persona 5 royal BrainlessSentimentality% that's where you unequip akechi's tie from him before he leaves and don't sell it so it's yours now -> fuse metatron immediately after you unlock it -> defeat shido with metatron while having joker wear the tie (bonus points if you also make metatron's itemization gun (the stats on it are good too!)) -> maybe beat yaldabaoth like that too if you're feeling it might as well -> then when akechi comes back he'll come equipped with another, second, tie-> so you can go twinsies with identical equipped akechi-ties versus maruki. #normal

the funny thing is everyone's like "oh yea a fic studying the senses of an inhuman character, that's pretty cool" but Little Do They Know i happened upon this idea by accident. Sentido started as me just messing around with the idea of hearing Life And Death, which REALLY started as a "Vash can hear dead people" kinda au lksdjfld
decided to go with less of a literal Hearing Dead People and went more of Hearing Death being the acute hearing of death-related sounds. i think this idea's pretty good tbh, even with how accidental it was

He's staring. Has been, actually, for a while now. Makoto was accustomed to moving around a lot throughout the years ever since what happened ━ happened. Maybe, in the far off haze of autopilot spanning years, long before Akira had taken the attic above as his own, he'd visited Leblanc; when he was young & quiet & dead-eyed, and quite frankly he still was still all of those things, but it was different now. Knowing what he knew. Going through what, he was finding, was a very common occurrence for people like him ( the fools, one might say. )
Yuki takes a sip of his soda from a silly straw he may or may not have brought from home as the work to close up at the end of the day buzzes around him behind the counter, Sojiro willfully turning a blind eye to the two wildcards in his Cafe in turn for that higher priority. It's a good opportunity. Makoto takes it.

.........................................................
Joel was on his knees behind Y/N, digging through her hair, checking the injury on the back of her head. "Well, good news. Just a little scrape. Head bleeds more than the rest of the body, so it only looks like it's bad."
She hummed before looking over her shoulder at him. When she felt him staring at her, she completely swiveled on the ground to face him. His eyes were studying her closely.
She sighed, "…why do you do that?"
His eyebrows furrowed, "Do what?"
She wasn't sure how to even explain her thoughts, so she dropped it, "Just nothing."
Joel didn't want to push her anymore than she already had been today, so he dropped it, too. "Go lay down, Darlin."
She smiled, standing up, "…There's that accent again."
He scoffed under his breath, standing too.
This seemed to be the longest Ellie had been quiet. So, she took it upon herself to break the moment, "How long are we gonna be here?"
Joel sighed, "We'll survey the roof in the morning."
Then he started scattering glass around the door, leading all the way to their makeshift beds, which consisted of old couch cushions.
The sound of glass falling was killing their ears, and finally, Ellie yelled out, "Joel!"
He stopped, "What?"
"What are you doing?"
"I don't want someone sneaking' up on us while we're sleepin'."
"Oh! I get it. Crunch, crunch, crunch." She got a smirk, "Are you sure you're gonna hear it?"
"Of course, I'll hear it. That's the damn point."
Joel woke up to the sound of Y/N's panicked voice. "Joel…?"
"JOEL!"
His eyes opened.
Ellie was held at gunpoint by a man in his twenties.
Y/N was still seated on the ground with her hands up in surrender.
Joel turned.
A young boy held a gun to Joel's head.
The man spoke up quickly, "Eyes on me."
Joel simply stared at him, determining his next move.
The man continued, "You don't have to worry about what to say. We don't wanna hurt you. We wanna help you."
Joel's voice was strained, "Okay…"
"Okay… um… I don't know what the next step is with something like this, but… if I lower my gun… We didn't hurt you, so you don't hurt us, right?"
Joel's eyes never left the man. "That's right."
The man tilted his head in panic, "That's a weird fucking tone, man."
Ellie spoke up, "That's just the way he sounds. He has an asshole voice. Joel, tell him he's okay."
"Everything is great."
Y/N looked over her shoulder. "Joel…"
The man was confused, "Fuck. Okay. I'm gonna trust you."
He began to sign to the boy. They communicated back and forth a few times before he spoke up again, "Okay. But if you guys try anything… yeah?"
Silence ensued before the man motioned for the boy to step back.
Joel's jaw clenched when they didn't pull their guns away, "Can I sit up?"
"…Yeah. Slow. Get up slow."
Joel did so, keeping his hands raised, "Who are you?"
"My name's Henry. That's my brother, Sam."
The five sat in the building around a lantern, eating rations.
"Where did you get these?" Henry asked.
"From Bill," Ellie answered. "He's dead."
Joel reached out, giving the rest of his portion to Sam, who took it happily. He motioned to Henry.
Henry spoke up again, "He says thank you. I'm guessing you don't have much, so, this means a lot."
Ellie smiled, "How old is he?"
"He's eight."
"Cool. I'm Ellie."
Henry's eyes moved to Y/N, waiting for an introduction.
She felt his gaze, "Oh. Uh. Y/N."
When Joel didn't answer, Ellie slapped his leg.
He grunted. "I'm Joel. Look, you ate, we didn't kill each other, let's call this a win-win and move on."
Henry nodded, "Well, I'm betting that y'all came up here to get a view of the city and plan a way out. And when the sun's up… I'll show you one."
"Highways. Downtown. Us." Henry pointed out on his makeshift map. "This whole are belongs to Kathleen."
Y/N spoke up, "She's in charge?"
Joel wrapped his arm around her waist slowly and unknowingly, as if instinct. She in turn, leaned against his side.
Henry nodded, "Leader of the resistance. So. How do we get across?" He signed to Sam.
Sam wrote on his paper tablet the word tunnels.
Joel scowled, "Kansas City has a subway?"
"No, maintenance tunnels."
"Alright. Great plan. So what do you need me for?"
Henry sighed, "You noticed anything strange about this city?"
Ellie hummed, "No infected?"
"Oh, there's infected."
Y/N connected the dots, "But not on the surface…"
Henry nodded, "Exactly."
Joel was growing angry, "So you want US going in a tunnel?"
"Everyone thinks that it's full of Infected, but I know it's not. They cleared it out like… three years ago."
Joel scoffed.
"Okay, so maybe there's one or two. That's why you're here."
"And what if there's more?"
"Like those ones that see like a bat?" Ellie asked.
Henry stepped back, "Wait. You ran into a clicker?"
Ellie smiled, "Two of 'em."
"And you're still alive. See? If it gets bad, we turn around."
Joel's scowl never left, "So THAT'S your plan?"
Y/N grabbed Joel's hand. "Joel…? Can we..?"
He leaned down, "Yeah, uh. Give us a minute"
The two walked out of the room into the hallway.
Joel sighed, "I don't know about this, sweetheart."
"Me neither."
