The thing abt 4kids dubs is that i do not watch it to enjoy them, straightforwardly. I watch it as a trial. It’s like how a monk or whatever undergoes a difficult task to further their faith or something or the other. And sometimes there’s funny enough moments to justify this

{BrightKnightUpcoming} <---------------------
-------------------don't miss part 13 by tag :O
Final Chapter. Kurt Busiek and John Paul Leon. Or how to save the hero in four issues.
Tumblr media
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. It may have been the best joke of the era. Maybe it was just a funny plot detail. But in Batman: Creature of the Night, Bruce literally has to take pills to get rid of Batman.
Tumblr media
No spoilers. We're talking about a world in which The Dark Knight exists and doesn't exist at the same time. There are full comic books history here. There's Batman as a phenomenon of popular culture. The main character, Bruce Wainright, experiences similar events and one day, dreaming of a protector and justice, actually finds Batman.
We can talk about Busiek's comic at length, parsing it for metaphors, the relationship to the image in the popular mind, and the author's tortured fact and fiction details.
However, I want to focus on approaching Batman as a symbol of Light, so I ask you to explore the rest of the material on your own. It's really worth it.
In my opinion, people often make the mistake of distinguishing between the infantile playboy that Bruce is only in public in modern comics and the always serious being in disguise. In fact, since Crisis, Wayne has always had a little enemy inside in the form of a little scared boy that seeks vengeance. Kurt delves more deeply into the process of developing that style of thinking. Parses how the inner wall, which in the future will become the basis of the character and give start to many “I work alone” memes, is formed in the mind of a not-so-weird or frightening, but still peculiar teenager. Wayne is really taking the thought of parents to the back burner here. He successfully finishes university, runs a big business and even has a psychologist.
Tumblr media
But trauma keeps life from going happily ever after. He fixates on the idea of pain and cruelty. On wanting the world to conditionally compensate him for his parents' death by defeating all the bad guys.
My point is that this is not a comic book with a good ending or about an easy fate. However, it does have its Robins, Gordons, etc that Bruce saves. The world doesn't change - Bruce is angry. Bruce is making a difference - that's cool, but it's not enough. It's a very simple and clear pattern.
Tumblr media
The grand finale of the comic is the release of all the anger at the world that sat inside the man. When that goes away, and all that is left is peace, his life changes drastically. As does the symbol himself. Because we definitively lose the image of the hero in the traditional way. What is a superhero in DC?
Tumblr media
These are the people with a lot of weight on their shoulders. The ones who get into the strangest situations all the time. Who wear cool, recognizable items on their chests.
Tumblr media
I'm not talking about high morale, ability, or meta factor. We have a lot of characters that belong in the term superheroics from DC's perspective. But in a massive sense, it's about bringing fighting to the forefront.
Batman has always fought. In the Creature of the Night, he doesn't do that anymore.
In other words, what if Batman is literally just a regular person? What if his struggle now is proof that the model works, in which Batman is Harmony with Society, himself?
Tumblr media
Because then he's still working great as Bruce Wayne, who does nothing but then becomes everything in the cape. Now the mask finally loses its meaning. The code is important, but it is no longer an obsession.
Chip destroyed the meaning of the fight. Batman hurt those who weren't guilty. We're not taking away the path he traveled earlier. But transform it into a different ideology.
Because in this model, Bruce, on the one hand, is actually capable of hurting loved ones quite badly. On the other hand, he won't do it because he believes that every action he takes affects hundreds of souls around him. Remember The White Knight.
Tumblr media
It's a modern classic classic classic. Sean Murphy gives us the arguments with Dick, the complicated relationship with Babs. There are two portrayals of the Joker (we'll talk about him one day too), a reworked in detail but also exploring the legacy and fortitude of the fight with Azrael.
Tumblr media
He's leaving because he stopped being a symbol that people could believe in. That they could always trust. I'm talking about freakin' love for 14 texts! Chip didn't scare Jason. He didn't break Dick's bone. He didn't betray Tim. He didn't turn his back on Renee. He didn't beat up Selina. I mean, he did. But at the level of the idea, it's about the reader.
Because you're changing the most important detail. You're removing awareness. Why is that...because he did the thing and here...it works in other comics? Because he's really sick at Kurt's. But he agrees to find a solution. He loses really everything in White Knight. No Alfred, no home, no sidekicks. And Wayne, who embraces mistakes. By the way, he does it at the end of Nolan's movies. Just by way of retirement. Or he's just happy, like Telltale is. There's variability there, but you got it. The main universes...
Tumblr media
You really want to revisit Scott Snyder, the whole Cassandra story, Tom King, the BatCat phenomenon, the friendly hangouts with Clark and Diana? See, Batman's not evil at all. Not dark. Not “dead inside a long time.” Not bloody blows. Not screaming at tired villains. It's as much a mask as Bruce's social life in the headlines. It's there as periods. Like Jason's long stress...which turned into an obsession, but zayem he coped and gave up his revenge and self-hatred. Or Kate's lostness. Babs's chair.
The darkness reflects the light. Where do the rays go? To all the people around us. We're forcing Bruce to let the light in. To feel it.
Please stay for the last chapter. It will be useful if you liked my work.

He’s a work in progress still but I wanted to share the first pass of his completed look so badly X)
I’ve had Sir Meteor in progress since August 2023, if you want to see the progress it will be under the read more!
Sir Meteor’s story starts with my fist kirby OC I made, Terra Knight! I won’t talk about him too much except that I knew from early on he had a older brother. TK originally has a skull mask in his very early concepts, but then I learned Axe Knight existed, and they looked too similar. I shelved the concept for a while until I had more ideas.
In August 2023, I started to sketch out allosaurus skulls because I had wanted to revisit the concept and thought maybe I would redesign Terra Knight to have a dinosaur skull mask. It did not happen, but that planted the seed.
