I feel the need to periodically remind people that Idiocracy is a eugenics movie.
One of the things that eugenicists believe is that it is bad for society when the “wrong people” breed.
The entire premise of the movie is that “stupid people” kept having kids while “smart people” didn’t have kids, and it ruined society because stupid genes propagated while smart genes died out. This is eugenics propaganda.
I know people will read this and their response will be “actually it’s satire” but the movie isn’t satirizing eugenics. It’s satirizing anti-intellectualism, and consumerism, and it proposes eugenics as a solution.
When eugenics was first conceived, it was used as a way to justify inequality. The idea was that people who held privilege were able to do so because they were smarter and genetically superior to lazy and stupid people who don’t have privilege. Obviously this is bad and wrong, but it is also the core lesson of Idiocracy.
The movie literally ends with the main character becoming president and having “the smartest children in the world.” Because he and his wife have smarter genes than everyone else. The proposed solution for the things that Idiocracy is satirizing is for the smart people to have children that can be in charge of the world.
I know it’s fun to use this movie to dunk on anti-intellectualism and the MAGA movement, but we need to stop. When you quote and reference this movie you are spreading eugenics propaganda.

The darkness said, You die whether you risk anything or not. I emptied ashes from my pockets. I crawled to feel the stones cut my knees, God's foot on my throat. The dream said, Follow me. The angel said, You're here.

My first ever Astrology Observation ✨
(so please be kind! 🫶🏼🧿)
🎟️ I realize it is now officially Leo season (happy birthday Leo babies!!🦁) and I’d like to point out that Leo risings (and moons to a lesser extent) tend to exude more of that regal energy more naturally than Leo suns honestly. Like their presences alone attract attention, and not the other way around.
🎟️ honorary mention for astrological positions that naturally attract attention and notoriety are heavy Capricorn placements. ♑️ Cap also rules the 10th house in zodiac which is literally the house of career, legacy and who we aim to become in the material world in this lifetime. So anyone with any of these placements in their chart are no stranger to attention…whether good or bad depends on other aspects in your chart. (I.e. Queen Elizabeth II)
🎟️Gemini energy at its absolute evolved is HIGHLY spiritual and cosmically connected! Look for Gemini degrees in your chart that can highlight this also! (example: my Scorpio sun is at the 15th degree and I’m a medium that can commune with spirits. Gemini rules communication thanks to Mercury!)
🎟️following on qualities celebrated by the sun, those with an Aries Sun are exalted by the sun as Aries thrives there. My little brother is an Aries Sun and was exalted as the favorite by my mother. Lololol they can naturally thrive in the spotlight and thus be accustomed to being the center of attention. Aries are the infants of the zodiac so they naturally require a lot of attention! Especially the Aries suns.
🎟️I know the 6th house highlights the work place and health/routines etc. but if positively aspected with planets like the sun and Jupiter can point to massive success and wealth.
🎟️multiple 4th house placements are also a low key fame indicator! And ancestral inheritance (spiritual or material).
🎟️a lot of royalty have heavy Scorpio influence in their chart or 12th house placements; I guess this points to them being “hidden” from the rest of the world and in their own world. Scorpio also represents power and concealed power at that.
🎟️in sidereal astrology folks with revati moons tend to have rocky childhoods but are DIVINELY guided and protected. This guidance only gets stronger with time and are known for their spiritual wealth and boon. Can also indicate massive wealth later in life. They’ll always be nourished by the universe. 💫
🎟️Gemini risings are literally the social butterflies of the zodiac and you can’t convince me otherwise. They literally have never meet a stranger and can navigate almost any social situation with ease!
🎟️I’ve noticed that both placidus AND whole sign systems are equally effective in chart analysis. Especially if you have placements on the cusp of another house! For example, I’m a 12th house stellium in placidus but a 1st house stellium in whole sign and I resonate with both! This is why it’s important to take both systems into consideration!
Until next time! 👽🖖🏼

silly little Malevolent theory
(just fyi I'm only up to part 33 so no spoilers beyond that thnx)
I was just thinking about the question of whether or not it's cheesy for a character in a piece of media to say the title of that piece of media (hypothetical example: Steve Harrington saying "come on guys, we've been through stranger things"). I'm hyperfixating on Malevolent atm so naturally that's where my brain went, and while it's innocuous enough of a title and the characters saying it would make perfect sense, I realised that only two characters (thus far) have actually said the word "malevolent".
One of them was Frank (or at least a voice claiming to be Frank, more on that in a minute) in Part 18.
Tumblr media
He showed up in Arthur's right ear and started contradicting everything John said, yet was never wrong, as John was evidently still struggling with being truthful after spending so long as the eldritch embodiment of lying. But we never really had confirmation that that voice was or was not Frank. Who was the only other character to use the word "malevolent"?
Kayne. In Coda.
Tumblr media
Kayne whose voice is closer to Harlan's natural voice than any other character. Kayne who doesn't believe in a fourth wall. Kayne who's clearly supposed to represent the fans. Kayne who literally sat on the sidelines loudly chewing popcorn while John sobbed and tried to save Arthur's life.
So all that to say...what if the voice in Part 18 wasn't Frank at all, but Kayne trying to drive even more of a wedge between John and Arthur because he thought it would be funny? Bearing in mind that Arthur and John don't meet Kayne until Part 20, meaning they'd have no reason to suspect him here.

