"Four Crows Investigation" - Kaz Brekker x Reader
[vulgar language]
[Part 2 - Lovebirds' Outfox]
☽ REQUESTS ARE OPEN ☾
Enjoying my work? You can leave me a tip on Ko-Fi
SUMMARY: After Nina makes a passing comment about Brekker’s heartbeat, three crows join her in an investigation to uncover the true nature of your relationship with Kaz.
WORDCOUNT: ~ 1.4k
>>Grishaverse-inspired playlist<<
Sitting around the table, leaning forward in a secretive manner, the four Crows look nothing short of a conspiracy. Their appearance is in no way deceptive - that’s exactly the reason for their meeting. Nina looks between Jesper’s and Wylan’s shoulders, checking whether you and Kaz are in any way suspicious of their gathering. For now, you look a little too preoccupied with each other. Time for the final conference.
The Heartrender leans even further towards her friends, looking between them with a questioning gaze. She seems to be the most excited about this ‘secretive investigation’, as she called it a week ago, but that should not come as a surprise - all of this has been her idea from start to finish. The moment she noticed Kaz’s heartbeat significantly pick up when you showed up in a ball gown in an attempt to mix in with the immorally wealthy crowd at the banquet, Nina simply had to know more. Her friends, although reluctant at first, joined the scheme out of their own meddling.
“So, what did you manage to find out?” She’s trying to keep her voice quiet but the sheer excitement makes it difficult.
“I still don’t understand why we’re doing this,” Wylan stutters out while shaking his head gently. He may be part of a crime syndicate now but spying on his friends, and his boss, just seems too far.
“Because we care about them?” Jesper asks with fake worry in his voice. Then, a devious smile appears on his face. “And we’re morbidly curious.”
“Can’t we just ask them, then?”
“As if either of them is going to say something,” Inej grunts. Knowing both of you fairly well, she never expected a straightforward question to get anything outside of a snarky comment or a side-eye.
Nina impatiently taps her hand on the table. “Alright, who goes first?”
╚ Jesper’s Evidence ╝
He knows Kaz is going to get angry the moment he walks through the door but, at the same time, Jesper’s kind of out of options. As much as he hates to admit it to himself and definitely will not do it aloud, he’s facing an impasse.
The moment he pushes the door open, your and Kaz’s eyes snap towards him. He makes a note of your shoulders - brushing against one another as you’re standing over scattered papers, a little too close for practicality or for the closeness to be accredited to accident. You’re definitely giving the impression that he walked in at an inconvenient moment.
But Jesper is good at bluffing, never giving away that he noticed the thought-provoking lack of space between you. “Carliogne won’t talk unless he sees the contract you signed with Bruglione,” he informs. “His reasoning is that we’re probably trying to fuck him over.”
Kaz stares at him for a moment with an unreadable expression. “We are,” he finally answers.
“Well, he doesn’t need to know that for now, does he?”
“It makes sense,” you speak up. Pondering, you nod to yourself. “If he sees the contract, he’ll become less cautious and playing him should be even easier. Just wait a second,” you wave your hand at Jesper, “I think I put it in the bottom drawer.”
The moment you crouch behind the desk, Jesper’s eyes catch movement - Kaz is covering the edge of the table over your head with his hand. Considering that he’s looking at papers in the opposite direction, he might not even be aware of this little habit. The gunslinger stifles a smile. Nina is going to love this.
Soon, you stand back up at the protective hand reaches to flip through a wad of documents as though nothing has happened. Extending your arm towards Jesper, you offer him the folded contract between your two fingers.
“Please, don’t get it stained.”
“Can’t make promises,” he says with a cheeky smile as he snatches the paper from you.
Jesper hears your groan right before he closes the door behind himself.
╚ Wylan’s Evidence ╝
Wylan rarely got ‘field work’ aside from setting up explosives. The out-of-ordinary occasions were stake-outs, when he’d sit in one place for hours on end waiting for something to happen, having only Jesper’s company to pass the time - not that there’s anything wrong with that. In fact, that’s the only part that makes those ‘patrol duties’ bearable.
Although he feels uneasy creepily watching, he’s supposed to wait for an agreed-on sign to carry out his part in the plan. And with Jesper gone to the bathroom, the responsibility of staying vigilant is his only. Sitting on the carriage bench, he has a good view of the street but most of his attention surrounds a certain table at a boulangerie near the junction. You and Kaz are doing a great job at looking common - just drinking coffee, chatting, completely run-of-the-mill people and definitely not hardened criminals ready to call their companions to action when their prey is in sight.
Wylan suddenly sits up, hardly believing the scene unfolding before his eyes: you offer Kaz your bagel and he just… bites it. No glares, no scowls, he just takes a bite and you continue the conversation. Maybe Nina was right and something is up.
The carriage shakes slightly as Jesper gets back on it. “What did I miss?” he asks in an upbeat voice.
╚ Inej’s Evidence ╝
It’s the middle of the night but Inej rarely works at other times. Only one thing stands between her and the comfort of her bed - Kaz. She’s well-aware that he’s still going to be working at this hour, making her wonder once more: when does he rest?
Kaz seems to be expecting her as he doesn’t even flinch when she barges into his office. He just looks up at her for a moment, only to return to writing something. Inej is about to tell him what Lorenzzo Carliogne had been up to during the day, when her eyes focus on a surprising singularity: the daybed standing in the corner of the office, used as an additional shelf or a desk most of the time, is occupied. First, she realizes that it’s you sleeping on it but then another, a much more interesting detail, catches her eye in the dim candlelight of the room - you’re covered with a coat that undoubtedly looks like it belongs to Kaz.
“I take it there’s a reason you’re here at this hour?” Brekker brings her attention back to himself.
“Yes,” she starts, sparing you one last glance before looking at Kaz, “Carliogne lives with his wife and three children. Staff comes in through a separate pair of doors, only the main chef and butler have keys to it. There’s a rotation in guards during lunch.”
“Good,” he answers. Kaz looks up at Inej but again, it’s just for a moment - his focus is soon directed at the papers in front of him.
A silence falls. The thought to inquire about you, the daybed and his coat passes her thoughts but an instinct dissuades her from doing so. Because realistically, what sort of answer would Kaz give her anyway? It’s better to spare herself the snark and just go to bed.
The four friends look between each other, curious whether all of them came to the same conclusion. Tense excitement hangs in the air. There is a certain aspect of juvenile nosyness that entices them, making this whole over-the-top operation fun and not just a gossip convention.
A pout twists Nina’s face. It would have looked sad if it wasn’t for her raised eyebrows, making her expression more compassionate than woeful. “They’re so in love it’s kind of embarrassing,” she announces.
Three pairs of eyes follow her pitiful gaze to the faraway table where you’re sitting with Kaz, oblivious to the interest the Crows have in you. It looks like you’re retelling him a story, gesturing wildly with one of your hands, while the other is kept on the table, underneath his gloved fingers. Kaz is just nodding along, answering something shortly from time to time.
“Just look at them,” Jesper says with a sense of misguided pride as though he had some contribution in the makings of the couple. He’s shaking his head with amusement. “How could we ever had any doubts?”
“Do you think they know that we know?” Wylan asks quietly.
Inej shrugs. “I don’t think they care.”

A MISTAKE | KAZ BREKKER
Summary: Imagine doing an unsuccessful heist and Kaz taking it out on you.
The heist hadn't gone as planned. It was no one's fault, you had just been incredibly unlucky, but Kaz was still enraged at everyone and looking for a guilty one, accusing everyone on their turn before you stepped in.
"Kaz, stop it." You sighed, wrapping your arms around yourself. "We could have done nothing otherwise. Sometimes these things happen, it isn't anyone's fault. You made a brilliant plan, we all tried to follow it-"
"No," Kaz grumbled, glaring at you in turn. "A mistake like this can't happen without someone taking responsibility. You weren't much of an use either, or what were you doing there at the hallway when guards were rushing towards us? We could have hid, but you gave us away before we could. I blame you all the same for this failure!" He shouted, his eyes flashing dangerously.
Your face dropped at Kaz's words and you took a step back from him. His hands clenched around his cane as he glared at you.
"I didn't do anything wrong," you mumbled, trying to hold his gaze.
He snorted and turned away from you. "Yes, you did. This wasn't your first job, so why the hell did you think you could get away with going solo there?!"
You rolled your eyes, clenching your jaw. "I had to! They could have reached us and killed us all if I didn't slow them down!"
Kaz scoffed. "If you would have followed the plan, we could have had an opportunity to hide!"
"No," you shook your head quickly. "They knew exactly where we were, they would have surrounded us and either imprisoned us or killed us! For your information, I saved our lives so thank you so much for your fucking gratitude!"
"Kaz, they're right, we could have-" Jesper tried to intervene but Kaz interrupted him.
"This is between me and them, keep your mouth shut!" Kaz growled.
"Hey, let's just all take some time to calm down." Wylan murmured as he carefully approached you but Kaz still hadn't stopped.
"You're of no use," he snarled at you. "We don't need people like you during heists, maybe you should take up the broom instead or stay in your room, out of sight."
"Kaz!" Inej scolded him while the rest of the Crows stood dumbfounded, staring at Kaz in shock.
Your eyes became glossy, tears threatening to spill over. But Kaz still didn't seem to care. So you turned around and sprinted towards the Slat, letting the cold wind bite your face as your tears finally began cascading over your cheeks.
The Crows stood there for a while, seeing you disappearing to the crowd. Then they all laid disappointed looks at Kaz.
"Happy now?" Nina sighed and started walking faster, with no doubt of wanting to offer a listening ear for your once again broken heart.
They all knew you both had feelings for each other, but you didn't deserve to be treated like this by him. Kaz was usually cool and collected, but his conflicted feelings for you merged with frustration was never pretty to watch. But this was something worse than your usual bickerings, and Inej noticed the slight flash of regret in Kaz's eyes. He hid it incredibly well, but it was still there. She'd pop by his window in the morning and talk him into apologising to you like so many times before - you deserved to know he still cared about you, even when you had fights like these. She was just concerned about how many fights would you take before giving up on him...
---
Inej's presence floated in the air early in the morning. Sun had barely risen, and Kaz had once again stayed awake the whole night. You had usually made him sleep a little, even take a nap. Telling him his brains would be able to work harder if he slept and he wouldn't feel so frustrated.
But yesterday, from obvious reasons, you hadn't come to talk him into going into bed for a little while. It had felt weird, but Kaz knew the reason. Nina had taken food with her at the evening and headed towards your room, laying a glare at Kaz as she passed him but didn't say anything.
Kaz had sensed Inej long before the shadow passed his desk and Inej's soft steps approached him.
"Kaz," she sighed. "You owe them an apology."
Kaz ignored her. "What time is it?"
"Early."
"Is anyone else awake yet? We need to start working on a new plan."
"No. We need to talk about your fight yesterday with a certain Dreg."
"Why?" Kaz asked, irritated.
"When will you go and apologise to them?"
"There's nothing to apologise for."
"You had them cry in Nina's arms for an hour. Nina had to help them to fall asleep. So yes, you do have something to apologise for."