Tumblr media
In November, I had been struck with inspiration and started doodling. The name is very important to the lore of my OCs and is very deliberate, so once I figured out the name for Sir Meteor, a lot of elements fell into place instantly!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the first time I gave Meteor colors, and I also put him next to his siblings so they would look cohesive. Me mentioning how he doesn’t even have shoes yet is foreshadowing.
In the following day, I sketched him more to get a feeling for his design!!
Tumblr media
The most notable thing about this is probably 1.) here I cemented the twin-tail cape because it looks like the tail of a comet and 2.) since it looked like a comet, I wanted the pauldron to include a star somehow
Also fun fact!!! The shape of his horns is directly inspired by Triceratops horns!!
Which led to the designing of his pauldrons later in November!
Tumblr media
I ended up combining elements of the first and third design because together they would look like shooting stars!
Tumblr media
This is also when I decided on giving him the four pointed star blushing! Around this time I posted a sketch of Meta Knight with star blushes and I wanted to include more fun blush shapes. Also the four pointed star is a subtle Galacta Knight reference! Sir Meteor is genuinely old, prehistoric even, and he comes from that time period, and I wanted the star shapes to reflect that
After this I was stuck. I was extremely stuck and could not figure out how to design his shoes. Since everything else was so themed, it had to mean the shoes had to match as well. I wanted to keep the prehistoric/star themes, going strong. I tried a few times to give him plain armor but it did not look correct at all!
I took a few months to think about it. Another important thing is that whatever shoe I drew had to look good and cohesive with AND without his skull mask. It was hard to balance but yesterday (21 February) I began to cook.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the sketch page, you can see how the thought process evolved from the top of the page downwards. You can see the “haha drawing smiles with sharp teeth- oh wait a minute hold on” happen in real time.
On the page on the right, is when I finally designed his shoes!!! THE EVIL IS DEFEATED!!!!
This character is so heavily themed and I thought about it so much. So. Much. If anyone actually read this breakdown you deserve a gold star thank you for listening to my insane, several month long thought process. I’m so proud of him for a reason. Now I need to finalize the colors and stuff but for now enjoy!
EDIT: while making Meteor’s reference, i also went through a LOT of altered color pallets.

Let's talk about Mecha Knight
Well, well, well, would you look at the time. It's "me writing too much about Kirby" 'o clock ! And it seems like Mecha Knight will be the topic.
So, the reason I am writting this is that I see more and more people say that Mecha Knight is an overused subject and it doesn't deserve to have so much angsty fics, art, etc. I strongly disagree and I will explain why. I know people won't change their mind with a single, random rant, but I just want to share my opinion on the matter. With that in mind, here I go, describing how the whole Mecha Knight thing is indeed messed up.
First I want to objectively describe the situation. So the Haltman Company invades popstar, starts mechanising everything and everyone. Meta Knight has the Halberd blown up, and we don't hear about him untill world 4. We discover that he had tried to fight the corporation by himself, then failed and was captured. Then he was turned into a cyborg forced by mind control to work for the guys who are actively destroying what he was trying to save against his own will, and forced to try killing one of his friends/rival twice, before being freed and helping the heroes.
I think we can all agree that this a bad thing to happen to anyone. Kidnapping, enslaving and modifying someone without consent is pretty horrible, and there is no denying that. Everyone who has basic ethics and empathy would know that. So logically, people sympathise with Meta Knight, and they can show it by imagining what it must have felt like for him trough art.
So, why the heck would some people try arguing why it actually was'nt that bad and artists should stop "milking angst" out of this ?!
Here's their argument ; Some have said that Meta could'nt have been badly hurt, as he is seen seemingly fine after fighting Haltman. As if being fine physically means you are fine mentally. If you were mechanised, do you think you would'nt feel at least a little bad ? Is it wrong to think the victim of this situation may keep some scarring memories ? Or is it that you think Meta Knight having trauma is contradictory to his character and he should'nt be allowed to ?
Well, in fact, if you look back at his personality, having trauma out of being Mecha Knight make perfect sense as it goes against his most defining trait ; stenght.
Normally he is very powerfull, physically, mentally and politically. His character practically revolves around power ( he is often shown trying to be more powerfull ). So imagine what it must be like, having all that strenght completly taken away from you and used by his ennemies against his allies. How it must feel to go from leader to slave. Not being able to move an inch by yourself while your body moves on its own. And it's only made worse by how in every other instance of him being posessed, he was shown to have tryied resisting evil influence. Even in RoMK he was revolting against lazinness. Here, the only clue we have about him trying to resist was the title of his battle theme, commonly known as "inner struggle". But the fact you can't even see that in game prooves how powerless he was, how vain his resistance was.
Even if having been turned into a robot did'nt disturb him, not being able to do anything against it definitly could have made him question himself. It could have shattered his ego and confidance in his abilities. It make perfect sense.
And, well, being turned into a cyborg must have been terrifying anyways. We don't know how mechanisation actually worked, but according to the number of screws in the mechanised people's design, how we only see him after a while and Kumazaki's habit of impliying terrifying stuff going on behind the scenes, it's understandable to assume it was painfull. And it must also suck to be treated as an actual object.
So, yeah, the situation was indeed pretty fucking bad, and seeing people trying to say it’s not unnerves me. I think they either are Meta Knight fans who feel like him being allowed to feel the slightest of insecurities would make him weak, MetaSusie fans who are trying to defend her actions by minimilizing them or just fan that have enough to see it over so many other topics. Like, bro, feel free to make your own art instead of complaining. Or potentially write countless paragraphs to share your opinions like I do ( just kidding, it’s actually pretty anoying ).
Basically, it's normal to see angsty art and fics of an event that was objectively pretty horrible and complaining about it is weird.