He stared at her, "Tell me what's going on in that little head of yours."
"It's dicey but… it's all we have, isn't it? And that would make four people dependent on you."
He nodded, "How do you know we can trust this guy?"
She smiled, "Look at him, Joel. He wouldn't hurt a fucking fly. The guy is harmless."
"What if he harms you?"
She stopped. "Is that what you're worried about?"
Joel sighed, "I'm always worried. About you," he stops, trying to cover the meaning of his words, "…and Ellie. You and Ellie."
"Well," she continued, "Trust me about this one thing. When have I steered you wrong?"
Joel stepped back in thought, "That one time when-"
"-Yeah. Okay. I heard enough." She walked past him into the room. "Henry, we'll do it."
Joel was so blindly in love with her.
Here they sat in a safe room in the tunnel, waiting for daylight to end.
Y/N still hadn't recovered from yesterday's events, so Joel was insistent that she rest.
But when she tired to lay on the ground, he held her up, dragging her over to the table as he sat in a chair.
He pulled her into his lap, "Floor's too cold. You'll get sick."
That's how she ended up asleep in his lap, her head tucked in the crook of his neck as she slumbered.
"You know," Henry said, "I didn't take you as the… caring type."
Joel scoffed, "What?"
"With your… your wife," he pointed to Y/N in his lap, "and your daughter," pointing to Ellie.
Joel's voice hardened, "This isn't my family."
Henry stepped back from the chair, "Sorry, man. I… I just thought-"
"-well, you thought wrong."
He thought Y/N was asleep, but she wasn't.
And she heard every word.
The group exited the tunnels, beyond happy that their plan was working.
Ellie smiled, "So, cross the river, and then what? Where are you guys gonna go?"
"Don't know yet," Henry thought, "Probably gonna head toward-"
Gunshot.
They all ducked.
Joel grabbed at each person, "Move. Move! GO!"
They hid behind a car.
Henry was panicked, "Where is that coming from?"
Joel turned, "Shut up."
He turned to Ellie and Y/N, "You don't move, and he's not gonna hit you. I'm gonna go around, try to get in the house through the back."
"But if you go out there, he's gonna kill you." Ellie protested.
"It's dark and he has shit aim. No one is gonna kill me." He leaned towards her, "Do you trust me?"
She nodded.
He turned to Y/N, "You'll be alright."
She leaned in towards him, "Just… be careful."
He reached forward, taking a strand of her hair in between his fingers and studying it, as if it will be his last chance to. "I will be."
Joel's voice was heard from their hiding place, "RUN!"
Y/N's head perked up, "Ellie. We gotta go."
Headlights.
And soon, a snow plough began clearing out the cars leading up to the four.
They ran as fast as they could, hearing Joel firing at the car from his place in the house.
He managed to hit the driver, making the vehicle crash into the house.
It caused an explosion.
Joel watched carefully trying to locate Y/N and Ellie through the smoke.
Kathleen exited her vehicle, soldiers following suit.
And the four were hiding behind a car.
Henry spoke up, "I'll come out! Just… let the others go."
Kathleen smiled, "No. Sorry. The girls are with the man who killed Bryan. And Sam… well… Sam is with you."
"You don't understand!"
The snow plough suddenly fell through the building and into the tunnel, causing a massive hole to show.
And the sound of Infected.
The four began to run as Infected ran out from the tunnels.
In the chaos, Y/N had lost Ellie.
She made it to the tree line, looking back for her.
When Ellie was nowhere, she grumbled, taking out her gun from her pack, and going back out.
She dodged Infecting, shooting at some as she went.
When one grabbed at her arm, a bullet moved straight through its head.
Joel.
She looked up to the house in gratitude before continuing.
She finally found Ellie stabbing at Infected that were trying to attack Henry and Sam. She ran as fast as she could to them, helping Ellie finish the job. "C'mon."
Y/N led them all back to the tree line. They were only feet away when Kathleen stopped them, her gun aimed carefully. "Stop."
They watched an Infected jump at her and begin to rip at her face.
They were all frozen.
Joel grabbed at Y/N from behind. "This way. Now. Move!"
She jumped, turning around as they others began to run, "Thank you."
He nodded "Let's go."
"Think they'll be okay?" Henry asked.
They all sat in an abandoned house, the kids in the bedroom reading a comic book, the adults in the living room.
"Yeah. It's easier when you're a kid anyway."
Y/N stood on shaky legs, "I need fresh air."
Joel's eyes watched her carefully, "Hey. Don't wander, alright?"
She turns back with a defiant look, "Not like you'd care."
And she shut the door behind her.
Joel stepped outside a little while later.
Y/N was sitting on the porch steps, staring out at the stars.
He stood behind her, "You alright?"
She turned as far as she could towards him, "I'm fine."
Joel didn't like that answer.
He sighed, moving to sit next to her. When she didn't look at him, he grabbed her jaw gently, pulling it towards him. His voice was soft, as it always was with her, "Hey. You're obviously not fine. And what the hell was that back there? Tell me what's going on."
She stared into his eyes, trying to decide what to say to him.
He tried to make her sit in the silence, but even he couldn't handle it. "How am I supposed to fix what's wrong if I don't know what it is, sweet girl?"
She scoffed, "I just wish you'd stop doing that."
"Doing what?"
She turned her head away from his hand, "Quit looking at me… like… like that."
Joel looked confused, "I don't get it."
She sighed deeply, "You look at me and you talk to me like… like I mean something to you, Joel. It's frustrating."
He leaned back in shock. "You… you think I… I don't care about you?"
She laughed slightly, standing up and walking out into the yard slightly, "You've made that much clear, Joel. You said it yourself."
How could she think that? Joel began to ponder anything and everything he's ever said to her. It was angering him, "I've never said those words to you. I care about you."
"Only because I'm Tess's sister."
"Watch. Your. Mouth."
She paused, watching Joel stand on the stairs. Her tone dropped to a quiet mumble, "I think I've been on this journey long enough. I should just go."
Joel stepped down one of the stairs, "I've already said it before. You're not going anywhere. I want you here."
"Don't fucking lie to me, Joel!" She yelled, "You don't even consider me family!"
Oh.
She heard that.
He sighed, trying to control his tone, "No one wants you to leave. I need you on this trip… and Ellie. She needs you."
"I just want you to be honest."
"What do you want from me, baby?"
They just stared at each other.
"I want you to tell me what you want from me, Joel."
He stood in thought, before descending the stairs. "There are no wants in this world now, sweet girl. You and I both know that."
"You don't need me to be around. I'm extra weight."
"LISTEN TO ME WHEN I TELL YOU YOU'RE FUCKING NOT!"
Her eyes hardened at his loud tone. "Don't try to spare my feelings. You don't want me around and I see it. Just…" her eyes saddened at his look, "…stop looking at me like that. Please."
