Don’t know if this is a controversial statement or not, but I’m just basing this off my own observations.
Why is it “not cool” to simp for Creepypasta characters, yet when any other horror fandom does it it’s fine? I don’t see anyone complaining when people simp for Jason, Micheal, hey, even fucking Freddy.
But if you simp for Jeff The Killer/Laughing Jack/EJ ect, you’re immediately uncool and weird.
I don’t know, maybe I’m stretching, but it feels hypocritical to me.

"Baby."
Sukuna knows you heard him. Still, you continued walking as if you didn't, going ahead of him about ten paces ahead, your posture and the overall attitude in your gait speaking volumes of your current mood. He easily kept up with you, placing an arm over your shoulder, but much to his surprise, you shrugged it off you and walked the remaining expanse of sidewalk towards your shared apartment. He just watched in annoyance as you walked into the lobby and got into the elevator before him.
"Trouble with your princess?" this nosy grandma, who lived at one of the units at the first floor, asked.
Sukuna just smiled awkwardly, bowing slightly as he passed her by on his way to the elevator. When he finally got into your unit, he found your coat lying on the hallway, picking it up only to see your jeans a few steps ahead then your shirt. He finally found you in the kitchen already wrapped in a robe which you didn't even bother tying up, agitatedly pouring yourself a glass of wine, the cerise liquid sloshing around the glass violently.
You were behaving rather out of character, making a mess out of your clothes when he knew just how much you hated it when he leaves his things scattered about. On top of that, you left the cutlery drawer open with the corkscrew you used on top of the counter, droplets of red wine littering the granite top. You just passed him by without saying anything, refusing to look at him on your way to your bedroom.
I see how it is, he thought, taking long strides to the direction you went. He eyed you sternly, having had enough of your attitude. "Y/N, what's going on?" he demanded.
You flinched visibly at the way he addressed you. He doesn't call you by your name unless he was dead serious about something. "It's nothing. Don't mind me."
"Woman, don't tell me it's nothing when –"
Before he could finish, you walked into the adjoining bathroom, turning on the tap to the tub to tune him out. You were evidently being passive-aggressive now, and he detested it when you did that.
"Just go back to your party. I'm sure everyone's wondering where you've gone," you told him, picking up your glass from the dresser top. "Especially Miss Hanako." You shot him a sardonic smile before taking a swig out of your wine, the way you said the woman’s name dripping with vitriol.
And then it hit him. You've been dishing out barb since you told him you wanted to leave the company party he was partly hosting for his department. You did so when the secretary to the president arrived and started chatting him up. He was now thinking your behavior thereafter had something to do with it. You were fine before that so it could only mean one thing.
He didn't know whether to laugh or what at the thought of it. When he decided to pursue you, he didn't have qualms about it even if you were a good six years younger than him. He knew how problematic it could get having an immature partner, but that's where you were different. You held yourself with such confidence, grace and equilibrium way beyond your age, you shared the same pragmatic mindset he had and you didn't seem to have a proclivity for drama like others your age. You hardly ever fought because of petty things and he loved that about you.
But then, you're still young and he didn't hold it against you that you're suddenly acting like a brat. If anything, he was happy about it because you were never ever jealous. It sometimes made him doubt how you felt about him when you yourself would be pointing at other chicks for him to look at while saying things like, "Baby, look at her ass. Damn, she's sexy." And now that the green-eyed monster is rearing its head to the surface, he couldn't say he didn't like it.
"What about her?" he asked cautiously, making you jump the hoops.
You sneered, the action very intimidating despite your angelic features. “Oh, I don’t know, Sukuna. You tell me. You seemed to be enjoying her company. Don’t stop at my expense.”
He leveled his expressions to you. “Well, she is something, isn’t she? Smart, too.”
“Yeah, you deserve each other,” you hissed, the anger flaring up in your eyes making him stir alive.
“But she’s married.”
“All the better!” Seeing through what he was doing, you turned towards the bathroom and slammed the door shut. He didn't hear you lock it so he followed suit.
"If you're jealous, just say so already!" he told you. He wanted to hear it out of your mouth.
"Why would I be jealous? She looks like a bad rip-off of 80s Brooke Shields!" you spat, confirming his thoughts. You climbed into the bathtub sulkily, eyes on the bubbly water.
Sukuna knew he shouldn't even be thrilled about the prospect of it. If you were jealous then that means you were kinda doubting him in terms of his loyalty to you, and he should not like that, but at the same time, you were also being possessive which you rarely do. He couldn't help it.
Loosening his tie, he began shedding his clothes off, stripping naked before you, revealing the tattooed expanse of his skin and his impressive musculature as he tossed one garment after the other.
"What are you doing?" you asked as he approached, the way you mumbled the words causing him to just sigh, feeing defeated at how endearing you looked hugging your knees to yourself. "I thought I told you to go back to your party."
He didn't say anything as he went into the tub, sitting opposite you, but it wasn't long before he was pulling you towards him, positioning you between his legs so your back was pressed against his hard chest. He then began planting hungry kisses on your neck, down to your shoulders, his large hands wandering all over your body, one already having found itself on your breasts while the other coaxed your head to turn towards him so he can kiss you, his movements urgent yet languid and gentle.
"I'm all yours," he breathed against your lips, grinning. "You know that, right?"
"I know." You shrugged, facing forward again. “I don’t like the way that witch was touching you though. And you were all smiles about it, too.” You smacked him on the thigh, eliciting that deep laughter you adored no matter how mad you were at him. “Don’t laugh! It’s not funny.”
“It kinda is.”
“If you even think for a second that anyone can have you, Ryomen Sukuna, you’re wrong.” You looked him in the eyes, your dark orbs boring into him while your hand touched the side of his face, your crimson-painted nails looking like claws against his cheek. “You’re mine.”
He wrapped his arm around you, kissing you on the temple before placing his chin on your shoulder. "Jealousy is ugly, baby," he whispered in your ear, "but I gotta say, you wear it so well."
-END-
Okay. Before I get another "untimely (and unsolicited, if I'm allowed to say) lecture" about the etymology of the word "Ryōmen (両面/りょう)" meaning "two-faced/two-sided" and not a surname or given name , let me say it now, I KNOW, but thanks anyway. Sukuna and I are neighbors, just 4 hours by train. Geez. However, I am using his whole name in literature form, so if I do switch it up and use it as a surname for him (cause heaven forbid, the Kamigami rain hell on me) it's all for fun and literary creativity. No need to get too pressed over it.
No more fighting on my comments to point this out @fushigummy @kenkinori XD
And I have nothing against the 1980s or Brooke Shields. *waves at her fans*
It's established. I love bathtub scenes although I detest the idea of stewing in my own filth. But yeah, look forward to more bathtub drabbles.
I say too many things. Bye.
Thank you so much for reading. Likes, comments and reblogs are deeply appreciated! Hope you enjoyed it.

BTS Reaction | Going Into Labour [Request]
[BTS X Fem!Reader]
Seokjin:
You threw your legs off the edge of the bed and groaned as you felt a pain rush through your lower back,
"Shit," You whispered trying not to wake up Jin as you got out of the bed. You'd been having Braxton hicks all weeks and they kept waking you up in the middle of the night, you didn't bother to wake Jin up like all of the other nights. It just made him panic before getting you to the hospital where you were told it was nothing to worry about just yet.
"You're going to have to come out sooner or later, you know that right?" You questioned as you sat down on the kitchen counter holding the cookie jar in your lap as you grabbed your favourite ones,
"You're already a drama king just like your dad." You'd taken to speaking to the baby a lot when Jin wasn't around, he'd sing to him as well which was soothing for both you and the baby.
"Ouch! Okay! I take it back, not a drama king." You cried out as you felt another pain rip through you only this time it was worse than the first one,
"Fuck!" You screamed out as another one hit you, the cookie jar slipped from your lap and smashed onto the floor below you, why did you have to get a ceramic cookie jar why couldn't it have just been a metal one.
"Jin!" You cried out wanting him to come downstairs but he could sleep through an Earth Quake, you slowly lowered yourself down from the kitchen side and waddled towards the staircase.
"KIM SEOKJIN!" You yelled out taking one of the shoes from the floor and banging it against the metal railing that led up the staircase, he came out of the room hair tossed to one side as he looked around for you.
"I'm in labour! The real thing! Move it." You began crying halfway through the sentence as yet another cramp ran through you, he watched as you sat down on the stairs trying to breathe through the pain you were having. You knew it was going to be bad but you hadn't expected anything like this,
"They said it was like period cramps! This isn't a period cramp." Your voice was shaky as Jin came down to your side and helped you stand up, he began walking you out of the front door. The hospital bag had been packed in the car for weeks and you were ready more than anything to get the baby out of you,
"FUCK! Get him out of me right now!" Your hand was gripping onto Jin so tightly he was sure you would break one of his fingers,
"I know it hurts right now baby but it's going to be okay, it'll be fine-" He could tell by the look on your face that you didn't want him to continue telling you it was going to be fine.
"Just drive me to the hospital and get it out of me." The baby felt like it was going to rip you in two as you felt yet another contraction rip through you, your legs were up on the backseat as you cried out through the contraction trying to breathe through it as best as you could trying to remember all of the tips that the birthing classes had given to you but nothing seemed to be working.
"Drive, please Jin just drive." You pleaded with him as he drove as fast as he could in the direction of the hospital, promising you that he was trying as best as he could.
(X)
"Everybody we'd like you to meet our baby boy," Jin said as he opened the door to your hospital room, you were sitting on the bed with your son laid in your arms sleeping as though he hadn't just taken almost six hours for you to give birth to him. All of the pain had melted away the moment he was handed to you though,
"Be quiet though, he only just got to sleep and I swear if one of you wakes him up I will not hesitate to jump out of this bed and rip your head off." You said it was a giant smile on your face which almost made it all the scarier for the boys.
"I bet it didn't even hurt that much-" Everyone's eyes were on Jungkook as the final words left his mouth,
"You try pushing something the size of a watermelon out of something the size of a lemon and see how you feel." You deadpanned staring him down as he shyly hid behind Yoongi who was trying to get out of the way of your gaze.
Yoongi:
Yoongi had been at the studio all day and you'd been there with him, he told you he didn't want you to be home alone when you were so close to your due date. He was planning on leaving work early that day until he found out that something was missing off of the tracks that Namjoon was going to be presenting soon so he was trying to get that done before you both went home.
"Finished for the day?" Namjoon asked as he watched you and Yoongi coming out of the genius lab,
"Yeah we have to, I'm in labour and he won't let me have the baby here." You were being way too calm about everything, you'd felt your waters break about ten minutes ago but hadn't told Yoongi because you knew you were leaving.
"Yeah, we gotta go because she's in labour- What!? You're in labour!?" Yoongi had started off calm until he realised what you had just casually dropped into the conversation like it was no big deal. That you weren't about to give birth to his son or daughter while you walked out of the Bighit building.
"You didn't tell him when your waters broke?" Namjoon laughed coming to your right side and helping Yoongi walk you towards the elevator,
"He was busy, I figured I'd tell him when we got to the car - ah Oh my god!" You began screaming as the first contraction shredded through your body.
"Keep breathing Y/n, come on." Yoongi panicked, you were in the back of the car with your legs on the backseat trying to breathe through everything while he tried to get through the lunchtime traffic you'd hit.
"We'll get to the hospital in about ten minutes okay, just keep breathing. Remember deep breaths!" He tried coaching you through everything as he drove but he caught a pavement and you screamed out as yet another contraction hit you, you already knew you were close to having to push.
"We won't make it to a hospital" You whimpered sweat running down your head as the heat in your body built up thanks to the pain.
"Pull over now!" You screamed at him, he glanced at you before pulling into the hard shoulder and skipping through all of the traffic until he hit the service station.
"YOONGI!" You squealed out gripping onto the leather seat as he finally pulled into a parking space and came to your side.
"Call an ambulance, t-they'll come and help." You whimpered as he opened the car door and called for an ambulance to come to the car.
"I-I have to push." You whispered as a contraction came through you - you'd seen enough birthing videos and been to enough classes to know that there was no waiting for an ambulance or paramedic to come and get you, he held onto your hand as he blocked anyone from seeing inside of the car.
"Then push, okay? I'm right here." He assured you holding onto your hand tightly as you nodded at him, holding eye contact as you tried to mentally prepare yourself for giving birth to a baby.
"We're having a baby," He chuckled at you and you whimpered throwing your head back against the seat as you began to push with every muscle in your body.
(X)
Namjoon was waiting anxiously inside of the waiting room with the rest of the boys, all of them had heard about you giving birth in the middle of a service station instead of a hospital.
"Guys, come and meet my daughter," Yoongi whispered bouncing around a small bundle of pink blankets for everyone to take a look at, you could see them all from the hospital bed you were laying in as they crowded her. Wanting to get a good look at the baby who already looked like a mini Yoongi, down to the dumpling cheeks she had.
"You did great." Namjoon chuckled coming into the room to see you smiling weakly at him, you were dosed up on painkillers and were ready to sleep for at least a month before you ever thought about having another baby again.
"He's a great dad already," You laughed softly watching as Yoongi protectively hovered over each of the boys who were now taking it in turns to hold your child.
Hoseok:
"Are you sure you should be here?" Jimin laughed as you practically waddled your way towards the dance studio to find your husband. He was supposed to have been home two hours ago to bring you something to eat from your favourite cake shop but never showed up.
"I'm fine Jimin-"
"Really? Cause you look like you're about to pop." Jimin laughed at his own joke but you ignored him as you walked into the studio to find Hoseok panting heavily.
"Baby! Shit, sorry! I just decided to do a little dance routine." You nodded, you understood how much he loved his job and it was no big deal. You'd been dying to get some fresh air, Hobi had you copped up in the house all day every day thinking it would be better for you to stay there since you were so close to your due date.
"It was nice, I went for a walk and saw some beautiful sights. It was fun." You told him as you leant against the pole that ran along the edge of all the mirrors in the room, you felt a pain run through you but you were pregnant. You'd had random pains since the moment you hit your 2nd trimester.
"I know but the doctor said you're supposed to...be...resting." Hoseok's voice trailed off as he watched your hand laying on your stomach, your breathing was starting to become heavier.
"You okay?" You nodded holding onto the bar tightly,
"Braxton hicks." You whispered closing your eyes tightly as another one tore you apart from the inside out.
"It's nothing, I'm fine." Just as you finished your sentence water hit the floor and you whimpered,
"Okay, maybe it's something." You squealed grabbing the attention of Jimin who began panicking more when he saw you,
"BABY! OKAY BABY ON THE WAY!" Hoseok screamed trying to run around and grab his things ready to rush you to the hospital,
"Car keys?!" He screamed out looking in his bag for his keys but they weren't in there, you sank down to the floor trying to breathe through the second lot of contractions that were hitting you.
"Hoseok!" You begged him to try and hurry up but he was screaming and panicking more than you were right now and you were the one that was about to push the baby out of you.
"I can't find the keys!" He yelled at Jimin who walked over to the desktop that was sitting int he room and picked them up.
"Hospital. Go. Now!" You didn't mean to yell but you were in pain and he seemed to be in a worse state than you were right now.
(X)
You got home from the hospital with your baby that night, you'd given birth to a perfectly healthy baby boy who was allowed to leave with you both right away.
"We're a family." You whispered bouncing him back and forth as you walked through the front door of your house. Hoseok dropped the hospital bag by the front door as he turned on the lights, there were balloons hung up everywhere as well as a banner with the words,
'New Jung Family Member' written across them. You smiled as you then saw the boys all coming out from hiding spots, being careful not to wake up your sleeping boy.
"He's so handsome," Jimin whispered taking him into his arms first,
"You sure he's not Jin-Hyungs?" Taehyung teased looking down at your son who started fidgeting in Jimin's hands, you smiled as tears raised up into your eyes. They were all going to be fantastic uncles and one day, fathers.
Namjoon:
Namjoon didn't like the fact that you'd continued going into work when you were pregnant and close to your due date.
"It gives me something to do, now will you leave me alone. I need to do Kai's makeup." You swatted Namjoon's hand away as it tried to rest on your stomach. He had done nothing but panic for the last week. Every small thing you did, every small noise you made he thought you were going into labour and began to panic hysterically. Freaking out to the point where you told him that if he wasn't calmer you weren't going to let him go into the delivery room with you.
"How long until you're due?" Kai asked looking in the mirror as you applied some blush to his cheeks,
"Another two weeks but Namjoon is convinced she's going to come early." You rolled your eyes letting out a small laugh but Namjoon didn't find any of it funny, you were insisting on coming to work when you didn't need to,
"He's just being protective." Kai tried to defend his Hyung but it wasn't going to work, you'd heard the same thing from all of the boys. That Namjoon was just doing what came naturally to him.
"I had a cookie the other day and I dropped it, Kai he insisted bending down for my in case I went into labour." You laughed a little too hard as it felt like you pulled something, the boys began laughing back and forth when another pain raced through your body.
"Oh god," You whispered putting down your brushes, the boys were too busy laughing together that they hadn't noticed the small puddle of water where you had been standing.
"Oh my god." You got louder as you ripped the apron off from your waist, clutching onto the table in front of you.
"What is it?" Namjoon questioned looking over at you to see your hand on your lower back as you tried to steady your breathing.
"You've been freaking out all week and then when I finally go into labour?! You just forget!?" This time you were the one that was panicking,
"Okay, it's going to be fine. I'll get the car, Kai you watch her." Namjoon was walking around slowly as you screamed out in pain,
"NAMJOON GET THE FUCKING CAR!" You yelled at him, he stumbled out of the room running down the hallways as Kai took your hand to slowly walk you out to go and meet him.
(X)
Two days later you were laying on the bed while your daughter slept in a small crib beside you, Namjoon was brushing the hair out of your face as you smiled sleepily at her. You were drenched in sweat but you didn't care, after two long days of contractions your daughter was finally with you in the world and you could feel like real parents. A real family.
"She's beautiful." You whispered to Namjoon as she moved her tiny arms up in her sleep,
"I want another one." You began crying and Namjoon's eyes widened as he realised you meant it,
"Not yet baby, maybe in a year." He chuckled trying not to make you cry even more than the hormones already were. You couldn't help it, you just missed the feeling of having a baby inside of you, growing all of her tiny little body parts and major organs,
"I love her so much." You whispered as tears rolled down your face, Namjoon wiped them away and smiled at you.
Jimin:
You weren't due for another three weeks so you had no idea why your water had just broke when you were standing on the middle of a tour bus doing 70 mph on a motorway.
"What do we do!?" Namjoon panicked as Jimin laid you down on one of the sofas of the tour bus, it was right in the back of the bus where everything was blacked out so no one could see inside.
"We need to get to a hospital, go and tell the driver." Jimin seemed to be the only one remaining calm while the rest of the boys all began freaking out about everything happening, Namjoon was breathing into a bag that Taehyung had gotten for you. Jin was planning to Hoseok about how he wasn't ready to deliver a baby and Yoongi was trying to tell the driver to get you to the nearest hospital.
"Jimin, I'm fine. Tell them to stop freaking -Oh my fucking god! Ahhh!" Your sentence was interrupted as a contraction hit you, it felt like you were slowly being opened from the inside and you were screaming as loud as you could - as if it was even going to help at all.
"I'm fine, see." You whispered as you calmed down from the contraction, you looked over to see Jin fanning Namjoon who looked like he was about ready to pass out,
"You guys are going to be the worst if you ever have a wife who gets pregna-ahhhhhhh!" You scream scared Yoongi and the driving causing the bus to shake a little but Jimin was right by your side holding your hand and helping you breathe.
"In through the nose and out of the mouth, okay?" You were doing your best to remain calm but now all of them were repeating what Jimin was saying, it was starting to get annoying.
"Get me to a hospital." You begged throwing your head down against the seat as the driver shouted he was miles away from the nearest one yet.
"Are you joking!? I am not having this baby on a tour bus!" You yelled at the driver turning to Jimin with eyes filled with tears, shaking your head as you repeated it over and over,
"I'm not going to have this baby on a tour bus Jimin, I swear to all things-"
"I know babe, but we don't have much of a choice right now, okay?" You shook your head at him begging him to make the driver to speed or something, anything to get you somewhere else where you could have the baby.
"JIMIN I AM NOT GIVING BIRTH ON A FUCKING BUS!"
(x)
"You did amazing," Jimin chuckled looking at you as you sleepily looked up at him bouncing around your twin girls in his arms.
"Told you I wasn't going to give birth on a tour bus." You laughed looking at him as he kissed both of the girls on the heads, you'd made it to the hospital just in time to be loaded onto a bed and told to start pushing as you were wheeled to a delivery room. It was a messy process but everything worked out in the end.
Taehyung:
"Y/n? You okay?" Jin asked as you calmly sat down on the dorm sofa trying breath through the contraction that was hitting you, you'd been having contractions since that morning but you were ignoring them. You were far too scared to have a baby right now and you weren't ready to deliver the baby yet,
"Fine, why?" He knew what you were doing, he'd been going to the birthing classes with you whenever Taehyung couldn't make it because he was at work while you weren't.
"Because your water broke this morning and you're just sitting there like it's not a big deal," You shrugged your shoulders biting into the sandwich that Taehyung had given you,
"It's not a big deal, I have plenty of time before I have to leave for the hospital." Taehyung nodded over at the door for Jin to the door of the dorms wanting to speak to him alone.
"There's no rush! I'm fine," You smiled at them but Jin was staring at you as a contraction ripped through you so hard that you couldn't talk through it which meant it was getting too close to the time you had to push.
"She's scared, I can't get her to go. We need to go though," You shook your head not wanting to talk to either of them about this right now.
"I'm not scared, it's just not time." You cried out throwing your head back against the sofa, even you couldn't deny the fact that the baby was coming.
(X)
"I can't do it," You whimpered as a nurse looked to see if you were close,
"Unfortunately baby you don't have a choice, it's go time." She said turning to look between you and Taehyung as you started shaking your head and telling them all that you couldn't do it, that you were too scared and you weren't ready.
"Come on, we're going to be fine. You've got me right here." He reassured you kissing your forehead as the nurse called in a midwife to help you give birth.
(X)
Three hours later you were sitting on the bed half asleep while Taehyung bounced around your son in his arms laughing as you smiled up at him.
"I told you that you could do it," He chuckled sitting on the edge of your bed so you could get a good look at the baby in his arms.
Jungkook:
Taehyung was standing by the hospital bed as a nurse checked how far along you were,
"You're almost ready to start pushing, is dad ready?" Her eyes were on Taehyung who was holding onto your hand as you tried to get through one of the splitting contractions that was tearing you apart as it went.
