Before I post the short story I've been working on, I wanted to introduce some of Ace’s family, since they're going to be featured. I tried to edit it down to the important stuff but if anyone wants to know more just ask.

Solveig Liv Årud/Sylvia Hall, Ace's Mother

Ace's mom Solveig was born in Kapp along with her two brothers, One of her neighbors was a music teacher and taught her to play the Hardanger fiddle. When she was seventeen she became pregnant by one of her neighbor's students but was urged by her neighbor to never tell him or anyone else of the child's parentage. Having had Ace outside of wedlock Solveig faced a lot of social ostracisation. Her sister in law, who was deeply religious judged Solveig for having a child without marrying. A rumor amongst the townspeople was that Ace's father was actually a fossegrim, that Solveig agreed to have a child with in exchange for teaching her to play the fiddle so well. (there is actually a lot to say on how this affected Ace and his view of himself but we don't have time to get into it rn). After a flood made her and her family homeless they emigrated to America in 1920 at the advice of some friends.

Once they arrived in New York Ace became very ill and bedridden causing them to be left behind as the rest of their family continued further up to Minnesota. While Ace was sick Solveig met and later fell in love with a Swedish immigrant named Eric Hall. She married Eric after knowing him for half a year. Solveig had kept Ace close all her life and not really letting her grow up or stand on her own. So he reacted badly to Solveig marrying. Being jealous and being unable to deal with not being her mothers center of attention, making him lash out. After an argument where Solveig slapped Ace for being disrespectful to her stepfather Ace ran away from home. Ace and Solveig have been estranged ever since, both being too stubborn to try to reconcile. After Solveig married Eric she tried very hard to adapt to American culture, Americanizing her name to Sylvia and trying her best to learn English and not speak with an accent. She currently has two children with Eric. Neither them nor Ace know of each other's existence.

Torbjørn Olaug Årud and Lena Årud, Ace's Grandparents

Lena was born in Kapp and Torbjørn was born in the Lofoten area. He traveled down to Toten to live with a family friend after he became orphaned. He later met Lena and they eventually married. They later had 2 sons, the youngest of them dying after moving away as an adult, later they had a daughter they named Solveig. When Solveig became pregnant at seventeen they decided to support her and help her take care of their granddaughter. In the years immediately after Ace was born she and Solveig lived with them before moving into a smaller house on their property. By this time their oldest had married and taken over the main house on the farm and Torbjørn and Lena moved into another small house on the property.

They emigrated to America with the rest of their family in 1920 and went with the rest to Minnesota leaving Solveig and Ace behind. Lena later died in 1922 after becoming sick. Ace does not know this happened.

Ace is supposed to be a tortoiseshell cat, witch is something that can be seen in her mother and grandmother as well. this is a reference to the fact that tortoiseshells are mostly female. (source)

Her grandfather is supposed to be a Norwegian forest cat.

The implement Solveig is holding is called a Lyster and it is used to fish. Lyster fishing was usually done when it was dark out, using the Lyster to stab the fish. it was banned in the 1860 but was most likely still practiced afterwards. Today it has become completely illegal. The fish in the bucket are trout, a fish that was commonly caught with a Lyster. (source) Here is a painting depicting it.

Story: 

She was on her own the moment she became expecting.

She was delighted at first, until she shared the news with her mate and saw his face fall.

She had lost one kit the day that they were born, and her remaining son was incredibly sick, requiring attention at all times. Flightfur wasn't able to sleep for days, her worry wouldn't let her.

Her son--Birchkit--didn't live past more than a moon.

Flightfur shrank into her grief, becoming bitter and angry. Bitter at the world for stealing her children, angry at her so-called 'mate' for never comforting her or visiting them before they died.

How dare he?

How dare he bow his head at the vigil? How dare he give a speech about his poor dead children, who he never bothered to see?

All the moons Flightfur spent exhausted, ungroomed, on the verge of a breakdown!

All the times she went to him, begging for help, and he came up with excuses or promised to help 'later,' but never would.

All the worries she expressed, wishing that he would just come see his kits before it was too late, to just be with her again.

How dare he be pretending to feel the pain that was tearing Flightfur up inside?

It ate her up completely--the rage, the sorrow, the grief. It left her a shell of her former self, living day by day staring into space.

While she suffered in her misery, Tadpoleclaw moved on just fine not even a moon after his kits were in the ground.

After....how long? Moons...Years? Her daughter, her last surviving kit, was an adult now. She was walking in the forest alone, when she spotted Tadpoleclaw and Lilybeak writhing on the ground. At first, she thought that they were training, when the spray of blood hit her.

In a flash, she realized that her daughter was in danger. In that same flash, her instinct kicked in and she sprang forward, ripping Tadpoleclaw from her baby and tearing at him with her claws, screaming her hatred as she tore and tore and tore, unleashing all her hatred for him and all that he's put her through.

His face and chest were unrecognizable, marred completely by long red, ragged lines and pools of blood. When her ears stopped ringing, she heard voices behind her and sprung around to face a shocked patrol.