"It's fine, Inej."
"I'm serious, Kaz."
"They'll get over it."
"If you want them to hate you forever."
"They already hate me," Kaz muttered.
Inej sighed, staring at Kaz for a moment. Kaz ignored her accusatory look and just continued working with the plan. Suddenly, Inej's hand appeared on his way.
"Saints, Kaz!" she exclaimed suddenly and Kaz's eyes met hers for the first time today. "You need to think about their feelings for once."
"I don't have time to think about whether someone gets hurt from things I say, in the Barrel, you have to be tough and if you aren't, you're screwed." He huffed.
Inej sighed. "We all know you care about them more than you care about the rest of us. We know you have feelings for them."
Kaz paused then, letting a long breath through his nose. "I don't have feelings for them."
"You do. We all have seen how you look at each other. Nina has heard your heart when you look at them. You both are just so stubborn and won't act for it. It's getting ridiculous."
"It's not like that."
"You say it's not like that, but still everything points the other way."
"You don't know what you're talking about," Kaz growled, his fingers tapping the desk.
Inej groaned. "Kaz, you know you want to go to apologise. Swallow your pride for once.."
He huffed. "Dirtyhands being soft for someone doesn't fit the picture."
Inej laughed and rolled her eyes. "I know that while living in the Barrel and being a crime boss, it's necessary. But I know you. This is just petty, and you don't want to lose them. Go apologise. Or I'll drag you there."
Kaz looked at Inej for a moment longer before he took a big breath in and stood up. "Fine," he grumbled, "I'll go talk to them."
---
Kaz didn't know how long exactly he had stood in front of your room. He couldn't help but think that you would be too angry at him to speak - and Inej's claim of you having feelings for him.
It wasn't possible. Kaz's feelings for you were hardly possible, so yours would be even less. And you'd deserve someone better than him anyway.
Kaz tried to convince himself of this, but a little voice echoed at the back of his head.
What if they do like you back?
He stared at your door for a moment longer before finally bringing himself to knock.
A groan was heard and then your groggy voice, "Coming..."
The door opened and Kaz's heart started to beat faster the moment he saw you. You squinted your eyes at the light and when you recognised him, your expression immediately transformed into a scowl.
"What do you want?" you snapped, your hands on your hips and your hair messy from sleep.
Kaz opened his mouth but then shut it again. You were angry, he was sorry but he didn't know how to word it. He sighed.
"I thought we should talk this through," he finally said, taking a step forward.
You didn't say anything and just stared at him for a moment. "Oh, mighty Dirtyhands wants to talk now."
Kaz groaned and was quiet for a moment. "I owe you... an apology."
"I don't want to hear it," you said and attempted to slam the door shut, but Kaz got his cane between it and pushed himself inside to your room.
"We need to talk," Kaz said, moving his cane into your way again. "And I won't leave until we do."
"Stop that," you snapped.
"Why?"
"Because I'm trying to be mad at you."
Kaz bit back a smile at that. "If you want to be mad at me, you need to have a proper reason for it."
You huffed and crossed your arms. "Fine, then talk."
Kaz sighed and laid his gaze on his hands gripping the cane. "What I said last night was needless and inconsiderate. I..." He clenched his jaw and cast his eyes downwards for a moment, and then met your eyes again and continued. "I apologise for it."
He glanced up at you, expecting to still see your anger, but instead, your expression was confused.
"Well, I wasn't expecting that."
Kaz smirked at your confusion. "I know how to be an asshole, but I'm trying to be a good boss, too."
You chuckled. "I've gotten used to you being an asshole even when I know you care about me- care about us, I mean, so... it's weird to hear you apologise."
Kaz huffed with a small smile, his heart thudding. He smiled at you, and you were smiling too, and he felt his heart jump at that.
"Have you slept at all last night?" you asked him.
Kaz shook his head. "No. I had work."
You sighed and rolled your eyes. "Work can wait, you go have a nap right now."
You opened the door for him, and you began ascending the stairs together. Kaz smirked at your order. "And if I won't?"
You laughed. "I'll knock you out and drag you to bed. Your call."

Just a pawn
Kaz Brekker x fem!reader
Notes: kinda wanna make a part two..but maybe I just will leave it here.
Warning: Angst, heartbreak, no comfort, short, cursing, I wanna hug the reader.
This was exactly what you signed yourself up for, you tried to stop it. Telling yourself to bury the feeling deep down so you couldn’t get hurt, you hated feeling weak and this was exactly what you expected. You knew he would crush your heart, that you would wait for the end of time for him, just for him to feeling anything…
Anything other then anger.
“Don’t you walk away from me!” He shouted from behind you as your back was turned. You bit the inside of your cheek ready to cry and scream in anger. Spinning yourself you glare at him, his face dirty and sweat dripping and he looked as miserable as always. “Or what, Brekker?” You stepped closer, never letting your anger slip.
“Because we both know you can’t afford to let me go, who else would you have to throw in harms way? Inej, oh not your wraith. Jesper? Not him, your charming shooter. Nina, wylan, Matthias? Because for fuck sake he risk anyone he doesn’t care about!” You shouted as loud as you could, actually hoping everyone could hear you in ketterdam.
“Don’t you shout at me, this wasn’t my fault. We got the job done so stop yelling like this.” He groaned out. You laughed and put on a smile, “Oh thank the saints! We got the job done, so glad my almost death was worth it.” You cheered while putting your hands up.
Kaz looked at you with a glare and stood up straight not having the slightest bit of amusement from you. “For fuck sake, I had a plan. Yes you almost died but that happens on jobs like these. You came to me remember? You signed yourself up for this.”
You sighed yourself up for everything.
“No, I did not. If jesper wouldn’t have acted fast I would have fell from the building, nothing under me or could stop me from hitting the ground. I knew i could die on these jobs,” you went quieter and your eyes become heavy and flickering with tears, “what I didn’t know is that I would be used as a target to just toss around. Each time it’s always me who almost dies and you tell me to do it.”
He glare softens and his jaw unclenches it self. “I don’t toss you for you to die. You know that.” But did you? Did he ever give you a reason to believe that? “I actually don’t, kaz. I know nothing of what you feel or care about other then yourself.” The words cutting him like a knife. She wasn’t yelling or shouting but speaking to him in such a hurt tone.
“I know you know how I feel about you, kaz. I tried to hide it but it was just too hard, and I thought when you looked back at me- That you felt the same way I did.” You laughed and wiped the tears rolling down your face, “Funny huh? It was pathetic of me to believe that. Because you never could care for me like I want you to, you can’t even treat me like something other then a pawn.”
He couldn’t say anything, couldn’t do anything as she broke in front of him. She didn’t know that it was her he cared about the most and it scare him how deep his feelings went. He pushed her away each time to not let the feeling take over, always yelling at her or moving her around. And it killed him to know he could never pull her close and touch her skin.
“Nothing to say? Fine, I’ll talk for the both of us. I’m leaving and when I come back we will forget this ever happen. You wouldn’t speak to me other then on a job, no glances from across the room. Nothing but acquaintances.” Speaking clearly with her mind made up.
Kax watched her walk away to the door and all he wanted to do was go after her and make her stay with him, tell her just how much he cares for her. But she could never know, he could never give her what she deserves. He stepped closer and his body moving on its own, but he forced himself still. You turned around and looked at him half way out the door, a sad smile on your lips and glossy eyes.
“Goodbye, kaz.” And then he lost sight of you and his heart shattered. He knew this was your way of saying goodbye to the way it was between the two of you. It was never going to be the same, a goodbye to him as yourself. He huffed and turned around to clear his deck of everything on it in anger. He shouted and slammed his hands on the table knowing it could very well be goodbye forever.
“You never were a pawn.” He sighed to himself like he was talking to your ghost. Everything he wanted to say.

Obviously, we know that Inej knows Kaz best but really, even she doesn't know him - or at least, doesn't understand many parts to him.
"He just lets go" about a boy who has never let anything go. Who, since he was nine years old, has been unhealthily obsessed with Pekka and taking him down. Who was still obsessed with this revenge eight years later. Who hears his dead brother's voice in his head - cruelly egging him on on this maddened quest for vengeance. Who remembered every single last detail of the Hertzoon con; who killed eveyone involved.
People criticise this line, and rightfully because it's plain wrong, but it goes to show how isolated Kaz is and that even with the person he trusts most, he still holds many cards close to his chest. He still hasn't shed his armour completely - not even with Inej.
Inej also doesn't understand Kaz's language. She knows the signals he has established with her for moves and attacks but, funnily enough, it's only ever Matthias that truly reads Kaz (understanding his micro expressions and how he cares about Inej). She understands that she is trusted because he takes off his gloves - but even then doesn't seem to understand the extent; Kaz strips in front of her, as a show of trust - that he's willing to expose himself to her, but she doesn't understand that this is what he is trying to convey. I highly doubt this is a way of wooing Inej. At least, that that was the main reason. He was being vulnerable with her, showing his underbelly.
Kaz cannot say he cares, but he also can't seem to show it either - not in a conventional way, anyway. He carries Inej to the Ferolind despite it causing him pain, he yanks out the eye of the man who stabbed her. He says "I protect my investments." And that sounds completely dickish, but Kaz doesn't show appreciation. Ever. Inej doesn't understand that "I protect my investments" means "I want to look after you because you mean a lot to me" because that's what it means!!! In Kaz's language. "Protect" -> Look after, take care of, defend. "Investments" -> Very important to him, more valuable over time (liking her more and more as times goes on). "I protect my investments" isn't the stupid, asshole line Nina and a lot of people read it as. It's Kaz's kinda mean, not betraying how much it means to him, round about way of showing he cares. He won't say it outright because living in the Barrel has taught him that that is dangerous.
This is shown again when he says "I would come for you. And if I couldn't walk I'd crawl to you. And no matter how broken we were, we'd fight our way out, knives drawn, pistols blazing, because that's what we do, we never stop fighting." He can't say a simple "I care about you." but he can say all that. Why? Because he ties his care to violence. Protection. Causing harm to defend Inej. (Strooooong dog motifs for Kaz btw - the people of the Barrel were spot on with the rabid dog nickname)
And it links to how all the characters are always saying "ohh he's so mysterious, I don't know anything about him, where he came from, or what his motives are" when Kaz is literally openly saying everything.
He doesn't not speak of his trauma or his feelings! He talks about them all the time! He just isnt straightforward.
"Barrel boys don't have parents, they're born in the harbours and crawl out of the canals."
"My mother is Ketterdam, she birthed me in the harbour."
He's literally talking about being "dead" (thrown on the Reaper's Barge), how that affected him (traumatised him so bad he feels like he is no longer the same boy, that he was reborn as something else - a monster), about having to crawl out of the harbour, wet and weak from fever. He openly admits he's an orphan. He talks about it! Just in a cryptic way. A way no one understands.
It's like he's crying out, with people not far, but no one hears him. Like he's still on the Barge, making a futile attempt to cry out "I'm still alive." The Barge still has that hold on him. It's a manifestation of the trauma. It's the same way the flashbacks taking him back to that miserable night. A prison that he can't seem to ever be free from.