"Dad? Oh god, no." You laughed letting go of his hand as you realised what the nurse was hinting at,
"Jungkook is on the way, he's just a little late." You told her as you put your legs to lay flat against the bed, the nurse started laughing.
"Honey, you can't wait much longer if he's not here you're going to have to go with him even if you don't want to." Panic rushed through you, you looked at Taehyung who looked just as nervous as you did. If Jungkook wasn't going to be there he was supposed to be the on to go through with you but he didn't want to, he wanted to stay in the waiting room where it was safe and he didn't have to see anything.
"Get him here now." You begged Taehyung turning to look up at him as he nodded taking out his phone and calling your husband, he was stuck in traffic on the other side of town. He'd been trying to get to you all morning since the moment he'd gotten the call telling him you were in labour.
"Jungkook! If you don't get your ass here right now you're on the sofa!" You yelled as another contraction hit you knocking you back on the bed and making you scream out in pain.
(X)
"You have to start pushing." Your hand was wrapped tightly in Taehyung's shirt as you stared at him,
"Where is he?!" You cried out feeling the nurse getting ready. She placed your legs up on the bed and you whimpered crying harshly as Taehyung said he didn't know,
"No time to worry about that now mum, you're going to push in less than three seconds." Tears were streaming down your face as you realised you were about to give birth to your daughter without the most important man in the room with you.
"Taehyung, don't leave me please." You begged him and he nodded taking your hand in his and promising not to leave,
"Push, in 3...2...-" The door opened and Jungkook was standing there sweating and panting heavily,
"Oh thank god." Taehyung ran out of the room and Jungkook came over to you, promising you he would never be late again.
"Push!"
(X)
"Baby boy Jeon." You whispered rocking your son back and forth as Jungkook stood above you next to the bed, he smiled kissing your head as you bounced your sleeping son from side to side.
"I'm sorry I almost missed it," You shook your head, you understood why, he'd been so lost in traffic that he ran from 2 miles away just so he would make it there on time and you loved him all the more for it.
"You didn't, so it's okay." You whispered to him.

Mangekyo Mikoto
Okay, so, concept time:
Due to a coincidence of scheduling and also just Being Pushy About It, Mikoto ends up on Kushina's protection detail during the Kyuubi Attack
Is heavily injured but not fatally so (I'm thinking spinal damage?), and is unable to save Kushina, blames herself, develops Mangekyo as a result.
Due to her heavy injuries in defense of Kushina and Minato, and her development of Mangekyo in response to Kushina's death, people are a little hard-pressed to argue that she or the Uchiha as a clan were responsible for the attack. The Clan Head’s Wife (and I’m in camp ‘Fugaku married into the position, Mikoto was the actual heir and they passed over the role because Fugaku liked paperwork more) nearly died, okay, if an Uchiha was responsible, then it was a rogue.
Ergo: Mikoto gets custody of Naruto, as godmother who is not currently under suspicion of, you know, causing the whole bullshit in the first place.
Having Mangekyo also means she has some argument in place that if the Kyuubi does break free again, she now has the means to stop it from causing widespread damage. (This isn’t common knowledge, but she does leverage it against Hiruzen and the council.)
Mostly this spirals over into: 1. Mikoto has the most powerful eyes in the clan but is also no longer capable of going on missions due to a debilitating spinal injury that has her using a wheelchair most times. 2. Mikoto raising Naruto; Sasuke and Itachi both being VERY protective of their 'little brother' 3. Mikoto having flashbacks to that one 'pretty sure I'm bi, let's find out' affair she had with Kushina before Minato and Fugaku dug up the courage to ask their respective crushes out.
I'm wishy-washy on whether or not the jinchuuriki thing becomes common knowledge because I feel like Mikoto would hate the idea of that info leaking, but I also imagine that she'd be in the hospital for at least a week or two after the incident, and unable to stop whoever shared the info
Consider Itachi being hella protective of Baby Brothers and, also, the utter hellion that Naruto becomes whenever someone (Fugaku) makes the mistake of asking Shisui to watch the kids for an afternoon
"Why doesn't Naruto have our clan name?" "Because I was very close with his mother, and I want to honor her by letting Naruto keep the name of his family by blood. His mother can't be here to raise him, but he can at least have her name."
I have this really solid image in my head of Mikoto in her wheelchair, infant/toddler Naruto standing on her lap to play with her hair as she holds his arms so he doesn't fall, while slightly-bigger-toddler Sasuke is on the floor and clinging to the wheels to stay upright and trying to tap at Naruto's legs because He Wants To Play
Also: Mikoto inviting Kakashi over to see Naruto and whenever someone tries to throw a fit over The Eye Stealer coming by, she just does Pleasant Smile With Mangekyo and then Fugaku has to Freak Out Like Hell because My Darling, Stop Doing That, Your Eyes Are Bleeding And You Will Go Blind Because You Wanted Drama.
Fugaku is an "I cannot stop my wife but I will flutter about uselessly as she damages herself for an intimidation bonus" husband.
Itachi regularly panics because he's five years old and his hands aren't big enough for two infants. It's like the "drunk person presented with puppies" video, except Itachi isn't drunk, he's five and overwhelmed by Baby.
This, except Itachi's problem is that he's like. Three feet tall. - He has to draft Shisui to help. - And then Kakashi because ANBU Hound keeps stalking his house.
I can't decide if Kakashi is more "Oh, is this how people saw me when I was that age? No wonder they all thought I was creepy as hell." or "This is Normal™️." - Probably the latter, he’s like fifteen and traumatized as heck.
This last bit I’m a little unsure of adding so if anyone feels I’m jumping into a topic I’m not qualified to talk about, even with the disclaimers, please let me know and I’ll remove it.
On the topic of transracial* adoption: it’s something that I'd be wary of writing about in too much depth because it's not my lived experience, for all that I can guess at some parts of how it would apply, but for a bulletpoint concept, I feel okay with touching on it.
Naruto is raised by Uchiha, surrounded by Uchiha, culturally an Uchiha... except he will never have Sharingan, he can't really do Katon, he's a chakra powerhouse in a way that screams Uzumaki, and he is visibly not Uchiha. I feel like that's liable to cause some identity issues and imposter syndrome about being part of the family down the line in ways that, say, being adopted by Kakashi wouldn't.
He wouldn't experience the same "Otherness" that he did in canon, but he would experience some Othering. Even with a loving direct family of Scary Murderers who want to protect him, there's only so much they can do. Especially if he starts to feel like their protecting him is just another thing that makes him Other, especially if some of the more distantly related Uchiha Do Not Want Him There.
*To clarify, I’m talking about the original meaning of the term, which is the specific elements of racism and cultural disconnect experienced by adoptees in families of a race that differs from their own, most commonly children of color adopted by white families.
(I believe it’s the most similar term to what 'feeling othered, even unintentionally, by way of being phenotypically distinct from the family and community one has been adopted by' would be in this situation... especially since Kushina was an immigrant? IDK.)
(Obviously, there are a lot of reasons why I wouldn’t want to write about this in too much depth, because applying real-world racial dynamics and situations to a fantasy universe of Naruto’s type is questionable practice. However, this term is still the one that matches up most to what I’m thinking about, so I wanted to give a nod in that direction to address that there are similar experiences in the world that I can’t hope to directly understand.)

Valentine’s Day
context: Remus has been out since the beginning of the year, Sirius realized he likes Remus over winter break, it’s now valentine’s day
James knew it was silly to be upset that Lily had a date for Valentine’s day.
They weren’t dating - they were barely even friends. But watching Benjy Fenwick give Lily a box of pink chocolates during breakfast pulled at his heartstrings and he couldn’t help but sigh. Remus glanced at him before following his gaze towards Lily who was now laughing at something Benjy said.
“Lily didn’t say anything to me about liking Benjy, it might just be a date because it’s Valentine’s day,” Remus comforted, bumping his shoulder against James’. “I can ask her about it later?”
James smiled weakly, “It doesn’t matter, she wouldn’t like me either way.”
“She’s warming up to you!” Peter weighed in from across the table. “She’s your partner in Potions.”
“That was in the beginning of the year, not much has happened since.”
“Maybe next year, mate.” Sirius just shrugged, glancing back at Benjy once more. “I thought he way gay.”
“Sirius!” Remus hissed, glancing around to see if anyone heard. “You can’t just say that!”
Sirius turned to him with wide eyes, “But I thought he was! ‘S not a bad thing, I didn’t know he wasn’t.”
James snorted at their exchange, thankful for their antics as it improved his mood just a touch. Though he had been kidding around, Sirius caught James’ eye in a silent question and he offered him a smile in return.
And though he tried to convince himself he doesn’t really care that much, James couldn’t help but watch as Lily left the Great Hall, her long red hair swishing with every step she took. Benjy was still next to her, and they seemed to be in some sort of intense conversation, but James decided to ignore him, instead focusing on her bright smile. As long as she was happy.
Thankfully, Valentine’s day had fallen on a Saturday this year - so James could go to his dorm and not sulk instead of watching couples make out in every class. Deep down, he was glad none of his friends had dates, they could all be lonely together.
Even though Sirius and Remus had been hopelessly pining, he knew they wouldn’t resort to making out in the dorm, so he was safe. And Peter, he knew he could always count on Peter to be mindful about stuff like that, even if he had no one to kiss.
He had totally not been moping on his bed after dinner when Peter plopped down on the foot of his bed with a grin.
When Peter didn’t say anything he asked, “What’s up, Pete?”
“I know you’re sad, or not sad, or whatever. But that doesn’t mean we have to do nothing today! Remus had an idea, wanna hear it?” Peter asked hopefully, blue eyes twinkling.
James couldn’t say no to him. “What is it?”
“So you know that passageway that leads to Honeydukes? We were thinking of sneaking out and getting some fun stuff!” Peter waggled his eyebrows. “Like firewhiskey fun?”
James brightened at the idea, “I like the direction this is going in. We going now?”
Peter shrugged, “It only really takes two of us to make the trip. It’s easy for me to sneak in and get what we need, and someone to help carry it back. Remus volunteered.”
James narrowed his eyes at this, leaning back to rest on his palms. “Why are you even asking me, sounds like you’ve got it all figured out?”
“We knew you’d agree,” Peter assured, patting his shoulder and scrambling off the bed. “I think Sirius is heading back, we’ll be back soon!”
True to his word, as Peter left the dorm, Sirius slipped in. In his arms were various different snacks for the night, and James smiled at the sight of his favorites. He helped Sirius lay them out on the floor, almost like a little picnic, sorting them out by each item.
“Is this all because Lily has a date with someone else? I promise I’m not that hung up over it, we’re barely friends and it’s just a silly crush.”
Sirius just laughed, tossing his dark hair over his shoulder. “Nah, we wanted to have some fun. Who knows what we’ll be doing for Valentine’s day next year. We ought to spend it with each other while we still can.”
“And?”
“Okay, and you looked downright miserable. Merlin, you’re whipped for Lily,” Sirius caved in despite the smile playing at his lips. He went back to arranging the snacks, shaking the hair out of his eyes.
“Says you,” James prodded back at him. “Oh Moony, I love your vinyls, of course I’ll sing to you.”
Sirius cheeks burned red at his words, “I thought you were asleep, you wanker. He was sad and tired and in pain, I was being a good friend.”
“Right, because I sing to you in French when you’re sad?”
“Why are we talking about me, what happened to Lily? You never had a problem talking about her for hours and hours and hours before.”
“Exactly, we’ve heard enough about Lily. Anything new about Remus?” James propped up his face on his palm, watching Sirius.
“I dunno. He’s still gay, I think that’s good,” Sirius started, obviously uncomfortable with where the conversation was going. “He’s not hanging out with a guy for Valentine’s day.”
“You are so bad at this,” James groans at the lack of juicy information.
“I’m sorry I don’t want to talk to you about boys!” Sirius exclaims. “Can’t exactly tell you about his looks and stuff.”
“I have eyes. Remus is attractive,” James nods motivatingly. “C’mon, just tell me, I wanna know.”
“Fine.” Sirius pauses, collecting his thoughts before chewing on his lower lip. “This is weird, but he’s gotten a lot more attractive since I realized I liked him. Like, he’s always been hot, ugh it’s so weird to say that out loud, but I dunno it’s different now. Maybe he’s always been like this and I just didn’t think about it?”
“Mmhm.”
“I noticed he blushes a lot nowadays. I can’t tell if it’s because of me or if it’s just something he always used to do and I didn’t realize,” Sirius murmured before mirroring James and leaning his face against his palms. “It’s really cute though.”
“He doesn’t blush around me,” James smiled suggestively. “Maybe it’s something he only does around you.”
Sirius didn’t really know what to say to that and kind of just stared at him before shrugging. “Blushing doesn’t mean he likes me. I mean, in the end, he’s my best friend. Anything I look into could be normal. I mean, you and I sleep in the same bed a lot, so what’s different about Remus and I doing it.”
“I don’t sing to you in french, and he doesn’t read to me when I can’t sleep,” James reminds him with a pointed stare.
“Oh my god, back at it with the singing? He said he liked it and it was after the moon, it wasn’t like that.”
“You were in his bed with him and were singing to him.” James enunciates every word. “Are you blind?”
Sirius swiped at his glasses, effectively knocking them off his head. “Says you!”
Huffing, James grabs for his glasses and puts them back on, pushing back his dark hair. “Not fair. That was dirty.”
“Oh hush, you drama queen.” Sirius rolls his eyes but it’s all in good fun. “Okay, I talked about Remus, now you tell me whatever it is about Lily that’s bugging you.”
James finally gave in to his best friend. “Okay fine. I thought things were going okay, y’know? Like, she wanted to be my Potions partner at the beginning of the year. And I tried not to be overbearing or anything and I dunno, I thought we were kinda friends? And then she kind of just stopped?”
“Stopped?”
“Like, she doesn’t ignore me. But she doesn’t seem much interested anymore. In being friends, I gave up on the whole dating thing for now. And then Benjy just comes in and they hit it off like right away. Kind of hurt, I dunno.”
Sirius ponders what he said, nodding a bit. “I’m not sure, honestly, girls are kind of confusing. Moony’s really good with it, Peter too, his advice is the best. Maybe you can ask them when they’re back? There’s gotta be a reason, I don’t think she’d just shut you out for no reason.”
“I guess,” James agrees, but he doubts they can say anything to make this situation better. Either way she doesn’t want to be his friend.
Remus and Peter worked fast, because soon enough they were back with armfuls of drinks. Not all of them were alcohol, and James spotted a couple butterbeers in the mix. The weirdest though was this bright pink bottle Remus had tucked in the fold of his arm.
“Did you get a love potion?” Sirius questioned, jumping to his feet to inspect the bottle.
“No, it’s just a normal drink.”
“But it’s pink!” Peter chipped in, enthusiastically. “Isn’t the bottle cool?”
James smiled at his excitement, “Yeah, it’s cool, Pete.”
Soon enough they had all sorted out the drinks and food and were lounging about the floor. A game of truth or dare had started up only to be shot down because there wasn’t much the boys wanted to know about one another for the truths. This time, there was more than one bottle of firewhiskey so the boys each had one, and it was working wonders.
Peter had been telling some story when he ended up mentioning Lily, before turning to James with a sheepish smile, “Sorry, mate.”
“You guys are horrible,” James groaned. “Acting like we just got divorced or something. I’m fine!”
Remus shrugged, “It’s okay not to be fine. You’ve liked her forever, it hurts.”
James felt as if he wasn’t just talking about Lily but didn’t say much about it. Instead he spilled the thought that’s nagging at him for the past couple days.
“Do you think it’s because I’m-” James gestured to his face.
The boys exchanged looks, ones filled with clear confusion.
“You’re not ugly,” Peter finally spoke up, though his statement sounded more like a question.”
“No, I know I’m not ugly,” James blew a breath out, dropping his head back against the footboard of the bed he was leaning against. “I meant that I’m not white.”
A hush fell over the group at his words.
“I’m not saying she’s racist, or something,” James rushed to add in. “But I dunno, sometimes I think she’d give me a chance if I wasn’t brown.”
“I don’t think it’s your race, more you being a prat,” Remus assured him. “I don’t think Lily cares about that sort of stuff.”
James’ voice seemed small when he spoke, “Every guy she’s ever liked or been with was white. It doesn’t matter how attractive I am.”
Sirius had scooted over next to him and threw an arm over his shoulder, squeezing his arm. “I think you’re overthinking this a bit. I mean, Mary’s black and they’re friends!”
“Yeah, well she’s not going to date Mary, is she?” James shrugged off Sirius’ arm. “I’m not overthinking this. Tons of people don’t like people like me, it’s just a fact. I can’t ignore it.”
Peter who had been quiet this whole time finally spoke up. “If she doesn’t like you because of your skin color, then you’re not missing out. Lily’s awesome, but she doesn’t deserve you, if that’s why.”
“See! Peter always has good advice about stuff like this!” Sirius points out, bumping his shoulder against James’.
“I guess.” James just shrugged, eager to change the subject. “Anything new with you, Peter?”
He began another story about something he overheard some fourth years talking about, and while James tried his hardest to listen, the alcohol and time weren’t on his side. At first, he decided that lying down and listening to Peter might make it easier, but it did the opposite. WIthin minutes his eyes had slid shut, face nestled in the crook of his arm.
“Did he just fall asleep in the middle of my story?” Peter asked, thoroughly baffled. He leaned forward and was about to prod his forehead when Remus smacked his hand away.
“Let him be. He’s having his own problems, let him sleep.”
Peter agreed wordlessly, and Sirius scooted further away to not wake him up while talking.
“Remus, you got an eye on anyone?” Peter asked, turning his attention towards him. “I haven’t heard you mention anyone.”
Remus just shrugged wordlessly, and Sirius scanned his face for any signs of him lying.
“No one?” Sirius questioned, his eyes zeroing in on the way Remus was fidgeting with the edge of his sweater.
“Nah, no one. I promise,” Remus assured, raising his eyes to Sirius’. Sirius didn’t pull his away, silently challenging him. They stared for a solid thirty seconds before Remus broke it off, instead glancing at Peter.
“What about you Peter? How’s your love life going?”
Sirius tried his best to look at Peter but everytime he closed his eyes he could envision Remus’ warm eyes boring into his one, an eyebrow raised challengingly. Drunk Remus had a lot more confidence than sober Remus. As Peter began talking, Remus shimmied around before ending up lying on the floor with an arm behind his head, eyes trained on Peter.
“Sometimes, I think I’ll never get my first kiss,” Peter sighed, pursing his lips. “It’s already fifth year, and I’ve never kissed anyone. I feel like it’s even more embarrassing the longer I go without it.”
“James didn’t kiss anyone till Halloween,” Sirius supplied, trying to comfort him but it had no effect. “I don’t think it matters.”
“But he kissed someone! What if I never kiss anyone, ever?” Peter covered his face with his hands with a groan. “I’m going to be seventy and still waiting for my first kiss.”
“I’ll kiss you,” Remus offered nonchalantly, sitting up. “I’m good at kissing.”
Peter’s eyes widened and he shook his head furiously, “N-no. Gay people are cool and all, but I’m not gay. No offense.”
Remus snorted at the fact that he was apologizing for being straight. “Kissing a boy doesn’t make you gay. Think of it as practice so you don’t embarrass yourself when you kiss a girl you like.”
Sirius looked between the two of them incredulously, “Peter, you’re not actually considering this are you?”
Peter chewed on his bottom lip, contemplating it. “Er, I mean, it would be fast right? And no one would really know…”
“That’s the spirit!” Remus grinned, seeming way too happy to help. He sat up properly, shifting around to perch on his heels.
“No tongue, okay?” Peter looked awfully scared, but he crawled closer to Remus. “And do it really fast.”
“Quit acting like you’re getting a shot,” Remus rolled his eyes before leaning in to place his lips on Peter’s.
Remus didn’t touch Peter’s face or anything, but he did put a hand on his shoulder to keep him steady. He didn’t use tongue, but it definitely wasn’t a quick kiss. Sirius hated the way he couldn’t look away from the two of them, and honestly wasn’t quite sure what to feel - on one hand, it was the hottest thing he’s ever seen, on the other hand, he wished it was him who Remus was kissing.
When Remus pulled away, he was smirking, looking very proud of himself. Peter was bright red and he leaned back with wide eyes, before returning back to his spot on the floor. He rubbed his lips against each other before shooting Remus a scared look again.
“I think some of his gay rubbed off on me,” Peter whispered, a blush still painting his cheeks.
Even Sirius had to laugh at this.
“What, was it that good?” Remus quirked an eyebrow, and his whole composure about it was so attractive - the way he had been so confident about his skills and how he had taken charge and, Merlin, the way he smirked afterward. Sirius couldn’t pull his eyes away, and then Remus was turning to look at him, catching his gaze. “You want one too?”
Sirius immediately shook his head, cheeks heating up. “I’m good.”
“Suit yourself. See, Pete, am I not a good kisser?” Remus turned his attention back to Peter who wasn’t quite as red anymore.
“Well, I have nothing to compare it to,” Peter began but at Remus’ glare he shook his head, “Er, yeah. You are.”
Remus grinned triumphantly, lying down on his back again with his hands crossed behind his head. The position flexed his arms and Sirius was once again staring. He knew he was being painfully obvious, but he couldn’t find it in himself to care. Remus was so attractive he couldn’t breathe, he couldn’t think, he couldn’t do this.
Peter broke the silence, “I think I’m going to bed. Should we just leave James there?”
The three glanced at James who was sprawled on the floor snoring.
“Yeah, I don’t wanna carry him into his bed,” Sirius decided, leaning over to pluck James’ glasses off his face. He folded them up and set them on the nearest table.
“Cool, night guys,” Peter mumbled, stumbling over to his bed and shutting the curtains as the boys echoed him.
Remus made no move to get up so Sirius nudged his leg with his foot. When he didn’t reply, Sirius crawled over to his side, “Hellooo.”
This time Remus just hummed sleepily so Sirius layed down onto the floor next to him, stretching out to stretch a bit. The plush carpet of the floor welcomed Sirius and he let out a content sigh at how comfortable the position was, no wonder Remus didn’t want to get up. Barely a minute passed before he grew bored, and turned on his side to face Remus, propping up his head on his hand. His dark hair fell into his eyes and he wrinkled his nose at it, as if it would help.
“Stop staring at me,” Remus mumbled without opening an eye.
Sirius scowled at this. “You can’t even see me. How do you know if I’m staring or not?”
“Magic.”
