I'm trying to make a post on the villain squad that isn't salty towards wwx and lwj and I'm not doing well. So I'll try to make it quick.

The villain squad haven't actively done anything evil for years. All of their actions in the current time are reactions to other characters who want them dead.

The fatal flaw that gets them in the end isn't that they turn on each other or that they don't care, they actually care too much. It isn't having bad plans or bad teamwork or doing bad things or doing things badly, they just are always, always weaker than the heroes.

They never have the upper hand, they're desperate and still never have enough leverage to even get away with their lives. They are completely outdone by power alone. The power of the heroes. Who want them to die. They're defined by their powerlessness in, like, every way.

They're the outcasts, they're the underdogs, they're the ones trying to survive and also the ones making things better (well. well ok maybe not xue yang on that last part. but like. whatever.) with the systems that are in place. And they are never enough. Not enough to save each other, not enough to save themselves. Boxed into a fate with no other choice, just like it's always been and no one wants to hear it and now no one ever will.

WangXian are travelling as they do and they enter this cozy little food place for a bite. Of course everyone starts gossiping, because it's not often you see the Hanguang-Jun and the Yiling Patriarch around these parts - and they all kind of expect the usual mean, outlandish stuff about how the beacon of righteousness of the Lan sect has been tainted etc, etc.

What they don't expect is...

Wei Ying blinks three times, then realization hits him so hard he almost falls off his chair.

I'm not sure how to articulate it but it's interesting to me that the two people responsible for pulling the strings of most of the cultivation world are notably weak cultivators

Jason and Rose have been discussing for a while regarding Jason becoming a plantsim. Jason’s brought it up casually in numerous conversations but Rose has always been hesitant as she wanted Jason to be 100% sure - you lose a lot of things after becoming plantsim y’know? The ability to sleep comes to mind. Jason quickly reassured her that this is what he wants and seeing his sincerity, Rose happily blew some pollen in his face.

And poof! Jason’s in his plantsim era now.

Wei Wuxian hasn’t been back for long before he first hears of the Golden Ghost. Or perhaps more accurately- reads about it.

He wakes up in a barn, confused, memories of his own death swimming just behind a wall he refuses to break, angry cuts etched deep into his skin, and aches deep in his bones that are from more than just a ritual, to find a note.

It states, quite clearly, ‘you should kill them before the Golden Ghost comes looking. He’s terrible vengeful wretched impatient He’s bitter.’ Then, below, scribbled a little more hastily and underlined thrice. “He’s real.”

The note isn’t signed- because of course not, not like Wei Wuxian knows who he’s supposed to be, or who he’s supposed to be killing. Just a command that he should get to killing before some ‘ghost’- and Wuxian doubts it’s a Ghost, but who knows- decides to show up and rain destruction and devastation on them all.

He puts it out of his mind, tucks it far away, it lingers a little when he hears those two Lan juniors discuss how much unprecedented demonic energy is occurring here- but if there was such a new and recent Ghost- within the last thirteen years- surely they would be talking about that as the cause? There would be no question, no doubt as to the cause if there were truly a new Ghost about.

Unless it’s old. But it’s not old. Wei Wuxian has run his mind over and over, and can’t even think of any rumours or fables about a Ghost called a Golden one. Not even rumours like those ludicrous ones about a Ghost, centuries old, that flooded whole river valleys and decimated Great Sects so only five remained.

There can’t be a Ghost.

I may have solved my Horrible Terrible No-Good Unpronounceable Unspellable Last Name conundrum by uh. Doing a direct translation. Which is something I could use as a ‘stage’ name / username for whenever I end up getting the chance to Have A Go at tattooing for real again. Which would need an instagram presence and maybe like business cards or just a handle that is rememberable & findable for ppl in my physical immediacies instead of like. Whoever I’m trying to impress by substituting ‘u’s with ‘v’s currently lol.

Theoretical way it could work if sangcheng got married but kept running their respective sects: each could spend, say, a total of 1/4 of the year in the other’s home sect, meaning that they get to be together for half the year but that their home sects have the benefit of having their sect leader around for a whole 3/4 of the year. Math!

Actual way it WOULD work: Yunmeng Jiang disciples very frequently suggesting that they can handle things here and zongzhu can go visit his husband for a short period of time if he would like :) (translation: it’s been a month since the last time Jiang Cheng last kissed his husband and he is SO fucking cranky and his disciples are quite frankly sick of it)

but none of these characters had actual good growth for me, in terms of romantic relationships, that i'm kinda like...

well yeah, i want naruto/sakura to have ended up together, bc at least i could see and believe in their friendship to turn it into romance

i just. i just felt like even at fifteen, sakura was stuck at twelve, and made such little effort to understand sas*ke, and the same honestly goes for naruto! for all the fact he wants his friend back! i don't think he understood him at all!

and i needed more! to have got it! to have seen these two as actual friends! to have been more moved in the fallout! and the constant conflicts they have!

why were you allergic to emotional growth!!!!!