She moved past him, going back up the porch stairs.
"Darlin', wait."
She sighed, turning around.
But she was thrown off by the sudden feeling of his lips on hers.
One hand wrapped around her waist, the other across her back, pulling her closer.
He pulled away.
"There are no wants in this world, but I do. I want you."
Her eyes scanned his face inquisitively, checking for the truth.
"You can look all day, sweet girl. I'll always tell you the truth. Please, stay."
She nodded, pulling away from his arms. "Okay. I'll… I'll stay."
His shoulders slumped slightly. "Uh...good."
He moved past her to go inside, but she gently tugged at his sleeve.
He turned to her.
And she kissed him back.
He hummed into the kiss, pulling her to him once again.
He had always wondered how soft her lips were.
And now he knew.
She pulled away this time, "Let's go inside. I'm fucking cold."
Joel chuckled. He shrugged off his jacket, placing around her shoulders. "I think I like it out here more." He gently kissed her lips again. "I'll keep you warm."
She smiled, "I love when you look at me like that."

Tumblr media
'...I still got love for you
Your braids like a pattern
Love you to the moon and to Saturn
Passed down like folk songs
The love lasts so long...'
"There's my favorite actress of all time, Jenna goddamn Ortega!"
You shouted with your arms out, ready for a hug, while running over to Jenna in the freezing cold. She was clad in a puffy hoodie and comfortable jogging pants, and she had her beanie on, wrapped around her head along with her own pair of headphones, preparing for the impact of your body-crushing hug.
"Y/n, y/n! No, slow down!" she screamed before toppling down to the snowy ground along with you, your arms wrapped around hers as you laughed together in harmony.
She sat up, your body going in rhythm with hers, "You really love that line, don't you?" She chuckled before cupping your cheeks with her hands. She muttered a quiet sorry, noticing how you flinched at the cold touch.
"Hey, you've finally accomplished your goal. You deserve it, Jenna." You loved saying her name, no amount of terms of endearment could ever beat the love and devotion you had for it.
Jenna looked at you, a smile covering her face as her dimples took over and her freckles became more visible to you, a sense of hopeless romance reflected in both of your eyes before pulling you in with her hands and planting her lips against yours.
It hasn't been one day since you last kissed her and oh how you missed the taste of her lips on yours. It's like your problems melted away by her scent and the taste of her lipbalm.
Before you knew it, you and Jenna had become the IT couple of the year. It even surprised you how the world knew the both of you were dating in the first place considering how Jenna never really posts on social media about her personal life and neither do you. But with how paparazzis work and how Jennas fans work harder than the devil, you can see now why your relationship with Jenna got blasted online.
Now, the two of you were the global love team, featured in commercials, advertisements for certain brands, and even you trying a hand at acting. You occasionally made appearances as Jenna's love interest in a show, though your role was more of a background character, the audience always loved seeing you together with Jenna.
In each film you directed, Jenna was sure to be in it, and she always became the character you couldn't bear to kill off even with a gun to your head.
Jenna always assured you that it was perfectly fine if her character was killed off since she's an amazing actress who pulls all her stunts so flawlessly, but watching her act getting shot in the head, stabbed, or possibly tortured in the horror movies you were set to direct? Just right in front of you? Hell, you'd rather do that to yourself with no pay.
But of course, like Jenna always ranted to you about, the entertainment industry was ass. Jenna warned you after you guys made it official that you'll be under the spotlight for a couple months, or even years. You couldn't go outside for even a minute without seeing a paparazzi literally in the bushes with a huge goddamn camera as if you can't see them. But if that was the price to pay just for Jenna to be beside you at all times, you'd deal with it even if you'll have paparazzi surrounding your coffin soon.
"Y/n?" she said, waving her hands in front of you, as if the only thing keeping you grounded was your tight grip on her waist. "I have something to tell you."
"Yeah? Yeah, sorry, what is it?"
"I'm moving in with you."
"What?"
Damn, you were certainly not ready for that.
"If— If that's okay, of course—"
"It's always okay, it's more than okay, Jenna!" You took her hands into yours, shaking them with excitement. "When are you moving? Actually, why are you moving?"
"It's been months into our relationship, y/n. I don't like how you always drive to my apartment every day just to see me." She stood up, lifting you by your grip, "also, I'm moving next week. I still have a schedule to clean up on."
You stood up alongside her, walking backward while facing Jenna as she walked beside you. "But driving to your apartment is my favorite part of the day, Jenna."
She sighed, "Okay, you choose, driving miles to my apartment or waking up beside me?"
"Definitely the latter." You picked, way too instantly, pointing a finger at her and clicking your tongue while she laughs.
"See? It'll be fun. For the both of us." She ran beside you then took your hand, pushing her body to be against yours as you smiled under your breath. Oh, how you loved being in her presence.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two of you approached the front door, kicking off your shoes while Jenna placed hers gently near the entrance. You turned on the lights as you headed for the kitchen, calling out, "You want something to drink, Jenna?" while noticing Jenna was still at the doorway.
She immediately turned the corner upon hearing your voice. A small smile played on her lips as she looked over at you, one of your hands on your hips as you scanned the refrigerator for ingredients. "I'm good. Thanks, y/n."
"Make yourself at home, Jenna. Since you are moving in," you said, glancing over your shoulder. You noticed Jenna looking around your house, finding the interior and atmosphere both familiar and yet vaguely new.
"You got it fixed?" she called out after noticing the DSLR camera you always loved and adored on top of the coffee table. You had it fixed for the holidays and for Jenna, of course, considering how both of you always enjoyed making videos with it in the past. You figured it was time to revive those memories.
"Yup! I had to. Its got my treasured moments in it." You approached her. After scanning your near-empty refrigerator, you took the DSLR camera in your hands and handed it to her. "I wanted to do a Christmas special on it, this time, with you on here."
"Christmas special?" She looked up at you, smiles and all. You remained the same for her—the one who always loved making videos, even if you were too scared to post them online or just didn't have a reason to. Nonetheless, you gave your best in those videos, and it truly brought out your happiest side.
"Didn't even know that was possible. I mean, no offense, but this looked like it got run over by a bullet train." She fiddled with your camera, turning it on and scrolling through the photos and videos. She was surprised to find old videos she hadn't seen the last time she turned it on.
You chuckled at Jenna's comment. "Okay, I'll admit it was pretty busted, but I found a technician who worked wonders on it. And about the Christmas special, well, it's going to be the first video I filmed in a long while."
"Long while? You haven't filmed something in this?" She looked at you, concern filling her eyes. She always knew you were the one in the friendgroup always recording a moment, even in the past she had heard, so why stop?