Either way, if you’ve read trough all this, congratulation. Must have been long. Thank you for your time and patience, and I hope you have a wonderfull day.

(about the wildly inconsistent line) I understand you are annoyed with the complaints, hopefully you don't mind my two cents on this line.
Personally my issue with this line is well, I feel like the fanbase kinda ruined things like people complained about 2010's and calling it "meta era" (a name that I find really nonsensical) and yet glaze on Ian Flynn's writings when he does meta stuff like "sonic cycle" and "project remaster" just to name a few.
So when this line comes, I guess a part of me feels a bit throw out of immersion lmao.
Of course Flynn being the writer of frontiers certainly didn't help and thus feels like a doomer in my head.
Anyway these are my thoughts, feel free to disagree with me and sorry if I accidentally said something that might annoy you
have a nice day/evening.
I don't see how the fan base being a bunch of morons is somehow a problem with the game.
Tails ISN'T inconsistent. So the complaint about the line being some "meta acknowledgement" of Tails' bad writing doesn't make any sense. Because Tails isn't and hasn't been badly written in any Sonic game. The fact that MORONS think he was, and then those MORONS decided to act like some out of context line of dialog was some kind of acknowledgement of support to them isn't a problem with the game.
Those same MORONS also think that the game was some kind of redemption narrative for Eggmans character, which EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF OFFICIAL SONIC MEDIA PRODUCER SINCE has IRREFUTABLY demonstrated to be an incorrect interpretation. And those same MORONS also think the game "fixed" Sonic and got him "back on track" when Sonic wasn't written any differently in Frontiers than he was written in Forces or Lost World or Colors or Black Knight before that. So I don't see how "yeah well a bunch of MORONS were being MORONIC about the series" is somehow a valid criticism of the line itself or the game in general.
If I let what a bunch of MORONS think about Sonic influence my own opinion about Sonic, then I wouldn't enjoy literally anything about Sonic whatsoever. Because MORONS are MORONIC about literally everything regarding the franchise. Why do you give a shit what MORONS think? Why are you letting the voice of MORONS ring in your head while playing Sonic Frontiers? (You have actually PLAYED THE GAME, right?)
I have been very public that I don't believe Ian Flynn had much if anything to do with the way Frontiers was written. Based on everything he and Sonic Team staff members have said about it, and based on the comparison of quality between the games writing and the writing of the comics which Flynn has near infinite creative control over in comparison, it pretty much sounds like Ian Flynn wrote what Sonic Team told him to write. Everything that is in the game every line of dialog of the main story cutscenes is in there because Sonic Team wanted it in the game. I find the way both HATERS and PRAISERS of Sonic Frontiers act like this is Ian Flynn's game to be incredibly disrespectful towards Sonic Team and it frustrates me to no end.
You really think that Sonic Team had a line written and put into the game, and then rigged animated and voice directed the scene where that line was said, that was included to be some kind of dig against Tails's handling as a character BY Sonic Team in previous games? In a scene that was THREE CUTSCENES REMOVED from THIS scene, wherein they directly acknowledge and discuss the way Tails' character was written in Sonic Forces?
Tumblr media
If you want to suggest that the "wildly inconsistent" line was some kind of wink and a nod to the audience about Tails's previous writing, then are you also then going to agree that THIS line of dialog is a direct CONFRONTATION of people's complaints about the "Sonic Help Me" scene from Forces? Am I allowed to say that this line of dialog is Tails looking at the camera and saying "I WAS EMOTIONALLY TRAUMATIZED BY SONIC BEING SUPPOSEDLY KILLED BY INFINITE RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES AND THAT'S WHY I COWERED FROM CHAOS 0 YOU ILLITERATE FUCKS"? If YOU'RE allowed to act like the "wildly inconsistent" line is some kind of statement to the audience about the franchises writing quality, then that means you will happily and readily accept my interpretation of THIS line and how it's telling everyone who criticized Tails in Sonic Forces to shut the fuck up and fuck off, right?
Frankly I don't care what people's reasoning is for why they think Tails saying "then I'm wildly inconsistent" is bad. They're wrong. Source: I played the fucking game and you didn't. End of discussion.

A guide on writing YamiChar (or, how I do it, at least)
I've tried to write this meta over and over and over, trying to put all my thoughts in order, (below is my best attempt at it) but the more I try to explain how I do them, the more I realise that writing YamiChar well really just comes down to making sure that they're their own separate characters, with their own motivations and conflicts and lives outside each other. Yami needs to give a damn and Charlotte needs to not be obsessed with him. That's it.
Anyway. The meta.
First things first, the most important part of writing them (and why it so often falls short in canon) is that they both have to care about each other. Exactly how this looks can vary depending on the plot of your fic, but you cannot have Yami not caring about Charlotte in some way. The biggest reason this ship calls short in canon is because Yami doesn't really seem to give a damn about her, when he is all Charlotte's internal monologue can really focus on. She gets possessed and he doesn't seem to give a damn. After the initial fight, he doesn't even think about her, even while he's running around with Charla. Comparatively, when Yami gets kidnapped, she can't think about anything else.
Personally, I tone down Charlotte's crush. Or at least how she expresses it outwardly. Her running away from Yami screaming isn't funny, it isn't cute and it isn't helping her in any way. It's just embarrassing for her and makes her look incompetent. This woman is a Magic Knight Captain. She has a reputation to think about, people her being incompetent will reflect badly on. She is the face of the Blue Rose Knights, if people lose respect for her, then they're likely to start losing respect for her squad and that just makes their job harder than it needs to be. Especially considering the fact that, the world of Black Clover, just like our own, seems to elevate men's accomplishments above women's. So, yes. Charlotte's panicked screaming needs to go.
This isn't to say that she can't get embarrassed or flustered or that she can't panic, Charlotte is still a dramatic person at the end of the day, but those sorts of emotions are far more likely to be expressed in private, or only around people she can trust. She is not going to run screaming into a room full of strangers making a fool of herself.
