Adding Ludger to the deal doesn't deter Theo at all; seems he's happy so long as he gets that second dinner under the beautiful night sky. "I should be able to set up another day within a week. My DODA work has been on the slow side, and the commercial GHS is still on course to release by our deadline. The only thing that could hinder this plan is a few dimensions beyond what a quarter Chromatus can reach, but I have ways to make Rideaux want to handle those."
Just as Rideaux has a way of picking into Julius' raw nerves, the opposite is also true. It helps people of Rideaux's type are easily manipulated if you prod at their pride. He can make his little plan work so long as he keeps his reasons quiet, lest he never escape Rideaux's "how did someone as boring as you get a date?" comments.
Tumblr media
"It's not as hard as you're likely thinking-- Ludger likes tomatoes plenty himself," Just not as obsessively as his big brother. Though it's good he doesn't; Julius' reasons are steeped in sentimental thoughts of what he's lost. "And I know he doesn't forget to exclude eggplants. They're mostly a part of his grand attempt to get me to tolerate them to no success. Or he wants me to know I've made him feel lonely."
Such a cute baby brother. He'll have to hug him and tell him he loves him after the afternoon's over.
--Buuut since Julius' not at risk of Ludger finding out he's delving into bad habits, Julius leans back to catch Ms. Ladia's eyes with a slight nod. She winks back, returning to the kitchen for a second to signal Mr. Kresnik's ordering that drink. Sometimes fame and recurring business has its perks. Theo's future reaction'll be interesting given their conversation.
"The Miracle Kholodet isn't the same size as a Gel, you know. Though I understand it can feel as if you're eating a novelty snack than a proper meal," Not to fear, Julius does have another tomatoless alternative on the tip of his tongue. "Another Ludger-approved option I do like the Bryndzové Halušky. They're potato dumplings with bacon, eggs, and a special cheese made from sheep milk. It's rather different given sheep cheese is a high premium ingredient in Elympios, but that's the beauty of eating out, no?"
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤ THEODORE'S face lit up at the agreement of a next time and he nodded with renewed enthusiasm. " I - if that's fine with you then I'd be happy to spend time more with you and Ludger here next time ... ! Please do let me know whenever you both are available and I'd be happy to join you two. " Next time ... there would be a next time. He felt his heart swell with joy at the thought of having friends to enjoy his break with.
ㅤㅤ He couldn't help but laugh, endeared by the fact that Julius was in fact, beyond fond of tomatoes and not to mention, he was happily admitting that he indulged himself whenever Ludger wasn't around. " It must be tough for him having to manage your tomato obsession but don't worry, I'll keep this between us. " Perhaps as a form of appreciation for being taken out to such a lovely place. " If I didn't know any better, I'd say he's letting you know he's cross with you by leaving eggplants in the dish -- well, assuming you've been honest about your other food preferences anyways. I'm not exactly fond of eggplant either so I somewhat understand ... " In Theodore's case, it was more of a texture thing so he never really went out of his way to make eggplant dishes apart from the first time he's tried them. Although, he wondered if Ludger would be able to make it better than he could ... perhaps the librarian's opinion could change if it was prepared by another albeit better cook.
ㅤㅤ " Miracle .... Kholodet ? It sounds practical more than anything but I suppose it's better than nothing if you're running low on time to pick and choose your meal. I don't know if I'd be able to enjoy something like that though ... " After all, meals were an experience to enjoy in one's daily life. " With that being said, do you only order tomato dishes here ? I think I understand your ordering habits now but let's say ... if Ludger was here, would you have any other recommendations ? "

Working at a restaurant with 141! (pt. 3)
"All of us under one roof? Have you lost the plot?"
Gaz snorts, all of you sitting at the bar. You shake your head. The thought alone makes you dizzy.
"Just me and you is hectic enough."
Gaz stares at Soap. John laughs, sipping his scotch. You think for a moment before taking your shot. Wait a fucking second. You joke about how they have decided to make your flat nothing short of a base, and if they're gonna be at your place more than theirs they should at least pay some of your bills. They freeze. Johnny nearly jumps for joy, grabbing your face and kissing you,
"Smart fuckin girl. 'N' if we're paying 'er bills, might as weel move in aye?"
That is not what you meant.
"Who knows, maybe it'll stop them from trying to drag 'er in the walk-in."
John shrugs. They cannot be entertaining this bullshit.
"Doubt it."
Simon shoots back his glass. There's a pause. They look at each other. Oh my God they are entertaining this bullshit.
"I'll think about it."
Price finishes his drink. They talk like you're not even there. You're horrified. Four men and you. One apartment. Not just any men, them. Maybe this is all some sick joke.
"You can always say no."
Simon kisses you before you hop out his car. You're not sure if you believe that. Your phone buzzed in the middle of the night, it's the group chat. Soap sends a link to a three bedroom flat,
Thoughts?
Three dots pop up.
Ok.
Simon replies. That's the only they blessing needed to move forward.
Hectic does not describe the move-in process, there are arguments on who's furniture gets moved in, who sleeps where, who gets to use which bathroom. Eventually there was a vote held (not that it mattered, John always had final say).
Anything big enough to accommodate the five of you was moved in. There would be a bed rotation, making sure no one slept with Ghost and Soap at the same time (and if everyone got tired of their shit, there's three beds for a reason.) Gaz and Soap shared a bathroom upstairs, you shared the one downstairs with Ghost and Price (this made sure you and Kyle had enough space for both your skincare products.)
You barely wore your own clothes anymore; with a closet full of clothes that were comfy and looked good on you, why bother? All your love languages included physical touch, so at any given moment, someone was touching somebody in the house. Lots of shared showers to "save water". Simon mostly cooks with the occasional help of you or Johnny. Sunday roast meant the kitchen was off limits for everyone except Simon, God help anyone who even tries to step foot in his territory.
Holidays are chaotic, always loud with a lot of drinking. And sex. Your first Christmas together was particularly memorable. Of course everyone got gifts that they treasured, including you. But you didn't know what to get Simon. Of course he was the type to say he didn't want anything but, that wasn't right. He opened his gift from you, he stared at it, said a simple thank you and slid it into his pocket. There's a game of poker being played in the living room after gifts are opened. Simon leaves to the bedroom,
"M tired."
Everyone else says goodnight, too enraptured by the game. While there's an argument about Johnny's shuffling, you walk to the bedroom. There he is, cranking the little handle on the wooden music box you gave him; it played Danny boy, wasn't bigger than the palm of your hand, and had an engraving on the inside lid.
"It's the words on the first hoodie you gave me."
"Mhm. Didn't have to get me anything."
He says, still turning the handle. Avoiding eye contact. You sit next to him.
"Don't know if you know how much you mean to me, promise I'll show you though."
His voice the softest you've ever heard. He tucks the box back into his pocket. A quick kiss to your forehead before walking back to the living room with you. This was one of the many holidays Simon didn't have to spend alone anymore.

AUSWNT x Teen!Reader
-------------------
"Hi, Macca!" You grinned, rushing into the Keeper's waiting arms. "I missed you!"
"I've missed you too, kid," she smiled, squeezing you tightly. "How's Spain treatin' you?"
"Good."
"What about me?" Alanna questioned. "I haven't seen you in a while too, y'know."
"Oh, hi Lani," you patted the defender on the shoulder. "Didn't see you there."
"You're so mean," the cityzen feigned hurt, all too familiar with your playful antics. "Kyra said to go and meet her and Charli in her room. They need you for something. Probably a prank."
"Alright," you gave her and Mac fist-bumps as you walked past. "If I turn up dead tomorrow, you know what happened."
---------------------
"Hey, Ky, hey Char," you greeted, eyebrows raised as you followed Kyra into the room. "What was it you needed?"
"Y/N, perfect," Charli was suspiciously gleeful. "We've got some Tim Tams that we need eaten, but Ky and I have already had too many. You mind finishing them for us?"
"Sure," you agreed instantly, never one to deny a Tim Tam (even if it was way too early in the morning. "I'm down."
-------------------
In short, you consumed three whole packets of Tim Tams. Kyra and Charli had shared a look, the former getting up and grabbing a coffee from otherwise empty desk. "You look kinda tired. Have some coffee, it'll help you get through the jetlag for now."
You hadn't thought much of it, so you'd graciously accepted it and finished it within the hour.
"Y/N! Kyra! Charli!" Lydia's voice called through the door, followed by a couple of knocks. "We've gotta head to training! Get ready to go!"
You rolled your eyes, much to Kyra and Charli's amusement. "Yes, mum!"
--------------------
"MINIMINIMINIMINIMINIMINI!" you practically yelled, barreling towards the surprised Midfielder excitedly. "LOOKLOOKLOOKLOOK!"
"Woah, kiddo," she sidestepped, glancing over at Alanna. "You're a lot stronger than I am. Careful."
Alanna was quick to pull you into a hug in a fruitless attempt to calm you down. "What's goin' on, Y/N? You okay?"
You were shaking, bouncing up and down rapidly in the defender's arms. "What d'you mean? I'm great!"
You bolted away, somersaulting across the pitch before slamming your foot into a ball that had been laying on the ground. "WHEEEE!"
"Y/N, Y/N, Y/N," Tony ran over with Steph in tow. "What's happened, kiddo? You just excited?"
"Yeah yeah yeah!" you did a random backflip for no reason other than you feeling like it. "I'm excited! Yup yup yup!"
Ellie looked severely ashamed for what she was about to whisper to Hayley. "Is she... is she high?"
"No, there's no way," the Madrid player shook her head instantly. "She cares about her career way too much to jeopardize it with something like drugs."
"Yeah, you're right. But if she's not high, then what?"
Across the pitch, Lydia and Mackenzie's eyes swept over each and every player like hawks.
Instead of being worried that a new, younger keeper would take their places when you joined the national team, they immediately took you under their wings and declared themselves as your team moms. It wasn't a secret that they'd kill anybody who messed with you.
"Mac," Lydia elbowed the West Ham captain. "Over there."
Mac's eyes zeroed in on two best friends, seemingly worried as they whispered in each other's ears. "Oi! Cooney! Grant! You got somethin' to share with the team?"
Both of their heads snapped up, fear written clearly all over their faces.
Two tall, angry Australian goalkeepers was a terrifying sight for anybody, but up until now, none of the Tillies had been on the receiving end of your team moms' wrath. Safe to say, no one was prepared.
"You give my kid something?" Macca demanded, rolling up her sleeves. "Why's she actin' weird?"
Charli gulped. "We— we, uh..."
"Spit it out," Mackenzie growled, ignoring the fact that you were currently clinging onto her leg like a koala. "What. Did. You. Do. To. My. Kid?"
"We gave her a bunch of Tim Tams," Kyra blurted out, caving as soon as Lydia dragged her thumb across her throat menacingly. "And... and... Charli gave her a coffee with, like, eight packets of sugar in it!"
"Me?!" Charli cried. "You literally handed it to her! And it was your idea! I only agreed!"
"Oh, you two are so dead," Mac glared, lumbering forward with much difficulty considering there was a 140-pound human attached to her right leg. "I swear to God, I'm gonna murder you both."
Lydia did it for her, seizing both troublemakers by the fronts of their shirts. "You think this is funny? Y/N can be fuckin' dangerous when she's hyper! She coulda run over Mini!"
Kyra looked past Lydia's shoulder to where you were snuggling into Macca's knee and babbling about racecars. "Uh—"
A smack to the back of the head shut her up real fast.
"Not now, Ky!" Charli hissed through gritted teeth.
"Tony!" Kyra pleaded as Lydia's grip on her training bib became tighter. "Tony, please!"
The manager held up his hands, walking backwards and almost tripping on the drinks cooler. "Nope. Not getting involved."
"Steph—"
The skipper looked around wildly. "I... I have to go plan your funeral! In the bathroom! Bye!"
"Ras, please—"
The Madrid player was gone before the gunner could even finish her sentence.
Lydia's eye twitched.
"Uh-oh."
----------------------
"Y/N, babes, you good?" Ellie asked, nudging you slightly.
You blinked slowly. "Huh?"
"I'm gonna go get Mac, I'll be right back."
True to her word, the Lyon defender returned a minute later with the ever-protective older keeper at her side.
"Y/N's kind of out of it," Ellie explained as your head bobbed slightly. "I think she's crashing from the sugar."
"Aww, kiddo," Mackenzie sat beside you on the bench, using a hand to place your head on her shoulder. "It's only three, you tired?"
"Mhmm," you murmured, only half-paying attention. "Sleepy."
She sent a cowering Kyra and Charli a death glare. "Go to sleep, kid. I'm sure Tony wouldn't mind. Right, Tony?"
The manager instantly agreed, giving you both an awkward and slightly terrified thumbs-up. "I— yup. Whatever you want, girls. It's- it's totally up to you."
Lydia walked over, brushing a flyaway out of your face. "I'll bring you up to your room when we're done here. Get some rest, kid."

(part 3 of November Paramedic; part 2 is here.)
When Gareth mentioned a plan to locate Eddie’s paramedic in shining armor, Eddie assumed it'd be him getting into various accidents all over Indianapolis. It's something the little shit would've found funny, okay! But, Gareth's plan is much less hazardous and slightly more logical: lurk around the university until they spot him. Like a pair of drug dealers trying to tempt the goody-two-shoes protagonist into addiction and sin on an 80s Saturday morning cartoon.
It's not the simplest task since they don't know when Steve might be there. Also, other responsibilities mean they can only spare so many hours loitering. So, thirteen days post-hatching plan and nineteen days post-meeting Steve (not that Eddie's been counting or anything), with nothing to show for their ethically questionable behavior, Eddie is ready to give up. Especially since both of them have a rare simultaneous day off. Usually, those are spent jamming, smoking, playing D&D… literally anything other than this.
"This is fucking stupid," he says, cigarette clenched between his teeth. "We're not gonna run into him."
"Sure we are," Gareth says. He drops his butt among the dozens they've chain-smoked and lights another without meeting Eddie's gaze. "We're getting closer. I can feel it."
"The only thing you're feeling is delusional. It's time to give up."
"Eddie, c'mon-"
"Nope." One last drag and Eddie stomps out his cig. "Fuck this; I'm out."
He stalks toward his van at the far end of the parking lot. Gareth curses before running after him.
"Dude!" he exclaims, jogging to keep up with Eddie's longer strides. "You can't just give up! What about what you said-"
"I was being stupid. What was I even imagining? We orchestrate another meeting and, what, I use my freakish wiles and seduce him? And then we'll live happily ever after…" Eddie shakes his head. "It doesn't work like that. He'd probably turn out to be a douche anyhow."
"No, listen!" Gareth seizes Eddie's arm and yanks him to a stop in the middle of the lot. "You always do this. Self-sabotage and cut things short, even when there's potential."
Eddie scoffs. "You know what else always happens? I end up liking them more than they like me. It's not fun."
"You don't know it'll be like that this time. You have to try."
"No."
Eddie takes a step back. He's done; he's out. Gareth reaches for his wrist to pull him back in. He jerks away, almost losing his footing and stumbling into the burgundy car behind him. Gareth's arms shoot out to help, but Eddie steadies himself before crashing. For a second, silence reigns as they assure everyone's on solid ground. Then Eddie opens his mouth to once and for all-
"Eddie? Gareth?"
Their heads snap to the side, eyes landing on… Max? Looking unusually dressy in high-waisted shorts and a fitted top under an oversized jacket, and her hair in a high ponytail. She's got her skateboard under her arm, a messenger bag with a textbook sticking out, and a confused furrow between her eyebrows.
"What are you doing here?" she asks.
Fuck. They can't tell her the truth – she'll never let him live it down. Fortunately, Gareth realizes this too, because he says:
"Uh, I go to school here? What are you doing here? The math building is way over there."
She rolls her eyes and leans on the burgundy car. It's a shiny BMW M5 – the limited anniversary edition. Jesus fucking Christ, Eddie almost dented that thing! It's worth more than his life. And Max is slouching against it like it's nothing. He could warn her not to scratch it, but she's unlikely to care; she's always been metal that way.
"Waiting for my friends," she says. "We have dinner on Tuesdays."
Eddie's ears ignite. Dinner? With friends? While wearing what's basically a date outfit?
"Ooohhh…" he says, sharing a grin with Gareth. "And do these friends include someone special?"
She shrugs, looking anywhere but at him. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"C'mon, Red! You're killing me! I need to know if he's good enough for you."
His fingers hover over her ponytail, as if to tug at it. She slaps his hand away.
"You're annoying."
He laughs. This terrible day just became infinitely better. He won't rest until he gets what he wants – or until she punches him, which'll probably come first. He's about to tell her so when a voice calls her name. Both turn to look, and…
It's a boy Max's age. He's beaming and waving, quickening his steps toward her. She smiles too, almost shyly, as she waves back. It's the perfect opportunity for teasing, if Eddie's day hadn't just become infinitely better.
His tongue is heavy, his skin is itching, his heart is bruising his ribs from the inside. Sweat is gathering in his pits and it's getting a little hard to breathe. Because walking half a pace behind the boy, carrying a huge duffel with such ease it might actually be stuffed with feathers, is… is…
"Yesssss!" Gareth hisses next to him. He may also be fist-pumping. Eddie isn't looking.
"Hey!" The boy stops in front of Max. "Sorry, practice ran late."
"It's okay," she says, cooler than ice, though her eyes are glittering. "I just got here."
She says something else, or maybe the boy does? It's all background noise, because Steve has caught up. Steve, in jeans and a polo that must've been tailored to his exact measurements because oooooooooohhhh boy. Steve, unshouldering the bag, muscles shifting and straining under his shirt with the movement. Steve, smiling, his golden eyes flying over Eddie.
"Hey! Eddie and Gareth, right?"
Eddie draws a sharp breath. He remembers!
"Y-Yeah!" he squeaks, hands fluttering to either wave or shake hands, ultimately doing neither. "Hi! You're here!"
"I am," Steve says, casual, as if inane conversations with former patients happen on the regular.
(It better not – Eddie doesn't do well in competitive settings.)
Max, keen eyes darting between them, asks, "You know each other?"
"Met at work," Steve says. "Or, I was working and he…"
"Ah." Max taps her temple. "That."
"How do you know them?" the boy asks her.
She points at Eddie. "Neighbor. And that's the guy who dumpster dives outside our apartment building."
Gareth flips her off. Eddie would laugh, but he's busy pretending he doesn't know what Steve looks like shirtless. It's hard (pun slowly growing more relevant) – his gaze keeps dropping to the polo's undone top button. Steve is just as gorgeous out of uniform, and now Eddie's thighs are tingling with want. He could stare at him forever…
Unfortunately, 'forever' is cut short by a woman arriving in a flurry. Wait, no. 'Flurry' implies some sort of graceful whimsy, while this person… she's a hurricane crashing into a house.
"Sorry I'm late! Nielsen wouldn't stop talking and got angry when people started leaving because it's an important lecture so this girl called him out for not keeping time because he goes on all these tangents and he said they're interesting tidbits and she said it's disrespecting our time and-" She pauses for breath. "You don't care, do you?"
Max, Steve, and the boy shake their heads.
"Right. Sorry." The woman turns to Eddie and Gareth. "Hi! I'm Robin. And you are?"
"My neighbor and his friend. Steve treated his concussion," Max rattles off, glaring at them. "You didn't answer my question: why are you here?"
Gareth frowns. "I told you," he says, pointing at the building. "School." He points at himself. "Student."
Max glares harder. "You don't have class on Tuesdays. And Eddie doesn't go here at all."
"I had stuff I needed to drop off."
"Is tagging along a crime? Jesus."
Max doesn't reply, though her glare remains.
Robin hums. "Okay, so this is super-enjoyable, I love just standing around, but I'm starving, so…" She looks at Steve, who nods.
"Yeah, we're going," he says, but neither moves. He glances at Eddie, which makes her glance at Eddie, and then they make a series of eyebrow-movements at each other, ending in a shared smile. Steve asks, "Have you guys eaten yet?"
Eddie shakes his head, pulse racing. Is this going where he thinks it is?
"D'you wanna come with? There's this diner we like…"
Holyshityesitis!
"Yeah!" Fuck, too eager. "I mean, uh, sure, sounds good."
"Cool." Grinning, Steve clicks a remote car key; the burgundy BMW beeps. What the fuck? How high is a paramedic's salary?! "Did you drive here?"
"I, uh…" Eddie falters. Shit, wasn't he supposed to? It's been three weeks and he feels fine – he thought he was in the green!
"Nope! I did!" Gareth says, 'proving' it by hauling his house keys from his pocket and jingling them.
Steve nods. "Should be safe for you to drive again, but the less strain you put on your brain, the better. Even a mild concussion isn't anything to sneeze at."
"Y-Yeah, I've been taking it easy. Basically done nothing. Until now."
Max snorts. Eddie is going to pour coffee through her mail slot.
They decide Eddie and Gareth will follow Steve's car to the diner, since Steve can't fit all of them (the real reason he asked if they drove here, duh). It's good because Eddie gets the chance to panic/gush/collect himself in the privacy of his van. It's bad because Gareth drives, lest their fib be revealed. Gareth spends the ten-minute journey gloating about driving Eddie's beloved girl, interspersed with 'I told you so!'s.
The diner is cozy, all wooden furniture and sepia photographs on the walls. A graying waitress who smells like tobacco directs them to a booth and takes their orders. An awkward silence then falls as they wait for someone to speak.
The boy clears his throat. "My name is Lucas, by the way. I don't think I said." After shaking his hand and introducing themselves, Lucas says to Eddie, "I think Max has mentioned you."
"Oh yeah? I've been dying for her to mention y- Ow!"
Eddie rubs where Max kicked his shin. Her glare is murderous. Lucas is blushing happily, though.
"So, what d'you guys do?" Robin asks.
Right. Time to small-talk like adults. Eddie gets his job as a mechanic out of the way, then gives the word to Gareth, who tells them he's a creative writing major. Robin turns out to be getting a masters in linguistics and Lucas studies biology.
"I don't actually know what I want to do, but biology feels broad enough to give me options, y'know? I can go to med school, or forensics, or, I don't know, paleontology?" he says. Max glows brighter with every word that comes out of his mouth. Cute.
This then segues into talking about their friends, who by the sound of it lead incredibly interesting lives.
"Dustin's at MIT, Mike's at Oxford, Will's in San Francisco…" Lucas says, counting on his fingers.
Max interjects, "El's in Africa building houses and teaching kids English."
"Erica is still at home, finishing high school and drowning in early acceptance letters to, like, every Ivy League there is," Steve says with a look of pure pride.
"Nancy and Jonathan – they're our age – are chasing scoops in Afghanistan… " Robin says.
"... and Argyle is also in California," Lucas finishes.
Eddie whistles. "And here we are, still in Indianapolis."
"Dude, I'm surprised I got this far," Steve says. "Wouldn't've managed without her."
He jerks a thumb in Robin's direction, who preens at the acknowledgment. Robin's cool, Eddie decides. Garrulous but fun and nice… and verrrrrrrrry close to Steve. The kind of close where they're always in each other's space. Where they wordlessly transfer food between their plates. Where Steve unceremoniously wipes a speck of ketchup off Robin's chin after she repeatedly fails to get it. They're comfortable, but not necessarily romantically affectionate. Like they're siblings rather than lovers.
(Dear God, if you are in heaven, let them be siblings.)
Conversation flows. They joke around, tell stories, swap opinions. Robin gets passionate about tonal shifts when stage shows are adapted to film, and Eddie tries not to stare at Steve's mouth as he eats. And then, once their plates are cleaned and they're waiting for dessert, Gareth leans his elbows on the table and fixes Steve with a purposeful look.
"I figured out where I've seen you before."
Eddie stiffens.
Steve blinks. "At campus, right?"
"Thought so, but no. I realized it's actually…" Gareth chuckles. "It's ridiculous, but uh, my mom had this calendar…"
Steve recoils, red flooding his face. Robin, Lucas, and Max shriek in delight, Robin grabbing Steve's arm and shaking it as he hides behind his hands.
"And my mom," Gareth says between bursts of laughter, "she's shameless, all right? She kept it in our kitchen. So during, what was it, November?"
"November," Steve confirms, muffled.
"For 30 days, if I wanted to check the date or make a notation… I saw you."
Tears stream down Robin's face, she's laughing so hard. She and Max have started chanting 'Slut! Slut! Slut!' at the still crimson Steve.
"You don't understand," Lucas says, gesturing for emphasis. "We've been waiting for someone to come up and say 'hey, weren't you…?' for years. Thank you so much!"
"Hey, thank my mom," Gareth says. Eddie's quite stunned he'd throw his own mother under the bus like that. She's a really nice person, too!
"Makes sense," Max says. "Moms love Steve."
"All parents do," Lucas says.
Cackling, Robin pinches Steve's cheek. "Gotta hide your mom and your dad around Steve!"
Steve bats her off, flushed but smiling. "Yeah, yeah, laugh it up. You got your wish, now shut it."
That only makes the three restart the chant to ridicule him for his harlotry. Steve's indignant squawk that 'it was for charity!' merely has everyone laugh more.
And Eddie? Well. As he sits beholding this man who works as a paramedic and drives a luxury car, who models for charity and allows his friends to mock him for it, who blushes and giggles when they lovingly call him a whore…
All Eddie can think is that he's in fucking trouble.
Afterward, it only makes sense for Eddie to drive Max home. Steve shakes his hand outside the diner, saying it was nice to see him again. Eddie, not knowing how to ask for Steve's contact info without seeming weird, agrees. He waits until the BMW drives off, then tells Gareth to get the fuck out of his seat. Gareth relocates to the backseat, whining since Max already called shotgun.
The initial minutes, they're quiet. Then Max turns to Gareth and says:
"When were you telling me Eddie is your mom?"
"Huh?"
"You said you knew about the calendar because of your mom. But that's not true."
The warmth drains from Eddie's face; his knuckles crack around the steering wheel. Gareth's expression is the epitome of 'oh shit' when he meets Eddie's gaze in the rear-view mirror.
"Yes, it is," Gareth says.
"It's not," Max says.
"It is!"
"It's not! The calendar was for 2021, and in November '21 you were a freshman and had already moved into the dorms! If your mom kept it in her kitchen, you wouldn't have seen it!"
She scowls at Gareth, mouth pinched and eyes flashing, daring him to contradict her.
Gareth swallows thickly. "It… wasn't for 2021."
"Yes, it was."
"How do you know?"
She puts her hands in her lap and lifts her chin, almost primly. Eddie gasps as the penny drops.
Gareth screams, "WHAT!"
"You have it?" Eddie cries. "Why do you have it?"
She scoffs. "You know why – you've seen his pecs."
"I don't- Okay, how're you so sure it's me?"
"Because you spent all of dinner looking like you wanted to crawl inside his mouth and live there." Her nose wrinkles. "At least I hope it was his mouth you want to crawl into-"
She's cut off by Gareth shouting "I can't hear you! Lalalalalalala-"
Eddie crumples in his seat. He's depleted of blood, air, life, everything. Behind, Gareth is grilling Max for information: are Steve and Robin together? Is Steve single? Is he queer?
Max replies: no, yes, and 'that's not for me to tell, moron'.
Gareth nods, satisfied. "That means he is. If he was straight, you'd say so." He slaps Eddie's arm. "You got a shot, man!"
"You… don't know that…" Eddie wheezes.
Max tuts, shaking her head. "You actually want to hit on my chauffeur."
"He prefers the term 'seduce'," Gareth says.

