kokomiya !! just a silly basic little shipname cuz those are the ones i'm used to in most fandoms and i'm simply not creative enough to think of something unique and funny.

i honestly like the tag misconceptions more than i do the ship name, because i Thought about that for a little while even though its kinda basic so it doesn't even really seem like i did much thinking. but for a long time we didn't like each other, he thought i was wayyy too nice and just going to be used by everyone around me ( deadass projecting but go off koko dearest ) and i couldn't understand why he has such a grudge against me. we understand each other a little bit too well in some regards, despite each of us being on the opposite ends of The Horrors. sometimes he mentions that i would understand inupi more than i understand him, and he just doesn't understand why i'd choose someone like him when it's so obvious that he had the capability to hurt others. he's so blinded by his lack of self worth and inability to truly understand other people's depths that there's just a lot of miscommunication between the two of us for a really long time.

♡ What song would you duet for some chaotic late night karaoke?

umbrella by rihanna. is it because of that one scene with inupi where koko was hiding behind the umbrella and trying his best to act confident even when he was losing it a little bit ? yeah. maybe. who cares. it's also a BITCHING song and you can't look me in the eyes and tell me he doesn't know it by heart. and to be very clear, i'm not saying he's gonna be jay z and i'm rihanna. we alternate lines like how god intended. i will step out of the spotlight this one time and let him have the last little bit with the last few lines because i feel like he needs them a little bit. maybe it would do his psyche some good who knows.

in the tune of rihanna, also s&m is a very good choice. my minds eye can see him swaying his hips and doing a little dance and dammit he's feeling himself. gonna do that silly debby ryan thing where he pushes his hair behind his ears trying to be hot but its kokonoi hajime so it just works idk how to explain it. first verse is his and he'll sing it alone, i'll just sing the background vocals. we alternate the lines of the chorus & sing the post chorus ' come on, come on, come on ' part together at the same time. second verse is mine. if you see him blushing at the mention of whips and chains no for the love of god you do not.

♡ If you were dogs, what breeds would you be?

so he's definitely going to be something like a doodle or a golden doodle. something that looks pretty but actually may not be the best pets. i lived in a house with golden doodles and let me tell you they were wild and rowdy if not trained right and also practically impossible to kennel train at any point in time, and maybe it was just the dogs that the person had but they had the worst separation anxiety i've ever seen in dogs, and that's pretty much just koko. if you look at them from a distance you think that they're pretty and fancy looking and then you spend more than a minute in the same room with them and you realize that they're actually a handful, and i love koko for that.

for myself, i don't really have an in depth answer. i like pomeranians and also i too have a bark wayyy bigger than my entire bodyweight. they're like 3 apples tall and mostly fur, and have one of those super annoying barks that just simply don't shut up ever, and i'd like to think that's me going on and on and on about stuff that no one objectively really cares about. they're also extroverted but can get aggressive with dogs much bigger than their own size. and yeah that honestly just checks out with me i will body check a dog 4x my size because i don't like the way that it didn't look at me.

♡ Describe how your f/o smells, be absurdly specific.

oh boy he's expensive but also depressed. you can tell he's having one of those days where he just can't be half assed with anything because the cologne he wears will be sprayed so much that you can't smell anything else. he chooses savage from dior because it's one of those colognes that covers up everything else with just a little bit sprayed, but he'll still overspray it to the point it almost chokes you with the scent of it. if he's not wearing any cologne ( rare, but not impossible. i just have to catch him at the right time ) he probably smells like a mix between his lotion he wears and his body wash / exfoliant. he shops at bath and body works for lotions because he likes the deals and also has a thing for their candles.

if he's out doing ' business ' i think honestly he sweats wayyy more than he likes to let on especially since most uniforms are a jacket of some kind and they're actively fighting most of the time, so he has to use a pretty strong deodorant to hide it. definitely carries deodorant with him and he's so shameless about it. he definitely hops into the shower the moment he's home though.

sometimes, though, he smells like blood and a housefire, with the smell of smoke so thoroughly coated in his hair and blood underneath his fingernails, and i can't mention it because it's really not the important part going on right now. sometimes i just gotta pull him into the shower and wash his hair for him really well and fix dinner for him without mentioning it. tears or worried words from either one of us may break the fragile thread hanging on and it's just not worth it. i know he's okay, he knows that he's safe. it's,,, important that the nights we're together stay as normal for him as possible, especially on nights like those.

Okay, I've seen "the dinghy" as a shipname for jonmartin quite a lot now, and I am confused. Could you please explain? :)

(I only caught the tail end of the dinghy era, so if someone with more information wants to add on please feel free.)

In essence, the dinghy got its name because it was such a small, small ship. In seasons 1 and 2, the main fanbase for TMA was in it for the horror, and weren't shipping anything (it's a horror podcast, come on, you really expect there to be romance in it? Lol). The ones that were shipping, were shipping jonmichael, since at that point no one knew who Michael was and he seemed likely to become more of a major character.

There were only a handful of people shipping jonmartin, and the joke was there weren't enough to justify full sized ship, so you could fit everyone into a single dinghy. Literally no one thought it was actually going to become canon in those days.

It started gaining more traction in season 3, and by the time I joined in jonmartin was the fandom's primary ship (still didn't think it would be canon, mind you). "The dinghy" was still hanging around on a few people's blogs as their ship tag, though, and "jonmartin" hadn't become a popular tag yet, so even though it wasn't really that small of a ship anymore the name stuck around!

speaking of ur cass playlist hc...reminds of the time (yesterday) i found 2 playlists randomly on spotify from the same user. one was abt 3 hours of instrumental/classical "dark" & "nostalgic" music. the other almost 11 hours of nothing but hardcore bass/synth/electronic music. just an incredible tightrope act to put on in public. the synth one was also called like "psalms for synth sluts" which is Also incredible

Just LuHo Things (Lucas x JiHo)

Kun (and Ten)’s Children

"LuJi!”