On Yami's side of things, I tend to go with him not quite realising exactly what he's feeling. he has no real reason to believe what he's reading in her ki, or what people are telling him she feels. He's a foreigner. People like Nozel have made it quite clear that he isn't really welcome. Why would he think that the woman who could have literally anyone she wanted would want him?
Yami acts like a big, confident guy, but there's a lot of childhood trauma buried under all the bravado. He jokes about being a soft sensitive princess, but there's truth to it. His love interest has to be willing to look under the big macho man facade and not many people do.
So. We've got two people with a whole host of childhood trauma hiding their real selves from the world. How do we turn that into a relationship? You give them something to connect over. For these two, they're in a very unique position to understand each other in a way nobody else really can. They've both been shunned for things they can't control. They've both had people terrified of their magic. They've both had countless doors slammed in their faces. They've both dealt with people judging them on appearance alone. They've both been placed on a pedestal with a kingdom that criticises their every move. There's a lot of common ground for them to bond over.
Importantly, they aren't fixing each other. Sure, they learn from each other, but Yami doesn't suddenly become a perfect gentleman, Charlotte doesn't lose her sharp tongue or general attitude towards men. They do not suddenly become a lovey-dovey mess. They are both people who would rather ignore their feelings and leave it to deal with another time, preferably never. "That's Future Yami's problem" ring any bells? Which, I suppose, is better than Charlotte just diving straight into denial. Anyway. My point is, their romance looks like friendly teasing and unspoken trust, "I've got your back" and meaning it, the calm confidence that comes with knowing you're stronger together and capable of utterly wrecking anyone that tries to fight you.
Also, if anyone is going to retire to raise the kids, it's Yami.
TL;DR write them the same way you would if they were best friends but with more flirting.

Meta Knight and King Dedede have caught a cold because of the winter season! It is now up to their mirror counterparts to replace them in their roles of Santa. How badly do you think they'll ruin their reputations?
good question!
burade is, simply put, not a jolly guy. he is the opposite of a sandy claws. in his natural state (i.e. not being possessed) he is thoroughly stoic and unsettling and as serious as a heart attack. but even if he isn’t the best man for the job, he is going to be nothing if not goddamned committed to delivering these presents.
dameta is, uh, a lot less dedicated, to say so the very least. he’s not taking any of this shit seriously. he’s shoveling cookies by the plateful into burade’s stomach mouth because he hates sugar. he’s stealing Waddle High fashion dolls out of the sack and reconfiguring their limbs into fucked up positions. he is giving children bladed weapo- wait, meta knight already does that. hmm.

Revolutionary girl Utena Characters with DND Classes
Beware: personal opinions and slight RGU spoilers below
Tumblr media
Utena is Oath of Devotion/Heroism Paladin.
The easiest class for me to decide. How Utena and her relationship with others clashing with her ideals, and how she defined being a "prince" vs. what a "prince" really was.
In the end, she truly embodies being a Paladin outside the constructs of patriarchy and the manipulation of others.
Tumblr media
Anthy is either Trickery Domain Cleric, Circle of the Shepard Druid, Alchemist Artificer, Swarm Keeper Ranger, or a blend of all four.
The fact Anthy could fit so many builds is a testament of her multi-layered character. Frankly, I can see her multiclassing all four and somehow getting beyond level 20.
Tumblr media
Dios is Path of Devotion/Heroism-> Oathbreaker Paladin, and Akio is Hexblade Patron.
Self-explanatory here and drawing parallels between Dios and Utena. Paladins and Warlocks are often seen as foils and opposites, so Dios the Paladin becoming Akio the Warlock Patron makes for delicious irony and symbolism.
Everyone who has the Rose Seal is part Warlock Hexblade.
Student Council:
Tumblr media
Touga is Mastermind Rogue.
Sneaky and manipulative, with high charisma and underhanded sneak attacks, Touga definitely embodies the rogue archtype.
Tumblr media
Saiyonji is Samurai Fighter.
This is mainly from him using Kendo, but Saiyonji would eventually prove himself more honorable than the asshole he started the series out as.
Tumblr media
Juri is Battle Master Fighter.
The strongest of the Duelists with a background of fencing, it was a no brainer for Juri. Especially considering Utena never truly defeated her in-series.
Tumblr media
Miki is College of Glamor Bard.
While Miki does fit Wizard as well, bards having half-proficiency in everything both shows his studious nature and prodigal mindset.
But the main reason I chose Bard of Glamor is Miki's obsession with re-finding his inspiration AKA his "shinning thing" his tendency towards projection+ Nostalgia Filter+ Madonna Whore Complexing girls.
Tumblr media
Nanami is Swashbuckler Rogue+ Path of the Berserker Barbarian.
Barbarian and Rogue have... interesting synergy, while also contradicting one another. Same as Nanami.
Her fighting style and devious nature made me consider Swashbuckler for her first, as well as being something she shared with Touga.
Add in her over-the-top nature and I quickly realized she gives Barbarian vibes as well. Both synergize well in some ways, while clashing in others.
Much like Nanami herself!
Tumblr media
Ruka is Echo Knight Fighter.
Originally, he was going to be a Battle Master Fighter like Juri. Then I got an idea: Ruka using his echo to go in his place to Ohtori due to his illness.
Black Rose Duelists:
Everyone who was given a Black Rose becomes part Order of the Profane Soul Blood Hunterincluding Mikage.
Tumblr media
Originally, Mikage was going to be a Hexblade Warlock Patron like Akio. But going over his motivations being to kill Anthy and replace her, along with making duelists in his past, I realized he also fit the Blood Hunter Archtype.
Tumblr media
Wakaba is Way of Open Hand Monk.
