It's been 3 years since the original TwoBird animatic and i finally worked on a longer version of it. I would love to thank moot for reminding me that this thing exists and that I have to finish what I started. So enjoy <3

i have to believe that it is after julien baker

i held my hand clenched into a fist as the hurricane called for me in disappointment. my hand closed until there was a shape i could feel in my palm like love or the way my knees bled as i tried to pray on a dirt field in paraguay.

i have to believe that this is how it was meant to end, this book of my family—far from home, quiet as the world burns around us. i have to believe that this is what my father wanted, needed, no different than what i’ve sought all my life:

to run to change to disappear so the nightmares could no longer find us.

back to my closed fist—i will call this shape i hold a bird and i am dying because i’m too scared of suffocating it

and too terrified of letting it fly away.

それで何度ダメだったって "How many times was that no good?" きっときっと繰り返し? Will I surely, surely repeat stuff like that? あの頃の夢が Always, always, surely, きっと seeing ずっとずっと見ていた a dream of that day

錆びた缶に The memories of 思い出と rusty tin cans and 宝物集めていた treasures that I gathered 忘れないと I thought that I 思ってた won't forget them でもいつか but one day 忘れちゃうでしょ？ I'll forget them accidentally, won't I?

ガラクタの羽で飛び出して With these garbage wings, I jump out to fly 真っ逆さまに落ちてった and then I drop head-first 瞬いた星がいつも That twinkling star, always 遠くって so far away 眩しくて and so radiant

情けなくて泣いたって Miserably crying, 誰も見ちゃいないさ Nobody's seen it, たったひとつ見つけたいのは The only thing I want to find is 証明を、 proof, 「ここにいる」と！ to say "I'm here!"

かき集めた Even the memories 思い出すらも that I've scraped up いつかはくすんでしまうように some day they'll become dark, 消えてしまった and disappear just like that この羽の I'm going to lose 想いも無くすんでしょ？ the feeling of these wings too, won't I?

いつか最後見た夢が How many times will I always, always ずっとずっと繰り返し？ keep repeatedly seeing that dream of the end? 目を背けたかった I wanted to turn my eyes away そんな　事を思い出した when I remembered such a thing

無邪気に集めていた I innocently gathered them, 思い出や宝物が memories and treasures 思い出せなくて日々は過ぎていく yet days pass without me remembering 無暗に進んできた I recklessly, of my own will came 夜空の中で and in the middle of the night sky 揺蕩っていたくて I want to shake and sway about

大人になればいつか…なんて Saying "someday when I grow up…" and 結局少しも進んじゃいない！ after all I haven't progressed one bit! あの頃の僕がいつも At that time, I was always 煌めいて sparkling, 輝いて shining…

「そら」に包まれ消えたくて I wanted to disappear while wrapped up in the 'sky' さよならを唄おう Let's sing farewell, たったひとつ見失った The only thing I lost sight of 居場所だって Since the place I belong, ここにはないから is not here, after all
