Was just reminded of prime empire and how that was basically supposed to be jays “focus season” considering kai had the fire chapter, Zane the ice chapter, Nya seabound, and Cole motm- and well yeah, clearly prime empire is SUPPOSED to be a Jay season by how it kinda focuses more on his at the beggining but especially by the end where he confronts Unagami and has that whole speech/talk about being abandoned by your parents.

Thing is many times I just kinda forget that’s it’s supposed to be a Jay season because from what I remember he doesn’t rlly seem to have any sort of arc is struggle he has to overcome in it (other than uk, evil video game but uk what I mean- personal struggle) and by the end when he’s talking about being abandoned by his parents to me it feels underwhelming. It didn’t feel significant, it came out of nowhere. YEAH we do know about jays parents abandoning him in Skybound. But after that? There’s like NO references towards the fact at all. And it’s especially an issue in prime empire because they just brought the fact up out of nowhere for the grand season finale. LIKE?!?!

It would have been a thousand times better if we actually saw Jay reflecting about his birth parents and how he was abandoned. Perhaps in the season we could discover that has a huge toll on him actually. Making him doubt himself, doubting his worth. His desire to know what happened gnawing at him. Perhaps he drowns himself in video games to not think about it too much and that would be a cool way to tie in how he gets trapped in prime empire in the first place. It would have been great to see some actual GROWTH. Some actual BUILD UP. To that FUCKASS finale because ohmylord i don’t feel anything towards the ending of prime empire because it didn’t feel like a good payoff to ANYTHING.

my darling friends have asked me to post some rambly discord analysis of vio. and i love them . and i love you.

i feel that the way that vio treats himself throughout the manga is very much as like . a tool. a very good tool ! the only tool that can get the job done even ! but still a tool rather than like . a fully realized individual . it is soooooooooo good to see the way he comes out of his shell after shadow fails to execute him. like it truly was a turning point for him .

i think so much abt when shadow found him trying to shatter the dark mirror. perhaps it was Not an active choice on akira himekawa's part but the fact that vio doesnt even try to escape when shadow realizes what he was trying to do. like man they didnt even spare a Single panel to show him being worried or upset abt the horde of hinox's moving to grab him. i imagine it can be inferred but the Lack of showing it makes vio look like he just . totally didnt try. he acted very impulsively and put everything into this plan -> cannot imagine recovering from this . absolutely no trust in the other colors as well. makes it allll the more delicious that they come and rescue him and it is stupid and looneytunes and lovely.

★   .   CONTEXT OF #PILLPOPPYING

TRIGGER  WARNINGS:  mentions  of  mental  and  physical  struggles,  drug  dependency,  harassment,  invasion  of  privacy.

there are some layers to this so i will try to explain:  first of all,  poppy struggles both physically and mentally  (she doesn’t have much energy most of the time,  really bad migraines,  insomnia,  anxiety,  depression),  so she’s pretty dependent on her prescribed meds since these help her keep up with the crazy schedule as an idol / be a normal human being lmao.  she’s been dependent on them ever since she was a little ballerina held by high expectations!  she needed and still needs help!!!!! 

she’s never shared this with fans because,  ofc,  it’s nobody’s business!  but that changed when a saesang started spreading rumors about seeing her  pill  popping  before stepping on stage during the  LUCKY  GIRL  SYNDROME  era.  angels and others immediately went after the saesang for being a freak and for invading her space,  but some people were left wondering if they were right...  stans of other groups jumped on the rumor to attack poppy and hiraeth,  but angels usually always clapped back with  are u rlly believing a saesang?!  anyway.  poppy nor their management acknowledged this topic or rumors. 

but then!!!!  before the group started prepping for their  (then controversial,  now iconic)  ARMAGEDDON  era,  one of yvan’s known saesangs  (who their team had already flagged as dangerous)  broke into poppy’s bedroom and filmed the mf cocktail of meds on her bedside table,  and some of the medications shown in the video were banned in south korea.  and yes,  this caused a massive media frenzy with police getting involved for two reasons:  a saesang committing a crime and poppy being accused of possessing illegal medication.

and well!  the truth was that poppy had all the proper documentation and medical history to prove she wasn’t breaking any laws,  but,  of courseeeeeeeee,  the media and knetizens didn’t care at first,  and the whole situation exploded without the facts.  other stans added fuel to the fire,  not because they cared about her being a possible drug addict  /  a criminal,  but because they juss wanted to talk shit! 

anyway.  the saesang eventually admitted they did that to turn public opinion against either kaia or poppy,  as their fans were getting a little too cocky and kept bringing up yvan’s bullying scandal which was soooo old news!!!  charges were filed against the saesang,  but none were filed against poppy due to the authorized documentation of her meds.  even so,  the incident kinda hurted her public image,  and the group faced a wave of hate  (not only because of this.  the other two were getting hated on for other reasons,  too)  until management released a final statement clearing poppy’s name.  they emphasized her medical history and explained the misunderstanding around the meds’ mmmmm legality

as time went on,  things started calming down,  and the scandal even sparked conversations about idol's mental health and started leaving her alone.  but ofc not everyone were ready to let such a scandal go!!!!!  so,  some people clung  (and still clings to it)  and created the hashtag #pillpoppying to try to drag her reputation down.  ironically tho,  what was meant to be a smear somehow turned into something funny for angels…  like yeah…  they probably were very  :/  when the tag started trending but then they realized how ridiculous it was.  like even poppy addressed it on bubble eventually,  saying that she hated the hashtag not because of the context,  but because she found the gameplay funnie…  so yeah,  this ae.linkie’s context is tied to one of poppy’s old scandals.  it’s kind of like,  “u can’t use this to hate when we already think it’s funny ourselves.  even poppy thinks it’s funny!!!”