This is mainly from her and Utena's fight (which she all but ripped her friend apart with her bare hands), but Wakaba is a very physical person. Glomping, hugging, piggy-back riding, and she gets in a Get A Hold Of Yourself, Man! Slap on Utena even before their fight.
Tumblr media
Kanae is Champion Fighter.
This might seem a strange choice, but hear me out.
I recently read upon a fic (https://archiveofourown.org/works/34018852) and attached meta (http://web.archive.org/web/20200218193829/https://palaceperspective.tumblr.com/post/177107626881/part-three-deer-in-the-works)
that gave the idea and implication of Kanae being the previous Champion Duelist who reached Revolution. She put down her sword and chose to be Akio's Princess... which is why she has her own sword when dueling Utena, and why her strained relationship with Anthy grated on her so badly.
Tumblr media
Kozue is College of Satire/Tragedy Bard.
We know Kozue is not as good at piano as Miki, but most of her aspects fit the bard archtype to a t, including the sleeping around.
Both possible colleges are on how she was affected by her brother loving her shadow rather than herself and projecting the person he thought she used to be on others. Her whole situation can be read as satire and/or tragedy.
Tumblr media
Shiori is Abberant Mind Sorcerer.
Shiori's sticking point is her massive inferiority complex+ self-loathing which causes her to lash out at others she perceives as pitying her, which is why she is the way she is around Juri.
Sorcerers are born with innate magic, and this represents (to me at least) Shiori's own potential if she were to not define herself by comparison to others, or look down on herself.
Her mind is what is keeping her down... but it could be what eventually frees her.
Tumblr media
Keiko is Genie Warlock.
Keiko has the desire to be with Touga and free of Nanami. Two wishes that she wants to be granted, and she can potentially get by being one of Nanami's lackies.
Tumblr media
Tsuwabuki is Bladesong Wizard.
Wizards are characterized by studying, and Tsuwabuki spends most of his time studying the "adult" world and Nanami.
If I missed any characters you'd be interested in seeing a dnd class with, let me know!

Top 10 Hellverse characters please! HH + HB!
Hi!
Thank you for this nice ask :) I wanna speak of the series more (I wanna write more metas in general, but it is a super busy time)
Anyway. I listed my fave Hazbin Hotel's characters here.
I think that my top five slightly changed though, as it is now I would say:
Lucifer
Charlie
Vaggie
Angel
Alastor
Basically Vaggie has grown a lot on me <3<3<3
Tumblr media
I love how her arc is built in season 1, with episode 3 foreshadowing the reveal of episode 6 and how they were able to convey her past as a child soldier in a way that ties very well with her personality. Moreover, her foiling with Charlie is great.
As for my top five HB's characters...
1 - Fizzarolli
Tumblr media
Ooops and Mammon's musical are my two favourite episodes and Fizz is my kind of character, as he manages to have a wonderful and deep arc in a very short time. I love his foiling with Blitz and his relationship with Asmodeus is wonderful. It is a great subversion of the dychotomy between Lust and Love and it embodies the main themes of the series.
2- Blitz and Stolas
Tumblr media
A great protagonist and deuteragonist respectively <3 I received an ask on them, so I am gonna go quick here.
Blitz is a great protagonist because he subverts expectations. He is set up as the classical jerk wiht a heart of gold. The asshole who became an asshole because everyone around him treats him badly. This is true in a sense, as it is shown his father neglecting and abusing him... However, we slowly realize he is mostly lonely because he himself pushes his loved ones away and hurts them. The story is sympathetic towards his circumstances, but it doesn't justify nor excuse him and that is very refreshing.
Stolas is a great deuteragonist because he is exactly the same, but opposite to Blitz. He is a royal, whereas Blitz is an IMP. He has a nuclear family, which seems perfect on the surface, but is actually terrible. Blitz instead has a chaotic and dysfunctional found family made of people, who deep down love each other. Both struggle with their relationship with a daughter, but for opposite reasons. Both self-sabotage their relationship, but for opposite reasons. Both idealize the other, but in opposite ways. Stolas sees Blitz as a Knight in Shining Armor. Blitz sees Stolas as a Royal.
In short, they are great.
4 - The Sins
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just love the thought put behind their designs and their thematic resonance. I would love to write about them soon because they are really incredibly made and offer interesting interpretations of their respective vices. Plus they are cool.
5- Loona and Octavia
Tumblr media
They are bound to become adoptive sisters! Anyway, I love them and how just like their dads they appear opposites, but are actually the same. Loona has a nice arc, despite appearing less than others, and I like how the story has so far balanced her personal development with her role in Blitz's story. Octavia is mostly there for Stolas, but I like her characterization and the challenge she poses to her father. In general, you can clearly see Vivzie adores father-daughter relatioinship between this and hazbin :''').
If I were to make a top ten list of characters from both series....
Lucifer
Charlie

Max Haltmann, soup can sports curses, and some of the weirdest foreshadowing in Kirby fanfic history (Meta Knightmare III)
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR META KNIGHTMARE III
In Chapter 12 of The Later Roller Coaster, among other things listed for what the Knights are doing post-RtDL, it's mentioned that Max got his face on the labels of ETHICALLY SOURCED cans of chunky chicken soup. Sound familiar? Because this does involve some real-life sports stuff, crazily enough.
So you know Chunky's Soup? And you know how athletes, especially NFL players, star in ads with them? Well there's a Madden cover-style curse, especially prevalent in the 2000s, where players in those ads would get injured afterwards. (If any 2000s Eagles fans happen to see this, then I am very sorry for triggering any bad memories.) So how does this all tie together to Max?
Well the curse got Max too, and quite badly. And by quite badly, I mean it killed him! No, it wasn't because of him flying out and getting trapped by Star Dream, or Star Dream going beserk and nearly killing Susie before he pushed her out of the way! It was that one soup can sponsership that sealed Max's doom! This is why you shouldn't sell out, kids! (For real, it's actually pretty ironic considering how much of a capitalist maniac post-Star Dream Max is, both in canon and in MKM.)
