What do you think about Jaya dynamic in this season?

ok. honestly? i liked it…….

i’m a sucker for jaya and they’re acting exactly like I thought they would. jay being reluctant to receive help and companionship, and nya butting heads with him and being stubborn and not taking no for an answer, and jay caving because wow this lady is so annoying, there’s no point in arguing with her ? Yeah that’s them to me

yeah yeah, I know, the “i will always hate you” stuff floating around, maybe it’s weird to see jay behaving like this with nya, but I don’t mind it. they could play around with it in part 2, for all we know , but even if they don’t, idk, that makes sense to me? his eyes turned red in that moment, it was probably the influence of shatterspin lol

and it’s not like Jay has warmed up to her. he “let her” help him down the stairs, but then in the next scene, we see that he’s walking on his own with nya close by. I have a feeling he pushed her off when she finally would let him go . he’s only at the monastery because he needs treatment , he wouldn’t have gone with them willingly otherwise. he doesn’t LIKE the ninja, doesn’t ask them permission from stuff, he avoids them, says rude things to them. He probably tones it down with Nya cuz… she’s Nya. She already punched him once, he’s probably not looking to get punched again

I liked their bickering too. the “why do you wanna help me?” / “because I know who you are, you big dummy” is just…. Ohhh it’s so perfect. Literally exactly how I thought they would act. Nya isn’t taking nonsense from Jay because she knows him, he’s not some big tough mercenary with a cold heart, he’s just a guy with a lot of feelings that are pretty hurt right now 😭

but also, important to remember, Jay still retains a lot of his interests, even if he doesn’t have the memories that relate to them. You don’t have to remember stuff to have emotional reactions to certain things . there’s probably something about her that makes him feel warm and fuzzy, even if it’s underneath anger and frustration. after all, he still loves video games, he’s been inventing… and he’s still got that perpetually uncomfortable demeanor 😭

but yeah. idk. I should wait until p2 to say more about them, but so far, I LOVE them so much… Jaya you will always be real to me

thinking abt the significance of balekin looking nearly identical to cardan. not enough for people being unable to tell them apart, but enough for jude to point it out often.

could have fueled cardans hatred for jude seeing that she had a similar looking and loving sibling while he had a similar looking sibling that treated him like garbage.

he once asked jude if having a twin made her feel like she was doubled or half of herself, which makes me wonder how he would’ve felt.

with his and balekins contrasting ideals, ways of living, and views of the world, i imagine he felt quite like balekins half. but he protected himself by acting like balekin, cold and cruel. He played at being balekins mirror rather than his half.

only balekin really saw the side of him that was like his half. this could also explain more of why balekin beats him, if he sees cardan as his weaker half. further seeing him as the embodiment of all of his failures?

meanwhile, cardan saw jude and Taryn’s contrasting personalities, but saw that they still loved each other. despite being so different and looking so alike, it’s hard to tell what Cardan thought of them. if they were halves of one whole or doubles. mirrored faces but opposite personalities.

also makes me wonder if his outlook on human twins as a whole played a role in how he felt abt them. must’ve been awfully confusing to see two twinned humans in a world where there’s no such thing lol. the closest thing the fae have to twins is changelings, and it’s heavily implied that Judes like Taryn’s faerie changeling. (Her horns, her wit, etc)

despite how it may have irritated him that jude received love from a sibling, he must’ve felt similar to jude, because they both were halves of one whole in a sense. both trying to please their elder sibling.

jude was the superior half compared to Taryn (sorry but this is just how cardan perceived it) bc she could fight and was smart and stood up for herself, meanwhile he was the widely regarded inferior brother to balekin. still, they both worked hard to become more like their siblings, or to at least put on that front. and cardan recognized that. he recognized Taryn’s influence (her warning jude off of fighting back), and jude later recognized balekins influence on Cardan.

