“Yeah.” Nodded Wukong, he blushed when he noticed Macaque's smile. The great sage took the milk and poured it in the lil wooden bottles, a few drops were enough. He then tied the silk at the end of it and passed them to Macaque.
Macaque took the bottles. He didn't really know how to do this but he'll do his best. He coaxed his lil girl to his chest and brought the bottle close to her mouth. Savage looked up at him and tilted her head in confusion. Ah… yes, he needed to show her how to use it, how stupid of him. Macaque brought the bottle to his lips and sucked on the silk, drinking a few drops of milk. Savage watched him with round eyes, her lil ears twitching in interest. Macaque lowered the bottle to her again and let her pawe at it in wonder. Then Savage brought the bottle to her lips and sucked on the silk, her eyes widened comically when she drank her first drops of milk and her long tail wagged in delight. She sucked loudly, clutching the lil wooden bottle tightly, as if it was a treasure.
Macaque eyes widened when he saw how fast her daughter was drinking. In two blinks she already ended the bottle and demanded more.
“A lil glutton.” Chuckled Wukong as he refilled the bottle.
Rumble was a bit harder to coax, he glared at his bottle suspiciously, as if it would bite him if he dared suck on the silk. His sister was the one to help him. She frowned when she heard his lil “mrrps” of dissatisfaction and pushed the bottle on him. Rumble's chest ended up being a lil moist. The rumbly cub gasped and glared at his sister, she giggled while still suking on her bottle.
Rumble frowned and tried to pawe at his sister in frustration but she was too far. He huffed and stopped, tired by his tentatives. Macaque managed to finally coax him after he tired himself out and Rumble sucked on the silk with a grumpy face.
They both burped after being fed and curled in Macaque's chest. Savage was sprawled in his arms like a starfish while Rumble was curled in a tiny ball of fur. Their lil snores echoed softly in the air. Macaque looked down at them and wiped away the tears nipping at his eyes. The wind softly ruffled the two cubs and lulled them peacefully, singing melodies in their tiny ears, taking them to the land of dreams.
+ Cut scenes
Sanzang *warning the monkeys* : we're going to look for food.
The monkeys *focused on the twins* : 🥰🥰 chirps !
Sanzang : they're not listening are they? 😅
Ao Lie : Nope

Rumble : How dare you spill milk on me?? 😮
Savage : You're too slow 🙄
Rumble : This is war 😠
Rumble *after trying to pawe at Savage and failing* : Hmph, you're lucky for now. 😤
Wukong : awe, they're like angels 🥰

Of young maid Olysam and the King Serpent / Оповідь про Олисам-дівку та Царевича Змій
A nebokrajan etiological myth explaining how humankind discovered fire and got themselves a soul. English and Ukrainian versions below:
OF YOUNG MAID OLYSAM AND THE KING SERPENT
It happened when creation was new; when first men didn't yet have a soul and lived amongst beasts, and died like beasts. A man and a woman had a daughter, a young maid whose name was Olysam. She was their only child and they loved her much, and she was of great joy to them.
The creation was new, and so they knew only summer and never had they saw a winter; but nevertheless, winter came. And they saw how weeds died and animals hidden, and they didn't know how to find food, and their home and garments were unfit for the cold. And so they knew they were to die soon, and the wife got very ill.
And the daughter said: Don’t you despair, my beloveds, for I will go to the Brass mountain, where the Serpent King resides; I will go to his mountain and I will take him as my husband, and you will be named his mother and father, and he will save us, for we are his kin.
Man and woman cried, as she was their only daughter and she was of great joy to them; and the girl cried, for she didn't want to take a serpent as her husband. And so they fashioned her in bride garments, and they laid her on a boat, and gave her trinkets, and sent the boat across the river. And Olysam laid in a boat for three days and three nights, until she crossed the river to the other side. She took her trinkets and knocked on the Brass gates, and a voice asked her: ‘Who are you, intruder, knocking on my Brass gates, when it is not your time?’
The girl said: ‘I am Olysam, the daughter of man, and I came here to take the Serpent King, the Lord of the Soul, as my husband.’
'Why would you want a serpent as your husband, girl?'
'For my family is dying and only he can save them, and I have nothing else to give.'
'Come and look at me, then.'
And so the Brass gates opened, and the girl wandered forward. And she saw a palace of great beauty, and a husbandry of great wealth, and on the throne there sat the Serpent King. He was an old man of frightening appearance; his beard was long and green, and all kinds of weeds were entwined in his hair: wyrmwood and sage, and thornapple, and periwinkle; his neck was long and scaled, like that of a snake, and his face was golden, and he himself glistened like a gem.