Yep! I seriously used a blink-and-you'll-miss-it reference to a C-tier sports curse involving soup commercials in a Kirby fic to foreshadow the altered death of Max Haltmann (who btw becomes one of the Meta-Knights here alongside Susie after happily finding her years before Planet Robobot can happen). All I can say is that when I was first thinking up this insane saga in late 2019/early, pre-lockdown 2020, I wouldn't exactly have expected it would come to this (for one, the only sport I was even a bit interested in starting in 2020 was NASCAR, hence the retired racer-turned-ship salesman in MKMI). But hey, in case you haven't noticed yet this decade, at lot can change in four years!

things i know about tlt
(i have never read the books or any meta, this is based purely on what shitposts have crossed my dash, but it may contain spoilers)
the main character is different every book. gideon, harrow, nona?
gideon nav:
a fuckboy who loves swords and bullied harrow Very Badly as a child
i think she’s technically a demigod. unclear on how that works but i believe someone yoinked her dad’s jizz? and he’s god?
she died horribly but harrow picked up her consciousness and moved it somewhere else (harrow’s brain)
i have seen a lot of shit where she’s in a white suit and has a gaping hole where her heart should be so like. i don’t think that’s a metaphor but i’m given to understand her physical form is now a ‘tower prince’
harrowhark nonagesimus:
an austistic little rat woman whose hyperfixation is bones
her parents killed themselves? (is that what she was bullied over? not the rat woman thing?)
lobotomized herself, gayly
does... necromancy? i haven’t actually seen anything about that but like. she must, right?
nona:
looks like harrow--are they twins? is nona short for nonagesimus?
her soul is actually the soul of the earth who was stuck in a barbie that god wanted to fuck
she’s a baby & the least toxic mc
other characters:
ianthe is a huge bitch whose right arm is made of gold-plated bones. gideon is insecure about that bc harrow is into bones. ianthe wants to mack on harrow. she sometimes is also a tower prince which like. someone’s gonna angrily make out
ianthe has a much nicer sister(?) (fraternal twin? they’re drawn differently) but i don’t know her name
someone named cam who deserved better & had a very solid partnership until she didn’t
god’s name is john? he’s a bitch & gave his friends amnesia. i think he set up the “houses” as like, enrichment for them. no idea how he begat gideon but there seems to have been a heist about it
very little clue of what the actual plot is. there’s a body in the locked tomb? i think it’s the aforementioned barbie?
there are lyctors and cavaliers. cavalier i assume means knight but lyctor i’m less clear on. like a lector? like a lich? like a lictor (are lyctors then fascist? are they catholic fascist necromancers?) they seem to go in pairs.
someone said ‘yeet’ in the first chapter
that’s literally all i know. people mostly draw the lesbians

I have a Kirby Heardle Thread on Twitter so sometimes I go off about how much I love this series' music, here’s 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 so far (with a lot more added in lol):
Holy Shit I Fucking Love This Song And Motif. I was gonna say that Inner Struggle is better than Sword of the Surviving Guardian, but that's dumb and inflammatory. I think the two motifs of Vs. Meta Knight and Friend and the Setting Sun represent different things and have their own purposes. The former is underrated AF, but it has a separate use.      The Vs. Meta Knight motif from Super Star is used to represent fights with Meta at his lowest or when blinded by his lust for battle. Like in Revenge of MK when he's challenged you to a lost cause battle on his destroyed, rapidly sinking ship (raw af), and Planet Robobot and Epic Yarn (I love discordant piano ^^) where he's struggling against mind control. All of these carry a weight and desperation for him that is so amazingly conveyed by that theme. It’s tense, its dark, and it’s deadly as Meta’s blade.      Friend and the Setting Sun is his more general theme now, it kinda represents that after Revenge was a sobering moment for him, as encounters with him after are less antagonistic. It has that perfect “dramatically (maybe even regretfully) riding off into the sunset” vibe, which made it perfect as a credits theme then, and great as a reoccurring motif for Meta Knight now. It represents how he’s likely reflected and grown more understanding ever since that fateful defeat.       AAAAND (teehee), it goes with King and the Setting Sun which represents a paralleled moment for Dedede, with more emphasis on the “regretfully” riding off into the sunset. Which is fitting because we’ve seen that while Meta can take defeat badly by going off on rampages, Dedede becomes rather depressed about these things. Friend and the Setting Sun is regretful but steadfast, and King and the Setting Sun is regretful and just downright defeated.
All this to say, there are two battle themes for Meta Knight: Vs. Meta/Inner Struggle for when he's at his worst and deadliest, and Setting Sun for when he's being a friendly rival and continuing a character arc he shares in common with Dedede. Sword of the Surviving Guardian uses the right motif, and it owns, and I respect it. Plus I love the intro, its very jazzy and expressive! The whole song has a great feel of a friendly but still serious battle between two great warriors who have grown and changed for the better a lot since they first met.      Star Allies, unfortunately, uses the wrong motif in Friends and the Sound of Intersecting Swords, and it makes me sad. Being horribly possessed by his "wild streak" should land us some Vs. Meta Knight, but instead we have the Setting Sun motif, and I do legit feel it detracts from the potential drama of the fight. (But he is like the 3rd boss out of like,, 13?? so oh well).      KF2 got my back tho! The fucking Sworn Partners final battle music mixes like every Meta and Dedede motif! INCLUDING SO MANY TASTY ONES FROM REVENGE OF MK THAT DONT GET USED AND AUGDGSYG ITS SO GOOD!!! When they use the Revenge of MK trill right before you fight them??? I am in the stratosphere!      KF2 OST is legendary for all the love they gave Meta Knight and Dedede’s motifs. Using the Halberd and Vs. MK themes in the final battle with Dedede’s, and the Setting Sun motifs together for the credits is a really good example of the way they use them for different aspects of these characters!