add on: this could also be why he so adamantly dislikes Taryn. he sees his weakness in her. and unlike cardan, Taryn never really stands up for herself. not to jude, not to Locke, not to their circle. if jude is the superior sibling, like balekin to cardan, then cardan is the inferior, like Taryn, right? i think he would dislike having to be similar to someone that allows themself to be walk all over. Cardan hates to be perceived as weak. Goes out of his way to avoid it.

i think this may have drawn them to one another. Jude’s willingness to “ally” w him. cardans falling for her. they just understood eachother on a deeper level bc they shared the wrath of an older sibling lol

add on: i like how Taryn’s betrayal came right before the kidnapping. i like how cardan was sorta included(or atleast aware) and i like how jude asked him abt it. and then balekins wrath is an obvious theme in that convo. then they smooched it up. i like to think its bc they understood each other on a deeper level. not just jude trying to torment him. Jude realized that they were more similar than she ever bothered to realize. hence the smooching and hence the enjoying?

later, in marriage, they no longer have to play at some false persona, no longer have to please an elder brother or appeal to an elder sisters needs.

The simple opinion of mine: i hate lucifer sm it's not even because I am Christian i am not even fucking Christian never touched the holy Bible or water in my life or I hate the devil so bad, I literally just hate him. That's it. I hate him

The long answer:Listen, in all honestness, I can see how people like him. I know my hatred is overdramatic (IT TRUELY IS🫠) because it's the same equivalent to hating pickachu, and he isn't the worst character ever, even through his actions, but he's like the first ever character that I truly purely hate and it's insane because I know characters who are worse and are (rightfully) hated but even then I don't hate them as much as I hate lucifer.

I been in MANY fandoms to know the amount of mischaracterization that can happen to fictional characters from a show, ESPECIALLY popular ones, but Lucifer is the only one where his mischaracterization (his fanon version you could say) actually fucking bothers me, so much so it really ruins the character for me enough I start disliking them. And to top it alllll off, the fandom is SOO misogynistic(another hot ass take of mine that would set me burning in trenches by the fandom) that ofc the woman that he is CANONLY has a romatic status with (idk if they are still together or not but people hate it so!) is absolutely hated on, simply for existing with just having questionable motived that we have zero clue about whenever or it not its good or bad, but it doesnt fucking matter bc she made poor litwle ducky daddy showrt kingy luCi (i fucking hate that nickname sm omg) sad boi so she needs to dieeee💥💥💥💥💥!!!!

It has never went this far before because I always knew that no matter how much a character gets ooc by the fandom, the canon show and creator will remind me why it will always stay fanon, but I have seen Vivs work and how she treats these kinds of characters and their developments..so seeing the fandoms (luci fans) take of Lucifer and Viv literally engaging with it...his actual character doesn't seem to be too far off with how they portray him--and that actual concerns me because as much as I hate lucifer, it really comes from how wasted his potential is and how the show seems to dismiss his faults and flaws(**cough**cough** like stolas**COUGH**CoUgh**)

So just to be even MORE CLEARER, my hatred is not bc of how he's characterized in hazbin-- like ik typically, if a person were to think of the king of HELL they would think all evil all cruel all mean alll torture all bad no good and clearly-he's not like that which is not bad at all actually- I like it even, i just hate how the writers never really GO that FAR with him. Like being a absolute prick isn't enough, I need to be reminded WHY he's the king of hell again, why he's is the original SIN OF PRIDE, and not "He's SooOoo prIdEfuL that he LoCks hImsElf iN a RooOm to Be DepRessO wiTH nO exPressO bC he RatHer .DIE. tHaN adMiT heLp"...I feel like if Charlie actually stand up MORE to him and like actually bring up about him being a fuckup dad (not dismissing that he never loved her, he clearly truely did before and now) and didn't immediately forgive him(as much as how cute that song was, it was wayy too soon), it would've empathize a lot of how much he fucked up as parent and that he actually needs to learn and improve which will be hard him but hardship makss good character development--if the show will FULLY knowledge it-which i have hope they will since we got like- 3 seasons to go so.