‘Do you still wish to take me as your husband, girl?’ he asked.
‘Your visage frightens me beyond any words’ she said ‘But I will do it, if you save my beloveds’
‘If you take me as your husband, and I take you as my wife, then you shall never return to the world of men’ he said ‘For when you share a meal and a bed with this world, you become a part of it’
‘I agree to it still’ she said ‘If you save my beloveds’
The Serpent King marveled at the girl’s fortitude. He ordered his serfs to forge a flame in mountain’s deep, and he gave it to her in a golden basket.
‘You will now return to your beloveds, Olysam, the daughter of man’ he said ‘and you will give them my flame; and with it you will light your houses, and fright the beasts away, and lure them into your traps; and when you kill them, with my flame you will cook their meat'
‘But what of our marriage?’ the girl asked.
‘From now on, when a man dies, he won't return to earth like a beast would. Instead, he will enter my husbandry as a spirit; that is our marriage. And you shall be the first to die, Olysam, daughter of man, and the day of your funeral shall be the day of our wedding."

The price of ruling a kingdom is always steep. Your time. Your energy. Your values. All your currency to be able to lead with a sense of nobility.  Rauru’s price was unsurpassed. In the lengthy fight against the Demon King, his options were limited. He could not win. As Ganondorf’s transformed visage beamed down at Rauru and his withered faction of sages, the King of Hyrule reflected. He thought of the Princess, who lay just behind him, battered and bruised - barely starting her life as a ruler in her own time and now lending her power in his to face an ultimate evil. He thought of his sages, important figureheads to their own people, leaving the safety of their families and homes to fight at his side. He thought of his sister, collapsed at the ground - his council, his confidant, the last living Zonai besides himself to have agency in the land of Hylians.
...He thought of his wife. His strength in all that he did, his guiding voice, the only person alive to be his peace when the world felt too heavy. How he had failed her...and how he was so tired of failing everyone else.  With a decision at the forefront, Rauru straightened his gaze. It was a last resort, a plan that he’d discussed only briefly with the sages prior to this final battle - but it was time to put it into motion. In a flash he bypassed the distracting swing of the sage’s weapons to launch a full-frontal assault on the Demon King. With all of his power, the first king of Hyrule thrusted his fist through the chest of his enemy, his fingers seizing the heart of the monster and locking both of their bodies into place.  “You bind my heart and steal my magic. You plan to hold me here...” growled the Demon King, “What a clever way to solve your problems.” He stared down at the Zonai, malice vibrant in his orange slits, “But are you ready to pay the price for this?”  Rauru stood his ground as his arm stole away at the Demon King’s lifeforce, “Don’t be so smug...I know exactly what it will cost me.”  He had come to peace with it. For all of his shortcomings, for all that he’d lost, this was the least he could do. There was hope yet in the future - and he needed to play his part in ensuring that there would be one to stop Ganondorf then. With his last breaths he told the Demon King of a knight that would wield a sword of fate...and to the remember the name of the man that would be his end. The world would fade around them both shortly after.  ----- Rauru would awaken to silence. His eyes blurred in their sight, but soon piecing together the blues and greens so similar to the power he possessed. Zonai lettering floated around this place, and the only structures he could see in his peripheral vision as he sat up were a few stone slabs and the archway over his head. His afterlife, was what he concluded.  Had he succeeded? Would there be peace for a time until the swordsman could fight once more? His mind raced as he pondered all the possibilities, only to realize that he would no longer have a say in the outcome. Just then he thought back on his wife’s words of comfort, how she always reminded him that some matters in life had the simplest answers when you led with a just heart.  “Was I enough, Sonia...?” he said to no one. His ears fell as he envisioned her face. Her blonde cascading tresses and smile so genuine. What he would have given for her fate to have been any different. Rauru felt tears slide down his cheeks, the weight of his loss finally taking its toll on him.  “...More than enough, my love” came a soft voice.  Ears perking up, Rauru rose his head, the slightest tremble in his stare. Just before him was his beloved, spectral in appearance, but very much there.  “Sonia...” he whimpered, his hands reaching up to take her own, “How can you say so so easily...I...I failed you.”  The blonde gently squeezed his fingers, “While neither of us may be alive any longer...you have given everyone what they desperately needed most, Rauru.” He eyed her in confusion, unsure of what she meant. Sonia prompted him to rise from his sitting position, her emerald eyes gazing lovingly into his own.  “You gave them hope for the future.”  Her arms came around his torso, head laying against his chest like she had done so many times while they were amongst the living. Rauru relaxed into her embrace, his own hands pushing her closer to him. His ears shook sadly, though in his heart he was happy to have her in his arms once more. “...It was torture without you, Sonia.”  She hummed softly, slowly pulling herself from his hold.  “Which is why I’m here now, my love...you have done all that you were able,” Sonia turns away from him briefly, a bright light now shining in the direction she was looking. Turning back to him, she smiled gently, “It’s time you finally allowed yourself to rest.”

