Dull eyes stare at the water in the basin, clear water turning cloudy and polluted with the blood that Seiroku wipes away. It's easier to clean as much of it off here as he can before the bath. And he hasn't felt this disgusting in a long time, stomach turning while his eyes close for a moment to just breathe.

He's doing the right thing. He's doing what he wants to do ; unweaving the golden strings he'd woven into the members of the Date clan before. It had been a brilliant plan when VENGEANCE had been the only desire consuming Seiroku's mind. When he'd only craved blood in his mouth. Having his healing strings woven into anyone injured meant he could decimate the clan in one move in the future. A brilliant, bloody slaughter that would be like the best bite of food in the world. Now? Now it only feels appalling. So he works carefully ; removing his golden strings when they return with new injuries, setting their realities CORRECT as he ensures they heal properly.

Seiroku moves away from the basin and towards the waiting private tub. But his mind is still focused on the work he's been pouring his efforts into along side his usual work. taking on extra hours much to some of the medical staff's concern. A new thought had dawned - he wonders if he SHOULD be doing this. But for a very different reason now. The reverse side of the coin is that with his strings in place, most of the Date members are UNLIKELY TO DIE. His strings will make them easier to fix and harder to kill to begin with.

He climbs into the tub and winces at the sting of the water. It's hot but it also feels like exactly what he needs. He should give them a choice, right? If they learned of what his strings can do? The people should choose.

A violent, piercing memory reawakens with vivid colors and intensity ; he feels physically SICK at the memory. Of him being used to create an immortal army, of being denied sweet Death to keep his former clan alive. the mockery and degrading and insults and - Seiroku clutches onto the side of the tub fiercely and it feels like he forgets how to breathe. SOMA WOULDN'T DO THAT. Soma would probably kill anyone who dared to try to force him to. But Seiroku struggles to breathe all the same, hunched over and trembling and he shoves the memories back and feels a pulse deep in the black crystal in his chest. He -

A hand touches his shoulder and Seiroku flinches away, startled at the act. But it's only Soma. Of course it is. Seiroku should have heard him, but he'd been too lost in his own thoughts, dragged down and drowning in black tar of despair and suffering. He relaxes his shoulders and offers a worn-out smile to Soma. At least he can play it off as overworking himself again. A HABIT THEY'RE BOTH GUILTY OF. Even if only Seiroku gets the privilege of truly seeing its effects.

" Sorry, I didn't hear you. I'm okay. I just got in when the water was still a bit too hot and made me feel a bit lightheaded. " Seiroku murmurs. It feels impossible to focus on his limbs with the storm in his head. But he tries, tries to wash away at the blood. And then - I've got you. Soma's voice offers him peace like nothing else in this world does. Not even the oceans or rivers can soothe his soul the way Soma's presence alone does. What is forced relaxation at first turns genuine as he feels Soma settle beside the tub, feels how Soma helps wash away some of the blood that Seiroku missed or hadn't noticed. It helps him focus: not on the trauma of the past, but on the pleasantness of the present. How Soma's strong hands are gentle when they let his hair free from his usual ponytail style, how careful he is with the cloth. And Seiroku WOULD feel bad and guilty for Soma doing this if it wasn't for the fact he's certain the red bushi likes getting the chance to take care of him.

After a moment, Seiroku sinks back so his back rests against the edge of the tub, his head falling back against Soma's shoulder and chest. " Chima tattled on me to you, didn't she? " He asks, voice tired but amused. That girl was too smart for her own good ; she'd figured out Seiroku and Soma's interests long before anyone else. Still, a blossom of pride continued to flower in Seiroku's chest as he thought about how much promise she held - how SHE could have the life he never had as a bushi. Although she also wasn't afraid to mention to Soma or Seiroku if there was something amiss with the other. or help for surprises, a true romantic at heart that girl.

Seiroku smiles at the thought as he cranes his head a bit further back to look at Soma, his left hand raising to gently trace Soma's jawline. If Soma wanted to take care of him..Seiroku could allow him that rare pleasure. He wouldn't protest. Instead he simply tugs the other down for a moment to kiss his fiancé's lips sweetly and lets go with a soft whisper of " Thank you. "

The remark, simultaneously a subtle jab and a reminder of a (though quaint and insignificant) weakness, sets the red soul aflame in the blink of an eye and he wastes no time in glaring at his friend, only opting to shrug off the pointing finger as to not accidentally incur the other three's curiosity while the subject is still on a topic he would rather it not be on (a lucky break, without which Soma might've well yanked Shishikado's hand away). ❛ Shut up... I've been eating it. ❜ Not on this particular instance, truth be told, but rather during the many years they've spent apart. Could hardly be a fitting captain if a vegetable could hold that much of a say in his life, after all.