Tumblr media
God I love having powerful women at my feet ty YESSIR I CAN IMAGINE IT AND I'M GOING INSANE❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
This woman was once a goddess so full of love, only for her heart to harden once she ran out of love to give :(((( it's up to you to give her that love again 🥰
In all seriousness though it is such a PRIVILEGE to be let past the many walls she has made for herself, let alone being able to hold her heart in your hands. Please hold it gently :( I know you lot wanna get on with it already but the path towards loving and domming this archon is! Very difficult! But in the end it's so worth it :333 bc she will show you pure, utter love and devotion—it'll have everyone, especially the Harbingers, jealous of such a connection, though whether they're jealous of you for being in the arms of their Tsaritsa or they're jealous of their GOD being the receiver of your love is anyone's guess
Ofc there's always the option where you date the Harbingers too but like that isn't the focus here shhhhh 🤫🤫🤫🤫
Once you have gained her full trust, now all you need is to reassure her that it's okay to put down her crown whenever it's just the two of you. It'll certainly take a while again, but when she finally has the courage to let go and essentially give you the reigns, well...
It started off with the same sort of song-and-dance, with the two of you kissing each other deeply as your hands roamed around each other's bodies.. yet usually none of your actions have ever gone beyond simply feeling each other up and building up that excitement before simply letting it down lightly and settling for something less.. carnal.
This time, however, it's as if some hidden switch had been found—you know not of what spurred your beloved archon to get more starved for touch than usual, with her hands wandering within the confines of your clothing and brushing onto bare skin, but you weren't complaining in the least.. though you couldn't help but feel confused.
It is only when she backs you up and pushes you down onto the bed before straddling your lap with a brand new look in her eyes, so utterly clouded with need, that you realise what she wants.
"Are you sure? You know I don't mind waiting for as long as you need."
"And how long will you last in this world before it takes you from me too?" The Tsaritsa shakes her head with a sad smile as she focuses on you despite the lustful daze she's in, "No, I am ready to be taken by you, in both body and soul."
You couldn't help but soften at your lover's confession, warmth filling you despite the cold radiating off her skin—something of a side effect from being the Cryo Archon, you had guessed—and just a touch of melancholy brushing against your heart as she speaks of her fear for the loss of you.
It's not as if you were going to simply discard such a proclamation, especially when it comes from the Goddess of Love herself, so you gently brush a hand on her cheek before moving down to squeeze her bicep in reassurance, "If that is what my Archon wants, then--"
"No."
"No?"
"Within the confines of this room, I do not want to be above your stature." She wraps her hands around your neck, causing you to shiver pleasantly at the icy contact, "I wish to be equals.. and..."
"And..?"
Her voice was quieter this time, a lot more bashful as she looks away with a rosy tint on her cheeks, "Perhaps even.. below you.. with a loss of my power."
"..You're sure?"
"Yes, I..." She lets out a light exhale before looking at you with true sincerity in her eyes, "I trust you with full control over me."
You try to find the words that seem appropriate to answer with, and yet you find none. So you kiss her tenderly at first.. before deepening the kiss, taking charge as you pull her towards you.
When she lets out a low moan of satisfaction, you couldn't help but smile as you proceeded beyond the line that the two of you were initially hesitant to cross.
Anyways after that, you have the feared Tsaritsa at the palm of your hand, ready and eager to do what you'd want to do ☺️☺️☺️☺️
Imagine being gentle with her at first, showing her soooo much love in your actions as you kiss and touch and worship her body. Her breaths are heavy and deep, perhaps even hot if it weren't for the fact that they came out as cold fogs. In fact, she's cautious at first due to her being very cold, her body temperature SO unlike yours but you tell her that it's okay!!! It'll feel even better anyway 🫶 why?
Temperature play ☺️☺️☺️ she's naturally really cold, so if you put your finger in her sopping cunt, your warmth is doing basically like half the work for you. Start adding friction into the equation, moving your digits inside her as you pepper hot kisses on pale skin and let your tongue swirl on her breasts, and she'll be squirming in basically no time due to how hot your touch feels compared to hers 🫶🫶🫶🫶
THEN you get rougher with her; adding more force into your touch and you start getting more relentless by the second and preventing her from actually taking a moment. The moment you say something degrading towards her by pure accident, you swear it just slipped out, at first you think you've made a GRAVE mistake like yk she said that you can do whatever but YOU DON'T THINK SHE MEANT??? THAT!!!!!!! But when a whine escapes her lips as her eyes nearly roll to the back of her head, her wet folds squeezing your fingers all the while, you realise she LIKES that. And that's like. Holy shit she trusts you THAT much that she's LETTING you essentially ruin her and her godly image
The moment you mutter both words of praise AND degredation is the moment she's gonna be SOOOO GONEEEEEEE❗️❗️❗️
"You're sucking me in," you mused out loud with a light smirk. "Who knew the Cryo Archon turned out to be such a pretty whore... For someone like me, no less."
She bucks her hips up with a raspy moan at your words, the sound absolutely sinful to your ears, despite the fact that at the state she was in, there was no way she understood most of what you said. Her skin flushed and her lips swollen because of you, the once ever-so-frigid archon was reduced to a pathetic mess.
Of course such a scene was an ego boost for you, not to mention a turn on.
Your lips traced a line all the way down, from her lips.. to her chest.. to her abdomen.. until it brushes her sensitive clit, your breath hot against cold skin. You feel her fingers tangle themselves in your hair, gripping tightly in anticipation and need for you to do whatever it is you wanted to do.
"My beautiful girl is so eager for me, aren't you?" You cooed as your free hand airily grazed the outside of her thigh before gripping onto it, "Don't worry your pretty little head, hm? I'll give you sooo much love, you won't even know what to do with it all."
All it took was one lick with your tongue, the muscle so unbearably hot to her touch, for the Tsaritsa to realise that you were going to make good on that promise of yours.
SHE'LL TAKE EVERYTHING WITHOUT A WORD OF COMPLAINT UGGHGB in fact she'll even DELIGHT in the change of roles, in the way that you're happily using and toying with her :3333
Overstimming her would be SO MUCH FUN because of the temperature build-up. Not to mention if you say that you love her??? Oh FUCK her reaction is delightful—she'll start fucking CRYING, both at the overstim and the fact that you truly love her and you were willing to show it in every way you can :((((( and suddenly she's seeing STARS behind her eyelids as she cums herself silly :3
From that and the later sessions you have, it's very clear who TRULY holds the reigns between you 🫶🫶🫶🫶 and with the Tsaritsa, who needs and DESERVES a break from being looked down upon as some......some antagonist in Teyvat's story, well. She wouldn't have it any other way 🥰
Oh. One more thing before this is done!!! She's an EXPERT at aftercare hello she's not the (former) Goddess of Love for nothing, just saying..........just give her a few mins to recover first. Or maybe an hour. Just give her a moment 😭😭😭 OR ALTERNATIVELY PAMPER HER AFTERWARDS❗️❗️❗️❗️ Take care of her, you'll see her cry again, something she'd usually refuse to do around everyone else, and you just gotta hug her and tell her you're here and it's okay and that you love her :((((

Sub skz getting edged/overstimulated?
Pretty please 🥺
sure 🥰 i hope you meant combining the two bc that’s what i went with!
chan - channie is sooo good when he’s getting edged. he does start to get a little whiny and restless over time, but he still tries his best to keep his patience bc he wants to do well for you and he knows it’ll feel even better once he’s finally allowed to cum. he begs a lot even when it's clear it won’t get him anywhere, apologizes even when he's done nothing wrong, and he never forgets to say please in the sweetest, broken voice. it’s hard to resist him when he’s so earnest but at the same time it makes him all the more fun to tease~ he goes crazy when you coo over him and pet his head, promising it'll be over soon, only to deny him yet again. he's the type to whimper out a tiny "please please please" and push his hips up when he's close, then groan weakly when his orgasm escapes him for the umpteenth time. but he handles the edging part a lot better than the overstim, once he climaxes (and he cums hard after being edged so many times) it’s only a matter of seconds before he’s thrashing around crying out that it’s too much. he’s very sensitive and can’t take being overstimulated for too long, esp if you used his cum as lube to pump him even faster, he might start to cry a bit. but the sweet, pleading little sounds he lets out when you keep going makes it very tempting to see how much more he'll endure for you
lino - he has the biggest love/hate relationship with edging bc he does not have the patience for it, but the pleasure always pays off so deliciously in the end that he’ll do practically anything just to get his orgasm. it’s like a cheat code for making him obedient~ unlike chan, minho doesn’t shy away from voicing his dissatisfaction every time you edge him. he’s whining, provoking you, and mouthing off after being denied just once bc he’s so used to immediately getting what he wants. he definitely needs to be bound somehow or kept an eye on so you can smack his misbehaving hands away bc he will try to touch himself or tug your hand back to his dick once he gets desperate enough (he’ll hit you with those deceptively innocent glossy eyes too…good luck) the way he looks when you finally let him cum makes all his fussing worth it though. his eyes roll back into the prettiest expression and he shakes. funnily enough he complains less once u start to overstim him bc at that point his head goes blank, he’s the definition of fucked out. he enjoys every bit of the pleasure and pain with his jaw going slack and his body jolting so cutely. he can’t even think of anything clever to say let alone form a sentence, just moan after angelic moan
binnie - simultaneously the goodest and the whiniest boy on earth! he wants to be able to take it, to make you proud w how well he endures both the torturous rounds of edging and the overstimulation after, but he'll inevitably be whining up a storm the entire time. it’s embarrassing how he loses control of his body, bucking into into the air and letting pitiful little whimpers slip past his lips when the buildup of pleasure is lost yet again. he can’t help but make a few wrong moves out of reflex, like trying to gain friction to push himself over the edge or reaching for your hand with a whine when you pull away, but he immediately apologizes for it bc he really doesn’t mean to disobey you. you'd have to praise him through it all so he has the drive to keep going. he needs to hear those “good boy”s every time he’s left twitching without release, and he especially needs to hear you telling him how well he’s taking it once the overstim kicks in. tell him how pretty he looks, how beautiful he sounds, and he'll feel his chest swell with pride even as you stroke him until his dick is sore. his voice gets so sweet and high-pitched as he begs you to slow down, but he can take it all as long as your adoring words soothe him through it
hyunjin - how he handles edging depends on his mood that day. jinnie can either be the sweetest, most pliant baby boy or a little bit of a spoiled brat if he want to be put in his place. some days he’s so desperate for you that he’s grateful you’re even touching him at all, even when he feels his sanity slip more and more each time his orgasm is delayed. he moans out the prettiest, breathless “thank you” as his body squirms around in a frantic search of some relief. other days, he’s rolling his eyes, huffing, scoffing, whining, and grinding against the mattress when he doesn’t get what he wants. it gets harder for him to talk back the more you edge him though, his taunts morph into slurred, nonsense whimpers bc the only thing on his mind is how badly he needs to cum, he can’t find it in him to provoke you anymore. he definitely gets teary-eyed once he breaks and realizes you still have no intention of going easy on him. but regardless of if he’s being a brat or a good boy that day, he always loves the overstimulation. he writhes so beautifully in the sheets, arching his back and tossing his head around, you'd think he was trying to escape the pleasure but his cries for more say otherwise. he begs you to keep going even as his tears spill over, and once you're done with him he flashes you the cutest, blissed out lazy smile with his chest heaving and drool spilling from his lips
jisung - hannie starts off just happy that you're touching him esp if it's on a day where he was acting out for your attention, and he always naively thinks he's won once you get your hands on him. he's the easiest to break of all the boys, so it makes it extra fun to see how he reacts when you pull away right before he cums and he realizes what you're planning to do with him. his eyes get so wide and he immediately starts to whine, stutter out apologies and beg for you to take pity on him, he has absolutely no shame abt it. he keeps promising he'll do anything you say if you just let him cum, he'll obey you like a good boy!! if him whimpering "please, i can't take it ): i really can't take it anymore ):” with that irresistible pout doesn't sway you, then eventually he starts to tear up from frustration. he cries so sweetly bc it feels so good but it's not enough, he’s completely helpless and doesn’t know what to do w himself. he’s sensitive enough to accidentally cum even after you’ve pulled away, too, so you have to be careful not to push him too close to the edge. once you finally let him cum he just sobs even harder, bc now suddenly the pleasure he begged for is way too much. he moves around like crazy when the overstimulation kicks in, he's another one you might have to tie up just to contain his thrashing
felix - he loves this combination! it’s hardly a punishment at all for him, in fact, most of the time he’ll be the one asking you with the most innocent look on his face if you'll edge him until he's too far gone to even keep count anymore, then overstim him until he can’t remember his own name. he’s a good boy but his endurance isn’t the best. the repeated denial can get hard for him to take, but it's the overstimulation that he really wants, so he tries his best to power through without complaints bc his favorite part is what comes after. it makes lixie’s brain positively melt to have the promise of his orgasm dangled over his head for as long as you see fit, feel his high ebb and flow until he thinks he'll actually go crazy, and then feel it explode all at once in a slew of pleasure. he loves how dependent it makes him on you too, like he can trust you to decide what’s best for him, right down to whether or not he’s allowed feel good. he might break out into cute, desperate giggles when he really feels himself start to reach his limit bc he’s just so overwhelmed by the intensity of his orgasm when he finally climaxed and how it keeps amplifying the more you overstim him. he’s so grateful when he finally gets to cum, he’d definitely be babbling out “thank you”s over and over until it’s the only thing he knows how to say anymore bc the poor baby’s brain has gone haywire
seungmin - you will not find a more obedient or disciplined sub than kim seungmin (when he wants to be ofc…he’s very patient but that can be a double-edged sword in when he’s in the mood to be a brat) when he’s being a good boy he handles it like a champ! he wants to please you, and on top of that he actually has the self-control to tolerate being edged more than just a few times before he crumbles and starts whining. he enjoys taking things slow anyway, so he relishes in how you drag out his pleasure for longer than even he can imagine, it’s almost relaxing for him, to repeatedly stop right before he tips over the edge then hear your soothing voice murmur “good boy, just a few more, alright?” he’ll start to get breathless and pant harder and harder the longer it goes on, but even when his hair is sticky w sweat and his dick is practically glazed with all his precum, he bites his lip and powers through for you. the sight of overstimulated seungmo is so satisfying to watch. after what could be over an hour of you toying with his body with no relief, he unravels so beautifully when you finally let him cum and the pleasure he was dying for suddenly goes from not enough to too much all at once. it’s one of the few times you’ll ever really hear him get loud, his voice sounds so angelic ringing out in a helpless, sweet wail begging you to slow down. he definitely can’t handle the overstim as well as the edging but it’s a sight to die for
jeongin - he's like a combination of minho and chan; he doesn't have a lot of patience for edging, but he really wants to be able to do well for you. it makes things hard for poor innie bc on top of the ache that builds in his abdomen each time you edge him, he's also fighting an internal battle with himself trying to bite back the groans and pleas forming on his tongue. he’s another one who tends to squirm a lot and gasp out when you pull away at the last second, no matter how embarrassed he gets over his reactions he has a hard time controlling himself enough to stop, so he’ll be apologizing breathlessly through it all. he might also be prone to accidentally cumming even once you’ve stopped/slowed down. he gets worked up super fast so sometimes he surprises you w how quickly he reaches the brink of his climax again, but he always does his best to warn you before it happens. there’s only so much he can take before his desperation overpowers his desire to be good, though. he’ll start to get whinier and whinier the more you edge him (thinking of when he kept messing up at halli galli in that one live and started wailing “ah why? why? why?”smth like that hehe) he’s so so grateful when you finally let him finish, and he lets you know with the cutest choked moan how relieved he is. it feels amazing for the first few seconds, but it doesn’t take long for him to start twisting his hips wildly again once the overstim kicks in, this time, to escape the feeling rather than beg for more. he grits his teeth and hisses a lot, nodding frantically when you ask him if he can take more, no matter how much it aches. he definitely ends up a lil teary-eyed by the end of it too <3

have you done elder faerie and dark cacao…
Tumblr media
So I ended up getting on this because I saw an announcement for an eldercacao week, but it also means I got through this design, so here we are with Silver Clay Cookie
So Silver Clay here is supposed to be a weaponsmith, though she specializes in silver weapons. She's got a noticeable amount of silver in her dough, and it makes her have a particular attunement to metal, as well as being able to shape it out of clay. It makes her pretty important around the Faerie Kingdom
She's also a bit of a germophobe, and hates stains. They don't really get on her, but she's got a bit of a compulsive need to get rid of germs and such when she sees them. She also instinctively does not like the yeast creatures around the Faeriewood, for the same reasons (it's because silver is antibacterial)
She generally lives in the Faerie Kingdom, and is expected to take up the mantle of Guardian if something ever happens to Elder Faerie. She does visit the Dark Cacao Kingdom, but not often with the Licorice Sea being a barrier. The metal powers make her more important to the Faeries than the Dark Cacao Kingdom
She has a tendency to be rather high strung, and has inherited some of her father's (Dark Cacao's) traits of not really letting loose and relaxing. If you see her at a party outside of the start of it, it's because someone's keeping her there or because she's multitasking. It makes her odd among the Faeries, but she doesn't pay it much mind in favor of more work
She also doesn't really have wings, due to only being half Faerie. She says it doesn't bother her, but it always kind of has, at least in the back of her mind. She wonders if things would be better if she grew up and lived in the Dark Cacao Kingdom, but she usually shakes it off as it doesn't really matter, she's living in the Faerie Kingdom
Where she stands post Beast Yeast Episode 2, I don't really know. I haven't put much thought into where she fits in the timeline, since I don't know when Elder Faerie and Dark Cacao would have hypothetically met. That's also why there's no mention of Dark Choco here either
I don't think I have much else to say on her, so let's move on to design things
So I actually didn't spend much time on picking a name. Her name's Silver Clay because silver is associated with the Faerie Cookies, and I know someone used it in a chocolate knife once. Silver Choco was also a consideration, but I went against it because I feel like I give too many Cacao kids the name "Choco". That's about it
I probably could have come up with a better name if I had spent more time on it, but I didn't, so
Silver clay (idk I couldn't find a good picture of the clay itself):
Tumblr media
To be honest, I don't really know what to put here
Her design's me trying to mix Elder Faerie and Dark Cacao design elements. Though I do also feel like she ended up being too plain at the end
I mean she is supposed to be a weaponsmith, with that being her primary role outside of her princess status, so I guess it works? But also I still feel like she's plain looking. Maybe she needs an alternate outfit
I'm gonna be honest, my main takeaway from Silver Clay is that she's underbaked. I did not spend much time at all fleshing out her concept, or in general the concept of an eldercacao kid. I didn't really even have a name and I went with the first idea that popped into my head. She has not been marinating
I feel like I feel this way with a lot of recent fankids. I guess I really don't have as much time to think about them as I did before, but in general I feel like I haven't been putting as much thought into them. And their designs just come out okay to me. But maybe I'm just being too hard on myself?
It doesn't really help that if I do wait, I get even more backup than I already do. Like, the 100+ unfinished requests will never be done. And even at this rate, it'll be forever until I finish one. This person's lucky I happened to have something force me to do this request
But yeah, I don't know. I guess Silver Clay isn't terrible, but she's undercooked in my opinion. I feel like I could have done better
But I hope you at least enjoy her