You sat down with her, "Ever since you left, I haven't been able to record. Even if I did, I'd just delete it anyway. Nothing is ever perfect without you, Jenna. I didn't realize how much it meant to me until I couldn't bring myself to do it without you." Your voice dwindled down into a whisper as you took her free hand that was beside yours, gently grazing your thumb on her palm. The vulnerability in your voice was something Jenna liked about you, how you spoke your mind whenever you were with her.
"I never knew," Jenna admitted, her fingers gently intertwining with yours. "I'm sorry, y/n."
You nodded, a small smile playing on your lips before you checked your phone for the time. "Okay, sappy moment over!" You immediately stood up, putting your phone in your pocket, "I have to go and buy some groceries. Wanna to come, Jenna?"
"I'll stay if it's alright." She assured you, chuckling at how fast you got over the moment so quickly.
"More than alright. I won't be long anyway." You headed for the doorway, putting on your boots and coat, your hand already on the doorknob until you heard Jenna call out your name.
"Y/n! You forgot something!" She called out, approaching you with headphones in hand.
You looked over at her, already smiling at the fact that she was more than an inch smaller when you put on your boots. "Oh, right," you said before cupping her cheeks and giving her a quick peck on the lips, completely ignoring the fact that she was already handing you your headphones.
You gave a little wave and a quick goodbye before going out and closing the door behind you.
"Your headphones—!" Jenna called out before you were already running across the street with your hands in your pockets. Honestly, she was more surprised with your ability to forget everything in your vicinity rather than how you walked so fast.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your voice from the camera echoed throughout your bedroom, the room where the both of you had confessed your love for each other. Jenna laid comfortably on your bed, the window opened as cold air flowed into the room, and your camera held up high by her hands. She was watching an old video you had filmed before, you and Jenna in her old home, filming a cooking video, she’d think you’d call it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Weeelcome to—hey Jenna, what should we name our cooking show?" You picked the camera up from the camera as it started recording. You went over to Jenna who was already prepping the ingredients needed, even she was in get-up, an apron and all. You contemplated if you could quickly go to the store and buy a chefs hat for her.
Jenna glanced up from her task, her eyes going to the camera before going to you. "Maybe just our names together? Jenna and Y/n."
You lowered the camera a slight bit, the perspective looking a little wonky, "But Jenna, that's so boring! We need more pizzaz." You looked at Jenna who was screaming towards the kitchen and the cupboards to check where her knife went.
"Then have you got something in mind?" She sharply asked, turning her heel around, "Have you, somehow, seen my knife? I swear it was just around the sink."
"Yeah, okay, great point, I have nothing as well." You placed down the camera on the counter, using a jar of whatever behind to keep it from falling down. "Here," you said with a cheeky smile as you presented the knife as if you were kneeling before a queen, and Jenna could only give you an unimpressed look.
You helped Jenna for a hot minute before turning to the camera once again, your full body being shown and a certain someone who was outside of view "Today, we're baking cookies—Jenna, c'mere." You held your hand to Jenna who wasn't in frame.
Jenna, still holding an unimpressed expression, walked over to where you were standing, joining you as you both appeared side by side in the frame. You appeared comically taller in the camera than Jenna, making you laugh just slightly before the shorter one punched you in the gut.
"Alright, anyway, let's bake some cookies!" You clasped your hands together, and Jenna could only look at you with eyes that conveyed love and adoration, wondering how you never noticed it.
Jenna picked up the camera and whispered, a little bit too loudly into the camera, "Side note, we have little to no experience at all at baking," she said, "We have absolutely no idea what we're doing!" You screamed from the background, already mixing in the ingredients, making her laugh before yelling that you made the wrong step.
"We're winging it, Jenna! God, who knew we could be such good bakers?" You exclaimed while mixing everything up, your hand was getting tired by how you whisked everything at such random paces, but Jenna didn't mind.
Everything was going smoothly, and perfectly Jenna could say so herself before her face scrunched up in confusion when you accidentally added salt instead of sugar.
Jenna's eyes widened, her warnings to stop you were a bit too late as you had already added half of the cup into the mixture. "Wait, oh fuck, y/n, y/n! That's a whole cup of salt!" She exclaimed, throwing her body against you as she tried to grab your arm that was pouring the sugar, but it was already too late.
You paused mid-mix, staring at Jenna, then at the bowl with a horrid expression. "Shoot!" You immediately, in instincts you'd defend until your dying days, dove your hand right into the mixture, as if your hand could magically pull out the tiniest ass bits of salt grains.
Jenna with all her might, restrained herself from bursting into laughter, "Okay, that's just so wrong, you can't just—!"
"Alright, alright!" You pulled your hands from the mixture, putting them up in the air in surrender as the gooey texture of incorporated eggs, flour, milk, and whatever was in there went down from your sleeves.
"Let's just make another batch." You turned to her, "let's just make another batch," you repeated.
"Y/n, we went through 3 batches already."
A moment of silence you both had as both of you looked at the batter you two worked hard on. Before a playful fight completely outraged from the both of you when you started to hand paint Jenna's face from the batter, creating silly drawings on her face as she ran away from you armed with a spatula to fend you off.
In the end, the both of you completed your task of baking cookies while using the same batch, and, well, they turned out... nice. On the camera, they looked really nice, and they kinda even smelled good from afar.
"Annnd, it's done!" You exclaimed, and Jenna tilted the pan slightly to give the camera a preview of the cookies.
After a bit of banter from the both of you, a minute passed by, and you two were holding cookies.
"They look... edible enough to eat anyway," Jenna said, inspecting them before looking towards you with your own cookie. "Cheers?"
"Cheers!" you echoed, holding up your cookie to Jenna's in a mock toast. The camera captured the moment as both of you took a bite simultaneously. And how your faces contorted into disgust.
"Y/n, just take it out, even I can't swallow this."
"Okay, good choice, oh god—!"
The last thing the camera recorded before it fell was you and Jenna quickly spitting out the bites into a nearby trash can and rushing over to the sink, pushing each other as you tried to turn the faucet on and rinse off the disgusting taste you both had in your mouth.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jenna laughed heartily as she scrolled through the numerous videos you both had filmed over the past months with the camera in her hand. She couldn't believe that your entire bond had been created over this camera—how you wanted to become a director and how she wanted to become an actress. It was surprising how well the both of you fit with each other, down to your interests.
She kept watching the videos you had filmed for the both of you. Jenna even went out of her way to roam around your room, looking for memory cards to see what other videos you both had done. That was until she opened a certain drawer in your table lamp, tucked away all the way to the end. She couldn't have spotted it if she hadn't opened it all the way.
Handwritten notes, letters, wilted flowers, keychains, an abundance of printed polaroid photos, and photos in general that you had kept, intending to give them to Jenna. These mementos had been tucked away in this drawer for months on end.
