Ok so. Cave still sold shower curtains to the military and has a bunch of money from it, and Caroline is a mechanical engineer who no one thought much of because a) woman and b) she has a learning disorder but Cave was like "hell yeah queen let's fund you" (that's why she can't fire him)

Aperture started out with robots here, and its main purpose was to develop companions for humans. The companion cube is actually just a prototype for the cores they keep around because people love them, the cores themselves were actually made to be companions, not to regulate Chell. There is still human testing, but it's because Caroline wanted to start getting into cybernetic limbs and needed data on how the human body functions and also how the human brain functions. They don't really go bankrupt, but they do end up going into debt because someone ordered 70 million dollars of moon rocks.

They of course still have the portal gun, and now the conversion gel (there is no repulsion or propulsion gel because those just. Never happened) but yeah. Caroline tries to keep people away from the moon dust after she gets sick (around this time is when she gets Cave put into "Wheatley", he wasn't actually created to be an idiot in this au he just was sorta stupid then Cave made him. More stupid.) and dies. She had been developing Chell, and that was her pride and joy.

Oooooooo!!! I like that!!!! Of course Caroline is girlbossing and Cave has to mess everything up. Typical, but it is also so interesting!! I like the Companion Cube-Cores thing a lot

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again
