#gideon the ninth spoilers

In Nona the Ninth there's a part where we find out that Pal-Cam already knew Harrow has a crush on Gideon. And with how things are in this book, let's assume everyone knew about it (except Gideon of course). So the question is, what did they thought about it?

Second House: Judith slowly observes every part of Gideon, then briefly glances at Martha: "Yeah, I can understand"

Third House: Full night of gossip in the bed (Babs is on the floor), they dissect every part of it. Corona thinks they would make a cute couple. Ianthe claims Harrow can find a better partner (for obvious reasons)

Fourth House: They canonically thought they were dating.

Fifth House: Abigail is wondering whether she should tell Gideon about it, or let her find out herself. Magnus is already looking up Ninth House marriage traditions, and is wondering if they can get an invitation to the wedding.

Sixth House: Cam and Pal are making bets whether they fcked already, or Gideon is truly this oblivious.

Sevent House: "I had a nice girl once" *proceeds to break down* (seriously, she planned to make Gideon hers)

Eight House: "OF COURSE THEY DO THAT! EVERYTHING THE NINTH DOES IS BLASPHEMY!"

Bonus: Jod (if he ever finds out): "So you're saying that the daughter I want to adopt is in love with my daughter I never knew about?" *sips some tea*

Im sorry but can we please talk about the parallels between harrows reaction to Gideon in gtn and harrows reaction to the sword in htn?? Like I was rereading htn and one line really stuck out to me about harrows feelings about the sword, it went something like “you hated its presence, but the world without it would be unimaginable”. That basically sums up harrows feelings about Gideon for like 3 quarters of gtn

I think its really interesting though how even though she cant remember Gideon, she knew she needed to keep the sword and kind of subconsciously replaced Gideon with something that had once belonged to her

Small Gideon the Ninth stuff what's been spinning around my head, and it would've been cool if it happened.

In the end, Gideon sacrifices herself to save Harrow by turning her into a Lyctor. We know that for Lyctorhood, the necromancer must consume a small part of the cavalier(few drops of blood is enough)

So what if, before commiting suicide, Gideon bites her lips, and kisses Harrow, both as a way to show her affection, and to feed Harrow with her blood. Then she kills herself.

Just sitting here, with this thought spinning around my head.

When the Saint of Duty stabs Harrow with his spear, it's in the chest and stomach, approx the same areas where we know Gideon was impaled by the fence. "The spear was removed. You still remembered acutely what that felt like"

the love triangle in TLT is so funny because it's not even a true love triangle. it's like a shape that hasn't even been invented yet. first you've got Ianthe, who thinks Harrow is totally into her but isn't. and Harrow is into Gideon but also this really sexy corpse. the sexy corpse was maybe probably in a relationship with Gideon's dad who's also the leader of the solar system. he hooks up with his officers sometimes and has hooked up with his best friends over the last 10,000 years because they were bored. Ianthe also has this weirdly borderline incestuous relationship with Coronabeth but Coronabeth is in love with Judith who had a crush on her now-dead cavalier. the only ones who've got a semi-normal relationship are Camilla and Palamedes and even then they had a weird poly thing with Dulcinea even though they never met her in person. and they have another weird poly thing with Pyrrha but by that point they're sharing a body. then they decide to do a mutual suicide/soul binding ritual and become a whole new person in Camilla's body. also they're second cousins. oh Pyrrha also had a weird poly thing with her necro and Gideon's biomom/the leader of the rebellion who's fighting against Gideon's biodad. I don't even have time to unpack all that and that doesn't even cover half of the shit happening here. there's also the whole Cytherea thing
