Yessss! Carlos is like it’s amazing that you’re not using me, but could you maybe act like you care? I picture this is where Oscar gets into cycling because he knows Carlos loves it and they can spend time together outside of the home but away from the public eye (he sucks at golf so that’s not an option) and he also starts attending races when he can but avoids the cameras and attention which is fine with Carlos because he just wants him there (stomach pinch moment anyone? lol).

Thanks for indulging me with this! I could never write an entire fic but I love talking about the creative process and building a plot!

first of all, YES? OUCH??? there's definitely a moment where oscar knows he's trying and he thinks that's enough, because all of his past relationships used to be so lowkey. this is new to him, too. long distance, pretty high risk if he's being honest, and worst of all (the best thing probably) is that he has never fell so deeply. but carlos reaches a certain breaking point himself, maybe after the 5th date oscar bailed on because it's too public. "i can't be your date to that movie premiere carlos"

(who broke up with who, i raise u carlos with the "maybe act like u care" line and oscar just walking out on him)

I totally pictured Carlos doing it to him pre-announcement and the internet losing its mind! Like who is that guy and what the hell was that?

I love the idea of a break up era (I’m a sucker for some angst with a happy ending). It makes complete sense how you explained it. The line “he wanted a bride I was making my own name” from Midnight Rain kinda comes to mind. Carlos’ past relationships were people who wanted to be a wag and were always there to be by his side and loved the attention where Oscar is completely different and is focused on his career and wants his privacy. However Carlos comes around and sees that it’s actually so healthy for Oscar to have his own life and stuff going on.

This kinda seems like the perfect set up for Carlos showing up in on Oscar’s doorstep and having that kiss in the rain 🤷‍♀️

imagine the online feud of "he's his sister's boyfriend" vs "no it's carlos' boyfriend"

YES?? do you think carlos is just waiting for That moment with oscar? that he's become so paranoid that people are going to just end up using him. but yes oscar's different and oscar wants space, oscar doesn't want cameras on him all the time. and when carlos asks him if he wants to be on don't blink (his exes always want to be featured somewhere) oscar says "not if i have to?" and gets all nervous about it. and carlos is confused and endeared and made sure to say oscar doesn't have to if he doesn't want to. but it's gotten to the point where oscar doesn't want to go anywhere, carlos gets a teensy bit upset at times - and this is something they can both work on.

Obviously I don’t know anything about full throttle carcar but from I’ve read, can I recommend Gold Rush by Taylor Swift and Risk by Gracie Abrams for the playlist?

Also there’s a specific clip I saw a while back during the Netflix Cup where Carlos is walking through the crowd and Rebecca is standing off to the side and as he walks by he kinda pinches her stomach and it’s such a simple way of acknowledging her as he walks past that was so adorable and now I can only picture wag!oscar in that position lol

right now, i have mostly fluffy and smutty ideas for these two. they’ll INSISTS it’s casual until they both can’t ignore the feelings. that’s why it takes them a year to become official and start feeling comfortable telling other people about each other.

there’s possible angst, too. spoilers idk but i can see a breakup era in their future? just bc of the pressures of both of their jobs. osc can’t be there every race, carlos is away for most of the year. the added unwarranted attention on oscar who isn’t used to it and just wants to hide away from it. i kind of want to explore that. (but they’ll get back together ofc)