She tried to explain, stammering, but her heart was beating so fast and she still wasn't sure what had happened, it was all a blur...

She looked to her daughter for help. She could tell them what was going on.

Her daughter kicked that bird skull that she's been fascinated by since kithood, before telling everyone that Flightfur attacked Tadpoleclaw unprovoked.

Flightfur didn't have any time to speak a word before Tadpoleclaw's new mate leaped from the crowd and bit into her throat.

Story: 

Her father was never really in the picture--it wasn't until she became an apprentice that Lilybeak even knew which warrior was him.

Her mother...Well, she was in the nursery with her, but that's as far as their interactions went, not including formal greetings or patrols. Lilybeak didn't blame her. She had lost one kit the day they were born, and Lilybeak's remaining littermate was incredibly sick, requiring attention at all times.

He didn't live past more than a moon, but instead of turning her attention to her last surviving kit, she shrank into her grief, becoming bitter and angry.

That was okay. Lilykit had her grandmother. Softbark taught Lilykit to wean, to walk, and every other important thing a young cat must know. She also taught her granddaughter special skills, like how to perfectly pluck a bird of its feathers or clean the meat completely off the bones so that nothing is wasted.

Lilykit was so proud of herself when she had finished her first--successful--clean of a crow. Softbark pulled the skull from the rest of the body and passed it to her, encouraging her to always look at it in a time of need or confusion.

She had meant for Lilykit to remember her success, but the kit took it literal.

That skull was everything to her, moreso when her grandmother passed.

Lilykit could never be sure if her mother ever heard her questions, or if she just didn't care enough to provide answers.

But that skull...She could always be sure that it was there. It would always help her, guide her.

It was simple enough. When she was plagued by a question or choice, she would gently kick the skull. If the mouth laid open, it was affirmation of the positive. If it closed, negative.

When the only guiding figure in your life is the skull of a long-dead animal, you're bound to be off when it comes to...societal norms and thought processes.

When a warrior had tried to take her skull away, thinking it junk, she had wailed and bit onto his tail so hard, she hit bone.

Her peers teased her for it, calling it gross and weird and pretending to gag at the smell when she curled up beside it while asleep.

They tried to take it from her one day as a joke...Lilypaw had to spend half a moon's worth cleaning the elders from ticks, but at least she got her point across. No one ever bothered her about her skull again. Weird glances, sure. Whispers, whatever. Lilybeak didn't care.

While others voiced their disdain of her new name, Lilybeak was delighted! Lilybeak, just like her friend!

Then that warrior...her father? Yes, she remembered, her father asked to go on a walk. When the skull confirmed that she should go, she did so, holding it delicately in her jaws.

Tadpoleclaw tried to act understanding and patient at first as he attempted to explain how strange Lilybeak's obsession was, but when Lilybeak refused to listen, he became frustrated. He asked her why she had to be so weird, doesn't she know they whisper about him too, as her father? What cats think of him to have her as a daughter?

He shouted at her to get rid of the skull or he would. Lilybeak told him that she had to ask it first. That enraged Tadpoleclaw and he tore it out of her jaws, throwing it to the ground. Then he placed a paw on it, pressing down..

Lilybeak shrieked and shoved him off, and they fell into a whirlwind of tooth and claw.

Before Lilybeak knew it, Flightfur had killed Tadpoleclaw, and a patrol was demanding what was going on. Flightfur looked at Lilybeak pleadingly, so Lilybeak gently kicked her skull to see what she should do.

It was closed. Negative. She couldn't go forward with telling the truth. So she raised her chin and announced her mother's crime.

It would only be the first time the skull had lead to someone's death.

Three times, a Clanmate was in danger--hanging from a broken branch, trapped on icy water, and faced against a badger. All three times, those Clanmates died because when faced with the choice to help or not, the answer was negative.

Not always. Sometimes it was positive, and she sprang into action and saved the cats in danger.

Whether she saved someone or didn’t had no affect on Lilybeak’s conscience. She was merely following what she was being told—that skull was for her, no one else. It was in her best interest to follow everything it told her.

If she didn’t help someone, it was probably because she would only be putting herself in danger. If she did, it meant she was safe enough to do so.

If she had told the truth about Tadpoleclaw’s death, maybe she would have been blamed as well, instead of treated as the lucky survivor of Flightfur’s rampage.

Then Lilybeak took her skull into battle. It would be hard to fight and worry tugged at her, but she needed it with her always.

Then she saw a Clanmate getting attacked by two opposing warriors. She kicked the beak…negative. She turned away.

But she hadn’t been without audience. That cat’s father had seen her neglect. He was farther and couldn’t help in time, but Lilybeak could have easily stepped in if not so obsessed with that weird beak.

Consumed by rage and grief, he snuck over to her nest that night. She slept a tail-length away from everyone else, the only one unbothered by that smell.

He picked up the skull that she loved so much, and slammed it down.

Additional Information:

—Was initially just gonna be Lilybeak, but I started writing and realized the mom has a strong motive. Flight was chosen because did her similar fur pattern.

—Lilybeak was suggested by @meowstival and @colonies-of-the-shells-and-fish !