Yet as soon as Soma's gaze falls on the dreaded vegetable and his chopsticks direct their tips towards one of the bits, Shishikado's whispered proposal freezes his hand in place and the grand general turns towards his potential savior, hesitatingly so. ❛ You- ❜ It's a rare stroke of luck, to be able to trade his pain for something he actually enjoys, though nonetheless the red captain errs on the decision, carefully weighing both of his options. Were the other grand generals to turn around and chance upon the exchange in the midst of it, they would never let him live it down, not after he's made a point out of having grown beyond the need to have preferences for food (Naotora would point it out most of all, that little-), but if they remained distracted the whole time...

A second passes, then another, then a third, and Soma glances at their clueless friends before looking in the white soul's direction, choosing to converse his intentions with his eyes only (they're well past the need for words, knowing each other as intimately as they do). Without a sound, he imitates the click of a tongue and slowly, discreetly, reaches over to steal the mackerel from Shishikado's plate while his eggplant is pickpocketed in a trade-off that can't help but remind the red soul of its many precedents from their younger years. It's only after the mackerel safely makes it onto Soma's plate and the eggplant onto Shishikado's that he heaves a quiet sigh of relief, sparing the white soul one last conspiratory glance before returning to his food and prioritizing the mackerel over the rest.

born and raised in montréal, to two second-generation japanese-canadian immigrants, who introduced him to hockey by enrolling him into an afterschool program. like most younger siblings, it started with him tagging along on his older sisters' lessons ( caleb is the youngest of three !! ) and falling in love with the sport himself.

it quickly became apparent that caleb had a talent for hockey that was hard to ignore, and at the encouragement of his coach he joined the usa hockey national developmental program. but as much as his parents wanted to encourage caleb's ambitions, becoming a professional athlete seemed ... like too much too soon and they wanted him to have the option to fall back on something safer. honestly, caleb agreed. as a compromise, he applied to college on a sports scholarship, played for two seasons for his college, set a few records, and was signed by an nhl team by the conclusion of his sophomore season.

he's done well for himself on his current team, and was made captain a few years ago. so why berry ? well, he's realized ( through talking to his siblings + friends ) that his entire life revolves around hockey ... and maybe it's worth branching out for the remainder of his twenties. i also see him as someone who maybe joined the cast through a mutual friend who was also cast for the show .. aka lucille so potential wc there for those who are interested !

also i'm leaving things vague because things are stc as i start to write him !! also, full disclosure i'm not canadian and i barely understand hockey so ... if you're a diehard hockey fan i'm sorry !

personality / misc .

what you see is what you get with him. to people he first meets, he can kind of.. comes across as cold/intense but once you realize he just says what he means and doesn’t have a manipulative bone in his body, he’s easy to warm up to. it's one of those things where his nhl teammates and his older siblings would never describe him as stoic .. but while he does have people skills he's also ,,, lowkey shy lmao. his job requires him not to be ... but take him off the ice and it starts to show.

growing up, he wasn't exactly a celebrity in the traditional sense but he was always ... popular ? it was always known within his community that the youngest sugawara was a hockey prodigy, and that training and competing professionally and on a national / international ( junior ) stage were why he would miss school / community events / birthday parties. so while his childhood was .... more "normal" than a child star's ... but still had its quirks — he had a mostly superficial bond with kids in school who would only try to befriend him for his talent / incoming fame, but he also didn't have to deal with having famous parents or paparazzi following his every move as a preteen etc etc. but yeah ! growing up / while in school, he's always been "popular".

first impressions matter to him. i wouldn't say you're screwed forever if you make a bad first impression, but he is the type to ... factor things like that into consideration. along a similar vein, he can be particular about doing things in a certain way ( + fairly meticulous / neat ), though he's shared his space with others enough when he was younger that he also knows when to let things go.

to the right people ... he can be kinda a pushover,, more easily convinced to do things he doesn’t want to do than u might think. probably one of the friends who gets roped into buying the others' drinks all the time.

As someone who suffers a chronical illness that has no cure, Shiromi simply lives her life as wanderer without a single care although she's cunning, she doesn't mind the consequences of her actions as long as they are on her favor.