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁⭐(Friday's Tale)
This is the transcription of an ancient Mesopotamian report on a clay tablet found in the northwest part of the Iraqi desert in the year 1924.
"In the tongue of the clay, I inscribe these words, Eannatum Zirru, scion of Lugal-Anu Enlil, bearing a heart steadfast and love boundless for Naram-Sin Iddin-Sin, the king. 30 of our mightiest warriors from our city ventured into the desert's embrace across 3 full moons, questing for a miraculous remedy. The king's daughter, ensnared in the clutches of a vile affliction the physicians named the Black Spiral, teetered at death's precipice.
The malady first birthed as a hand marked by a spiral, akin to an inked sigil. It sprouted roots akin to flora, snaking forth until entwining the mind's seat. At this juncture, the visage of the afflicted transmuted into an otherworldly semblance, akin to a leonine beast, fanged and malevolent-eyed. Those gripped by this torment turned assailants, and in her fury, the king's daughter rent her mother and three brothers asunder.
May the divine deities lend their aid.
Fear gnawed at our souls, dreading the contagion's spread and the city's contagion. Thus, shrouding our plight in silence, we embarked on a quest for a cure.
Guided by a sage, we traversed to where sand cascades from the heavens like water. A desolated hamlet greeted our eyes, its inhabitants marked by the malignance. Alas, our arrival was belated; the scourge had surged. Journeying southward as directed by an Egyptian merchant, we sought succor from a sorceress. She prescribed a dire remedy: the sacrifice of 3 children and 2 goats to the desert's spiral.
The heart weighed heavy with anguish, unable to mete the shepherd's wards to their ghastly fate. Instead, 4 more goats were offered, and the children entrusted to an elder in a nearby village.
Returning to our splendid city, we bore witness to tempestuous winds devouring empty streets. Our arrival was tardy; the populace was naught but specters haunting the king's palace. Within, only the king and healer remained. The healer unearthed an ancient script, revealing the plague's origin: Zarshar the prostitute, a covetous demon of the northern winds. She feasted upon entire cities, reducing them to desert spirals. Clad as a shepherd with 3 children-avatars of Greed, Envy, and Wrath, her appearance signified doom. Sole absolution lay in sacrificing the children, liberation for the city's souls.
Alas, we faltered. My king, the healer, and valiant warriors succumbed. I remain solitary in the desert, seeking but in vain. My city, kin, and lineage are naught but remnants. Should this ailment besiege your lands, remember: slay them all, slay the children. May the gods favor thee."

"Hillbillies." From the Book of Joshua, Chapter 9.
Tumblr media
In Chapter 8 we're still recovering from what happened in Chapter 7, when a serpent crept through the weeds and right up the backside up some kid's new Babylonian Robe.
Then all Israel stoned him, and after they had stoned the rest, they burned them. 26 Over Achan they heaped up a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day. Then the Lord turned from his fierce anger. Therefore that place has been called the Valley of Achor "turbid, troubled" ever since.
Troubled valleys we can do without, so up to the hills we go!
The Gibeonite Deception 9 Now when all the kings west of the Jordan heard about these things—the kings in the hill country, in the western foothills, and along the entire coast of the Mediterranean Sea as far as Lebanon (the kings of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites)— 2 they came together to wage war against Joshua and Israel.
-> Gibeonites are "hill towns" and they have kings. In Lekh Lekha, the Most High says this is forbidden. These kinds of people are not to self-govern or have kings:
17 When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. 18 On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi[k] of Egypt [dry streambed, meaning they were free of the waters of the Flood] to the great river, the Euphrates— [the fruitful]19 the land of the Kenites [people of the spear, Senators], Kenizzites [hunter], Kadmonites [primitive], 20 Hittites [the terribles] , Perizzites [wildling] , Rephaites [shades], 21 Amorites [complainers], Canaanites [the low], Girgashites [take and stroke] and Jebusites [down trampler].”