Though Lucas and JiHo are knowns as LuHo in the fandom Kun, the only person who really calls them by a “shipname”, calls them LuJi

Whenever the two are together they are usually goofing around a lot which ends up with Kun being on high alert and scolding the duo sometimes

Lucas is already really playful and he really likes JiHo so he gets her to do stupid things with him a lot

You’ll find Kun cleaning their mess they left behind with an annoyed expression

(no one is asking Kun to do it, JiHo has already told him she’ll tidy up after herself, but the leader has no patience when it comes to those kids)

Ten is the more chill parent who tells Kun to calm down and “let them be kids”

On multiple occasions, whether it was a VLIVE, NCT daily content or on fancams, they have been seen singing and dancing to NCT Dream’s music as well as fangirling about the group

Honestly anyone in NCT who speaks more than 2 languages has a hard time speaking some times

Even though this isn’t specific to LuHo, for some reason when the two are together they have such a hard time saying at least one sentence which is completely correct

Lucas isn’t the best Cantonese teacher out there to be completely honest I’m sorry Lucas but you know this as well

So after a few attempts of trying to teach JiHo some Cantonese he just gave up, thankfully because the Cantonese he did learn JiHo wasn’t all correct either

On the other end of things, JiHo has given up teaching Lucas other languages as well

She’s a pretty good teacher if you’d ask the other members, but Lucas’ motivation only stretches out to about 15 minutes until he’s done “learning” the language

She’s quite observant, so whenever Lucas mentions something small like, “I lost my favourite cologne” or “I recently finished my cleanser” she’ll write it down and the next day she already bought it for Lucas

Those small things really mean a lot to Lucas which is why he keeps trying to repay her with way too expensive gifts

JiHo’s nothing more than a human sized teddy bear

The amount of times the boys have been worried about Lucas hurting JiHo is pretty impressive

The way Lucas tackles JiHo or throws his whole body weight on her, like he isn’t a 183 cm, 65 kg (that’s not even that heavy at all 😭😭) man

It’s like he’s a Great Dane that doesn’t know his size, but he loves JiHo so much that he just needs to throw himself on top of her

He also doesn’t know his strength sometimes because he will literally just pick JiHo up with one arm and swing her around like she weighs nothing

Lucas seeing JiHo after not having seen her for a month is... dangerous

She always has to brace herself for Lucas coming at her running to just hug her

At this point she just let’s him pick her up and swing her around, because resisting him raises the probability of her accidentally getting hurt

If you’ve noticed I’m back on posting every other day (besides that one time that Tumblr didn’t show my posts in tags so I delayed that post another day) and even with that schedule I’m struggling. I’m trying my hardest not to quit writing though, because that’s not what I want in the grand scheme of things, even if I do feel like I have absolutely nothing to write. I started about 13 posts in the last few weeks which are now in drafts unfinished... I’ll stop complaining now 😅 but I just wanted to let you guys know, because I do feel a sense of responsibility with this blog and that it would be unfair to just stop posting or post less, or continue posting “bad” posts without an explanation.

My Thoughts On Titans Season 3 Trailer

Overall

So, the trailer was pretty much what I expected (and I don’t mean that disparagingly); mostly focusing on Red Hood and new Gotham setting, but with a fair amount of other stuff, with most character getting at least one moment that emphasized them.

The characters who I felt got the most focus were Red Hood/Jason, Dick, Babs, and Kory (in that order). No, this isn’t based on a quantitative analysis of screen time in the trailer, just a general feeling of who was emphasized that I came away with. But overall, it didn’t feel that unbalanced to me, and felt like is tried to give at least something to most of the characters.

Kory

Kory looks so good! Like so so good! I can’t get over it. I know people were hoping to see more of her (and I for one could always take more Kory), but I didn’t feel like she was sidelined. As previously stated, I felt like she got the fourth most focus/emphasis (and Titans has a lot of characters). And she got the final line of the trailer, which I don’t think is insignificant.

Blackfire

I know people are also disappointed by the amount of Blackfire in the trailer. But, I don’t think that necessarily reflects her role in the season. And I don’t necessarily mind. There are many possible reasons that she was only in a few shots. They could want to keep her role and what she is doing under wraps (if this is the case then I support it, because I kind of want to be surprised with her story). Or the trailer could only be from the first few eps, and her role in those may be smaller. Or a lot of other reasons. Based on how much she’s been filming, I’m not super worried about Blackfire’s presence in the season.

Dickkory

I, like a lot of fans, were disappointed with the lack of Dickkory in the trailer, but, I didn’t really go in with any expectations of what we would see of them in the trailer. So, I’m not upset or angry; it’s just something I would have liked to see. I also think you can’t tell anything about Dickkory this season from the lack of them in the trailer. They might get together this season, they might not. This trailer doesn’t say anything in regards to that; it’s totally neutral.  I don’t think the lack of them in the trailer says that they won’t happen or that they won’t have that many scenes together. I’ve seen some people convinced that they will never happen or that they won’t have scenes this season because of this trailer, and I think that is WAYY too much to extrapolate from a trailer. A trailer only tells you a very limited of stuff, and doesn’t always mean that much. While I have no idea if we will get romantic Dickkory this season, I do really think we’ll at least get some scenes, based off things one of the writers and the Titans account said on twitter. Now many scenes they’ll be or if it will be building to a romance, I have no idea, and I don’t think anyone else can reasonably say so either based off the small amount of info about them and this season that’s been released. 

Also, on this subject, while the writer’s and Titans twitter’s account responses about Dickkory have been encouraging, I also don’t think that means we will necessarily see them in a romance this season. For one, for some people using a shipname might not necessarily using or seeing it in a romantic way. They might see Dickkory as referring to Dick and Kory and their general relationship, and not as referring to a romantic relationship. I’ve definitely seen that happen with other fandoms, where people behind TV shows would respond to or use shipnames just to refer to a dynamic between two characters. Now, I’m not saying that’s the case here (I actually lean more towards that it’s not), but it is still a possibility that I think a lot of people overlook. I’m not trying to discourage anybody or rain on anybody’s parade, I just don’t want people to feel they have been definitively promised something. I’ve seen this a lot in fandoms (people feeling they were promised something and getting angry when they don’t get it) and often it comes from a miscommunication between the creative teams and fans. That being said, I am still pretty confident we’ll get more scenes between them in season 3 than we did and season 2, and am also hopeful about their romantic future in the series; nothing in this trailer changed that.

Dick

I so a lot of people fearing that Dick will take up the Batman mantle, and again I don’t think that’s NECESSARILY the case. It might be! But it might not. For one, we didn’t see Dick’s response to Bruce’s request. And second, it’s unclear what Bruce even means by telling Dick he needs to be a better Batman. He could be referring to literally being Batman, or he could referring to “Batman” just as a superhero who protects Gotham. In the latter case, Bruce could just want Dick to protect Gotham as Nightwing. Like most things in this trailer, and most trailers, it’s unclear. Overall, despite his prominence in the trailer, I didn’t get a good feel of what Dick’s story would be this season, so I don’t really have any judgements on his character this season yet.

