My self-indulgent Champion Swap AU with Nemona and Leon :]

Uh expect more content of this, cuz this AU has been gripping my brain for the past week or so ahahah

More rambling under cut:

Nemona:

Whereas regular Leon's dream is for Galar's trainers to be the strongest in the world, Swap Nemona's dream is to simply get more people to enjoy Pokémon battling.

Despite the Galar League's uber-competitive attitude, Nemona has always prioritized having a good Pokémon battle over winning. The title of "Undefeated Champion" exhausts her.

I'm not entire sure who her ace/Dynamax Pokémon would be. Probably either Pawmot or her starter Pokémon.

If I knew Goroawase (Japanese wordplay with numbers), I would've given Nemona a number other than 1. I'll probably look into it more.

I'm thinking the other player character (Victor/Gloria) would replace Hop in this AU. Nemona helped raise them/was really close to them in childhood and they're siblings in all but blood.

Her family is still rich and on the board of the Rotom Phone company. Nemona's Champion status is excellent for sponsorships, but her family still rarely contacts her.

While Nemona's struggle with throwing Pokéballs is publicly well-known, it is NOT something she is made fun of for. >:(

Leon:

I'm gonna be real, I know way more about Nemona in general over Leon :']

While having a similar passion for Pokémon battling, Swap Leon is definitely more competitive compared to Nemona.

If he's not at the Academy or training around Paldea, he's at home taking care of his little brother Hop, who's almost ready to enroll at the Academy.

Experienced similar levels of isolation (and possibly bullying) compared to regular Nemona at the Academy. I'm still debating why specifically, but honestly? The Academy already seemed like a pretty awful place before the Team Star ordeal anyways :')

Still has Charizard as his ace. Bonded pair do not separate lol.

I did draw a version of Leon in the Naranja Academy uniform, he just looked better in the Uva Academy uniform hjkfhwk

okay so these are a popular thing people on tumblr do but I am like a senior citizen when it comes to social medias so I have never done one of these or even really participated in one. BASICALLY (if im getting this right) you can ask questions and I'll draw out the characters responding or reacting to them or whatever i dont know whats happening

It may take me a little while to do some of these bc im not very fast but idk i think i'd be a fun way to flesh out some lore!!!

i do just have to say though.................... i feel like people who really really loved the movie's portrayals of the characters are adding aspects of the show characters onto them? you know what i mean? like i see people say that adrien and marinette were more likeable in the movie than the show, when movie adrien didn't perform a single act of kindness in the entire 2 hours despite kindness being a core trait of adrien in the show? marinette was normal and not particularly weird at all and just kind of a generic protagonist? were adrien and marinette actually more interesting in the movie than the show, or are you just cherrypicking the aspects of them you like the from the show and putting them on the movie characters to make your favorite amalgamation?

marinette fell for adrien not because he showed vulnerability and forgiveness and kindness and opened his heart up to her.... but because he awkwardly tried to help her up after being kind of weirded out by her? so like i guess she thought he was hot and that was basically it? chat noir fell for ladybug not because she was strong and confident and showed determination in the face of fear... but because she begrudgingly helped him up in the middle of a battle? so like i guess he thought she was hot and that was basically it? they fell for each other over just the bare minimum interactions? most of their relationship was a montage? like, did the movie do the work to convince you of lovesquare's romantic potential, or did you go into the movie already shipping them because the show had already convinced you?

thats totally a valid way to enjoy the movie ftr! i'm just saying.... idk it's weird to see people praising the movie for being "better" when i feel like a lot of the enjoyment of the movie actually hinges on watching the show as context for their characters. and i guess im just a cringe slow-burn enjoyer but i find it weird that people are using "faster" as a synonym for "better"

And... I made an Emily redesign too...... *sniff sob /j* it's not final (like all my redesigns) I'm just trying get better at this design stuff and where better to do it except my current fixation ehhh?????

Long Emily design explanation/rant thing ignore it probably but pls dotn im desperate: I wanted to make her more round and soft cuzzz I love those typa designs I'm just a sucker for circle characters. Made her actually black and not fuckin gray cuz its a transformation to look more human and gentle(for me they go between two forms, their true ones that we see the first time we see them snd their human/softer ones if they ever interact with actual humans which... they usually dont.) Not a demon form tfff. In this version I wanted to put Emily in animal inspired features like... the sheep nose, ears, and hooves. Because she and Sera know that humans and about all beings love animals. Birds have sharp features mostly so they don't look as welcoming as they want to seem. I wanted Emily to look sheep likes and pretty much all the seraphim look more sheep like to make Lucifer stand out as the only one who was symbolized as a snake/goat(still don't know if I'll make him goat or make Lillith goat. I'll decide when I get there lmao). Justtt overalll wanted Emily to look more round, welcoming, and cute. I kept the freckles lighter than her skin color(even tho that's SUPER not accurate to what actually black people look like with freckles but whatevr) because it reminded me of fawns and.... sure Emily is a sheep but I still wanted to incorporate other cute animal traits with her cyz y not.