I love how you draw King dedede! Also, thoughts on the Kirby TV show Kirby right back at you?
Thank you so much! Uhm this might get long so apologies for that The anime was a big part of my childhood and for my love of Kirby so I have a LOT of thoughts on it (also this includes some mild spoilers if anyone wanted to watch it)
I love it quite a lot, actually. It was one of the first mediums that helped me get really into Kirby (KRtDL/Super Star Ultra are probably the first ones to introduce me to Kirby).
I think the anime is very fun and really entertaining, but dear god I hate that it isn't game accurate. With the anime being so easy to access compared to the games (if you either don't have the money to afford one OR if you don't want to be spoiled by watching someone's playthrough/gameplay), it unfortunately is easy to think that the anime is canon, which still is a problem to this day.
For the anime content itself, I really like that they tried to build some lore about Kirby himself, and about how he and MK are a species that are destined to be Star Warriors or something, its cute! I don't mind the Cappies either, although I wont lie, it was a little odd going with "Cappy" as the population LOL. Them giving some stories with some of the generic enemies, such as with Bonkers and Knuckle Joe, was really nice. They also chose a really good voice cast for everyone in both ENG and JP, especially Dedede's. I also like the little quirk for Dedede and Escargoon in the JP where they end their sentences with "zoi" and "gesu" (I don't really know the reason for this, but I think it's a personality quirk of sorts? I could be wrong though).
Also I love Chef Nagoya so much, he's so cute, one of my most favorite characters from the anime
I do have gripes with it though. I can't help but feel Meta Knight is... really weak LOL, he's supposed to be the "last Star Warrior" and dear god he feels like just... a retired old man JDSFJHJGHH it's a little hard to be convinced that HE was the last one to survive But he is a little goofy guy, he appears and just runs away giving vague advice as if he's those "wise" people tropes. Also the fact that they didn't make him fly, when (I think) in the pilot, he does. Also just. Dedede himself. NOT THAT HE'S BAD, I quite like him a lot. It's just his characterization fucked me up so badly that I have a hard time trying not to go back to his "big asshole" type characterization.
Kirby speaking. I like that they went with him saying "Poyo", but it's been engrained so hard into my brain that I legit didn't know it was an anime only thing till recently. Although, I think that's fine, but him actually... speaking... words. Feels wrong. And this is also another issue for me, because only recently have I started to accept the "Kirby can speak" headcanon, when for so long, I've accepted that Kirby doesn't really speak since he's a "baby", because of the anime.
This is specifically with the dub. I fucking hate that they made Blade Knight incomprehensible. You have no idea how big of a relief it was to hear Blade Knight have actual speaking lines in the sub. ALSO renaming Lololo and Lalala to "Fololo" and "Falala". That fucked me up so much, it took me so long to get used to their original names
Lastly is the animation. I absolutely love the style they went with for Dedede, it's really expressive! I know that they had to use 3D with some parts to save money/move the process along, but dear god they made some part's 3D when it would have been easier to have do it with 2D. But I guess you can't do anything about that.
By the way, the anime is the reason I have a strong hatred for Kine
In conclusion, the anime is good if you want some entertainment, but it kind of ruined/mixed up a lot of people's perception on Kirby and actual canon. While how badly that has effected the community is up to the community itself, but for me as a big fan of Kirby now, it kind of messed me up a bit that I struggle with separating them still.

Hey! I love your meta’s, a little while ago you talked about The Order of the Phoenix as an organization could you talk about the Death Eaters?
The post anon is referencing.
TL;DR the Order is incompetently hilarious and Dumbledore is a man who trusts no one.
Oh, the Death Eaters, what to say about the Death Eaters...
In a World Without Voldemort, They'd Probably Be Arsonists
One of the things JKR implies in the series, and something fandom seems to take for granted, is that Tom Riddle is the ultimate corrupting influence.
Were it not for him, the Wizarding World would be a much better place, and people like Bellatrix LeStrange would be productive members of society.
As soon as he is killed, even, by Harry, the good guys win, their problems all presumably solved, and Harry tells his son Albus Severus that it's totally fine if he's put into Slytherin.
I don't believe that though.
To me, it's not so much that Tom Riddle corrupted these people, but that he gave them an organized cause. The people themselves, oh, they were itching for a fight.
In a world without Tom I think they'd be a loosely, poorly organized, group (probably with Bellatrix as the ring leader) where they commit acts of domestic terrorism probably involving burning offensive shops to the ground or attacking muggleborns, halfbloods, and blood traitors.
Voldemort, to me, is designed to pander to them (and not the other way around).
The Death Eaters' Beginnings
So, first off, I think Tom's goals are not what he says they are. What he represents to his followers is exactly what they want to hear, wrapped in a grandiose theatric bow that they just love.
But how did this all start?
First, I don't believe in the Knights of Walpurgis. Instead I think Tom came relatively out of nowhere in the 70's uses parseltongue to prove his heritage as the Heir of Slytherin and thus of purer blood than any of them.
He throws these exciting rallies/parties that the rebellious, angsty, teenage heirs all go to. There he says everything they wanted to hear in the most eloquent manner they've ever heard, promises them the action that their fathers have never delivered, promises them a role in the glorious revolution and a place in history, and probably offers them mounds of cocaine.
All the Death Eaters we see, or the core of them, appear to be in this age range where they'd be in Hogwarts or just out of it when Voldemort came knocking. I can imagine they're all whipped up with excitement, YEAH LET'S BLOW UP THE MUDBLOODS and for some that's great, for others... things don't go the way they expected.
