i like how prince dain and prince balekin just casually go to madocs house in the first book. like that’s funny to me. i wonder if they ever peered at jude and came to the conclusion that she was madocs spy (dain), while balekin came to the conclusion she was just better than cardan at everything.

also makes dains and balekins weird relationships w her a lot worse seeing as they would’ve known her since she were a child. not sure if they care abt that tho since they’re old as fuck and never age, maybe they’re used to seeing future lovers grow up ? (🤮)

random note: I find it majorly funny that jude mentions having spoken w balekin before (in early tcp), but never brings it up again. like girl what did u even talk abt w that old fuck!

ALSO how she’s totally wooed and shocked that dain (the crown prince) would call upon her, but doesn’t gaf abt balekin whatsoever. doesn’t reminisce on past convos. willingly goes into his house to fuck shit up. gosh i love her

but she was probably living rent free in balekins mind if u think abt it. dude used her to ridicule cardan, all while technically putting her on a pedestal. And dain did the same. they all technically acknowledged her cunning and strengths and whatnot. Jude was on ALL the greenbriar princes minds (i know a baddie when i read one)

As much as I'm eating up the recent " We Both Reached For The Gun " edits on the clock app I feel like most people haven't watched Chicago and missed the point of the song which was subverting the truth.

If I used tfota for example ( my blog is 97.9% about tfota, what did you expect ?? ) everybody is making edits of Jude and Madoc both making a grab for the blood crown. which they did, that's just the truth. But if it was Cardan and Balekin both trying for the throne it would be used correctly. Cardan didn't want anything to do with the throne but this song makes it like he did and the rest of Elfhame believes that he wanted to be King.

I just woke up and feeling controversial, so isn't it so funny that the tfota fandom is like:

about locke, dain, balekin: yeah I hate him but I can admit that's he's a good/important character! Also he's hot!

One of my funniest headcanons is Cardan finding out that Balekin forced Jude to kiss him and having an absolute fit over it

I just remembered that Balekin was the one who told Madoc where Jude and Taryn's mom was after she ran away from Elfhame. So Balekin's the reason Madoc took Jude, Vivi and Taryn back to Elfhame with him which indirectly caused Jude to kill Balekin all those years later. He would've still been alive if he weren't such a snitch lmao what a loser.

Reminder that Cardan himself felt trapped:

Extract from The Lament of Lutie-Loo, just before this the descriptions of the girl and boy are given, revealing them to be Nicasia and Cardan. Balekin has Lutie-Loo trapped in a cage made of woven gold, as he wanted to use her to help him get his father's crown. From this, we can tell that this takes place before The Cruel Prince.