When he tells Inej "Tell Jesper he's missed around the Slat." he's doing it again, just more blatantly and more obvious, so that she picks up on it this time. He's showing her his language! Telling her to read into what he is saying! He's saying that he misses Jesper in his detached, cryptic way.
And this is so important with everything Kaz says. Reading between the lines - that's how you start to understand him. We get a cheat sheet by seeing his internal thoughts, but his dramatic talk is the olive branch for outsiders.
When Inej is asking him to open up, she isn't asking that he should share his problems and vulnerabilities like she believes she is saying. She's asking him to be more direct. And that's the difficult part for Kaz.

COFF-IN ITS ME AGAIN DEVIOUS ANON IS JUMPING BACK INTO THE GRAVE :D I missed you and I come offering new food (mostly bc I thirst for Andrew lord help me)
Childhood friend reader who is basically a third sibling (maybe even the oldest) to the Graves siblings! She's a literal girl-next-door, about 2 when Andrew was born, and due to being in the same neighborhood/Reader and her parents being relatively sociable, Andrew and reader were kinda mashed together from a young age and just told to play. Maybe Mrs. Graves dumped Andrew off at reader's house often bc she didn't want to handle him and hey, since he gets along so well with the neighbor's daughter, may as well use them like free babysitters. Reader is super sweet to Andy from early on and takes care of him like an older sister would. When Ashley joins the team, even better! It's not just his baby sister, it's *their* baby sister. Reader ends up being their closest and basically only friend through childhood and middle school and just about calls Andrew/Ashley her siblings-in-honor. Hell, her parents are probably more parental to Andrew/Ashley than their actual parents. I just think this is fun because I think this is a dynamic where I can potentially see Andrew floundering about in the friendzone/siblingzone because reader kinda considers him her brother and not a dating option but he wants to date her and seeing her find other guys drives him up the wall. Man probably casually walks reader around school to class and keeps his fingers in her belt loops and glares at any guy within a 20 ft radius when reader isn't looking. This is also one dynamic where I can potentially see Ashley *encouraging* Andrew to date a girl, because she wants them to be reader's priority just like in childhood and that won't work out if she gets a man, so if Andrew can snag her, she'll never leave them. This can be fluffy, but I can also see this going darker if Andrew and Ashley after escaping quarantine kind of show up at the reader's door and she's so happy to see them until she realizes that her childhood friends kinda...yk, are cannibals and murderers and will be going after their parents soon (assuming they didn't tell her about Nina). It's a reasonable reaction, but also they're like "...so you still love us, right?" and if reader hesitates even a second, she's kinda taken hostage in her own house. They wouldn't hurt her, they just...well, she looked like she was thinking about leaving, you know? The dynamic skews so toxic because they would absolutely guilt-trip the hell out of her and tell her that she's their last hope of continuing on and is she really going to condemn her siblings-in-honor/maybe boyfriend and sister-in-law to death?
notes from coff-in: DEVIOUS ANON I MISSED YOU!!! i hope you've been doing well and good :3 i'm so happy and honored that you missed me (i'm honored whenever anyone here gives me praise tbh). i also understand your need for andrew, haha! i'll let you in on a thought of mine: i've been thinking of a (relatively) normal younger sister/twin sister that seems to look up to ashley than andrew because ashley's a girl like [reader], so she's able to help her with girl issues like periods, bra/underwear shopping, soothing her mommy issues, etc and andrew is a bit jealous that baby sis likes or hangs out with ashley more than him but he's also embarrassed about this jealousy because he knows (subconsciously or consciously) that it stems from a want to be the person baby sis relies on more... but that's just an idea for later :3 welcome back to the coffin, devious anon, we're happy to have you here!
[fem] reader-insert, pseudo-incest
teehee :3 andrew's in love :3 he loves [reader] :3 he loves you :3 andrew loves you sooo much :3 he wants to kiss you so badly :3 andrew thinks about you every time he jerks his di--
sorry i had to get that out of me... know that renee graves (or should i keep calling her mrs graves??) would take the chance to dump andy onto [reader]'s family. she would STILL have the AUDACITY to say "oh raising you was so easy, i thought i could handle another one..." knowing damn well that it was a DIFFERENT FAMILY raising andrew. to be "fair", renee is 15 years old when she had andrew, she's bound to make dipshit decisions and take them for granted (like how tf do you ask your "disappointment" son for money then call him a freeloader, like what???)
i think being raised by [reader]'s family would highlight the abuse andrew and ashley face even more to them. also having [reader]'s family raise andy as one of their own children next to [reader] just barely manages to fulfill that taboo aspect of their relationship, you know? it's wonderful! like yeah, they're from two different families but andy sometimes slips and and refers to [reader] as his big sis (ashley does it on purpose) and when they take care of leyley, andy can't help but to think how leyley is their baby sister and they're like... mommy and daddy, you know?
i honestly can't really add more to this, the meal you cooked. THE MEAL YOU HAVE BLESSED US WITH, DEVIOUS ANON!!! IT'S SUPERB, IT'S DIVINE!! i'm riding your meat right now, get over here
ashley is doing that thing where she whispers in andrew's ear while he sleeps "you want to date [reader]. you want to keep here forever. you want her to never leave us." she's so silly, i love her. it would be so fucking sweet to if [reader] also saw andrew and ashley as her siblings also. ashley is being neglected/left out by her friends and [reader]'s like "hey guys, we should let ashley have a turn" or "hey ashley, do you have anything to add to the conversation?" and ashley's just, AUGH SHE'S SO SHOCKED, and like... i'm holding her gently in my hands i love her (THEY SHOULD KISS!!! RIGHT NOW!!!)
and the darker route... teehee :3c like... how would she ever find out? for all she should know, her psuedo-sibs/friends have returned from their awful quarantine and wanted to come over to say hi and stay with her for a bit! yippee!! but also the angst is so yummy, having [reader] tied in the back of their stolen car when they go to the new graves' residence and [reader] really thinking "do i turn them in? what if they come back to hurt me? would they hurt me either way?? maybe this is their last murder... yeah! they're just going to kill their parents and then everything will go back to normal!" poor poor [reader]... nothing is going to be normal again... AAAH HEHEHEHEH >:3c
thank you thank you thank you!

"What are they like?" - General Resident Headcanons
PART 3
last part on how I think the residents would act in the mansion ←(*꒪ヮ꒪*)
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SUPPORT ON MY PREVIOUS POSTS 😭
As always, this is creepypasta content - expect MATURE CONTENT (swearing, talks of trauma, murder, etc!)
Clockwork
THIS GIRL. If you read the other parts of this series carefully, you would know that Clockwork has been compared a lot with other residents like Jeff. To put it simply, Clockwork is pretty much like the Joker rip-off of the mansion except she's way bolder.
Clockwork is not afraid to say what's in her mind, and doesn't care if she's committing insubordination towards the proxies. She also doesn't stand down easily- she'll continue to put up a fight literally and figuratively.
She's the only woman in the mansion who's constantly brawling with the other residents. Clockwork gets riled up easily- this causes her to in some cases act brashly. She's always ready to swing first to be honest.
Very loud and vulgar. Clockwork swears a lot to the point every sentence she says has to at least have one curse word. Is also the type to not hold back when it comes to insulting people. If Clockwork likes you, she'll be merciful, but if it's someone she despises- she'll use their insecurities or something sensitive about them and use that to insult them.
She's surprisingly not in bad terms with anyone in the mansion. Clockwork doesn't hold grudges, she may seem immature but she has a brain and knows how to use it well. Because of this, she knows that it's smart to make her housemates as long-term enemies.
She considers Jane as a close ally. She doesn't like using the term friend a lot mainly because she's worried about regretting her words. Do not expect her to be all buddy-buddy with any of the male residents. She doesn't care if any of them went through the same shit as her, she will never give her trust to any man.
Clockwork doesn't hang out with Kate or Nina. Kate is too much of a stuck-up, while she just hates Nina's vibe. Clockwork likes hanging out with Jane since she's the only one who can talk some sense into her. Jane is the only resident in the mansion for whom, I guess, Clockwork has a soft spot. If you look at it in a specific way, Clockwork is a bit like a dog for Jane. Not in a bad way, but for some reason, that's how I view their dynamic.
She's a strong woman. Clockwork is the strongest of all female residents, followed by Jane. She has more upper-body strength than strength in her lower body. She's still a fast runner though.
She's not as feminine as Nina or Jane but also isn't as masculine as Masky or Hoodie. Clockwork is right in the middle. Her hair is messily chopped and is about shoulder length maybe even longer by a bit. She doesn't care about the type of clothes she wears. Just give her a shirt and pants that fit her, and she'll be alright.
Homicidal Liu (and Sully)
Out of all of Liu's alters/alternate identities, Sully is the one who fronts the most. Sully only comes out when the host (Liu) is experiencing a strong emotion or when his trauma about his family mainly his brother is being brought up. Sully fronts during these situations because he thinks Liu will get soft thus making him very vulnerable. On some occasions, Sully will front when his host is on some missions, specifically when the targets are families who knows too much about the mansion.
When Liu is the one doing the killing, he will always stop by at an abandoned church that's not too far away from the mansion. He won't say a prayer, he will just sit on one of the pews, staring endlessly into space while holding a broken rosary.
He still has some humanity in him probably the most out of all of the residents tbh. Liu will only present himself as friendly to people who are obviously not threats. However, he can be intimidating when he's with people who are obviously annoying.
He's fairly close with Nina and Kage, maybe Jane too. After seeing both the impact and damage his brother left on Nina, he was the one who picked her up and made her stronger. Liu sees Nina as a younger sister, the little sis he didn't have growing up no offense to Jeff. Liu bonds with Kage like he's with a kid, like a fun student and teacher bond except Liu isn't teaching shit to Kage. Basically Liu tried to guide the demon to the right path? However he just accepts that Kage enjoys hanging out with Sully more. Liu tries to be on friendly terms with Jane but Sully tries to break it off between the two of them. Sully knows that there's something off with Jane and to protect his host, Sully will make it obvious to Jane that he does not like her.
Although he knows that everything won't be the same as they used to, Liu is still trying to connect with his brother Jeff. Whether it's passing by him, or when he's partnered with him on missions- he will try to make some kind of small talk with his younger brother, to which Jeff shuts down by either ignoring him or by being rudely aggressive.
He's one of the few members of the mansion that actually has some respect for the proxies. Ever since he was a kid, he has always followed the rules and tried to maintain his title of being the "good kid". That phase didn't wear out by the time he became a man and now a slave for doing a faceless creature's dirty work.
Liu is not someone to be messed with. He's not stupid when someone is obviously using him, when he does pick up the signs- he will not hesitate to snap and cut that person off. Sully will sometimes come out during situations like these but he knows that Liu has it covered to an extent.
He spends most of his time either chatting with the residents he's close with or reading a book. Sometimes he'll get tired of socializing and would usually take the time being by himself and indulging in things he likes.