She didn't want to pry, but a part of her was drawn to the crumpled letter that stood out among the rest. When she opened it, it had pen scribbles and stains from what she assumed were tears.
The letter read,
To my Jenna To my dearest To Jenna
To the girl across my street, (9/27/2020)
You shouldn’t be the one I should be writing a love letter to at 1 in the morning, even if I know in my bones I’ll be writing letters for you until I rest for eternity. You shouldn’t be the one that keeps me up at night wondering if you’ll ever come back until now. You shouldn’t be the one that I subject my undying love to, the love that I kept reserved all these years, and yet you arrive and suddenly, all of it is yours. You shouldn’t be the one for me at all. But you are, and I hate that you’re everything I want in my life. I shouldn’t be mad at you Jenna. In fact, I love you. I love you so much, it hurts as I write this. I love you so much, I can’t look at myself anymore wondering what I would’ve done to keep you moving away from my life. Ever since I saw you, I felt like nothing in my life mattered more than being with you, even if I knew that was impossible. Well, until you suddenly picked me up after a horrible fall. I knew from everyone in my town that you were the most private person, you never opened up to them even if they always kept coming to your doorstep with leftovers from their family dinner. You told me that it was a bit overwhelming, seeing your fridge pile up everyday with everybody’s leftovers, you even got a lollipop from a kid. From our conversations, it was those random moments you told me from your life that I cherished the most, even if it was just something you remembered out of the blue. I fell mad in love with you, head over heels. No one would know falling in love with a great force other than me with you. I realized that when you invited me to your family's house for Christmas after you found out about the relationship I had with my parents, since then, I knew the love I had for you was soon going to drown me until my heart was filled with your name.
The way your family welcomed me with open arms as if I was someone, finally someone a part of something, I couldn’t bear to walk away anymore. The way you had introduced me to your siblings and cousins with a smile that I could only mistake for as a star, the way you had made me a part of your family, the way you made your family love me the way they loved you. I hate it, Jenna. I hate how your eyes brought revelry upon those who are grieving, how your touch brought forth the saints buried in the hearts of sinners, how your laugh would make every great poet struggle to illustrate the sound of your voice, how your soul brings every angel and saint to shame. I hate how you made me so happy, how you made the happiest side of me shine. I hate how I hate none of these things at all. I love everything about you, I can’t just pretend like I don’t. I love you, Jenna. I love you with all of my heart, each bone in my body yearns for yours, your very being became the muse of every thought, my soul is eternally yours forever, why did I let it be that way? And why until now, It’s still yours to keep? To rip apart? Yours to silently remind you that there’s someone out there who had their heart programmed to beat for you, and for only you. The day you left, I only realized how you were so important to me. It’s maddening how that was the first thought came to mind, how I fell so in love with your soul I completely forgot how you left me in pieces. How you didn’t text me, how you didn’t call me, how you didn’t even do the bare minimum as knocking on my door or maybe leaving a note to say you were leaving entirely. It’s been exactly a year since you left, and I haven’t stopped thinking about you ever since. A part of you still stayed with me, or maybe I just looked for you everywhere, hoping one day you’d appear beside me like nothing ever happened and grace me once again with that smile of yours that would last me a lifetime. Everything reminds me of you, Jenna. Every place, every home, every street, every film, every note that I hear from a song you’d used to sing to me with your stupid guitar you always wanted to master but never got the chance to. I’m in love with you, Jenna. I’m so in love with you to the point I can’t say it to your face. I’m yours forever more, and I hate that I am.
From, y/n. Happy Birthday, Jenna.
I wished I confessed to you more earlier.
"Jenna! Jenna!" A voice she loved, loved now more than anything, quickly pulled her out of her thoughts, banging against her own door. She pulled herself up from your bed, running towards the door in a hurry while holding the letter in her hands.
Jenna unlocked the door to see you. The love of her life, someone who wrote thousands of letters for her every day since she left, someone who had the stupidest idea to spend every inch of her savings to go buy her the headphones she always wished to own, someone who was now standing in the freezing cold.
"Jenna— Oh, Jenna, I forgot my headphones, and—and it was freezing like shit. God, I never knew there was a snowstorm coming in. I'm sorry I took so long I—"
You were cut off mid-sentence by her, who pulled you by your collar into a passionate kiss. The warmth of your house, the warmth of Jenna's body against yours, the warmth of her lips that brought every inch of your body to heaven was everything you needed to calm down. If only you had paused for a minute to take a glance at Jenna when you were rambling, you could only see her eyes in a lovesick gaze for you, you could see how much she loved you, you could see how she was everything you perceived her to be.
"Y/n," Jenna whispered, her voice a soft melody that resonated in the quiet room as you wrapped your arms around her waist.
You smiled, tucking a loose strand of hair behind Jenna's ear. "What… What was that for?"
"I love you," she whispered under her breath. "I love you," she added, one more time, as if you were going to disappear if she didn't.
"I love you too, Jenna. What's going on?"
"I just—I just love you so much, y/n. I always said I love you, but never added so much or expressed how much I loved you." Jenna was always straightforward when it came to talking. It was her nature, her style of sentence, how she spoke aloud, the quiet confidence she had whenever she spoke to someone; it was one of the characteristics she had that made you fall in love with her. But now, she couldn't express herself in the way she wanted to. She did, but it only fell short. The amount of love she had for you was something she could never express properly, even with a dictionary in her hands, it couldn't be possible.
It only took you a minute before figuring what had happened.
"You... you read the letter?"
"Yes—Yes, I read the letter, y/n. All of it."
"Well, what'd you think?" You almost thought that you had discarded the letters you wrote for her, but you kept the most important one of all.
She pulled you into a soul-crushing hug, "I love you. I'm sorry, I just love, love, love, you, y/n. I'm sorry if I'm not enough for you."
"Jenna," you whispered, gently pulling back to look into her eyes, "You don't know how much you're more than enough for me. You don't know how much your smile just means everything to me, good or bad, and your love is everything I've ever wanted. I wouldn't have it any other way."
Jenna's gaze softened, and a relieved smile played on her lips. "I'm just afraid that my love might fall short, you know? That I couldn't express it the way you do."
You cupped her face, your thumb gently grazing her skin, admiring her freckles. "Your love is perfect, Jenna, it's yours. I don't need grand gestures or expressions to make me feel happy. I just need you—your love, your presence, and everything that makes you who you are. Just, please, don't change that just for me—or for anyone."
The both of you kissed, the middle of the night while the orange light coming off from the kitchen flickered. A kiss, you knew, lasted only for a second. Or maybe even a few seconds, but this kiss lingered like a memory that lasted forever, a picture that was photographed and kept in a sealed case, stars that die but explode into a gorgeous nebula, a kiss that's worth for a thousand lifetimes.