Period Relief for Littles:
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
Something I don't see talked about is period relief for age regressors, so I decided to write what helps me. Hopefully, this will help you too!
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
Raspberry Leaf Tea:
Tumblr media
I have really bad cramps and I've found this helps a lot. It's a nice warm drink, which I find soothing. It doesn't taste like raspberries, unfortunately, but I do like the taste.
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
Mint Tea:
Tumblr media
This helps my nausea and once again, it's a warm drink I find soothing. It helps my nausea and makes it so I don't have to take as many meds.
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
Fluids:
Tumblr media
Keeping your fluids up is very important because it helps reduce many of the symptoms and clots. Avoid anything that is a diuretic (it'll make you pee more) and try to drink some things with electrolytes in it. I personally like liquid IV for the electrolytes, but Gatorade and other such drinks works too!
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
McDonald's Chocolate Shake & Fries:
Tumblr media
Okay, so this one isn't necessarily helpful. I just get cravings for salt and magnesium, so this helps knock those cravings out. Plus, it's a nice treat that I don't get very often.
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
Heating Pad:
Tumblr media
When my tummy hurts really bad, I pull out my heating pad and cuddle up with it. Sometimes I'll put a stuffy against the heating pad to help hold it in place. As an added bonus, the stuffy gives me something to cuddle!
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
Ice pack:
Tumblr media
When I'm swollen or bloated I like to use an ice pack because the cold helps reduce the swelling. Make sure to wrap it in a towel or pillowcase because cold right against your skin isn't good! I personally like to wrap it in a baby blanket because the material is soft and calming to me.
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
Oil in a Diffuser:
Tumblr media
Eucalyptus and peppermint help with the headaches I get and makes me feel less cranky.
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
White Flower Oil:
Tumblr media
I like to rub this on my temples because it also helps relieve my headaches. However, if you're sensitive to smells or have bad allergies, I suggest not to use it.
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
Meds:
Tumblr media
Mydol or Pamrin are my go-to meds. They help relive bloating, headaches, and cramps. Please, please be careful while taking these because they do have asprin in them, which is a blood thinner, and the caffeine in them might make a headache worse if you take too much.
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
Shower & Bath:
Tumblr media
I always feel really icky during my period, so I take lots of showers and baths. It helps with my body pain, cramps, and makes me feel more clean.
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
Comfort:
Tumblr media
🌸 Having comfort during a period is super important, especially if you experience mood swings or if you go regress.
🌸 Having someone you trust comfort and reassure you is very helpful.
🌸 I personally like cuddles, so my friend or CG will hold me. If they aren't around, I make a nest out of my pillows and stuffies.
🌸 Your favorite regression things are immensely important too. If you're upset while in littlespace because you hurt, having your favorite stuffies, sippy, paci, etc. will help give you comfort and give you something to help feel better.
☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆*:.。.。.:*☆
I help this helps you feel better. Best wishes and hugs if you want them!

Things you said through someone else -- steddie! For the ask thingy 😄💛
(This is so old but I finally have the energy and the idea for it, so here we go!)
Steve cheers every time it starts raining. He's not a fan of getting rained on, and lightning makes him uneasy after a few too many trips to the Upside Down, but rain means people stay inside, and when people stay inside, they're not at Family Video.
It is dead, and it is glorious.
Robin amuses herself by stacking as many tapes as she can on the front counter. She's up to twenty seven and has climbed onto the counter to keep the tower going. Steve occasionally blows on it , just to see the tower shake and laugh as Robin frantically tries to stabilize it.
He bets she'll make it to thirty six before it falls. There's no way she'll make it all the way to the ceiling.
While Robin stacks the tapes, Steve relays the story Dustin told him, in typical dramatic Dustin fashion, about Eddie cancelling Hellfire last night in favor of going to see a local band they really like at a bar a few towns over. He's almost at the point where he has to do an impression of Dustin doing an impression of Eddie, which is as ridiculous as it sounds, when the bell on the front door rings.
Rather than groan aloud, Steve and Robin send each other matching help me looks.
Robin hops down from the counter but makes no move to dismantle her teetering tower of tapes. Steve looks around them to see Eddie and the guys from his band walking in and brushing the rain off their jackets.
"Hey guys," he says because he knows them, he's been to a few band practices. "What's up?"
Eddie beams at the sound of Steve's voice and waves very dramatically, but he doesn't say anything. Instead, he writes something down in red crayon on what has to be an absolutely drenched notepad. He passes it to Gareth, who rolls his eyes.
"Eddie lost his voice last night at the show, but that didn't stop him from dragging us here," he says. His own voice is scratchy, and Eddie elbows him for his dead tone.
Robin rolls her eyes, amused.
"Okay, but why come here?" Steve says. "If you're not feeling well-"
Jeff pokes Eddie. "Come on. You're the one who dragged us here because you can't talk."
"Well, all of us didn't need to be here," Archie adds.
"All of us have to witness this," Jeff says, and Archie nods, satisfied.
Eddie waves his hands frantically in an unmistakable stop talking gesture before he keeps writing on his notepad.
Steve tries valiantly not to laugh. One look at Robin's matching expression of these guys are ridiculous ruins it instantly.
Eddie makes eye contact with him, and Steve watches as he turns bright red as he keeps writing.
That totally doesn't do anything to Steve. Nope. Not at all. Because he totally didn't realize that he might not have completely heterosexual feelings for Eddie as of... last week.
Okay, they've been around for longer, a lot longer, but Steve wasn't able to catch on to that until very recently.
Other people's emotions? Easy, very clear. His own? No thank you.
Eddie tears off the top sheet of the notepad and hands it to Gareth.
"Jesus, Eddie, I can't read this," he says, and he passes it to Archie.
He takes it, squints, and says, "I refuse to read this."
Steve has never seen Eddie look more embarrassed. It shouldn't be as cute as it is.
Jeff snatches the note out of Archie's hand, and reads, out loud, "I was out last night and all I could think of was how much better of a time I would have had if you were there. Date, Saturday, 7:00, I'll pick you up, yes/no?"
Everyone freezes. Gareth and Archie stare at Eddie incredulously, Jeff holds the note far away from him, like it'll give him cooties, Eddie has his head in both of his hands, Robin looks one stiff breeze away from a laughing fit, and Steve-
Wait. Eddie feels the same way?
And then Robin's tape tower clatters to the floor, breaking the silence.
"Eddie, that's some middle school shi-"
"Damn, okay, guess we weren't enough fun for you, I'm joking, I promise-"
"Oh my god you couldn't even wait-"
"Yeah," Steve says.
Everyone stops and looks at him. Eddie takes his head out of his hands, big eyes hopeful.
"It's a date," Steve says. "But I'm driving, maniac."
Eddie's smile is blinding, and then, all at once, his friends pile on him.
"Let's go!" Jeff yells.
"I can't believe that shit work- ouch, Archie."
Robin laughs with them and gives Steve a hug of her own.
"You're never letting him live this down, are you?" she whispers.
"Absolutely not," Steve says.
"Alright, get out of here!" Robin says when she pulls back. "Get some vocal rest and find someplace dry that isn't here. You'll attract customers if you stay, and God knows we don't want that."
The guys laugh, high-fiving Steve and Robin on the way out.
Eddie is the last to leave. Steve can tell he wants to talk, can see how he opens his mouth before he remembers that no sound will come out.
"See you Saturday," he says for him.
Eddie nods and leaves when Archie yells at him to unlock the van.
Steve watches them pull out of the lot as Robin starts reassembling her tape stack.
When a car pulls into the lot and out comes a mother and her two kids who will definitely take every tape off the shelf and definitely ask too many questions and actually will make them work, Steve and Robin look at each other and say, in unison:
"Goddammit."
There are some people even the rain won't stop.
Though, Steve supposes as the bell on the front door rings, maybe that's a good thing.
Prompts here.

New friends on Halloween
It just needed something to eat...but it'll happily take new friends too~
Alone.
It was realizing that it hated that word, and this feeling.
It trouted out of their-...its cave at 5:55pm, claws shaking slightly, an awful gnawing at its center and the slash across its side wasn’t making it feel any better. At least the costume was doing its purpose, keeping the stinging wound protected from outside invasion and helping in the regeneration process, but the costume alone wasn’t enough.
It needed something, someone, anything to eat- it’s been too long since it gotten this stupid injury, too long since winfrey was taken from it, and far too long since it's even eaten an animal-
It was starving…in more than just the physical sense.
Its eyes still felt raw after all the crying was done- it hates crying, it hates feeling so incomplete…
It stopped at the edge of the tree line, hidden by the dense leaves of a bush and watched, blinking heavily and tail raised in confusion.
Had it gotten the time wrong? The sun was down, it was dark, but yet there were still so many humans out and about. It was a lot of the little humans too, and they were wearing…costumes? Since when did humans wear costumes???
It hesitated at first, glanced back the way it came, but the growl that raced from it made it look back to the oddity happening on the street. It just needed One human, one good sized meal, and then it could flee and heal.
It stepped out of the bush, straightened its back, and began walking about. It waited for screaming, for panic….but all it got was the occasional glance, and one human smiled at it.
“Dude, love the costume!” it blinked, tail twitched, and before it could respond that tall yet not mature- teenager?-teenagers- humans had walked off, laughing alongside each other. Did….were they not able to tell? They did smell weird, an awful fermented smell, so not good prey-it could not afford to get sick.
It walked a little bit longer, glancing around, sticking to the side of the street with less houses and less lights- awful bright things they are- and looked for someone separated, someone else Alone.
It tried not to focus on the fact that so many of these humans had a pair, tried not to tear up and blinked away the stinging in its eyes. Now is not the time-
“C’mon John!! Just a little higher, I can almost reach it!!” It blinked, glanced toward the darkened yard and crouched, claws digging into the damp grass as it snuck closer. That voice was little, and upset, and sounded tired. It peaked around the side of the…what do humans call these mini buildings again? Shed- yes, shed, it peaked around the side of this shed, all covered in pumpkin stickers and….broken eggs? It resisted the urge to lick them off, maybe later.
And standing before it, on top of each other's shoulders, were two little ones. Little boys, one dressed up in a brown hat and vest with boots that were too big and the other had his costume of white sheets and see through lace hung around his shoulders as he lifted the other up. The little cowboy was reaching up, hand outstretched and balance unsteady, grasping at a small orange and yellow bucket above them. Both their faces were red- they’ve been crying recently too- and teeth gritted.
“Jason I can’t get any higher!!” “Well we have to get Ashley’s basket! We promised!” The little cowboy- Jason- shifted and reached a little bit closer while on his tiptoes-
Clyde didn’t have time to process what happened, one second it watched them, the next it stood next to them, Jason wrapped up in its tail upside down and both little ones staring at it in surprise. It blinked, letting the actions make sense in its mind- John had lost his grip, Jason had slipped, a fall from even that small of a height would have broken his neck, instinct had overtaken thought- and smiled slightly as it set him down.
“....Um- Thanks.” Jason coughed, cheeks tinted red and glanced away, rubbing the back of his head. It hesitated to speak…but smiled. “WeLcOmE.” It was raspy, and not human like, and it waited for them to run…but it blinked at the sympathetic looks.
“You got that bug too?” John chuckled. “My brother and dad both got it and they sound just as raspy as you.”
Bug- cold, illness. It hesitated, glancing away before nodding. It looked up at the tree, at the little basket in it, and pointed at it and tilted its head. “WhY?” “Oh- Some buttheads bully older kids!” Jason stomped his feet. “They got mad that we saw them egging Miss Camper’s house and when we said we’d tell her, they threw Ashley’s basket up there.” John sighed. “We’ve been trying to get it down for her so she could trick or treat with us…”
Well that is just rude. It glared slightly at the story-tail thrashed against the ground in shared frustration and moved over to the tree. The children made questioning sounds as it grabbed onto the rough wood-this tree was old, and sick, and if it had to guess it wouldn't be here come next year- and raised itself up. Those two didn’t have claws, they weren’t made to climb trees- it was. Up and up, spiral around that branch, knock down that old plastic toy with its tail, and onto the branch. Its tail hooked around the fabric handle of the little plastic pumpkin, and lowered the prize down the onlooking children- whose eyes seemed to sparkle in amazement. Once Jason took it, it dropped itself from the branch- the ground made a quiet squelch sound as it landed hard onto the damp grass, and looked down at the two. It smiled. “ThErE.” “That was Amazing!!!” John raised his arms up and bounced. “Oh you HAVE to teach me how to climb trees like that!!!”
It blinked and snickered, tail swinging in amusement, then blinked as a glove covered hand took hold of one of it’s fingers.
“C’mon, let’s go find Ashley!” Jason beamed and began to move. It could have pulled away- or it could have pulled this one closer, its inside gurgled angrily at the lack of substance within…but it followed, tail curled, head tilted. It was…nice, to have this little bit of company right now. It waited a few weeks for its wound to heal enough to move, it can wait until they find Ashley.
“Oh, my name is John by the way!” John, now confirmed to be the little boy in the ghost costume, smiled up at it. “That’s Jason.” “Yuuup!” It smiled at those silly little ones… “...ClYdE.” “Nice to meet cha, clyde!” It squinted its eyes happily at that, tail swinging a little faster. It had to wonder why they hadn't noticed it wasn’t human yet…but then again, some of the costumes it is seeing as the trio walks down the path looked pretty similar to it.
“....WhY CoStUmEs?” “....It’s halloween.” John smiled at it, and then blinked at it when it tilted its head. “.....You…do know what halloween is, right?” The small gasp that came from him when it shook its head brought a grin to its face and a quiet snicker. “Dude- Halloween is like- The best time of the year!!! You get to dress up, you get to see all the cool spooky stuff, you get to trick or treat and get free candy!!!” John shakes his arms up and down to add to his point, and Clyde couldn’t help but snicker a little louder at the action. “Jason we have to let Clyde trick or treat with us, this is an outrage.” “Yeah- Ashley!!” Jason let go of its finger and raced forward into a small crowd. It hesitated, tail stopping dead mid swing, breath held- and then released as the small cowboy returned, a little girl in tow. She wore a puffy dress that sparkled and a small gold crown on her head, her eyes were puffy and red and she held a small wand alongside her returned basket. She was smiling, tears in her eyes as the two came over. “This is Clyde, they got it down!” Jason made a small gesture to it, and Ashley looked up at it- and then slammed into its leg, arms wrapped around it.
It froze, the entire body went stiff, tail raised….and it knelt down and patted her back. Careful to not touch exposed skin, thank Six she had long sleeves, and a quiet rumble came from it. “T-Thank you so much.” She sniffled out, looking up at it with tear filled eyes but a large grin before stepping back and rubbing her eyes. Jason held onto her and wiggled side to side, and John sighed and poked her. “We’ll tell Miss Camper about the egging tomorrow, for now let's have fun for the rest of the night with our new friend!”
It blinked, looking down at the three little ones. “....FrIeNd?” “Well- yeah!! You helped get her basket and you’re cool!” John beamed at it, and it blinked a few more times.
Friend…friend is like partner, friend is companion…friend is someone to spend time with and enjoy, and to hunt and play and sleep-
But these are humans- these are little lives that will fade in the time it takes to blink, and can be snuffed out even faster. Human are prey, it was predator…but humans were also sentient, also had small souls-
It held onto sentience and souls within-
Its stomach growled, its pupils dilated- and it smiled wide.
“FrIeNdS!” it wrapped up all three into its arms and rose to its full height, moving them side to side as it turned on its heels and walked back toward the darker side of town. It didn’t want a crowd to see this, this was just for it and its new friends. The three of them let out startled, then excited and giggling sounds. It curled them up, particular to keep a good grip on the wiggling things, and particular to see how Big they were….
It could fit all three of them in whole, Combined they were barely the size of its torso. It rumbled as it kept walking, and John stopped wiggling and looked around. “Um…..Clyde?” “Hm?” “Where are we going?” It giggled. “....TrEaT.” “...Oh, you know a good house or something?” “SoMeThInG.” There, nice and quiet and dark- a few lights but for the most part, isolated.
Perfect. They were looking around, pointing at the houses with lights on, wondering which of these houses were its special treat spot- None of them noticed it open its mouth. It wouldn’t chew, its teeth were sharp, that would hurt and it didn’t want to hurt its little pals…. John had glanced up- and didn’t even get to yell. One. Ashley had gone to a door, banging on it, but it scooped her up before the door opened. Two.
It was surprised by how fast Jason was with those oversized boots, but it caught up just as fast. Three. In the distant, it could hear people raising their voices, calling out little names.
-
It couldn’t stop purring as it slinked around the edges of town, its claw resting on its chest. They were trying to get comfortable, shifting and squirming, muffled sounds and voices. It felt so warm… It should likely return to its home, to rest- but it wanted to keep experiencing this “Halloween”, it wanted to keep going- just for a little while longer. Maybe it’ll find itself more little treats. More little friends. They were warm, and soon to be its friends forever more- but they were quite small. It could fit a couple more within-
Something latched onto its leg, and it jerked. Eyes looking downward, it blinked. A small boy, sniffling and rubbing his eyes. “I’m sorry…” The little boy sniffled. “I did the one thing you told me not to do and I lost them…” It blinked… and ruffled their hair slightly. The boy sniffled- and then yawned. “I wanna go home, Alex…” He yawned, arms wrapped further around its leg and face pressed in a little. “.....I’m sleepy and I'm upset.”
It smiled and reached down, claws hooked under little arms and lifted him up. He certainly did seem sleepy, eyes squinted and mostly shut, slightly bags under them. This little guy needed a nap…
Surely he wouldn’t mind joining this little friendship, he seems like such a sweet kid- and it’d be so wrong to leave someone alone when they asked for help. It smiled, large and bright for him.
“Night Nighy~” Ah, it’s voice sounds so much better with its three little friends added to it, less like it had an awful cold. He squinted and paled. “You’re not Ale-” Four. It stood there, a purr racing from it and tail swinging in glee, another warm weight tucked within, another new friend for it to keep. “.........L-Lewis….?” It froze, and looked over its shoulder. Two boys, pale as the moon above, one holding a trembling flashlight in their hand and the other had dropped his basket, hands covering his mouth. Tears in their eyes, faces filled with dread.
Ah ...They must be friends with the sleepy one… The air was silent as they stared at one another, the two boys frozen in place…And Clyde grinned brightly, teeth shown and mouth open slightly. Well, 6 Was its favorite number and it would be so wrong to separate such a cute little group of friends…
“.....Norman.” The one with the flashlight whispered as it turned fully to face them, taking a slow step forward. “.....Y-yeah Sam?” “Run.”
Oh how fun, they’re playing Tag. Clyde has to guess that it is It.
It Loves this game!
It caught Sam first, the boy was a slow runner, limping on his left leg and he seemed to know it. He had turned and grabbed onto it- and he went down screaming the whole time.
Five.
It slowed as it approached the tree, the sounds of panicked breath badly muffled behind hands. It grinned and lowered itself, the grass had dried, its tail slamming across the sidewalk so that the boy would look in the other direction…
His yelp of surprise when it tapped his shoulder had made him taste all the sweeter.
Six.
By now, the night wasn’t quiet, shrieks and yelling of little names and worried cries filled the air, but it didn’t mind. Afterall, it had its fill and it had its friends, it was as good as any time to return to the cave- “I wanna go home” A muffled voice echoed from it, and it purred and wrapped its arms around itself, nuzzling itself with glee.
“Don’t worry, we’re going home now~” It purred, and entered the tree line at 7pm.

