Here is some little trivia. - Val comes from another dimension. - For the longest time she thought that she was on some weird show that plays pranks on people , large amount of encounters she had witnessed she thought that there were hidden cameras ready to shout 'You've been pranked!' (When she saved Mokuba and hung down from a construction building , she thought that she was the star of some stunt scene, until she realized that she could actually die at the time lmfao.) - Val thought that Yugi's hair was a wig at first and still think it is , until she confirmed that it wasn't later on. - Her best friend is a big debate between Joey and Mai , but the good part is that she can secretly be their wingman without them even knowing. - Val was really creeped out by Seto and his 'obsession' talk about her 'owning a Blue-Eyes' but later on he began to tone it down a bit and rarely bring it up. He really hated her at the start , like with a burning passion , he thought that she is just some lucker wannabe that made it to the second round with pure beginners luck and nothing more , only to be proven wrong later on. - Mokuba was the first to even acknowledge Seto's feelings , because he noticed the change in behavior when he was around Val during and after the Wakening the Dragon's arc, it was hard to pick up at first because of how their whole little hate relationship started , but Mokuba began to notice the smallest of gestures and little things he does, so he was basically Seto's wingman undercover. Of course Seto would never admit it let alone even consider it to begin with (because he has no time for that lmfao) , but during my arc he began to feel slight jealousy when Val would interact a whole lot with Allister. (There will be more bonding between the two of them in my own Arc that will take place after wakening the dragons <3) - Her ancient Egyptian reincarnation is the complete opposite of Val. Akerai is very calm and collected with a very sunshine like attitude and personality , while Val is a full on tsundere that doesn't take shid from anyone, she could be quite blunt but sometimes acts so she would have the upper hand in some situations. She can be sweet and caring however , only to the people she cares the most about. Thank you again so much for the ask! I have yet to write more about her since I am upgrading her , so in the meantime I hope you enjoyed these little headcanons and ideas ;w;~.

Not to be a downer, but I actually finished my novel and now I’m confused because I don’t want to publish it. I don’t even particularly want anyone other than maybe my two close friends to even read it. What on Earth did I write 40k words (which I know is not really long enough for a novel, but it’s still far and away the longest thing I’ve ever written) for? I know people say “write for yourself” but like… am I just wasting my time? Help?

There's No Such Thing as Wasted Writing

I'm going to tackle this two ways...

#1 - "Write For Yourself" - there's a reason this common phrase has echoed through the Hall of Writers since time immemorial. It's because it's true! Writing doesn't have to be anything more than a pastime. It doesn't have to be anything more than something you do for your own benefit and enjoyment.

I have an in-joke with family members about how any time one of us does something the least bit crafty, DIY, skilled, whatever, a particular family member will always say, "You did a great job! You should do it for a living!" Like, someone can't even crochet a Kawaii mushroom without being pressured to turn it into an Etsy dynasty, or paint a cabinet without being pressured to become the next Property Brothers. And that's such a BANANAS capitalistic mindset, isn't it? This idea that nothing can be done purely for our own enjoyment. That you can't just write a novel because you want to... you can only write it if you plan to share it or publish it? It's just so silly.

And, the thing is, we don't even apply that mentality to a lot of other things people do purely for enjoyment. No one is streaming all of Bridgerton in two nights and saying, "I enjoyed every second of that, but why did I do that? Such a waste of time!" No one spends an hour strumming their guitar under the stars on a beach, and then says, "That was so relaxing and fun, but I didn't charge for that performance and I didn't record it to sell it, so that was obviously a waste of time."

You know what I mean?

#2 - And Anyway, Practice Makes Perfect - And if you keep writing--even if you continue not to share or publish--you'll get better and better with each story you write. Which, maybe all that means is you get to appreciate your own improvement, but also, should you ever change your mind and decide to write something to share or publish, you've now spent time honing your skills. Even if those other stories never see the light of day, they're still an important foundation of the writer you become. Do you know how many unpublished novellas, novels, and short stories I have? Too many to count. Hundreds of fan-fiction and original fiction short stories I've only shared with one or two other people, if anyone. A dozen or so novels and novellas that have only been read by a few people, and some haven't been read by anyone else or have only been read by my CPs. I would never consider those stories and novels and novellas to be a waste of time, because I know every single one made me a better writer. My published work is better because I wrote those other things.