Babs

I’m excited to see Babs this season. I’m intrigued (although I little worried) to see her dynamic with Dick. I’m diehard Dickkory, so I hope it doesn’t turn romantic. But if it happens, it happens. While I definitely see tension between them in the trailer, I didn’t get the impression that they hate each other, like some people did. For one, there’s only like two or three scenes between them, and one is delivering exposition. And the other seems tense, but not hateful. The writer said on twitter that their relationship would be one of respect, so I don’t think they will be hating each other. I hope that their dynamic is one where they disagree and argue with each other, but there’s still that respect there and that it doesn’t turn romantic again. But we’ll have to see!

I’m also curious to see how much of the season she is in. I’ve heard it thrown around online that she is only going to be in 5 or 6 episodes. But I have no idea where this idea originated. Does anyone know? I think it might be from IMDB, in which case it might not be accurate. IMDB is very inconsistent when it comes to the accuracy of information posted there. And given that she is on the poster, it might be more than that. But again, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Trailers in General

In fandom in general, I think people really overestimate how much they can gleam about the actual show or movie from trailers and other marketing materials. First and foremost, trailers are intended to advertise a show or movie, not give an accurate representation of what the movie or season will be. Trailers can often be misleading, but even when they are not, they are only giving viewers limited information, and without context. Often, trailers aren’t even made by the writing or directing team, but by an in-house marketing team at the company that produced the show/movie or an outside.

Really, trailers are just giving viewers breadcrumbs; sometimes accurate breadcrumbs, sometimes misleading breadcrumbs. But that thing is, it’s impossible to know how accurate a trailer is until you see that actual show/movie it’s advertising. So, you can never really know ahead of time how representative what you’re seeing in a trailer is of the actual movie/show. 

Not to mention, there is very little context for the scenes, images, and lines of dialogue you are seeing. And in understanding scenes, and characters, context is EVERYTHING. And for TV shows, you also don’t know how much of the season the trailer is using. This titans trailer could only be using a few episodes, or it could be more. There is no way of knowing unless we’re told. There is just so much uncertainty with trailers.

When it comes down to it, trailers are just scenes, lines, and images completely removed from their context.

But unfortunately, I think fandom can sometimes treat trailers as a lot more than this, believing they have a better understanding of what they season/movie is going to be than they possibly could given the nature of trailers. Sometimes these impressions are right! But i just find it so hard to ever know.

But I know there has been massive proof over the years that WE have a right to be here as well and thats why we still exist, but it doesn’t mean you should make fun of us or trashing about them (I guess one blog has a lot to say To That By the way).

For a lot of people (including myself) tumbler is a place where ANONS come together and share a passion, escape reality for a second and feel safe and lets just remember why we are here

I was just wondering, I’ve seen anti tags for just about every fandom, but I’ve only seen “salt” tags for ATLA, GOT, and a few others. Is it just not as common of a tag to use?

i think this is a shift that happened around when ‘anti’ vs ‘anti anti’/’proship’ discourse started gaining traction, at least as far as i can tell. because it used to be that ‘anti shipname’ was simply used to denote negative opinions about a ship (or character) and to keep those posts separate from the main tags so fans of the ship or whatever wouldn’t have to see them--i have fairly extensive anti tags, but for me being like ‘anti reylo’ or ‘anti swanqueen’ doesn’t mean i think anyone who ships those things are bad people--i just really hate the ships and sometimes wanna talk about why on my blog without like, crapping on the ship’s front porch or whatever.

‘antis’ has become synonymous with ‘bullies’ lately, though (if you want an example, just scroll back on my blog to posts from two days ago to see the kind of dogpiling and harassment those parts of fandom actively engage in and encourage), and so i think a lot of people who don’t want to be associated with people like that have started using salt tags as a way to categorize their anti posts and still keep them separate from main tags without being labeled as ‘antis’. ‘critical’ tags serve a similar function.

then there’s also a matter of degree. for example, i’ll use the tag ‘anti kataang’ because i genuinely dislike that ship on a number of levels, but i prefer to use the tag ‘aang salt’ when talking about things i criticize wrt his arc in the show because i don’t actually hate or dislike aang, but i do dislike the way a lot of his character arc was handled in book 3 and want to talk about that without people assuming i hate him. (i mean a lot of them will anyway, just bc i ship zutara, but there’s not much i can do about that so.)

i suspect the exact reasons will vary from person to person, but these are the trends i’ve personally noticed!

4,5 years of Gotham in my life♥

Wow my emotions these last days. I’m not much of a text poster on this site but when Gotham ended I really felt I wanted to write this!

Gotham has been a huge part of my life for so long now. 4 years and 7 months since the first episode aired, that’s some time gosh. And so much has happened during this journey! I just wanna mention some memorable things during these years. Like remember the pre-s02x09 excitement?? And other stuffs, ah here we go!

The first trailer made me SO EXCITE, I had wanted more batman villains content for years since I have always found the batman villains squad so interesting and good and unique characters, there is so much to explore here! And so the Gotham trailer came and I just OH MY GOD this is exactly what I want!! And so it started and it was amazing. My first love was Ed, it took him his first scene in ep1 to make me go totally THIS IS MY FAV! More eps went on and I required more Ed content. But then Oswald slowly grew on me kinda out of nowhere like I wasn’t expecting it. And when amazing ep7 aired it just hit down on me from the sky, like it does when I know I got a new obsession/fandom. Oswald’s amazing scenes in ep7 and I went ”Okay this is it, I’M DEEP INTO THIS NOW AND I LOVE IT!”. In exactly THIS↓ scene/moment I basically said those words out loud and realized this is my life now, ugh also one of my fav looks I miss the bangs:

Shortly after ep7 I started shipping Nygmobblepot, since we knew who these characters were and who they will end up being it made SO much sense in this show, they were like the two familiar main villains in kinda the same age and I also loved them both so I mean it was obvious for me. Man in the beginning we were so very few in the shipping Nygmob pond, in the OCEAN of Gobblepot. It was a bit of a struggle sometimes, ppl wrote hate on my Nygmob posts n stuff shrug. And I just didn’t get how not more ppl could see it? It would make more sense if this were new characters like they hadn’t even met but since we knew this is Riddler and Penguin it just was fate for them to cross paths soon enough! We needed Nygmob content! I started making tons of my own AU:s since if the show wouldn’t give us content I would do it.