Billy Hargrove x Reader
MASTERLIST
NIGHTMARE
Warning : nothing... I guess.
WC; 1k
#TALKISSA; Maybe it's like, Billy survived the Starcourt incident, he had a lot of nightmares after that incident and you were always beside him to calm him down.
Tumblr media
Ever since the incident at Starcourt Billy couldn't stop having nightmares. After he underwent some kind of therapy the doctor said that he was post-traumatic, Billy didn't talk much and he really wasn't the Billy The Asshole that Max knew. This made you worried, the host transfer happened suddenly to Heather Holloway, you didn't know the rest of the story but you were worried about Billy's changes.
Max was a little surprised but nothing serious since she told you she had it once last year. What you're worried about is Billy.
You had no one in Hawkins because both of your parents had died, so you lived at the Mayfield or Hargrove residences. Apart from accompanying Billy and helping him through his therapy— Billy's father, Neil, didn't seem upset, perhaps because Billy's quiet attitude made him look like he was obeying his father's rules so Neil didn't interfere too much in the matter.
And now you wake up in the night,
02:00 A.M
You turned to your side where Billy was already sweating all over his face, he was pronouncing words that you couldn't digest properly and his whole body was shaking. You really don't know what to do since Doctor Kelly— Billy's therapist didn't mention anything about this.
So, you decided to gently touch his chest to wake him up, you knew he was having a nightmare again,
"Billy," you called softly while stroking his chest.
He didn't wake up, making you move your body closer to him and caress his sweaty face, "Billy, wake up."
"Billy—"
Your words were cut off by Billy's irregular breathing, he suddenly woke up, surprising you because of his aggressive reaction when he got out of bed.
"Hey, hey, it's just me." You said gently stroking his back and tucking his curly hair behind his ear, "It's okay. It was just a bad dream, we know it's not real, Billy. You've been through it, you've almost been through it all. Everything will be fine, you'll be fine and I—"
Billy immediately hugged you, buried his head on your shoulder and he started crying because you felt the wet water on the shoulder of your shirt. You just stay silent, of course he had nightmares many times, but he was never like this, he would just smile faintly and say that he was okay then you both went back to sleep.
But this time? This is something different.
You put your hands around his neck and gently stroked the rest of his hair that was hanging around his neck.
"It's okay. It'll be okay. I'm sorry."
Sorry. That's all you can say because he had to go through something this horrible. Seeing him like this... It will only make your heart split into several parts. He always makes you happy in his own way, maybe from his efforts that will get a doll in the toy park that you want, and he will study diligently so he can go to the same university as you. But you are not sure whether your affection for him can be felt by him.
You keep stroking his hair,
The sound of the door creaking, you looked to see who it was, and only found Max with a worried look on her face, you nodded to tell her that everything was fine.
Not long after, you take Billy into the kitchen for a glass of water to win him over.
As soon as he gulped down the water, you continued to look at him, waiting for him to tell you what made him cry so hard.
"I'm sorry."
You grabbed his hand, "For what?"
"Your clothes are wet because of me."
You smiled slightly and stood in front of him to stroke his hair and kiss his forehead, "There's nothing to apologize for."
Billy locked you between his legs, wrapped his arms around your waist and buried his head in your chest. You continued running your fingers through his hair, he once said that what you did to his hair made him relax for a moment. Accompanied by the lullaby that your mother used to sing when you were little, there is nothing more soothing than your melodious voice to his ears.
"I had a nightmare." Billy said then looked up to look at you. You nodded, "Mhm, are you ready to tell me about them?"
"It's about you."
You nodded and paid close attention to his words,
"Instead of Heather being stabbed by that big giant monster, it's you. I was there and couldn't do anything watching you slowly being swallowed by that monster. That voice kept coming back to me, saying I wasn't completely free from it and it would continue after you until its really gets you." Billy said, followed by him taking a breath, you continued to calm him by stroking his back, "I'm scared. I'm scared of losing you, I don't want to lose you, I can't."
"Sshhh," You shook your head and cupped his cheeks, "You won't lose me, you won't lose anyone. Remember what Doctor Kelly said? They're just traces left behind. You'll be fine, I'll be fine. I'll stay by your side as long as you need me, Billy."
"I will always need you."
You chuckled, "I'm glad you're starting to open up about your dreams. Can we do them more often? It'll make things better for you. How does that sound?"
Billy nodded, "I like it."
"Good. Want to go back to bed?"
Billy nodded again.
After that, Billy and you went back to his room to continue sleeping. Billy didn't let you escape from his grasp, he buried you in his chest so you couldn't go anywhere, or more precisely, no one could take you from him. Since right now you are the safest place he has, he will protect you under any circumstances. Even though he should be the one who needs to be protected.
His life is filled with the fragility he experiences, he feels like he is not alive, and only you are able to make him feel alive and feel like he is being treated properly. He loves you with all the strengths and weaknesses that you have— even though he himself is not sure that you have any weaknesses.