“Oh, shove off,” Sirius groaned, smacking Remus’ shoulder causing him to laugh.
His laugh was soft as to not wake up the others, including James who was barely feet away from them, but was still joyful and it made Sirius smile. Remus’ face relaxed as he quieted down and he looked so utterly content that Sirius wished he could take a photo. It wasn’t often that he got to witness Remus so carefree and just simply existing, and Sirius reveled in it.
“You’re still staring,” Remus reminded, a cocky smile pulling at his lips that made Sirius’ stomach flip. “Something on my face?”
Sirius couldn’t be bothered to deny it, instead he brushed a finger against Remus’ cheekbone. “Freckles.”
Usually Remus’ freckles faded as the cold crept in and would’ve been long gone by a normal February. Yet somehow, they had reappeared, lighter than in summer but still present, dusting his cheeks and nose.
Remus hummed, “We took a trip to Spain over winter break and I found a spell to stop the fading.”
At his words Sirius realized that he hadn’t been this close to Remus since long before winter break and that it had taken him a month and half to notice. Despite the fact that it took him so long, he loved them. Remus’ freckles were one of his favorite features about him, and to have them all year long made his smile grow.
“They’re like constellations,” Sirius mused, letting his finger drift from Remus’ nose to his temple. Though the effects of the firewhiskey were fading, it still gave him a small confidence boost to even think of reaching out and touching Remus like that. He knew that Remus wouldn’t be so willing to be studied if it wasn’t for the alcohol.
“See yourself?” Remus still had his eyes shut and the dull lighting of the room cast shadows of his eyelashes onto his cheekbones.
Sirius squinted his eyes at the freckles, mentally going through every constellation he knew. He finally arrived at one and traced it out, “There’s Cepheus.”
Remus didn’t flinch back but his eyes fluttered open and he looked up at Sirius, pupils blown out to adjust to the lack of light. Sirius realized with a start that his finger was absentmindedly tracing Remus’ face still and retracted his hand sheepishly.
“Er, I should get to bed.” Sirius stood abruptly, turning towards his bed to avoid Remus’ eyes. “Night.”
He had just sat down onto his bed and was about to pull the curtains shut when Remus called out his name, having stood up from the floor and hovering near his own bed. But when Sirius turned his questioning stare towards Remus he just swallowed.
“Never mind. Goodnight.”
The exchange was weird and Sirius wanted to ask what he was going to say but decided against it. Something about Remus’ gaze was unnerving, he seemed almost scared?
What could Remus possibly be scared of?

Half of the things that regarding Tam in Kotlc frustrate me honestly. It feels like he’s pushed aside in the series so frequently, and I feel like this really peaked when he was in the Neverseen in Legacy. First off, it kinda rubbed me the wrong way the way that half of the characters were acting like Tam betrayed them? And maybe I just horribly misread the scene in which he was taken to the Neverseen, but I would not say that was a consensual decision, like at all. Gisela basically just said “Hey come with me or I’m making an entire species extinct and killing your sister.” like that’s manipulation that’s not what an honest decision looks like. I just felt so bad for him because he was borderline kidnapped by this awful group and it felt like no one was taking it seriously. Sophie reached out to him once on her own, and then once again when Linh pushes her to. That’s about all she did to try to help Tam for pretty much the entire book, unless I’m forgetting something. It just frustrates me, especially considering how much she did to try to figure out who her parents were during that book. This isn’t a thing against Sophie, it’s just that the things she did during that book kinda make it seem like Sophie being able to get a matchmakers list is more important than Tam being kidnapped. I don’t know, I just feel bad for Tam it always feels like he’s getting the short end of the stick when he seems like he’s one of the characters who would need support the most? I mean, he’s got so much to deal with and half of his scenes just feel like “here’s a scarring situation for you Tam! Now go back home to Linh or something.” Also, the way they described Tam being chained and mind-controlled actually made me sick that’s really horrific. (Also I don’t know where to put this, but characters keep acting like Tam’s super-ultra edgy and I don’t really see it? This is probably just me, but he’s always seemed more like a really stressed out person to me, not necessarily edgy. This might just be because he’s in a stressful situation in like 80% of the scenes he’s in.) I’ll be honest, Tam just kind of feels like a punching-bag character half the time.
tam is one of my favorite characters so i'm looking forward to this one, nonsie
I do feel that Tam's situation was treated very similarly to Keefe's, though there was actually a lot differentiating the two, which makes it feel weird. To summarize, Keefe ran away to the Neverseen, actively making that choice, and Sophie decided to trust him with that decision. She thought it was dumb and that they'd have to rescue him, but it had been his choice. And she coordinated with him, reaching out nightly to see what was going on and to get a sense of how he was doing. She was actively doing what she could to monitor him and balance her other responsibilities
some of this mindset carried over into Tam, while I think he should've been approached differently. because this wasn't his choice. it wasn't coordinated, and he didn't want to be there. he wanted out, and he wanted to be out safely. My mind is linking it to that one conversation with Sophie you mentioned, the one with Linh. Specifically because he told Sophie not to reach out to him, and said "I. LIKE. IT. HERE[...]I'M EVEN MAKING FRIENDS," (Legacy 407). I think this kinda led us to the "Tam wants to be there the way Keefe did" connection that really isn't accurate. he was threatened into joining, and nothing he says after the fact will erase that.
additionally, while Tam was with the Neverseen, Gethen was back and could search his mind, which was why Sophie didn't reach out to him more than twice. it was a risk that could put Tam in direct danger, and he wouldn't know when it was coming and couldn't agree to that risk. so if the two paths of action we're applying to Keefe and tam are to try and physically remove them from the situation or keep tabs on them, since contacting him is off the table, you'd think they'd focus more heavily on trying to get him back. but they...didn't.
I agree with your assessment of her priorities as well. i don't fault her for trying to figure out who her bio parents are or for wanting to explore matchmaking, i'm judging her for her timing. because she's consistently been very motivated by her friends and keeping them safe, it feels a little off that she prioritized matchmaking over Tam's physical safety. i know the love triangle and romantic drama has a lot of draw for some of the younger fandom base, but I feel as though it was prioritized too much and actually betrayed some of Sophie's key values for publicity.
and going back to the "he always draws the short end of the stick," thing, I think you're exactly right. i honestly can't think of any scenes off the top of my head with Tam where he's allowed to just be a teenager and take a break. There's always drama with him, which I think in part comes from the "sarcastic dark aesthetic friend" he's kinda gotten boxed into. he's there to be dry and pessimistic and further the conversation. note: he doesn't actually seem like a dry/dark outlook person as much as a lot of us (myself included sometimes) make him out to be. yes, he uses a lot of sarcasm, but that's not synonymous with dark and edgy.
to me he sounds like..,bitter? and resigned? and just generally annoyed to be there but doesn't want to show it. i don't think that makes sense so let me expand on it. he feels like when one friend of yours has invited you into a group of theirs friends (none of whom you know) and you're just kinda existing in the same space but are slightly uncomfortable and don't know what to do with yourself, but you don't want to let it show and risk offending anyone. you talk and fake your way through it but it feels off and you just don't like it and don't want to be uncomfortable anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually has a lot of anxiety that everyone around him just doesn't pick up on
his life changed drastically very quickly and he doesn't have a lot of friends. sure, there's the group, but they're not friends in that way. tell me, can you think of one person Tam would tell his worries or fears to? I can't. the most obvious might be linh, but I don't believe he'd tell her, because he'd want to protect her instead of burdening her with his worries. I think he's tied to her a lot and seen as a package deal in a lot of canon--and frequently in fanon--so it can be hard to separate them at times,
I might be jumping around a little, but back to the chains. those are incredibly fucked up, and I don't think they're given the appropriate emotional response they deserved. this is a teenager who has been physically chained for all hours of the day, for weeks. and he's just living with it, knowing he can't take them off. and when Sophie learns and tells Mr. Forkle, his response is that he's never heard of something like that before and would need to research it. Like?? excuse me?? one of the minors you let swear fealty to your organization is literally chained and you're 1. not trying to get him back 2. just saying you need to research it.
that's another thing! everything I remember (and I might be forgetting something) is the teenagers talking about Tam being missing and how they need a plan and want him back. But there are several adults in his life now who could step forward to take that responsibility. Tiergan. Mr. Forkle, Squall, the bodyguards, any dwarves working with the Black Swan, etc. You know, these adults with loads more resources and people at their disposal. they could do something, organize something, make an effort. A child was kidnapped and it feels like they went "wow that sucks. hope we get him back. anyways--" idk. that's just something that's bothered me.
he just keeps getting hurt again and again. it's like that's all we focus on with his character, him being sarcastic and dark in stressful situations and not him just existing. we see him fighting with his parents, fighting with the neverseen, being teased and singled out when he's around Keefe, like can he catch a break? can we just let him smile for once?
I, for one, think he deserves to be more than just a punching bag, nonsie
#if I am allowed to talk any longer than I will just keep going#I have so many feelings about tam#I love him so much#but i don't think I see enough of him#enough sides to him#we have protective brother#and grumpy pessimistic guy just hanging around#and that guy who got kidnapped#what are his hobbies? what does he like to do? what's his favorite food?#what does he want to do when the neverseen are gone?#just little things that give characters more depth#I want to know the details#which I'm sure surprises no one#kotlc#keeper of the lost cities#kotlc character analysis#tam song#long post#tw caps#quil's queries#nonsie

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Star Trek: Picard Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Agnes Jurati/Cristóbal Rios Characters: Agnes Jurati, Cristóbal Rios Additional Tags: Meta, Developing Relationship, my take on Agnes and Cris's relationship, and why i think it works, Minor Character Death (Mentioned), Psychological Trauma
Title Inspired by @regionalpancake‘s glorious Downtime Drabble “You’re Light On Me”
A while ago, a friend confessed to me that they didn’t really understand what Agnes Jurati and Cris Rios see in each other. They felt the relationship seemed unmotivated and forced, and they didn’t really see why other people thought it worked.
I’ve seen this sentiment a few times since the show came out, and I’m not here to tell anyone they have to agree with the show-writers’ choices or like a relationship if it doesn’t work for them. But I recently reread the little essay I sent that friend in reply (after making sure they’d want to read it ;9 ), and I really liked it, so I thought I’d share it here.
When people say that the kiss between Agnes Jurati and Cristobal Rios at the end of Star Trek: Picard season 1 blindsided them, I understand where they're coming from. I think the showrunners could have done more to make the developing relationship between these characters truly obvious, but for me, it didn't feel like the mutual attraction between Cris and Agnes came completely out of nowhere. Let me explain.
One of the big things about Rios’s character I find striking is that he wants to be stoic and cynical and misanthropic, but he just... can't do it. He tries! He's short, he hides behind his books, and he pretends he doesn't care about politeness. But the only people he ever swears at are Raffi, a very good friend, and the holos (which are a whole other matter, because there is all this self-loathing tied up in Cris's relationship with them). Over the course of season 1, it's pretty clear that Rios is rather good at reading people, and he wants to do right by them. He defers to Picard pretty much immediately and Soji looks at him pleadingly once and he decides to put his ship at risk for her.
Rios doesn't want to like people, he just can't help himself. He wants to be annoyed by Agnes interrupting his reading, but I think he finds her quirkiness disarming and charming. It's already visible in the way he looks at her on the bridge, when they talk about paper books. And then they go to the holodeck to discuss Picard's detour to Vashti. Since Agnes is the audience stand-in, she asks a bunch of questions, and instead of being annoyed or short, Cris patiently explains everything to her (after offering her a seat). Later, when Cris asks Agnes what she thinks about his outfit for the Stardust City caper and she says he's killing it, there's a beat there. He seems almost a little taken aback, either by her sincerity, or maybe by realizing he values her opinion. It's yet another thing they connect over it. (Also robot boxing. That scene is adorable)
With regards to Agnes… I think partially, she's leaning into her natural humour and quirkiness to appear non-threatening and not give herself away, but I also have another read on her behaviour. (This may partially be me projecting WAY TOO HARD, or, to put it more generously, applying some lived experience to what we see of Agnes's character, so your take on this might be very different. But this is what I see.)
When Agnes and Cris talk before they go off to have sex, Agnes is making jokes and smiling. To me, that doesn’t read as fake or a ploy to manipulate Rios, it seems real. And then when he asks, really asks, how she's feeling, suddenly there is this chasm of pain right under the surface. For me, the idea that Agnes has this intense psychological trauma and is dealing with it by finding joy in little things, like watering the plants, and reading papers, and flirting with the hot captain by completely wrong-footing him with a comment about her dad... it feels very authentic. And I can see how this guy, who pretends to be all uncaring and edgy but is actually a big softie not very far under the surface, and who smiles at her jokes and takes the time to explain stuff to her and listens to her babble, that's a nice distraction from the horrible things happening in her mind. Not in the sense that she's manipulatively using him, but in the sense that this kind of human connection gives her moments of light and gives her reasons to keep going, even through so much pain.
After Agnes kills Maddox, she is deeply, deeply conflicted over what she's done. To the point where when they’re leaving the Artefact, she basically says "I don't care if the world ends if I don't kill Soji. Let it all burn. I just can't do this anymore". And then here is this man, who's kind and caring and, yes, hot, and at first it's "I just want to feel something, anything, and he's here, he's half-naked, he's gorgeous". And Rios isn't necessarily opposed to a no-strings-attached fling. Because he keeps telling himself he doesn't get attached and he hates people and he's only ferrying them around because they're paying him. So it's a distraction with a woman who is quirky and witty and pretty, but it won't mean anything, and that's okay.
And then Agnes changes her mind, because she realizes having sex with Rios will make things more complicated. Or maybe because she thinks Rios deserves better. Or that she shouldn't have sex to distract herself from horrible emotional pain because that's kinda unhealthy.
So she pulls back.
And Rios, instead of being annoyed at missing out or feeling like she led him on, or any number of things, asks her how she's feeling. In a way that makes it clear (at least to me) that he really cares about the answer. And for a moment, Agnes lets him see the true darkness inside her. Because she can pretend it's about Maddox dying, she can pretend it's just about being a lonely nerd. She doesn't have to tell him how bad it really is, but she lets herself feel all of the bad emotions for just a moment.
And then she kisses him again, maybe to shut herself up or to distract herself, or because she needs the connection. And he doesn't have any illusion about what it is they're doing. He knows she's trying to feel better, he essentially tells her he knows it's a way for her to deal with her devastation, and he's okay with it. Maybe because he knows what it's like to feel hollow and terrified and need something, anything to cling to.
And at this point, I think they're both still telling themselves that they don't actually care about each other. Cris because he doesn't want to care about anyone ever again so he won't get hurt. (Which, again, he fails miserably at, but I think that's how he wants to see himself and why he treats his holos with so much disdain that Emil tells Picard "He doesn't get any nicer", even though we see Rios being kind to all the people on board.) And Agnes doesn't really have the brain space to allow herself to fall for anyone. She's just taking little moments of light and human connection where she can get them. And they both decide to have sex as a one-night-stand, just to make Agnes feel better for the night, just because they're both lonely and in pain. No deeper meaning behind it.
And then the whole tracker debacle happens. It takes three days to get to Nepenthe and by the time Agnes goes into a coma, they're still a couple days away at least. She doesn't wake up until Picard is back on board, which means she's out for a long time. Even though we don’t see much of the medical drama, we can assume she was very much at death's door. So, now Rios is faced with once again losing someone he feels somewhat responsible for. Someone he has actually gotten close to. And I think that moment and the fear it causes him might make him start to realize how much he actually cares about her.
And then when Picard and Soji are on board, they all sit down together and figure out the big mystery at the heart of season 1. And here is another thing Cris and Agnes find out they have in common: Both of their lives and minds got destroyed by Oh's machinations. Cris went against everything he believed in when he covered up what Vandermeer had done. He didn't actively kill anyone, but he feels like Vandermeer's death is his fault. His belief in the fundamental goodness of Starfleet was shattered when they threatened to blow up his ship. For Agnes, this kind of shattering of a truth she had clung to comes when she realizes she wasn't acting on the directive of the Head of Starfleet Security in a black-ops mission sanctioned by one of the most important institutions of the Federation. Instead, she was nothing but a pawn, used by Oh for nefarious purposes that had nothing to do with the greater good. The exact circumstances of their traumas are different, but they were both caught up in the same catastrophe and cover-up and it has marked them in similar ways.
I think this is one of the reasons Rios doesn't blame Agnes for killing Maddox. If anything, he gets more protective of her, e.g. by trying to stop Sutra from forcing another mind-meld on Agnes. You can see this in a more subtle scene, too: when Cris says goodbye to Agnes at Coppelius station, he reaches out to touch her face, but then he hesitates and proceeds with extreme gentleness and care. To me, that reads like someone very, very aware of the other person's trauma and possible triggers (forced mind-meld) and caring deeply about making sure she feels safe and has something good to counterbalance the horrible memories.
And finally, we clearly jump quite a bit in time at the very end of season 1. When our motley crew sets out from Coppelius, the Synth Ban has been lifted. Just imagine the bureaucracy that must have taken! That’s not something that can be overturned in a day. Also, Raffi and Seven have had time to connect, so I imagine in that time, Cris and Agnes, too, will have slowly figured out whether they're compatible and whether this relationship is something they might, very carefully and gently, endeavour together.
Because they have a compatible kind of humour, because they understand what it's like to feel deeply broken but to keep going regardless, because she's witty and quirky and he's caring and kind and they went through a very specific hell together, and they might be able to hold each other's hands as they slowly make their ways towards healing.
I’m going to do a metatextual thing here and quote an absolutely gorgeous drabble by @regionalpancake that, to me, encapsulates one very important aspect of the relationship between Cris and Agnes.
Your Light On Me
You’d forgotten just how it felt. To feel like you. A stranger, Last seen aboard the Ibn Majid. Proud, red trimmed shoulders, Bright pips, a polished combadge. You signed aboard, And found A different man signed off. You’re old enough to know, She cannot fix you. You wouldn’t want her to. That’s between Pops and you. That’s your work to do, Not hers. But Agnes? Preciosa. Something in her, Shines a light. Reminds you who you are. You have to find, Your own way home. But god, It’s nice, At last, To find, A gentle soul, To hold the lamp.
Chapter 74 of Downtime
That. Right there. A gentle soul to hold the lamp. I think for me, that's what the relationship between Cris and Agnes boils down to.
They are broken people in a broken world, but by the end of season 1, they have found that they can hold each other while they try to put themselves back together. And what starts out as a fun, distracting flirtation, then turns into "meaningless" sex to stop feeling lonely and sad, finally becomes the beginning of a relationship built on shared trauma, but more importantly on kindness and charm.
I have no idea whether these two can make it work long-term, but I am very much on board for what we've seen so far, and I hope this can help a bit in explaining why.
NB: After I finished writing this a few weeks back, I remembered that there was a fic that came to very similar conclusions. Upon reread, I realized it essentially hits the exact same points I do here and does so absolutely beautifully. So if you want a truly touching in-universe perspective on this relationship, go and read Love Comes Softly by Be_Right_Back (@smhalltheurlsaretaken, or listen to the Podfic recorded by Thimblerig. I cannot recommend this fic highly enough!

[TRANS-ARTICLE] 220708 ‘Big Mouth’ Lim YoonA, previews of a secret double life
Lim YoonA’s secret double life is about to begin.
In upcoming MBC’s new Fri-Sat drama ‘Big Mouth’ (creators Jang Young Chul, Jung Kyung Soon, script by Kim Haram, directed by Oh Chung Hwan, produced by A-Story, Studio Dragon and Aman Project), YoonA will play the role of Go Miho, who jumps into the fray to save her husband who has gotten himself in a trap, displaying a next-level girl crush image. But before the war begins, in order to be immersed in Go Miho (played by Lim YoonA)’s struggles, let’s take a look at her eventful life experiences.
STEP 1: “I will make my own man” Go Miho’s husband lawyer development project is a success!
Go Miho has been the ‘darling of all hearts’ due to her natural beauty and confident charms and has been courted by countless men since young. Go Miho believed that qualifications can be created, but personality can’t be changed, she turned down all the men who liked her during university days and chose Park Changho (played by Lee Jong Suk) purely because of his good heart. With the belief that ‘I will make my own man’, she quickly jump into the work society as a nurse as soon as she graduates, hoping to make her seemly insignificant husband into an honorable lawyer. Despite her tough hospital life and with her strong support, Park Changho finally graduated from law school and became an honorable lawyer. Go Miho who created this ‘husband’s success story’ strongly believed that she made the right choice.
STEP 2: From the ‘darling of all hearts’ to an ordinary nurse, the conflict between the newlyweds over the wall of reality
However, the reality of life did not go the way she imagined it to be. Contrary to her expectations of happy days after the marriage, her husband has lost consecutively in each lawsuit he took, resulting in him having only a 10% winning rate. The hardships of her life has reached the peak, Go Miho who was once the ‘darling of all hearts’ turns into a tough nurse with great vitality.
In the midst of this, her husband Park Changho received a request from a big shot. The highly excited husband shouted, ‘I will make you rich!’, Go Miho decided to trust her husband one more time. However, overshadowing her faith, the big shot requester puts an absurd false charge on her husband Park Changho, calling him the ‘Big Mouse’, who is known as the king of the underworld. Covered by layer by layer, what strikes Go Miho’s family is not windfall, but a thunderbolt.
STEP 3: Save the family who has been falsely accused! Go Miho, the busiest nurse in the world, her double life begins!
Until this day, even though the Park Changho that Go Miho knows isn’t exactly a righteous person, but he is also not someone who will con other people. Go Miho, who was confident that she knew Park Changho better than anyone else in the world, demonstrates the temperament of a risk taker in a bid to remove the absurd shackles that tie her husband up.
In the daytime, Go Miho who lives as a kind nurse that put the patients’ lives as top priority, at night, she jumps into the battlefield to find out who is the mastermind behind the false accusations against her husband. It is drawing curiosity if Go Miho who lives every day busier than anyone else, will be able to save her husband Park Changho safely.
At the same time, expectations are soaring for Lim YoonA, who will portray Go Miho’s desperate struggles. Through the released photos, Lim YoonA can be seen fully integrated with the character and we look forward to her acting that will captivate the viewers with her extraordinary force.
The production team of ‘Big Mouth said, “Go Miho is a strong character who makes her own path. We will prove in many ways that her decision to choose Park Changho was never wrong.” He continued, “Please look forward to the performance of actress Lim YoonA, who will show the charisma of the character Go Miho.”