I could keep going and actually dive deeper on this by bringing up references from the show but I won't bc if I keep on typing LUCIFER on my phone screen I will lose my sanity 🫠🫠

(Also FYI, I wrote this whole rant at 4 in the morning so sorry if my shit don't make sense. The whole point is I hate lucifer but I also want to see him improve but like GOOD improvement yk? By knowledging his mistakes and change his ways)

I rlly liked Chandas demon form. Tbh i wish more characters got redesigns/ alternate forms. Mainly the UIs, chanda being the only one to really self actualize his appearance feels like wasted potential to me.

Maddies grandma existing in ep one and then never existing again 😔

Reminds me like.. the maddie being bullied thing felt so important at the start but then it’s entirely resolved in one episode. Not saying i enjoyed seeing her getting bullied cuz i definitely didnt but it felt.. idk like what was the point if it was gonna be wrapped up so soon? Not that i can think of a better way to have handled it lol

Speaking of bullying what was nicoles deal 😭 i NEED to know why she’s beefing with caspian so hard because she fucking HATES him. I guess he’s just the classic autistic “quiet kid” and hes getting all the stigma that comes with that

Another thing is you could argue that a LOT of characters in this show especially in the main cast are autistic. Also a lot of characters are kind of assholes lol… so a ton of autistic assholes. We love that tbh (not David tho, autistic maybe but he was patient even with casp post time skip and 💀 bro i mean given the situation he probably couldnt afford to get angry about it considering the task at hand, but I certainly wouldve had something to say) in all seriousness tho i do love how autistic coded a lot of characters seem it makes me happy.

The animation is.. inconsistent in quality at times

Every once in a while (this isnt a great example but its what i have saved) theyll have the characters move their heads a bit or smth to be more fluid ig but there isnt enough frames or smth so it looks choppy. Other times it looks amazing but i can think of at least two times, both in s2, one with pope and one with casp where that happens (pope talking with renee at that bar and caspian talking to maddie on the plane while he’s comparing mist to a tumor)

I have more takes i just worry im being mostly negative at this point and while i could come up with more positive things to say as well, its getting late, or early depending on how you look at it 💀

Assorted Pantheon thoughts

Just recently finished watching the show and wanted to put my thoughts down somewhere, full spoilers under the cut

Going to be forever salty with how poorly this series was treated by AMC, between being stuck on their shitty streaming service and being written off for tax purposes

Overall I think the first season is a bit stronger than the second, the emotional hook of Maddie's relation with her dad was amazing and I don't think the second season was able to get something quite as compelling

that said I do think it was the right call to kill off David at the end of the first season

In general I feel the first two episodes are an incredible start

One of the best complements I can give to the first two episodes is that they were able to get my mom who never watches animated stuff like this onboard with the show

Chanda's uploading scene was disturbing in the best way possible

I really liked Chanda's role in the first season even when he turns in an antagonist you can understand his logic and motivations

Unfortunately he felt underutilized in season 2

Wonder if Chanda and the others could have fought Holstrom alongside Caspian, they could still have the same fate but it would make them feel like they have more of a contribution instead of something that needs to be gotten out of the way before the main event

The direction of the show was consistently amazing, a few moments that stood out to me was Chanda looping the virtual office, Laurie's message getting cut off transitioning to the credits of episode 7, Caspian exploring Yair's removed memories, and Maddie with all the simulated realities in dyson sphere

In general I feel like they did I good job making the digital world feel different from the real world with the editing, the more actiony fight scenes for the uploaded characters, and the more crazy digital character designs both before and after the 20 year time skip

In particular I like how the fight at the end of season one looked with Chanda and David modifying their appearances, exemplified that the feeling of difference between the worlds really well