The drive to your team welcoming at the winery made 45 minutes of highway feel simultaneously far too long yet excruciatingly short.
After what happened in the corridor, you really didn't have much to say. The only words really spoken between you and Steve was you thanking him for getting the car door for you, then him insisting that you played your music.
After a few minutes on the road, Steve stole a few quick glances at you to try and gauge how you were really feeling, but your head was leaned all the way back against the headrest, and your eyes were always either closed or staring absentmindedly on the scenery around you.
He took no offense, in fact, he was glad that you were calm at the very least. Deep down he knew you were always feeling at least a little worse- if not a lot worse than you expressed to anyone. But like always, there was a time and place to address issues. Pulling into a parking spot at the winery and putting his car into park was not the time, nor the place.
Taking a quick peek through his rearview mirror, he could see a few special guests had already arrived, and he could only hope it would help ease the distress you never deserved to have inflicted on you.
Steve turned to you with an empathetic grin tugging at the corners of his lips. "Last chance to run away?"
You turned your head to look at him with a lazy smile, and an unexpected giggle. "I can't run in these shoes."
"If it gets too overwhelming, you know I'll be here. Just tell me, I'll sneak you away for a bit of fresh air." He reminded you.
"You're making me feel like I'm about to be eaten alive" You raised your eyebrow.
Steve shook his head. "No, you're not. I've been on this team for so many years I stopped counting and even I still get overwhelmed by all of them sometimes. Things like this can be a lot even on a perfectly good day."
"I'm guessing I'll relax after a glass of wine or two" You reassured him and yourself. "It'll be like nothing ever happened, nobody even has to know."
That sent red flags raising high in Steve's head. Now he knew for sure you were in worse shape than you were letting on.
"Bug," Steve shot you a serious glare. "You can be sad, it's okay to be sad."
"I'll be sad later." You surrendered. "Right now I'm so happy and honored to be part of such a welcoming and supportive team. We're all going to have a wonderful night, and everything is going to be fine."
"Promise me right now that after this is over you'll cut the bullshit and stop telling me you're fine." Steve held out his pinky to you. All you did was narrow your eyes at him, you knew he could read you like a book far below his intelligence level, and it was equal parts endearing and frustrating. "We both know that's a lie, and we both know there's no reason for you to have to go through any of this alone anymore. We both know this is the beginning of the end of all of your suffering, and should it get worse before it gets better, you have a whole team of people who want to help you and be there for you."
"Fine." With an internal defeat, you wrapped your pinky around his. "I'll be sad later, but only if you get me a glass of wine while I socialize so I don't seem like a bitch for booking it to the bar."
"Great" Steve smiled, shaking your intertwined pinky fingers, locking in the deal. "Pleasure doing business with you."
"This is the worst deal ever." You shook your head with a smile on your face while reaching for the car door handle.
An immediate gasp full of personal offense left Steve faster than you anticipated, and you got ready for the fight you two had nearly every time you got into a car together. "Do not reach for that car door ma'am."
"Twinkles, I have two fully functioning arms and legs. I can open my own car door." You made the same argument you've made a million times before.
"Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." Steve shook his head at you, his face full of disappointment. "Stay right there before I put the child safety lock on the passenger side of the door."
"Logistically, it'll take more time for you to get out, walk around, open my door, wait for me to get out, then close my door than if I were to just get out on my own." You laughed.
“Yeah well, logistically, this reoccurring argument takes a lot of time as well yet you always seem to want to spark it." Steve spoke as he got out of the car, his door closing behind him. Very quickly making his way to you, he opened your door and offered you his arm to help you out. "See, didn't take that long. Look, this is an unpaved parking lot and you're wearing a pretty high heel which means you could've tripped and fallen and broken an ankle, and it would've been all my fault."
"How could you possibly sleep at night?!" You agreed sarcastically as you got out of the car, and he closed the door behind you.
"I never do." Steve noted. "This is why I have insomnia."
"Too many women and too many unpaved parking lots in this world." You agreed, walking with him towards the entrance. "We really need to contact someone about this."
It didn't take long to enter the beautiful outdoor space that was far too big to be reserved just for the team. You immediately felt like you were the main character of a hallmark movie, strings of twinkling lights shined above your head, the grounds were well maintained, full of plants, tables, and even a dreamy gazebo that was also illuminated by strings of lights.
There were candles lit along pathways and atop the standing tables, booths open that served food, and no less than 20 different wine options, and a whole bunch of friendly faces that all started clapping and cheering when you walked in.
Definitely not expecting that much immediate   attention, your cheeks widened into a smile and deepened in color before your hands moved up to hide your face. It only took a few moments before you were brave enough to peak through your fingers to recognize faces you didn't quite expect to be there.
All you expected were the avengers that lived in the compound or near by, but to see faces like Thor, Clint, and even that Spider-Kid who definitely was not 21 and was out passed his bedtime was a pleasant surprise.
Another pleasant surprise was the sweet faces of your mom and dad, sister and brother in law, and a handful of your friends from back home.
Your hands dropped from your face and showed off your full toothy smile and pink cheeks that Steve loved so much it made his heart skip a beat.
It nearly dropped out of his chest and deep into his stomach when you turned to him. "Did you invite them?"
"Of course I did" Steve nodded with a cheeky smile. "I wanted you to feel more comfortable, and you deserve to be celebrated by your family too, not just ours."
Much like earlier in the day when he gave you the suit, your arms flew around him fast and tight. It was shorter this time due to the audience, but Steve still loved it nonetheless. "Thank you so much, you're so sweet."
"You're very welcome" Steve smiled. "I'll go get us some wine like I promised, but I do feel like I need to say hello to your family first considering I've been texting them to arrange this. But I'll be quick!"
"I have so many questions" You raised your eyebrow at him.
"Save them for later!" Steve told you while walking straight towards your parents.
With full trust that nothing chaotic would happen in that interaction, you scanned faces once more and realized Bucky and Nat were missing. You knew why, but it made your happy mood deflate again until Thor was the first of the bunch to walk up and introduce himself.
You made your way through Bruce, Carol, and even said hi to Maria Hill regardless of the fact that you worked with her many times before.
Steve did make it to you with a glass of wine in each of his hands between your interactions with people. "Here you go, Bugs. Not quite sure what this wine is but I told the nice girl at the bar you liked white wine so she poured you her favorite."
"You're the best." Your cheers your glass against his.
"Ugh, I know right?" He agreed sarcastically, drinking down a grin with a sip of red.
Your quick interaction with Steve made your family approach you to celebrate, but he definitely wanted you to have your time alone with them so he slipped away just as fast as he came.
Lots of hugs, lots of chatting, then lots of them pushing you away to go hang out with the Avengers.
Somewhere between Peter Parker and more time with Sam, a quick scan of the crowd had you realizing that now the Avengers were co-mingling with your family and friends. Oh, and Bucky and Natasha finally got there 45 minutes into the actual event.
Lost in conversation with Scott Lang about the most recent episode of that one sitcom he so happened to bring up, a pair of forearms wrapped around you from behind.
You pretty much expected it to be anybody but Natasha, but you were pleasantly surprised that she was already so comfortable with you. "Sorry we're late, but Rogers' mess is cleaned up and you'll never see it again. Also, you look hot in that dress."
There was no chance to thank her or apologize for the mess as she quickly galavanted off into the crowd.
Scott was pulled away from you about 10 minutes later, and your glass became empty of wine. Feeling mildly confident at this point that you had at least introduced yourself and greeted everyone there, you felt comfortable enough to go get a refill on your own.
Another heavy pour and you were back out. Conversation flowed a lot easier than expected between the groups you found yourself in. There was always something to talk about, laughter was a common occurrence, but somehow the mess in the corridor kept seeping into your mind no matter how hard you tried to push it down.
Eventually Bucky found his way to you, and somehow the comfort of one of your best friends helped quiet down all of the unnecessary noise in your brain.
In true Bucky fashion, he approached with plenty of food in hand. Setting a full wood fire pizza on the table, he pushed the whole tray towards you.
"You haven't been eating enough for someone at an event with free food" He noted.
"Hello to you too" You grinned, taking down another big gulp of wine.
"Steve told me you were worried about me." Bucky's face softened.
"I'm always worried about you, that's what friends are for." You agreed with Steve's statement.
"You know what that agent said about me tonight is nothing but water off a ducks back." He reassured you. "But what he said about you is what bothered me. That is what I take personally, and that's what I can't let anyone get away with."
You sighed. "What did you do, Buck?"
"Nat fired him, we both got him on some gnarly lists to ensure he's going to have a hard time finding another job." He explained. "I think Steve did enough damage that the dumbass will probably never reproduce, which is probably a blessing to the next generation. We didn't help him up though, he can figure that out himself."
"Don't you think that's a bit harsh?"
"If it was up to me. I wouldn't have left it at just his balls, but I digress" Bucky shrugged. "I'm really happy you're back, Buggy. I've been smiling all day knowing you're here."
"Well for what's it's worth, I'm sorry people have been saying rude things about you because of me, and I'm happy to be here to hopefully get back on the right foot. I missed you and Steve a lot these past couple of months."
"It's not your fault, so I'm not accepting that apology." Bucky denied. "But I will accept a hug because I missed you too."
"Tough crowd." You grinned before wrapping your arms around him and leaving them there for a while.
Then, he started whispering in your ear. "This was a trap I just wanted to gossip in peace"
You let out an uncontrollable laugh, starting to feel the effects the wine had on you. "What's up? What's the gossip?" You tried to whisper back but it was a little hard to get the words quietly past your smile.
"Has Steve kissed you yet?" Bucky asked in a dramatic whisper.
“No, I don't think he ever will." You denied. "But I just got back last night, give him some grace."
"I don't think he will either. He's really scared of you." He agreed with you. "Do you need me to yell at him for that? Or I can just kind've shove your faces together when I find the opportunity?"
He pulled another laugh from you. "No, it's okay. He's scared, he needs to go at his own pace."
"Have you admitted to yourself that you like him yet?"
"Unfortunately you knew that before I did, but yes, and I told him that too."
"Good, good." Bucky started to pull away from the hug, but your wrapped your arms tighter around him.
"Tell me about you and Nat now" You trapped him.
"Well I'm not a scaredy cat like Steve is so... Girlfriend."
You gasped with a smile and pulled back to observe his face. But it was obvious he wasn't lying to you, so you lit up once more. "I'm so happy for you!"
Raising your hand up for a high five, Bucky hit his metal palm against your hand.
From across the winery and under the gazebo, Steve watched this whole interaction between you and Bucky. He was pleasantly surprised when jealousy never rushed through his veins watching the two of you hug.
Thats when Steve realized how secure he felt with you now. He understood now more than ever that you and Bucky were purely platonic, and it was evident in the way you two looked at and touched each other. In fact, he even felt a sense of warmth and happiness watching you two have a secretive conversation that wasn't so slick. Maybe it would've been a little more discreet had you been a bit more sober, but he found it endearing nonetheless. He found himself feeling hopeful that soon enough the three of you really could smooth over the damage and go back to hanging out together, a notion that once felt impossible.
He was even happier when he saw the both of you take a slice of pizza, cheers, then eat together.
After that, he stopped watching. He was so content knowing that Bucky was keeping an eye on you. Maybe that's where he overestimated his false sense of security, because along with the pizza, Bucky brought you another glass of wine which only meant you were feeling sillier and more socially confident by the second.
At some point Steve fell deep into conversation with your dad, they were getting along so well, in fact, he hadn't even noticed that he spent about a whole hour and a half alone under the fairy light illuminated gazebo with him. They also didn't notice that you were getting along with the team so well it's like you were always part of the little family to begin with.
He didn't catch you and your sister flipping each other off from across the venue as often as you could, he didn't see the way you and Peter made a secret handshake, or even when you exchanged phone numbers with Bruce. He missed Sam making you laugh so hard you nearly peed your pants, then you, Nat, and Wanda disappearing to the bathroom for a solid ten minutes then coming back with your lipstick magically perfect again.
He also missed your fourth glass of wine.
But that was pretty obvious when you walked out of the bathroom and into the social event, scanning the intimate crowd to try and spot anyone to engage in conversation.
Thats when you noticed your mom batting her eyelashes and giggling in a one on one conversation with Tony, while your dad was batting his eyelashes and giggling under the gazebo with Steve.
A bit wobbly on your feet, you walked over to them and held onto the wooden entrance as you stepped up. Both of their attention was drawn to you from their spot on a bench.
You squinted your eyes at your dad. "Hello, Father."
"Daughter" He raised an eyebrow at you.
Steve didn't know where this interaction was about to go, so he observed carefully.
"Steve, is this strange man bothering you?" You asked him.
Steve laughed as your dad reached over to you and flicked the side of your head, you remained unfazed. "Not in the slightest."
"She's drunk" Your dad told Steve while covering your ears.
"I'm not drunk, I'm silly and perhaps a bit goofy, but I am not drunk." You grabbed your dad's wrists and pulled his hands off your ears. "My sobriety should be the least of your concerns at the moment."
"Why is that?" Your dad asked.
"Tony Stark is flirting with your wife." You pointed to your mom and Tony.
Steve followed your pointed finger and saw that you were actually right, and that made him laugh. "That's really concerning."
Your dad sighed. "So what? I have to fight Iron Man now? You chose to be a superhero and now I have to fight Iron Man for your own Mother?"
"Get used to it." You stuck your tongue out at him.
He stuck his tongue out right back at you before turning to Steve. "Please excuse me, I need to rescue my wife."
"By all means" Steve agreed.
When your dad walked off and you were alone with Steve, you sat down right next to him and pulled his arm around your shoulders before you closed your eyes and rested your head on him.
You didn't see his smile as he pulled you as close as he could and rubbed the top of your arm. "How are you doing?"
"Cold, tired, feet hurt." You mumbled. "Drunk"
"I thought you said you weren't drunk?" Steve quipped happily.
“Well, you're not my dad so you get to know the truth." You snuggled into him. "More truth, you smell really nice, and I just need to sit here for a little while."
A giggle escaped Steve from your confessions. "Are you having fun?"
"More fun than I thought" You nodded. "I'm so warm and fuzzy inside. It's been so long since I've felt happy like this."
That wiped the smile clean off of Steve's face. "I'm so happy that you're happy. It'll keep getting better, I'll make sure of it."
"I wish it could just be like this all the time." The feelings you never talk about spilling out of your mouth. "Life could be so good, and I really love it sometimes. I just don't know how to not take what other people do to me personally. You and Bucky are so good at that."
"You're good at everything you do, and life is about to get so much better for you, sweet girl. I promise."
"I'm trying really hard to believe you." You smiled. "I probably sound sad, but I'm happy right now. 'M always happy when I'm with you."
"You can stay with me however long you want, I'm happy with you too." He squeezed your shoulder.
"How did you guys plan such an elaborate event when nobody even knew if I would agree to be an avenger or if I would even be back at the compound today?" You asked.
"We used magic and our intuition" He said with a smile.
"You are so magical" Your alcohol influenced mind marveled. "And who in my family have you been communicating with because that's so magical"
"Your sister and your mom" Steve giggled at your question. "Your family is very nice and really fun to be around."
"Did my dad tell you embarrassing stories about me?"
"Surprisingly, no he didn't."
"Good, good. Let's keep it that way."
Closing your eyes, you let the wine and Steve's body heat relax all your muscles and wash the tension away. Unsure of how long you had actually been there, there was a point in which you could feel Steve shift to look at an approaching person.
An uncontrollable laugh escaped your intoxicated mind as whoever Steve was looking at sat on the other side of you and snuggled into your body the same way you were snuggled up to Steve, but for some reason you still didn't want to open your eyes.
"Wow, this is lovely" The voice said. It sounded like Sam, but you couldn't be too sure.
"Hey, I want in on this too" Sounded loudly from far away. Footsteps came running, and Maria plopped onto Sam's lap sideways. She kicked her legs over your and Steve's laps.
Slowly but surely, more Avengers, family and friends ended up under the gazebo with you and Steve. The cuddle pile grew with Scott and Nat, and lasted longer than it probably should've.
You were fed enough food by pretty much everyone while you all drunkenly told stories and laughed so hard that your stomach hurt that you eventually sobered up.
Once you were sober again, you realized just how fast time had flown by and were sad to hug your parents goodbye. You're pretty sure your mom hugged and your dad fist-bumped nearly every single person at the event, but that was neither here nor there.
Eventually everyone said goodbye, and by the time you got back into Steve's car it was already almost midnight. And by the time you got home and into Steve's bed, all of your energy was more than depleted. Social battery was in the negative, but you felt like you had been plugged into a high speed charger when he got under the covers next to you.
"How are you feeling?" That seemed to be everyone's favorite question to ask you.
"I kind've feel like you right now" With your eyes closed, your laid on your back with one arm above your head and the other resting over your hoodie on top of your belly.
Steve giggled "what is that supposed to mean?"
"I feel like I'm going to throw up."
"Any particular reason why?"
"I ate too much, drank too much wine. I'm bloated but happy so it's a small price to pay." You explained.
"Well if you're going to throw up, aim in that direction" Steve smiled and pointed in the opposite direction of himself. "Are you still drunk? Do you need some water?"
"No I'm not, I'm okay" Your smile barely ghosted your lips. "Just need some sleep."
Steve reached over and pulled some blankets over your frame before poking your cheek. "Remember what you promised me earlier?"
Your eyes opened to look at him. "I feel better, really. I do."
Steve sighed. "You don't even want to talk about it?"
"What is there to say?" You questioned. "All the same shit, different day. There's nothing I can do about that anymore."
"When this all first started, you were getting sent to my office nearly every day for fighting back, but tonight you kind've froze up. Why?"
"I wasn't expecting anyone to do that to me when I was with you." You answered. "But it's done now, it's fine."
"We both know it's not done" Steve's face softened. "And avoiding it doesn't make it go away."
"Would you like me to rewind time and kick him in the balls instead?"
"No, I just want you to know you can talk to me." Steve emphasized.
"I'm pissed off." You admitted. "I'm always in a state of being angry that this is the environment that I have to learn to thrive in every day, but I've also reached a state of emotional exhaustion that makes me feel like I have no room left to be even more angry than I already am. I've hit max capacity, so I'm choosing to stay as calm as I can because out of all the kicks and punches I've thrown, none of them have worked before. I have no reason to believe it'll work now."
“It's not fair." Steve huffed like kid.
"It never has been." You agreed with a shrug. "But you don't need to hold onto that anger for me. I'm trying to let go of it and move on."
"I'll let go of my anger in the form of making change." Steve told you, now feeling brave enough to pull you close to him.
You snuggled up close, your head on his bicep and your arm holding him gently. "I'm an avenger now. That's all the change I know how to make at the moment."
"I'm so proud of you" he practically whispered. "But I've never met anyone like you before."
"You really need to work on providing context before sentences that might hurt my feelings"
Steve chuckled at your bluntness. "You're telling me that you're happy, but you're also telling me that you're sad. Both of those statements feel genuine, so I don't really know where your mind is."
"Well then imagine how complex and confusing it is to be me" You emphasized. "Never in my whole life have I felt more alone while also feeling more loved than ever. I'm happy and sad, I just accomplished something most people never will by becoming an avenger yet I've also never felt more like a loser. This is the first time I've ever been relentlessly bullied but it's also the first time I've ever been a superhero so I guess the juxtaposition of my emotions is just turning my brain into scrambled eggs."
"Have you tried compartmentalization?" Steve offered with a grain of salt.
"I tried that once, I think I created too many emotional categories and got overwhelmed." You smiled. "But I'm a Gemini, so these complexities have been written in the stars for me since the moment I was brought onto the earth. I think I was born for the very purpose of the universe testing to see if overwhelming contradictory emotions could physically kill a human being."
"One of my greater purposes in life is to protect people against the things that could kill them, so you're in good hands right now." Steve slowly rubbed your back. "Overwhelm will not be your cause of death. Actually, nothing will be. I'm trying to convince Banner to make clones of us to be kept in cryofreeze that way when we die of old age, new versions of us can just be thawed out so we can be best friends forever."
"Spoken like a true cancer" You laughed, patting his chest. "Did I uphold my end of the promise?"
"We can call it even, but I'll always be concerned"
"Even Stevens!" You sleepily enthused.
"Are you rhyming or was that a reference to something?" You could hear his amusement.
"Both, you're a little too old to understand that one."
"That's really rude" Steve faked offense.
"Thanks for coming to my rescue, Twinkles. I know you think you didn't do much, but it means a lot to me when I know I have someone on my team."
"I'll always be on your team, you've always been worth the fight." Steve reminded you.
Those words comforted you enough to ignore your very full stomach and fall into a deep sleep in the hold of your favorite soldier's big protective arms. Unfortunately the universe loved to hate you, because you only got your share of the superhero until about 4am when his phone started ringing effectively waking both of you up.
A few curse words slipped out of his mouth in complaint before he reached for his phone and answered it. You didn't pay much attention to the phone call itself, but you did find it within your lack of  consciousness to move nearly your entire body onto his in attempt to keep him forever. Snuggling into him belly to belly, his hand found the back of your head and played with your hair as you slipped in and out of sleep.
By the time the phone call ended, you had effectively caged him between the mattress and your body. Realizing what you had done, Steve's cheeks burned as he let out a sigh.
"You can't go." You sleepily mumbled.
"You and I both know I don't really have any say in that." Steve reminded you apologetically.
"Says who? We all have free will."
"Unfortunately, the president of the United States. Apparently he requested to meet me for an urgent conversation about something that's happening somewhere." Steve explained.
"Damnit." You yawned. "I think the president has me beat in importance."
"I think the two of you are pretty equal in importance." Steve pondered. "The only difference is that people might die if I don't get out of bed."
"My soul will die if you get up, but it's fine, I understand." You joked dramatically.
"You're making it very hard for me" Steve complained, wrapping his arms around your back and squeezing you gently.
"If you're hard that's all the more reason to stay in bed." You joked, knowing damn well Steve wouldn't take a naughty joke like that very well.
And you were right, because the gasp that left his mouth was immediate and visceral. You didn't need to look at his face to know his cheeks were flushed pink and red hot. Your laugh was also pretty immediate and visceral as he used his body to flip you over onto the bed and propped himself up on his arm to lean over you. Pointing a finger at you like a dog, he had one word to say. "Bad!"
You laughed even harder as he shook his head at you. "I'm going to get up and get ready to meet the president, you stay here and think about what you just said."
Laying in bed alone, Steve eventually came to say goodbye to you. It was always sad to let each other go, but also an often occurrence. But this time he was hesitant to leave, of course you both knew why. Last night wouldn't be a one time event, but he encouraged you to stay close to Bucky, Nat and Sam as often as you could, and emphasized that there would be no timeline to his departure so he didn't know when he would be back. He also made it clear that should you need to defend yourself, you should do so with no hesitation.
Luckily, all was pretty smooth for a while. Your friendship with Nat bloomed faster than you'd ever expect it would, so for the first week Steve was gone the two of you were practically attached at the hip. Nat and Bucky spent a whole day helping you move from your old apartment up into the Avengers sector. Though it felt a bit pointless moving within the same building, the team felt better about keeping a protective eye on you when you weren't floors away from them. It was a nice change of pace to have a sense of community around you again.
The second week that Steve was gone, you tried to focus on building individual friendships with the team members outside of your little social circle. Your therapist also encouraged you to try and be brave enough to walk through the compound with a confident attitude so nobody would fuck with you, so you tried a few times on your own, a few times were nothing more than anxiety inducing, and a few times got you confronted with hostility which lead to 3 more agents getting fired by Natasha.
By the third week you finally got a phone call from Steve. It was nice to hear his voice and catch up and hear about what he had been up to for all this time, and it was especially nice to hear that he was wrapping up his work and he would be home soon. That same day you got to visit Jane and Luca over lunch at one of your favorite restaurants, then they helped you pick out a few new things for your new apartment.
Most kids acted as if a home store was cruel and unusual, but Luca was very opinionated about rugs and throw pillows. He even convinced you to get a new pair of sneakers at the clothing store he wanted to go to across the street from the compound.
Lots of therapy, lots of solo workouts, lots of team building, you were starting to feel mentally and physically stronger.
Strong enough to keep walking alone, and pushing forward no matter how hard it was.
When Steve landed on the runway after 3 whole weeks and a handful of days of being gone, he was so relieved to be back home. Without even making it off the jet he was already fantasizing about shaving the beard he unintentionally grew after forgetting his razor at home, a long shower and a long nap since it was only early in the afternoon and definitely not bedtime yet.
His fantasies continued as he stepped off the jet and into the building. Now he knew he wanted to see you before he knocked out for that nap he desperately needed. There would be some snacks at some point, and definitely no pants after the got out of the shower.
The sound of his boots on the sleek floor actually brought him joy knowing each step was one closer to you.
Like most fantasies, what he hoped and dreamed of was far from reality. Especially when a loud alarm sounded in the sector of the compound he was headed towards.
Stopping in his tracks and cringing at the sound, he waited for the code and location to be called out before springing into action. It could've been as simple as a knocked over vial in the lab, or complex as an invasion of an enemy. But when the code called out for aggressive physical conflict in the gym, Steve's heart sank and he started running as fast as he could.
He didn't want to believe it was you, but he couldn't be naive either. His racing heart and even faster legs carried him there faster than anyone else could. As he entered the doorway into the compound gym, he could hear the footsteps of a few sets of feet trailing behind him, but waiting for others arrival wouldn't slow him down.
Especially not when he entered the gym and it was completely empty besides two people, his heart sank even further when he recognized it was you, and the number on the back of the uniform of the other person was 212. Harvey.
No less than a billion racing thoughts came sped through Steve's mind, and none of the billion came together to form any good ideas. He swore all he saw was a blinding white and all he heard was his own heart beat in his ears as he sprinted through the equipment to get to where the altercation was happening.
The two of you looked like a cartoon before he went into fully protective mode. As he weaved through punching bags and stair climbers, he couldn't pick out where your body started and Harvey's ended. There might as well have been a big dust cloud around you, with puffs of air pluming out.
The consequences of putting himself in the middle of a fight wasn't even a thought in Steve's mind as he jumped over a treadmill and wrapped his arms around your waist from behind and tried to pull you backwards, far away from Harvey.
Unfortunately, you were a little too preoccupied trying to save your own life to notice the alarm was sounding or that anyone was coming to save you, let alone Steve who you didn't even know was home yet. Assuming it was another attacker, one of Harvey's buddies helping him take you down, you forcefully thrashed and kicked yourself out of the Steve's grip. Adrenaline clouded your judgement, flight was nowhere to be seen as fight took over your every thought, you turned around and swung your fist right at him to earn yourself more time to knock Harvey down. You know you made pretty harsh contact considering there was a shooting pain buzzing through your knuckles, but at this point there was pain jolting through nearly every part of your body, so this wasn't going to slow you down.
Still not realizing what you had done, you watched Natasha sprint into the room and full body tackle Harvey to the ground, followed by a few other commanding officers, Sam, and Bucky. Trusting their ability to deal with Harvey and not let him touch you again, you turned back around to deal with whoever else was.
Fist balled, ready for a second swing, you looked up at the targets face, and devastation immediately took over the whole of your emotions. Steve blocked your punch and caught your wrist mid swing.
"Hey hey hey, it's me. It's just me" Steve frantically tried to get you to stop.
"Oh my god" You whispered to yourself as you realized you punched Steve right on his cheekbone, hard enough a bruise was already forming.
He watched you come to the realization of what you had done, your wrist was shaking in his hand, even more so as he loosened his grip and gently placed your arm down to your side.
You looked battered and bruised, but when he looked back at Harvey, it was clear that you had won this fight.
Looking at your wide eyes, he could tell you were in shock, and coming down from the copious amount of adrenaline coursing through your veins. He knew all too well what that felt like. Guilt, shame, the full effects of pain from the injuries sustained, the tremors and how weak your knees and thighs would get. He's been in your position far too many times before, he knew it was the worst feeling in the world.
Especially when your cheek was oozing blood, your arms were scraped up and bruised. Steve could tell the fight started with an unfair advantage.
Then, tears started pooling in your eyes as you looked at Steve's face and you opened your mouth but no words would come out.
"It's okay." Steve told you, very slowly reaching out to put his hands on your shoulders trying to snap your brain out of fight mode. "You're okay."
A tear fell down your cheek and your eyebrows furrowed before you muttered a quiet. "I'm so sorry."
"You didn't know" Steve shook his head. "You were just trying to protect yourself. You're okay, buggy."
You looked over your shoulder and saw Harvey on the ground. His face was a lot bloodier than yours. With eyes swollen shut and his nose definitely not in its usual form, you felt like a monster.
A sob escaped your throat, and your shaky hand flew up to cover your mouth before your eyes squeezed shut. "What did I do?"
"Everything is going to be fine." Steve reminded you, pulling your attention back to him.
His bruised face only made your sobs escape faster and your heart pound even faster. "I'm so sorry, Steve, I-I didn't mean to. I didn't know it was you."
"I know you didn't, you didn't even know I was home." Steve reasoned with you. "It's okay, just take some deep breaths for me."
You shook your head, still panting from the physical exertion. "I can't."
"You can't?" He questioned.
"I have to go." You took a big step backwards, Steve's arms fell back to his sides.
More concern than Steve ever thought was humanly possible took over his mind. "Where do you need to go?"
"I don't know." You sobbed. "I just need to go. I'm sorry"
Another two scared steps backwards, then you bolted out of the gym. Steve started making strides towards you, fully prepared to follow you but Sam approached him and stuck his arm out.
"You have to let her go on her own." Hand flat to Steve's chest, he stopped him. "She needs time to calm down and come to terms with what just happened. Trust that if she needs something, she will call you."
Steve's shoulders deflated. He wanted to go help, convince you to see a medic and have an emergency meeting with your therapist, but he also knew Sam was probably right.
With a big deep breath, Steve assessed the state of the gym. Realizing one of the treadmills was still on and going, he reached over the machine to stop it. Then a few commands slipped through his mouth while trying to organize his own brain.
He needed the security camera footage of the incident, he needed the alarm to stop, he needed a lab clean up crew to get rid of all the blood on the gym floor, and he needed Harvey handcuffed to the hospital bed he was bound to end up in. He was too tired to do any of that on his own, but luckily others were eager to get this taken care of too.
Just as he was no longer needed, Bucky approached and squeezed his shoulder.
"What's that thing on your face?" Bucky's nose scrunched up.
"She got me on accid-"
"I'm not talking about the bruise. I didn't even know you were capable of growing a beard" Bucky commented.
Narrowing his eyes, Steve glared at Bucky. "I forgot my razor."
"Respectfully," Bucky stated looking him up and down. "You look like shit, Pal."
"Thanks, Buck." Steve sarcastically smiled. He knew he looked disheveled and tired.
"Really, I think 66 more years of sleep would look good on you." He backhandedly tapped Steve's chest. "Go take a nap."
"I don't think I'll be able to sleep after she ran off like that." Steve sighed.
"We'll take care of her." Bucky reassured him. "We can always wake you up if need be, but her and Nat have grown really close. She has a lot of people in her court."
After about 10 more minutes of arguing with Bucky, he decided to just let him win under the conditions that he would keep him updated when he found out any new information.
Steve showered, shaved, and put on sweatpants and a shirt before getting into bed. He didn't want to wear pants, but he did it for your sake, just in case you came to find him. Realizing it had been about an hour since the incident, he tried calling you just to see if you would pick up, but he wasn't shocked when you didn't. So he sent you a text letting you know he was here for you when you were ready, then tried his hardest to get his mind to calm down enough to fall asleep.
It took an unfortunately short amount of time, as the second he laid down sleep hit him harder than your fist against his face, and he knocked out for so long that he woke up to the sound of his phone ringing, and it was now pitched black in his bedroom.
"Hello?" Steve mumbled into his phone.
"Jesus Christ, good morning sleeping beauty." Bucky said.
"Weren't you the one who told me to get some sleep?" Steve poked.
"Not important, glad you're back from the dead. I have some updates for you. Are you awake enough to process the words I'm speaking to you"
“I will be once I'm filled with rage over this situation again. What's up?"
"The security footage was recovered and I finally got to see it. It's enough evidence to land Harvey in jail for assault, so that's what Natasha is currently perusing."
Steve sat up in bed and reached for the lamp on the bedside table, blinking his eyes to adjust as it clicked on. "What happened?"
"She was alone in the gym, running on the treadmill and minding her own business. 212 saw her in there on her own, snuck in through the back door and yanked her off the treadmill. Her foot slipped off the end of the machine so he pushed her forward and scraped her face and arms against the moving belt, which is why she was bleeding. He was screaming some things at her but none of it is very clear. He tried kicking her a few times but she was able to get up and try to push him off of her, he persisted and she got fed up after he managed to get a swing at her collar bone and kicked her chin. She just... started swinging at him and didn't stop until you and Nat got them away from each other." Bucky explained.
"If this video can get him in jail, that would be great. But it can't be used if it's incriminating against her. We can't have that happen." Steve sighed.
"If anything, it's proof of self defense. You know Nat would never let anything bad happen to her. None of us would." Bucky reminded Steve. "It looked really painful on her end though. She ended up going to medical, but they released her a couple hours ago. JARVIS is telling me she's hanging out on the roof."
"Think I should go up there?" Steve asked, swinging his legs over the side of the bed, already knowing the answer.
"Well I don't necessarily think she should be alone for much longer."
"I'll talk to you later then."
The call ended and Steve stood in front of the mirror to fix his hair, while trying his hardest to ignore how tender and swollen his cheek was now. Before making it up to the private roof access, Bucky sent him the video and it took everything out of him to not kill Harvey with his own two hands. But a deep breathing exercise helped him regulate his anger again.
When he got up there and made it to the top, he saw you laying beneath the stars on a blanket with your headphones on, quietly crying to yourself and hoping that the moon understood your pain.
You noticed Steve immediately, and took your headphones off before sitting up as he quietly sat down next you. Trying your hardest to be brave, your lip wobbled trying to contain the new wave of emotion you felt. No words needed to be exchanged as you gently reached up and cupped his bruised cheek into your palm. There was a physical pain blossoming in your chest as he wrapped you up into his arms, but butterflies fluttered in his stomach as you let one of your arms keep him close, and your hand stayed over his cheek.
You cried tucked into his neck for a little while as he rubbed your back and simply let you feel your feelings. After a little while he heard your small broken voice.
"I'm so sorry." You apologized again, bravely pulling away and moving your hand to inspect the damage you did to his face. "Are you okay? Does it hurt?"
"It's okay, Bugs. I'm fine. It was a dumb move on my part to grab you like that, if I was you I would've punched me too." Steve responded sincerely, taking in the burn-like scabs on your face down near your jaw. "Are you okay?"
"Could've been a lot worse." You nodded with a sniffle, really trying to convince yourself that you were okay. "I don't remember what happened, it all happened so fast I can't even recall specifics. I got scared and didn't want to hurt anyone else so I ran. I'm still trying to come down from that."
"I saw footage from the security camera, it wasn't good, Bug." Steve broke the news to you softly. "You did what you needed to do, and it was all within reason. There mere fact that you walked away with a few scrapes and bruises is a miracle."
"Did he sneak up on me?" You asked, Steve simply nodded in return with a sympathetic look on his face. "That's what I thought must've happened, that's also probably why I punched you so hard."
"If you need to see the video to help you process, I'll show it to you. But right now, I think it's best to just try and wind down."
In agreement, you made yourself comfortable next to Steve. You sat sideways nearly on his lap, with your legs thrown over his. His arm pulled you into his torso, and you rested your head onto your shoulder. Steve noticed your tiny winces as you adjusted to the new found pain and soreness in your body, but he tried his best to avoid all the spots he knew were injured.
“You saw a doctor right? Is everything okay?" He questioned, genuinely concerned.
You nodded. "Everything is pretty surface level, but apparently being slammed onto some heady gym equipment can bruise a rib."
"Bruised ribs are so painful" Steve's face scrunched up. "You're one tough cookie."
"I'm sorry this is what you came home to after being away for so long."
Steve was looking at you, admiring the way you looked under the moonlight, yet you couldn't keep your eyes off the stars. "I wish you didn't feel the need to apologize for things that aren't your fault."
"I'm working on that, and I don't anymore for most people. But for you? A million apologies wouldn't be enough. You're too sweet for this kind of nonsense."
"You are too, but out of all people you should know that I understand." Steve stressed. "In a lot of ways, we're very similar, Bug. I know what it feels like to be in the position you're in right now. You don't need to explain anything or apologize to me. I get it."
You tried to understand his words, but you really didn't. For a moment, you almost got upset with him for implying that anyone would treat him the way you've been treated around the compound. Steve was one of the most respected people in the world, you could barely earn the respect of a new hire agent. "I don't see anyone rushing to try and physically harm you for going on a run." You wiped tears from under your eyes.
"No, maybe not here." Steve agreed with you. "But way back when I first got the serum, I struggled really hard to earn respect from anyone around me."
"I have to admit, it's hard to imagine anyone disrespecting you."
Steve grinned and carefully brushed a few stray strands of hair away from your eyes. "I went from a 90 pound asthmatic who didn't have the strength to complete one push up to a human science experiment. I proved myself the very moment after I got the serum and it still wasn't enough for a lot of people. Thats why I was paraded around on that USO tour for so long, nobody thought I could handle fighting a war."
"You looked really cute in those booty shorts" you sniffled.
Steve chuckled at your statement. "Stop making me laugh when I'm trying to teach you a valuable lesson."
"I'd rather jump off this roof than not make you laugh" you smiled despite the contradictory tears.
"The point of this conversation is actually to make sure you don't jump off the roof." Steve informed you.
Your eyes moved from the stars to his eyes, they were both as equally beautiful and bright. "Is that what you're worried about? I would never-"
"Quite honestly, yeah, I am." He cautiously continued with a slight nod. "We see a more on a daily basis than anyone should see in their whole life, that alone is grounds for struggle but when you factor in everything else, I don't think that concern is far off."
Your tears fell faster at his statement. As a sad sob slipped past your throat and your eyes found the sky once more, Steve's heart broke knowing he hit the nail on the head. He also knew you wouldn't open up if you felt defensive about it, so he needed to take the scenic route to get you there.
"What's your favorite part about the stars?" Steve asked. "You seem to love looking at the sky when you're sad."
"Looking for constellations helps me stay calm and get out of my head" You explain with a sniffle. "They're hard to see in the city but it's better here upstate."
Steve looked up. "It's amazing to me that you can find constellations. All I see is each individual star."
You pointed at the brightest light. "That's Saturn, and these stars right below it make up the Aquarius constellation."
"It's crazy that the universe is so vast."
"That's another reason why I like the stars so much. With so much happening out there, it's a good reminder that everything down here is so tiny and insignificant in the grand scheme of the universe. Sometimes that makes me feel like I can keep going strong, like one day none of this will even matter."
"You really believe in astrology? I go back and forth. The stars are so far away, I struggle to understand how they can control so much of who we are." Steve pondered.
"I do believe in it." You nodded. "The moon controls our oceans, the tide is physical proof. Our bodies are made up of 60% water, and all of the other elements we're made up of were formed in the stars over the course of billions of years. It's hard for me to believe they don't have a say in what's going on down here."
"I've never thought of it that way." Steve grinned. "It's really magical when you put it like that."
"Maybe you're made up of more stardust than the average human considering your eyes seem to twinkle like they're already up in space." You noted. "It's magical, but it's also equally devastating to feel like the bad parts of your life are written into the stars."
"We need the not so great stuff to help us understand how amazing the good stuff is. Can't see the stars if the sun is out." For some reason, his perspective brought you comfort. It felt like the hug he kept you wrapped up in. "Maybe that's always why I've thought so highly of you. Despite the darkness you've continued to show excellence, and shine brighter than the rest."
"Then maybe I'm a supernova because sometimes I really do feel like I'm going to explode." You giggled at your own realization.
"Even then you'd still shine a million times brighter than the sun!" Steve enthused, big smile on his face. "But don't explode, black holes are terrifying."
"I won't. That's why I came up here. Avengers only access, don't have to worry about anybody else or the damn sprinklers."
"When I was in the Army, drawing was my version of looking at the stars. It was the only way I could really get my mind to quiet down." Steve explained. "Back then, I was miserable. All the army men hated me, I had recently lost my mom, and I thought I killed Bucky. The war was so horrific I didn't think I'd ever be able to recover from what I had to do or what I had to see, and I felt even worse for the innocent lives taken in the whole ordeal. So, when I knew that I could end it... I did."
"You're a hero because of it." You agreed, feeling a bit confused by his words.
"No, you don't understand." Steve denied. "The plane crash that got me stuck in the ice? I could've gotten out. There was a chance for me to jump out of the plane, but I didn't. I didn't see the point."
Your heart sank at the implication of what he was confessing to you, and all it wanted to make you do is just hold him tight and weep forever. But you knew that wasn't the point, you knew you just needed to keep listening.
"I can't say that I regret it, because had that never happened I would've never gotten to enjoy living a life I never imagined, and I would've never met you, or the Avengers." He explained. "But it made my life far more complicated, and at least once a day I imagine what my life would've been like had I just gotten myself to safety, and that imagining- the 'what's ifs?' is something I'd never wish upon anyone. I do know how you feel, and much like you know the moon controls the ocean, I know things will get better. All you need to do is believe it."
Your eyes momentarily squeezed shut to rid them of the tears blurring your vision. They dripped down your cheeks as you shook your head, and his brave vulnerability made you realize that you always loved him, but in this moment you had fully and irrevocably had fallen for him. It was as if there was no more questions in your mind, you couldn't even understand anymore why you hadn't been with him way before this whole mess. It consumed every single one of your emotions, you simply couldn't ignore it anymore.
"I would never, Rogers, never." You confirmed with a cry. "I can't lie, I've been pushed to thinking about it, but it made me realize that I couldn't do that to you, my parents, Luca. Nobody. I love you so much, and I really hate to hear that, but I'm really glad you're here."
"Maybe this is what was written in the stars." Steve reached his hand up and used his thumb to gently swipe tears off your cheeks. "Maybe all of this was meant to happen so that this moment, right now could teach you that no matter what happens, you'll always have people to catch you at the bottom should you feel like you have nowhere else to go."
"Or maybe the lesson is that the idea of our existences happening at the same time is so unlikely that we have no choice but to listen to the universe." You said quietly, almost coming to that realization in real time. "Maybe you were always meant to be mine."
Steve's heart nearly pounded out of his chest as you spoke those words, then, as you looked up at him and closed the distance between your lips, he felt like a supernova too. He was burning hotter and brighter than ever before when your soft lips connected to his, his chest was mere seconds away from exploding when you pulled away to examine his shocked face.
Trying to process what had just happened, the sound of your giggles at his twinkling eyes and blushed cheeks grounded him and pulled him right back down to earth.
"Wait hold on..." Steve clutched his chest.
"Are you going to throw up?" You asked, wiping the last of your tears off your face as your smile took over.
"I think I need to sit down." He stated, finally making eye contact with you.
Your laugh boomed once again. "You're already sitting!"
"Okay, then I need to lay down." He said, readjusting to lay down on your blanket.
Your smile persisted as you laid down next to him. Shoulder to shoulder, arm to arm, your hands intertwined. "This is better than you throwing up."
"Wait..." Steve spoke, looking up at the moon.
You turned your head to look at him. "What?"
"Again" He insisted, turning his head towards you too.
It took a lot of effort to contain your smile enough to kiss him, but you did, and it felt just as right as the first time. Keeping it short and sweet, it didn't take long for Steve to point to the stars.
"I like these bitches, they're being very nice to me right now" He smiled.
Admitting to how hard you laughed at his statement would simply be too embarrassing, but it was hard enough to yell at him for further irritating your bruised rib. "Now you can't get mad at me for calling you Twinkles."
"You can call me whatever you want, Love Bug."
Butterflies in your stomach erupted in flutters at his choice of nickname. "A cancer and a Gemini, who would've thought?"
Steve shrugged. "It works."
"What now?" You asked with a sigh, you didn't know if you were asking Steve or the stars.
"You fight your ass off in a trial against Harvey, you help us out in an investigation on him and everyone that's been tormenting you, you continue doing what you're amazing at, and you keep that beautiful smile on your face because all of this is about to change." Steve explained. "This was the fuel we needed to start a fire around the compound. It's enough to light the whole place up and change the status quo. By the end of it, it's going to improve the lives of every agent in the program, that's my vow to you."
All his words sounded appealing and genuine enough to believe them.
"Pinky promise?" You raised your pinky on the hand that wasn't already holding his.
"Pinky promise" He connected his pinky with yours, then kissed the back of his hand... then your forehead... then your lips.
He knew confidently, now more than ever, that his love for you transcended time and space. The laws of life, love, nature, and even the stars never applied to the connection you two shared.
Maybe it was fate, or maybe it was coincidence that the boy born in 1918 had a chance to fall so deeply in love with a girl who didn't live in the same era as him.
Or maybe everything did happen for a reason. Maybe your life was already mapped out in the stars, and all you had to do was find the right constellations.
You would always have infinite questions about the intricacies of the universe, but out of all the answers you are confident in, you knew two things for certain.
Steve was your North Star. So long as you had him to guide you, you always knew you'd be on the correct path. You'd always get where you needed to go, and he would always be there for you regardless of what season of life you were in.
He was your star crossed lover.