As in the flight from Egypt a pillar of smoke and a torch appear and pass between the badness of the boys and their goodness and purges them of the deluge of violence.
“By the light of the fire of knowledge and incense of the words of the Torah, mature men, the sons of the righteous, who are free of corruption, should rule as senators over the primitive, the corrupt, thieves, naysayers, and make them fruitful.”
3 However, when the people of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai, 4 they resorted to a ruse: They went as a delegation whose donkeys were loaded[a] with worn-out sacks and old wineskins, cracked and mended. 5 They put worn and patched sandals on their feet and wore old clothes. All the bread of their food supply was dry and moldy. 6 Then they went to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal "place where nobility is conferred" and said to him and the Israelites, “We have come from a distant country; make a treaty with us.”
-> Donkeys are bearers of news of congregation. A bunch of ne'er do wells with shoddy supplies astride donkeys= anti-Moshiach.
Mos= sufficient
Ash= firelight
Ia= the god EA or YAH,
Ach= Brother.
"In you, my brother, I find sufficiency and the Light of Yah."
What is the opposite of this? Utter darkness and horror. These the Gibeonites carried in their luggage:
Sacks= worn out sacks, a sign of poverty mean Moshiach is coming at a time when civilization is winding down, as do cracked wine-skins, another term for a loser that can't hold his liquor, his truth.
"The prophecy of Zechariah,1that Mashiach will appear as “a poor man, riding on a donkey,” is an image frequently depicted and referred to in Jewish art and literature. Among the references to this prophecy in the works of our Sages are:
A passage from the Talmud2 that compares Zechariah’s prophecy with one of Daniel,3 who describes Mashiach’s coming quite differently, “Behold with the clouds of the heaven, one whose visage was like a man was coming.” Our Sages reconcile the difference in the visions by explaining: “If the Jews are worthy, Mashiach will come ‘with the clouds of the heaven.’ If they are not worthy, he will come as ‘a poor man riding on a donkey.’ ”
-> worn patched sandals mean the Gibeonites did not consecrate themselves in the places they ventured and their worn out clothes meant they had not given up the incorrect traditions of their parents or their own pasts. They failed to grow up.
The Talmud (Shabbat 129a) declares: "A person should sell the roof beams of his house to buy shoes for his feet."
Except Joshua's civilization was growing up...
7 The Israelites said to the Hivites "tent villagers", “But perhaps you live near us, so how can we make a treaty with you?”
8 “We are your servants,” they said to Joshua.
But Joshua asked, “Who are you and where do you come from?”
9 They answered: “Your servants have come from a very distant country because of the fame of the Lord your God. For we have heard reports of him: all that he did in Egypt, 10 and all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites "talkers" east of the Jordan—Sihon king of Heshbon, '"the exterminator of deduction" and Og "slanderer" king of Bashan "foolishness, covetousness" , king of who reigned in Ashtaroth "Unions Of Instructions, Clusters Of One Law".
->Kings who are purposely ignorant and slander because they covet do not belong in a land where Unified Law reigns and cause it to be treated as if it were superfluous. See above.
11 And our elders and all those living in our country said to us, ‘Take provisions for your journey; go and meet them and say to them, “We are your servants; make a treaty with us.”’
12 This bread of ours was warm when we packed it at home on the day we left to come to you. But now see how dry and moldy it is. 13 And these wineskins that we filled were new, but see how cracked they are. And our clothes and sandals are worn out by the very long journey.”
-> This will make more sense in a minute, but "brothers" bearing worn out provisions but bartering for new as "servants" are clearly anti-Christ. They embody that which is unholy not which is new, pristine, and of God.
14 The Israelites sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the Lord. 15 Then Joshua made a treaty of peace with them to let them live, and the leaders of the assembly ratified it by oath.
16 Three days after they made the treaty with the Gibeonites, the Israelites heard that they were neighbors, living near them. 17 So the Israelites set out and on the third day came to their cities: Gibeon, Kephirah, Beeroth and Kiriath Jearim. 18 But the Israelites did not attack them, because the leaders of the assembly had sworn an oath to them by the Lord, the God of Israel.
Gibeon= hillbillies.