With lifeless eyes and an eternal smile curving her lips, she gives an off-putting and eerie energy that seems to terrorize the people surrounding her. However, she doesn't care as she holds little interest on what others think about her.

Still, ever since she was recluted to be part of the student council, she does have to keep in mind a certain image, mostly to match that one of her peers and fellow Student Council members due to being responsible of all students in Akademi High.

     The ultimate informant, at least... that was the title she gained according to the letter she received. It was hilarious to be told that from her perspective: it was a hobby of hers to simply gain all the information possible about someone as humans, we are all connected somehow and Shiromi knew how to exploit that human connection. Now, finding herself with fellow ultimates, she couldn't help but feel a shiver of excitement course through her body at the idea of being able to learn and, potentially, stage difficult situations for them regarding their talent or.... lack of one.

in regards to the situation that has happened with agni; i will not be writing soma as if agni has passed. instead, agni was heavily injured but saved and is in the process of recovering. soma however still thinks it was his ciel that has attacked them and has yet to be proven otherwise.

....Well. That was certainly one way to get the conversation going, wasn’t it? Better than sitting in (awkward) silence and beating around the bush ——— not that either of them could help it, given how new this was for them both. Looking one another in the eyes, face to face, without the illusion of avatars and screens getting in the way. 

Soma took note of how she didn’t look that much different than her character in real life, save for the golden glow of hair that was just shy of reaching her shoulders. In comparison to the rugged, weathered nature of their ingame attire———naturally so due to its apocalyptic setting———her (true) sense of fashion lie in wearing light, casual clothing. Perfect for the season (as the heat of the summertime spared not a soul) and for this moment shared in real time. 

...A moment that he never saw coming, in all honesty. But the world truly was a small one, and when they’d learned that they didn’t live all that far from one another (even to the point of having gone to the same school), it seemed that fate---or destiny, in Alisa’s fanciful words---had planned this from the start. What a time to be alive...

Once the astonished look upon his face had finally come to pass, it was reborn into a (bashful) smile that he attempted to hide with the back of his hand. “…T-Thanks,” he told her, for lack of better words; nervous gaze fixated to the grass beneath his old sneakers, as if doing so would help rest his nerves at all for the day (and activities) ahead. “But, y’know --- I really meant what I said before that. Since a good few of y'all liked my Danny Phantom post about wanting a less angsty spin on Danny being dissected/vivisected by his own parents or the Guys in White. I might as add this idea that's been bumping around my brain for a little while now.

Danny Phantom X Castlevania AU

Basically the idea of this is that Danny Phantom exists in the Castlevania universe. I imagine given even his ancestors were Ghost Hunters, there would probably be a few Fentons that probably met or were at least aware of the Belmonts and their battles against Dracula over the century.

Maybe Count Dracula and Pariah Dark were both servants of Chaos, acting as the Dark Lord and the Ghost King respectively under Chaos (the true big bad of Castlevania and source of Dracula's powers and potentially Pariah Dark as well in this AU).

So anyway, flash forward to the 2030's where Danny Fenton is now in college and roommates with an exchange student from Japan named Soma Cruz.

Unbeknownst to each other, Danny has earned the title of the new Ghost King after defeating Pariah Dark but he doesn't want the throne yet, meanwhile Soma is the reincarnation of Dracula himself and the candidate to become the new Dark Lord but Soma has fought Chaos itself just to defy his destiny.

Soma and Danny are completely unaware of each other initially but still deal with supernatural threats separate from each other and sometimes dealing with each other's threats.

Like Danny could be on one side of town fighting a skeleton monster or something and wondering why it's not going in the thermos, while Soma is on the other side battling some high tech ghost guy talking about a whelp.

How this AU plays out can honestly go a lot of interesting ways so here's a few of my favorites.

Danny and Soma find out about each other at some point and both find a friendship now that they can abuse their powers freely in their own dorm room for the most mundane purposes or just showing off to each other, like Soma eating completely rotten food using his Ghoul soul while Danny just causally uses his ice powers to cool things down. Maybe both also bitch about the responsibilities they never asked for nor want to deal with among trading stories of adventures.

Danny is made aware of the Dark Lord hiding in Amity Park by a local cult claiming they plan to reawaken him while Soma is made aware of the Ghost King hiding among the living by Genya Arikado (Alucard). Shenanigans ensue until both finally meet and are confused but during a battle they realize the other isn't evil and both meet with Arikado to clear things up.