—Because she was killed by the beak as well as buried with it (out of respect for her strange love), she has it with her in the Dark Forest.

—Both Tadpole and the dad that killed Lily are in StarClan.

—The dad slammed the skull down blindly, not really sure where he was going because cats aren’t really used to stabbing with items in their mouths. He ended up puncturing Lily’s eye, deep enough to kill her!

Awful Characters Round 1 Part 1 (2/8)

ASHFUR

I’m pretty sure Ashfur is the single most controversial character in the entire series (which is 100+ books long). He’s a very fun villain, but he is DEFINITELY a villain (a fact that was widely disputed when he was first established as a villain, circa 2009). Why the controversy? Well, because Ashfur attempted to murder his ex’s adult children so that said ex would “feel the same pain he felt” when she broke up with him. While Ashfur didn’t succeed in his murder attempt, he did manage to destroy his ex’s life (as well as her children’s). Soon after this, Ashfur was murdered by his ex’s daughter. HOWEVER, the ex’s son later spots Ashfur in cat heaven (long story) and demands to know why such a terrible cat was granted entry into heaven. And you know what the answer was? “He was a good cat who just loved too much.” That’s right! If you’re so down bad that you try to kill your ex’s kids, you’ll still go to heaven because you were acting out of “love”! Back when this book came out, the majority of the fans were young teenagers or tweens, and many fans took this excuse at face value. For YEARS (while the fans grew up), Ashfur’s status as a villain sparked vicious arguments. A decade later, Ashfur did make a return in the books, when his ghost possessed the body of his poor ex’s husband so that he could get closer to her, almost destroying the cats’ entire society in the process. By now, everyone has matured enough to recognize how terrible Ashfur is (thankfully), but you may still be called a terrible person for liking his character, because a good portion of the fandom is unable to separate liking a character and agreeing with his actions.

GREGORY HOUSE

He’s the medical malpractice doctor from the medical malpractice show. Man has never had a healthy relationship in his life and isn’t about to start now and by god he will break any law. Loyal but super weird about it, and makes everyone around him worse but also more interesting. He’s insufferable and I love him.

The show is regularly called the medical malpractice show. Everything he does is either questionable, illegal, dangerous, or all of the above. He’s said countless racist/sexist/homophobic things at any given opportunity, even to his friends. He has exactly one friend who is a thrice-divorced loser oncologist who only really stays with House because he's afraid of who would get hurt if he didn't. House will do anything to solve a puzzle or — God forbid — prove a point. He regularly puts people in danger to prove points of figure things out. His only morally redeeming quality is that he’s turned this obsession onto medical cases, and so usually the patients live. The show acknowledges multiple times that the only reason anyone tolerates his constant abuse is that he's a good doctor.

Alibi (daughter of Mac and Lyre and second oldest of Macavity’s kittens! She is a Magical cat with abilities similar to her father and Mistoffelees, her biggest trick is being able to teleport herself and others, however, using her powers comes with her body overheating exponentially (which can be really dangerous) and a chronic feeling of fire and soot in the back of her throat. she manages to keep the side effects of her powers hidden from the tribe (except Electra who finds out on accident) for most of her time there, Sadly she is the first Jellicle choice after Old Deuteronomy) (yes I accidentally wrote her entire life story shut up I love her)

Lucideus (eldest of her and her twin sister and daughter of Mac and Tililith. She is really close with her two younger siblings as well as Hiraeth (who is technically her nephew but they sick with calling themselves best friends lol) Like her Grandmother Grizabella and Tribe idle Bombalurina, Luci strives to be the next glamor cat, and often is found dancing while Hiraeth sings for her!!)

Tilibubble (younger of the twins and also the daughter of Mac and Tililith, she is closest with her fellow youngest siblings, Hiraeth and later on Russet! Tili was born mute, but surprisingly she finds it can be a great help (but also sometimes a big pain) at her job as when she’s old enough she trains under her Uncle Munkustrap and Brother Plato to be a Protector!)

OTHER KITTENS! :

Eglantine (Middle sister of the Somali cat trio that gets lowkey adopted by Tantomile and Rumpleteazer! She is a magical cat who later gets mentored by both the Physic twins, Mistoffelees and Alibi) (She also finds Hiraeth can be a terrible bore but she also can’t help but enjoy his company)  

Hiraeth Jones (Eldest son of Victoria and Plato!! He is fully blind due to an attack from a member of the Hidden Paw a few weeks after his birth. He is the next flirt of the junkyard and a great singer too!) (he may also have a crush on the newest magical cat in town tho)

Atlas Jones (one of Victoria and Platos triplets and probably the most protective of his siblings and cousins (like both plato and vicky in my hcs) he trains under Munk Alonzo and Cass to become a protector he is also aroace!!)

Diotima Jones (also a Platoria triplet!! She comes across very pessimistic and often very blunt (like her favourite uncle Misto) but she is also a hopeless romantic with a very detailed outlook on love! She also adores to dance with her mother and her auntie Jemima!!)

