Binghe shouts back, "No! Shizun can't see Binghe like this!" Shen Qingqiu, angry, goes, "This unruly disciple..." while Binghe goes, "It's truly fine, really!" and then shouts "OUCH!"

Shen Qingqiu rolls up his sleeve. "Okay that's it, this master is coming in. One, two--" Binghe finally cracks open the door, sliding in. Shen Qingqiu scolds, "Luo Binghe! You can't scare me like that! If you are hurt you must tell m--"

Shen Qingqiu flips to an uncolored style as his gaze moves up. He stops talking and stares, open-mouthed and surprised. Luo Binghe is revealed to now be several heads taller than him, broad enough that his robes show most of his chest, and in possession of fangs and large, curling red horns. He looks away ashamedly and says, "This unsightly Binghe is sorry, Shizun. I never wished for Shizun to see me like this. I thought once I learned to control my blood I wouldn't have to look like this anymore..."

There's no response, and a chibi Luo Binghe asks with distress, "Shizun? Please say something..." Shen Qingqiu finally returns to color, thinking with wide eyes, "I've never been so horny in my ~entire life~". End ID]

Y'know... not to bring this up, but as a fat girlie I feel like it needs to be said-

Nandermo getting decimated after the build-up of what was seeming to be something grand and amazing up thru s3 not only for queer representation but also a fat character finally getting to have a happy ending with their more conventionally attractive love interest just feels like such a letdown in, like, five categories at once, lmao

Shadows started going downhill for me after the s3 finale, and luckily some other hyperfixations swooped in to occupy my brain by the time s5 rolled around, so I'm not nearly as bitter about the whole thing as I could have been. But still. STILL.

We really lost out on SO MUCH. And for what?? So the writers could stay in their dumb little comfort zone??? Gimme a fuckin' break.

We could have had a CANON VAMPIRE/HUMAN MIXED RACE MIXED WEIGHT EXPLICITLY ROMANTIC GAY PAIRING, but they decided "sitcom vibes" and shoehorning in "lol throwbacks" to s1 were more important (and truthfully, those aspects only made the finale that much more unfunny).

Anyway, in short, Nadja's hypnosis tragically did NOT work, and another fat character got cheated out of a satisfying culmination to (what was once) a stellar narrative lmao

I think it’s interesting how as time goes on Zoro kind of becomes more and more like mihawk in some ways whether that’s just because if you spend time with someone for 2 years you’re bound to pick up their habits or a deliberate attempt to emulate him is a conversation for another time. And Mihawk and Zoro where already pretty similar at the start so it’s a little hard to notice now.

But yeah whether unconsciously or consciously Zoro is becoming a bit more like Mihawk and it’s interesting to think that while this means maturing in some ways (he’s swordsmanship for one but he’s also just quieter much more assured of himself) it also means deaging in some others.

Despite their significant age gap and general dispositions, when it comes down to it Zoro is just a lot more emotionally mature and developed than Mihawk is. And a big part of why is because he found something larger than himself to devote his life too, hell Mihawk himself even kind of acknowledges this when he agrees to take Zoro on as a student when Zoro begs for the sake of his captain and crew. He acknowledges that putting aside his own ego and dreams for the sake of someone else isn’t something he can do and sees it as a fault in himself and a strength in Zoro.

Mihawk may be outwardly mature and his skills defiently did not stagnant but I’d wager that Mentally Mihawk is still stuck at the same age he was when he took over the title of world’s strongest swordsman. Honestly maybe even younger. And it isn’t until training Zoro, letting Perona stay with him, for probably the first time in his life taking charge of lives outside his own did he finally unarrest his development.

If Zoro is purposely trying to emulate Hawkeyes, which it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was that’s who he’s trying to be Afterall, then it would honestly set him back emotionally because fundamentally as he is now Mihawk’s attitude doesn’t work in a crew. It’s too singular, too abrasive. And while that abrasiveness can be useful in Zoro’s role as Luffy’s first mate sometimes it makes him a little too callous a little too apathetic, like with his disregard for Luffy’s sadness over vegapunk.

But Zoro has his crew to temper that, they are honestly just too ridiculous to ever stay serious around. And try as he might to hide it Zoro is also just a silly dude who likes to be horrifically petty with his opponents. And zoro still has so much fire in him, so much he has too prove and so much he wants to protect to ever really fall into Mihawk’s apathy. Zoro has Luffy who even after they reach their dreams will probably still continue to turn the world upside down forever keeping Zoro in some kind of trouble and his life interesting.

Zoro can’t be Mihawk because even Mihawk can’t be Mihawk anymore. Being with crossguild and crossing with the Red hair pirates and the strawhats is going to change him, it has too. if Mihawk is going to live after losing his title he’s probably gonna have to become a little bit more like Zoro.

I haven't seen anyone talk about Charles' little blink-and-you'll-miss-it line in episode 8 where he is visibly disturbed by Jenny being "Forced to sing a Belinda Carlisle song" while she's possessed by David the Demon. He laments this offense in the same sentence where he's talking about the horrors of possession. He visibly cringes, shivers even, when he makes the statement...as if he sees them as equally jarring offenses. Sure, being possessed is a lot, but she had to sing a pop song on top of that? The horror! Comedy gold.

That's not all though!! This little piece of dialogue not only serves as a fantastic and subtle bit of consistent characterization for Charles (ofc as an eternal 16 year old self-proclaimed "rude boy" with a love of ska and punk he would be averse to any overplayed pop artist during his lifetime) but it's also a bit meta. Why? Because Belinda Carlisle is undoubtedly best known for her 1987 hit single "Heaven Is A Place On Earth." You know, the song with lines such as:

I don't think elaboration is necessary; you guys get what I'm laying down here. Hilarious.

It's a teeny-tiny detail, but I was just absolutely tickled by it and thought I'd share. The writing in this show fills me with unbridled joy that I can hardly contain - nothing feels unintentional and I need 50 more seasons.