Caspian's fake abusive family was really interesting to watch play out over the first half of season 1 and the reveal of him being a clone felt shocking yet makes perfect sense

really liked the unstated horror that Hanna/Rachel was probably going to be killed to push Caspian

Middle of season two felt maybe a little formulaic, with them trying to find a UI that would be the right one to cure over several episodes

That said I feel the ideas they explored with the various UI's where really interesting so I don't think its that big of an issue

From what I understand the show was always meant to be two seasons and the cancellation did not effect that, but I really wish the last two episodes could have been a whole season, there is so much interesting stuff going on there

Though I am impressed how much they managed to fit in those two episodes, in particular I liked seeing what Maddie was doing over the 20 years

Really wish we could have gotten a scene of Maddie deciding to upload if nothing else

definitely plan to rewatch the show at some point to see what I catch on a second go around

it might sound like I am being a bit more negative on season two, but I still really enjoyed it, and it got me thinking a lot, especially the last two episodes

Overall I would give it a 9/10

I keep thinking about the fact that as soon as Rio appears to Agatha in the forest, we see the exact moment their century-long love affair comes to an end. Like as soon as Agatha says 'if you do this, I will hate you forever', that's it. Agatha knows it. Rio absolutely knew what would happen going into it. It's done.

So Rio does the only thing she can and delays, gives them all a little more time in limbo (and I have a lot of thoughts about how much Rio pushes that envelope throughout the series - Rio, at pretty much every turn, gives Agatha more time).

But then they're stuck. Forced into a macabre tragedy, and all they can do is wait. 'I will hate you forever' - but not quite now, not quite yet. 'IF you do this' - but what happens to those feelings when you're waiting for that 'if' to become 'when'?

Not a grace period, never that - neither of them are gentle enough for something so kind. But a slow and inevitable decay of a love that was precious, once.

And so the cycle turns once more from life to Death.

I think some folks MAY have gotten the wrong idea about how I feel about Circe with some of my posts. So, to clear the air...

Homies, I love that fucked up sorceress.

I love how we're never given a reason why she turns people into animals. That's so funny and so awful. And another potion-making magic gal?!?! I love that she's just basically vibing on an island doing whatever she wants. I even love the fact that she scares Odysseus shitless! She's morally gray and that's why she's FUN.

I just sincerely hate when people try to girlboss her or have her be a victim of SA when she never was Looking at you, Miller. Especially when she was actually the one who coerced Odysseus in exchange for his men being transformed back into humans. And even then, while he was clearly afraid of her, (it's in the language of the Odyssey) she likely meant him no harm after a certain point. He just didn't know that.

Why does she need a reason to do awful things? Why can't she just be a goddess who does whatever she wants? That's the reason why I love her!!! She's fucked up!!! :D

Cursed Technique is Absorption (meaning she can absorb cursed energy). This is subject to possible change!

This is just a very very brief summary Momoka grew up in a very neglectful and abusive home. The abuse only made worse by her ability to see Curses. Eventually she is sold to a cult wherein she eventually meets and is rescued by Geto after he takes it over. (Their relationship does not start good though as Momoka attempts to kill him as he sleeps but he is able to catch her and is able to convince her he has no intentions to hurt her or any other sorcerers)

Momoka quickly falls in love with Geto and develops a unhealthy obsession with him and becomes blindlessly devoted to him. Revering the ground he walks on and seeing him as a saviour and god. These feelings are mostly one-sided but not completely... he likes her enough... I think In certain aus he certainly likes her more than others and they share a bit of a healthier dynamic lol

Unlike Geto though, Momoka hates both regular humans and Sorcerers alike due to her trauma at the hands of both groups. In her mind all of humanity (aside from Geto and their “family”) is disgusting and non-deserving of life/protection. And that's all for now! She's a bit underdeveloped because I'm quite behind in the series but she's a fun character since she's a lot darker than my other ones! Also I have two separate routes for her ending (depending on whether or not her and Geto have a child together) and neither end happily 🥰