Aristotle Jones (final platoria triplet!! Ari is a mini Bustopher just with his uncle Alonzo patches!! Hes just a big friendly outgoing guy and loves to gossip with Jennyanydots! Like his triplet he also becomes a protector!!)

MollyMay Jones (May is the youngest of Victoria and Platos kittens and she is probably the most curious of the bunch! She is the reincarnation of Platos mother, and when she was born plato was shocked in that realization and it took time to come to terms with it. MollyMay is also the only one of Platos kids to not meet her aunt Alibi)

Azalea (Eglantines sister!! Aza is the oldest and she is also trans! She loves her siblings a lot and is very thankful for the Jellicle's but she also longs for a life on stage, she loves sitting with Jellylorum and learning about Gus (who was the last years Jellicle choice she didn’t get to meet) Later in life she fulfils her dreams and becomes the next theatre cat!)

Russet (Russ is the youngest of his siblings but definitely the most outgoing! Sadly he is the reason they had to leave their human family as he was born with no front legs (arms?) and was rejected by both their parents and their humans. His sisters didn’t want to leave him so they took him and ran away, bumping into Rumpleteazer who then gave them a home with her and her mate!!)

Oopsie Daisy (Daughter of Etcetera and Kismet!! absolute ray of sunshine like her mother, and just as big of a fan girl! The moment she’s able to speak, she had already appointed herself as Hiraeth’s biggest fan!!) (when she’s older she likes to spend her time split between her parent’s tribes!!)

THE SEVEN!!:

These are the seven kittens Tugger talks about in his song about Misto!! They are normally under the care of Pippa but one day they ran off and she came to ask the aid of the mystical Mistoffelees to help her pull them from a magical Top Hat the group had gotten stuck in!!

He also wears shorts and brown shoes. In the animated incarnations, his hair is curlier.

In Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, his yellow tie has red stripes, his shorts are a bit lighter, and his sneakers are black and white.

In The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, his tie is completely red and his sneakers are dark blue instead of black.

George, like his best friend Harold, is a class clown and loves to pull pranks. However, George is more bold than Harold and usually the brains behind their prank ideas. He is the braver of the two, using his lionheart to stand up to injustice. George is ironically a bit more cautious when it comes to fighting monsters. Despite his pranking nature, George's actions are generally targeted towards adult cruelty, such as his teachers and not his fellow students.

His other hobbies are skateboarding, watching TV, and making comic books with Harold, where he writes the comics. He has created comic book characters like Captain Underpants, Super Diaper Baby, Timmy the Talking Toilet, Dog Man, Ook and Gluk, Boxer Boy, Great Granny Girdle, and the Amazing Cow Lady. Despite crediting himself as a good speller, he often misspells words.

He uses his bravery to help protect Harold, even though the later is much stronger in terms of physical strength. He doesn’t stand for injustice and will use his tie to give some no good bad guys a real kick in the pants. He’s also incredibly smart and resourceful, usually the one making plans in the middle of battles.

Fun facts and information:

❤️: George loves Hippopotamuses. He knows a good chunk about them and usually talks about them to Harold.

❤️: George’s favorite food is Chocolate chip cookies!

❤️: Even though George Beard is a 6th grader in elementary school, in most places 6th graders are in middle school. Meaning he’s a prodigy child And has advanced knowledge compared to other kids in his class.

❤️: In book 6, he actually breaks the fourth wall by yelling at the narrator to stop describing Melvin's booger form so much, as he's making everyone sick with his disgusting imagery.

❤️: He is extremely sensitive to loud sounds. As seen in the movie multiple times where he’s plugged his ears due to loud noises.

Pre-Captain Underpants / Early Life

George Beard was born a quarter of a year after his best friend Harold Hutchins. Described as a "precocious" child, George's mother had already taught him how to read and write, and by kindergarten, scored higher on tests "than most children half his age." In fact, George was so smart for his age his teachers recommended he skip to the third grade, but his parents decided against it, reasoning that George would be overall better off in a classroom with students his age. George's parents, however, came to question that decision, as although it helped George develop adept social skills and was well-liked by his classmates, he was often bored in class due to his higher intellect and sometimes got into mischief, to the dismay of his teachers and parents.

When not riding his skateboard, reading comic books and graphic novels, or watching monster movies, George would often write stories, and had reportedly "filled up" twenty one spiral notebooks full of "marvelously silly adventure stories" he had written, one such being The Fart That Ate Detroit. Most of George's stories would often get him in trouble, due to at least most of them being filled with inappropriate and violent content for his age, despite his classmates enjoying them whenever he read them aloud.

Sometime during or before kindergarten, he and his parents moved from Michigan to Piqua, Ohio, in the hopes of starting a new life. On his first school day there, George's mother wanted George to make a good first impression at school by wearing a tie, which, after a short argument, reluctantly agreed to wear it, stating that "ties are for nerds".