BUT we had Robin & Cory with us! Reminder that Cory invented the shipname after 5 minutes and Robin & Cory’s amazing twitter activity during s1 especially I will always remember as a fav. Remember when they we’re so into roleplaying Nygmob and spoke how Ed & Os loved each other and all sorts of things. All about going to The Foxglove together and stuff. Ugh it was amazing, I miss their interactions.  

In this very smol pond is when one day my shining star @conscience-killer (aka okimi79)  approached me, with this ♥ ”Sometimes I feel we’re the only Nygmobblepot shippers in the world…well apart from Robin and Cory. We should have a secret handshake or something.”

And man did we get a secret handshake! Gosh MY DEAR OKIMI! That I up til this day since then has spoken with like everyday for 4,5 years, you are amazing ♥ And in that time of so few shippers it felt even more special, to have  someone else out there as obsessed as me. I’m so grateful we found each other at exactly that time and we’ve been through so much on this journey ♥.

When Nygmob in spring finally had their first scene it was so amazing and I have no idea how many times I have watched that scene to this day, and also with that the ship grew a bit yas!!

Let’s jump forward a bit. NYC Comic Con 2015 in fall, one of my fav Robin & Cory cons/interview times! Because the legendary ep 2x9 was soon upon us and OMG remember how excite they were in those interviews!?! And THEN, that fkn night THE episode aired. I couldn’t believe it was real, it was EVERYTHING we had dreamed of!!! SO MUCH NYGMOB CONTENT and so in character and gosh. Man their season 2 relationship is just so beautiful and I love it til this day and 2x9 is forever my favorite episode because it meant EVERYTHING for us shippers and more people also started seeing the connection between Nygmob and so more ppl started to make content and join in!

A time after another shining star came into my life, @constant-sinner (aka (riddlelvr) ♥ This amazing person and artist! And together with her and okimi I am part of the best trash family of three and I can’t believe I’ve been a mom (yet i’m the youngest but i’m fashion fur coat mom okay) to these trash sinners for like 4 years. ♥

Okay but remember all INSANE SMAYLOR CONTENT BEFORE SEASON 3!!? Man that was also one of the best times I had during these years. God they were so excite for their relationship in s3 and WEREN’T WE ALL! And omg Comic Con. I had my fkn header for 3 years soon lol, man that moment I remember seeing the signing booth stream all casual and Robin & Cory goes “Smaaylor!! Nygmobblepot!!! ;))” And I’m just wait WHUT omg. Their press tours with Sean is something I’ll miss even more than the episodes, always such a joy seeing those three together!

And when season 3 started it was just insane. To be honest how their relationship grew in s3 that’s how I expected it to grow after their meeting in s1, it made sense already back then. Ed admiring Oswald and sneaking to his club and Oswald would be a huge part of Ed’s journey to become the Riddler but ah well, I did my best with my AU:s back then!

And then s3 came and Gotham EXPLODED and I had no idea where all million ppl suddenly came from lol. It became huge. But since it still feels kinda close to this day (2,5 yrs though man), my most nostalgic feels will always be over s1-2 so I’m not gonna write so much about the season 3-5 times in this text. My closest to heart milestones is during the first years and now that I’ve seen all episodes I still think season 1 is the best overall, except the lack of Nygmob content ofc ;)

I’ve not just felt love for the show ofc, the show isn’t perfect. There has been serious flaws and bad writing and plot drops. Tbh s4 I just felt so NOPE about? 22 eps of waste…Like Ed’s plot for example like he barley had his own plot what happened? And we also have the q*eerbait Nygmob issue obviously. I have also felt the show has been a bit childish being -helloo- GOTHAM city we’re talking about? I think it would have been much better off with a MA-rating tbh to properly tell certain stories. After s4 though I’m glad in s5 Nygmob finally got some proper screen time being together and in character!! Like that’s how their relationship should have been from beginning of season 4, or season 1 if u ask me lol but ya know!

BUT I LOVE THIS SHOW, the amazing actors and characters and scenery and costumes!! Ed, Oswald, Robin & Cory will ofc always have the most special place in my heart ♥ The Nygmob journey in the show has meant so much to me to follow it from day one and I never knew how much this show would mean to me when I started back in the day.

This show. And not just the show itself but my journey and life around it!!? So much has happened. For one example I had made a bit of gifs before but Gotham really got me into gif making, and it’s been a joy sharing content and my Nygmob AU will always be among my most fun things I’ve done, it was like if they ain’t gonna give us enough content I WILL. It’s a fun way of gif making to manip scenes to create something new! And today I still enjoy making gifs, as you probably know heh. Thanks so much for all nice comments and reblogs through all these years ya’ll!! It warms my heart and I love to read reblog tags! 

I have been at con and got to meet Robin, enjoyed so many interviews and promos, chatted with wonderful people. Every Friday night I have been up in my Europe timezone at 2am to live watch the show, the workdays after has been a bit of a struggle of being tired with going to bed like 5am lol but man it’s been so nice to follow it when it airs!

Watching together with my dearest @conscience-killer and @constant-sinner . Two of the best that happened to me during these years. These two people that I’ve spoken with like everyday for 4 years! Through Gotham finding two of my dearest friends in my life. Watching the show together and screaming, crying, laughing during this journey, about not just the show but EVERYTHING in life. They also are amazing writers and artists ♥ And also helped me endless times with gif caption when my non-native brain trying to write gif captions at 3am after the episode lol. All my love to you both ♥

THANKS TO ALL AMAZING PEOPLE that impacted me over these years. The cast and nice fandom people! My dearest @conscience-killer and @constant-sinner. And I also wanna mention dear @millicentcordelia and @selene-volturo that are amazing ppl that have been here with me since the very beginning of season 1. Ofc it’s a bit sad but as I said I felt s4 was kinda stomping around in the same spot and even s5 had some fillers like they didn’t have more to do to push the story forward? The last ep was a nice easter egg wrap up for this LONG journey. And I mean shows live on with fan content, and who knows maybe it will return somehow? But it feels good they told us it would end so I was prepared for this and to say ”goodbye”. But it’s not goodbye because content will continue on this site and I’ll continue re-enjoy this show!

Yes, they’re a ship, even if I’m struggling to come up with a ship name and, so far, they bicker like an old married couple, lol.