Afterward, both of you watched the videos that you had filmed whenever and wherever. Jenna noted your habit of bringing the DSLR everywhere, capturing snippets of your private life where she wasn't in the frame. However, you quickly threw the camera against the headboard when she came across the holy grail of you trying out some skateboard tricks, where you horribly fell and got various scars on your leg.
In that moment, both of you probably knew you were going to stay with each other no matter what happened, or what challenges you faced. The way you both kissed then, in the doorway, was the most romantic kiss you had shared in your entire life. Probably not the most ideal of spots to decide to marry someone, but then again, who was the insane one who dated the girl across her street?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Invisible string.
That was the saying for those who believe there's a string of fate binding people who were destined to be together, or for anyone who was in love for that matter. It's a sweet thing, you can say, considering how you're one of the people who truly believed in it. You spent half of your life waiting for the right person to just step into your life and take over your heart by storm, someone who would think of you when they see a shooting star, someone who'd paint canvases of your face so the world would know who considered you greater than the Mona Lisa, someone who cherished you oh so dearly. Now, you can happily say with all your heart, you found her.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
a/n: aaahhh this series has come to a close, thank you for all the love and support! now i can finally do another series with JO's characters or maybe just oneshots. (i have a fuck ton of drafts.)

I love the idea of the P5 cast having to learn P3 style summoning techniques and getting unnerved by evokers. Some take to them quicker and easier than others.
Akechi is one of those ones who doesn't seem to have any problems with it, which irritates Akira to no end - because it reminds him of how little he seems to value his own life.
But then Akira uses one himself, and- it's... okay. Not pleasant, but no more or less than tearing a mask off his face had been.
Only, he looks around for Akechi and can't find him anywhere.
Akechi had been watching, had seen Akira put a gun to his head, gone through the motions of shooting himself in the head, and had even somewhat recoiled from it as if it were real - and for Akechi, his mind had filled in the blanks from memory, of the very real consequences; the blank eyes, the blood, the complete lack of response, the many, many people talking and needing him to talk about the Leader's "suicide"- and he had to walk away and hope that he could save face by looking like he was still unaffected, when he actually only made it out of sight before he feels like throwing up.
I just really like the dichotomy - the opposite reactions, the expectation that Akechi would be fine, but he's actually the worst affected when it's Akira doing it, because he isn't as good at suppressing the trauma that he denies is there as he says he is.

pairing: matt sturniolo x reader summary: where the sturniolo triplets are part of an organization known as the eclipse alliance, matt has constantly failed to pull through with pulling the trigger on a target. fed up, their boss gives matt one last chance, where he is sent to northside high school to get some answers out of a girl. warnings: mentions of weapons (guns), blood, and cursing!! author's note: HIII this is basically a matt pov chapter for establishment but at the next chapter it will be based around the reader!! <3 PLEASE let me know what you think!!! this is new for me LOL ENJOYYY WC: 1835 lowercase intentional !!
Tumblr media
tears blurred matt's vision as he stood frozen in the light of the warehouse, his trembling hand clutching the cold steel of the gun. the weight of the weapon felt heavier than ever, its presence a cruel reminder of what was standing before him.
"matt, pull the goddamn trigger," nick breathed as chris swallowed beside him. the two were crouched behind a wooden crate within the large, and seemingly entirely metal warehouse that they were sent to.
matt's lip caught between his teeth as he let out a shaky breath. "fuck," he breathed shakily as he squeezed his eyes shut. after a moment, he let his head fall and stared directly at the ground. the man who stood in front of the gun seemed to loosen up, causing matt to immediately snap and clutch the gun in his hands with a deep swallow.
bang.
matt exhaled deeply as he realized he was okay, his eyes snapping open as he looked around. the man in front of him was on the ground, bleeding out. matt didn’t shoot the gun. he let out a shaky breath as he turned behind him, where nick stood, revolver in hand.
“matt, come the fuck on, you almost got yourself killed.” nick spat as he made his way over to him and faced him.
matt couldn’t help the tears that built in his eyes. “I’m sorry,” he breathed, shakily looking down at his hands.
“what matters right now is we get this figured out and out of here.” chris replied, a worried expression on his face as he moved his hand to rest on matt’s shoulder.
matt let out a shaky breath. this sucked.
-
“the way you’re acting is a literal disgrace on the eclipse alliance name, matthew sturniolo.”
matt was sitting with his hand pressed against his cheek, his eyes lidded. he didn’t care for whatever their coordinator was saying to him. he just wanted to go back to his room and close his eyes.
it’s hard to focus when your literal job is to do what you’re told, even if it means ending a precious life.
matt shivered. he hated the thought that somebody with a long life before them, and even ahead of them, would have to face the unruly death by the hands of the eclipse alliance. or his brothers. or him.
“are you listening?” the harsh grip that matt now had against his shoulder caused him to shoot his head up and stare directly at the man’s face. he clenched his jaw.
“yeah, i’m listening,” matt breathed, and he bit his lip as he kept his eyes either down in his lap or directly in front of him. not on anything in particular.
“you have one more chance matthew. make the right decision, or you’re out.” he stated sternly.
matt let out a soft sigh as he stood up and stretched his arms. his face scrunched up. “for the last time, i told you to just call me matt. seriously, less of a hassle and more likely i’ll listen to you.” he lowered his voice for the last part of his sentence before collecting his things and leaving.
“nicolas will have your information to you within the next few days.” he stated firmly, before matt stopped in his tracks. he then shrugged it off and kept walking.
-
“matt, i’m serious. if you don’t pull this one off, you’re in deep shit,” nick stated, his hands tied together as matt stared at him from across the counter.
“i mean realistically, what are they going to do?” he questioned, making chris clench his jaw.
“you’re lucky they don’t kill you, dude.” he breathed, and buried his face in his hands. “thankfully they just slap you on the wrist and call it a day.”
matt scoffed and stood up. “i’m going to bed.” he muttered, and chris extended his arm to stop him by his chest.
“nick got your task in the mail… you’d better hear this one out.” chris breathed, before taking a seat. matt clenched his jaw and sat down as well.
nick sighed and set the folder on the counter, before opening it and taking out some papers.
“there’s a girl. y/n y/l/n. she has connections to black veil operations. your task is to attend sunnyslope high, about fifteen minutes away, and get some information from her.” nick read off, as he occasionally glanced at matt.
“information? that’s it?” matt scoffed. maybe this wouldn’t be so hard after all.
“you have to get close with the girl, matt. you can’t just go to her and ask her about the black veil operations, are you crazy?” chris scoffed, making matt roll his eyes.
“i know that…” he breathed, and nick and chris smiled softly at one another.
“this also means you have to get good grades, matt,” nick started, “you’re attending school as well.”