Meanwhile, MBC’s new Fri-Sat drama ‘Big Mouth’ is a story about how a lawyer with 10% winning rate accidentally took over a murder case and became a rare genius con artist ‘Big Mouse’ overnight. Unexpected Part 4
Harry Potter Marauders Era Post-Hogwarts
Link to Part 3
Pairings: Regulus Black x Reader
Rating: M
____
The sound of someone knocking on the bedroom door roused from your deep sleep. You heard Regulus groan beside you as he lifted enough to look at the clock.
“The fuck?”
Regulus grumbled. Who the hell was waking him up at 7:30 am when Halley was sleeping?
“What?”
Regulus snapped. The door opened and James stepped in with his hand over his eyes.
“Do you two have clothes on?”
“No.”
Regulus replied, with a grin. The more that he could make James uncomfortable the happier Regulus would be. He wasn’t a fool. Regulus knew that James was still pissed over you running off and getting married. For the few days that the three of you had been staying with James and Lily, James had barely said 4 words to you and it was beginning to annoy Regulus. He made a mental note to talk to James later.
You, meanwhile, gave your husband a small displeased expression as James spoke again.
“That’s just great. I really don’t want to be in here but Reg, your mother is here and we don’t know what to do with her. She’s trying to tell Sirius that he’s doing everything wrong with Halley. They are about to fight. Not to sound concerned but I would pay to see it but I don’t want my kitchen destroyed either.
Regulus quickly got up in search of his abandoned pants. This was the last thing that he wanted to deal with. He needed some form of caffeine before dealing with Walburga or Sirius.
“Fuck shit crap...what the fuck is she doing here?”
James, who had turned around, shrugged.
“We wondered the same thing. It's kind of funny though. Halley is looking at your mother like she hasn’t seen anything like her before.”
Regulus sighed.
“Because she hasn’t. Y/n and I don’t act like raving lunatics around her. Whether you want to believe it or not, but we used to live a very drama-free life. I knew this would happen. We would tell her and she is just going to show up at random times. Who the hell comes visiting at 7:30?”
“You drama-free? Forgive me for not believing that. As far as your mother, she’s been here since 7.”
James clarified. For once, James had to agree with Regulus on something. When James opened his door that morning to see Walburga Black on the other side, he had to make sure that the world hadn’t ended. James was under the impression that Walburga never wanted to see him again. After all, the horrible woman screamed it at his face when Sirius ran away and James was not the least bit upset.
Regulus turned.
“7? Normal people are sleeping at 7...oh wait...this is my mother that we are talking about...carry on. You said that Sirius has Halley?”
James nodded.
“He’s protecting her like a little piece of gold. I think it's annoying your mother and that is what’s the best about it. She wanted to hold her and Sirius told her that his turn wasn’t over and she has to wait in line.”
You ran a hand through your hair trying not to sigh. This was going to a giant mess!
“I got this,Y/n.”
Regulus muttered as he pulled on a shirt and stormed downstairs. If his mother thought for one minute that she was going to sink her claws into his daughter, she had another thing coming! The last thing that Regulus was going to let happen was Halley have a horrible childhood like him. He would die before that happened.
It's a good thing that we willed Halley to Sirius. I could rest in peace knowing that she is safe with him. I will rest better knowing that James also doesn’t have her.
Regulus thought with a pleased smile. The two of you had sat down one night after Halley was born and decided “who do we really hate the most?” Regulus thought the whole thing was rather amusing until you made the comment,
“We need to decide who would be best to raise our child if something happens to us. Do you really find our child’s security a laughing matter?”
The two of you had come to an agreement that Halley would go to Sirius since James and Lily had Harry to worry about. Of course, James and Lily could be involved as they liked in their niece's life but Regulus was adamant that Halley went to Sirius and you agreed.
Walburga looked up when Regulus stormed into the room. She automatically frowned at her youngest son’s disheveled appearance. Regulus’ curly hair was a mess and his shirt was untucked. Walburga hadn’t seen her son look this bad in ages. If Walburga wasn’t hell-bent on holding her granddaughter she would make a comment about Regulus looking sloppy.
“Regulus, make your brother give me the baby.”
Regulus’ attention went to Sirius who sat at the table cuddling Halley. Without saying anything, Regulus eagerly took the cup of coffee that Lily was holding out to him. He didn’t turn to face his mother who looked like she was about to blow a fuse over being ignored. It vaguely reminded Regulus of Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. If she started screeching, “I will not be ignored” Regulus wouldn’t be able to fight the urge to laugh at her. What was she going to do, after all? Send him to his room?
“Regulus, you are ignoring me.”
Walburga snapped. Regulus shook his head and pointed to the cup of coffee in his hand.
“See, he has to have the motivation to deal with you too. He’s just too nice to say it.”
Sirius commented. Walburga huffed as she sat back down at the table. Her dark eyes were focused on her eldest son and granddaughter.
“You should have socks on the baby. She’s going to catch a cold.”
“It's warm in here.”
Sirius muttered.
“Sheesh mother, would you sit down and take a pill or something? It isn’t like we are going to let her crawl through a puddle of bleach or something. We aren’t heathens.”
Walburga rolled her eyes before standing up and turning back to her youngest son.
“We are having dinner with our whole family tonight. Bring your wife and the child...and for Merlin’s sake brush your hair. You look like your father did after Sirius was born...I swear a woman has a baby and the father goes to pieces.”
Regulus finally had enough coffee to be able to process his thoughts clearly.
“I haven’t gone to pieces, mum. I was asleep. It's barely 7:45...most people are sleeping.”
Walburga put on her sweater with a disapproving scowl that used to send Sirius and Regulus running. Her face reminded Regulus of the time that he had caught the living room drapes on fire.
“I’m sure your wife wasn’t sleeping. You should help her with the child.”
Regulus groaned.
“Mother, I swear to god...it is too early and I haven’t had enough…”
Sirius jumped up and tugged Regulus after him.
“Happy family time is over mother. They will show up to your cult dinner later. Try not to ruin him any more than you already have.”
“You’re not coming, are you?”
Walburga questioned. She didn’t want to deal with Sirius more than she had to. If she dealt with him too much then she could develop feelings for his sassy sarcastic self and she didn’t want anything to deal with that. She was catching enough feelings being around Regulus and Halley. Adding Sirius to the mix would be a disaster!
“Not in a million years.”
Sirius replied before leaving the room muttering to Halley about her family being crazy and to not listen to anything that anyone told her.
“I’ll tell you all about the cult when you get old enough to understand. Your crazy grandma is an alcoholic and needs her special cider to function.”
Regulus shook his head before turning back to his mother who looked ready to start yelling. The fact that Walburga Black wasn’t screaming spoke volumes about her actually want to be involved in Halley’s life.
“We’ll come, mother.”
That evening you stood beside Regulus as the two of you stared at the front door of 12 Grimmauld Place.
“Why are we doing this again?”
Regulus questioned. You sighed as he snuggled Halley closer to him.
“We are being good people and Halley deserves to know both sides of her family.”
Regulus didn’t make any facial expression before turning to you.
“We can just tell her that my family is a bunch of shady characters that she really doesn't need to know. Hell, Sirius can back us up on that one. Halley has your family and she has Sirius...that's enough from my family. She doesn’t need to grow up witnessing these psychos in action.”
Before you could respond the front door opened. Orion stood on the other and smiled seeing Halley in her father’s arms.
“There you two are. We were wondering what was taking so long. Now let me have her.”
You watched as Regulus made a pained expression the moment that his father snatched Halley from him. Orion spent the next few moments smiling down at her as Halley started tugging at the buttons of his vest. ‘
Regulus silently prayed that Halley would start pulling hair that night. That would be one hell of a way to make an introduction into the family...giving someone a new bald spot.
“Come on it. Everyone else is here.”
Regulus reached over and wrapped his hand around yours. You couldn’t help feeling sad when you noticed the dark expression on Regulus’ face. It was the same expression that he had the day before. You assumed that this would be a normal thing anytime that the two of you were in the Black family home.
Multiple sets of eyes rolled up when you stepped into the room with Regulus. You knew a few of the people already. Narcissa and Lucius were looking at the two of you with wide eyes while Bellatrix scowled in your direction. The horrible woman almost made a comment but was stopped the moment Narcissa elbowed her in the side.
Walburga smiled before turning to Druella.
“I assume that you haven’t been told but Regulus and Y/n married not long ago. This is their daughter Halley.”
Regulus hated the way that his aunt and cousins were looking around at each other as if saying,
How is he still here? How is Regulus still with us? What was Walburga thinking?
Walburga turned back to her youngest son with a pleased smile.
“Sit down.”
The next half an hour was the tensest of your life. While Walburga had been overly nice to you the day before, tonight she was in a constant conversation with her sister-in-law. Tonight, she was clearly showing the true colors that Regulus mentioned to you before.
So much for being hopeful….
You thought as Narcissa turned to you. She gave you a sweet smile.
“Halley is a darling little girl. How old is she?”
“Four months.”
Regulus replied. Narcissa again smiled ignoring her cousin’s careful gaze. Regulus wasn’t about to let his guard down. He didn’t care how sweet Narcissa pretended to be. Regulus wasn’t as concerned about Narcissa as he was Bellatrix. His older cousins’ cold gaze was locked on the two of you.
“She’s the same age as our Draco. How wonderful they are the same age! Did you have a hard time with the pregnancy?”
You shook your head before putting your drink down.
“Not at all. A little morning sickness but that was it. Her birth wasn’t bad either.”
Your eyes flickered over to Regulus who had a small smile on his face.
“I think we both did well.”
Narcissa’s mouth dropped.
“You mean, Regulus stayed in the room with you? He didn’t leave?”
You immediately realized just what Draco’s birth was probably like for Narcissa. She was probably in some cold sterile room all alone. “He was with me the whole time. He may have been a bit traumatized but he did just fine.”
Narcissa immediately glared at Lucius. The man was giving Regulus the biggest “fuck you” expression imaginable.
“I think that you and I will have a talk later.”
Both Lucius and Narcissa sat hissing at each other quietly for the next fifteen minutes. You leaned over to Regulus.
“I think I just caused a rift between them.”
Regulus smirked. He couldn’t give two shits as to what was pissing Narcissa and Lucius off. They could get hit by a bus for all Regulus cared.
Bellatrix, who had been listening quietly, the whole time was finally beginning to have enough. She wasn’t thrilled with the fact that Regulus brought you home. Since when was he allowed to go marry whomever he wished? Bella didn’t have that luxury nor did Narcissa or any other woman. Regulus probably got to do as he wished because he was a male.
Stupid double standard.
Bellatrix muttered before turning to Narcissa.
“Regulus was always the weak one. Now look he’s gone and knocked up a blood traitor.”
She said it loud enough for you to hear. You had to stop yourself from turning to hex the bitch. If you needed another reason to hate Bella. She had given you one. Clearly, she knew nothing about her cousin. Regulus was anything but weak.
“Reggie, can we go home now?”
You whispered in his direction. Regulus’ eyes turned in your direction. He had somehow started talking to his father.

Why Her? (Part 1)
Summary: This fic is based off a request from an anon after some speculations that have been made on my blog.
Brie enlists the help of the reader to get a date with a girl that reader knows from class, only for unexpected feelings to be caught. Drama/angst/fluff to come! Pairing: Brie x Reader A/N: Oops accidentally took another way too long break from posting. I was still writing during this time, trying to structure some kind of schedule, but every time I reread my writing I always end up wanting to rewrite most of what I have, which is exactly what happened with this one. This is part 1 of 4, more of an intro than anything. Part 2 coming very soon!
As always, feedback is always appreciated so please let me know what you think, or even any suggestions you have for future parts! It is all written but I’m open to making some adjustments if people have any good ideas to bring to the story!
Please do not repost my writing anywhere without my permission.
PART 2 | PART 3 | PART 4
You take another generous sip from the coffee cup in your hands, practically cradling it as if it’s your most prized possession. Although, that’s what you would be inclined to referred to it as in this moment. You relied on coffee during most of your days at the best of times, but even more so while you’re nursing a hangover like the one you currently have.
You groan quietly to yourself when you realise you’ve reached the last drop of your precious caffeinated drink, placing the cup on the table in front of you and dropping your head into your arms in probably the most dramatic fashion you can muster.
You vaguely acknowledge the sound of footsteps getting louder as they approach you but you quickly dismiss them as yet another student walking passed your table in the campus library and choose to ignore in favour continuing to feel sorry for yourself. You take note to never sit at one of the tables closest to the entrance again. Foot traffic has quickly become your least favourite thing.
It suddenly occurs to you that you can no longer hear the footsteps. How long had you been zoned out for? Surely whoever the footsteps belong to couldn’t have already passed you without any other sound.
“Hey Y/N, how’s it going?”
The voice beside you isn’t over the top loud or anything, but it still doesn’t stop you from jumping in your seat, your head springing up. You instantly wince, warily bringing your fingers to your temples in a useless attempt to ease your pounding headache.
The girl standing by your table, Sarah, scrunches her features in apology.
“Sorry,” she sheepishly apologises. “I did see you at the party last night. Didn’t think you were much of a drinker, though.”
“I’m usually not, especially when I have class the next morning,” you grumble. “Last night was a mistake that will never happen again.”
Sarah laughs quietly, clearly trying to be mindful of your current state. “I figured I’d find you here this morning. I just have one question about class and then I promise I’ll leave you in peace and quiet again.”
“Shoot,” you say in as pleasant a tone as you can manage, deciding to spare her from your complaints about how not at all quiet the library of all places has proven to be so far that morning.
Sarah smiles a grateful smile and sits opposite you before asking a question about some paper you had received in your shared class the previous day. You can barely comprehend what she’s asking you but you answer as best as you can, which seems to be enough because Sarah is again smiling brightly and standing from her seat.
“Thanks, Y/N. I owe you one.”
“How about telling me how the hell you avoid getting a hangover. I saw you last night too. I swear you drank more than everybody else combined.”
Sarah chuckles and turns to leave. “Call it talent,” she says, waving over her shoulder as she retreats.
You wave back and watch her leave.
You wouldn’t necessarily call the two of you “friends”, but you and Sarah share an English class together and you seem to find yourself at the same get togethers and parties frequently, and had always gotten along well enough. You were sure if you actually took the time to hang out together you would probably be easy friends.
You take a heavy breath and release it when you realise you’re alone again, and just barely start feeling sorry for yourself again before a figure is slumping into the chair next to you with absolutely no consideration to your clearly less than ideal state.
You jump even more than when Sarah had startled you and your hand flies to your heart.
“Oh my god!” you exclaim. Your body was so not prepared for these kinds of interactions today.
“Sorry,” the girl says, kindly enough but with much less sincerity than Sarah. You don’t recognise her and you look at her with wide eyes, trying to figure out who she is.
“Can I help you?”
“Yes, actually,” she says, apparently missing the bite in your tone, or just choosing to ignore it. “That girl you were just talking to. You’re friends with her, right?”
You instinctively look in the direction of the main entrance, where Sarah had disappeared through just moments go.
“Uh, kinda?” You reply, unsure. “I guess. I mean, we have a class together but-“ you interrupt yourself, remembering that you have no idea who this stranger is or what she wants. “I’m sorry, what exactly do you want from me?”
“I was wondering if you could help me get a date with her.” She says it so matter-of-factly that she doesn’t seem to recognise how entirely strange her words are. All you can do is blink at her in response.
“Excuse me?”
You have never actually considered that Sarah could be interested in women. Sure, she was an attractive girl and she was always nothing but friendly to you, but for whatever reason you just weren’t interested in her in that way. And now that you think about it, you’ve never actually seen her with anyone else, not even at any of the parties you’d attended.
The girl in front of you, however, obviously had considered it, and had somehow come to the conclusion that Sarah was interested in dating women.
“Do you even know her?” You ask.
“Not at all. Why do you think I’m asking for your help?”
“I don’t know, why don’t you tell me?” You have to admit that you’re still confused by her request. She seemed confident enough coming here to talk to you. So why would she need any help talking to Sarah?
“Oh, I’m like, notoriously bad at talking to women I’m interested in,” she easily explains. “I can’t flirt for the life of me and I’m way too awkward to try to convince a girl that she definitely wants to leave a party with me.”
You’re left without a response once more, blinking at the girl as she offers you a half smile and watches you. After a long moment, she seems to remember something, sitting up straighter to regard you again.
“Oh! I’m Brie by the way!” She holds out her hand towards you and you drop your eyes to stare at it for a moment, your hungover brain working at half speed before you realise she’s offering to shake your hand.
Your hand grips hers weakly and she shakes it with her own. Her handshake is firm yet gentle, though you don’t really know what to look for in a good handshake. Brie seems to hold back a laugh at the awkwardness of the situation.
“And you are…?” She regards you with a raised eyebrow.
“Oh! I’m Y/N.” You shake your head as if you were clearing the fog inside of it. “Sorry. It’s been a bit of a rough morning.” You force a chuckle. She squints her eyes at you for a moment before a look of recognition flashes across her face.
“Ah, I thought I recognised you. You were at that party last night, right?”
You look at her in surprise. Usually, no one ever seems to recognise or remember you from any of the parties you attend. You’d always been a loner to some level. Not totally socially inept but enough so that you generally flew under the radar quite easily.
You nod. “I’m sorry but I don’t remember seeing you there.”
“Yeah, by the time I showed up you seemed pretty plastered,” she chuckles and your cheeks immediately flush. You hadn’t meant to drink so much the previous night, but what started out as a couple of drinks had very quickly multiplied the more you had allowed yourself to wallow in your own self pity. You uncharacteristically had let the fact that you were at yet another party alone get to you.
Brie seems to notice your discomfort because she thankfully has the decency to move the conversation on fairly quickly.
“So, you think you can help me?”
You’d completely forgotten the reason why she had even started talking to you in the first place, but your brain eventually catches up and your eyebrows lift when you remember her request.
“Oh. Um…”
“Okay, listen,” Brie interrupts, watching you with amusement in her eyes. “I’ve gotta go. But if you decide you might want to help me, here’s my number.”
She grabs the notebook that you forgot you even had open in front of you and slides it across the table towards herself. She quickly scribbles her phone number in the corner of the open page and slides the notebook back towards you.
Brie stands up, considering you for a moment before she reaches into her bag that’s slung over her shoulder. You’re still several steps behind, looking down at the set of numbers she had written in your notebook, when she drops two aspirins in front of you. You startle, looking up at her and finding her smirking down at you.
“Take these, they’ll make you feel better. And maybe they'll convince you to help me, too,” she says, barely giving you a second to respond before she, too, is leaving you alone at the table.
You sit in stunned silence for a few moments until your eyes drift towards the large clock on the wall opposite you and you catch sight of the time. If you don’t leave now, you’ll definitely be late for your first class of the day. You half consider your options, wondering how much you’d really miss if you just skipped one class in favour of going back to your dorm to nap.
Eventually you let out a deep sigh and stand up, knowing you’ll just end up beating yourself up later if you let yourself miss a class because of your poor choices from the previous night. You quickly throw your belonging into your book bag, only pausing to look at the two aspirins Brie had left for you. You pick them up and quickly swallow them down with a gulp of water from your water bottle before you’re rushing out of the library doors and towards your class.

To Marry a Vigilante: Part 8
-----------
About that… It turned out he was very wrong.
It was already past eight when the couple was awoken by the sound of an army trumpet. Immediately, both of them jumped up and took a battle stance, only to see Tim rolling on the floor laughing. Behind him, Jason was snickering and Cass had a bright smile on her face. Damian grabbed the closest item, which happened to be Marinette’s pocket mirror and tossed it at the group.
Tim and Jason ducked and Cass simply grabbed the mirror from the air, smirked, and checked herself over to make sure her face was still flawless.
“Tt. Did anyone invite you to this room?”
“Technically, Demon Spawn, only the replacement is inside.” Red Hood sassed him.
“Where did Drake even get an army trumpet?” Marinette didn’t even realize that she was channeling Damian. His brothers did though and started laughing even harder.
“Internet,” Cass explained before covering her mouth to stifle a giggle.
“Tt. It’s good to see you enjoying yourself, but kindly get the hell away from here.” Damian scoffed.
“Suuureee. I’m not leaving you alone…” Jason was about to reach for his wallet when a small, sharp object flew right past his head. A Batarang embedded itself into the wall.
“I explained it to you in the past Todd. I will draw blood if I need to when it comes to defending my wife’s honor.”
“Calm down, Demon Spawn.” The older brother dismissed him, but his hand was no longer close to his wallet. “We came to spare you the embarrassment of being found like that by Mrs. Cheng.”
Until now, Marinette was too focused on the prank to realize what exactly happened and turned beet red. She meeped and jumped under the covers, red. Damian sent a glare at his brothers (and sister) and rushed at them with his fist. They all quickly scrambled and he closed the doors.
“Tt. Pests.” He scoffed and turned to his beloved, who peaked from under the covers.
“They will never let us live it down…” She complained.
“We can always drop them off on some empty island when they’re asleep,” he offered with a hopeful look.
“But… won’t they wake up too soon?”
“The knock-out gas has more than one use, Angel.” He grinned.
“So… you want to start a prank war?” She asked with a slight smirk, embarrassment forgotten.
“No. I want to leave them on some empty island.”
“Damian!”
“Tt. Fine. Prank War. But you’re no fun.”
Damian left to let Marinette get changed and put on some new clothes himself. They soon met near the stairs and went to dinner.
Since today both Tim and Jason decided to come by, it was louder. The young couple had to suffer enough teasing to last them a lifetime. Damian promised horrible vengeance to both his brothers.
“Can I have your katana? I mean now that you’re settling down you won’t need it, right? Maybe for cutting the vegetables. Will you be the househusband?” Jason was slowly approaching the peak of what Damian could take. Right now only the fact that Marinette was holding his hand under the table and that they weren’t saying anything inappropriate yet stopped him from drawing blood.
“Ehm.” Bruce tried to interrupt the discussion and touch the matter that was actually important.
“Oh! Oh! I want the grappling hook! Mine never works that well!”
“If I tie you up with it and hang you from Wayne Tower, will you shut up?” He grumbled.
“Now, what kind of example will that be for…” Jason started, but then his gaze met Sabine’s and he froze. Suddenly, Hell seemed like a nice place to take vacations.
“Tt. I dare you to finish, Todd.” Damian smirked, knowing full-well why his brother hesitated.
“Um… I think I choose to live a little longer.”
“Smart boy.” Sabine praised him with a bright smile.
“Ehm.” Bruce tried to get everyone’s attention for the second time. This time, everyone looked at him curiously.
“Tomorrow the class will be visiting Wayne Tower. I would ask all of you to be on your best behavior and either not reveal who you are or what your relation to Damian is.” He started.