Tumblr media
Long, thick and hard in your hand. You're in the middle of a club, surrounded by tons of people, your hand around Javier’s cock and yet you don't care. He doesn't care.
Javier just fingered you dumb and now you've managed to pull his cock out of his pants. You jerk him slowly, fingers squeezing him gently.
He's breathing heavily, eyes shut tight, jaw clenched. Little sounds leave him every now and then and you can feel yourself getting wetter. You just want him in you. You need to feel his cock in you, you need to feel him thrusting into you, need to feel him fill you up.
You kiss his jaw, lick his neck. His hands are gripping onto your hips with so much force, you can feel the bruises forming.
“Angel,” he says breathlessly, his hips starting to buck against your hand. You like the nickname, it's sweet, soft…But it's also a little ironic. He calls you an angel even though you're doing this in public. Or maybe it's because you seem to be doing such a good job.
“Angel, wait,” he grunts, biting his lower lip. “Wait.”
You slow the movement of your hand but don't completely stop. “Yeah?”
“I need—fuck—need to leave. I should leave before I do something I regret.”
You frown slightly, releasing his cock from your grasp. “If you don't want this, I can just stop—”
“No. That's not the problem. Trust me, I want this. I just…you can do so much better than me,” he says quietly, those dark eyes meeting yours. “I'm not good for you.”
You lean closer to him, lips grazing his, your breath brushing his skin. “Let me decide for myself,” you whisper, hand returning to his cock.
He shakes his head. “I'm serious. You're-you're just too good for me.”
You giggle softly, squeezing his shaft, thumb rolling over the tip as it drips with precum. “I can misbehave, if it'll make you feel better.”
He chuckles roughly. “Ah, fuck.” He glances around. “I'd fuck you right here, right now, angel. But there are so many people. No one else should get to see you.”
Your heart starts beating faster at his words, at his possessiveness.
“Then let's go somewhere we can be alone,” you say quietly, leaning your lips closer to his ear. “Somewhere we can do whatever we want without having to worry about anyone else.”
His eyes darken, pupils blown wide with lust. “The back of my car,” he whispers, as if thinking out loud, while he tucks himself back in his pants. “Right now.”
*
You let him lead you, let him take you to the back of his Jeep.
Thank fuck for spacious back seats, he thinks as he guides you into the car. The windows are tinted, the parking lot is full of cars but void of people. It’s perfect.
Don’t, a little voice in Javi’s head is begging. Don’t do this. C’mon, she’s so young. She’s not thinking straight. She thinks she wants you, she doesn’t really know how much of a mess that’s going to be. You should be the adult, tell her no.
He shuts the car door after himself and pulls you onto his lap. His every thought evaporates. Good or bad, every thought dissipates. The only knowledge left in his mind is a) there is a condom in his wallet, and b) he needs to fuck you now. Before he loses his mind and comes untouched.
“Fuck, you’re gorgeous,” he says, hands wandering up and down your waist, fingertips grazing your breasts.
He helps you out of your blouse gingerly, undoing each button with patience. He wants you to enjoy this, wants to drag the moment out for as long as he can.
This is only going to happen once, so I better make the best of it.
Your bra comes off next, revealing your perfect breasts. He’s quick to kiss from your neck down to your collarbone, and then his lips find one of your nipples. He sucks on it, licks it, teeth gently tugging at it. Your other nipple is quickly taken in by his fingers. He sucks and pinches and licks and kisses until your back is arching and you’re panting.
Until he can feel you dripping onto the fabric of his pants. Until your slick is seeping through.
Fuck.
He releases your nipples, the nubs now swollen from the attention, and he kisses your mouth. Your lips are soft and you taste sweet, of the piña colada you had and a certain innocence he is not worthy of.
His hands wander to your thighs, pushing your skirt up and bunching it around your waist. He holds your hips, eyes falling to your soaked panties before meeting your eager gaze.
“Angel, are you sure you want this?” he asks, voice hoarse and breathless.
You nod. “I’m absolutely sure,” you tell him. “I want you, Javi. Please.” You undo his pants, unbuckling his belt, undoing the button, pulling the zipper down, hands eager and needy.
“Fuck,” he groans, cock in your hand as you pull him free. “Alright. Alright.”
He reaches into his back pocket and pulls out his wallet. He retrieves the foil packet and opens it with ease. He slides it on, the car quiet except for the sound of your heavy breathing and his panting.
When the condom is in place, you grab onto his shoulders, adjusting your hips on his. He grabs you by the waist, keeping you from sliding onto him. When your gaze rises to his, he firmly says, “If you want to stop, you tell me.”
You nod, trying to lower yourself onto him. He keeps you from it. “Repeat it,” he orders.
“If I want to stop, I tell you,” you repeat breathlessly, sounding eager and needy, and Jesus fucking Christ, Javier just wants to fuck you.
“Good girl.” He grabs your hips and slowly leads your body down. The tip of his cock, an angry red with need, probes against your entrance and he groans.
A little breath leaves you and your hips rock against him, allowing him to slide between your folds and smear your slick all over his thick length.
He grabs his cock in hand, aligns himself and then leads you onto him.
Your pussy is warm, tight, soaked. You moan as he slowly guides you down and he watches as you take every inch of him. He grunts, chest heaving with each breath, and is amazed as you stretch to fit him.
When he’s all the way in, he pauses, giving you the time you need to adjust, handing the control of the situation over to you.
He glances up at your face. Your eyes are closed, eyebrows pinched together, mouth slightly agape. Your heavy breathing and little whimpers make him throb with the desire to just rut into you, fuck you hard until you’re begging him to stop.
But not now. Now, it’s your call. This is your decision.
He kisses your neck, licking your jaw. “You feel so good, baby,” he murmurs, inhaling the sweet scent of your sweat. “So fuckin’ tight. Look at how you take me so well…”
You slowly move your hips, starting to ride him. He keeps himself back from thrusting up into you. Taking deep breaths, he manages to control his urges and just lets you do it how you want.
The sounds that leave your mouth are heavenly, the feeling of you clenching around his cock has him biting his lower lip, trying not to come already.
While you ride him slowly, hips moving softly, exploring to find the best angle, he moves one of his hands from your hip to your clit, his thumb adding soft, gentle pressure there.
You gasp, writhing, hips bucking to meet his touch. He chuckles, an almost guttural sound that makes you clench him tighter.
“Such a good girl. Look at you.” He smirks, keeping his thumb on your clit while his other hand moves to grab your chin and force you to glance down. “Look at how well you take me. Oh, you’re doing so good, baby. Such a good little thing…”
You whimper, spurred on by his words, riding him faster. “Javi! Javi!” you squeal.
He clenches his jaw, his hips not obeying him and starting to thrust up, meeting your movements. “I know, angel. I know.” He kisses your neck, bites the sensitive skin there. He wants to leave a mark, wants others to see. He just wishes they could know it was him.
As your movements start to stutter, Javi takes over. He grabs your hips, holding you up, and fucks up into you. His cock slides in and out with ease, the obscene sound of your soaked cunt imprinting itself in his mind along with the image of your bouncing breasts and the sight of your beautiful face caught in ecstasy.
Javier knows he’s going to think about this moment for a long while after tonight. He’s going to use this memory over and over, in the shower, late at night, when he’s with his hookers. No more imagining what you feel like. The memory of your pussy around him is going to haunt him until the end of his days.
“C’mon, baby,” he grunts, admiring you as he feels you clench around him. “Come for me, angel. I know you’re close. Play with that pretty clit for me, lemme watch you.”
You obey, hand desperately rushing to your nub to rub it in hard, quick circles. Your moans fill his ears and the car shakes under the two of you.
Your climax hits you with so much force that you throw your head back, back arching, every muscle going tense. And then you shudder, gasping, moaning, nails digging into his shoulders.
The sight, the feel, the entire experience of watching and feeling you reach your orgasm sends Javier over the edge. He spills into the condom, grunting, fingers kneading the flesh of your hips.
“Fuck,” he gasps as he starts to come down from his high. “Fuck, angel.”
Weak, exhausted, you lean down and rest your head on his shoulder. “God, Javi...” Your voice is soft, breathless.
He grins at himself a little, knowing he did a good job.
He kisses your forehead gently. “You did so well for me, y’know that? So, so well. You were such a good girl.”
*
His praise makes the soft blush on your cheeks intensify and you giggle. “Mmm…” You kiss his jaw, his cheek. He smells of sweat, musk, cigarettes, whiskey…
Danger.
You nuzzle your face into the crook between his shoulder and his neck. “We should make this a regular thing,” you venture, a little nervous that he’ll turn you down.
You’d heard the rumors. Javier Peña, the womanizer. Javier Peña, the man who just sleeps around. Javier Peña, the flirt. The heartbreaker, the cocky asshole, the temperamental and ambitious and dangerous man.
Javier Peña, Javier Peña, Javier Peña.
His name is on the lips of every woman at the embassy. You included. Those late nights, thinking, imagining, dreaming…Your fingers deep in your cunt, your eyes rolling back in your head as you moaned Javi, Javi, Javi almost with the hope he’d appear in your bedroom and do it himself.
You’d been warned by all the other women, been warned against the danger he poses.
But you’re willing to risk it all if it means he’ll fuck you like this again.
*
He holds your gaze, eyes flickering across your face.
Are you serious? Are you actually asking him for more?
He pauses, biting his lower lip.
No, his conscience screams. Tell her no. It’s a bad idea. You’re not good for her. Don’t, don’t don’t. Just let her down.
But, fuck, the way you’d felt around him, those doe eyes of yours. Your moans, your perfect body…
“You sure you wanna get into this with me?” he asks instead, ignoring everything within him that begs otherwise.
You smile gently, kissing his jaw. “Yeah,” you say softly.
Your kiss sends shivers down his spine and the blood is already pumping down to his cock again. “I hope you know what you’re getting into, angel,” he warns, rolling you over to pin you under him, your back against the soft material of the car seat. “If I get my hands on you, I won’t be able to let you.”
Your eyes shine and his heart just about stops. “You won’t hear me complaining,” you whisper.
He smirks. “Good. I just wanna hear you scream my name.”
Javier doesn’t know anything for the next hours except for you, the feeling of your body, your scent, your moans. He loses himself in you. And good God, he’s going to hell for this, but at least he’ll die a happy man.

A3! Translation - Izumida Azami SR 【A wish that is a secret to everyone】 「Tanzaku with a written wish」 (1/2)
Tumblr media
Azami: Director.....that's an insane amount of vegetables.
Director: For dinner, I'm planning to make a curry using lots of summer vegetables to prevent summer fatigue.
Director: By the way, was there something you needed?
Azami: I'm gonna be going to my parents house tomorrow to pick bamboo, so I thought I'd let you know.
Director: Ah, that bamboo you mentioned before? But tomorrow seems pretty sudden.
Azami: I told them it was okay since we weren't in a hurry, but my dad keeps nagging me to come and pick it quickly because it'll be Tanabata by then.
Tumblr media
Director: (I'm sure the Chairman really wants to see Azami-kun.)
Director: Everyone will be happy and grateful to have bamboo again this year. Please go and collect it.
Azami: Got it.
-------------------
Azami: I'm home.
Sakoda: Azami, welcome home!
Tumblr media
Chairman: So you've finally come to pick bamboo.
Azami: I've already told you I didn't need it yet......
Chairman: You might not need it, Azami, but there are other young people who may feel differently.
Sakoda: That's right Azami! Maybe the Summer Troupe members would like decorating the bamboo!
Azami: Well, it is true that the Summer Troupe guys were making something and are probably gonna display it....
Sakoda: Then it'll be better to bring it sooner right?
Azami: You can decorate it in just a day.
Chairman: Well, that's fine isn't it? The sooner we can get it the better.
Makita: Bocchan, there are lots of bamboos in the garden. Please choose whichever one you like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Azami: There are a lot? Got it, I'll go and check it out.
----------------------
Azami: There's so many....... One would have been enough, but they prepared this many.
Tumblr media
Makita: Ahh, well the Chairman told me to prepare a lot of things.
Sakoda: The bamboos that Azami doesn't choose will be donated to a nearby kindergarten or a store that children often go to, so don't worry!
Azami: I see. Which one to choose.....
Azami: (Ah, this bamboo's color is the prettiest)
Tumblr media
Azami: I'll take this one.
Makita: As expected, you picked a good one. Well then, I'll get it ready so you can take it.
Azami: I'm counting on it.
Sakoda: I'll help out too!
Azami: (.....huh? That bamboo over there has something decorated on it)
Azami: (Are these all tanzaku* written by the members? I wonder what they wrote)
Tumblr media
Azami: "World peace"....?
Young Yakuza Member A: Bon! That one's mine! If Bon reads it, I feel like it's gonna come true!
Young Yakuza Member B: Eee! Please read the rest of ours too!
Young Yakuza Member C: Please!
Azami: It can't be helped...
Azami: "I hope the idol Kocchan is able to become the center".....? This one is "Health First"......
Azami: This one says "I hope I can shake hands with the model Kika-chan" haa?
Azami: (I can't imagine these would be a Yakuza's wish...)
Young Yakuza Member B: Hurray, I got Bon to read it!
Young Yakuza Member C: I hope my wish comes true!
Azami: (I thought that people wouldn't actually believe this kinda thing.... but it turns out everyone does)
Young Yakuza Member A: Bon! Here's a tanzaku and a pen!
Azami: Ah?
Tumblr media
Young Yakuza Member A: Don't be like that. Please write your wishes down too, kay!
Azami: Hah!? I said I'm fine! I don't want to write it!
Young Yakuza Member A: Hahaa, well, I guess I have a complex about my handwriting.
Young Yakuza Member B: Mhm, it's cool, but it's round like a girls, so you probably don't want all of us seeing it right?
Young Yakuza Member B: Is that so? But it makes for a nice gap!
Tumblr media
Azami: That's not what I'm talking about!
Young Yakuza Member C: If you don't want people seeing your tanzaku, you don't have to display it here.
Azami: Well, that's fine I guess.....
Tumblr media
Azami: But you absolutely cannot come into my room while I'm writing it!

Call Me Mrs. Rogers
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Word Count: 8.7k
Warnings: not many, very brief mentions of death and some minor violence- this story is mostly just sassy arguing tbh
Genre: fluff
Summary: You have never gotten along with one Steve Rogers, at this point the rest of the team considers it a win if you two don't speak to each other for an entire day, at least then you aren't fighting. So when a briefing meeting results in you getting paired on an extended mission with him you are less than thrilled. It won't be easy but you're determined to get through it and who knows what'll happen.