Alternative to the above it has rival cults attempt to summon the Ghost King and Dark Lord to them to battle for them and both Soma and Danny appear in forms showcasing their dark powers, stare at each other with recognition and confusion, and are just processing what the fuck is going on and why these cult people are yelling at them to fight.

Soma and Danny eventually accept their titles as Dark Lord and Ghost King because they both come to an understanding, accepting their burdons so nobody else should have to and use their dark powers to protect the world to spite Chaos. With Fright Knight and Death as their right hand men (both of whom also might be dating each other).

There's probably like a bunch of other ideas this could include. Such as Genya Arikado being contacted by the Guys in White to assist them. Which leads to GIW operatives showcasing to Arikado their plans for destroying all sorts of paranormal beings such as Danny Phantom.

Meanwhile Alucard, a half vampire who knows from experience that not all supernatural beings are evil, is just staring at them blankly and wondering what's the best way to completely sabotage and destroy this entire government branch before they do something they will regret.

But it had been strategy. He’d felt disgusted walking among them all for a while, swallowing his own venom while playing. At least, until playing a part had become not playing a part, and he wasn’t quite sure when that had happened even now.

 “  Rumors? Connections? Don’t care.  “  Seiroku answers with a frown.  “  You think I want to meet someone just because of a friendship or knowledge of Soma? I’m not a lovesick puppy you know.  “  A hand lifts to halt any potential remark.  “  And before you say something about it being a way to potentially learn more about Soma, yes, I am aware of that. Still not interested.  “  He could learn it from Soma himself if it was something to be shared. So what if he missed out on funny stories?  Better than dealing with some band of bushi and their general.

    There is, however, another question in all that. “  The Date sometimes do. Not a lot mind you, but it comes up every now and again or when certain matters are discussed. But I also already knew the names and some information prior. If I hadn’t, I might  not have realized it.  “

Soma is arguably the most romantic of the guys in Public Safety, and, if Tsugaru were willing to accept the help, I’m pretty sure he could learn a thing or two when it comes to date food at least.

Or he could stick to his own tastes (albeit in a milder form) and buy some sparkling rose cider to drink, or rose syrup to put on ice cream, in yogurt, or even on salad and in curries. Seriously. It apparently enhances the spices.

Made from real edible roses grown at this specialty garden in central Japan, they’re organic, all natural colours (the syrup has added natural colour however) and they both taste like roses. I tried the sparkling drink first and it made me feel like I was surrounded inside and out by a huge flower garden. It’s such a lovely feeling.

The syrup is probably best with ice cream versus yogurt (in my opinion). Vanilla or chocolate ice cream are ideal, since there aren’t a lot of other flavours to get in the way, but I’m sure Tsugaru wouldn’t mind if you put rose syrup on matcha or even peanut butter banana ice cream. It might even make him proud.

yes actually! theyre very quiet around strangerz, more tense and aware, and give very short responsez that often make them come of az rude on accident. around friendz theyre more outgoing, louder or just in general friendly. more willing to take off their jacket and hoodie, or move up their mask to drink stuff, yknow?

ehhhh not very well. they give wandererz the benefit of the doubt each time and enough trust to let them follow behind them, but other entitiez are on much thinner ice. it takez a lot to earn their trust, but unless you give proof you plan to hurt them, they wont leave you to just die, yknow? mmm. id say they have def been backstabbed on multiple occasionz, esp during the fun war - theyd be bringing a wanderer back only to LITERALLY get stabbed, or maybe a bat to the face, or getting kicked down to the ground. theyve managed to escape nearly every time with only minor injuriez or scratchez, but it defz hurtz each time, even if they expected it.

az for betraying someone.... well. theyd never betray their closest friendz. and theyd like to think that theyd never, EVER do such a thing for even an ultimatum.

but if they were given hard proof, actual evidence, of, say.. being able to leave the backroomz? or their friendz being forever safe and protected?

theyd like to think theyd never turn their back on their friendz. but whoz to say how theyd actually act in the situation if there waz proof. :]

they like to sing! sometimez if they think theyre alone, theyll be humming to themself or muttering lyricz under their breath. itz a comfort to them :]

actz of service or wordz of affirmation, usually. theyre not AGAINST touch, but will only do that with ppl they deeply trust. will be flattered by being given giftz, and iznt against given them themself, but all in all, theyre very much a "actionz speak louder than wordz" type of guy, mixed in with a "i NEED to tell ppl they did amazing in order to show my love or i WILL die."