Kephirah= villagers
Beeroth= clarifiers
Kiriath Jearim= City Of Forests, City Of Honeycombs
The whole assembly grumbled against the leaders, 19 but all the leaders answered, “We have given them our oath by the Lord, the God of Israel, and we cannot touch them now. 20 This is what we will do to them: We will let them live, so that God’s wrath will not fall on us for breaking the oath we swore to them.” 21 They continued, “Let them live, but let them be woodcutters and water carriers in the service of the whole assembly.” So the leaders’ promise to them was kept.
-> Three Days after an oath sworn by God, the Israelites living in Jericho, the "Fragrant Place" find out they were lied to and the people were essentially, like they used to be "little Egyptians", hilbillies living in their pre-fab lives with "clarity" and "kindness". "water and honey" which were hidden within the forest of these ruffians' severities. Joshua takes pity on them and does what he can to turn them into Israelites:
22 Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said, “Why did you deceive us by saying, ‘We live a long way from you,’ while actually you live near us? 23 You are now under a curse: You will never be released from service as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.”
-> Most commentaries state the Gibeonites, the "foreigners", the woodcutters and water carriers that tried to trade up and become Israelites under false pretenses have to labor on their behalves in order to earn redemption.
Woodcutters= Make the Altar of Peace out of acacia wood.
Water carriers= All of us carry water, the ability to reflect upon the Self. The Water and Honey of the Gibeonites, who weren't intrinsically all that bad, became hidden because they acted like a bunch of hillbillies and listened to a bunch of liars, slanderers, and power mad bigots .
24 They answered Joshua, “Your servants were clearly told how the Lord your God had commanded his servant Moses to give you the whole land and to wipe out all its inhabitants from before you. So we feared for our lives because of you, and that is why we did this. 25 We are now in your hands. Do to us whatever seems good and right to you.”
26 So Joshua saved them from the Israelites, and they did not kill them. 27 That day he made the Gibeonites woodcutters and water carriers for the assembly, to provide for the needs of the altar of the Lord at the place the Lord would choose. And that is what they are to this day.

Nabooru had put a great deal of trust in the stability of the Clown Copter. A raised brow warns of the potential dangers.
Tumblr media
A heavy exhale freed a thankful inch from his waistline though. The ship's capacity is meant to be one king koopa. Like a driver passing a police officer, Bowser settled both claws on the steering wheel and coasted.
Bowser scoffed at Termina's name. Though the castle he delivers them to is hardly any more inviting. The hovering colossus eclipsed the sunset, yet every meter closer ticks the thermostat higher. The building reeked an oppressive humidity: thick as Death Mountain. The etched stone and endless steel are a stark contrast to the carefully maneuvered stone and sand below. The castle's iron face, a perfect visage of its owner, is a testament to greed and defiance of nature.
"You gotta make the time! Rulers gotta do enough for people. We deserve breaks!" His practiced mantra combats the boisterous blast of machinery. Though the castle lacked any sign of propellers, its roaring suggests an engine of some kind sustains it. "But don't worry. I'm great at forcing vacations out of rulers. Bwahaha!"
The copter swooped up and over, stopping just above one end of a bridge. Its other half waits in Dark Land. A soft click left the copter hovering in place. This round, he would let the sage depart first - Accidents have a death toll this high up.
Concrete leaks searing fog. The double doors had been left open, offering Nabooru a glimpse. The lush purple carpet contrasts the dim torch lighting much as the decadent rubies do the monstrous statues of the king in the lobby. Its proud owner eventually came in from behind.
Tumblr media
"Welcome to my favorite castle." As in, he boasts of more than one. "A little on the empty side since everyone is down under, but all the better for a tour!"
Nabooru barely had enough time to answer, let alone ponder why her acquiescence in agreeing to a trip to his kingdom surprised him. With the literal snap of his fingers, his clown-faced copter returned, the whir of the propellers causing audience and warriors alike to turn their eyes toward the craft.
At least this time, it had nothing in its path to destroy.
Tumblr media
Before following the king's lead, Nabooru's gaze scanned the crowd to find Aveil, her second in command. She nodded, a silent command and temporary transfer of power to her in the chief's absence. When she was sure Aveil understood, Nabooru turned back to Bowser, climbing up on the rail herself and resting her slender hand in his.
" I haven't, " she answered, climbing into the bowl-like cockpit. Her free hand rested on the green of the lip and a thought struck her. One to alleviate the tight space of the craft. Both hands on the edge, she lifted herself up and gracefully twisted back around to face him again, perching herself on the rim where only her legs would take up space inside the vessel.