Jane the Killer
I'm gonna give it to you straight, she only cares about herself. Don't get me wrong- she is not a cold-shouldered bitch but if the mansion is about to explode and the Slenderman finally has his back turned on the residents, Jane won't hesitate to run away first.
Jane is the one who has the most secrets and knows the most about the stuff happening in the mansion besides BEN and Kagekao. She actually does a good job in hiding them but pretty much every resident knows that she hides the most.
Jane is probably the most mentally-healthy person in the mansion, and it has something to do with the fact she's a realist. She is aware of the choices she has made and fully regrets going to the mansion in the first place. Jane also fully accepts that she can no longer become a part of society and be normal.
She still hates Jeff. In Jane's eyes, Jeff is still the monster responsible for her transformation and has no plans in forgiving him. She has plans on getting her revenge on him but she's just waiting for the right moment to do so.
Most residents see her as a good friend since she's the type to give good words of wisdom when needed, while others see her as someone who can't be trusted. Like I said, Jane has her secrets and she knows some of the stuff about the other residents, and it's not just basic information like hospital files.
Jane is well-respected. She doesn't disobey orders given by the proxies tho she finds loopholes to some of them, she's not a "punch first, ask later" kind of person either, and she contributes the most to the table even as a resident- always giving her input on serious matters and stuff.
One of the smarter residents too. Not in terms of book smart but street smart. She's very crafty and knows a trick or two about the new world she now lives in.
She doesn't have any enemies besides Jeff. As much as possible, Jane tries to be in neutral terms with everyone in the mansion mainly because she thinks her allies will be useful in the future.
Jane only has close bonds with Clockwork. Ever since they met, they kinda just matched each other's vibe, and no Jane does not spill on the info when she's with Clockwork. Every time Clockwork tries to ask Jane something about the residents and/or the mansion, Jane will always brush it off.
The Bloody Painter
Helen has no interest in anything happening around the mansion. He mostly keeps to himself for two reasons: one, he prefers spending his time on himself doing art, and two, he really has no interest in any of the events happening in the mansion. Fights happening in the hallway? He'll ignore the things being thrown and the yelling. A resident getting scolded by a proxy for not doing their part in the household chores? He will simply walk past them.
He likes doing things in a specific way. Helen has his own definition of what's organized and whats disorganized, you'll see his overwhelming amounts of art supplies all cluttered up on one side of his room and somehow, he will always know where certain materials are. Helen doesn't like seeing his place too clean, mainly because he starts to panic when he doesn't see his things in their usual areas.
He keeps to himself almost all of the time. Helen simply prefers being by himself most of the time, and pretty much all of the residents acknowledge this and respect his space. Some residents will be assholes though and will start shit with Helen. Keep it mind that this artist won't go down without a fight.
Even though he's mostly alone, he does have some bonds with the other members of the mansion. Particularly Jane. She enjoys Helen's talent in art and would often talk about it whenever they have the time to do so. Sometimes they'll about things over tea or when the two have free time, taking strolls around the mansion. Both Jane and Helen enjoy listening to each other's rants about certain topics, but it's mostly about art. If anything, they try to avoid dark topics like death and murder.
Although he's known to be the quiet art dude, Helen is still a killer. Pretty much everyone knows to never mess around with the quiet residents like EJ and Hoodie and Helen is no exception. Jeff learned it the hard way after starting shit with him, he got some stitches after Helen did a number on him.
Helen is considered to be one of the physically weaker residents of the mansion with BEN taking first place. Sure he can kill a family of 4, but he's no match for residents like Hoodie, Liu or even Cody- if he does end up fighting them, he's most likely gonna surrender mid-fight.
If he's not rotting in his room, making art, or having tea time with Jane- then he's out finding a specific material for one of his peculiar artworks. Blood. Mind you that Helen doesn't just get blood from random people like those from missions he was assigned to do. He only gets the blood and maybe the corpse of his muses from people he deemed beautiful by his standards.
He has a lengthy process of killing his victims for his art. First it starts with finding his muse, maybe places like the library or cafes that are located in the less populated areas of the city- then he stalks them. After stalking them for about a week or two, that's when he strikes. He'll first take about 2 large jars of blood and maybe some pictures of his Muse's corpse as a reference for his next work.
Nina the Killer
Almost every member of the mansion would put her under the nickname of "Jeff's fangirl" which WAS true, but after getting herself into the hellhole mansion, she wishes she never had an obsession over the joker rip-off of the mansion. She learned it the hard way through rejection and realizing how terrible her situation is of now being a puppet for doing a faceless being's bidding. Although her Jeff obsession is now gone, she's still, in a way, delusional- thinking she can go back to being normal and you know, be accepted.
Once you get to know her, she's a very nice person despite the killing. Nina is not the type to judge people at all since she knows what it's like to be overlooked or to be written off.
She doesn't express a lot of positive emotions when she's around most of the residents. She'll only show how excited or how happy she is when she's with people she can comfortably express her true feelings mainly because she's scared of people calling her annoying for doing so, which happened before.
Nina would spend most of her time in her room, mostly just doing things to entertain herself like watching movies, listening to music, trying out different fashion styles, etc. She'll only leave her room to get food, when there's a meeting, or when she's assigned to do a mission by the proxies.
Unfortunately, she's not very close with any of the female residents in the mansion. Clockwork finds her annoying with her presence alone while Kate has no plans in socializing with her. Jane is a bit difficult to decipher. She doesn't have it out for Nina not anymore but she still hates her for her stupidity of dragging herself into the mansion.
Nina doesn't trust most of the men in the mansion. Kagekao bullies her and calls her Jeff's bitch, both Masky and Hoodie scare her, She avoids Toby, while Helen doesn't care for her. Pretty much Ej and Liu are the safest in her book. Although he doesn't view Nina as a close friend, he appreciates her for her kindness and polite nature he respects her bc of that. Cody likes Nina because whenever he needs someone to talk to about his experiments, she's there to listen to him. Liu on the other hand, he feels like it's his responsibility to clean up the damage his brother caused. Although Nina's Jeff obsession was all on her, Liu still feels responsible because it's his brother.
Jeff is an interesting case. Before He met Nina, he knew her as a fangirl who stood out because she was on the loose for killing people like him. After she came to the mansion as a newbie, Jeff was... Scared to meet her? Idk how to say it but he avoided meeting Nina during her first few days in the mansion but he was still very curious about her. Was she crazy? Was she a bitch? Did she do it because she was bored? Was she like Harley Quinn? Nonetheless, by the time he ran into her through one of the mansion's hallways, he only felt her stare at him while passing by but looked back at her when she was walking away. He stood back staring at her figure until she turned a corner, disappearing from his eyes.
After getting over her obsession with Jeff, she really hates him now. I would imagine her being angry at him very much- totally blaming him for being a slave for the Slenderman and killing all of those victims even before she became a resident.
When she's with people she likes, she'll start acting like one of those weird kids? The type of kids who would geek out on cartoons or any kind of interest? Imagine Maya and Anna from Pen15. She enjoys talking about her likes and dislikes to anyone who's willing to listen, like Cody and Liu.
Believe it or not, Nina likes to help around the infirmary. She wanted to be a nurse growing up and when Liu taught her the ropes for basic First aid, she basically volunteered to help Ej as an unofficial nurse. She'll only do it in desperate times though, Nina's confidence in giving medical help will go down once she sees residents like Clockwork, Kagekao, any of the proxies. Helping Jeff is out of the question.
I'm really trying to do my best to have a consistent posting schedule, but school is really eating me alive rn 😭😭😭
But it's fine now that I'm on Christmas break! 🎉‼️ Thank you all so much for the hearts and reposts, it really means a lot to someone like me who's lowkey insecure about their writing 🥹💕
I struggled a lot writing this last part bc I'm constantly getting blanks for the Bloody Painter hcs, and almost every time I write about 3-4 bullet points about Helen, they're not being saved 💔💔💔 I'm trying my best to rewrite them but everytime it happens I just give up (I feel so bad for one particular moot bc they really enjoy Helen and was looking forward to the stuff I write about him :'<)
This is the reason why Helen has like 6-7 bullets tbh....
BUT ANYWAYS- this series is done! I'm trying to think of a different series I wanna do next? Maybe more stuff about the residents, maybe their bonds with the different residents? Who knowwwsss, I might write something eventually BUT BE PREPARED FOR LONG UPDATES
Again very sorry for making y'all wait! I'm really doing my best and thank you all so much for the love and support💕💕💕 Consider this as a Christmas present LMAOO 🤩

one thing that gets me about this devlog is how now knowing that Andrew was explicitly told and shown the voicemails, how much weirder it is that he never brought it up to Ashley only bc of the fact that she alludes to knowing how Nina dies and she tells Julia to ask her what happened and that she’d be surprised and how this ties into her being the only one who understands Andrew 😭😭😭 esp since Andrew is extremely paranoid I don’t get why he wouldn’t tell Ashley to knock it off, it’s possible that this is so he doesn’t have to take the blame for it (him telling Ashley off would imply that he believes he can control the situation and so it’s his fault or whtvr) though it’s possible that he may have freaked out the first time hearing the voicemails, and then realized that Julia doesn’t GAF about anything but the death threats and incest, what are your thoughts?
YOU’RE SO RIGHT!!!
i agree with you!!!! i think it’s really surprising that as far as we know, andrew didn’t do anything about ashley basically telling on herself (and him)!! especially considering how desperately he tried to keep it buried when they were younger (enough for a blood pact!), it seems weird and uncharacteristic of him to just… let it slide? andrew’s way too paranoid and observant to have not noticed ashley taunting julia about it, so what the hell???
in the devlog, we see him deflecting and reframing the situation to blame julia, so maybe he’s used the same “reasoning” before: whoever this is, she’s trying to get under julia’s skin, so she’s saying shit that will upset julia and make her question her relationship. it’s not ashley, ashley would never say these things, but whoever this is is pretending to know about nina, just like she’s pretending to be andrew’s sister. of course, the audience knows better, and andrew definitely knows better, but maybe he calls attention to the things involving him, his reputation and their relationship, instead of the murder “mystery.” it’s a small town (probably), and nina’s picture was on the milk cartons, so it’s not a stretch for him to pretend that this stranger at their city’s college heard something about the weird circumstances surrounding nina’s disappearance and following death
the only time we know that andrew brings the voicemails up to ashley up is when julia breaks up with him in episode one, and even then, they don’t really talk about it. he makes it clear he knows, she pretends she doesn’t know, and then he goes to smoke about it and she goes back to sleep. the end! i really do hope we get to more of ashley and andrew and the voicemails, and i think we’ll get at least a little bit more because of how often it’s been brought up in the story. it’s an Important Plot Thing going on between andrew and julia of the past!!! it’s possible that he did bring it up to ashley in a scene or two we haven’t seen yet, but maybe only to tell her not to talk about nina. “remember the blood pact, ashley? i’ll stay with you as long as you keep your mouth shut” (even though we know he’ll stay with her anyway). he feels secure knowing that julia won’t come between him and ashley (because he won’t let her), but going to jail will absolutely come between the two of them
it’s implied that he did freak out about the voicemails at first, and i think it’s possible that he might’ve assumed that ashley would spill their secret before he assumed she would say that he’d rather be fucking her. i struggle to tell when something andrew says is true, something he believes, something he wants to believe, and shit he’s just saying so that he doesn’t face any consequences, so i’m really just guessing, but you saying he realized that julia cares more about the incest than the mysterious circumstances surrounding nina’s death makes a lot of sense to me!! if she never brought it up, he definitely never brought it up, and julia might be too nervous to broach such a heavy topic with him
maybe that was part of what julia wanted to talk to him about at the end of the episode 3 teaser…

Jason The Toymaker Headcanons
The grind never stops fr fr. Sorry for disappearing I had summer classes and then a certain triangle demon from a kid’s show is took up most of my attention and creativity, and now I’m in regular classes and silly goofy video games have taken up my attention and creativity when I’m not slaving over my art projects for school. Teehee. Oops!
