okay so i& Do know a few other jewish folx in the fandom have talked about this before but. the discussion of racism in the a.soiaf/h.otd fandom suspiciously Never includes c.riston c.ole / f.abien f.rankel when he is explicitly a jewish man of color & its. weird. just. yeah. like yeah dgmw the meme of c.rispy c.ole is v funny but there is a conversation here that's not being had & it's very weird that his actions arent worse than some of the white men on the show yet he receives this reaction & men of color (& in this case) jewish men will always be held to a higher standard than white men.

sometimes i see fandom takes that are so disconnected from my understanding of a character/the source media i can't help but feel taken aback like where did you even get this... but i just scroll away and mind my own business 🫡 (and maybe quietly add new words to my filtered tags list 🫡) at the end of the day i can only respect the love someone has for a character, even if it's for someone i couldn't care less about.... that is the beauty of fandom. one man's mob character is another man's blorbo, etcetera

note : this was in fact written back in june during the great treebark drought and im only bringing it back from my drafts now

so martyn used to be in a (2nd-gen)group called "y.cast" in a different company than the one hes currently in, but when his contract ended he decided not to renew it, and left to his present company. hes still technically part of the group but bc his old company sucks they barely get to make any comebacks, so hes mostly focused on his soloist activities as "ITLW".

meanwhile, ren is in a (3rd-gen)group called "hct" as "RD"(hct is similar to nct, has a lot of members and lots of little sub-units), rens currently in a sub-unit called "hct nbh" and a duo called "octagon", hes the main-vocalist in both, and hes also an actor(id like to think that hes a bit like jongho from ateez, in that he likes to practice acting in the groups dorms, even back when he was still a trainee, and also bc main-vocal).

they had met each other before while promoting, but got really close when they were filming a K-drama together called "3rd Life" the first part of the life series, where they played "The King"(ren) and "The Hand"(martyn).

they never had any other public interactions, except martyn does talk about ren on bubble sometimes, and they both have a picture they took together on the back of their phone cases(similar to what wooyoung, changbin, and yeonjun did)

but after 3rd life was over, they would almost promote on the same week but would barely miss each other

like if ren had a comeback and promoted for about 2 weeks, then martyn would have a comeback immediately after ren had already finished promoting, so they never got to film any challenges together, and had the fans begging their companies to have them publicly interact at least once.

note : im open to name suggestions cause i dont think the group names are that good

BUT "hct" could stand for either "HermitCrafTers" or just "Hermit Culture Technology" like nct, and its funny to think of each hermitcraft season as smth similar to nct2020 like hct06

AND "octagon" could be like pentagon or we could go the nct route and name them "rendoc" instead so its kinda like dojaejung

i really didnt have any ideas for yogcast so i went with "y.cast", but if hct is an nct equivalent, then i think y.cast is sort of like btob(y.cast has cube or fnc group vibes, idk why, but i had btob and n.flying in mind when i was thinking about y.cast)