" I've always wanted to visit a place called Termina, though. A faction of our sisters lives there. But, that would mean crossing the entire desert and an ocean to reach them. We don't exactly have the means to easily do that. " She shrugged. " Not to mention I don't exactly have the time. There's too much to be done here, too many matter to attend to embark on such a voyage. "

May I request some headcanons fo Darunia? If you aren't too busy of course)
Oh you mean my dad? The Goron who raised me? The whole reason I love and appreciate the Goron people in the first place and is legit the OG Big Guy (that's not an exaggeration either, Gorons had their first appearance in Ocarina of Time - MY first Zelda game). Of course I've got headcanons for you!
His sense of duty and Goron pride is limitless. He's chief for a reason and he acts the part in every sense of the word. A Goron who is very much about taking care of his folks. From leading all of Goron City to prosperity however he's able to to even giving his own life to try and save every single one of his people from Volvagia.
Darunia owned a replica of the Megaton Hammer. Its visage and creation was a combined effort between himself and Biggoron. Darunia hatched the idea to have it made shortly after Young Link destroyed King Dodongo. Fearing that they would run into another situation where their food supply would be cut off, Darunia made sure to have a means to destroy obstacles that threatened Goron City - a myth from Goron legend that the chief saw fit to make a reality. Combined with Biggoron's master steel craftsmanship and a bit of magic that he had imbued into it, Darunia saw to it that no one would be able to wield the ‘Megaton Hammer’ save for himself and Biggoron. It isn't until he awakens as the Sage of Fire, after Link destroys Volvagia in the Fire Temple and ultimately returns the actual Megaton Hammer to the Gorons, that he is able to summon and wield the real thing.
He is a bit of a hard ass. He's not quick to accept help if he doesn't want it (as we saw in Ocarina of Time), mostly because he feels as chieftain of the Gorons, he's capable of doing whatever it is he needs to do on his own. Darunia is incredibly strong, he's aware of this, but that strength can make him stubborn, and it takes him an inane amount of time to admit his shortcomings on a personal level. Being a leader everyone looks up to makes it hard for him to show vulnerability. When he's in a good mood though, he can be a little impish. Loves to give noogies and bear hug at any given opportunity. Definitely need to watch out for those hearty head pats lest ones end up in the ground.
During his time as chief, he remained undefeated in the Goron track races. All that raw power he possesses showed when he was able to launch himself at speeds that left even the heads of other Gorons spinning. His son, Link, was very fond of watching his father race - it was an activity of interest that he shared with Darunia - and the two would roll on the track together quite often. When Darunia set off to the Fire Temple to try and save the kidnapped Goron citizens, his son curled up onto the racetrack in the city and rolled continuously (until actual Link's arrival), the action serving as a means of comfort for him knowing his father was potentially heading to his death.
Darunia can't help but dance to lively music due to the royal family! At first Darunia despised showing up for diplomatic meetings with other figureheads to yammer on about the ongoings of Hyrule, but the one year he happened to be at the castle town grounds during a festival. The blaring music with its up-tempo beats had him moving his feet in no time once he caught the rhythm. That's how people learned that Darunia was a pretty animated dancer, and how Darunia himself learned that was his favorite way to destress.
Has wrangled bulls for the farmers in Kakariko Village as well as Talon over in Lon Lon Ranch. Every once in a while they'll get loose, and seeing as how they have big horns and even bigger bodies, no Hylian in their right mind would dare try to round them up themselves. Often that becomes a task they call upon Darunia for, which he actually enjoys doing. There isn't too much on Death Mountain that challenges his strength so being able to go toe to toe with a beast that actually makes him work? He's all in. As soon as people hear the Goron chief pounding on his chest in a battle cry, they know that bull is as good as caught.

"Eh, not missing much appearance wise other than the usual signs of illness that most will show."
There wasn't much to being sick, whether mortal or immortal — whether Celestial, Yaoguai, or Mortal, they all shared similarities in that regard. To varying degrees of course. It was just the most common to get sick were of the mortal kind more often than not. Otherwise? Not much change or difference to it.
Following after MK and bracing for no doubt the headache this was all about to give him. Ugh, he was already annoyed by this all and they hadn't even begun. His past experience dealing with the sick and stubborn king already playing in his head as they made their approach. Hopefully, Wukong wouldn't be as stubborn as he had been in his youth about taking care of himself when sick. The shadow could only hope.
It wasn't long before they were greeted by the visage of the Great Sage — crossing his arms and raising his brows at the other before them. Leave it to the golden simian NOT to be resting like he was suppose to. Pain in the damn ass as always.