So, I hope that makes you feel better. At the very least you hopefully enjoyed writing your novel--or at least got something out of it--and you definitely honed your writing skills, which matters! ♥

♦  loves to do things for you just because, carrying your bags, making you coffee/tea when you working, because you deserve to be pampered, her love language is acts of service no doubt in my mind

♦  when it comes to gift giving it’s usually offhanded like, “Yeah I saw it in the store and bought it, no big deal.”

♦  she’s pretty stubborn so getting her to do things is hard but she ends up doing them because it’s you, and she would do anything for even if she complains 70% of the time

♣  whenever he plans dates it’s the out there stuff he thinks you’ll enjoy doing, but he doesn’t mind having dinner at home with a good movie or some music either

♥  love language is words of affirmation, mainly because growing up Lorelai thought her how important communication is in all her relationships

♥   Rory doesn’t really like dates in crowded places, she enjoys the occasional concert or outing to a busy place, but low-key dates will always be superior in her opinion

♥ getting her to do something she doesn’t want to is impossible, she’s very stubborn and when she doesn’t want to do something it’s very hard to convince her to do it

Could I ask for some headcanons of Poseidon falling in love with a mermaid reader? but she is not in love with him, she wants to know the human world and marry a human she had seen on a boat (reference to Ariel from the little mermaid, perhaps). How he'd react to you falling for...a euughh human. But I want to add a twist, just like in the little mermaid movie where Ariel loses her voice to get human legs? I hope you don't mind. 🙇‍♀️

- so to be fair, it is kinda his fault for being such an asshole to you. You were just praising him for how cool he was, and he just coldly shrugged you off.

- thinking back to it, okay, maybe it kinda was his fault. He's not very good with that type of communication, he's not the guy to talk to when you're feeling all happy and giddy or whatever.

- but now that he liked you? Wow. He won't admit it, but it's very obvious to all the fishes and creatures within the range of sight—that he has a big soft spot for you. YOU, a little mermaid who spends most of her free time swimming around, looking for cute pretty trinkets and things that sunk down to the ocean floor. And maybe also looking for a prince charming.

- he didn't realize it before it was too late. When you fell for a young man on a boat, sailing across the sea. You fell deeply in love with him, even trying to crawl up a rock to see him, to see his face and what it was like up there.

- you made a deal with a sea witch, who offered to give you human legs of you traded your voice, which was a bit suspicious. But hey! You wanted him, right? So you took it, dreaming of a new life with your prince charming.

- Poseidon had overheard about it through the grapevine, hearing about how a mermaid was able to live on land after making deals with a sea witch. This quickly ended in poseidon ordering the servant to get further information, since something in his gut told him to look into it further.

- and so, he found out. He found out you got married to a human, left the ocean and even going as far as trading your own voice to get human legs. You're trying to tell him he won't be able to see you swimming with that beautiful tail he's always had his eyes on?

He. Was. Pissed.

- he killed the sea witch, taking back the necklace that stored your voice. A voice that was meant for ONLY HIM to hear and listen to. It was all so sudden, your legs started to transform back into your tail, making you look at your beloved, who watched in horror.

- you quickly ran back to the deck, crying as the thunder rumbled and the sea roaring. The last thing you remember is a big earthquake, as well as a huge tsunami, swallowing the place whole and drowning all life forms into its waters.

- so yeah, he killed your significant other. Mans is not called a tyrant for nothing.

- you really thought he's the type to be like "as long as you're happy"? I'm sorry to break it to you...but..this is Poseidon we're talking about. It's not about who's happy, as long as he gets what he wants in the end.

- he'll make sure there's an indoor pool of water in his palace, forcing you there to stay. Or maybe just trap you in Atlantis to roam the ruins, to remind you of how your prince charming's palace will look like it soon.

- I actually think that he rather have you wearing nothing on your top. He likes it better if you just have your whole chest out for him to see and look at. He can decorate you with jewelry and other Accessories too. Make sure you look pretty for him.

- you may or may not end up developing stolkholm syndrome, but either way, you'll still be his wife. His alone, his forever. If you guys need to breed, he'll just have some other sea witch give you human legs, WITHOUT paying a price. They'll have their body cut in half if they ever try to take anything in return. Once breeding time is over, he'll have you turned back into a mermaid.

- you guys would probably have around 4-5 or maybe 8 kids if you both are really feeling it. He can make that shi happen until you can't birth any more out.

- he'll keep you hidden from the world,any single mention of you will quickly be silenced with a glare from him. He rather not share.