***
You check your watch as you walk down the halls of the Avengers tower heading towards the meeting room. When you push open the door everyone turns to look at you.
"Y/n. So nice of you to join us." Steve snarks at you from the front of the room.
"Oh I'm sorry were you waiting for me? I would've taken longer if I knew." You say lazily as you plop into a seat next to Wanda who has to hide her snicker at your words. Steve rolls his eyes at you but doesn't bother trying to retort. Your relationship with him always been somewhat contentious. You assume it's because he's a square.
"Now that everyone's here we can get started." Steve says passing out the briefing folders. You flip yours open and scan the words quickly as he begins talking.
"Alright, here's the situation; this is our target, Dusan Müller. Hydra scientist. Our sources say he's been hiding in a small town somewhere outside of central Italy." Steve explains.
"That's very nonspecific." You scoff.
"We've narrowed it down to one of five we simply need to check them out and find him and assuming he has help we need to do it without raising suspicion."
"So, espionage? Someone's going undercover?" Nat asks.
"That's the plan." He nods.
"Who's going and what's their cover?" Bucky asks.
"Based on some research we've done the most solid undercover would probably be a newlywed couple." Tony says.
"Wait what?" Wanda frowns.
"A few of the towns are travel hotspots for 'unconventional honeymoons'. A new couple touring Europe is least likely to raise questions. At the very least it'll take a while before anyone realizes the truth." He explains.
"Sooooo who are our newlyweds?" Nat prompts again.
"That's what we're going to figure out now." Steve says.
"You haven't decided yet?" You frown.
"There are a lot of factors. A discussion makes the most sense so we can account for as many as possible." He forces out through clenched teeth.
"Well y/n and I have tons of espionage experience." Nat says.
"We could always go together." You wink at her.
"And Steve's one of the strongest fighters." Wanda says.
"He's a lanky scientist will we need brute strength really?" You ask.
"Again we don't know who is helping so if he's not isolateable we might." Tony says.
"Well if we're listing them off Bucky's a pretty strong choice for top fighters too." You point out.
"Anyone helping a Hydra scientist would for sure notice me though, plus with the metal arm I might- draw more attention, because jackets in the middle of summer on a honeymood would be weird." Bucky explains shaking his head.
"I'd go but the whole billionaire playboy thing I wouldn't wanna risk being recognized." Tony shrugs.
"Where are Bruce and Clint? Are they not available for this mission?" Wanda asks suddenly.
"They are not. Other tasks are occupying their time." Tony tells her. "If you ask me I suggest Rogers and y/n go." He adds.
"Fuck off Stark." You roll your eyes.
"Actually based on my calculations the most favorable pairing for this mission is Captain Steve Rogers and Miss Y/n Y/l/n." Vision says. It's the first thing he's said the whole meeting, you'd almost forgotten he was in the room.
"What?" You scoff.
"No." Steve says at the same time.
"Vis, you might want to recalculate that one because the only thing we are most favorable for is driving each other crazy." You cross your arms.
"Miss Romanova is the only other member of the team as skilled in this area as you y/n, however, the chances of her being recognized are higher as you fight with a mask and she does not. Similarly, as Mr. Barnes has explained, his reputation as the Winter Soldier proceeds him, and it is an unnecessary risk to send him. Mr. Stark also has quite the reputation and I am a synthezoid that would also draw attention, leaving Captain Rogers the least conspicuous partner for you."
"And Wanda or Sam?" You ask.
"It is my understanding that Sam will be indisposed during part of the proposed timeframe and Wanda lacks proficiency in the skillset needed to successfully pull this off. It would be nothing short of foolish to test her undercover capabilities with such a high-stakes mission." Vision says.
"Fine." You relent. "I'll go undercover with Rogers if you insist it is the most advantageous option." You grumble.
"I can't believe this is happening." Steve shakes his head.
"When do we leave?" You ask.
"Tomorrow at noon."
"Feels a little short noticed for an extended mission don't you think?" You frown.
"I'm sorry will that be an inconvenience to your schedule?" The question is dripping with sarcasm.
"It's got fuck all to do with my schedule and everything to do with the protocol that this doesn't follow."
"What do you know about protocol?" Steve scoffs. You stand up sharply.
"First of all I've been going on missions for longer than you've been active in the 21st century secondly I've been on this team long enough to know there are protocols we follow for these things."
"Extenuating circumstances required us  to work around protocol because we can't waste time."
"And that's all you had to say but instead you wanted to be petty and make me seem like a spoiled brat because I asked a valid question! Maybe nobody else will bother because it's not their mission but since I have to leave I sure as hell will question things as necessary."
"Or don't. You have your directives. You could try just following them."
"You would do well to remember, Captain, I am not one of your little soldiers. Around here we don't just blindly follow orders. I've watched that shit get people killed too many times."
"Alright let's all just calm-"
"I will see you on the launch pad tomorrow at noon. If you need me before then, don't." You cut off whatever Sam was going to say. You grab your briefing folder and storm out of the room angrily. It's not long after that Wanda and Natasha come into your room where you're shoving clothes into your duffle bag angrily.
"So, how do you plan to play husband and wife with someone that makes you want to commit a crime every time he speaks?"
"I'm gonna act. As if my life depends on it. Because it kinda does." You sigh. "Look I'm going to do my job and I will do it well, personal feelings aside. What do you even pack for a fake honeymoon in Europe?"
"Lingerie."
"Natasha!" You glare at her.
"Not for use, but if somebody ends up in your bags you want it to look like you're on honeymoon with a man you love, so a couple pairs of cute underwear couldn't hurt." She explains with a shrug.
"Honestly I think you should try to make a connection with him on some level. Find common ground to make this mission easier on you both. It would be good for the team in the future as well." Wanda says.
"No thank you." You shake your head.
"Wanda you're a genius I'm texting Sam." Natasha says.
"No. Why would you do that?" You frown.
"He's friends with Steve, maybe he'll have some insight on how to keep you from killing each other before you return." Natasha says.
"Dude I'm just trying to pack!" You huff.
"And we're trying to make sure any injuries sustained on this mission are not a result of infighting." She shrugs.
"I would never jeopardize a mission that way and you know that Nat." You point at her. Your door swings open again and Sam comes strolling in with Bucky in tow.
"Alright what're the girls gettin up to?" He asks.
"That took you a concerningly short amount of time to get here." You mutter.
"I brought Bucky too." Sam says.
"Why?"
"Well I figured this was gonna have to do with Steve and since he's the certified record-holding pal of our captain- couldn't hurt to have his input." Sam shrugs.
"I am just trying to pack and these two are in here chatting away. So join the party I guess." You mutter tossing more things on your bed.
"How long do you think you two will be gone?" Wanda asks.
"Hopefully no more than a week, but I'll pack enough for a couple days longer than that. Plus I know how to wash my clothes." You shrug.
"Anyway! Guys, we think y/n could benefit from finding some common ground with Steve and who better to ask than his boys!" Natasha explains to them.
"'We' being her and Wanda I have no interest in any of this actually." You clarify.
"Steve is- not a complex man." Bucky shrugs.
"No not complex just exasperating." You roll your eyes.
"Is there- a particular reason why you hate him so much?" Sam asks with a smirk.
"I don't hate him-"
"EURIKA!" He gasps and you shoot a confused look at him.
"You don't hate him?" Bucky hums.
"If I hated him nothing Vision said in that meeting room would convince me to do this mission. I don't even know if I'd be on the team with him if I felt that strongly about him." You explain. "Rogers is just such a stiff. He sees the world in a specific way and expects most things to adhere to that worldview. When they don't he gets naggy. It's aggravating."
"So, just to clarify; you do not hate him." Sam says.
"No. I don't. He's just boring and we don't get along because I don't like boring people and the way he talks to me is fucking rude. As if it's my fault that he's insipid." You scoff.
"Honestly that- feels like a start." Bucky nods.
"A start for what, exactly? I'm not the problem. We can't find common ground if he's not willing to lighten up."
"I mean if you're together for an entire week he can't be stuffy the entire time, right?" Sam shrugs.
"I don't care if he's stuffy the whole time. It's not a vacation. We don't need to have fun being a fake couple." You say.
"Honestly I think this mission will be good for your relationship with Steve. We're all on a team it's not good for you to fight with him all the time." Wanda says.
"This is feeling oddly intervention-like. Save it y'all, I just want to do my job and bring in this hydra creep." You say.
"It's not meant to be interventional, we just want to make this easier for you." She sighs.
"I don't really need it to be easier but I appreciate the attempt. Sammy, Bucky go about your business please and thank you." You sigh folding the last of your clothes and shoving them in your large travel duffle.
"Good luck this week lady." Bucky nudges you before tugging Sam out of your room.
"Are you kicking us out too?" Natasha smirks.
"At this point I should, but you don't listen anyway." You roll your eyes. You toss your travel toiletries bag into the duffle and couple of other travel essentials, a book, your mission suit, and some extra combat equipment, things of that nature and by the time you're done packing you, Wanda, and Nat have made plans for dinner later in the evening.
~*~*~
When you wake up the next morning you put on a sundress, chosen by Wanda who insisted if you were going to convince anyone you're on a honeymoon you need to look like you would on a date. After a nice breakfast, you grab your duffle from your room and stroll out to the helipad where Steve is already waiting with his arms crossed.
"You're late." Steve grunts as you approach.
"No I'm not. You said we leave at noon. It's noon now."
"We leave at noon means get here before."
"I told you I'd meet you here at noon. You can complain about the semantics of my arrival all you want but you're wasting the time you're so upset about me not adhering to." You say walking past him to get into the quinjet taking you into Europe. Steve stomps onto the jet behind you joining you at the front of the jet. You try not to laugh at the deep frown on his face as he prepares you for takeoff.
"We'll land in Italy where a truck is loaded up for us to take the rest of the way to our first town, and we'll be using the truck to get from town to town." Steve tells you.
"Yeah sure." You mutter grabbing your briefing file to read over again. You always read the information more than once to find anything valuable.
"Did you not- read the whole file yet?" He glances in your direction.
"Of course I did. I'm rereading. We've got like six hours to kill on this jet." You roll your eyes. You feel his gaze on you as you read but you ignore it and eventually he turns his attention back to the controls of the jet. It's in autopilot now but you're sure he'll spend the entire flight glaring at the instruments to make sure nothing goes wrong.
Once you land, you shove the folder into the bottom of your duffle and sling the bag over your shoulder beating Steve to the three agents meeting you at the landing site.
"Hello miss y/l/n." One of them nods to you.
"Hi y'all." You smile at her.
"This will be your transportation for the duration of your trip. There are supplies and gear tucked under the backseat and a radio to contact us if necessary in the center console and your passports are in the glove box." The same agent details to you, pointing to a silver fiat pickup truck. When Steve joins you one of the other agents tosses him the keys.
"We're good to go?" Steve asks the first agent.
"All set, like I was telling miss y/l/n there's emergency supplies and a radio stashed in the vehicle and your destinations are programmed into the GPS system." She nods.
"Is that such a good idea?" You ask with a frown.
"The truck is Stark tech it only says fiat to blend in because they're common in Italy but, nobody's gonna be able to track you with it, or even plot your route. It's biometrically activated." She explains.
"That's better." You nod. You throw your bag into the back of the truck and climb into the passenger seat. You grab your passport out of the glovebox the name on it says Alissa Rogers and Steve's says Grant.
"We'll be in touch." Steve nods one last time before loading his stuff in and settling into the driver's side. He pulls off quickly and you watch as the scenery changes the further you drive towards the small town you'll be staying in.
"Hope you brushed up on your Italian. You're less likely to find English speakers in the countryside like this." You say opening a snack you'd brought along in case you got hungry before you could get food.
"Tony assured me the place he booked was tourist friendly." Steve mumbles.
"I mean sure but what if you have to talk to the locals? Or will that be up to me?"
"As if you speak Italian." He scoffs.
"I speak several languages actually. Side effect of being trained to be an international spy." You shrug and Steve doesn't have a rebuttal for that so he focuses on driving and you munch away on your snacks. A short while later you make it to the small inn you'll be staying at. It's cozy looking, exactly what you'd expect for the town you drove into. It looks like the kind of place where most of the people know each other. With your bag tossed across your back, you follow Steve into the inn where he grabs the attention of the woman at the desk.
"Excuse me, hi we're looking to check in. We have a reservation. Should be under Rogers, first name Grant." Steve says smoothly with a charming smile.
"Oh yes you booked a honeymoon package!" The woman gushes happily as she types away at her keyboard. You have to refrain from reacting when she says that. Looks like it's showtime.
"Yeah we just got married, we're traveling through Europe for our honeymoon." You tell her with a fake dreamy look on your face. You even wrap your hands around Steve's arm affectionately.
"Oooo traveling through Europe! Sounds so exciting and romantic." The woman beams.
"It has been so far! We're still very early into our plans but, so far it's been everything I've dreamed of and more." You sigh softly. The woman lets out a barely there squeal about how cute you are and how lovely newlyweds tend to be before sliding your room keys onto the desk.
"Here are your keys cara mia! Try to rest if he allows." She winks at you and you laugh although the innuendo in her statement makes Steve stiffen beside you.
"Grazie! Oh! Do you have any food suggestions, we've been driving for a while to get here." You ask her.
"Ah most people cook around here but there's Nino's! It's the best place nearby. I'll give you the address." She quickly scribbles the address onto some spare paper she has at the desk and hands it to you.
"Thanks so much, ma'am. Have a good night." Steve finally finds his voice to bid the kind nonna farewell before leading you off with a hand at your back.
"Oh what a sweet old lady." You smile as you walk up the stairs to find your room.
"You settled into the lovestruck newlywed thing very quick." Steve observes.
"Well yeah, this isn't my first rodeo and honestly hopelessly in love is not even close to the hardest part I've had to play on a mission." You scoff.
"Clearly, you're very good at this."
"Yeah that's probably why Vision thought I'd be best for the job." You shrug unlocking your room and tossing your bag to the side.
"There's- only one bed." Steve points out with wide eyes.
"Of course there is. We're supposed to be a newlywed couple on our honeymoon, why would we have a room with two beds?"
"Well I can call down for extra blankets and set up on the floor or-"
"Don't be ridiculous. If you want to sleep in the bed it's king sized, I'm sure we can manage to share." You scoff.
"I just figured it'd be easier if we-"
"It's not a big deal to me Rogers, the main thing is if someone like came to the door and saw pillows and blankets set up on the floor it would hurt the hopelessly devoted story we're trying to sell."
"Hopelessly devoted?" He frowns.
"It's a song from Grease, an old 70s movie. Don't worry about it. Point is, it'll be odd if anyone sees you set up on the floor. Unless you prefer sleeping on straight wood." You shrug.
"I don't." He frowns.
"So don't make it a thing. Which by the way, you kept Rogers for this mission?"
"Yeah, Tony figured it was common enough that it wouldn't matter. Grant's my middle name."
"Hm, interesting. Well, I'm Alissa, apparently. Should we check out that restaurant the nonna suggested?"
"You feel like going to dinner?"
"I mean she said most folks around here cook so tomorrow I'll hit some of the street stands and you can try asking around subtly for any information on our target."
"Shouldn't you do the asking around? I mean what happens when I end up talking to someone that doesn't speak English?"
"You can introduce them to your gorgeous Italian speaking wife, or hope they have nothing important to say." You shrug. "I think you can handle it. You coming with me to get something to eat or not dude?"
"Uh yeah I guess."
The two of you have a semi awkward dinner playing the happy in love couple for anyone that walks pass while not really talking to each other. When you return to your room you take turns showering and getting ready for bed without saying a word to each other.
"Do you care what side you sleep on?" Steve eventually asks.
"Not particularly."
"Then I will take the side by the door. If that's okay?" Steve suggests.
"If that's what you want. Sure." You shrug tossing the comforter back and getting under it on your designated side. Why he's acting so awkward about the whole thing makes no sense to you but honestly most of his actions make no sense to you. Curled up on one side of the bed you quickly fall asleep, all the travel has certainly tired you out.
Light peaking through the curtain slowly pulls you from sleep in the morning. As you gain consciousness you get more aware of a weight across your body. A weight that doesn't move even as you shift in bed. It's an arm, attached to a body, that's apparently close enough that you can feel the heat radiating from it and the realization makes you scramble out of bed so suddenly you wake Steve too.
"You don't strike me as a cuddly sleeper Rogers." You clip. You can see in his eyes that he's struggling for a response but you grab your duffle and rush into the bathroom before he can find one. You get yourself together and leave pretty quickly with a comment to Steve about making sure he does what you agreed on when he gets on with his day.
With a tote in hand, you scan the different stands in town stopping to buy various produce and things. By the time you'd settled in yesterday and doubled back out for dinner most of the town had gone quiet, it's nice to see everyone out now and survey things. When you're looking at some bracelets at one shop, you overhear a conversation between the woman behind the counter and someone sitting off to the side near her. They're speaking in Italian but you clearly catch one of them gushing about the increase in handsome foreigners in their small town. You giggle a bit, loud enough for them to notice.
"Excuse me, I don't mean to interject." You smile apologetically, speaking to them in Italian. "I just caught the last bit of your conversation and well, I take it you've met my husband is all."
"The American is your husband?" One of them gasps.
"Yes he is. Was he here?" You ask her.
"Briefly, he said he was looking for 'trinkets' for friends." The one behind the counter says to you. She says trinkets in English with a confused scrunch of her nose.
"Sounds like him. Do you see a lot of Americans here?" You ask.
"No not Americans often. There was a really handsome German here a couple of days ago." She shakes her head.
"German? Really?" You blink.
"Oh yeah, I remember him. He was tall and thin with a beard and big round glasses and his eyes were bright, almost yellow." The seated woman says.
"Yeah! He didn't talk much but he was much friendlier by the time he left and he spoke with a heavy accent." The lady behind the register adds.
"Was he here long?"
"Probably around 3 weeks." The woman at the register says.
"Did he say where he was going?"
"Well he asked me where the next town to us was, even had me point it out on a map." She tells you.
"Interesting. Must be nice to see new faces sometimes. I'll take these two bracelets." You say placing two items on the counter. With all that chatting you definitely need to buy something before leaving, plus they're so cute you're sure Wanda will love them. The woman checks you out and after a bit more looking around, you head back to your hotel. There's a kitchen on the main floor that you can use to prepare food since that's the norm, plus with this information you'll probably be on your way in the morning. When you return to your room, Steve isn't there, which is fine, you take advantage of the empty suite to take a long hot shower. Eventually you step out and put on lotion before stepping out into the room to grab your clothes.
"You take incredibly long showers." Steve's voice makes you jump as you notice him at the desk in the corner.
"Holy fucking hell." You hiss clutching your chest.
"Forgot you shared this room?"
"No, you weren't here when I got back, hence the long shower, and I didn't realize you were back." You huff, using your towel as a cover you pull on your underwear and shorts. Steve's head is focused on whatever he's reading over at the desk so you let the towel drop to put on your sleep shirt with your back to him.
"You should really pay better attention to your surroundings." Steve mutters.
"Fuck off." You scoff.
"I'm just saying you should totally have noticed I was in here before I spoke."
"Who cares man? Did you find anything interesting out today?"
"Not much, I talked to some guys about visitors but none of them had a lot to say, just that sometimes they come."
"Well I heard a German man was here for around three weeks before asking for directions to the next town over."
"Really? Where did you hear that?"
"Some women in a jewelry store."
"And you think this is legit?"
"I mean it's just street gossip so I don't have a way to verify really but it's definitely a promising lead."
"You're sure it's the right man? I mean 'a German' doesn't exactly scream Müller was here."
"Well I couldn't slap a photo in front of them and ask for clarification but they described him as tall and thin with a beard and big round glasses and bright 'almost yellow' eyes. I dunno I'd say that's a pretty close match if you ask me."
"You found information pretty quickly."
"There are very few things that transcend language, borders, gender et cetera, one of them is that people like to gossip. You find the right people and ask the right questions they will tell you any and everything."
"Then we need to move."
"In the morning."
"Why would we not move now? We have a lead we shouldn't let it go cold."
"If the women from the shop were telling the truth chances are he'll be there a couple weeks before we have to worry about him moving. I think we can afford to start fresh in the morning. Plus we don't have a plan. If we move now it's impulsive and foolish."
"We have a plan, find this guy and apprehend him."
"That's not a plan that's an objective. How do we find him Rogers? And how do we move when we do find him? Are you implying we just tackle him in the middle of town if that's where we see him? I mean even a half-baked skeleton of an idea is better than absolutely nothing." You roll your eyes.
"Do you have a plan you'd like to propose?" He glares at you.
"No, that's why I'm saying we wait til morning. So we have time to come up with one. He's probably going to be there for a couple weeks, we have 8 hours to spare."
"You don't know that."
"Obviously I don't, but he doesn't know we're looking for him he has no reason to rush out of there. If he was here for 3 weeks why would he leave there in 2 days?"
"Fine! We will leave tomorrow morning. Bright and early. 8am."
"Yes sir, drill sergeant." You say with a mock salute. "I'm going to make food downstairs, would you like some?"
"Trying to poison me?"
"If I were, you wouldn't know until it was too late." You smile.
"In that case, I'll pass."
"Suit yourself. If you wanna make yourself something, there are more groceries." You shrug grabbing a few things you need before leaving the room. You make yourself dinner and sit in the lobby to eat, chatting with the woman at the desk, it's the same nonna who checked you in so you offer her some food while you talk. Eventually, you head back up to your room where Steve is still hunched over the desk.
"Okay. So when we get there tomorrow we need to focus on finding him while keeping a low profile so we can figure out the most effective way to apprehend him." Steve says.
"Do we have an extraction plan?"
"I mean I've thought of a couple ways to go about it, if he's in a lodging situation, like this one, we should try for stealth. Moving at night would be the safest choice, to minimize the likelihood of civilian endangerment. If he's staying somewhere alone, apprehension isn't super important, if he's staying somewhere with someone I'd say again stealth is-"
"That's fine I guess but not at all what I meant. Do we have a plan for getting us and him back to the US? Because this was expected to take at least a week and at this rate, we'll be ready to move in like half that time."
"I... will contact the team when we're on the road in the morning and we'll plan our apprehending around how quickly they can mobilize." Steve says.
"Good." You say crawling into bed with a book. You put on music and read quietly while Steve does, who knows what at the desk. He eventually gets up and shuffles into the bathroom. You hear the shower running for a while before he comes out in shorts, using a towel to dry his hair. You barely glance up from your novel as he pads around the room. You don't speak with Steve for the rest of the night. You read, and he does whatever he does until you both eventually turn in at different times.
The next morning you wake to the sound of shuffling around you and when you open your eyes Steve is darting around the room.
"Good. You're awake. Get up and get ready so we can leave." Steve says curtly.
"What's the matter Stevie? Not much of a morning person?" You snark back without getting out of bed.
"I looked it up, the drive we're in for is almost four hours. The sooner we get on the road the better so we can actually get this done. Which means I need you to get up so we can get out of here."
"Sounds to me like you need a Snickers." You snort.
"Excuse me?" His head snaps to you with narrowed eyes.
"A snickers, you know, the candy bar- their slogan is 'you're not you when you're hungry' I'm making a joke about you being cranky- I cannot believe I just had to explain that to you. You really are a grumpy old man, you'd give Scrooge a run for his money sheesh." You scoff, finally pushing yourself out of bed.
"Are you just going to make silly pop culture references all day?" He rolls his eyes.
"Who knew you'd be such a Grinch so early."
"So that's a yes? The Grinch is a Christmas movie."
"So is Scrooge but they're grumpy all year round it's just worse around the holidays. Which begs the question, is the attitude just for little ol me, or does the Italian countryside always make you this prickly?" You smirk.
"Just. Get. Dressed." He says through clenched teeth. You roll your eyes at his grumbly attitude and grab your clothes to change in the bathroom.
"There's some fruit amongst the groceries by the way. I suggest you have one, might put some pep in your step." You taunt before shutting your bathroom door.
"It won't be so bad! Maybe you'll find a way to connect with him! Steve's not a complex man." You mock all your friends in the mirror as you put yourself together. "Complex?! God, I wish! He's about as complex as a cardboard box with half the personality. Honestly if only he were complex that'd be so much easier." You rant to yourself. "Thank the stars the universe practically dropped this guy's location in our lap because there is no way I'd survive a week with this guy." You grumble. You change your clothes and brush your teeth letting out one more deep breath before leaving the bathroom.
"Alright. Ready to go when you are." You say tossing your things into your bag and zipping it up.
"Good. Let's go." Steve grabs his bag and practically storms out of your hotel room without a second thought. You pick up your duffle and what's left of the produce you brought and trot down to the lobby where Steve's already checking you out.
"Hello!" You smile at the woman behind the desk.
"Hello darling! So sad to see you go so soon!" She smiles at you.
"We'd love to stay longer but there's so much to see and not nearly enough hours of our trip." You say wrapping your arm around Steve's and resting your head on his shoulder dreamily "Isn't that right Grant?" You sigh.
"Yeah! We've got so many plans! But the stay here has been lovely." Steve says smiling at you with kindness that even you almost believe is sincere. It makes you want to put ten feet between you and you have to force yourself not to react outwardly. With one last goodbye to the woman at the counter, you and Steve leave the hotel and load your things into your truck. As soon as Steve starts driving he uses the communication system to contact Tony.
"Rogers. Status report?"
"We have a lead that we're following and need to know how quickly we can be extracted from Italy if we've successfully located the target." Steve tells him.
"Have you located the target?" Tony asks.
"I spoke to a woman that says she gave our target directions to another town over so we suspect he'll be there." You interject.
"What if he's moved?" Tony asks.
"Well based on what the woman said, he was around for a few weeks before he left so I think it's safe to say he's likely still there." You say.
"We can extract you as quickly as tonight if you're able to apprehend the target."
"That would be-"
"Too soon. Can you plan for an extraction tomorrow morning?" You cut Steve off and he shoots you a glare momentarily.
"Tomorrow morning?" Tony clarifies.
"Yes. Assuming our lead is correct we'll be ready to go early in the morning." You say.
"Yeah sure. We'll get you a jet and leave it in a holding pattern. Say, 6am?" Tony asks.
"That should give us enough time. If something changes we'll let you know." You say. Tony mumbles an affirmative before disconnecting and you put your headphones on for the remainder of the drive with your head in your book. When the four hour drive ends and Steve pulls up to where you'll be staying you push open the door and hop out of the truck. Steve sorts out your room with the owner of the small hotel you're staying in and practically slams the door when you're in your room.
"Why would you tell Tony to set us up for tomorrow and not tonight? If they could be ready tonight we should take tonight!"
"I thought we were on the same mission but it appears that you are somewhere else because we don't even know where this man is. We just got here and even if we walked outside and saw him right now we can't exactly snatch him in the middle of the day. What happened to that spiel about 'stealth to minimize the likelihood of endangering civilians'? If they plan to extract us tonight that is not a reasonable timeframe and I'm sure you know that. You're just picking fights for no reason." You roll your eyes. Not to mention he waited hours to bring it back up- who stews this long over a departure time?
"Eight hours seems like a pretty reasonable timeframe for me. My fault for overestimating your capabilities."
"If you think I couldn't do this shit in eight hours you're smoking. On my own, I'd have no problem with an eight hour timeline but we are not the team that can be rushing into a mission like this when we don't know what the details are. Honestly Rogers whatever your fucking problem is table it. We have someone to find and we're pretty far from the landing pad so we need to be done and on our way in like twelve hours. I am going to start tracking down our target so we can actually arrest this guy. Skulk in here if you want." You grab your sunglasses and (mostly prop) tote bag and leave Steve in your room. You can't fathom why Steve is annoyed that you asked for a few extra hours to make sure you can actually complete this mission but that's his problem. The sun feels nice on your skin as you walk around surveying people from behind your big sunglasses. When you walk into a small cafe after some time and scan the few customers you almost miss the face you've memorized from your briefing file. He's sitting in a corner eating with a newspaper. You order something small to not raise suspicion and eat it quickly before exiting the shop. There are lots of places to give you a vantage point of the cafe's entrance so you pick one and wait out of sight for Müller to come out. Eventually, he strolls out of the cafe and turns left so carefully, using buildings as cover, you follow Müller for some time. He doesn't stop anywhere until he comes to a small house at basically the edge of town. You watch the house for a while hoping that he'll leave for you to check it out a bit closer. When it starts to pass a half hour you ruffle through your tote for one of the random prototype gadets Tony's always giving you to test out. One of the things is a little box holding a buglike device. You remember him explaining this one, it's supposed to do surveillance. You open the box and turn it on, feeling your phone vibrate in your pocket indicating it's connected. You locate an open window and release the camera bug towards Müller's house, making sure it gets inside before heading back to your hotel to make a plan.
"What have you been doing for the last two hours?" Steve asks as soon as you walk back into your room.
"Tracking Müller. Like I said I would. Did you just sit and sulk?"
"No." Steve glares. "Did you find him?"
"Yes I did. It looks like he's staying alone too." You say passing your phone to Steve for him to see the footage from the bug camera.
"Wait you planted a camera?"
"I saw him in town and followed him til he ended up at this house. Then I used one Tony's little doodads. It's a camera the size of a bug that can fly like one too."
"So you know where this is?"
"Yes I do. It's practically at the edge of town. We should have no problem getting to him later."
"Okay." He nods. "Alright so here's what we'll do. We'll track him with this camera til nightfall and then we'll go get him. It should be quick, sneak in knock him out and get him loaded into the truck."
"Yeah okay." You nod, taking your phone back from Steve. Periodically you check the camera bug that follows Müller around his temporary home over the next several hours. Just before the sun goes down, you notice something odd when you're checking the footage. Müller's moving frantically about, it looks like- he's packing.
"Müller's on the move." You say grabbing the keys to the truck and rushing out of your hotel. Steve runs out behind you.
"Y-Alissa wait!" Steve calls as you start the truck and he almost doesn't get in quick enough as you pull away. "Geez y/n where's the fire?" He asks.
"It looks very much like Müller is about to get the hell outta dodge. We need to move now." You say.
"Wait a second this is very much not what we were planning to-"
"Yeah well that's gonna have to change the man is packing his bags as we speak."
"Are you sure that's what you saw I mean-"
"Rogers argue with me later." You grumble out. Driving, the trip to Müller's is much shorter and you're there in only a few minutes. You hop out immediately even as Steve calls for you to give it a minute. No way are you letting him get away when he's right here. You burst into the small home, that's really just one room and shock the man inside so hard he almost trips. He's quick to get his barings though and lunges at you, grabbing a kitchen knife on his way towards you. You dodge him pretty easily even though he weilds the knife much better than you'd expect of a labcoat. He manages a couple scratches before disarm him and take him down with a plate to the head.
"Dammit y/n. I told you to wait." Steve grits out angrily as you drag Müller towards the truck that's still running.
"What's the big deal? We got our guy." You shrug, folding Müller into the backseat awkwardly."
"Maybe you were too busy charging like a bull to notice that we've drawn attention." He hisses.
"So let's hit the fucking road." You roll your eyes and climb into the passenger seat of the car. Steve lets out an angry huff but gets in the driver side and begins your trip back to the launch pad in central Italy. It'll take you most of the night to get there but you let Tony know to expedite the jet since you'll definitely be there before 6am. At some point, you have to sedate Müller when he starts to groan in the back seat. By the time you make it to the launch pad, agents are waiting with the jet.
"Agent y/l/n, Captain Rogers. Welcome back." One of the agents nods at you both when you exit the truth.
"Hey Jackson. Müller's in the backseat- mind grabbing him for me?" You smile as you tug your duffle out of the car.
"Of course." He nods opening the back door and hauling Müller's still unconscious body from the truck to the jet with ease.
"I could've handled that." Steve says to you.
"Who cares? I probably could've handled it too but we have bags to grab and the fewer trips the better." You roll your eyes.
"The jet's fueled and prepped for takeoff and our reports indicate clear weather so it should be smooth travels." Agent Jackson says to you, although Steve is likely going to monopolize flying.
"Thanks. Then I guess we'll be off." You say heading onto the jet. You toss your bag down and take a moment to secure Müller to the seat he's in at the back of the jet while Steve talks to the agents for a few minutes before following you into the aircraft.
"Make sure he's secure." Steve tosses at you as he passes.
"No shit Sherlock." You roll your eyes, getting into your seat up front next to him and strapping yourself in as he prepares to fly.
"If he wakes midair we don't wanna worry about him ambushing us."
"First of all what're the chances that guy would even be able to take us both? Secondly, I'm not an idiot, he's chained to that seat. Even if he wakes up he's not going anywhere." You scoff.
"To your question; better safe than sorry."
"Yeah whatever." You mutter.
"Not whatever, in fact, speaking of, you were extremely reckless last night." Steve says sternly.
"I was instinctive."
"Oh please. You rushed over there without a plan, ignored my instructions, and charged in carelessly. What if he was armed? Not to mention the fact that people noticed that something was going on. You could've gotten somebody hurt."
"First of all he was armed technically and as you can see, not a scratch on me so can it. You saw just as well as I did that he was packing his things Rogers, the man was about ready to flee and we could not lose him."
"We had a plan-"
"Plans change Rogers its not the end of the world."
"It is when you put people at risk dang it. If you had just followed-"
"If I didn't move when I did we could've missed our chance entirely. He wouldn't be here if I followed 'the plan' that didn't account for a frantic relocation of our target. I made sure the mission got done and the only person at risk was myself which would be the case regardless because that comes with the territory."
"You-"
"God are you two married or something?" Müller's voice shocks you even as you and Steve respond immediately.
"NO!" You shout together.
"You argue like a couple." Müller muses.
"You are so very wrong about that assumption." You scoff.
"Well I was only pointing out-"
"Don't. As a matter of fact if you speak again Müller you'll spend the remainder of this flight strapped to the outside of the jet like a cannoe."
"Can you even do that?"
"Do you really wanna find out?" You glare at him. That effectively shuts him up and cuts your argument with Steve short so the rest of your flight is flown in silence. When you land, it's you who unchains Müller from his seat and puts him cuffs to drag him out of the jet.
"Thank God that's over, the tension between you and the obstinate man was getting unbearable." Müller says.
"Whatever you were sensing was not tension. We barely get along." You roll your eyes.
"Does he know that?"
"Excuse me?"
"When you aren't paying attention he looks at you as if you're responsible for the stars in the sky."
"Those glasses of yours must be the wrong prescription." You scoff.
"You may think me many things but a fool should never be one. You might not agree but some things are easier to observe as an outsider."
"When it comes to people I'd take advice from a Nazi scientist is absolutely not on the list so please save it." You say.
"Y/n! We'll take him from here." An agent grabs your attention as you make it to the building. The walk from the helipad has never felt so long.
"Consider what I said." Müller says as he's dragged off.
"What he said?" Steve frowns from behind you.
"Just- mindless blathering." You grumble walking off to your room. You are not about to let some idiot you just met with no idea who you are get in your head about something he absolutely does not understand.
"Y/N! YOU'RE BACK!" Wanda bursts into your room just after you've closed he door.
"You are- always the first to find me." You chuckle as she throws her arms around you.
"I missed you so much! I almost called you like five times."
"Wanda I was only gone for like four days." You laugh.
"And the HBIC has returned." Natasha strolls in and sits on your bed.
"Hello to you too Nat." You chuckle.
"So? How was it?" Wanda asks.
"Well I didn't shove a dagger between his shoulderblades." You shrug and Natasha laughs.
"Oh come on, that can't be all you've got to say." Wanda scoffs.
"Honestly Wanda not stabbing him in the spine is a pretty raving review for a mission where I had to pretend to be his honeymooning wife."
"Did you even have to play the loving couple?" Natasha asks.
"Well when we got to the first place the woman checking us in was a lovely old Italian woman who was very interested in the fact that we were honeymooning so around her we did have to do the hand holding and dreamy sighing for her sake." You shrug.
"You made it back pretty quickly." Natasha points out.
"I'm efficient." You shrug.
"What does that mean?" Wanda asks.
"It means I tracked down Müller with the help of some gossiping women in town and good old fashion espionage then I made sure he didn't get away once we found him by apprehending him when I realized he was definitely about to vacate. Much to Steve's dismay apparently."
"His dismay?" Wanda frown.
"He lectured me twice because we had a plan and I had to make a change last minute when I saw the guy frantically packing his bags on our little surveillance bug."
"Wait so what was his problem?" Natasha frowned.
"We had a plan and I couldn't follow it. If I'd listened to him we totally would've lost Müller all together. He just hates when he's not the one calling the shots. It's like any decision I make that's not his idea is wrong. I know I said I don't hate him but man does he make it hard to believe that."
"The way you butt heads- I can't believe you made it home and in four days no less." Nat shakes her head.
"Like I said I'm efficient. And personal feelings will never stop me from completing a mission. You can say lots of things about me but you'd be lying if you said I don't do my job well." You shrug. A knock on your doorframe grabs your attention to find Steve standing in the still open doorway of your bedroom.
"Hi Nat, Wanda." He nods to them.
"Welcome back Steve!" Wanda waves.
"Hey Rogers." Natasha nods.
"Y/n, we need to talk." Steve says looking at you.
"If you're going to complain again about me not sticking to your plan save your breath. I have better things to do and if you have that much free time I suggest you follow my example and find a better way to spend it." You roll your eyes.
"It's not that."
"Then what do you want?"
"Alone, please." Steve glances at Natasha and Wanda who look at you.
"Go. I'll talk to you later girls." You tell them and they quickly slip out of your room. "Make it quick Rogers I just spent 4 days with you and I think that is plenty for us for a while."
"What Müller was saying-"
"On the jet? He's an idiot, who cares? As if anyone with sense would assume we're married the way we argue." You scoff.
"Not on the jet. After we landed. His, 'mindless blathering' as you put it."
"Are you expecting a play by play of that conversation because it was so inconsequential I've already forgotten most of it-"
"I heard him. My hearing is- better than average so, I know what he said."
"So did you just ask for funsies earlier?" You frown.
"Well no I just wondered what you'd say about it."
"He doesn't know either of us so I have nothing to say about it. The ramblings of some criminal are the last thing on my mind so if you've come here to tell me not to pay him attention I already wasn't-"
"You are so frustrating." Steve huffs out.
"Excuse me? What is your problem?!" You blink at him.
"My problem is you! You are my sole source of torment!"
"The fact that you are a boring bitch is not my fault! How am I the source of your torment you walking piece of styrofoam!?"
"Oh where do I begin with you?! Your smile makes my heart ache!"
"Yeah well you- wait, what?" Your eyes widen as you process his words, retort dying when you realize he didn't actually insult you.
"You walk into a room and it immediately lights up. Your laugh is better than symphonies. You are so effortlessly so amazing that you've enthralled me without trying. It's incredibly annoying." He rattles off.
"I- I'm really confused." You frown.
"Damn it y/n I'm in love with you!" He forces out. Plot twist. You totally did not see that coming.
"You're in love with me?"
"Somehow yes and everything you do makes it worse. It's infuriating to know my life is no longer mine and that is in in fact yours."
"This is the most paradoxical love confession I've ever gotten. Do you want, an apology or a date?" You ask.
"Wait- what?" Now it's his turn to give you a wide eyed stare.
"Well, you're in love with me but you seem to be very... inconvenienced by it so- should I be saying sorry or telling you to plan a date for Friday night?"
"Wait y-you'd go on a date with me?" His brow furrows.
"If you'd ask me on one."
"I thought you hated me?"
"You're critical of everything I do. So I intentionally get on your nerves. If I had known it was because you had a crush on me I might've been nicer to you. We aren't in kindergarten though Steve being mean to someone you like doesn't get you anywhere." You cross your arms.
"So- will you go on a date with me?"
"Yes I'll go on a date with you. Does Friday night work for you?"
"Friday's Perfect. I'll- let you know the details once I sort them out."
"Alright. I'm going to finish unpacking. I'll see you around." You smile.
"Kay." Steve's cheeks tinge slightly pink as he smiles at you in that shy 'you make me nervous way'.
"Anything else?" You ask when he doesn't move.
"Oh! N-no. I- I'm gonna go." He tells you.
"Okay. See ya." You chuckle as he scrambles out of your room. You can't believe you have a date with Steve Rogers. He may not be a complex man but he sure is a confusing one. To think all those times he was picking fights with you was because he had a crush- you almost hate the way it makes you giddy to think about it. But honestly who could stand a chance against a love confession like that? His life is yours?! You've never even heard him speak so dramatically before. When he came in here you said four days was more than enough time for you to spend to gehter and now well, let's just say you can't wait for Friday.