“Did you finally disown him!?” Jason cheered.
“No. But if the french class learns that Damian is dating someone, the news will be all over the internet within five minutes and we won’t be able to stop it on time.”
“Stop them with legal means you mean?”
“I know what I said. The class is accompanied by an A.I. advanced enough to be vulnerable to possession that is normally reserved to humans. I don’t know what else they have in terms of technology”
“So we get to treat Damian and Nettie as strangers the whole day?”
“No. It would be best if you just avoided the class, but I know it’s too much to ask.”
“Oh! I don’t think it would actually be that hard.” Sabine smiled brightly at the two boys. “After all, they are good boys who don’t want to needlessly make my trip harder, right?” Even though she was smiling, there was this dangerous edge in her voice.
“Maman. Have you thought about taking tomorrow off? I know how hard dealing with the class is.” Her daughter asked worriedly. Sabine was acting angrier and angrier each time she saw them.
“I’m sorry sweetie. Dealing with that group is indeed tiring. And Caline is beyond useless.”
“It’s a wonder she is even a teacher,” Jason grumbled.
“She is a good teacher when it comes to her subject, but she just can’t deal with kids…” Marinette said before stopping herself.
“So she is an awful teacher.” Her father commented. “Teaching at school is more than just helping someone learn, Cupcake.”
“Listen. Tomorrow is the last day before the Gala on Friday. I really want us to have some control over how and what the press learns.”
“So… they don’t hear that Demon Spawn got hitched?”
“That stays strictly in the family. God knows it would make our life even more complicated if we had to somehow explain that mess. We’re almost done with the paperwork to make it binding.”
“I still think we could just ignore it.” Jason tried to push again. Back when Damian was in Paris, each of his attempts was rejected.
“Tt. While I do not need any formal documents, it will make sure that if needed the proper paperwork exists and there is no need to forge it.”
“It’s a pointless risk though. Personally, I don’t care for the tabloid dramas that much…”
“You caused a fair share of them,” Tim mumbled.
“...But I wouldn’t want them,” he nodded toward Tom and Sabine, “to suddenly find themselves swarmed with journalists.”
“Can’t they just wait two years?” The baker asked, scratching the back of his head.
“We don’t know how the League will act. We are married so I don’t see any reason not to just have it out of the way. Once we’re adults, we will simply make a public ceremony to give those vultures something to choke on.” Damian said in an emotionless voice. By now Marinette learned that the more he was feeling at the moment, the more passive he tried to appear.
“We can discuss this later on. For now, I want you two to promise that you won’t intentionally reveal Damian.”
“And employees?”
“They won’t be a problem. The ones we must interact with received their instructions already and others will simply avoid me as usual.”
“I’ll volunteer to serve as the guide and replacement as chaperone,” Jason said suddenly.
“That’s sweet of you, but I can do it. It’s only until Monday anyway. Then, the class will be Gotham Academy’s problem.” Sabine dismissed him.
“But you and her,” Selina pointed at Marinette, “are coming with me and Stephanie for a spa day. We must look the part at the Gala after all.”
“You won’t hear me protesting.” The tired woman nodded. Cass looked curious between the two of them but didn’t speak anything. It didn’t escape Sabine’s notice.
“Of course you can come too, Cassandra. That was never under question.”
“Thank you.” The girl nodded.
“And don’t forget me!” Chloé reminded everyone that she was still there, even though she opted to for once stay out of the discussion that was not about her. But just this once.
-------------
“Is it time?”
“Not yet.”
“But there are so many potential targets just waiting.”
“It’s just an illusion. You must wait until something stands out from the crowd.”
“But I want it now!”
“Don’t act like a spoiled brat. God knows I’ve seen my share of them to last me a lifetime.”
“Soon. Soon we will all get what we wanted.”
“Indeed.”
“Tomorrow?”
“Maybe, maybe not. If the plan is to succeed, we need to get their attention. Robin was not seen since Hawkmoth’s Fall.”
“It doesn’t matter. They will come. They’ll need to.”
“And if not? If the Justice League comes instead?”
“None of them can purify the Akuma. If they come… You know how Stoneheart ended.”
“Good.”
“So now we just wait.”
“It is boring.”
“We could always…”
“No. I prefer to be bored.”
-----------
When the class arrived at Wayne Enterprises, they were greeted by Jason dressed in a semi-formal suit. He looked somewhat professional. If he wasn’t carrying a large plushy centipede that is.
“Um… Are you supposed to be our guide?”
“Oh! No. Not possible. I was supposed to lead a group of six-years-old.” He smirked.
Damian scowled deeply. He didn’t like to be pranked like that. Then, he noted a Bluetooth headset in Jason’s left ear. Smirking, he pulled a small device from his inner pocket and directed it at him. Seeing Marinette’s questioning gaze, he smirked and activated the tool.
Jason was in the middle of arguing with Madame Bustier when he suddenly jumped and tossed the headset on the ground.
“Fuck!” He cursed loud enough to get the attention of other employees.
“Please refrain from using such language near kids!” Sabine chastised him. She took perhaps more pleasure in it than she should’ve.
“Ugh. Sorry. My headset short-circuited.”
“I see.” The older woman smirked. “And what about the class trip?”
“Right… Wait just a second.” He quickly ran to the nearby janitor’s closet and put away the centipede, instead coming back with a large bat plushy. “Okay. Listen up. You’re to follow the bat. Where the bat goes, you go. If the Bat isn’t there, you don’t go there. Simple enough?”
A chorus of “Yessir” gave him some hope. Sabine, Damian, and Marinette gave him a detailed overview of the class and exactly what he should expect. And he was not impressed. Teenagers were stupid, reckless, and malleable, but they had to be idiots.
Half-way across the trip his hope was dead and buried next to his fake body.
The Lila brat continued to make subtle suggestions that she knew it all and already received a similar trip. The fact she never said anything that could make her vulnerable to a lawsuit or even have her as the reason for being kicked was mildly impressive but highly annoying. She just made some suggestions that the class later overinterpreted.
Damian and Marinette stayed at the very end of the group. He gave her a ‘premium’ trip with much more juicy details than what Jason told. Chloé listened too, but she was more focused on texting with someone. The skater girl stayed close, but not too close. Looks like the best parting gift for the class would be a set of iron spines. They definitely need some.
Finally, they arrived near a conference room where they would eat lunch, not to disturb the employees at the cafeteria.
“Listen up. You’ll get the lunch brought in shortly. Remember what I said at the very beginning?”
“It rhymed with ‘duck’,” Damian smirked.
“Not that, brat. You should forget that one entirely.” He glared at his brother (not that anyone knew that).
“Tt. Shut up.”
“Damian! Don’t be rude to our guide.” Caline reacted.
“Yeah! Mr. Wayne was so nice to offer this trip to Lila and us.”
“Funny you need to put her sepa…” The angry boy started, but Marinette grabbed his hand and squeezed. Strong.
“Whatever. The Bat stays in this room. Just so you get it into your one collective brain cell, that means you don’t leave this room until I’m back. Touch the bat and it explodes.” He warned before putting it on the doorframe and leaving.
Damian and Marinette stayed in the back, talking in hushed voices about their plans for the Gala. To make sure nobody got the wind of it, they used Mandarin. Chloé listened too, but she was still on the phone.
“Come on! You must introduce me, Lila!” Alya pleaded with the girl.
“I want to. I really do. But Bruce Wayne is a busy man. Besides, we must stay with the bat.”
“That trashy toy? Why do you need to listen to him? He is just an employee.” Alya complained. To prove her point, she grabbed the bat from the top of the doorframe. There was a sudden screeching sound and she instinctively handed it to Lila who threw the plushy away… right at Damian and Marinette.
When it landed in front of the pair, their eyes widened.
An explosion of yellow and black paint engulfed them. Momentarily they were both covered head to toes in paint while standing in a large Batman symbol.
Everyone but Chloe (who was also partially caught in the explosion) and Sabine (who glared daggers at Alya) laughed. Caline tried to hold it together, but a small giggle escaped her.
It was three minutes later that Jason came in with two more guards. He took a look at the room and zeroed on the painted couple.
“I gave you brats a simple order. I even warned you that the bat can explode.”
“It was Marinette!” Several people immediately pointed at the girl.
“Marinette?” Jason chuckled. “Don’t make me laugh. It’s obvious someone threw the Bat at her.”
“And how do you know it?” Lila tried to argue.
“Simple. She wouldn’t be able to grab the bat and cover that distance with it to end up sitting on the chair while it was in front of her before it exploded. Shadows in paint tell me everything.” Jason explained. You don’t live with the world’s greatest detective without picking some skills.
“Now I’m sure we can just dismiss it as an accident and…”
“Sorry, missy, but I’m under strict orders from B, right now. The party responsible for that is to be removed from the premise.” He spoke strictly professional, but to Marinette and Damian, it was clear he was enjoying it too much.
“But… But…” Madame bustier tried still to say something, but nothing came to her mind that could solve this.
“If the guilty confesses, the rest can stay. But I can’t legally send away a minor without a guardian’s supervision.”
“Tt. Lila and Alya were the ones that messed up.” Damian had a vindictive smirk on his face.
“Liar!” The liar shouted.
“That can easily be checked. Show your hands.”
“What does it have to…” She started, but Jason simply shined a violet-light flashlight at them and revealed they had some invisible dust at them.
“Someone will have to go with them.” He looked at the two guardians on the trip.
“I’ll go. I think girls need a lecture on appropriate behavior.” Sabine’s grin was borderline feral.
“Sab… Madame Cheng. I think it would be best if you stay with the group while I talk with the pair.” Caline tried to defuse the situation.
“Nonsense. You should enjoy the trip. I’ll take care of them for the day.” Yup. Her grin was definitely feral. It was like a cat just got handed a crippled bird, but at the same time, it was friendly and inviting.
“But… I think you should stay with Marinette! For at least the last few days until the next part of the exchange starts.” It was clear that the teacher disagreed with the idea of Sabine going with the girls.
“Oh! Don’t worry. I’m not leaving Gotham any time soon. I want to get to know my niece better and Tom got a great business offer.”
“Indeed.” The teacher did her best to keep a smile on her face. “Still, I’ll go with the girls and you stay with the class.” She said, resigned and started leaving, completely ignoring the discussion they just had.
“Caline.” Sabine’s face turned emotionless. “Remember that you are supposed to be giving them a good example.”
She received no answer.
---------
Without the two main problems and the enabler, the rest of the trip passed mostly peacefully. Marinette enjoyed seeing the various departments, even though many of them seemed boring. During the remainder of the break, she and Damian changed into the spare clothes she had prepared. Tim brought them to work with him when he left earlier and had them waiting at the reception.
When they were done, Sabine escorted the class to the hotel before coming back to the manor. Marinette was already locked in her room, giving the designs a final touch. Exhausted, the woman fell asleep on the couch in the library, only to wake in Tom’s embrace. She really loved her husband and would never replace him for anything.
The spa day went well. Marinette, when separate from Damian and his brothers, found herself the sole receiver of all the good-natured teasing. It was the first time she really participated in something like that, but she liked it. Mostly because of the company, not because of activities, but it was still nice to for once let herself be pampered. Her usually dark-blue hair was now a brighter shade, making the blue actually visible. It wasn’t anything close to Luka, but the metallic highlight gave her a bit more forward look.
The Gala was closing in and it was high time to get ready to rock.

I just re-watched THAT scene and a thought hit me: Lan Wangji just stands there watching Wei Wuxian fall from the cliff... Why doesn't he jump onto his sword and swoops down to at least try to save him? Or is he all out of spiritual power? Or does it simply take to long to start and rev the sword? Not saying it's a plothole, I was just wondering...
I mean, I think this is a fair question and I know I’ve seen it discussed elsewhere. I just can’t seem to find the post or remember if any conclusions were reached, so I’m excited to dive into this. As always if anyone has insights or headcanons they want to add on to this, please do.
Because I like pictures, here’s ep 33 Lan Wangji holding his sword and staring in horror as Wei Wuxian falls (what is Jiang Cheng thinking? Who knows.)
Why isn’t Lan Wangji doing anything? He just stands there for long enough that Jiang Cheng backs away and leaves him on the outcropping, all alone.
Poor guy.
Okay, moving on. I think there are at least two ways to approach this, and one is from the production perspective (since this cliff encounter is a thing that only happens in the drama) and the other is from the in-universe perspective (aka, Doyalist vs Watsonian), so I’m going to look at both.
For the production pov, there’s really only one scene (I think) where we see anyone actually riding a sword in the drama, and it’s when they’re confronting the water demon/abyss in Caiyi (ep 5). At that point there’s no prep time, everyone just jumps up and then steps onto their swords (which is actually even more ridiculous to me than the image had already been in the novel because I thought they were at least riding on the scabbard but no! Riding the bare blade like a skateboard. I love it.)
How majestic.
Lan Xichen is the only graceful and cool person here. The only other sword-riding shot in this scene that shows more of a person’s body than their head and shoulders is when Lan Wangji drags three people into the air at once and we get a brief glimpse of Su She’s feet kicking wildly.
So, based on this scene’s execution and the general scarcity of other sword-flying scenes (even with the Nightless City confrontation, Lan Wangji just flies in with his quqin, no sword under his feet), my out-of-universe theory would be a combination of budget and aesthetic at play. If the production can get by on wire work with super extra long jumps that don’t seem to require actually riding the sword, they will. It’s logistically simpler, and it frankly looks better on screen. It’s also a staple of the entire film genre, whereas this sword thing is not, so the crew and effects people would have more experience with it as well. (In-universe I have a lot of questions about Wei Wuxian’s retained ability to do those jumps. Do they not use spiritual energy? Does he still have spiritual energy, just not a golden core? Is he using resentful energy instead? How does this work?)
From a more story-side view on the production, they’re working against the fact that they changed the plot to add Lan Wangji’s presence at Wei Wuxian’s death and they want to capitalize on that relationship, so having Wei Wuxian knock himself over the edge as he destroys the seal (or something where he steps back as Jiang Cheng rushes him or any other number of possibilities) no longer fits with the emotional beats they’re trying to hit. Also they really need Wei Wuxian to die here for the plot to function. Having Lan Wangji mount a sword and swoop down to try and save him again just adds extra complications and delays the desired outcome of WWX = dead and LWJ = distraught. In that sense, it really does start to look like a plot hole, because it feels like they’re ignoring the capabilities of a character in order to get the result they need. I do think they try to address this, but since multiple people have this question and I personally had to watch the scene more than once while actively thinking about it to notice all the relevant details… the efficacy of those efforts is maybe questionable. (Also like.. why does Jiang Cheng wait three days to go look for Wei Wuxian’s remains? Why is anyone waiting at all? Why is anyone surprised they can’t find a corpse when the visual we get implies Wei Wuxian is falling into lava? There are many, many questions that can be asked here and for a lot of them the out-of-universe answer is probably going to resemble “because the plot/original source material demands it” without much helpful in-universe support.)
In-universe (and probably more pertinent to your question), yeah, Lan Wangji could be low on spiritual power (and upon rewatch, I think he genuinely is). He could be physically exhausted as well as injured, too. For someone who carried three people in two hands 2-3 years ago and canonically has only gotten stronger since, he sure is having trouble pulling one person up over the side of a cliff. And that exhaustion really isn’t outside the realm of possibility, no matter how strong and powerful he is. He just traveled pretty far! If the theories that he found A-Yuan before coming to Nightless City are true (since he’s not injured in those flashbacks), he likely spent a ton of spiritual power even before getting into this battle where he first confronted Wei Wuxian and then started fighting pretty much everyone on the field by himself. Then, in a moment of fear-induced distraction, he gets injured! He’s actively bleeding! So yeah. He could definitely just be physically exhausted.
All that blood loss is not a good sign, and it actually speeds up (visually) as he expends this effort. We can see his arm trembling all throughout this scene, and then his grip slips (thus the face). Even after that he slips again, not losing his grip, but losing the strength to hold himself up at all. In the end he’s literally just lying on the rock depending on gravity to keep him in place and putting everything else he has into holding on to Wei Wuxian. He can’t do more than glare in Jiang Cheng’s general direction and tell him to stop.
Bichen is right there. If he had spiritual power left, I think he’d probably be sending his sword out to block Jiang Cheng’s angle of attack. That, or he needs two hands to accomplish such an action (It doesn’t require hand motions later/in the future, but maybe he develops that skill precisely because of these events). So yes. He’s physically exhausted. He’s spiritually exhausted. But I think there’s more going on here, too: He’s also at the end of his rope emotionally, and that’s how he ends up standing there, horrified and unmoving.
He’s had a rough time recently: Everyone hates his best and only friend/love of his life, and he has to listen to them call for his death/judgement at fancy dinner party meetings on and off for over a year. No one will listen to him when he tries to present a different view. Even his own brother is (not unreasonably) much more concerned about Lan Wangji’s personal safety than what his silence on this issue is costing him emotionally, and his uncle is distinctly unsupportive of the friendship from the beginning.
I think Lan Wangji spends a lot of time questioning his upbringing in those months (we see him actually verbally do so when he’s punished after Wei Wuxian’s death, but I think it starts well before that). What is right and wrong? Who decides it, and how? When does justice and holding people responsible for their actions turn over into unjust persecution? What is true, and what is a lie, and how much does that matter when weighed against social/political/spiritual harmony? These are concepts that are buried pretty deeply in the Lan Sect’s teachings but the world is twisting all of them before his eyes, and I have to think that takes a toll on him. Additionally, just as things start looking up (they let him write the letter to invite Wei Wuxian to Jin Ling’s celebration! They listen to him, other people support his idea!), he has to deal with the facts that:
1) His best friend who he’s in love with just killed a bunch of people, including Jin ZiXuan and some of Lan Wangji’s own Sect brothers.
2) Wei Wuxian is clearly losing control of his resentment-based cultivation path, and is thus personally in danger on a spiritual level, and
3) Everyone now wants to kill Wei Wuxian again, possibly even more than they did before, and anyone who supports Wei Wuxian is an enemy of the entire cultivation world.
Later in the series, Lan Wangji says he regrets that he wasn’t at Wei Wuxian’s side at Nightless City. That he didn’t support him, despite what we see of him trying to help Wei Wuxian find Jiang Yanli and then, after she dies, stop him from killing himself. To me, this could very easily imply that Lan Wangji is still trying to walk a tightrope in those scenes, or perhaps trying to be a bridge. He’s deliberately not choosing a distinct side, because he refuses to hate and reject Wei Wuxian, but he’s also refusing to declare open support. He’s acting entirely on his own, in a balancing act between friendship and love vs his family, his entire life’s teachings, and all of his society. Certainly I find that sort of situation exhausting, and I’ve never had to do it for something so high-stakes or large-scale.
Then there’s the actual cliff scene itself, where he’s visibly desperate. How intense does an emotion have to be for Lan Wangji to so clearly show it?
Wei Ying, he says, come back. He knows Wei Wuxian is breaking down. He at the very least guesses that he’s going to do something wild like step off that outcropping, which is why he follows him in the first place. But he has no idea what to do, so he tries the same thing he’s been trying for years: Come with me. Let me help you. This is a bridge, and he’s offering to help Wei Wuxian cross it. But just like every other time he’s tried it since the Sunshot Campaign ended, it doesn’t work.
Note that Lan Wangji actually is flying here, without the sword, so if he doesn’t have any spiritual power when Jiang Cheng shows up, this is probably a last, desperate burst to go with this last, desperate act.
I don’t think he really has a plan here. Not a new one, anyway. This is a still a plea of Let me help you. And, notably, Wei Wuxian doesn’t accept his help.
Not once during this whole scene does Wei Wuxian reach up with his free hand or try to help Lan Wangji help him in any way. He smiles, and he says: Lan Zhan, let me go. Because he doesn’t want a bridge. He doesn’t want to go back. Honestly it’s a pretty explicit and heartbreaking message: Lan Wangji’s offer of help is not enough to make Wei Wuxian want to stay alive. Not right now. He needs more than that. He’s lost too much to believe, right now, that anyone is going to choose him and his side, or that he’s worth that effort. And to be clear, Lan Wangji isn’t even offering that in this situation. Wei Wuxian is one slippery handgrip away from death, and Lan Wangji is still not saying “You, I choose you.” From anything Wei Wuxian can be expected to infer, his offer here is no different than it’s ever been: let me show you the way back to the right path. Let me help you fit back into the world the way you used to. And Wei Wuxian can’t do that; he has no golden core, it’s literally impossible even if the rest of the world would let him try. But at this point he doesn’t want to go back either. He doesn’t even want to try. That world hates him, and willfully misunderstands him, and has taken too many people from him now for it to be worth staying in. He wants to die.
And then Jiang Cheng arrives.
Wei Wuxian’s reaction to his brother’s presence is to smile, say his name, and just–accept his hatred. He closes his eyes and waits for the sword to fall even as Lan Wangji calls for Jiang Cheng to stop. The only time he shows distress between stepping back off the cliff and his actual death is when Jiang Cheng twists his sword and compromises the stability of the outcropping so that Lan Wangji is also in danger.
I think it’s possible that if Jiang Cheng had also reached for him and tried to pull him back up, things might have gone differently. Maybe that would have been enough to alter Wei Wuxian’s thinking. But as it is, when Wei Wuxian falls, he falls with his limbs relaxed and a smile on his face. There’s no flailing and screaming like when he was thrown into the Burial Mounds (in ep 33. There’s some arm-waving in ep 1). And I think that moment of him pushing Lan Wangji back and then letting go, more than anything, is what stops Lan Wangji in his tracks, because Wei Wuxian could have saved himself. He had strength and energy left. Enough to push Lan Wangji up and back and nearly to a standing position. He could have accepted Lan Wangji’s help, easily. But he didn’t, because he wanted to die, despite all the effort and inner turmoil Lan Wangji has gone through on his behalf (most of which Wei Wuxian doesn’t know about but, still).
That’s a pretty serious emotional kick in the head. Lan Wangji cannot ignore, at this point, that even if he did have any physical or spiritual energy left, Wei Wuxian doesn’t want to be saved. And that’s when we get this face (actually from ep 1):
He has nothing left. He has at this point spent over a year, maybe two, trying to save someone who, when it came down to the final moment, didn’t want to be saved. There’s nothing more he can do, in this state of exhaustion and despair, and it wouldn’t matter if he tried.