"Shouldn't you be in bed?"
Tumblr media
" — you look awful."
Ignoring the reaction that was trying to escape MK at the sight of his mentor's state. It wasn't too hard to tell the kid wanted to burst into laughter BUT wanted to remain composed. Instead focusing on how to deal with getting the sick simian to bed and resting WITHOUT having to fight him on it.
"Honestly I haven't even gotten a good look at Monkey King, I just saw him rapidly changing between his other forms and could hear that he was sick. I just wasn't about to try and tempt fate when taking care of him when he can't control himself." He may look up to Monkey King and was training to be like him but he wasn't going to attempt something like this without help from someone who knew what to do.
Tumblr media
Fortunately the trip back to Flower Fruit Mountain wasn't long, climbing down from his magic cloud before having it vanish. Quickly MK went over to knock on the door a few times and called out "Monkey King? It's me MK I came to check on you with someone-" What he saw when Monkey King opened the door made him bite down on his tongue and try to keep a straight face at the sight of Monkey King now.
Tumblr media
Monkey king stood there in just some fuzzy pink pajama bottoms but that wasn't what made his appearance look comical. What made him appear that way was he wasn't even able to use his powers to hide how he really looked, his fur looking very fluffy on both his body and his head. Even his tail looked fluffy, the simian using a hand to move some of the fur out of his eyes to look at MK. "Kid what are you doing here and why is Macaque standing behind you?" Turning his head to the side as he let out a sneeze, quickly changing into a butterfly then an eagle and lastly a ladybug before turning back to normal.

Irony
Monkey King was always awful at keeping secrets.
Posted on Ao3 as well! (1395 words)
MK caught Monkey King rubbing his left eye. He frowned at the sight of it; it had been itching a lot lately, by what Monkey King had said when MK first questioned him about it.
“It’s no big deal, bud. It’s just healing.”
Healing from what? His mentor had never explained what had caused him to return so late, covered in scratches and minor injuries nonetheless.
What concerned MK the most was that while the simain’s injuries were healing steadily, the nick above his left eye was not. The cut eyebrow refused to grow back, and the line began to form into the beginnings of… a scar.
Now Monkey King was constantly scratching at the eye, rubbing at it in every spare moment he was on the ship.
He wasn’t the only one who had noticed of course, MK had shared a glance with Tang after a particular instance that Monkey King was sweeping the deck of the ship (he was given the job as to not overexert himself, much to his dismay). He had paused and cursed under his breath, and upon the observant looks of Tang and MK, he remarked he had gotten some dust in his eyes.
Yeah, MK snorted in disbelief as the king turned away. For the fourteenth time that day. Tang didn’t look as though he had believed him either, but he chose not to comment. Monkey King was awful at keeping secrets, it would seem.
MK had decided he was finally going to get to the bottom of this, once and for all. By confronting his mentor about the problem at hand.
Before he could do that, however, Monkey King yelled and jumped away from his sweeping spot. The broom clattered to the floor, and in its place a puff of purple smoke erupted.
“It’s Macaque, everyone get back-“ Monkey King started, before he was cut off by snickering.
“Aww, Peaches. You ruined the surprise.” A blurry visage could be seen in the smoke, before Monkey King cleared it with a brush of his hand. “Come on. A little element of mystery never hurt anyone.”
MK couldn’t believe his eyes. Macaque was here on the ship! But how?
Macaque turned over to the boy, ignoring Monkey King. The others began to emerge from different parts of the ship from the noise.
“Uhhh who the heck is that?” Pigsy questioned. “You said Macaque? Who the heck is-“ He was cut off by Mei.
Mei’s priorities lay somewhere else. “Evil Monkey King?”
Tang and Sandy both remained silent, opting to observe the situation.
“Good to see you’re still alive, kid.” The shadow smirked.
“Excuse me.” Monkey King cleared his throat, making himself known. “I’m giving you five seconds to get the hell off this ship before I throw you off of it.”
Macaque finally faced Monkey King, looked him up and down, and guffawed. His lighter counterpart looked rightly offended at the disrespect that the other was showing and snarled.
“Oh, this is rich!” Macaque hugged himself and doubled over in laughter, while the others looked on in confusion. Monkey King only glared. “You seriously think you can take me on right now? Like that? Come on!”