Jason has been another underrated character in this fandom imo, and I especially love love love LOVE characters who just get so obsessed with shit. I can’t remember if it was canon or fanon about him, but I love the fact he gets so possessive of his friends to the point where he kills the competition. And also the friend. Because the best friend to have is one you have complete control over, right?
Anyways.
Cis man? WRONG.
Like you’re gonna look at Jason and tell me that motherfucker has only ever used he/him pronouns? Bro is an eccentric Toymaker ffs
Jason uses any pronouns. Even the ones that don’t exist. Bro collects that shit like Pokemon cards
Hey remember LJ? Yeah Jason made him
I mean hello??? Sentient toy clown? That’s right up Jason’s alley
Jason has also made other clown characters, like Candy Pop
Jason is also one of the few inhabitants that straight up doesn’t need to eat food. Ever
Much like Nina, no one’s really sure what he is, they just know its immortal like everyone else and insanely hard to kill
Most people also avoid them or go out of their way to not get emotionally close to him for super obvious reasons
Like. They’ve all seen her workshop. Every week he comes back with a new human he’s lied to and whisked off their feet with some bullshit fantasy and within the next few days they’ve made a doll of the poor guy
Jason technically isn’t even allowed to do that, humans aren’t allowed to know of the existence of the manor or Slenderman or literally anything that goes on there, but does Jason care? Absolutely not
Slenderman tried getting on her ass about it once, and by some miracle Jason was able to talk themselves out of punishment
Besides making morbid people dolls, Jason of course also makes random other toys. Almost all of them are sentient or are able to think and comprehend speech
Jason uses Mr. Glutton (the snake) as not only a chair, but a garbage disposal as well. Need to get rid of body parts? Give to the snake. It’s like a black hole in there
So y’know how Anne and Eyeless Jack are the go-to doctors of the residency? Jason is the fix it guy for anything that’s not biological
Torn clothing? Jason can sew it up for ya
Gun/chainsaw/mechanical weapon is jammed? Jason has a fix for it
Broken trinket from your room? Jason somehow has already made an exact copy of it for this specific occasion
You could count on one hand the things Jason doesn’t know how to fix
And still despite being the repairperson no one usually sticks around long enough to chat
You’d think with how delusionally clingy this mf is that it would be a problem but surprisingly no
There’s a reason why xe specifically only targets humans
Like? Humans as a species are so easy to manipulate? And are leagues more fun to torture and scare than her fellow serial killer roommates
Similarly to how the others make bets on what weird item Helen can use as a murder weapon, they also make bets on how fast Jason’s next victim gets dollified
So far the record is a single day because somehow one girl had the balls to pull an 80s horror protagonist and stabbed Jason with their own fabric shears
She didn’t get far. Obviously. What’d you expect from an entire mansion crawling with murderous entities. LJ accidentally clotheslined the girl while reaching between doorways for something
Everyone on the third floor then got to bear witness to Jason dragging her back to his workshop by her ankles. Using the same fabric shears. The carpet is still stained from how much she bled. I’m pretty sure one of her fingernails is still lodged in the wall, too
While they don’t share a studio/workshop, Jason and Helen often use a lot of the same crafting materials. They have a mutual relationship where if one of them goes out, they return with something both of them ran out of recently
Beyond that they literally never speak to each other, and they both like it that way
Jason is way too eccentric for Helen to be able to stomach for longer than an hour, and Helen is too particular with so many different things that it gets on Jason’s nerves
One of the few people that does stick around Jason often is Ann
Obviously there’s the underlying factor that Ann literally owes her current life to Jason, but even outside of that stipulation, Ann finds them pleasant to hang around
Unlike Jason’s other doll experiments and creations, Ann is the only one that came with sentience already attached. Saved Jason the hassle of having to create an entire consciousness network from scratch
Like damn, vengeance is one hell of a powerful force, enough so that once Ann was put back together by Jason, she was up and functioning practically immediately
The two aren’t inseparable per se, and definitely don’t see each other as anything more than friends (Ann moreso than Jason), but you can often find them in the same room interacting
Jason, like many of the others, adore Sally to an unnerving degree. It seems as if everyone, no matter how much they dislike kids or ghosts or humans or whatever else Sally counts as, feels a supernaturally strong urge to protect the kid. Jason is one of the few seen with her constantly
Yeah go figure the Toymaker likes to appease the child
But seriously it’s a little freaky how Sally has this effect on so many people. Someone should look into that
While it’s one of the most recent additions to the household, Jason is one of the oldest entities within the group.
Like hello bro was around in the late 1800s, Jason has peepaw bragging rights
With that comes the stipulation that Jason hates modern technology. The newest thing they own is a sewing machine from the 70s
I think it’s pretty obvious that because of his peepaw status, + the fact Jason thrives off unhealthy obsessive friendships, a lot of the younger residents hate her, and vice versa
Is friends/close with: Sally, Ann, Nina, and LJ
Is neutral about: Jane, EJ, Kagekao, Helen, and Slenderman
Doesn’t get along with/hates: BEN/Ben, Jeff, Clockwork, Puppeteer, Liu, Masky, and Hoody
Ben is practically the antithesis of Jason. Modern tech manipulator vs old fashioned old timey manipulator
If those two somehow end up in the same room it’s ON SIGHT
Nina and Jason are constantly bitching and gossiping about anything and everything under the sun. Somehow someone who’s besties with Jason’s rival is also besties with Jason. Nina is just that talented, apparently
Ofc they also bond over fashion. Who do you think makes most of Nina’s batshit insane wardrobe pieces?
Puppeteer annoys the hell out of Jason. That, and he keeps trying to steal and manipulate all the dolls Jason makes. Rude.
Jason is the only one allowed to destroy xer own work. If it catches you fucking with any of the dolls, thrown away or otherwise, you can kiss your existence goodbye because Jason will make it her life’s mission to see to it you never have peace again
Tries not to be in their true/corrupted form too often considering how rotted his arms get in that state. The skin flakes off and everything, and it’s really inconvenient when you’re trying to work on fine craftsmanship and your own rotten black flesh keeps falling into your paint or some shit
Not exactly the easiest thing to control though. The more emotionally volatile Jason is, the more likely you’re gonna see him at his worst

I just can't wrap my head around the narrative purpose of Nina. Her characterisation was lacking, she didn't leave any memorable impression I even forgot what she was about other than a leverage for Johan or a refuge in a way.
Her motives were not really mapped out well I feel like the author could've expanded on that more. It overall left a bad taste in my mouth.
What do you think?
About Nina;
I agree with you. I read a lot of Nina metas and i understand what she was supposed to symoblize (Nina; human, Tenma; God, Johan; Devil) but i think Tenma fits the role of human anyway and it doesnt work in Nina's case because she is not some random victim whom Johan killed her parents. She is her brother so her forgiving him at the end (especially when she already forgave other villains) doesnt work out as 'act of love'.
So the reason I think she isnt much memorable to you, thats because she is too similar to Tenma during the series.
They are good people who helps others
They investigate Johan separately but somehow at the same time.
They both project their inner monster on Johan so they think killing him will solve everything
Both use guns
Their interaction with Dieter is same
Everyone loves them
They are the only people Johan cares about and only people he lets them live Though Nina is different, her personality is more expressive and extrovert but this side of Nina is barely seen. Only at the beginning and ending. Tenma's character and ideals makes sense for his character because he is a doctor, also why he is obsessed with Johan but Nina as Johans sister, she couldve been different. More personal, more obsessive.
This is the problem with writing "good people". Her place in story is also mess and kinda replacable....yes, even though she is Johans sister. When i said replacable, i mean a lot of scenes were just there. Even if she wasnt there, nothing would change.
After not being able to meet her, Johan never go after her. He is more obsessed with Tenma, not Nina.
After escaping from her brother, she didnt need to meet Neonazis. Another character would stop the bomb and Tenma would see Johans writing anyway.
Her training from sugar man is just side character story, couldve been Tenma and same with meeting old cop. It couldve been Tenma who met the guy and nothing would change.
Even if Nina didnt come library, Tenma still wouldnt shot Johan. Her "dont shot him" scene with Nina has no build up and cringe. Johan didnt even interact with her at all in that scene and Nina also doesnt attempt to talk with her brother. She literally acts like random cop who suddenly appeared in the scene.
Other characters learnt "nameless monster" book, or 511 or the mansion etc on their own.
Nina remembering her flashbacks, or learning other book stories etc was important information only she knew but she never shared those informations with other characters. Its almost as its just written for audience to learn, to understand Johan.
Her interaction with Johan at broken house, that was meaningfull. That was only them after all but that scene didnt change anything for Johans plans. Johan was already remembering his memories and planning his suicide anyway. Only usefull information is that Nina found out Johan will kill himself but neither Nina and Tenma cared that information enough to do something different. Then at the end everyone find a way to find Franz's town.
At the end, another usefull and important flashback we get with Nina. Only Dr Gilleun heard this but its not like he did anything about it. Then Nina ran to Johan and told him she forgave him. Of course. Of course, it is important but its not impactfull (for audience) if Nina can forgave other characters. And once again, this doesnt stop Johan.
And no, Tenma wouldnt shot Johan even Nina didnt come. Even Nina didnt tell him to save Johan later, he would still save Johan. Literally any other character could say that.
And at the end, Nina lives her life again just a normal girl. Tenma is the one who is with Johan and his words 'You had a name' is what saves Johan at the end.
I am not saying she isnt important character. She is but as character, she didnt change things much, even though she shouldve as main heroine. She shouldve played more role that affects things around her, especially her interaction with Johan. But it didnt.
We could maybe say the same thing for Tenma or other characters but not really. There is already a certain role Tenma symbolize, humanity, saving lifes and most other characters are just side characters. But thats the thing. Nina isnt meant to be side character. She was supposed to be main heroine but even characters like Lunge and Eva, even they mess up or dont do much, they are still more memorable because their invidiuality shows itself. They affect the storyline in their own way.
I think we shouldve seen her inviduality more rather than her just going after on her own. I mean, on her own way, different than Tenma. Most importantly, i wish we shouldve seen her love for her brother, her family (Fortners) but her connection with them, our connection with people shows us who we are. Maybe she shouldve traveled with Tenma, then their connection would makes sense. And definitely we shouldve seen more about the her connection with Johan and her memories as Anna and after remembering, it does affect her so she shouldve done something to affect things around her as Nina, as heroine but none of these happenned.