“fuck this shit.” matt breathed as he stood up. chris went to stop him, but nick waved him off. matt marched to his room.
“he’ll think about it and realize that this is the easiest task literally possible.” nick mumbled, and chris nodded carefully.
matt on the other hand, slammed his door shut and let out a deep sigh as he sat against his bed. were they kidding? growing up in the eclipse alliance, matt had dropped out of high school to assist his brothers and eventually begin pursuing his own rankings in the company. he was behind in school, it was impossible, he thought. but then he thought more.
-
“i’m leaving,” matt breathed after pushing chris’s door open. he had a backpack on his back with a few notebooks and a dream.
chris raised his head, clearly still half asleep. “mmm… tell nick,” he muttered before laying back down carefully.
“nick is gonna give me a lecture, and i’ll have enough of that throughout today. just tell him for me,” matt stated before stepping away and shutting the door.
-
“class, today we have a new student.”
matt bit his lip. he knew he was supposed to be tough guy detective, but he really hated talking to crowds and often felt himself grow shy in the process. “hi, i’m matt,” he mumbled quietly before turning to the teacher. “where do i si-“
“matt here has to catch up on our work for the last two months, so be a buddy and help him!” she instructed with a smile that was almost sickening to matt.
with the sound of a soft psst, matt turned his head to the girl making the sound.
she carefully pointed to the chair beside her, which happened to be the only one. “here,” she mouthed, and matt made his way over there.
carefully setting down his things, he turned to the girl and smiled softly. “thanks,” he breathed, before taking out his notebooks.
“no problem, she rambles anyways. needed to get you outta there as soon as i could,” she replied with a soft chuckle. she held out her hand and smiled softly.
this girl was absolutely stunning. matt felt his cheeks heat up when she reached out her hand. he carefully shook it and looked around as he remembered y/n was supposed to be in this class. he turned back to the girl and firmly shook her hand.
“name’s y/n,” she breathed, and matt swore he felt his heart sink. this girl was stunning, and incredibly kind from what he could tell so far.
he quickly threw a smile on and nodded, letting go of her hand. “nice to meet you y/n, your name’s pretty.” he whispered and quickly turned to his backpack, taking out a notebook and pencil.
-
“do you need help getting around?”
matt gasped as he turned to her and clutched his chest. he thought she had already left.
“woah, you okay?” she chuckled as she looked at him.
fuck. matt felt his face heat up. “y- yeah, sorry-“ he quickly stood up and zipped up his backpack, slinging it over his shoulder. “and i may need help. sorry,” he mumbled. he hated being a burden to anyone, as that was all he felt like ever since he started working for eclipse alliance.
“of course, don’t apologize. what’s your next class?” she questioned, and he looked down at a sheet of paper that was given to him in the front office.
“umm.. english four.” he replied, and looked up at y/n. he swallowed. how could a girl this gorgeous have connections to black veil operations?
“oh really? me too!” she smiled brightly and quickly began to walk towards the door, where matt followed her and gripped the strap to his backpack.
y/n showed him around the hallways between classes and even sat down with him in english and at lunch. she gave him her phone number incase he had any questions about any assignments or even about the school itself.
matt was very thankful for her, and thanked her profusely before he headed to the car and began to drive home.
-
“she’s gorgeous, and i have to lie to her,” matt breathed, and chris shook his head.
“no matt, you don’t have to lie. you just have to keep it to yourself!” he responded with a smile and a little too much confidence. matt felt his heart sink.
“this is no help,” he facepalmed before he got a text from y/n, and his face practically turned white.
from: y/n
hey matt, glad i met you today. i hope that today was an alright first day, and i could be of some help. see ya tmrw!
matt buried his face in his hand.
“and you said she’s cute?” chris commented, which matt only nodded in response to. “you’re in deep shit,” chris muttered with a soft chuckle.
matt winced. “i’ve heard that enough.”
“i have advice,” nick replied from the doorway, causing them both to jolt. “why don’t you just distance yourself?”
“nick, are you stupid? i need to gain her trust to get anything from her that will be of use to us, and to do that i can’t just distance myself,” he breathed before he shook his head. “this feels so wrong,” matt whined as he looked at his hands in his lap.
“you signed up for it, no?” nick muttered in response, causing matt to look up at him.
“i guess..” he whispered before he stood up and shoved past nick with a soft “i’m going to bed.”
-
matt laid in his bed and stared at the ceiling until about 2am. nick was right, he thought to himself. i can still talk to her and stuff without being super close to her, right?
he rubbed his face with his hands and sighed deeply.
his mind only flooded with thoughts of y/n, but he felt his heart clench every time he thought about the true purpose of why he was there.
he let out a deep sigh and closed his eyes, finally managing to get to sleep.

hello! i've written a bit for a possible carcar one-shot series. here's a sample, just to see if anybody would be interested? warnings: nsfw +18 for non-descriptive smut (but smut nonetheless.)
Oscar has no clue what drove him to kiss Carlos in Miami.
That kiss was him answering a call, maybe. The same way he leaned into anger after pitting and losing several places during the race. He was never going to stop burning inside if he hadn’t driven like mad, keeping his lap time purple and his vision red. By the time Lando extended an invitation to the party, he expected it to simmer down. Maybe a shot from what tasted like the devil’s ass would help. It didn’t. If only, it only fueled him more. He followed Carlos with his eyes, watched him celebrate his P5. He had a solid chance to aim higher before he was shot out of the sky. And Carlos danced and drank like he hadn’t been the one holding the gun.
Look at him getting dramatic. It’s the tequila. He lost count how many he’s had; it’s always like this when it’s Lando or Max in charge of handing out the alcohol. Whatever, it’ll be on their tab. Oscar was only responsible for his actions after. That meant admitting he was the first to approach Carlos on the dance floor. Taking responsibility meant leading Carlos to the edge of the club, past the long bar and by the floor to ceiling windows where the red strobe lights barely caught them. That meant admitting he kissed Carlos first.
For whatever reason, again, he has no fucking idea.
He remembers being angry and hungry, just because he woke up the next morning feeling exactly the same. Winning didn’t matter at the time. The incident was forgotten once they were out the door of the club. Sort of. What Oscar wanted was to get down on his knees and suck Carlos dry. He knew he’d be big; he could feel it when Carlos pulled him into his lap in the cab. Did they tip the cabbie? He hoped they did.
Oscar stole a few more moments, a half an hour’s worth of Carlos begging to be filled knowing Oscar would easily fold. Of Carlos locking Oscar with his toned thighs around Oscar’s waist as he urges him to move faster and harder. Of Carlos turning Oscar’s head so he could pin him down with a glazed stare, so his face when he comes would be tattooed at the back of Oscar’s eyes. Of Carlos whimpering at the loss and Oscar kissing it away.