Personally, I think he looks like he’s about to be sick, and I don’t think it’s just the image of Wei Wuxian falling and dying that’s working on him here. It’s also the knowledge that he fucked up. He didn’t do enough, or more accurately, didn’t do the right things, in order to encourage Wei Wuxian to keep fighting for himself or anyone else (I’m not saying this is a healthy or reasonable thought, I just think it’s a thought he’s having). And I think this realization plays directly into how he treats Wei Wuxian when he comes back sixteen years later. He knows that questioning Wei Wuxian on his path of cultivation doesn’t go where he wants it to, so he doesn’t do it. This time is going to be different. He’ll break rules. He’ll drink alcohol. He doesn’t scold Wei Wuxian for making dumb, selfless decisions like transferring the curse mark from Jin Ling’s leg to his own, he just accepts it and expresses concern over Wei Wuxian’s well being. He stops asking if he can help and starts just doing it: Wei Wuxian can’t walk so he’ll carry him. Wei Wuxian needs someone to speak for him, so Lan Wangji will do that, with his brother and with the whole cultivation world. And then we come to this:
This is exactly the same move. Wei Wuxian will protect Lan Wangji, but not himself.
But.
Lan Wangji is no longer trying to be a bridge. He’s not going to hold out his hand for Wei Wuxian to accept or disregard. He’s crossed over to be on Wei Wuxian’s side. And that’s what makes the difference.

Title: Being So Normal Part: One Pairing: Black!Reader/Bucky Barnes Summary: Neither of them are very good at being normal. Good thing the spectrum of normalcy these days is anything but the definition of the word. In other words: two broken people mend together. Warnings: typical canon level violence, mentions of past abuse both physical and emotional, alcohol abuse and mentions of, drug abuse and mentions of.
Chapter Theme: Being So Normal, Peach Pit
Notes: Just a little self-indulgent series that's been sitting in the back of my brain that I have finally decided to work on after kinda scraping the previous one.
Sort of a Neighbors's AU mixed with a Coffee Shop Au. Lots of character introspection for the reader, and Bucky, and some fun and drama along the way. This will no doubt be a slow slow burn.
Hope yall enjoy and feel free to leave any comments or hit me with questions! Oh, mood board slapped together by me! Also, no Beta. Tbh I'm lazy and impatient so excuse any mistakes.
Saturday: 11:30pm
Sam was the one who convinced him to come---or maybe forced would be the better word. Life has been returning to somewhat normal for the two of them; Sam shouldering his mantle as Captain America, and James slowly easing into his role as Sergeant Barnes rather than The Winter Soldier. But, it’s not all easy, at least not for James. Normalcy is not his strong suit, not when the urgency of survival had been drilled into his skull for the past hundred years or so. Sure, he was comfortable, but not necessarily happy. James is lost, and no one can tell that more than Sam.
And that is how he’s found himself in this crowded club with flashing lights and a bass beat that he can feel in the pit of his stomach. It’s not that the environment is too much---it’s just that he feels so...odd out. After all, Jame’s idea of a night out used to be something more akin to a jazz bar and dancing. Not whatever gyrations and wiggling around the kids called dancing was these days.
God, he really is old.
“You gotta loosen up man, you’re killing my vibe.” Sam, as if on cue, shoulders into him. James scowls, making sure to keep a tight grip on his beer---if you could even call it that. The brewery it was from managed to pack so many damn spices and fruit in it that it tasted more like a cocktail than any beer he’s come to like.
“You’ve got a weird vibe then, Sam.” the other man laughs, elbows resting against the bar top behind them while he scopes out the scene. It’s a typical New York club; fashion being the forefront of it all, the entire reason anyone is out right now is to be seen and admired. Among other things.
“That cutie over there keeps tossing you looks, you should go say hi.” James follows Sam’s gaze across the bar. A gaggle of young women crowds around a booth, all of them eyeing them and whispering to one another. He rolls his eyes and takes a long swig of his beer.
“I think you mean they’re looking at you, Sam.” The super soldier turns back toward the bar to push his empty glass to the bartender who only nods his way and produces a refill without another word.
“Eyes up, Sergeant, they’re coming over.”
James doesn’t pay any mind to the coming onslaught; it’s always the same really. Sam is descended on by a group of gals excited to meet the new Captain America and even more enthralled when they realize he’s pretty damn charming. Not that he’s jealous in any way. Annoyed? Sure. See, he just isn’t one for new people---especially the kind that Sam tends to attract sometimes. The airheads, the young ones just waiting to hook up and never talk again. He just can’t vibe with it, can’t grasp it. Maybe he is too old for this modern age of love and romance.
James just turns his attention to the muted TV over the bar, his back facing the chatty group of women behind him while they flock to Sam like vultures starving for a meal. The news flashes between stories from all over; follow-ups on the last of the Flag Smashers, some weird disturbances in a tiny town somewhere far off, and a local story on a stray cat that is just “too cute to not have a home.” He snorts, lips smacking from the twang of his beer.
“Sorry about them.” The tiny voice from his left nearly makes him jump, and James can only blame the blaring music for his lack of attention.
“Huh?” He peers down to see an average height woman; with big brown eyes and skin a deep tan and sunkissed. By all accounts, she is stunning---and looks nearly as out of place in this massive club as he does.
“My friends---” her head jerks towards the group of women still fawning over Sam, who no doubt is loving all of the attention. “I tried to explain to them that you guys are just normal people too," she thinks they're normal? "but the alcohol made them all braver than they normally are.” The woman rolls her eyes but by the soft smile she wears he can tell she means no malice.
“And what about you?” James leans his full weight on the bar top now all the while inching closer to the woman. He can read the confusion on her face. “Are you feeling braver than normal?” she flushes at his clarification, and an easy shrug rolls from the shoulder.
“I’m just the mom friend trying to make sure my friends don’t end up dead, in jail, or worse.” James can’t help but laugh at that.
“A mom friend, huh?” gloved fingers pluck the pint glass from the bar and neither of them breaks eye contact while he swallows nearly half the glass.
“Yeah, kind of how I’ve always been; just an eighty-year-old woman at heart I guess.” James gives her a crooked grin: he could understand that.
“You’re too young to talk like that.” he elbows her gently, suddenly so comfortable with her presence that he can feel himself loosening up a bit.
“Then what’s your excuse?”
Brows cock high, that twisted little grin never once wavering from his face. He likes her---the idle and quiet wit, the way she matches his quips with equal stride.
“What’s your---” but before he can finish the group of girls are flagging her down, yanking her arm in one direction while they all gossip about how someone managed to snag Captain America’s number. James watches while she shoots him an apologetic smile while she is all but dragged back to their booth across the dance floor. Before he knows it, her face is lost in a sea of people.
“You would pick up the prettiest one.” Sam’s voice yanks James from his thoughts, and he looks up with narrowed eyes. “Don’t think I didn’t see that little flirt session. You get her number?”
“I’m going home.” James slaps a crisp bill on the bar top and Sam laughs, all loud and boisterous.
“You didn’t even get her name, did you, man?”
“Good night, Sam!” with hands shoved deep in his pockets, James turns heels and heads home.
Sunday: 8:am
The mornings were his favorite time to jog. Consider it a coping mechanism---not that he necessarily needed to go for mile-long runs or work out, what with the serum, but it was the only time his mind was truly quiet. So, James kept to a strict schedule of an hour or so run every morning followed up by a tall dark roast. Only today, he is late by nearly an hour to get to his usual coffee spot; which wouldn’t be terrible but James lives for routines. Without one, his entire day is skewed.
It’s eight in the morning when he strolls into the coffee shop, a tiny little place sat precariously on the corner of two streets only a couple blocks from his apartment. Clad in joggers and a simple black t-shirt, he strides up to the counter; eyes glued to the menu board for any new sweets that may catch his eye.
“Well hi again.” brows grow taught at their center---he knows that voice. James looks down to see the same woman from the night before. Black hair is piled high on her head and rather than the slim little dress from the night before she sports simple leggings and a graphic shirt of which the reference he is utterly lost on.
“Oh. Hi...uh....” blue eyes look for a name tag, and he finds none. Damn it.
“Y/N” she smiles wide at him, much like she had in the club only this time, with better lighting, he can make out the dimples that crease each of her cheeks.
“Y/N.” he repeats her name back slowly. “Uh, nice to meet you, or see you again. I guess.” he points to himself, “I’m Bucky.” said so lamely, so simply, he really can’t blame her for laughing at him.
“I know. What can I get for you, James?”
James.
That throws him; tosses him so off-kilter the man can hardly remember his order. Sure a couple people call him James, well really only his mother and his therapist when he’s in deep shit but…. To hear a name nearly forgotten to himself, and from her? Well, it turns his brain to static.
“Just a large black coffee and one of those brownies please.” She nods and starts to prep his order, all the while he stands there like an idiot with a ten-dollar bill in his hand and his heart in his throat. Finally, he finds a safe landing back on earth.
“How was the rest of your night with your friends?” Y/N groans while she pours him a fresh cup of coffee.
“Catty. I finally got the last one home around three in the morning. Got home just in time for a nap before I came in here.”
“That sounds---awful.” James trades her the coffee for the ten, and watches while she works the register.
“Wasn’t so bad. I don’t sleep much these days anyway.” Y/N offers the change back to James but only nods his head toward the tip jar.
“Sounds like you earned it. Did you just start working here?" he's never seen her working here before, and per his routine, James is here around this time at least five times a week.
"Covering for a friend, I usually work the closing shift if I'm not teaching." Teaching? James would assume she'd be on the younger side to teach.
"I'll have to come more often around that time then." he watches while round cheeks twitch, and flush.
“Deal. I’ll uh...see you around, James?”
“Y-yeah. See you around, Y/N”

my peace offering to you as a thank you (: low key based off of your submission which I’m still obsessed with! (This is not edited btw)
Blue ocean waves, clearer than she remembers, meets the shore over and over in a soothing rhythm. The smell of the sea salt in the air with the calming sound of the water brings a sense of peace for the brunette and her companion. She’s still unsure of what she should refer to him as, they’re tiptoeing the line between friends and something more; it’s driving her crazy but she also isn’t too keen on ruining their friendship. His voice brings her back down to the scene in front of them as he points out a dolphin jumping over in the distance. She smiles, letting her overrun thoughts wash away along with the waves, no sense in worrying when they were supposed to be healing their trauma together.
“This is nice, thanks for coming with me Court.”
His dazzling green eyes focus on her, with a smile so pure, she could die happy knowing it’s reserved just for her. She keeps her stare ahead so that she doesn’t do anything reckless by making a move, but he makes it hard to keep her distance when all she wants is to be closer. Her smile is genuine as she continues watching the ocean with a few seagulls basking in the sunlight right in their view.
“I wasn’t sure when you suggested it, but I’m glad I came too. This place is so different than I remember. I’m surprised this part of the island survived the explosion.”
“The best part came out unscathed, the scenery is nice and the wildlife is thriving naturally now that there isn’t a lunatic trying to run a reality show nearby.”
“Careful, you could summon him if you keep talking about him like that.”
“Nah, he’ll be behind bars for a long time. Thanks to a certain lawyer I know.”
He winks at her and she swoons, truthfully she wouldn’t have handled the case as well without his support. She had plenty of evidence as well as the other cast members involved, but Trent’s calming presence kept her settled while the trial was ongoing. She wonders how things would’ve turned out if they had been on the same team back in season one, maybe they wouldn’t have to deal with the heartache of being played on live T.V.
“I can hear you thinking from here, do you wanna talk about it?”
As usual, he knows exactly when something is bothering her. He may very well be the one person in this world who understands her more than Cate, a rare feat considering she doesn’t have the best track record at letting people in.
“It’s nothing really, I was just thinking about what would’ve happened had we been on the same team. Things might’ve turned out differently.”
“Maybe, but everything happens for a reason right? Maybe we wouldn’t have gotten as close if we started on the same team.”
“I don’t believe that for a second, we get along so well. We would’ve been inseparable. The only bad thing would’ve been betraying you to win the prize money in the end.”
“At least you think I could have made it to the final two.”
“Why wouldn’t you? The only reason why you got voted off was due to a misunderstanding and Heather’s a bitch. You and I both saw through her immediately, we wouldn’t have kept her on the team.”
“Fair point, but she’s not all that bad. We’re all friends now.”
“That’s true, you just have to knock down her walls and get to know her.”
“Remind you of anyone?”
“Shut up, Mr. Perfect Personality, some of us would rather be by ourselves than make a million friends.”
“Technically they’re fans, so they don’t count…”
At that she couldn’t help bursting out in laughter, trust him to pretend to be humble at a time like this. It’s true, since going solo, he’s gathered so many more fans than his Drama Brother days. She’s lucky he still makes time for her.
“Speaking off, don’t you have a tour to worry about? I’m surprised your manager let you take the weekend off.”
“She didn’t want me to, but I told her it was important.”
“We could’ve done this any time, it’s not that big of a deal.”
“Courtney, you’re a workaholic, if we didn’t do this during your vacation, then we would never visit this place.”
“We would have eventually...”
“I guess I’m getting impatient, I didn’t want to wait anymore.”
“Wait for what?”
“How do you feel right now? Being back here. Does it bring back bad memories?”
She ponders over his question, it’s a valid concern given how hurt she was over the entire ordeal. There’s been too many times where she didn’t think she could overcome the feeling of not being good enough for anything, no matter how successful her life is. Some days are better than others, the road to recovery isn’t easy, but she’s still here and that’s all that matters.
“Strangely, I think I’m okay. I honestly haven’t even thought too much about my history with this place.”
“Does that mean you’re over what happened?”
Her gaze is downcast as she gives a melancholy smile. Her experiences here are bittersweet, but she’s slowly getting over the lingering bitter aftertaste she couldn’t let go of before. Trent’s right, everything happens for a reason, maybe this was the universe’s way to bring them together.
“I used to ignore this question every time someone brought it up, but I can honestly say that I am over it now. I understand why you wanted to come back now. To get closure.”
“It’s the next best thing right? Besides actually talking to them.”
“I don’t have anything to say to either of them, it is what it is. I’m not mad anymore, but that doesn’t mean I wanna hang out with them and pretend we’re all friends.”
He reaches over to place his hand over hers, this isn’t the first time they’ve held hands, but somehow this felt different than the previous times. She meets his eyes as he tells her how proud he is of her, she has to blink back the tears forming in her eyes. Every time he praises her like this, she gets emotional, he’s the only person on this earth who’s ever openly admitted he’s proud of her. When she decided not to write an angry letter back to her ex, graduating top of her class and a semester early in law school, winning the trial against the disgraced Host after ten months of going back and forth to the courtroom, seeking therapy after struggling by herself for so long, and right now as she chooses to let go of the pain she kept buried in her heart all those years.
“I’m really happy for you Courtney. Let’s keep moving forward together.”
They’re not quite there yet, but this is definitely a step in the right direction. Getting rid of all the baggage from past relationships to sit next to each other at the very place where they first met. They both subconsciously scoot closer together without acknowledging it, sharing space is nothing new to them. She lays her head on his shoulder the same time he wraps an arm around her waist to keep her from slipping off the rock as a wave makes a particularly big splash.
“You okay there Court?”
“With you Trent, always.”
Thank you so much @marshunter06 !! My Trentey heart has just exploded lol 😆. This is so incredible 💕.

Heyo, fellow Inuyasha fans! Happy Friday! This particular blog will serve as a collection of random thoughts I’ve been mulling over lately. Hope you’ll consider giving it a read. By the way, it’ll specifically pertain to the Sessrin ship. If that’s not something that is of interest to you, then no need to read any further. Whatever happens, I wanted to get this out before the sequel. Alrighty, let’s go!
I’m not sure many of us realize just how much fiction sparks public dialogue and shapes culture. There have been countless studies and research done to prove it, therefore this really isn’t up for debate. What the real question here should be is have we taken the time to fully contemplate and assess just how much fictional experiences are able to change or influence our perspective on real, everyday life? The visual arts are just one of many evolutionary adaptations that serve to give us more insight into one another’s mind. If our outlook on fiction contrasts with said insight, then perhaps some re-evaluating is in order.
Powerful works of literature such as 1984 and the beloved Harry Potter series are just two examples. George Orwell’s book contributed strongly to how readers viewed government and politics during that time, and to this day it’s a book that resonates with many. As much as Harry Potter is cherished all across the world, there are religious and academic institutions that condemn it or have even gone so far as to ban it. I may not agree with the extreme measures taken, but it’s fascinating nonetheless to witness the extent to which fiction can move and mobilize people for a cause.
The takeaway is that indicating fiction doesn’t have the power to create change in our everyday lives is misleading to say the least. So how exactly then can fictional stories that are, after all, completely made up affect society in such profound ways? It all lies in the power of the psychology of fiction. According to cognitive psychologist and novelist, Keith Oatley, who’s been researching the psychological effects of fiction for over a decade, he states that engaging with stories about other people can improve empathy and theory of mind. When we identify with these characters’ struggles, we begin to share their frustration for societal problems that plague them. These types of stories tap into our emotions more so than- believe it or not- nonfiction, and thus their effects inspire us and even have the ability to alter our worldviews.
I’ll be returning to that specific topic a bit later, but moving on for now!
It’s safe to say that I speak on behalf of the majority of antis. That being said, I first want to add that we are aware that sessrin shippers claim to agree that there was nothing inherently romantic that took place between Rin and Sesshomaru during their travels together. The thing is we have trouble believing you guys when you time and time again provide contradictory statements to defend your stance.
Voicing things like, “all signs point to Rin” and “it’s been foreshadowed” sends the exact opposite message of what you supposedly stand for and, if anything, confirms that you’ve had romance on your mind long before it would’ve been acceptable to come out with openly. You can’t just go along with what we say when it’s convenient to your argument and then back it up later with “who else but Rin.” How can the relationship you’re imagining be so obvious if they didn’t hint at it for the whole duration of the original series like we agreed upon? Elaborate on how we could’ve possibly come to such wildly different conclusions when we started AND left off with the same views for and throughout the series.
On top of that, making the excuse that we don’t speak for adult!Rin and that she has the right to make her own decisions once she’s old enough is a weak defense. Firstly, because we haven’t even met her. Secondly, because it’s unfair of you to assert that you know what’s best for Rin and then say we’re not allowed to just because it doesn’t align with your beliefs. I get that you feel protective over her character, but do recall that this adult version of her none of us have actually met yet. We have no idea what kind of woman she’s become, what her dreams or aspirations may be, and whether she’s married or even wants to be. I’m not against the idea of her falling in love, I just don’t think it’ll be with Sesshomaru. I guess I’m also a fan of the idea of her following in Kaede’s footsteps, because if anyone can grow up to be an independent, trusted, and wise leader of the community like her it’s Rin.
To make matters worse, way too many of you continue to celebrate the drama cd and profess that it was sweet that Sesshomaru basically promised he’d wait for Rin all while somehow ignoring the glaring grooming implications. Why do you only see what you want to see and fail to acknowledge that actual child grooming scenarios do in fact play out like this in real life? A high percentage of people who have been victims of grooming can attest to this. If Sessrin does go canon, all the sequel succeeded in doing to avoid the direct correlation with grooming was skip over the more questionable and dodgy portions of it. Take out the time jump, however, and you no longer have a loophole to cover up the scary unmistakable truth, which is that Sessrin and grooming are essentially one in the same.
No one case is identical to another so please don’t come to me with your “but how is it grooming if Sesshomaru didn’t manipulate Rin” refutes. Nobody knows what the hell went on during those years between The Final Act and this upcoming sequel. Based on everything exhibited so far- that is if we decide to recognize the drama cd like so many of you choose to do- Sessrin’s dynamic is eerily reminiscent of real life child grooming. Why else do you think a lot of us fans have a huge problem with it? It’s triggering for a reason.
Let’s be honest, Sesshomaru’s supposed love confession could’ve just been the first of many gestures like it. Who really knows, right? According to you shippers, a major shift in their relationship took place sometime during this critical period none of us got to watch unfold. I’m sure you all have explored the various ways this would’ve gone down in fan fiction and through other creative means of expression. Not to spoil the fun, but all I can’t help but wonder about is just how many of those supposed “cute moments” would’ve been as creepy and cringey as that proposal. Hundreds of thousands (possibly millions?!) of fans would undoubtedly agree with me, too. It seems to me this ain’t due to a mere difference of opinion. Taste is one thing, ethics a whole other.
By the way, in case you didn’t know, groomers don’t necessarily need to plan out every single move in order for their behavior to constitute as grooming. What we should be paying attention to instead is the fact that Sesshomaru made a conscious decision to act on his own selfish desire for a young girl who couldn’t have possibly known in that moment the magnitude of what he was asking of her. Why is it that a vulnerable Rin is put in a position that forces her to be the one responsible for making such a big, life-changing decision for the both of them? Yes, Sesshomaru gave her the choice and, yes, she doesn’t have to make it till later, but why on Earth is he coming to her with this well before a child her age is ready and mature enough to handle it? Even if his intentions are good (broadly speaking of course), his what you shippers probably call “innocent acts” are incidentally coercing Rin into reciprocating his feelings. Whether he planned for that or not, he’s at fault. Period.
That’s one way the power imbalance works. A child wants nothing more than to please the adult they look up to and adore, because they’re impressionable like that. Maybe Rin processes this like she’ll want whatever he wants, so that’s what she trains herself to believe- either right then and there or over time. Plus, if you really think about it, why wouldn’t she trust him if in her eyes he’s been nothing but good to her and that’s all she’s ever really known? (Psst! Charm is integral to the manipulative nature of grooming so it’s deceiving AKA manipulation can come off as praise or flattery.) Bottom line is that Rin is too young to have to think about this kind of deep stuff at all, and Sesshomaru shouldn’t have taken advantage of the power he had/has over her to influence a decision she was by no means prepared to hear about much less decide on. Your headcanons seem to imply that she’ll eventually have to choose though, and Idk about you but I rather not push my own fantasy agenda onto a underage girl regardless of how much I want it. Idc if she’s fictional, it wouldn’t feel right so why would I want to see that? My principals couldn’t ever allow for it.
Even if it wasn’t an official proposal, per se, it’s still disturbing to me that so many of you find joy in the thought of a grown adult male essentially waiting for a young girl HE KNEW to become old enough before pursuing her. I know this drama cd ain’t technically canon, y'all, but since this is literally the only source we have that may foreshadow a potential Sessrin to come, and it’s referenced a lot, I figured it still should be called out for exactly what it is- Grooming: 101!!!!