October 31, 1981: It All Falls Apart
Regulus famously steals Tom's horcrux. I imagine it wasn't so much that he learned the error of his ways but that he saw what Tom Riddle was really after: the destruction of his very society.
Lucius is riding high until October 31, 1981 and he sees the complete destruction of the entire Black family. Lucius' priorities greatly shift and as he grows older he prays Voldemort never returns. Unfortunately, Tom does, and he charges interest.
Bellatrix absolutely loses her mind, refuses to accept reality, and tries to torture the Longbottoms for information they do not possess. She is imprisoned in Azkaban and never truly recovers from this.
Snape ends up the cause of death for Lily Evans and must forever live with the guilt and be tied to her prophesied son. He also becomes Dumbledore's lackey forever, which ultimately gets him killed.
Point being, no one's having a good time. Some because they figure out being a Death Eater wasn't all it was cracked up to be, and others because they had the Voldemort rug pulled out from under their feet when Tom Riddle disappears.
Pettigrew flees and lives as the Weasley rat for nearly fifteen years.
They're left making a mad scramble as they try to pick up the pieces of their lives.
Canon Catches Up
More than ten years go by and then suddenly, in a muggle graveyard, the surviving Death Eaters discover that they are bound to Voldemort for the rest of their lives.
Death cannot stop this man and he has branded them: there's no escape.
Some are still enthusiastic supporters of the cause: Bellatrix is vindicated that her lord has returned, he rescues her from hell on earth, and everything's finally coming up Bella. Barty is similar in actively working for Voldemort's resurrection.
Lucius, meanwhile, lives in constant terror. Karkaroff desperately flees the country and hopes Tom will not find him. Snape, is in fact, Dumbledore's agent. Pettigrew only returned in utter desperation and has now cut off his own hand.
They're not the young men they were, some of them have families, to some of the past ten years have been utterly miserable. They have to watch as their children make the same damn mistakes they did, be sucked into this same hell hole, and there's nothing they can do about it.
There is a notable reluctance for the cause, and yet, they have to try with the same vigor or this madman will kill them all.
And it's all worthless anyway: come 1998, Voldemort dies again (perhaps for real this time, who knows, Harry Potter seems to think so for whatever reason) and then they are imprisoned for their acts as Death Eaters.
And they just laugh, because how badly Lucius wishes he could go back in time and tell his eighteen-year-old self, "YOU DUMB FUCK, LEAVE NOW!"
But Do They Learn Anything?
No.
Just because we see some of them regret being Death Eaters doesn't mean they regret their beliefs. Their beliefs were fine, even blowing up people here and there, a bit gauche but fine.
But maybe following Voldemort blindly was a bad idea.
Are They More Competent Than the Order?
No.
Tom Riddle is terrifyingly competent in that he infiltrates the government with ease, has spies everywhere, and all but proclaims himself minister one day and nobody blinks.
He gains the full support of most of the wizarding world's wealthiest and prestigious families.
But he doesn't actually give these people anything to do. Because there's nothing for them to do, with them, Tom's won. He owns the Wizengamot, the Ministry, everything.
There's no need to fight. It's over, there never was a war. Society is primed to accept Tom Riddle as their ruler.
However, the likes of Bellatrix LeStrange thinks there's a glorious war on, so "uh, go out and blow up a few muggles, have fun." And the young Death Eaters (and the older ones), think they've committed this great, daring, brave, and very important act.
Tom only seems to hand out real assignments when in desperate straits or else when being particularly vindictive.
Lucius, after messing up with the diary, is told to retrieve a prophecy he is not allowed to touch in a department of the ministry he should have no access to. If he fails: Tom kills his entire family. When Lucius does fail, Tom assigns his son to assassinate an already dying Dumbledore. These aren't real tasks, though they do have the appearance of one, and consequences for failure.
Barty, Tom is forced to rely on, as he is trapped in this dying infant's body. And better Barty, someone who is truly loyal and seems fairly clever, than Peter Pettigrew who is a miserable scum bag who'd sell his grandmother for a bar of soap.
Barty, of course, fucks this up. Rather than just kidnap Harry Potter at any of the many easy points this could be done (Hogsmeade trip, lure Harry out to Hogsmeade with super secret serial information about Voldemort/Snape being a Death Eater, etc.), Barty is determined to make use of the Triwizard Tournament to destroy his father's legacy.
This means rather than a few weeks, it takes months to kidnap Harry, and even then they bring along an extra boy who then gets killed and provides some evidence that Tom Riddle has in fact returned. (Somebody murdered Cedric). It takes months and Barty actively ensuring Harry makes it through the tournament and does well, leaving open the possibility that he might get caught helping Harry cheat at any moment. And of course, Barty has to pretend to be Madeye Moody for months, keeping his man locked and drugged in his trunk.
Thankfully, Moody's such a paranoid wreck, no one even notices.
Quirrell, Tom is forced to rely on. Quirrell fucks up, though admittedly not as badly as Barty. Quirrell fails to steal the stone when it's in transit/in Gringotts. He fails to murder Harry Potter, an eleven year old boy in the world's most dangerous school. He rouses Snape's suspicion almost immediately. Then of course he doesn't get the stone. He at least gets to the room with the stone and nearly overpowers Harry and gets it had he not been mysteriously lit on fire by the power of love/Lily Evans.
The only one Tom ever really relies on by choice is Snape. Snape is charged with spying on Dumbledore and later running Hogwarts (which he fucks up).
There is only one competent man in Britain: Severus Snape. Which is, of course, why he's a double agent that Dumbledore and Tom both extensively rely on despite his being a double agent.
There's no one else.
Tom Riddle doesn't make use of the Death Eaters but given they prove themselves enthusiastically incompetent at every turn I don't blame him. Just pretend to give them something to do and hope it makes them feel important.
That's all I've got in general, you want anything else you'll have to ask for something more specific.