If it hadn’t been for Carlos leaving his watch on the nightstand, Oscar would dismiss that night as a fantasy driven by madness. Oscar kept the watch, a large silver thing that weighed heavy in his pocket, and promised himself he would return it to Carlos soon. That way he could put the whole thing behind him.

I was contacted by someone claiming to be AtlusxP5
A few weeks ago, I got a submission from someone claiming to be AtlusxP5. I brushed it off, thinking it was some prank. On the evening of October 11th, 2024 I received an ask from the same blog. This time I did respond, privately replying that I want proof of their identity.
This is what they gave me:
Tumblr media
This is a GIF of the video "goodbye" from another angle.
Me and the person promptly started chatting. I'll be the first to admit, I was rather blunt and direct, still suspect of this person. I asked for more proof, asking for certain unwatermarked images. They provided me with these within minutes, as well as related images.
Tumblr media
I have uploaded these images on Mega for your viewing.
I have gotten permission to post these by the person as long as I include a message from them regarding the edited images. I will explain this by the end of this post.
We chatted for almost two hours that evening until I had to go to bed. As I'm writing this, it's October 12th. Earlier today, we had another, more casual, chat. We are about to talk more later.
So, is this person AtlusxP5?
Perhaps.
I asked them questions, and they always responded clearly, never taking more than a minute to formulate their reply. I asked them things that no one but me would care about, and they always had a response.
They have shown me more than just the images I have provided in the Mega link—a lot more. I will not post this content unless given explicit permission to.
Having spoken with them, they don't come off as a person having watched last year's documentary and trying to claim the glory. They have knowledge only someone who's been following this project for 11+ years could possess, not to mention the skill to produce believable content.
I'm sorry if this post is a mess to read. Perhaps I am jumping the gun by publishing this, but I would like to present this for everyone to see.
Before ending this post, I will relay some information regarding early P5:IP pictures.
As a reminder, early "artwork" by AtlusxP5 were in reality edited pictures of existing characters, such as the image below.
Tumblr media
It was requested by the person that I include this.
(...) the reasoning as to why I went out of my way to use pre-existing media sources and edited them down just enough so it appeared as an illusion of something else. I wanted to make it just identifiable enough where people could still upon closer inspection find the original source, fitting my theme of illusion and upon closer inspection finding out the truth rather than seeing things face value
Thank you for reading.

p5 mementos thoughts
i know it's meant to be an adaptation of jung's collective unconscious shenanigans but i think it'd be SO Cool to imagine mementos as some sort of living creature...
it's an amalgamation meshed with tokyo's urban metropolis environment so you'd notice the familiar stuff first, like train tracks and stations, but staying long enough in mementos reveals that it's still very much alive. you're exploring its innards! the walls are fleshy and veiny and pulsate verrryyy slowly to the rhythm of breathing or heartbeats, the wandering shadows can be thought of as bacteria or protein, and the reaper's obviously the immune system kicking in with its very determined white blood cell gunning to eliminate you the virus!!
and i like to think that metaverse costumes not only serve Stamina and Style (the two essentials) but also sorta trick mementos into thinking you "belong" in its body—at the very least, you're not food anymore! like, if the world's luckiest unluckiest human managed to noclip into mementos and somehow avoided evisceration via shadows, imagine if the floors and walls have been secreting a subtle acid and by the time this human notices their sneakers corroding away and how moist and raw their palms have gotten, they finally realize that they've been caught in the process of digestion! but of course metaverse users are safe and sound from turning into a goopy gooey mess :]
i especially enjoy likening mementos to the tunnel in Coraline that connects the real world with the other world + the Mystery Flesh Pit National Park in Texas :D both are creatures so massive that they breach eldritch proportions, and you the human are sooo itty bitty you've basically only been wandering in a single blood vessel out of an entire circulation system! or something like that!!

Phantom Scapegoat: Why P5X Deserves A Chance
Whilst many often shake their head at the concept of a 'gacha' game, it wasn't a surprise to see the Persona series take a shot at such a game. Persona 5: The Phantom X, or just P5X, was released fully in April within multiple regions of Asia and is planned for both a Japanese & Global releases within the future. Aiming to tell a brand new story within the Persona 5 universe, P5X takes place in a parallel timeline where new protagonist, Wonder, leads in the main role with a new group of Phantom Thieves.
As of writing, the game is about to release its 2.3.3 update, which will include an expansion of the side story 'Cross Fate', which covers the original Persona 5 palaces with both the new and old cast, yet it's clear that this story will aim to tie into the main story in one way or another through the developing concept of parallel worlds and timelines. The one thing we have to be aware of is that whilst the main developers are Black Wing Studios, a subsidiary of Perfect World Games, it was recently confirmed in an interview that ATLUS themselves are still helping to construct the narrative and the world of P5X.
My only question is... where was this writing all over the original Persona 5?
It's quite insane that whilst we are only nearing the end of the third palace, P5X takes the world we know of P5 and makes it insanely intriguing. We went from the third arc being centred around a generic 'yakuza' goon to focusing on a struggle for power between teachers that aims to uncover a bigger conspiracy deep within the school that Wonder and some of the other characters attend. Even the second arc, whilst initially presenting itself as a parallel of the Madarame Arc, I think it does it better.
Unfortunately, many on the internet aren't exactly too fond of such a game. It's understandable. A lot of mainstream gacha games such as Genshin Impact are known for their predatory practices in terms of pull-rates, the fear of missing out, etc. Yet, P5X doesn't fall into this pattern, nor does it show itself as a game not willing to listen to its community. As someone who has barely spent a dime, getting all the featured characters and still having currency to spare is a very good thing. The game cares about you and at times will throw summoning tickets and various other items at you either for nothing or for a simple task. They've even recently brought back Tycoon from Persona 5 Royal and taken it online, which has been brilliant.
Harkening back to the earlier point, I believe that a community like the Persona one unfortunately exposed an ugly side of itself with the rising popularity of P5X. The amount of times I see that it's a 'china game' or the reason they won't touch it is because it's 'chinese' feels rather horrible. I think it's perfectly fine to dislike gacha mechanics, but at no point does Joker emerge from the phone, point a gun to your head and force you to enter your credit card details. Many content creators such as JohneAwesome were skeptical of the game, but after playing it? He's now a huge fan! Who would've thought that playing a game like this would change your opinion? The game isn't perfect and many, like myself, have a fair few issues with the game, especially with how it can be better. Yet, I think it's better to try the game for yourself than make it out to be a devil walking.
With collabs with games like P3 and P4 basically confirmed, along with their potential involvement in the main story, P5X has an opportunity to be one of the grandest stories in the entire series and I truly hope it rises to the challenge.