So i understand why she can be forgotten because we dont see much of her really. And thats a shame. I wish she has done more, and more on her own way, more different than Tenma, more personal because its her brother but she acts like they are strangers so well. I think she isnt well written.

what are your personal headcanons for the pretty ladies? i don't see enough people requesting them 😭
🗒 ❛ General Headcanons ༉‧₊˚✧
Featuring: Kate The Chaser, Clockwork, Jane The Killer, Nina The Killer
#Notes: on god I love women
˗ˏˋ back to navigation ´ˎ˗
꒰⸝⸝₊⛓┊Kate The Chaser
She used to be in the track team while in highschool, which is why she's so fast now. Not mute, but basically non-verbal, so like Hoodie she communicates mostly through notes or ASL. When she does talk, her voice is very low and raspy, never above a whisper. Almost never spends any time in the manor, opting instead on sleeping in a tent in the woods around it, even though she has a perfectly good room waiting for her. Speaking of her room, it has basically no decoration or personality in it since she stepped inside of it like, 2 times since joining Slenderman.
Genuinely loves kids. Sally calls her "Aunt Kate" and it's just the cutest damn thing ever. Kinda wishes she could have some of her own, but given her environment that's pretty out of the question. Actually quite good friends with Hoodie and Toby, having a sibling relationship with both of them. Hoodie because she likes the fact he can't speak and they communicate in a similar way, plus he's just pleasant to be around, and Toby because she genuinely finds his shenanigans funny (even if she never laughs). However, doesn't like Masky one bit, and he's one of the main reasons why she works alone instead of with the other proxies. Also, super random, but she listens to Billie Eilish.
꒰⸝⸝₊⛓┊Clockwork
She has a buzzcut and I WILL fight anyone on this. Long hair gets in the way of her killing, also the hoes love bitches with short hair. She's a total womanizer, even though she's technically bisexual, women just hit different for her in general. Toby actually had a thing for her for the longest time and was pretty obvious about it, but in all honesty she finds him... Well, weird, so it was a hard no from her and now they kind of have this bad blood between them and avoid being in the same room together cause it just gets awkward. She loves drawing, mostly tradicional art with no colors, and hands it on her bedroom walls. They're covered head to toe in various different sketches.
Again, speaking of her room, it's the definition of those indie rooms you find on Pinterest. She loves plants as has like, 20 of them just laying around on shelves, windowsills and the floor. Also, she's not super into videogames, but she loves The Last Of Us and got Ellie's tattoo on her arm (y'know, the one with some plants and a moth). She has a guitar, but honestly spent more time decorating it with stickers and such than learning how to play.
꒰⸝⸝₊⛓┊Jane The Killer
My version of Jane is Jane Richardson, the one who was a government experiment, so she's one of the only creeps (if not the only one) who doesn't live in the manor or talks with any of the others. In fact, she hates almost all of them. Not as much as Jeff, but still. The only person she's okay with is Clockwork because they met before she even knew Natalie was a serial killer and found her flirting funny, so they're kind of friends now despite the probabilities. When she does bump into some of the other creeps, Masky avoids her like the plague (she scares him). She's a trad goth AND listens to the music, mostly Evanescence and Within Temptation.
Definitely knows how to play the piano. Personality speaking, she didn't change much after the tragedies happened - she's still the loving, caring person she was before, even if a bit more cynical. She believes in kindness and how it persists even in the worst of situations, and she's not about to let some emo bitch boy turn her bitter.
꒰⸝⸝₊⛓┊Nina The Killer
Has every nail polish color in existence and is the reason why most of the creeps nails are painted (yes, even Jeff. She did it while he was sleeping). Speaking of Jeff, they actually don't get along in a mutual sense. Sure, she was obsessed with him, but that was before meeting the sleazy fuck that he actually is and not the prince she fantasized about. She does, however, get along great with Toby, who's one of the only people who can match her energy and so they hang out all the time. She was also obsessed with true crime and generally any morbid media, like Death Note (Misa was her bisexual awakening). Also, definitely collects Monster High dolls.
As any alt kid, she loves fashion and customizing her own clothes. Has patch skirts and tie-dye shirts and everything in between. Absolutely a scene girl, her favorite bands are Mindless Self Indulgence and Get Scared. May or may not write weird fanfic in the notes app about the singers, who knows. She loves playing Stardew Valley and will go days on end without sleeping, trying to save up enough money to upgrade her barn.

*Of course * Crowley couldn’t bring himself to say the actual words “I love you” to Aziraphale. He had only just realised he was in love with him. Had the feelings been there for - well, who knows how long? Certainly not him. Centuries? Longer? Likely. And there were times they'd come close, certainly.
But *knowing* it was love, being told he was in love, that what he and Aziraphale had done to Nina and Maggie was all a way to smoke and mirrors their own feelings - that was entirely different. They weren't humans. He was a demon, ffs! He wasn't supposed to love - well, anything. He wasn't even supposed to have a heart - not in the human sense. But it was there, just the same.
He had felt - *something* - when he found out God was going to make a flood and kill children. He knew anger. And when Aziraphale would get close to him - or danger - or someone tried to hurt him or insulted him. But the two of them making him aware - well he never knew anger was a secondary emotion. It *wasn't* for demons - they lived on the stuff, among other things. And he had no need for psychology. Demons and angels didn't work the same way as humans.
Yet somehow, he had become more like them. Whether that was because he'd been around them so long, or because he wasn't like other demons in that he could imagine things. Whether he'd always been this way, even before he was a demon, but just didn't know it, or because of Aziraphale himself and spending so much time with him... He honestly didn't know.
What he did know is that when Maggie said he never said what he was really thinking, it him hard, like a human falling out of a window in a tall building. That when he saw Beezlebub and Gabriel he had felt jealous, because despite all his misgivings, all his fears - because he was afraid, of this, and of being rejected, of losing him - the one thing he wanted most in his secret of secrets, was to do the same with Aziraphale.
He'd wanted to for longer than he cared to admit. He'd tried before, to get the two of them to leave together, but he'd pretended it was for simpler reasons. But even knowing how he felt was easier than saying it out loud, especially to him. Not just because of how big it was, but because he was a demon. In love.
Not to mention the fact that Aziraphale interrupted him while he had had the courage. After his revelation, he tried to put it back, but faltered when he tried to tell him he wanted to spend his life with him. He tried to tell him without saying the words - he'd never said those words.
Before the other two, no demon or angel *had* ever said those things to someone and meant them in that way, especially to each other. And maybe if he hadn't been interrupted, he might have, he really wasn't sure. There was no way to know now, though. So he'd said it the best way he could, and he'd hoped Aziraphale would understand and say it to him. He was, as they said, the one who believed in magic. He'd seemed so happy for Gabriel and Beezlebub. Surely, he would be able to say it. But he underestimated the influence Heaven still had over him. He still believed in it. And it had ruined everything.
So he put his glasses on so that Aziraphale couldn't see his heartache. But he still couldn't say it. So he did the only thing left to do in a last ditch effort out of sheer desperation. He kissed him, hoping it would convey his feelings without using words.
And he felt him kiss him back. He felt his hands on his back, making him shiver because nobody had ever touched him that way before. He poured every feeling he'd suppressed for centuries into that kiss.
And then he felt him pull away and he let go.
For a moment, he thought it might have worked. He - *his* Angel - stuttered and, just for a second, Crowley thought he would say that he loved him. *Please, please, please*, his heart had begged in that moment.
Instead, he said "I forgive you.", and Crowley felt his heart shatter into a million pieces, worse than anything he'd felt before admitting to himself that he loved him. Clearly, he thought it was just a manipulation, just the demon trying to tempt him again. So he made a snarky comment and left. There was nothing else he could do.
Aziraphale would never see. He- and Heaven - had done too good a job of convincing him he wasn't good or kind. Even if Maggie and Nina were right and Aziraphale loved him too, he would never see him as anything other than a demon. He would've only loved him in spite of that fact, instead of seeing beyond it. Maybe he could a little, because he'd called Crowley kind many times, despite Crowley telling him he was wrong, but not enough.
And then he stood there, watching the person he loved walking away, forever, hoping that somehow he was wrong. That it wasn't too late, there was still time - any moment, his Angel was going to put the pieces together and realise he was being honest, that he loved him and they.... *Belonged together.*
But he didn't.
So he got in his car and started driving. He didn't know where or have a plan, but he knew he needed to go.

Freedom pt.2
Pt.1
Pairing: Crows x fem!reader
Summary: New life, new name, new family. This is what your life was going to be.
Masterlist
tag: @queenofshinigamis
Faking your death wasn't as easy nor painless as Kaz Brekker made it to seem, but you trusted him, and you just went along with the plan.
The plan was easy: they would drench you in water; put some make up on you and Nina would make your heart stop for enought time for the doctors to conclude you were dead and that nothing was to be done to bring you back and least but not last the Crows where to exhume you.
It took them longer than anticipated but at the end you were out and surrended by the Crows.
"Now the only think that I need is to become unrecognizable. A Tailor I need one." you were about to walk out the graveyard when Kaz stopped you.
"Where are you going like this? Here." he said trowing a hoodded cape at you. "follow me." you walked opposite to the Katterdam, Wylan started rambling about the pox and some other historical facts you, and maybe no one else, cared to know about. At least not in that moment.
Kaz made Jesper open up an entrance to some sort of chapel, you didn't care much, the only thing that matter was living your life feeling free and doing what you liked the most.
Sleep was not coming to you, but at least you weren't alone. The same went for Kaz. The man was in his little bubble thinking only the Saints knew what. You pondered if it was a good idea to strike a conversation with him. No, let the man alone, he is going through so much just for you, it was what your thoughts kept telling you.
"Can't sleep?" you nodded your head.
"I'm just not used to..." you looked at the ground. "sleeping on concrete. I never had to before." Kaz smiled, for just a brief second but you noticed. "Yes, yes I know what I told you, but just because I'm not used it doesn't mean I'm never going to get used to it."
"whatever makes you sleep at night, your highness" he joked, making you roll your eyes. "Jesper and Inej will miss you" he added, tone once again stoic as his usual. "I know is been just a month but they grew fond of you." a pause. "and so did I." he said not looking at you.
"Same goes for me, but we all knew today was coming. I can't stay in Katterdam any longer. If my father's..." he stopped you, asking you to not even think about it. You were dead now and he saw it, there was no reason for him to search for you.
"You can always say you are not her, if asked." you never thought Kaz Brekker would go an extra mile for someone he had meet just a month ago, but here he was, trying to figure out a way for you to stay.
"Kaz, I'm very sorry for everything that happened in this past month because of me, but you were my only hope to escape the hell that was home." you didn't mean to out your abusive father, but there you were. Telling him the secrets you were too scared to share with anyone, feeling finally free from all the horrors you had to endure for the simple facts that you were born a girl. "he is going to pay."