Fair waning with this; SPOILERS BELOW, SPOILERS! SPOILERS!

Ahem, now that we have that out of the way.

2. What is their ship name?

...I don’t know. I’m usually good at coming up with ship names. Ask my sisters, I usually don’t have a problem with bad ship names, lol. But this time around, I’ve been having a hard time with it. All the shipnames from their combined names sound stupid, so  I’m either going to go with Magnificent Witch or Night King. I’m not even so sure I like those, either, but it’s better than Petrielle, Brieter, and Brevensie since, still, Bri has no last name. Lol.

3. Describe their relationship dynamic.

They bicker like an old married couple, but it’s because they’ve been friends for so long. Friends through the Golden Age and Brielle being Susan’s lady-in-waiting and best friend as long as they’ve been in Narnia, and before being transported back to Earth the first time. She has a very close relationship with the Pevensies due to this, making her closer than anyone should be to the royals. Because of this, she’s consistently questioned of being Peter’s mistress of which he continuously defends her. They tend to get on each other’s nerves but hold a lot of respect for each other and their times of vulnerability that showcases when they’re on their walks or canvassing the library...even though Brielle is trying to kill him.

13. Who dies first? How does the other react?

Brielle dies first and Peter reacts to it with utter disbelief. As a matter of fact, he denies it for a long while, having seen her die in battle. It’s a wound he’s sure Lucy’s cordial could fix, and refuses to believe she can’t. Afterwards he goes into a deep depression that manifests in his running into countless battles and wars to “feel something.”

15. Describe your favorite moment of that ship!

Favorite romantic moment or favorite angsty moment? So, there’s spoilers in this, but I don’t care, because I need to tell someone about this. Ahem!

Romantic - Brielle asks Peter to go for a walk (which by that point has become their thing™), and they end up waking around Miraz’s castle, taking in everything that was being rebuilt and reminiscing over the battles they’ve fought together. Ultimately, they change the subject to Cair Paravel and what they hope the castle will be like, with Peter perfectly describing what Brielle’s room would be like, showing how much he knows and cares about her. Brielle, who is using that walk as a means to get Peter by himself and kill him, feels she can’t go through with it. They then continue to walk the castle before he invites her into his room, wanting to return a book he read he thought she’d be interested in. Brielle changes the conversation to the way they met and their resulting friendship. Peter corrects her to saying it’s a relationship, confesses his feelings, and kisses her just as she’s about to stab him.

Angsty - This part I’m equally excited for, where Peter, after throwing Brielle in prison for treason, goes to her to demand her motives as to why she tried to kill him, though uses it more as a means to unleash his fury against her. They argue--which is something they clearly already know how to do--and he then condemns her to death.

From time to time I see people commenting about the fact that the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom uses ___shipping names rather than smush names and wondering why that fandom* has to be different (though we’re not actually the only fandom that does this, Pokemon does as well and may have done it even before, but I’ll touch on this later).

And jokes aside, it uh, kinda makes sense when you stop and think.

Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon are both long running (20+ years) series with literally hundreds of characters and over 900 episodes (Pokemon actually recently hit 1000).

Smush names are fine and all for series with small casts and/or aren’t overly long, but when you’ve been running for that many years, you develop some issues.

1) Similar sounding names.

Presuming for a moment that YGO used smushnames and smushnames only (b/c it *does* use smushnames every now and then, mainly on the JPN side of the fandom and while waiting for a shipname to be decided on), if I gave the name RyoYu, which pairing would I be referring to?

Would it be

a) Ryo Bakura and Yugi Muto

b) Ryo Marufuji and Yuskue Fujiwara

c) Ryoga Kamishiro and Yuma Tsukumo

d) Ryoken Kogami and Yusaku Fujiki

e) any crossover combination of these characters b/c crossover do happen (a lot)

The answer, literally any of these. These are all ships within the various series that logically could all be smushed into RyoYu (I may have even missed some combinations)

And then there’s the obvious fact that the Yunsound is in A LOT of character’s names in this series. Yugi, Yuskue, Yusei, Yuma, Yuya, Yuto, Yugo, Yuri, Yuzu, Yusaku...to name a few(and five of these names all appear in the same series). I mean, how do you smush Yuya and Yuri and make it distinct from a Yuya and Yuto smush?

Generally when you look at a smush name you should be able figure out the characters involved- TanuNatsu is clearly Tanuma/Natsume (Natsume Yuujinchou), EdWin is Edward and Winry (Fullmetal Alchemist), NaLu is Natsu and Lucy (Fairy Tail).

Which becomes hard when you have 20+ years, 6 series and literally hundreds of characters under your belt. Trying to make each and everyone distinct is, hard.

Also, not ever pairings is just two characters, OT3+s are surprisingly common and trying to smushname THOSE is even harder.

2) How to smush/multiple ways to smush

Sometimes two names just do not blend well together and you have to try obscure combinations to get a name.

For example in Cardfight!! Vanguard, trying to locate *any* fan work for Chrono Shindou and Shion Kiba. What shipname do I search under?

ChroShi? ShiChro? If it’s not under those what other combinations do I try in order to find content?

Turns out it’s actually under Shiokuro (specifically, written like this シオクロ)

Or, there are multiple ways TO smush a name but no one agrees on which one.

Homura Takeru and Yusaku Fujiki

Is it HomuYuu, TakeYuu?

What about Kogami Ryoken/Revolver and Yusaku Fujiki

Is it RevSaku, RevoYuu, YusaRyo, RyoYusa?

Answer, all of them (according to the shiplist page, these are all smushnames used for these pairings).

Which leads to a tagging problem. Do you tag it as all of them? As just one and if so which one? Which is the most active if they’re all in use?

Alternatively, one of these smushnames could also be the smush name of a pairing in a totally unrelated series. And that’s just gonna make it even harder for the smaller fandom to find content of their pairings.

So rather than finangling around going ‘do I use 4 different ship tags’ it’s easier to just throw ‘datastormshipping’ onto Yusaku/Revolver content and be done with it.

3) Dub and sub names.

While not a problem in a lot of series, YGO, and Pokemon, have the issue of names being changed when it gets an English adaptation. And sometimes the changes aren’t even close to the original in terms of sound or even letters.

Jounochi to Joey at least has the decency to keep the ‘Jou’ sound at the beginning. On the other hand, Hiroto Honda became Tristan Taylor and that is, vastly different.