Just as I demonstrated above, fiction has the ability to make even the most inappropriate and uncomfortable situations be viewed in a favorable light when you put the right spin on it. *cough* Lolicon culture, need I say more? *cough* Despite what you may believe, the strategies fiction utilizes to explain themes/concepts can genuinely lead to how we perceive them, and ultimately to how we come to make sense of a similar event presented to us in real life. Especially if we have no prior experience with any of it and have nothing to compare something to, these perceptions can be dangerous yet still persuasive to certain fans- young ones in particular. The more narrative consistency across stories and different mediums, the more likely they’ll influence social beliefs. Minors don’t possess the same capacity as adults to think critically about the content they consume, and if we aren’t more careful about what we put out there then all of us will continue to face serious repercussions.
This is precisely why it’s crucial we persist in our fight against the rabid phenomenon of glorifying young girls in every sexual context imaginable. Just look at what something as seemingly harmless as fiction has the power to do. The scope of fiction is broad and far-reaching, and it’s about time we stop denying that fact and actually do something about it if we have the means to.
The truth of the matter is that we’re in desperate need of proper education and training programs on this issue in our communities. Families need to ensure their children have access to the necessary resources, but it isn’t just on them. ALL of us gotta do our part and ALL of us should be up for the task. It takes a village, right? If we do not properly discuss and address child sexual abuse (CSA) with our children and in public forums, including the internet, then we’re ultimately accepting incidents of CSA should they arise. Consequently, that also translates to indirectly accepting that the predators among us stay untreated and/or unpunished. That’s how the generational and societal aspect of the abuse can continue, and we must do everything in our power to secure our children’s future. Yes, even when it comes to fiction.
If you still somehow don’t think the Sessrin pairing has anything to do with grooming, allow me to break this down for you one more time:
1. If some of your fellow sessrin shippers say that a relationship like this in real life is harmful, then that should be pretty telling in and of itself.
2. Piggybacking off #1: if your only defense to that is “well it’s just fiction,” then you should ask yourself why you can’t ever come up with better reasons. Same goes for history and culture, so please stop using those to justify this relationship. None of the above can or should be applied since it’s already been established that fiction pervades our lives and vice versa.
3. If fellow shippers who are victims of grooming say they are drawn to Sessrin because it allows them in a way to “take back control” from their abuser so that they can better cope with past traumas, then they’re inadvertently admitting that Sessrin does possess qualities associated with the past child sexual abuse they underwent. AKA Sessrin is relatable for its abusive dynamic.
I have to ask by the way, but why do you get so offended when we don’t support your ship anyway? Is it because we interpret it to be controversial and you don’t like your ship getting a bad rap? Is it because it would be insulting to admit that antis actually have a point in it being problematic and you rather double down instead? Or is it because you’re projecting yourself onto Rin and prefer to not go into detail about why that is? Maybe it’s too personal, or maybe it’s because deep down you’re ashamed. Of course that doesn’t mean you’re bad people, but suppressing these kind of negative emotions can’t be healthy for anyone. A little awareness and self-reflection on your part can benefit not just you but all of us in the long run. Cognitive dissonance can suck, but it’s also part of being human.
I recently came across a comment I’d like to share with you. Unfortunately, this is not the first time nor will it be the last I see the likes of it. Anyway, in it a fan stated how embarrassing it must be being an Anti in this fandom when an episode like “Forever with Lord Sesshomaru” exists. Guys, this shipper and all those who liked their post are showing their true colors. Perpetuating and/or anticipating these sexualized images of young girls is a grave issue in both our society and media alike. I think we can all agree on that, or at least I hope so. It’s remarks like these that prove we still got a long way to go in terms of progress, and if we ever hope to effectively reverse some of our backwards way of thinking. So serious question for ya in regard to this: Why is it too much to ask that grooming be portrayed for what it is? Grooming. To clarify, grooming is bad and needs to be painted in a bad light. It’s as simple as that. If only we could all acknowledge it for what it is, we wouldn’t be in this predicament.
Historical accuracy and cultural differences aside, it appears the crux of the matter between Sessrin shippers and Antis is our acceptance and/or denial of fiction’s influence on real life. If we can’t agree on this, then we’ll never agree on anything else. As mentioned earlier, there is more than enough evidence to support the idea that fiction impacts our lives in extraordinary ways. I, for one, believe in the transformative power of stories. I think they do more for us than many of us give them credit for and/or are inclined to admit.
This is partially why I believe that the majority of sessrin folk are missing the point most of the time. All they do is focus on insignificant and irrelevant information that accomplishes nothing but more gaslighting and strawmanning. Whether it be an intentional or unconscious decision, whatever we argue goes right over their head. All they do is throw around deflections and antagonizing remarks that serve no real purpose other than to make Antis out to be the unreasonable and irrational ones. Making connections between our own lives and our stories is a completely natural and normal occurrence. If those particular shippers insist on denying just how interconnected real life and fiction both are, what that tells me is they’re either out of touch with reality or deliberately choose to be.
Just to be clear, I am of the opinion that most if not all antis aren’t real life predators. If they say they aren’t, I honestly take their word for it. Speaking to Sessrin shipper directly: We know it’s not Sesshomaru you want to be but Rin. No, we’re not calling you pedophiles or groomers. None of us think you are using a fictional ship to attract underage fans to be the Rin in your life or anything of the sort. We are well aware that many of you are self-inserting yourself as Rin, so please don’t feel the need to tell us yourself because that would be stating the obvious.
I learned from a few of you since this sequel was announced that the Sessrin relationship isn’t just a ship but an opportunity for you to confront the person who used and abused you. So there’s two issues with this I’d like to raise. (Sorry if I’m repeating myself, but it’s urgent I stress this again!) This is what I have to say:
If fiction does not affect real life or have the ability to normalize anything as you claim to believe, then why does “fixing” what happened to you via your preferred choice of coping associated with these two characters in the first place? Why bring your past abuse into this at all if at the end of the day it’s “just fiction” and nothing more to you but a source of entertainment?
By confessing that you use Sessrin to cope with your past trauma, you therein reveal that Sessrin does in fact resemble an adult-child relationship with a grooming dynamic. So why then would you want other fans to be exposed to a pairing that brings to mind the very abuse you endured? We’re supposed to stop this toxic cycle- NOT find more ways to manifest and relive it, much less subject other fans to it.
You may think that Sessrin doesn’t fit the textbook definition of what child grooming is, but that’s not to say it doesn’t embody it or that it doesn’t at the very least have traces of it that stand out.
“Antis are miserable people who don’t know how to enjoy a good story. It’s just fiction, stop ruining it for other fans!”
Well, no, it’s not just fiction or just a story. Some of you evidently went and proved that yourself, and without my help, by revealing how you relate Sessrin to your own life and apply it to cope with past abuse. Past abuse or not, as far as I can tell we’re all equally invested in these characters. That speaks volumes and just goes to show that fiction touches our lives in long-lasting ways.
I have something I want to say concerning some of who believe that it’s inconsiderate of antis who have been victims of grooming or another form of child abuse to tell other victims who ship Sessrin how they should cope with their trauma. Now as much as I respect the various means victims discover to deal with their painful pasts, there’s always an appropriate time and a place for these things to occur. We must seek out better ways to safely cope with the abuse we lived through (if any) without running the risk of hurting and endangering others.
There are plenty of fans in other fandoms who don’t try to defend their ships going canon, because they’re able to recognize an unhealthy or toxic pairing when they see one and won’t try to justify it. A Sessrin romance simply does not belong on a show geared towards teens, and I really don’t need to go into detail about why we shouldn’t support it, at least canon-wise. Shipping Sessrin is your right, but if you don’t keep it to yourself and your corner of the fandom then you really shouldn’t be surprised by the opposition. All we ask is you respect that their specific dynamic falls under the category of child grooming (or very close) and should be treated as such in public. The world of fiction may be wider than the world we live in, but that doesn’t always mean “anything goes.” In the creative spaces our minds occupy we must still adhere to the same fundamental and moral guidelines we live by in life. There’s nothing wrong with exploring new terrains and experimenting with ideas, but we must also remember that our stories are all about communicating and connecting with people. So let’s please be more mindful of the sort of messages they’re sending.
Besides, this isn’t only about you and what makes you feel safe, it’s about all of us. I don’t know how much more I can stress that really. How can thoughts endanger our children, you ask? Well, it’s not like we’re suggesting that our thoughts can jump out of our tvs, materialize themselves, and place kids under mind control. The forces behind fiction are a lot more complex and nuanced than a “monkey see, monkey do” approach, so don’t waste any more time trying to describe that to us. You’re taking this argument in the wrong direction.
Take the “violent video games breed killers” theory. I’m afraid you’re misconstruing what we’re saying and then taking it quite too literally. Please stop twisting our words, because nobody on our side is saying that just because you play violent video games that you’ll become a violent person. The Sessrin equivalent of that would be if you ship them then you must be a pedophile or turning into one. *sigh* I know you guys are feeling attacked, but I’m afraid your defensive nature is keeping you from thinking straight. Clearly, there are always exceptions (I’d recommend reading up on the Slender Man case), but Antis aren’t saying you’re one of them.
You see, it’s not so much about the content as it is the notion of the content. Kids and teens who are playing these video games have been informed that killing is wrong, because they grew up learning that early on like the rest of us. No sane person would advocate for violence and nonsensical killing in real life. Since they fully understand the severity of the consequences of killing a person in real life, they are able make a clear distinction between the two. When it comes to killing there is hardly any ambiguity. Sadly, that is far from the truth when it comes to sexualizing girls. It should immediately be perceived as wrong leaving no room for interpretation, and yet here we are still putting up with these inaccurate and demeaning female representations.
Most children who have been groomed don’t realize it till years down the road. If they aren’t ever taught the telltale signs to properly labeling grooming situations, how do you expect them to make sense of and relate to a fictional version? Let’s think of about it from a child’s perspective. Yes, this includes teens who rely pretty heavily on adult guidance and the content we put out there for them. Put yourself in their shoes for a moment and picture that you’ve never had child grooming explained to you (because that’s just the reality for so many unfortunately). Wouldn’t you say it’s possible for them to deduce that what they see on their screens is how they come to discern something in real life, especially if they have little to no experience with it? Perceived realism is plausible, y'all.
What it comes down to in the end is that the ideas and emotions we cultivate behind these stories leave an impression on others. Impressions are capable of influencing the way we see the world, which in turn affects us and beyond just our imagination. The way I look at it, stories contribute to how and why we normalize certain beliefs and trends. If fiction reflects real life like most of us tend to agree, then wouldn’t you say Sessrin is a (in)direct result of this world’s tendency to place young girls in overly sexual or romantic environments? Where do you think fiction draws its inspiration from? Sure, some of it originates from our imagination, but most of what drives us to create these stories is the real world and the people who live in it.
Fiction is meant to mirror reality, but it’s ridiculous to suggest that it’s only a one-way street. That fiction in no way, shape, or form influences our reality? Or that it only works the other way around? With all due respect, that’s simply not true. No productive discourse can be had if we choose to ignore the truth and don’t come together (at least halfway) to tackle the real issues at hand.
Okay, I think I’ll leave it off there! Thanks so much for reading. I expect this to be my last blog on any topic regarding Inuyasha in the near future. As much as I’ve looked forward to answering all of your asks and writing all the blogs I have over these past almost 5 months, I think it’s best if I spend some time away for now. With the sequel fast approaching, I’m doing what I always do: hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. I’ve met some amazing people along the way, that’s for sure. And who knows, maybe you’ll see me active in the tags sooner than we think. Until then, it’s been an absolute pleasure! Enjoy the sequel, all of you. 💜

Disclaimer: This is my first ever Tumblr fanfic I have ever written. I got inspiration for this from a dream and I plan to take every dream I have and turn it into ff. Everything that happens in this story is not all from the dream, obviously I took the key points and added a lot of details. Also, like I said, this is made up from a dream so none of the characters have participated in any of these events (Just putting it out there). And only the female character’s along with Jonah is my own creation. I do not own BTS. Enjoy!
She smoothed out her dress before looking over at her best friend in the darkened vehicle. Her light baby blue dress made from silk traveling down to her ankles illuminated the darkness. Where Kat’s pitch black tight one only made it a little above the knees. The sleeves hugging her arms comfortably as they snaked down to her wrists. They both had quite revealing items suggesting both their chests were half on display, but they both knew that it was meant for only one person. Well, a different person for each.
The limo they rented came to a halt just outside the entrance, where it revealed a beautiful velvet red carpet scrolled out on the floor leading towards a beautifully decorated archway.
Kat smiled, already picturing what tonight would have in store for them. “We’re a bit early.” Tyler said beside her. “That’s alright, gives us more time to spend with everyone.” Kat smirked over her shoulder at her best friend.
They got out the vehicle and stood side by side, Tyler’s hair was braided back in a stunning French plait. Whilst Kat’s hair was loose, draping over her shoulders with its recently dyed color.
People who were waiting outside began to gape at the two girls. One blonde, one brunette. No one would think otherwise as they were the duo since kindergarten.
Linking arms with smiles plastered on both their faces, they strid towards the entrance. Pretty white flowers caressed an archway along with vines snaking up the sides.
The bouncer smiled at them both. “Evening ladies. Names?” He held up a clipboard.
“Kat Raymond and Tyler Rhooney.” Kat said.
“Alright, and who are your dates tonight, ladies?” He smirked this time.
Tyler rolled her eyes. “Jeon Jungkook and Kim Taehyung.”
The bouncer’s smirk faltered a little as he ticked off both their names. “Ah, they are already inside, go on ahead.” He gestured.
They both stepped through the archway, Tyler being attacked by a rogue vine in the process before gaping at the interior.
It was huge. Of course, their school had to be over dramatic with renting an entire stadium because the school’s gym was too basic.
They both started walking, taking in every detail. From the various tents scattered around the field to the dance floor set up in the middle of it. To the huge disco lights surrounding the entire place.
Tyler glanced up at the open sky. “God, lets pray it doesn’t rain.”
Kat nudged her as if to say, “don’t jinx it”.
Just as they were about to go off to find anyone they knew, someone was jogging up to them looking heavily out of breath.
“Is that Tae?”
“I think that’s Tae.”
“Is he wearing a bandana?”
“Oh God.”
He halted in front of them, bending over trying to catch his breath. “Hey guys.”
“Hey, babe.” Tyler put a hand on his arm. “Is everything okay?”
“Where’s Jay?” Kat asked, looking around.
“That’s the question, isn’t it?” Tae gasped.
“Huh?” Tyler patted him on the back.
“I can’t find him.” He coughed.
“What? But didn’t you guys arrive together?” Kat asked.
“Actually no. He left early because someone called him to come help with the lights.” He was still wheezing.
“And what’s that?” Kat pointed at the hanger holding up some black fabric.
“His tux.”
Tyler snorted. Kat gaped. “He didn’t…”
“He did. Left without changing. So, me being the good friend that I am, brought it for him to change, but now I can’t find the dumbass.”
Kat placed her hand upon her temple. “Of course he forgot. Okay, Tae, we will help you look for him.”
“Thanks. But can you find him quick? These pants are starting to chafe.” He said, doing semi lunges where he stood, showing true discomfort upon his face.
Tyler bit her lip, trying not to laugh.
“We’ll try.” Kat said, trying not to look over the man’s area.
“Okay, I’m gonna’ check the food court again.” And then he was off, running in such a way that suggested what was going on down under.
They both looked at each other, a small bit of pity in their eyes.
“Okay, I think we should split up. You check the dance floor, and I’ll check the tables over there.” Kat eyes a group of tables where a bunch of people hung out at.
Tyler nodded and set off, picking up her dress in the process.
Kat ventured over to the tables, already scanning each of them. She knew he wouldn’t be here, but it didn’t hurt just looking.
“Hey, Kat!” Someone from one of the tables called her. She snapped her head in the direction and saw Brian with his group. She walked over.
“Hey Brian.” She stopped at the end of the table.
“Looking for something?” He asked her with the creepiest set of hungry eyes she could imagine.
“More like someone. Have you seen Jay?” She asked, folding her arms over her chest, since that was where his eyes were lurking.
“Sadly, no. But you are more than welcome to hang out with us.” He smirked again. The rest of the group snickering.
Kat grimaced. “I’ll pass, thanks.” She turned around and strode off, hearing a few whistles and cheering coming from behind.
Idiots.
She decided to go find the rest of the guys, hoping they might have seen him. They were all chilling in the bleachers. But before she could reach them, someone grabbed her hand.
“Kat! You’re here!” Danny Reebro greeted her with a bright smile.
“Hey Danny! Nice dress!” Kat gestured to her maroon colored dress which flowed out in silk.
She smiled down at it. “Thanks, Jin picked it out.” Her cheeks turned a light shade of pink. “So, you gonna join us over by the bleachers?”
Kat shook her head. “Unfortunately, not yet. I can’t find Jay.” She scanned the area around them.
“Oh, I know where he is.”
Kat whipped her head back around. “You do? Where?”
“Follow me.” Danny grabbed her wrist and pulled her across the field to one of the tents. “He’s been in the VIP tent fixing the lights since 3pm. You have a dedicated one.” She smirked over her shoulder at Kat, which blushed in response. She did indeed.
They reached the tent and Kat peeked inside. There he was, standing on top the stage before a big turntable covered in wires and such. He looked extremely focused which made Kat a little uneasy on the knees. Something turning in her stomach as she admired crease on his face. Damn he looked hot.
“Come find us when you’re done, okay?” Danny squeezed her hand before disappearing.
Kat simply stood by the entrance, leaning on one of the light stands, arms folded. She waited for him to notice her. He was still in his black hoodie and jeans, hair a mess from running his hand through it too much. He does that when he’s concentrating.
He seemed to be talking to some guy next to him, wearing a beanie and sweats. Scratching his beard as he looked over Jay’s shoulder at what he was doing.
Jungkook seemed to have fixed something, because he looked up in triumph as he made a fist in the air, smiling. Kat chuckled.
He leaned against the table and looked around the tent, his eyes finally landing on her. He stopped dead.
She raised an eyebrow and smirked up at him. He seemed to have gone limp as he dropped his hands from the table to his sides and gaped at her, mouthing the word wow.
She chuckled as he jumped off the stage and jogged over to her, doing a little dance halfway. She laughed even more as she covered her mouth with her hand, shaking her head. “You are such a moron.”
He smiled at her as he filled the rest of the gap between them. “And you are a stunning piece of artwork.” He emphasized on the word stunning as he wrapped his arms around her.
She pulled him in, smelling his cologne he always wears. Even though he wasn’t wearing a suit, he still looked really good. She just wanted to trace her hand through his hair.
He pulled away and stepped back, observing her. Both hands together on his lips. ”Wow.” Was all he said. “Wow, wow, wow.”
Kat chuckled, rolling her eyes. “Ok I get it.”
“Do you though? Do you get the fact that you look so good right now?” He looked her up and down multiple times, her glaring at him. “You’re my girlfriend?”
Kat scoffed and playfully punched his shoulder. “And what is that supposed to mean?”
He chuckled, defending himself. “I’m just asking to make absolute sure that you, this beautiful woman standing in front of me with this beautiful, seductive dress is my girlfriend.”
“Yes.” Kat stared at him.
“You belong to me?” His face brightened with every word.
“Yeees, now can we stop with this? You are making feel a little called out over here.”
“Ok, I’m sorry.” He chuckled as he embraced her again, his head in the nape of her neck. “You smell really good too.”
“Mmmm, it’s the one you got me for my birthday.”
“Really?” He pulled back, eyeing her.
“Yes, the vanilla one.”
“Why do I not remember that?” He interlaced their fingers together.
“My birthday was last week.” She gaped at him.
He scrunched up his face, thinking. “Nooo, I don’t think that was me.”
Kat figured he was teasing and poked his stomach, causing him to chuckle. “So, are you done here?” She gestured to the stage.
He glanced over his shoulder. “Ummm, almost. Just got one last light to connect and then I am all yours.” He smirked as he leaned in, planting a soft kiss on her cheek.
Kat sighed. “Ok, then make it quick.”
He winked at her before rushing off to the stage again. Kat found an empty seat in the corner of the tent and sat there patiently.
……………………
Jungkook analyzed the table filled with wires. “Why does everything have to be so fucking chaotic?” He said to himself as he tried to find the last wire.
Jonah, the guy who was lending this entire set with the lights, walked over. “So, who’s the pretty lady over there?”
Jungkook glanced up at him and found his eyes on Kat, sitting in the corner. “That’s my girlfriend.” He stated simply, going back to the wires.
“You fucked her yet?”
Jungkook whipped his head up at him. “Excuse me?”
“Oh, come on. You can not tell me that you got someone as hot as her as a girlfriend, and you haven’t banged her yet?” Jonah took a cigarette out of his pocket and placed it in his mouth.
“I would appreciate it if you continued with your job.” Jungkook’s voiced rasped. He was angry. This man was probably forty, no, fifty and he was talking that kind of shit about his girlfriend?
“Oh, come on, pal. Lighten up. Isn’t that what you school kids do these days? To see who’s the first one to get laid?”
Jungkook was awfully close to shoving him off the stage. “Sir, can I ask you not get too personal with the questions?” He felt his grip tightening on the wires.
Jonah scoffed. “Alright, fine.” He leaned against the table. “All I’m saying is if I had a woman like her, I would have done her already.” He lit his cigarette.
Jungkook’s lips tightened as he looked up, scoffed once, before hurtling towards the man. One punch and he was on the floor, a cracking sound filled the entire tent.
“Jungkook!” Kat’s voice called out in the distance.
He just stared down at the man, grabbing his nose which seemed to be bleeding. “You fucking prick!” He spat up at him.
Jungkook grimaced down at him. “Keep talking shit like that and your nose won’t be the only thing that’s broken.”
He felt a hand on his arm as Kat gasped at the man’s bloody nose. “Jay.”
“You’ll regret that.” Jonah groaned.
Jungkook scoffed. “And what? You gonna attack me? Last time I checked it isn’t me falling to the ground after just one punch.”
“Jay.” Kat tugged on his sleeve.
He looked at her and took her hand. Glancing one last time at the groaning man on the floor. He flipped him off before leaving the tent.
………..
“Let me look at your hand.” Kat said as she attempted to grab his right hand.
He jerked it away. “No, it’s fine, I’m okay.”
Kat glared at him. “No, you aren’t. Let me see it.” She tried grabbing again but he dodged and slid around her to her other side.
“I’m alright, I promise.” He lied once again.
“Jay, stop being an ignorant ass and give me your hand.” She stretched her hand out again.
Jungkook dodged her again and began jogging backwards. “You can’t touch me if I’m running away from you.”
Kat glared at him, shaking her head. “Crackhead.”