"Is not worth it. I think you saw him acting like a caring father, sad about his little girl that is now with the Saints." you kissed your thumb and bringing it to your forehead, eyes closed a pray wishpered in the dark. "he always hated the sight of me. I made him and myslef a favour, now I'm in debt with you Kaz Brekker, for saving me." another small smile adorned his features, this time it was on display much longer.
"Now try to sleep. You need it."
It was after a couple of days that Nina came back, followed by a girl. She was a Grisha, one that could help you escape Katterdam without drawing too much attention to you.
"A tailor. I found her at the market. Kaz I promised she is to be payed good for her services and her silence." Nina left the girl inside the little chapel and went back out.
"You are Pekka's daughter? I thought you were dead. The news is all over the walls of Katterdam." she said looking at you up and down. You gave her a little smile, hoping she wasn't to out you to the Stadwatch or your father directly. "Don't worry, I won't say a world to him" she said rolling up the sleeve of her shirt showing you a bunch of bruises all over her arm.
"Oh he likes to hit on ladies now? New hobby of his?" said Jesper noticing the condition of her arms, imagining the rest of her body was filled with purple and green signs. You apologized for your father's wrong doings but is not like he meant those words you spoke and you knew it. You and him were two completely different people.
The Grisha in front of you started to move her hands like if they were dancing with each other, rays of color moved in the air between the two of you, sparks adding a sense of magic and mystic to the experience. You started to feel your flesh morphing under her spell and you imagined your face changing shape onto her magic. Some seconds were needded before Jesper handed you a tiny mirror and you noticed how different you looked now.
"is temporary rember this. I suggest you to leave now, and for my payment... Just for the service, I would not out you." she said and turned to Kaz, hands in a cup form waiting to receive her kruge. The man rolled his eyes but payed her non the less.
The port was calm and not as busy as in the morning. The fishermen were getting ready to leave in the early morning, but Kaz did not stop there. He walked until he stopped infront of a boat of a privateer. At its front two people, siblings you noticed.
"Where is Sturmhond?"
"Inside." said the woman and she walked in, you thought to call whoever that Sturmhond was.
"Is she the girl Nina talked us about?" was the man turn to speak. Kaz nodded. "Great. We are leaving anytime soon so say goodbye to your friend and on we go." he added, he too walking back on the boat.
"Take care of yourself." was the only think Kaz said to you
"I'll pray the Saints to keep you safe at all times and remeber, no mourners..."
"No funerals" you ended the phrase with her. "Take care of Kaz for me too, and tell him before is too late, promise me Inej you would tell him" you said.
"Oh come on now, is my turn to say bye" said joyfully Jesper hugging you and spooning you around. You giggled and when your feet touched land you asked Jesper to keep being like this, no matter what.
"One more think Jesper, do not hide your true self. Not anymore." he gave you a shy smile and then moved closer to Inej. You thanked Nina for the big help and wished for her to be reunited with her man, then it was time to say goodbye to Wylan.
"You left me for last" he joked.
"The best is always left for last. Take care of yourself and keep Jesper in his place from time to time" you hugged him as strong as you were able to. Before you could add something Kaz was talking to someone behinde you.
"keep her safe, if something has to happen to her you know I'll find out Sturmhond."
"Geez man, I haven't even spoke a world and you attack me like this. Do not fear I'll protect her, well actually Tolyan and Tamar will."
"WHEN DID I AGREE ON THAT?" he said surprised to hear his captain's words. His reaction made you laugh a little getting the man's attention. "why are you laughing uh?" You turned to Kaz and the rest of your new friends, that you were already leaving behind.
"I will write to you as much as possible so keep an eye to the mails. Now go, you guys need some good rest." to this Sturmhond accompanied on his boat and you gave a last wave before sailing to Saints knew where.
"Inej, would you pray the Saints to protect her for me too?" the Wraith didn't say a world, just prayed for him too with a little smile. Maybe she had a change at the end, maybe she had to wait for him to break out his shell but a change whatsover.

🍀Money Isn't The Only Victory🍀 - Total Drama Viewer Reacts to Disventure Camp Season 2 Episode 7 “Not As Easy As It Seems”
Hi.
So you may not have expected this because of... what happened...
But I wanted to react to this show and keep doing it. As a way to... you know... distract, from recent events...
Anyway, let's just go right ahead and jump into it.
"I'm putting together the platforms for today's challenge. Can't you see?"
Oh I don't like the sound of that...
"Didn't you have an intern to take care of these things?"
"Ever since Nina was kidnapped, I swore that I would never let her go for a second."
What exactly is your relationship with this puppet... demon... thing?
"That means this is our chance to get Riya's perfume back."
Oh yeah I forgot about that!
"I used her personal bathroom awhile ago and she didn't even notice."
OKAY LAKE, YOU REBEL.
"Okay, let's split up. That way it will be faster."
That doesn't look like splitting up to be chief.
"I must thank you again. What you are doing for me, I really appreciate it."
Awww
I am liking this Best Girls Alliance.
"Now I see why it is important. Those perfumes are really expensive."
"'Passion Of The Red Lady'. Mom and all her friends use that same fragrance."
Oho. Riya's fancy.
I know she got it from Connor. But she gonna be fancy rich with a million dollars.
"With a million dollars, I will always have the smell of my friends!"
I mean I don't want to THINK that, but think about it. Riya's a broke-ass actress who can't get a role, and is outside of her country with no relationships. And she's in a reality show where the value is money.
"If I was rich and famous, I'd have lots more friends and be lots happier!"
"Well, some people connect so well that when they separate, they feel empty. It's not common, but it's real."
Yeah, I know people like that.
Empty HOW, exactly?
"This brought back some memories."
Oh?
"When I was really stressed out with my homework and started losing my hair... mom took me to the wig shop. When I arrived, I saw a beautiful wig with red hair... but they didn't let me choose it. Mom was very upset with me because of my baldness. So she bought me this... she said it made me look like a good girl."
Awwwww
WEAR IT.
BECOME A REDHEAD. COME ON.
I WANT REDHEADED LAKE NOW.
YEEESSS!! REDHEADED LAKE! LET'S GOOO!!!!
I'm gonna have to get used to it. BUT LET'S GOOO!!!!
"First, you will have to play the classic dodgeball."
DODGEBRAWL.
At least NOW there's an in story reason for it, as she's Chris McLean's daughter and Total Drama is canon.
NUT SHOT!!
WE HAVE A NUT SHOT!!!
"Oops! I'm sorry!"
Oh, Rosa, don't apologize! You're too nice!!
NO ROSA!
OH GEEZ I THINK YOU CONCUSSED HIM.
"What kind of a bum can't blow up a ball properly?"
James, you can say asshole. It's fine.
Even a six year old has more guts to cuss than you.
"Actually, mine works."
"Forget it."
😂
OH MY GOD
THAT HAD NO RIGHT BEING AS FUNNY AS THAT WAS
😂
I'm SORRY
"Team A wins by default!"
That doesn't sound fair at all. You don't want to let Tess cook?
"That's not fair."
Even she agrees.
"Player 2? Who's Player 1?"
Oh I didn't think of it like that.
"He was my grandfather... everything I know about video games, he taught me."
Aw.
An ELDER teaching the YOUNGER generation about VIDEO GAMES? WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE?
"Until three months ago, when he died of lung cancer."
Aw...
YOU AND JAKE WOULD BE BEST FRIENDS!!
"I was super close with my grandparent, and they died."
"OMG ME TOO!!"
"I didn't leave the house for a long time and I cried every day... that's why I decided to audition for this show."
OH GEE, A CHARACTER WHO CAME TO THIS SHOW FOR THEIR GRANDPARENT.
WHERE HAVE I SEEN THIS BEFORE?
If Allyson and Jake aren't friends, I'll probably sue someone.
"Life can be crap, right?"
Tell me about it.
"It's enough to take a step forward to see that life has much to offer."
That an AWKWARD way she said that line.
Oh welp. That was easy.
"You see, he's been very good to me these last few days... but I'm worried about trusting him and that he will disappoint me again."
Fair.
I mean just because a guy is sweet in the tent ONCE doesn't mean you can negate all the toxic behavior before.
I mean, I know there's such thing as redemption. I need to see it and be proven it first.
"What he did to Yul, it didn't seem like it was part of a strategy."
Oh no, THAT was different. THAT was personal.
That was just bias against Yul right there.
"Rather, I would say that he was protecting you."
Yeah, that too.
But mostly bias against Yul.
"If what he wants is an alliance, wasn't Yul a better option?"
HELL NO.
IN WHAT WORLD WOULD YUL BE A GOOD OPTION FOR AN ALLY?
"Maybe he likes you."
"You mean like... he's in love with me?"
I mean... DUH.
But I think LUST is a better word than LOVE. You know what I'm saying?
"The way he kissed you, the tone of his voice, his body movements when he is around you..."
Yeah, lust. That's just proving my point.
COME ON LAKE! YOU CAN DO IT!!
YUS LAKE! GET IT GIRL!!
XD
OUCH. That looked like it hurt.
YEEESS!!
OH COME ON THAT'S BULLSHIT
THAT WAS ON THE POLE!
"Congratulations Hunter! You have won the challenge and immunity."
OH THAT'S BULLSHIT!!
"I mean that we can be friends again and even vote together."
When were you guys friends in the first place?
"But if you have any plans or something, no matter what, I'd like you to tell me and keep me in mind."
I can work with that.
If James is gonna keep his word on that.
"So can we take pictures together again?"
Oh geez, so THAT'S what he was worried about XD
"Hey gang! Me and my boyfriend got back together! Hashtag reunion!"
"I think we should vote for Tess or Ally."
Oh, so we're strategizing.
Yeah I kinda felt like one of them had to leave at some point.
"Hunter's alliance has dominated the game since day one. The only loss they've had was because I set Yul to your team."
That's fair logic.
"So bow down to ME! I saved y'all from the bigger threats here! I am a QUEEN! SHOW RESPECT!"
OOP. BUSTED.
SHE'S GONNA SPILL.
"There's still a long way to go before tonight's elimination. So we can spend the afternoon relaxing and playing video games."
Wow. You guys are ASS strategists, aren't ya?
"Guys, there's something I want to tell you."
"We are SCREWED. Nice knowing ya."
"I just want to say... thank you."
Oh? Awww...
"Thank you for not giving up on me. Thank you for insisting on reaching out to me, even though I'm a mess. I was horrible to you, and yet you treated me with kindness, patience, and love. I... I am very, very happy that I came to this camp. Despite many horrible things I've been through.... meeting you two has been on of the best things that's ever happened to me."
AWWWWWW. HONEY. OH MY GOSH...
I'm actually touched. SWEETHEART.
"Yeah, I could have told them that I was sure Ally or myself would be voted out at the end of the night. But what for? I... I prefer to spend these last few hours together without worries."
Awwww...
So she's just deciding to quietly accept her fate.
I get it. Honestly? I do get it.
For THIS character specifically, I get it.
Well, we know the outcome here.
'James'
Huh. I thought they'd vote Lake. Since, you know, she was the closest to winning immunity.