On the way skateboarding to school, George was waiting for the traffic light to change when he saw Mr. Billy Bill, an unfriendly and cold gas station owner, push his new neighbor, Harold Hutchins, towards a few mean-looking sixth-graders, who yank the kid up and steal Harold's lunch money while the gas station owner watched and cruelly told the kid he needed to learn to stick up for himself, apparently humored by the child's lack of advantage against the bullies. George was visibly angered by the hostility and unfairness of the circumstance, as the bullies and Bill were easily bigger and stronger than Harold and outnumbered him 5 - 1.

When the light changed and the bullies had dragged poor Harold away, George walked over and switched the words on the gas station sign from "Free Brake Inspection" to "Free Bra Inspection", attracting the attention of an increasing mob of women, who became angry at the new words on the sign and beat the horrible gas station owner senseless. George parroted the same words Bill had said to the kid.

Finished with Bill, George skateboarded to the school and yelled at the boys to leave Harold alone. When the bullies Kipper Krupp and his gang began to run toward George, he undid his tie and proceeded to whip Kipper and his friends with his tie, scaring them to retreat into a trash bin. With the bullies in the trash bin, George stated firmly to them that if they messed with him or Harold again, they "will get the tie", and snapped his tie in the air again to make his point. Through his tears, Kipper wailed for his uncle Benjamin Krupp, who came over and demanded what was going on. Kipper framed George for bullying him, and took George and Harold (whom Krupp thought was lying about George merely defending himself) into detention.

In detention, the two sat quietly until the kid started to draw. Harold introduced himself as George's neighbor, and lent him papers to write on. George and Harold spent the entirety of the detention (which lasted all day due to Krupp being so busy that day he forgot about the boys) working on their first comic together, The Adventures of Dog Man. On the way out the school, the two came across Kipper and his gang, about to give "killer wedgies" to a couple of kindergartners, but when they saw George, the bullies released the kids and ran away. On the way home, the two talked about each other's interests and decided to start their own comic book company, Tree House Comix Inc.. After greeting his father, introducing him to Harold, making a couple of peanut butter and gummy-worm sandwiches, the boys went straight to George's bedroom and began writing a list of Kipper Krupp's strengths and weaknesses, only having but only needing "kinda dumb" under the weaknesses section.

The next day at school, the boys spent every free moment they had spying on Kipper and his gang, studying his schedule, behavior, and activities. They got his locker number and the type of padlock he used, even going so far as to stay after school, when Kipper had wrestling class. In just a week, George and Harold knew Kipper's schedule better than Kipper himself knew. One day after school, the boys went to a local hardware store and bought a padlock that was the same type as Kipper's, and went across the street to a toy store and bought a Susie Sunshine Friendship Bracelet Kit. That weekend, George and Harold spent most of their time planning and designing pranks to assist them in putting an end to Kipper's bullying. They got a roll of shelf-lining paper from the Beard family's kitchen and pants and dress shoes Harold's father left behind and nailed them to a pair of wooden stilts they had built.

On Monday, George and Harold arrived at school fifteen minutes early to take the friendship bracelet kit and the stilt pants into the boy's lavatory inside a stall, which looked from the outside as if someone was using the toilet. When the rest of the students arrived, George and Harold continued with their day, until the afternoon when they asked to use the restroom, during which they quickly grabbed the stilt pants and used it and the shelf-lining paper to make measurements on and around Kipper's locker. causing him to get embarrassed in front of his friends However, Kipper eventually catches on to the setup and, the next day, him and his gang steal the pizzas that George and Harold bought for the kindergartners as a way to torture them even further.

Infuriated, the two friends come up with another major prank on the bullies in retaliation. First, they fill the four bullies' lockers with shaving cream to pass it off as ectoplasmic ghost juice. While initially this works, Principal Krupp points out that the "ectoplasm" was obviously sprayed through the vents on doors. Enraged and tired of the anonymous pranks, Kipper and his friends begin to torture the kindergarteners for answers, even stealing more pizzas, which George and Harold were actually counting on them to steal, as they ordered them to have double ghost chili peppers (Piqua Pizza Palace's hottest chili peppers) which cause the bullies' tongues to burn up completely, resulting in them getting sent to the nurse's office.

George and Harold eventually create a comic that tells the tale of Wedgie Magee and the signs of his curse, all of which match their pranks. After Kipper and his gang "see" that ghost (George on stilts, wearing a giant pair of pants), they run outside in terror, during a severe thunderstorm and power outage.

On Monday morning, Kipper gives a 5 dollar bill to Donny Shoemeyer and promises to return all the money he stole from him. Elsewhere, Kipper's friends are passing out money to the kindergartners and doing good deeds for them. Kipper and his friends eventually gave back all the money they stole and never picked on anyone ever again.

Elementary school days

As they grew up, they excessively pull numerous pranks on the cruel teachers, many of which are directed at their bitter principal, Mr. Benjamin "Benny" Krupp, putting the two at odds with him. The duo also create comic books about an imaginary superhero named Captain Underpants, who fights crime in a pair of underwear and a cape. They distribute these to their schoolmates through a comic company called Treehouse Comix Inc., located in their treehouse.