Which then leads to the issue of, not everyone will have seen the sub and only knows the dub version, so now on top of there being smushnames that use their Japanese name, there’s going to end up smushnames using the dub name as well. So now if you want to find content for your pairing, the tags you gotta search may have just doubled.

Which brings us to ___shipping names.

As far as I can tell these are, mainly used by the English speaking side of the fandom (or at the very least the non-Japanese side of the fandom). These make it easier to search for content/tag content so it can be found or avoided.

It’s one tag to search though and one that’s *usually* descriptive in some way of the pairing (I say usually b/c there didn’t appear to be any regulation on DM ship names way back when just a, first come first serve basis with suggestions that didn’t need any kind of reasoning for them) and won’t overlap with unrelated fandoms. 

Smushnames cam work and we do sometimes use them, it’s just, sometimes you really, REALLY need an alternative b/c of the reasons mentioned above. And these kinds of names are almost certainly not going to be in use by anyone else.

Culture and Translation - S01 E06

This is a bit of a weird episode, in that it feels like not much happened. Because Skam España switched a few things around, it seems like episode 6 shouldn’t be the episode in which to hang out with the characters for a while before shit goes down. But one thing that got me hooked to Skam almost straight away was the way you got to “hang out” with the characters even in small, drama-free moments, and this episode has a couple of clips I really like.

CLIP 1: Monday blues

Es que le metiste un corte (You were razor sharp with him): “Meter un corte” is really hard to translate. It basically means to be really cutting with someone when they aren’t expecting it, in a way that shuts the conversation for good. Which Amira did, over and over, but the dude wasn’t getting the hint.

I do think Nora feels a little bad for the guy, but only because Nora is extremely empathetic with everyone in the world, to the point where it’s surprising when she’s not empathetic.

Viri is a great liar. We will come to find out much of what she says in this scene is a lie, but she has no tells. This is why I think the Selena Gomez shoe line thing was Viri teasing the girls, because she broke character almost immediately. If Viri wanted the girls to believe it, we can see here that she would’ve managed.  

Nora’s shirt says, “No means no.” ‘No es no’ was first a slogan for an awareness campaign, promoted by several Spanish city halls, which aimed to curtail sexual abuse and rape during local festivals, such as Sanfermines. There’s also an Axel, Soledad song. And it has of course been slapped on all sorts of merchandise. Like shirts!

The sides of the mirror are tagged with graffiti, by the way.

And also, Eva and Nora are late for first period! They end up skipping it entirely.

CLIP 2: Lucas has feels; Eva’s are stronger

Eva and Lucas are listening to Molly Svrcina’s Fallen Angel. I think the point of the song was lost in how incredibly random the song is. This is a song Lucas recommends Eva listen to. It’s about Lucas, not Eva. Lucas is trying to give a hint to Eva about himself, but Eva’s too focused on the Jorge drama.

While this clip dropped during recess, Eva skipped school. Not sure if Lucas did as well, though.

It’s Viri who shares a birthday with Paris Jackson, as I already wrote in the post for last episode.

Alejandro Reina does a nice bit of acting with his eyes at the 5:22 mark. Lol, Lucas is so fucking tired of the Eva/Jorge drama carousel.    

Y tú me caes de puta madre (“And I think you’re fucking great”): Lucas is not just saying that he thinks Eva’s great. He’s saying he really fucking likes Eva (as a friend, that is!).

Es que sigo enfadada (“‘Cause I’m still upset”): This is a sentiment that will be expressed often this week by Eva, Jorge and Lucas. I’ve seen subs that translate it “enfadada” as “angry” and it’s not wrong, but I feel Eva and Jorge are both more upset than angry during this week. Your mileage may vary, though!

CLIP 3: Ship wars

Cullera: Cullera is a beach city in the Valencia region that has been taken over by tourists (or guiris, if you will!). There are some nice sights, but people visit for the beaches. Many Spanish familes own some sort of apartment by the beach, but Cullera is a step up from the usual, which is Torremolinos. A hint about Inés’ parents’ economic status! Cullera means “spoon” in Valencian language, by the way.

Easter break: The 2019 Easter break runs from the 12th of April to the 22th. Coincidentally, there are some rumors that s2 will premiere after Easter break 2019.

Tú no te líes, que el viaje importante es el de Mallorca, ¿eh? (Okay, but don’t lose sight of the important trip, the Majorca trip, huh?): A closer translation would be: “Don’t get sidetracked, the important trip is the Majorca trip, okay?” Which is actually a shorter line, so we should maybe change that, lol.

Que parezcamos ahí dos lapas como estas parejitas que están por ahí (For us to look like two barnacles like those couples you see everywhere): The literal translation would be, “for us to look like two barnacles like those couples that are around,” but that sounded like shade towards Eva and Jorge, who are also broken up this week. It’s not meant as shade, and in fact Eva has no reaction to it, so I reworked it.

Viri’s economic background is hinted through her confusion with job titles. In Spanish, she doesn’t remember if Alejandro’s father is a “director” (which could be translated as director, manager, and even principal, but also CEO) and “directivo” (executive or CEO). I settled for initials salad.

There is a bit of dialogue at the end that was cut from the episode version. The girls present their final arguments in the Viriandro vs Aleviri debate… which ironically, foreshadowed the Norandro vs Alenora shipname wars. It appears as if most of the fandom has settled on Norandro, at last.

Viri: It’s that, it’s like a Greek god.

Cris: What are you, Voldemort or something?

Viri: It’s like, it’s funny because it’s like a Greek god, like Viriandro is a Greek god sort of name. Yeah, it’s super neat.

Cris: It’s a gladiator name, dude!

Almost totally off topic linguistics note: The girls use the English loanword “ship” in the fandom sense. The verb had obviously crossed language lines in fandom spaces years ago, but it became part of mainstream Spanish culture (yes, really) when Operación Triunfo became big last year, and everyone was shipping couples from the show. The interesting part is that Spanish speakers came up with two declensions for the Spanish form of the verb: “yo lo shippeo” (I ship it) and “yo lo shippo” (again, I ship it). People who had been in fandom longer leaned towards “shippeo” (and so do I!), so I find it aesthetically pleasing that the girls favor that declension.  

CLIP 4: Eva shoots his shot. It doesn’t go well.

I was certain Jorge’s secret would have to do with one or both his parents being unemployed, so at the time I made note of the fact that one of the apartments he walks by is up for sale. It’s the reddish orange sign at the 10:06 mark.