'Tess'
Op. I knew it.
'Ally'
Wait what?
I thought y'all were voting together. Why'd you split?
'James'
'Tess'
'James'
'Tess'
I knew it.
She accepted her fate.
What I'm wondering is who the fuck threw their vote on Ally?
"Damn! I knew that if Yul left, attention would fall on us!"
XD
I love that his response is to blame Yul.
It's YUL'S fault that Tess got eliminated here.
I don't care what everyone says. Hunter said it. BLAME YUL FOR TESS GOING HOME.
"We must have thought of a plan or something!"
I mean that's on you guys. YOU'RE the ones that said 'nah, let's party!'
At least Tess CHOSE to let it happen.
"At the end of all this, we will meet again and we will be together."
As a polycule!
It goes full circle!
Awwwwww
Bye, Tess! Have a good one!
That's a good end for that character. I will give her that.
Could Tess have strategized to save herself? Maybe???
I don't know, honestly. I don't know what she COULD have done in that situation. Those five were pretty sound in their logic against her and her alliance, so it's not like she could've persuaded them to flip.
And they didn't have any blasted idols, so yeah, that was inevitable.
And if not in that episode, then at some point it would've happened anyway.
So I'm actually okay with it, because you know what?
TESS WON.
Okay? SHE WON.
I said this in a post about Total Drama before. NOT EVERY CHARACTER GOES ON THESE SHOWS TO WIN.
Some of them came here for the experience. Or to get away from bad life circumstances.
TESS IS AN EXAMPLE OF THIS.
There was nothing in her character that read to me that she was on the show to win the money.
If she won? Great. The money is a bonus.
But what she was REALLY after was to be on that show for a fulfilling experience. Which she NEEDED due to her depression.
AND SHE GOT IT. SHE MADE FRIENDS. SHE GOT A LIFE-FILLED EXPERIENCE. SHE GOT TO BE HAPPY.
THAT IS THE VICTORY THERE.
TESS WON.
So it didn't matter to her that she gets eliminated. As long as she gets to keep her friends by the end. That's what matters to her.
GOOD FOR YOU, TESS.👏

Random update on the transcription of the Eternal Diva novel, aka probably the one that most people don't even care about that much to begin with
(though you should, I haven't translated it yet but I spotted a few words here and there that caught my attention such as Luke mentioning Misthallery multiple times. Also there is in the introduction a novel-exclusive scene with Janice in it, just fyi.)
To those who didn't know, most of my free time as of lately has been put into the transcription/translation website I have dedicated to the Japan-exclusive Layton content that we never got to see, and more specifically I have been transcribing the Eternal Diva novel. Because yes, now you know, Eternal Diva was adapted into a novel and none of us non-Japanese fans got to read it. And boy this novel is going to drive me insane because I have been working on it for literal weeks by now.
In terms of progress, I have reached the part of the story in which Puzzle 004 is about to start, aka right after the end of the "Layton McGuffinned a helicopter that thinks it's a grasshopper" part. I have transcribed up to page 119 (+ the ending is already transcribed and translated because past me felt like it), and there are now 74 blank pages left for me to fill. And then the translation will come, too. I am totally looking forward to it. Can you feel the enthusiasm in my exciting punctuation.
This is the shortest novel of the list (200 pages if I count the blank ones), and this is the only novel that has furigana everywhere (aka the only one of the four I can actually read somewhat properly). Yippeeeee
Anyway if you want to take a look even though only the beginning and the end are translated for the time being:
You can take a looksie right here!
The reason why I'm going through the entire transcription first and that the full translation will only come afterwards is because, at least in my opinion if I were to view this as a reader instead of as the person uploading the content, this means that you guys get to know the story faster than if I progressed through both the transcription and translation at the same time.
After all, let's see it like this: sure, you can't read Japanese, and for the most part, neither can I. But since it's been transcribed, it means that you can easily copy-paste the Japanese text into DeepL, or Google Translate, or any translator of your choice. Sure, it's more work for you and if you are of the lazy kind you will still have to wait the same amount of time regardless (not saying it in a derogatory way), but at least it gives the choice for the ones who want the whole story to get it somewhat faster.
I don't speak Japanese, and I am not translating things as I go, so I have only a vague understanding of what is going on in the novel (and obviously, the fact that I know the plot of the movie is a huge help). But I can already tell you this much:
We get the lyrics for the ending's song, obviously. This is part of what has been translated so far.
The whole novel is not divided into chapters, but rather into smaller scenes/sections (however you want to call it). Some are narrated by Luke, some others are narrated by Janice (and/or Melina, I guess it depends on the context). Just like the three main novels you may be slightly more familiar with, the narration is in first person.
Since the only narrators who showed up so far are Luke and Janice/Melina, I don't think the scenes from Emmy's POV will be included (aka the one in which she questions Nina's parents, the one in which she is with Schrader, and the one in which she finds and rescues Grosky in the middle of the ocean). Perhaps they are going to appear later in the novel, but I highly doubt it for a number of reasons (number of pages in each section, and titles of said sections).
The novel starts with an exclusive scene under the POV of Janice. It takes place three years after the case, and she is just finished singing for the last rehearsal before the opera she will play in the day after — it is The Eternal Kingdom, which she has not sung in three years, and the next day will be the second time ever this opera will be sung in a theatre with a public. Of course, no eternal life game planned this time. Janice also gets a letter of encouragement from Whistler, which is pretty sweet.
Unless I missed it and it somehow happens in the part I did not yet translate, the intro of the movie in which Luke and Layton solve the case where Don Paolo decided to mess with the bells of Big Ben is not at all mentioned in the novel. Luke in the novel doesn't give the introduction-narration speech that he does in the movie, we jump straight into the scene in which he is shown in Layton's office pretending to be pointing at culprits (and we get a fun little scene showing what led up to him doing it). Go read it, it is translated, and I do not want to spoil for you the opportunity to read Luke being a dork all over again.
We switch to the flashback telling the actual events, and this is the part that has no translation yet. I won't give many details as a result since I don't know the things for sure myself, but as I said earlier, I saw a few words that I recognised here and there: notably, Luke mentions Misthallery on at least two occasions. If memory serves, one of them is when Grosky shows up to "arrest" the puppet, and I think Luke went on a small tangent to give a small summary of the events of Last Specter (aka how he met Grosky), and also mentions Descole (though he does not give his name, since I'm pretty sure that he didn't hear the words "My name is Jean Descole" at the time, and only learned that precisely upon meeting him again in ED). On another time he mentions it, from what I vaguely understood he may be making a reference to Naiya, Janice/Melina's friend who can be found in Misthallery and who is also a singer (she's the NPC who is meant to represent the singer of Paxmaveiti, just like Yuming is meant to represent the singer of Mysterious Flower in Miracle Mask). Pretty inconsequential, but it's always fun to have continuity nods and references to the actual plot of other stories.
Finally, back to three years later, we get an epilogue narrated by Luke which is the exact same scene as the movie: Layton and Luke are listening to Janice's opera, and at some point Janice shows up to say hi. Luke also mentions what happened to the rest of the participants after the case throughout those three years; most are just what we see from the credits, but the novel still gives a few more details in some cases:
By the time of the original trilogy, Amelia is studying abroad at a foreign university, and she recently sent a letter to Layton and Luke, saying that she is grateful even after three years.
Luke is friends with Nina, who comes by at Gressenheller every now and then, and he even considers her a rival of sorts due to Nina having a good memory and studying well. (also what the heck Luke why are you talking about getting to college and how you're worried that she may be admitted to college before you do, you're THIRTEEN)
Celia Raidley and Pierre Starbuck got married "just the other day" (yes, the ship is now officially confirmed beyond just the one image from the movie credits) and the tabloids are going wild over it.
Luke is reading Annie Dretche's latest mystery novel, and he can't put it down. Annie apparently told him that she has been writing faster so that Bargland (the guy who said he did not have much time left due to an illness) can read them at the hospital. Seems like "six months" turned into three years after all, good for him!
Anyway, that's all I have to say for now, I hope you enjoyed the rambling. I hope this will reach some fans of the movie who would be excited to get a few more details!

I've been previously reminded of the idea, what if magic makes Nina or Eddie turn evil, a la Rufus. The last time I thought of it, I concluded that sans magic bs Nina wouldn't turn evil, but she might turn dark. (See here: https://www.tumblr.com/non-cannon/747558446208024576/ive-been-having-serious-thoughts-about-what-if?source=share)
This time I decided to think about what might drive Nina to turning evil on her own, and what that would look like.
I think it starts the same as before. She self isolates to protect others from the chosen one curse, and she ends up alone. At some point she even loses her grandmother. It could be from natural causes, but chosen one related causes sure would speed things up.
Nina ends up alone, for years, dealing with spirits and demons and gods and curses all the while. It wears her down. She gets of fucking tired of dealing with all of it that she eventually snaps. She doesn't turn evil, not yet, she just turns apathetic. She starts saying no, and refusing to engage.
Unfortunately, the gods and spirits and monsters don't leave her alone, and eventually she snaps again. All Nina wants is some peace and quiet, and they won't let her have it, so she'll force it. She'll kill them all if that's what if fucking takes.
There's also a part of her that wants to make sure there will never be another chosen one, so no one else will have to suffer as she has. No one can be chosen if there's no one left to do the choosing.
The gods may be powerful, but over the past few millennia, they've waned, and over the last several years she's grown in power. She's gained knowledge, skills, powers, artifacts and allies. She doesn't necessarily know about the allies. But they're the minor beings that have gotten used to being ignored who were surprised that anyone was willing to hear them out, let alone help them without asking for anything in return. So they help her, partially to repay whatever favor they feel she owes them, but also because who ever broke someone this kind and pure and good, probably fucking deserves whatever is coming for them.
Nina won't accept the help directly, she still won't let anyone get help hurting her, so they find ways to subtly help her. Guiding her to useful artifacts, protecting while she sleeps, ect.
The gods largely ignore her, until she kills her first minor god. Then they start panicking. And while Nina doesn't notice, either because it's so small, or wilful, the domain of the god crumbles, harming and or killing people god of war style. As she keeps killing gods, more of the world starts being damaged and more people die, and Nina refuses to notice.
And for whatever reason the gods can't fight her directly unless she takes the fight to them, and when she takes the fight to them, they die. They try sending curses and hexes at her, but they're the reason she knows how to fight those. One of the more self aware gods muses that if they hadn't so thoroughly used and abused her, she wouldn't have the power, skills, knowledge, or motive needed to kill them.
And they can't stop her. They've already taken everything from her except her life, and she's stopped caring about that long ago. And they've thus far failed to kill her anyway. Eventually Anubis comes up with the idea to take his powers away from her, only to realize that it's much harder to retract curse than a blessing. Not that it matters, Nina's amassed enough power at this point that she no longer needs his power.
Eventually the remaining gods, desperate and scared, decide to chose human acolytes to fight her for them, and the chose the members of Sibuna. Hoping desperately that, despite how many years it's been, Nina still cares about them enough that they can stop her, one way or another