George and Harold's pranks come to an apparent end after they're caught tampering with a toilet invention, the Turbo Toilet 2000, made by the school's intelligent and local snitch and intellectual, Melvin Sneedly, on video. Finally having solid proof of the boys' antics, Mr. Krupp excitedly prepares to annihilate their friendship by putting them in separate classes.

To prevent this, George hypnotizes Mr. Krupp with a 3D Hypno Ring he received out of a cereal box. The boys see that Mr. Krupp bears an odd resemblance to Captain Underpants without his toupee and command him to be Captain Underpants. The boys soon learn the severity of their actions when "Captain Underpants" begins causing problems around Piqua. To prevent these issues, the boys take him to their treehouse, where they discover that they can turn Captain Underpants back into Mr. Krupp by splashing water on him and can turn him back into Captain Underpants by snapping their fingers.

Knowing that Mr. Krupp will continue trying to separate them, they decide to settle with Captain Underpants but insist that he be dressed up as Mr. Krupp under the pretense of a "secret identity," to which Captain Underpants agrees. His sudden personality change even manages to attract the attention (and affection) of the school's shy lunch lady, Edith. Just when George and Harold believe that their troubles have ended, Jerome Horwitz Elementary School is visited by an odd, German-accented scientist named Professor Pee-Pee Diarrheastein Poopypants, Esq., or as he calls himself, Professor P (who is pretending to be a nice school teacher). Captain Underpants (disguised as Mr. Krupp) hires him to be the new science teacher, but George and Harold are suspicious of him due to his violent and short-tempered attitude, as well as his resume's content.

Captain Underpants, George and Harold have a plan to make Jerome Horwitz Elementary School fun again. As the first step of their plan, George and Harold made Captain Underpants conduct the 1812 Overture, with whoopee cushions to reboot the school. As the second step, they open the art room. For the third step, Captain Underpants sets up a funfair at the schoolyard, However, Harold and George have to keep watch of Captain Underpants as most of the games involve water. Mr Krupp is snapped into Captain Underpants back and forth as the boys would try to keep track of him due to the shenanigans taking place. As it starts to rain, Captain Underpants is back into an angry Krupp. Mr. Krupp finally separates the boys, which causes their plan to fail due to Professor Poopypants's reign of terror.

Professor Poopypants tries to take over the town with a giant version of the Turbo Toilet 2000, fueled by the school cafeteria's rotten leftovers left out by Edith and uses Melvin's brain to turn the children into glum, humorless zombies. George and Harold are caught by Mr. Krupp but to stop Professor Poopypants, the boys had no choice but to snap Krupp into Captain Underpants once again. Captain Underpants tries to stop the villain, but due to having no actual superpowers, is effortlessly defeated and thrown into the toilet. George and Harold are captured and nearly turned into zombies, but are able to escape after Professor Poopypants mentions the planet Uranus, causing the boys to laugh and damage the Turbo Toilet 2000's computer, restoring the children back to normal. Upon consuming the mutated leftovers, Captain Underpants acquires superpowers and, with George and Harold's help, defeats and shrinks Poopypants. Professor Poopypants easily escapes on a bee while the Turbo Toilet 2000 is sent to the junkyard for scrap.

Meanwhile, George and Harold destroy the Hypno Ring while bidding their final farewell to Captain Underpants in an attempt to permanently change him back to Mr. Krupp. Feeling that Mr. Krupp would be nicer if he had friends, the boys set him and lovesick Edith up on a date, thus making Mr. Krupp have a change of heart. Krupp returns the comics he took away from George and Harold, and even admits their comics are funny. However, the toxic waste from the Turbo Toilet 2000 transforms all the toilets into an army of Talking Toilets which attack the restaurant at which Mr. Krupp and Edith are dining. Mr. Krupp and Edith notice a toilet eating a guest and as Mr. Krupp calls for a waiter to get a check in hopes of leaving, upon snapping his fingers accidentally, Mr. Krupp once again becomes Captain Underpants, carrying George and Harold away to help him fight them, much to Edith's surprise and admiration

Adult life and more

George beard gets married to Lisa Beard sometime after college. He had taken classes for a culinary degree, to which he got a associates degree and then dedicated his full time into a masters in writing and history. George works as a successful author with his own set of Autobiographies, The life of a superhero’s sidekick, along side the Dogman series. He works alongside Harold and sometimes Melvin.

Dead Boy Detectives issue 1

I just read The Dead Boy Detectives issue 1 under The Sandman Universe banner.   It’s sad to see that banner struggle to stay in existence.  When it first started in 2018 we had The Dreaming (reboot), Books of Magic (Soft reboot), Lucifer (reboot), and the new original title, House of Whispers. Then came John Constantine: Hellraiser, The Dreaming: Waking Hours (twelve issue mini-series) and The Locke & Key Crossover from IDW.  After that was the short lived The Corinthian: Nightmare Country, and now The Dead Boy Detectives (soft reboot) and soon there will be Nightmare Country: Glass House (Coming this spring). This version of Dead Boy Detectives is written in such a way that you can just ignore the previous Dead Boy Detectives comics. This is deliberate to make it easy for new readers (as the original version has been out of print for some time) and to also serve as a marketing tie-in for the up-coming HBO Max Dead Boy Detectives TV series, spun off from Doom Patrol (but with different actors).