- no, you won't call him by his name like you're somewhat his buddy or something. You need to call him "lord Poseidon". It arouses him better, and because he likes to remember the hold he has on you.

- believe me, when he needs to go to a meeting in Valhalla or something, servants there gotta prepare a big tank full of water. Cus he's bringing you with him. You better be thankful he's even letting you see the outside world, because it's not very often that he lets you out like this.

- he's so moody and does not let the littlest thing slide. They got you the wrong type of water in your tank? They will die on the spot. It could be as little as putting a little decorative item in the tank that might hurt you, or not making the tank pretty enough for you.

- whatever it is, anyone who dissapoints will be sliced.

- you are a pampered little queen, getting such good treatment from everyone and everything within your range. So best if you don't ask, and just deal with it. Cus angering him is not worth it, I'm serious.

He was stiff. Too stiff, as though he was an iceblock and would fall over and shatter immediately. Considering his clumsiness, he would definitely shatter on impact.  You hadn’t climbed up half of the staircase to Shakky’s bar, and at the rate of Rosi’s trembling, he would fall sooner rather than later.

“Rosi, it’ll be fine,” you said, bumping your shoulder with his. 

The bouquet of flowers in his hands were trembling violently.  Petals fluttered loose.  If he didn’t calm down soon, he would present a flowerless bouquet to Shakky, and probably would face Ray’s wrath.

You clamped a hand around his, to steady his hands.  As always, he was warmer.  But today, he was warmer than usual. 

The nerves. 

Dragging him to a stop, almost causing Rosi to faceplant up the stairs, if you hadn’t held onto him, you turned him to face you.  “It’s fine, you know.  They’re not my actual parents,” you mused.

“I know.  But you know, they’re important to you.  And they’re as good as.  From what you’ve told me.”

Not to mention that two days ago, you and Rosi had run into Shakky and Ray on the main thoroughfare in the archipelago.  Rosi had become completely frozen when he realised who he was facing, and why they were talking to you.  You hadn’t realised until later how many cogs had turned in Rosi’s mind, until he’d almost broken down in panic in the living room later that same day.

“Oh my god, did I just meet my father-in-law? And what does he think about what I do with you? He lives here… he’s your father—”

“He’s not my father—”

“—figure… do I bring flowers?  Bow the ten strictures of honourable husbandry and beg his blessing—”

“—Rosi…what are you talking about?” you demanded.

“I didn’t know…” he moaned.

Later, you realised grimly, that Rosi had taken that meeting extremely seriously. Though neither of you had ever talked about what you were to each other.  Lovers.  Partners for life.  Married.  After everything you and he had been through, being married or not didn’t matter to you.  Not in the way it had mattered to you when you were younger and still very much a Corvan on Corva, when your world hadn’t come crashing down.

Though you explained this to Rosi, he’d insisted on doing it right.  Just this once.  Because he had no intentions of doing it better another time.

“I love you,” he said.  “I want no one else.  You met my…father-figure.  It’s only right I do the same.”

You probably should have clarified that while you greatly respected Ray, it was probably Shakky that he should worry about.

“It’ll be fine,” you told him.  “They won’t eat you.  Just be yourself.”

Rosi didn’t look convinced.  Though he trembled a little less.  You removed your hands and cupped his cheeks, kissing him lightly.  “Even if they object—which they won’t—it doesn’t change anything about us.” 

You highly doubted they would object.  Despite how you saw them, both Shakky and Ray had been highly amused when you’d told them what Rosi wanted to do. 

“Do you want me to grumble and growl at him?” Ray asked, chuckling.

You gave him a pointed look.  “You’re not my father.”

“Does he need the talk?” Shakky offered, a feline look to her eyes and her lips curling up at the corner of her mouth.

“Please don’t,” you said, patiently. You didn’t want to know what Shakky’s ‘talk’ referred to.  Somehow you weren’t entirely sure she meant the ‘don’t hurt her talk’ either. 

You looked between them.  “Look, be nice.”  As if they wouldn’t.  But you never knew.

He blinked, and you felt the tension in body seep away.  “Alright,” he said, inhaling deeply.  “Alright.”

You smiled.  “Come on.”  You pulled away and began the climb up.

Only to hear a gasp and the thump-thump-thump of the last thing Rosi needed right now.

You jerked around in time to see him tumbling down the stairs, his bouquet flying off in a random direction, blinking out of sight. 

“Damn it! Rosi!”