The song that plays at the end of the clip is Zahara’s El Frío, but it has been edited. These are the lyrics that have made it to the clip: “I didn’t expect that the one who started all the fires would also be the one to put them out. How did you let the cold inside you, it has destroyed everything.”

CLIP 5: Speederman

This has to be a change from my high school years. I did the Cooper test in 3º ESO (the equivalent of 9th grade in the US) and never had to do it again through high school. 

More info on the Cooper test, in case you care. Not only was I not tested on a standard 400 m tartan track, but we were also not trained to perform it properly. Ah, high school PE!

Venom premiered in Spain the 5th of October. This clip dropped the 19th of October.

Yes, that is actually how we pronounce Spiderman in Spain.

I love that Nora is into Viri saying she loves anything that has to do with saving the world. Nora is so earnest, lol.

¿O qué vas a hacer, tía? ¿Quedarte en casa llorando? (“Or what do you have in mind, dude? Staying at home, crying?”): Another translation could be, “Or what are you going to do, dude? Stay at home and cry?” but I went with the line in the subs because I thought it flowed better.

Cómo jode que te dejen, ¿eh? (It sucks to be dumped, doesn’t it?): “Sucks” is a lot less charged than “joder,” which is the word Inés actually uses. I guess you’d have to say “fucking sucks” to get the intensity across. You’ll have to make do with Inés’ line delivery.

CLIP 6: Ride of the Valkyries

As it turns out, Alba Planas is also a fan of og Skam, so I’m going to pretend Eva’s string of sorries is also an homage to Tarjei’s delivery.

This scene was shot right outside of Cine Paz. 

Pero no me seáis pavas (“But don’t be silly”): Viri says “pavas,” which is hard to translate. Essentially, Viri’s afraid the girls are going to embarrass her in front of Alejandro, either unintentionally or (not unlikely given this group) intentionally. I.e. they’re not going to behave maturely in front of him.

Madre mía (Good heavens): Okay, so I already talked in the post for episode 5 about the way Amira uses interjections that aren’t swear words, and this is an example of it. “Madre mía” literally means “mother of mine” and it’s basically meaningless as an interjection. What matters is the tone you add to it. In this case, Amira’s impatient that the girls are getting distracted chatting about whatever, instead of going into the theater. I don’t love “good heavens” as it has Christian connotations. On the other hand, “geez” feels too short for how impatient Amira sounds.

It took me a while to realize this, but this clip actually has an og equivalent. This would be the clip where Vilde notices William and Sara hooking up, and looks devastated. Skam España chooses to go about it in a totally different way, with the girls backing Viri up as they walk in.

CLIP 7: Tout le monde veut devenir un cat

Sí, hija, sí (“Yeah, girl, yeah”): Jorge actually calls Eva “daughter,” lol. Much like with tío and tía, we might call anyone “son” or “daughter.” I’ve even caught myself using it on my own parents! If I have the right info, this is also common in Latin American countries, except they use “mijo” and “mija,” instead. “Hijo” or “hija” is more affectionate than “tío” or “tía,” although, much like with “madre mía,” it’s used to express a variety of emotions. Here, Jorge is dismayed that his chocolate romance went awry.

Pretty sure those are knockoff peanut M&Ms. Most likely from the Spanish grocery chain Mercadona.

Tomás Aguilera, who plays Jorge, has managed to be almost impossible to find online. However, his instagram bio makes reference to the French version of the Aristocats song Everybody wants to be a cat. It’s adorable.

i just wanted to give you your coat back (ex-farrentina) - akita

A/N: thats a long title and i am sorry. this is very loosely based around helen oh helen by flatsound. i dont know if its farrentina or varrah for the shipname but i liked the sound of the former. this is a post break up fic and is technically also farraja. this fic gave me hell when i was writing it.

Valentina finds Farrah’s coat when she’s tidying up.

As the spring was coming to life, Valentina thought that a clear out was an apt use of her time. Cleaning her room, throwing out every sentimental possession that reminded her of the people she’d left behind, she stumbled upon something that she couldn’t distract herself from. It was a pastel pink, fluffy coat, one that had clearly been left and forgotten about. When she lifted it up, the mawkish cotton candy scent that clung to it hit her senses hard, despite it having begun to dwindle in its abandonment. Her fingers sunk deep into the cottony fur and left her awash with memory. This was Farrah’s jacket.

Her grip on it was grew so tight that her knuckles were whiting. She could feel the tears pricking in the corners of her eyes, and she tried desperately to blink them back. Farrah left this here the night of the breakup; she hadn’t thought to pick it up. In the three months since, she hadn’t called for it, and Valentina had hardly even noticed that it was there, having piled other things on top of it over time. There was no surprise that it went forgotten about. It was far from a peaceful split - they ended on shouting and crying, brought on by threats and accusations. The latter were largely from the suspicious brunette, whose doubts had been consuming her in the final weeks.

Out of all the things in life that she regretted, this was the one that gnawed at her unrelentingly. Sweet, whiny Farrah brought her so much happiness. She was loving and funny, and ironically, unrelentingly loyal. Yes, she had her moments where she flirted and toyed around with other girls, but that was all it was. And even when she made those accusations, Valentina knew that was the case. Consciously, rationally, Valentina knew that Farrah wasn’t cheating, and that she wasn’t the cheating type. However, jealousy was an ugly emotion. Her unfortunate possessiveness was what caused their clash, and ultimately, caused the break up.

Moving over to the edge of her bed, she slumped down, clutching the soft fabric of the coat to her chest and losing her fingers in the fur. The first time Farrah wore this was the first time she stayed here.  All the intricacies of that night came to life in Valentina’s head, from the soft crumpling of the cotton quilt to the low rumble of cars on the road outside. Her girlfriend was afflicted with the tail end of a cold, and her breath had been falling in quiet rasps. They’d planned the night for so long that she was determined to show up, even if she was a little under the weather.

Blanketed only by dim moonlight that spilled through the curtains, Farrah had been drifting in and out of sleep, and her honeyed voice was limited to whispers by the pain in her throat. Her body was pressed flush against Valentina, her head on her chest, and she was kept close by an arm around her back. Her body was warm, and in the proximity, she could feel the rise and fall of her ribcage with every breath. The fingers of the arm around her gently kneaded the pink fuzz of the jacket, massaging into her side until the brunette could feel Farrah’s body melting into her own. She marvelled at the delicate sigh left her lips.