It’s interesting to note that in Doom Patrol one of The Dead Boy Detectives was played by Ty Tennant (Son of David Tennant) and David Tennant has worked with Neil Gaiman repeatedly for The Sandman audio drama (where he’s Loki), The Sandman Netflix series (He was in Dream of a thousand cats) and in Good Omens where he plays Crowley.  He was also the tenth actor to play The Doctor on Doctor Who and his wife played The Doctor’s daughter, and his father-in-law played a previous doctor. HIs wife, Georgia Tennant, also had a brief appearance in The Sandman Netflix series episode Dream of a Thousand Cats.  

Another interesting thing to note is The Dead Boy Detectives (though the show will be a spin-off of Doom Patrol) actually originated from Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman: Volume 4: Season of Mists.   The boys are two ghosts introduced in issue 25 of The Sandman comics (I forget what chapter number in the audio drama but I know it’s in The Sandman: Act 2 of the audio drama, I just can’t recall what chapter).   

The two ghost protagonists are Edwin Paine and Charles Rowland, two ghost children who read far too many Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew style young adult fiction and now think they have the knowledge required to function as detectives. But the real supernatural world and crime worlds intermingle into something far dark than the two ghost boys are prepared for.

The boys were roughly twelve or so years old when they died in the original version of the story but are bumped up to be in their late teens for Doom Patrol where Edwin was revealed to be gay and attracted to Charles, who seems quite oblivious.  Honestly, I never thought of them as having romantic interests in anyone because I always saw the characters as children.  The new TV version makes them older to accommodate for romantic storylines.

Anyway, I read the first issue of the soft reboot and it gives you a brief recap of how each of the boys died without going into too much detail about what was going on in The Sandman to cause the two children ghosts to initially meet.   Poor Edwin was killed by some wanna-be Satanists in the school attic.  And Charles was killed in the late twentieth century by the very same bullies who murdered Edwin, because they had been released from Hell when Lucifer quit to live on Earth and take up piano. (the main plot of The Sandman: Season of Mists and the TV series Lucifer). What I never liked about The Sandman comics was the idea of an innocent going to Hell and Death incarnate (who is portrayed as a kind woman) allowing that to happen. Because poor Edwin had also been trapped in Hell and he had no reason to be there except that he died thinking that’s where he’d go and for some reason Death, (who again is supposed to be kind) did not intercede even though we see her use her brother, Morpheus to rescue another soul from eternal torment later in The Sandman (See the Prez Rickards story in The Sandman: Words’ End).   I kind of hope poor Edwin’s origin is changed for the new HBO Max series and The Sandman Netflix series since it never quite sat right for me that an innocent child was in Hell, whether “Clerical error” or not. 

Most of the first issue is pretty generic and just tells you the basics about Edwin and Charles while a few grizzly things are going on.   It turns out the three-thousand-year-old witch, Thessaly, is being held prisoner by someone and is being forced to use her powers for them.    

I was never a big fan of the character Thessaly in The Sandman comics.  I’m not sure why the new Sandman Universe titles are trying to use her so heavily.  First she appeared in The Corinthian: Nightmare Country and now here. I suspect the plots are linked.   

As I said, I was never a big fan of Thessaly. For starters, she was very much a TERF in her original comic depiction in The Sandman: A Game of you.  Yes, her TERFyness was downplayed for The Sandman audio drama but that doesn’t undo the original depiction, not really.

Also she was not a very sympathetic character to begin with. She was cold and sort of reflected what Morpheus was before his character growth.  She was also homicidal and selfish.  She sold Morpheus out to The Kindly Ones just to extend her already very long life and so they would look the other way for her own misdeeds.       

Still, she was the most interesting part of the new Dead Boy Detectives soft reboot.  Seeing her in captivity was deliberately reminiscent of Morpheus’s captivity from the first issue / chapter of The Sandman.  And it makes me curious about how she’ll get her revenge- not if- but when she gets her revenge.

Chronicles Of Owning A Hybrid| Chapter 1: Here You Are

Pairing: Ragdoll Hybrid! Yoongi x Owner! Female Reader

A/N: So, I wrote something. This was very spontaneous of me but this is my first BTS and hybrid related fic. I very much have plans to have this as a small series. From short to long chapters. I have no idea how much this will be updated.

It wasn’t supposed to happen, truthfully.

You were asked by a friend to attend a consultation with them because they felt nervous about going in alone. They needed some support so, going with them was going to be fine. Because that’s all that was supposed to happen. 

Now, here you were at your appointment, alone because you weren’t sure how to ask your friend since they were home still getting associated with their hybrid. Nobody knew you were here doing this. Reviewing over a cat hybrid- a Ragdoll- that was on his fourth strike. 

Past families that adopted this hybrid before only saw the breed he was. A pretty Ragdoll cat. Not the human he mostly presented as. They thought that just because he was mixed with a Ragdoll meant he would be gentle, calm, and sociable. A known cat breed to be perfect with families. What they got was the complete opposite.