Jungkook began laughing until he felt a pair of hands grab him from behind. He swung around and through a punch. Thankfully, the person ducked.
“Are you fucking insane?!” Tae cried, as he knelt on the ground, hands over his head.
Jungkook stared down at his friend. “Oh, sorry, buddy.” He held out his hand for him to take, but he got up by himself, straightening his jacket.
“I could have died.” Tae exaggerated.
“It would have knocked you over, tops.” Jungkook said.
“Coming from you? I would have been punched into my grave.” Tae grimaced at his friend.
“Funny you say that.” Kat eyes Jungkook from the side who immediately looked away.
Tae glared at him. “Who did you kill?”
Jungkook scoffed. “No one.” He shrugged. “Some guy kept gawking at Kat, so I gave him something else to gawk at.”
“You mooned him?” Tae’s eyes went big.
“What? No, I punched him in the- you know what, never mind.” Jungkook rolled his eyes over to the item his friend carried. “What’s that?”
Tae’s eyes went even bigger, glaring him down. “Your. Suit.” He strained.
Jungkook raised his eyebrows. “Ohhhhh, right.” He glanced down at his hoodie. “Shit.”
Tae nodded a bit too fast. “Yes. I have been running around trying to find you for the past 2 hours, man!”
Kat noticed his bandana was drenched in sweat and his suit was ruffled in some places.
“I was in the tent the entire time.” Jungkook pointed over his shoulder to the big tent.
Tae looked over at the tent. “Tents…” He looked like he was going to pass out. “Why didn’t I check the tents?”
Kat squeezed her lips together, trying not to laugh. “Hey, you know what, why don’t you take him to get changed and we will meet you by the bleachers?” Kat nudged him next to Jungkook.
“Ok, don’t miss me too much.” Jungkook smirked as he leaned down and planted a soft kiss on her lips.
“Agh.” Tae groaned. “Can you too stop kanoodling?” Tae gagged.
They both glanced at the man. “Like you don’t kanoodle with Tyler?” Jungkook asked and Kat snorted.
Tae scoffed. “Of course not.”
Both Jungkook and Kat stared him down.
He bit his lip. “I’m leaving.” He began walking towards the changing rooms.
Jungkook chuckled and planted another quick kiss on her cheek before catching up to his friend. “Hey wait up man, don’t be so emotional.
……………..
She found her friends still chilling in the bleachers and strode over to them. Danny noticed her first. “Hey! Where’s Jungkook?”
“Changing.” She glanced to where Tyler sat next to Yoongi and Iris. “Tae found him.”
Tyler shook her head. “Let me guess, he was in plain sight?”
Kat didn’t even have to say a word as she gave her friend a look.
“I swear, I want to believe that that man is intelligent.” She shook her head.
Kat chuckled as she folded her arms, looking up at all of them. Yoongi and Iris were sitting together, they were each other’s dates. Jin and Danny were snuggling in the first line. Olivia and Hobi were chatting a few seats next to Yoongi. But she noticed that Jimin and Blue were not there.
Until she caught a glimpse of green rounding the corner from the bathrooms and strode over to them, hand in hand.
“Hey, Kat.” Jimin smiled at her.
“Hey, guys. Out for a little stroll?” She winked at Blue who rolled her eyes.
“Shut the fuck up, Kat.” Blue joked.
Kat snickered as she eyed Jimin. His face was turning red. His ears? Even redder.
They both grabbed a seat next to Emma who sat alone on the top level.
“Hey, Emma. I love your dress.” Kat called up to the bored girl, who smiled in response.
She looked rather down, and Kat knew exactly why. She walked over to Danny and bent down to whisper. “Where the hell is Joon?”
Danny gave her a sad look. “I don’t know. He’s an hour late.”
Kat glanced up at the raven-haired girl again. “Well, he better be here soon. She looks like she might just leave.”
“Maybe she should.” A harsh voice came from behind Kat.
She turned around and found Beatrice. Long red hair matching her short red dress. Painted red lips to go with it. Her overly whitened teeth beaming at them.
“You know, since coming to prom alone is the worst thing ever.” She smirked up at Emma, who gave her a vulgar gesture in return.
“Hey, Bea. Shouldn’t you be tide up dangling above the dancefloor? They said they needed a disco ball, and I thought you offered up since your teeth can lighten up the darkest of rooms.” Kat gave her a sweet smile.
“Funny. Where’s Jungkook? Did he ditch you again?” She glanced around as if to try and catch him.
“You know what, Bea?”
“Again?” Jin chimed.
“This was just supposed to be our little groups fun night, and you’re kind of ruining it.” Tyler said.
Beatrice smiled. “Pity. I wanted to come say hi to all the girls.” She stated. “And boys.” She smirked at Jimin who looked a little uncomfortable.
“Well, that sucks cause we weren’t planning to say hi to the bitch queen tonight, so, yeah, it’s a pity.” Kat pouted.
Beatrice, glared at her, before returning her eyes to Emma. “You must be feeling really lonely up there. Looking down at all the couples. Why, oh why did no one ask you?” Beatrice asked in that gut wrenching sweet voice of hers. “Where is your prince, dear little Emma?”
“Behind you.”
Beatrice whipped around and slowly looked up. The rest of the group were smiling like idiots. Emma looking a little confused.
“Really?” Beatrice asked, smiling sweetly at Joon.
“Yes. Now if you don’t mind, you are kind of blocking my path.” Joon smiled sweetly at her in return.
She replaced her smile with a cold stare, as she slowly stepped aside.
He was holding a bouquet of flowers as he walked over next to Kat. His eyes were fixed on Emma’s. “Emma, can you come down from there, please?” He asked.
She scoffed as she slowly got up and lazily walked down the stairs. “What the fuck is this, Joon?” She tried her best to hide her smile as she walked up to him.
“Listen, I know it took forever. I’m sorry, I had a lot of work to do, and I had to help a friend out and then my mom wanted me to- “
Yoongi cleared his throat, cutting him off.
Joon smiled sheepishly and shook his head. “Never mind. It doesn’t matter. What matters is that I didn’t ask you when I really wanted to. I left you alone when I shouldn’t have. I have gave you too much hope thinking that I was going to-“
“Ok, ok, Joon? The point?” Emma chuckled.
He shook his head again, shutting his eyes in embarrassment. “My point is that I am here now. And I am asking you if you would be my date to the prom?”
He held out the flowers as he looked her in the eyes.
She pursed her lips, trying not to smile as she took the flowers and tilted her head to the side. “You know, this is the most Namjooney thing you could have possibly pulled.”
Everyone chuckled at her statement as Joon scratched his neck. “Yeah, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. You succeeded in the end.” She said.
He smiled brighter as she laced her fingers with his.
Sniffing came from Danny and Jin. “Oh my god, Joon. Who knew you were such a romantic?” Jin sniffed again before fake blowing into an invisible tissue. Danny dabbing his fake tears with his tie.
………………….
Jungkook finally got dressed after too many attempts at his tie.
“Which loop goes where?”
“I think it goes this way.”
“Wait no that doesn’t seem right.”
“Are even supposed to have loops?”
“I thought you knew how to do a tie!”
“My mom did mine now stop yelling at me!”
“This is fucking pointless.”
“Want to go without it?”
“No, I promised Kat I’d wear a tie.”
“Why the fuck did you promise?”
“I don’t know, dude!”
“Well, that was fucking stupid! We all know we don’t make promises that would end in us humiliating ourselves in the end!”
“Why didn’t you fucking tell me that before?!”
“Do I look like an Advisor to you?!”
But after quite a few attempts, they were able to do it. Jungkook looked himself in the changing room mirror.
“This tie looks fucked up.”
Tae put a hand on his back, guiding him outside. “Well, at least you have one, now let’s go.”
They rushed outside and noticed that it was already dark.
“Shit, how long did we take?” Jungkook checked his watch.
Tae smacked his arm away. “Doesn’t matter, you are dressed, now let’s find out girls.” The walked off toward the bleachers.
Then halted, as they noticed the back of a girl near the edge of the field, sobbing.
“Pick up, pick up!” You stupid piece of shit!” She was yelling at her phone.
Tae and Jungkook eyed each other. Tae immediately shaking his head. “That’s Beatrice, dude.”
“Yeah, I know but-“
“No buts. Let’s just go.” He grabbed his hand and began pulling.
Jungkook stood his ground. “Something could be wrong.”
Tae glanced at her again. She was shaking and sniffing and looking as if she would break down. “She looks fine.” He started pulling his friend again. But Jungkook released his grasp.
He slowly walked toward her, going through what he was going to say in his head. He got arm’s length before lightly tapping her on her shoulder. “Hey, is everything okay?”
She looked up at him and continued to sob. “My date stood me up.” She whaled.
He looked over at Tae who gave him the look and told him to leave. He shook his head.
“Um, well, I’m sorry.” Jungkook felt extremely awkward as he just stood there next to her, watching her cry.
Tae gestured for him to walk away, but he didn’t listen. So, Tae breathed out in annoyance as he strode over. “Hi, Beatrice. I’m sorry you had such a dickhead for a date. Enjoy your night.” He grabbed Jungkook’s arm and pulled.
“Wait!” She called out, causing them both to stop. “You wouldn’t want me to feel alone, would you? On prom night?”
They both exchanged a look. Tae had so many words in his eyes, but Jungkook walked over again.
“I mean, you could join us if you want?” He could feel the daggers Tae was throwing at the back of his head. “Or maybe danc- “
“I’d love to dance.” She said before grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the dance floor in the middle of the field. Maybe he should have listened to his friend.
…………………
“Here’s one, Thor, Iron Man, Spiderman.” Blue slurred. Apparently, she had snuck some tequila into her water bottle.
Jin cleared his throat. “This one’s easy. Kiss Ironman, Fuck Thor and Marry Spiderman.”
Everyone gasped.
“What!?”
“No way!”
“What do you mean No way? Thor is Thor!” Jin defended.
“Fuck Spiderman, hands down!” Emma called out.
“100%”
“What?!” Jin protested. “Why?!”
“Because he’s hot!” Olivia bellowed.
“And who knows what else he can do with those webs slingers.” Blue winked at him.
Jin looked slightly impressed. “I mean, I see your point.”
Kat almost died of laughter until she noticed Tae running up to them, looking rather nervous.
“Hey, Tae. Where’s Jay?” Kat asked.
He halted and plastered on a smile. “Oh, Jay? Oh right! Yeah, where….where is he…” He licked his lips, preparing for what he was about to say.
“Tae.”
“Beatrice got him.” He blurted out.
Kat’s eyes bulged. “The bitch did what?!”
He held up his hands. “Nothing serious, she just dragged him to the dance floor and will not let go of him.”
Kat felt her blood begin to boil. She didn’t say a word as she marched off towards the middle of the field. The others close behind her.
“Oh, shit. Jimin, get up! We can’t miss this!” Blue shoved him off the seat. Having them both almost roll down the stairs in the process.
Kat scanned the dancefloor for them, and immediately found the red splotch right in the middle of it. She huffed as she walked faster, her heels keeping her from sprinting.
……………………….
Jungkook looked like he was in pain. He really regrets walking up to her, now he knows that it was just a big scheme. Well played, Bea. Well Played.
She was holding onto him too tightly as if he would run away. Which was exactly what he wanted to do right now.
He glanced around, hoping to find Tae, or any kind of help. But instead found the angry eyes of Kat marching towards them. She didn’t look happy.
“Oh, shit.” He said out loud. Causing Beatrice to look up to where he was looking, and smirked.
…………………………
Kat was ready to smack a bitch. She neared the floor and caught the eyes of her boyfriend, they were asking for help.
She then met the eyes of the bitch herself, as she smirked at her.
Don’t you dare.
Oh, she dared.
Kat halted as Beatrice grabbed his head and pulled it down to hers, crashing her lips on his.
“Oh shit!” She heard Jin chime.”
“Bitch!” Tyler bellowed, which caused heads to turn.
Kat was ready. She began marching again, straight towards them like a fucking bullet, as she watched Jungkook immediately pull his head back. “Woah! What the hell!?” He said to the Beatrice.
Beatrice just simply smirked up at him and then to Kat, who was walking across the dancefloor now. “Come to join our little party?” She called over the music.
Kat stayed silent, still marching.
“Angry are you? What are you gonna’ do? Attack m-“
SMACK!
Beatrice lost her balance, almost falling to the ground as he she held her cheek, mouth agape.
“Don’t you fucking touch him.” Kat said, a little too calmly.
Jungkook just stared at her in pure amazement.
“Oh, she is so winning Prom Queen.” Blue said, Jimin nudging her to be quiet.
Beatrice started to breath harder, tears filling her eyes. “Don’t you dare put a hand on me.” She growled.
Kat raised an eyebrow. “So, we’ve come to an agreement?”
Beatrice gave her a cold stare, then to Jungkook, then to the rest of her friends, before straightening up, removing her hand from her cheek, and simply walked off the dancefloor.
They both kept eye contact, until she was the one who turned away first.
Kat felt a hand on her shoulder. A light whistle sounded by her ear. “Damn. Who knew I wasn’t the only one who could physically disable someone?”
She smiled lightly before looking up to him. “Another reason why we are perfect for each other.” He smirked down at her.
“Amen!” Tyler called out.
Jungkook pulled her in for a hug. “You okay?”
She breathed out, pulling away. “Yeah, I’m okay. You?”
He bit his lip. “Not gonna lie.” He looked her in the eyes. “I’m a little turned on.”
She snorted before nudging him. “After we have a dance.” She promised. He smiled and kissed her.
……………………..
The rest of the night was pretty good. They played some good music which had everyone showing off their best moves. Especially Jin, who proceeded to do some sort of dance he made up himself. “Come on guys! Everyone is doing it these days.”
“Where did I find you?” Danny asked, shaking her head.
There came a time where the boys huddled together and danced and joked around whilst the girls made their own circle and laughed as Blue attempted to twerk.
Everything was great. Jungkook kept catching her eye and winking at her, reminding her about her promise. She would simply smirk back and continue dancing.
It was a great way to end their prom night, until a pair of hands found their way up Kat’s dress.
She whipped her head around and found the person smiling at her. His beard looking a little too scratchy. It was the guy from the tent that Jungkook punched.
“Can I help you?” She furrowed her brows at him.
He raised his. “Oh certainly.” He smirked. “Wanna dance?” He placed his hand on her hip.
“Um, no thank you.” She stepped to the side.
“Aw, come on. Why don’t you play with me like you play with your little boyfriend over there, huh?” He again attempted to put his hand up her dress.
Bad idea.
Kat grabbed his arm and twisted it, causing him to howl in pain. Everyone’s attention was on them now.
“I said no thanks.” Kat said again.
Jungkook saw what was happening and his mind flipped. “Shit.” He stomped over to them.
“I see you like it rough, huh?” The man joked.
Kat grimaced in disgust and kicked his knee, causing him to fall to the ground. All that time in self defense class really paid off as he now lay flat on the ground, Kat still twisting his arm as she kept one heel on his back.
Jungkook stood next to her, immediately crossing his arms. “Well, how many times has the floor become your friend now?”
“Piss off.” Jonah spat on the ground, his cheek smooshed against the floor.
Jungkook scoffed. “Now you know not to mess with either of us, got it?”
Jonah looked up at him, smirking. “I wouldn’t mind it, as long as she keeps wearing that lace underwear every time.”
Jungkook’s smile dropped.
Kat gasped and let go of his arm, stepping back.
Jungkook gave him a smile before grabbing him. Lifting him up so his feet hung off the ground. “You want to run that by me again?”
Jonah struggled in his grasp. “I can take you! Put me down! I can take you!”
Jungkook tried not to laugh at this sad excuse for a man. “You sure about that?” He asked.
And just before Jonah could reply, the rest of the boys came and stood behind Jungkook, staring up at the guy. One after the other.
“Alright, wanna go?” Jungkook asked.
“No!” Jonah gasped. “No…” He stopped struggling. He simply gave up.
Jungkook brought him closer to his face. “Now what you are going to do right now, is pack up your shit and leave. We don’t care, take your goddamn lights, we’ll dance in the dark. But if you come back,” There was pure anger in his eyes. “Don’t be surprised if you wake up in a ditch tomorrow morning.”
Jonah shut his eyes and nodded. Jungkook dropped him, not even bothering to do it lightly. He watched as the man scrambled on to his feet and ran.
Everyone was silent until Tae placed and arm around his friends’ shoulders and yelled in triumph. “Holy Shit, dude!”
The whole dance floor started cheering, clapping and whistling at the amazing thing that just happened.
Kat walked over to him. He was still angry, pissed actually.
He was still watching the man hurry off to the tent. She put both her hands on his face. “Hey! Jay! Look at me!” He glanced down to her, chewing his cheek.
“Are you okay?” He asked, pulling her closer.
“I’m fine. Jay-“
“I swear if he touched you-“
“I’m oka-“
“What did he do?”
“Jay! Listen to me!” She yelled.
He stopped, looking her in the eyes.
She traced her hands down his chest. “You’re angry. And so am I.” She pointed.
“I know, I just hate perverts like that-“
“Let’s use it to our advantage.” She whispered into his ear.
He froze. Staring at her. The corners of his lips began lifting as she nodded.
He grabbed her hand and walked over to their friends. “Hey guys, we’re pretty dazed, we’re gonna go get some fresh air.” He told them.
Tae nodded. “Alright, don’t be gone too long. They gonna announce the King and Queen soon.”
Jungkook nodded. “Thanks. See you later.”
And they were off, running towards the parking area.
“They are not getting fresh air.” Blue said.
Everyone looked to her.
Yoongi nodded in approval as Jin snorted.
“Nice.” Jimin smirked, watching the two of them rushing off.
……………………….
They couldn’t get home fast enough. They could have done it in the car, but Jungkook said he didn’t want anything in the way for what he wanted to do.
Even on the way there, she teased him by placing her hand on his sensitive area, which almost had them swerving into a tree.
Thankfully, his house was a few blocks from there, and his parents were on date night, so the house was completely empty.
He swerved into the parking, didn’t even bother applying the hand break as they rushed out the car. Him almost choking on the seatbelt before realizing he had it on.
Kat laughed as she ran off to the door, waiting for him.
He walked past the door and immediately grabbed her, smashing his lips with hers placing a hand above her head. He didn’t care if his neighbors could see, let them be jealous.
“Jay, the door.” She said between breaths.
He groaned and he fumbled with his keys in his pocket. “Shit.” He had never hated keys so much in his life until that very moment.
Finally, he found the right one and opened the door, picking her up to straddle him as he walked in, kissing her.
He didn’t care if he bumped into anything. Heck, his mom’s favorite vase can go to hell.
He kicked the door closed with a bang before proceeding to the stairs leading to the second floor.
But as he got to the second step, his knees buckled, and he almost dropped her. Kat screaming in panic as she grabbed on to the railing.
He swore. “Um, I think just to be safe…”
She snorted and he put her down, both of them running up the stairs, heavy footsteps behind them.
When they both got to the floor, safely, she turned to him.
“Okay.” He reassured as she jumped onto him again, both of them laughing hysterically at what they just did. They were idiots, honestly.
He made his way to his room, placing her on his bed as he kissed her. She then grabbed at his jacket and almost ripped it off.
“Easy now. Don’t waste the anger on anything that doesn’t deserve it.” He smirked as he removed his jacket, and then his shirt. Even the poor excuse for a tie was flung in an instant. Kat gawking up at his finely tanned skin, her eyes following every crevice of his abs.
It was her turn to remove her dress, which took less effort as he simply pulled it over her head, leaving her in her underwear.
He smirked down at the lacey material. “I’m the only one that can see you in these.” He gripped at her underwear. “Only me.”
She moaned as he slid them off, throwing them to the side. He leaned down and kissed her again, letting her feel him upon her bare skin.
She growled and tugged at his belt, causing him to chuckle. “Very impatient.”
He helped her, as the belt fell with a clang and his pants along with it.
She stared at him, in all his glory. They had only done this about three times before, but every time he reveals himself, she is just always thrown off guard.
He immediately fell on top of her, sucking on her neck and she wrapped her legs around him.
Her hands through his hair, she hadn’t even noticed when he removed her bra. He gripped the bed board as he thrusted into her.
Causing her to gasp a little, like she said, she was always thrown off guard. He went slow, not wanting to hurt her, but she bit his shoulder and scratched his back, telling him to give her more.
So, he did.
They went on and on until they could both feel the knot expanding inside themselves. She could feel him twitch, knowing he was close.
His breathing was rigged as he balanced himself above her, his legs shaking. They had never been this hard before.
“Kat.” He panted, sweat dripping from his brow.
She kissed him, telling him it was okay, he knew she was on birth control and already had Plan B at home, but he still wanted to ask. He looked her in the eyes, making double sure.
“It’s okay.” She whispered. Stroking his face.
He gripped the board and threw his head into the nape of her neck, filling her up with everything that he had. She unleashed herself too.
She felt him, all of him. Every part, every touch, every breath. She felt him, and she knew right then and there, that she wanted no other man but him. She wanted no one else to touch her the way he did. To love her the way he did, because right now, he proved to her that all she needed was right here.
They went silent, only the sound of their breathing filled the room. As he kept his head in her neck, her legs around him, her hands in his hair.
He started leaving light kisses from her temple down to her chest, marking her. “So every goddamn man out there will know that you are taken.” He breathed.
She met his gaze and smiled. “Who else would I be with?”
He smiled, laying his head upon her abdomen, resting, gazing up at her. “No one who doesn’t deserve you.”
She stroked his hair, watching as his head bobbed with her breathing.
They were ready to lay there forever until there was a ding from his suit jacket. And then another, and then another. And then the room was filled with the sound as they frowned at each other.
Jungkook groaned. “Agggh, let me put it on silent.” He got up and walked over to his jacket on the floor. He was surprised to see his phone wasn’t cracked.
He opened the messages and went still. “Oh shit.”
Kat glanced at him. “What’s wrong?”
He turned around, smirking. “Guess who won Prom King and Queen.”
She gaped at him, unable to speak as he winked at her.
“No way. Really?” She laughed.
“Mmmmh mhm.” He hummed as he threw his phone on his desk chair and strode over to her.
“Well, shit.” She chuckled. “I bet Beatrice is pissed.”
“She’s probably crying in her room with an ice pack pressed to her cheek as we speak.” Jungkook chuckled. He hopped onto the bed, sitting up on his elbows, smiling at her. “This calls for a celebration.” He bopped his eyebrows at her.
She snorted as he crawled over to her. “Alright, but I’m top this time.”
Jungkook chuckled, leaning in to kiss her. “Anything for my Queen.”