i think people are calling for a mass extinction event not because disabled people bad/ugly, but because the amount of incest happening is genuinely horrific. that, as well as to a massive amount of cats that bear no significance. if we were talking about a real situation occurring in real life, no one in their right mind would be suggesting this, but this is just the quick and easy way to do it in the context of the books. besides, any method to try to fix this problem is never going to be implemented by the erins because they don't care
Tumblr media
This is a call for a mass extinction event because of the inbreeding and this is what I'm talking about. No, they're not just saying there should be a cutback on unneeded background characters. Asks like yours are a major reason why I am collecting screenshots for a folder.
Do not clown around and try to convince me that I'm not seeing what is clear as day. I'm not talking about people who want a mass extinction event because they want less background nobodies, or because it would be an interesting plot. I'm talking about people who respond to MOONPAW's EXISTENCE with "we need to kill most of ThunderClan"
And by the way, killing off a bunch of cats for a "mass extinction" is the exact OPPOSITE of what would fix this problem. You want to mass slaughter random characters so the pool is even SMALLER than it was when we started?? You want us to go back to the beginning of these problems in TPB, when ThunderClan only introduced four female kits who lived to adulthood who could mother the next generation??? THINK.
(Sorreltail, Ferncloud, Sandstorm, Brightheart)
Why is the vastly more common response "KILL THE ICKY" and not "USE THE BRAND NEW LAW THAT ALLOWS CROSS-CLAN MATE MIGRATION" hmmmmmmmmm????
We need to back up, too. Why do YOU think the amount of incest happening is genuinely horrific? Because what this "deformed icky inbred moonpaw" discourse has taught me is that we seem to have VERY different reasons for reaching our conclusions.
I think it is genuinely horrific because this series with a theme about "legacy" should have better rules about what counts as immediate family, the careless Erins prevent their newcoming cats like Stormcloud and Fernstripe from having time in the spotlight, and clan culture's extreme social control over the lives of the cast is cultlike and needs to be addressed as a harmful thing. OTHERS seem to think it is "genuinely horrific" because ThunderClan might have ugly disabled kids. We are not the same.

thinking about the relationship between mightily oats' "the worthwhile [words] don't burn" and constable dorfl's "the words in the heart cannot be taken"
#especially the journey both of them had to go through to get to the point of saying that. like the whole of carpe jugulum oats was so TORN#and before that too about what words could you believe and who could you really trust on their word about om and the prophets and he went#out of his way to look up records disproving what the book of om said bc he KNEW nothing they said could be believed and just all the pain#and all that doubt he went thru and the part where he questioned om's 'infinite compassion' as he prayed bc really what compassion?#how many people prayed at the stake just like he was doing in that moment? how many people had to live with the silence of their god just#like he did? but still when his book of om – that he clung to the whole book for reassurance – burned he said the worthily words don't burn#the worthily words are in the heart and in the mind and not feed into his mouth by old man who just#made things up to justify their actions. he had all the words he needded the whole time and holiness was always all around him. he just had#to look#and dorfl being created with words in his head that dictated his every move . words that chained him. then he and the other golems created#'king' for themselves in the hope he'd lead them to freedom but they put too many words in his head and he failed and carrot gave dorfl his#own freedom and his own words and that lead to dorfl destroying his well child basically and destroying himself in the process but the word#in his heart his OWN words remained and they were able to rebuilt him and vimes give him a voice and his words and belief remained in him b#they were always his#god. sorry for the ramble im severally unwell about them#mightily oats#constable dorfl#carpe jugulum#feet of clay#gnu terry pratchett#discworld

Abu Musa Ash'ari reported that Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said to him: “ Should I not direct you to the words from the treasures of Paradise, or he said: Like a treasure from the treasures of Paradise?” I said: Of course, do that. Thereupon he said: “ There is no might and no power but that of Allah." Sahih Muslim 2704 g In-book reference : Book 48, Hadith 62
Sahih al-Bukhari 4205 In-book reference : Book 64, Hadith 245
It is a word of Islam, surrender, delegation and renunciation of power and strength except by Allah, and that the slave has no control over his own affairs, no power to prevent evil, and no power to bring good except by the will of Allah. There is no transformation of the slave from sin to obedience, from sickness to health, from weakness to strength, from deficiency to perfection and increase except by Allah, and there is no strength for him to carry out any of his affairs or achieve any of his goals or objectives except by Allah, for what Allah wills is what He wills and what He does not will is what He does not will. What He wills is as He wills, at the time He wills, in the manner He wills, without increase or decrease, without advancement or retardation, He has the creation and the command, He has the king and the praise, He has the world and the Hereafter, He has the grace and the favour, He has the good praise, and His power encompasses all things.
{إِنَّمَآ أَمْرُهُۥٓ إِذَآ أَرَادَ شَيْـًٔا أَن يَقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ}
{ Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, "Be!" - and it is!} 36:82
{مَّا يَفْتَحِ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ مِن رَّحْمَةٍ فَلَا مُمْسِكَ لَهَا ۖ وَمَا يُمْسِكْ فَلَا مُرْسِلَ لَهُۥ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ}
{Whatever of mercy (i.e. of good), Allâh may grant to mankind, none can withhold it; and whatever He may withhold, none can grant it thereafter. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.} 35:2
And whom this is his Greatness, it is obligatory to submit to His divinity, surrender to His greatness, delegate all matters to Him, and renounce all help and power except through Him, which is why God has instructed His servants to mention Him with this great word, which is a great door to Paradise and a treasure among its treasures. Quoted and translated from Sheikh Al-Badr's commentary

If a woman is qualified to give da'wah based upon (sound) knowledge of the Sharee'ah and good manners, then she should allocate time in exerting herself to give da'wah to her sisters in Islaam. This is because the callers to Islaam from amongst the women are very few and giving da'wah is a collective obligation (fard kifaayah).

LYDIA MARTIN And I've got a lot to pine about. I've got a lot to live without.
You don’t care about getting hurt. But you know how I’ll feel? I’ll be devastated. And if you die, I will literally go out of my freaking mind. You see, death doesn’t happen to you, Lydia. / Unbelievable…you have no idea what you are, do you? The wailing woman.