4am brought mumbles about the clouds they watched out of the open curtains, rolling against the black of the sky. She remembered vividly Farrah asking if she reckoned the clouds ever got lonely - she told her that they couldn’t, because the sun was always near. The giggle she got in response had made her heart skip then, and did so again as it echoed in her mind. Drowsiness played at the pair, and in the daze induced by the threat of sleep, their lips met for the first time, brushing softly and lazily over each other. Valentina swore she could feel the heat in her stomach from that night pooling there again in reminiscing.  

The tears that threatened her were now rolling down her cheeks. She was sobbing as she buried her face into the garment, ignoring the irritation of the fibers as they clung to the damp of her face. With each heaved breath, the perfume that possessed the object lunged into her, the familiarity of the scent tearing deeper into the reopened wound. It felt like the claws of thought were coated in salt. In this moment, reminiscing desperately over her lost love and own mistakes, she wished she could have her back. If only she’d bit her tongue, then maybe things could have worked out.

Rekindling things wasn’t an option; Farrah was taken again already. In the wake of things falling apart, she took her quick uptake into a relationship as confirmation of her fears. It was Aja who she’d been scared of, who she’d been convinced Farrah seeing behind her back, who she was certain she was going to leave her for. And, only 2 weeks after the relationship ended, they got together. For that reason, Valentina was certain that she hated Aja. She didn’t really like them to begin with. They’d butted heads many times, but when the fear of them taking her girlfriend emerged, that set the loathing in stone.

Did she hate them now? No. But that didn’t mean she felt good towards them. All that anger had simmered down to exasperation at most. She’d seen online, and she’d heard in person, in the unfortunate situation that she was confronted with the happy couple, that Farrah loved them. They’d been together for only two months now, how could she call that love? That was hypocritical, and she knew it. Only a week in was she convinced she loved her, why should the standard be any different for Farrah? The whole train of thought worsened the sting.

She’d not spoken to her in a while now. They’d bumped into each other at odd times, when they were both out shopping or in passing while the other was at work. Conversation had been limited to uncomfortable hellos. Only once had she seen her with Aja, and when she did, they shot her a glare so harsh that she could feel the hairs on her arms stand up. It made her stomach flip when Farrah laughed about it, a sound once so sweet to her ears that was now coated in malice. After that, she’d done her best to avoid seeing either of them.

The garment in her hands was something that, though sentimental, she wanted rid of. In her mind, keeping a hold of an ex-girlfriend’s jacket was a little creepy, especially when she wouldn’t even keep it to wear. But throwing it out didn’t seem like an option. At one point, Farrah described it as her favourite thing. There would be no surprises if it was too tarnished with foul memories for her to think the same about it now. Reaching over for her phone, Valentina anxiously considered an idea that came to mind.

She still had her number - she still had all the texts. A sense of paranoia and self preservation mixed with a self destructive sentiment made her hang onto them. Maybe she would need receipts; maybe she would need a good cry, wine drunk at 4am on a Wednesday. The last thing Farrah sent was a ‘we need to talk.’ from the day that things finished. Absentmindedly thumbing the home button, she tried to decide if this was worth it. The worst thing that could happen would be that she was just told she didn’t want it. V: i found your coat. do you want it back? After what felt like the longest minute, she got a text in response. F: pink fluffy coat? V: yeah. F: sure. can you bring it now? V: of course. see you soon. x F: thanks.

Valentina was angry with herself for putting a kiss, but it was on autopilot. She hoped desperately that there wouldn’t be any assumptions made, but when she really thought about it, she doubted that would be the case. Farrah wouldn’t care about it - she didn’t need to. Tidying herself up a little, making sure she was ready to leave, she went on the short walk towards her ex’s house.

She knew the way like the back of her hand. If you asked her to, Valentina could probably draw a map of the streets, of every signpost, every bush, every tree. She never let Farrah walk home alone; she was too frightened of what could happen to her. It wasn’t like she herself would be particularly off putting to an attacker, but it still made her feel better. In the free hand that hung by her side, she felt the ghosting of another in it, but when she closed her fist, it was empty.

The flamingos on the front lawn watched her with spite. It felt like with each step, the lawn lights were glowing brighter and brighter until they felt overwhelming. At one point, this house as like another home, but when she reached the door, it felt sickeningly sterile and disjointed. The pink paint of the door once so vibrant in her eyes appeared to have taken on a greying look. Shaking the coat out, making sure the fur was falling nicely, she held it by the collar in one hand, and knocked the door with the other.

There was a bustling on the other side, the whisper of voices muffled by glass, and then, the door handle rattled. While Valentina hardly came with a speech in mind, her voice was caught in her throat when it wasn’t Farrah at the door. It was Aja. Aja, whose sneering face set her heartbeat into overdrive and made the tips of her fingers shake. They made her nervous 3 months ago, and they left her now with a mixture of fear and anger. Behind her, leaning against a cabinet with an uncharacteristically steely gaze was Farrah.

“The fuck do you want?” Aja took a step forward, and smirked when the girl stepped back. “I wanted to drop this off,” She extended the coat forward, avoiding eye contact. It was swiped from her grip, “She said I could.” “She has a name.” The words were spat chastisingly. “Farrah said I could bring it over. I found it in my room, I thought she’d want it back.” “Well, you’ve given me it, and I’ll give her it. You can go now.”

Valentina hesitated, though she took a half step back as they moved a little closer again. If she were a braver woman, perhaps she would have stood her ground. Perhaps she would have made a statement, demanded to give Farrah the coat back herself, demanded to speak with her and make amends. She wasn’t a woman of no confidence, but in this situation, she was not sure footed enough to execute a decent defense. She didn’t want to be the girl who humiliated herself begging to her ex in her front garden.

From the hallway, the pink haired girl stepped closer, to be near her partner’s side, looking over their shoulder to frown at Valentina. For a moment, she felt a little bit guilty. It had been a while since she’d last seen her, and with the depth of closeness that they’d shared, it wasn’t as if she didn’t think of her from time to time. Things ended horribly, and the accusations made towards her had hurt Farrah so deeply that the sight of the brunette used to turn her stomach. But now, faced with her at her door, empty handed and bleary eyed, she felt an ounce of pity.

That wasn’t enough for her to extend a hand. “Thank you for my coat.” The lacrymose words were chased with the slam of the door. She’d done what she’d came her to do, and now, Valentina headed home.