Eddie hates how quiet the trailer is. Always has. At night, with the low yellow lights, it's almost worse. Something so eerie, unsettling. And tonight is worse. The silence is almost suffocating, like a living thing scratching at his skin. He can't stand it.
"I hope you don't mind music," Eddie says loudly as he heads to his room.
He doesn't look back at Chrissy, doesn't want to make her anymore nervous than she already is. He simply flicks on the radio, turning it to a more mainstream station that plays the usual pop shit. He doesn't recognize the song playing but it has a lot of synths. It sounds horrible but it's the exact type of song that someone like Chrissy would like, plus it fills the silence. It'll have to do.
It takes him longer to find the special K than he'd like. He really should clean his room. The song that plays next is a Queen song though, so he doesn't have as much to complain about.
He skips back to the living room, grinning.
"Found it! Peaceful bliss, just moments away."
Chrissy is just… stood there. Her eyes are rolled up, making him think for a moment that she might have passed out. Probably from the anxiety. But she's still standing.
"Chrissy?" There's no response, she doesn't even twitch. Maybe she's pulling a prank? "Chrissy? Hello?" If it is a prank then maybe making her jump will make her stop; he jumps a step forward, slightly raising his voice; "Chrissy!"
Nothing. It's then that he notices, it's then that he's close enough to see- her eyes aren't just looking up, they're rolled as far back as they can go, twitching around. They're pale blue, giving her an almost ghostly look.
She isn't pranking him. Whatever is happening is something serious.
"Hey, Chrissy, wake up. Hey, hello?" He snaps his fingers, hoping the noise and proximity might help. Nothing, again. "Chrissy? Hello? Hey Chrissy-!"
The lights flicker. Not just a normal flicker, it's almost violent. He can hear the electricity spike. It's just flickering lights but something about it is terrifying. Something is very, very wrong.
"Time to wake up. Ok, hello?" He grabs her shoulders, hoping to shake her out of whatever is going on with her. "Can you hear me? Wake up, Chrissy. Chrissy, wake up! I don't like this, Chrissy! Wake up!"
The lights are still flickering, the sense that something very wrong overwhelming. Not even the chanting bridge of Radio Gaga eases any of the tension, only makes it more eerie. And nothing he's doing is working. She can't seem to hear him, or see him and even slapping her shoulders doesn't get a response.
"Chrissy? Chrissy, Chrissy, Chrissy!" He keeps repeating, gently slapping her cheeks, so overwhelmingly desperate that his chest almost aches. "Chrissy, wake up now! Chrissy! Chrissy!"
She- she floats. She starts lifting off the ground.
He backs off. Whatever is happening is so far out of his scope, so far out of his control. He can only stare, knowing he can't do anything. Whatever is happening to her is not natural. Not human.
She just stays there, hovering in his living room, eyes rolled back.
Should he pull her back down? Should he leave her floating? What happens if he does try to touch her? Is she cursed? Is something lifting her? If he tries to save her, will it kill her? Is it already killing her and it wouldn't matter anyway? Oh, shit, is he going to have to watch her die?
He has so many questions, so much uncertainty. He stands there; frozen, shaking, eyes wide.
Just when he decides that he should do something, steps forward to grab her ankle and pull her down-
Chrissy gasps. It's as though strings have been cut and she falls, hard. She yelps at the sharp impact, collapsing onto her knees. Eddie is quick to dash forward, falling to his knees too, grabbing at her shoulders again.
"Are you ok? Chrissy, shit, are you ok?!"
She whimpers, throwing her arms around his waist, clinging to him painfully tight. He wraps his arms around her too, holding on just as tight. Her sobbing is horrible, sounding so pained, but it's sound- proof that she's alive, even if she is shaken. Eddie hates how much relief it brings him.
It takes a while for her to calm down. Eddie still feels freaked out.
"Sorry," she tries to pull back.
Eddie holds onto her biceps though. "No, no, no, you don't apologize, just- what the fuck was that?"
She stares at him, conflicted. She looks down, ashamed, when he raises his eyebrows. "I've been having hallucinations. Hearing things."
"That's not what that was," Eddie quickly points out. "You were in the air. You were floating. What the fuck was that?"
"N-no, that… that wasn't real, that-"
"That was real. That was very real."
"Oh god," Chrissy whispers, beginning to tremble again. "It's just hallucinations though, it can't be real. M-maybe you were seeing things too?"
"I am stone cold sober, Chris. I wish I wasn't, I wish this was some mad hallucination, but that was real. That- fucking hell, Chrissy, I thought you were going to die! Please, please, tell me what the fuck is going on. Are you cursed?"
"Maybe. I don't know. Do you… know about curses?"
Eddie barks out a laugh, high pitched and hysterical. "In games? Sure. Whatever this thing is… it's beyond me."
"You knew put on music," Chrissy tries for a smile. "That really helped."
"Music?"
"Yeah. It was like… I could hear which way was the way out? Does that make sense?"
"Sort of. But music was the only thing that helped? Specifically music?"
"Yeah." Chrissy shifts, watching Eddie beginning to pace. "If it's a curse… is nowhere safe?"
"Or do they need to know where you are first," Eddies eyes widen. Chrissy feels her stomach drop when she comes to the same conclusion. "You need to get out of here. Shit. Come on, I'll drive you home. We can figure something out."
Chrissy takes the hand offered, hurrying to keep up with Eddies sprint. "Ok but- Eddie, home isn't safe either."
Eddie frowns, hovering at the passenger door he's holding open. "What? You think it would know you'd go there?"
"Maybe but… it's just… it's not safe."
Eddie doesn't ask. He recognizes the look on her face- he's seen it enough times in the mirror to be more than familiar. He flicks through the radio until it's on the pop station again and drives to Ricks. He goes faster than he should be and a lot less safe, if Chrissys little reactions are anything to go by, but he gets them there quickly. He knows the best place to hide his van too.
"We should stay in the boathouse," Eddie explains when he has to pull her off-course. "He keeps his radio out here, with headphones. Extra batteries too."
He digs around until he finds the radio, the headphones and the multiple packs of batteries. Chrissy is awkward and tense, but he doesn't let that distract him. He would've shoved the headphones on her if he had to.
"I'm gonna grab some blankets from inside. Stay here. No one thinks to look in here and, if this is something looking for you, it might not think to look here too. I'll be quick, promise."
"Ok."