While MK was still a little peeved at his mentor for leaving him on ‘vacation’, he wasn’t angry at him and therefore felt a right to defend him. “Hey! He can kick your a-“ A sharp look from Pigsy cut him right off. “euh- butt- any day of the week!”
Macaque wiped a tear off his face. “Doubt that, kiddo.” He straightened himself, addressing the crew. “Well, not right now at least. I’m surprised he still has enough power to hold up that glamour.”
Monkey King froze.
“What glamour?” Tang questioned.
MK slowly turned to face towards the monkey in question, who in turn slowly began to avoid his gaze.
“Uhhhh…”
Macaque decided to pour more salt onto the wound. “I guess it is sort of… eye-ronic. But also kind of a waste? I mean… you could be saving your powers for something more useful.”
Oh. Oh shit.
Sandy’s brows furrowed. “Monkey King, what is he talking about?”
“I don’t know, big guy.” Monkey King laughed nervously. “I don’t know if you’ve met this guy, probably not, but he’s a trickster. A liar. I wouldn’t trust him if I were you.”
“Oh ho ho, you wound me.” Macaque pretended to swoon, placing a paw over his heart. But his grin remained razor sharp. “Just like your eye. Who did that to you?”
MK’s heart dropped.
His suspicions were confirmed.
All eyes went on Wukong.
“You son of a bitch.” Monkey King growled out. “Nothing happened. Drop it.”
“Can you just give it up already?” Macaque sighed, shrugging. “We already know the jig is up. Gods, you were always horrible at keeping secrets.”
The king didn’t move, insisting on standing in place glaring at the other. The macaque stared back.
“Monkey King.” MK started, causing the older to startle and look over at him with wide eyes. “Please.”
They remained like that for a few moments, before the king finally relented. He sighed, air leaving him as well as a few wisps of magic.
MK knew what was coming, but he couldn’t hold back the gasp at what he saw. He wasn’t the only one either, as Mei dropped her phone and Sandy nearly lost his grip on Mo.
A milky white eye stared back at him. It wasn’t as intense as what Macaque’s had been by any means, but it still sent him reeling. It had healed mostly fine, with only a few blemishes in the skin here and there.
“I didn’t want you to see.”
“What?” MK found that the words tumbled out of him before he could stop them.
Monkey King’s gaze hardened. Even with that one eye out of commission, it held so much emotion. “You’d be discouraged. Right? The amazing Monkey King. Great Sage Equal to Heaven. Half blind. Partially deaf.”
MK’s eyes widened. “Wait, you’re-“
The monkey continued, wiggling his finger. “Can’t use my shapeshifting powers anymore. So, you know, that’s probably a good sign.” He heaved a heavy, self deprecating sigh. “You know when that started?”
Everyone was silent.
“After I gave you my powers.”
What.
Wait, then that would mean...
The simian cut that line of thinking off right away. “I want to tell you this now. This was never your fault, MK. I chose you as my successor for a reason.” Monkey King walked over to the boy and took a hold of the boy’s hand. “This was how it was meant to be.”
“What do you mean?!” MK sputtered out. “You mean that Lady Bone Demon-“
“Well, no! Not her, no! I was supposed to take on anything that you couldn’t handle, I was supposed to be at your side.”
“Holy shit.” Pigsy muttered. “It’s happening. Actual communication.”
Tang hushed him.
Macaque snorted.
Monkey King ignored the three. “But Spider Queen happened. Lady Bone Demon happened. It was a lot more than I thought you could handle, and while I was right, I should have never kept you in the dark about it. I know I’ve been a shitty mentor, but I’m learning as much as you are right now.”
MK nodded in agreement to his words. “So, are you going to teach me more?”
Monkey King smiled. “Of course, bud. Especially more of the fighting stuff. While we can’t really use our powers at the moment… there are other methods we can use.”
“So, like…” MK turned to Macaque, who smirked.
“That’s right, kid. You can never have too many teachers. Right?”
Monkey King started to reply, before Mei cut him off with an inquiry. “Yeah, so uh, who are you? Like a hot version of Monkey King?”
“A hot version of m- excuse me?!” Monkey King squawked in indignation. “I am too hot!”
“I’m not so sure about that Peaches…” Macaque drawled.
Monkey King whirled on the macaque. “You used to date me, so you definitely thought I was hot! So shut up!”
You what?!” MK screeched.
That was the breaking point for the crew. They all broke out in noise, all firing questions at the two.
“Look what you’ve done.” The simian groaned. “I should have thrown you off the ship when I first saw you.”
“Aww, you love me.”