The most they seemed to be able to tell you was he’d been adopted four times already, the longest housing being six months. He was quiet and didn’t interact much with the other hybrids in the shelter. Mostly stayed in the same areas in the room they had for them. The way they spoke about him, made you think they were trying to discourage you from adoption. You couldn’t see what was so wrong with him even when they were describing him as distant and antisocial, overall unfriendly. It still didn’t make you rethink it for some reason. Something in you wanted to give him a place to call home after hearing all this.

A few weeks went by with no word from the shelter. You were starting to think the extra shifts for the past month and a half at work for preparation were in vain. Perhaps they were being more cautious of his strikes and worried you would return him like all the others. If it was, for this reason, you really couldn’t blame them to be picky about who was to attempt adopting him next. You could only hope they cared so much for those in their care.

As you washed some dishes that had been a bit overdue, your phone rang. You weren’t quick to answer, at first, as hope had gone from high to low in the few weeks. Though, you still dried your hands-off because it could have been work. Who knew you’d be seeing the number you’d familiarize yourself with. Your heartbeat must have doubled as you stumbled over, sliding the answer button. “H-Hello?” You answered, cringing over your nervous voice. “This is Hope’s Shelter calling for (Y/N)(L/N), we were wondering if you were still interested in adopting?” The words felt like they were going through one ear and out the other. You weren’t all too sure what to expect when answering the call but hope had suddenly being reassured. “Yes, of course!” You answered almost too quickly. The eagerness felt as if it was spilling out of you at this point. “Great! Would Thursday be fine for you to come in?” It was currently Monday, another few days was nothing to wait for after these weeks. “That works out perfectly.” 

After the short goodbyes were said, you stood there in your kitchen nearly dumbfounded. You were officially days away from adopting a hybrid. Suddenly, the mixed feeling of excitement and worry came over you. The first week was only filled with thoughts of not living in your apartment alone anymore. In the past, you had roommates. Some worked out just fine and others not so much. To the point, you never wanted to experience them again unless it was a close friend. 

The second week was filled with doubts of if you even seemed worthy enough to take care of another, especially when the other couldn’t exactly take care of themselves. Hybrids didn’t have much freedom. They couldn’t go anywhere alone without their owners. Unless they were service hybrids, which there was a lot to go through to get them certified. They really couldn’t do anything and suddenly thinking about that, you realize how weird it’s going to be for someone to call or to even refer to you as their ‘owner’ will be. 

There was no way in hell you could treat hybrids as a pet. They were way more human than human and capable of feelings of understanding, not at all saying normal animals weren’t capable of such. There were a few times you’d gone over to a friend’s house and they introduced you to their hybrid. Sure they had some traits of the animal they were mixed with, but they acted like their human part in front of you for the most part. This was nearly the only time you’d interacted with hybrids. So, the experience was on the low of how they truly acted behind closed doors.

The few days of waiting went by sluggishly. Mentally you had a list of things to do or things you thought you needed to do before Thursday. You went out and bought a few different types of clothes, not much as you had no idea of what he would like. Bought more food than you’d ever stocked your home with before, again, not knowing what he would like. There was so much you didn’t even know about him yet, not even his name.

Standing in front of the shelter, the weeks and days of waiting were finally over. The nerves and enthusiasm had mellowed out in the slow waiting days. Though, you couldn’t help feel a little nervous walking into the shelter.

Almost immediately, you were pulled into an office to go over some paperwork. It was nearly the same as papers to adopt a normal animal. It didn’t seem as strict since you didn’t need things for an animal. Though, you were surprised at how they didn’t seem so… disheartening towards you anymore.

Signing the papers felt unreal as the pen glided across the paper. You had officially adopted a hybrid.

Being a hybrid wasn’t all it was cut out to be, at least, not for Yoongi. Spending nearly all his life in the shelter. Maybe a year and a half were in actual homes. It was probably not even that if he was being honest with himself, but after the third home, he stopped counting the days and hoping.  

The first time he was adopted, he was around ten years old, a little old for being adopted but nothing too bad. The family was looking for a hybrid around their twin son and daughter’s age, and Yoongi just happened to be two years younger than them. It was perfect they thought. It seemed like a happy family a month in but there was change. The children were constantly harassing him, pulling his ears and tail, pressured him to do things that would get the adults involved to the point of punishments. 

It went on for months before they returned him, saying he was a deceiver and untameable. Yoongi was unsure of what they meant by this as it was their children who were the liars. Even when he told the caregivers of the time he had with them, it never seemed like they thought he was telling the truth either.

It was some years before Yoongi was adopted again. Age thirteen going on fourteen. He was adopted by a young couple. Must have been between the ages twenty-two to twenty-five. He never got around to asking because as soon as he was there he was brought back. The couple seemed to want to prove to themselves that they could take care of another breathing being. That is what he gathered by overhearing them a few times. All it did was tear them apart in the end over disagreements on how to take care of him.

The next two times were practically the same. One was lonely while the other was another person trying to prove something to themselves. Yoongi was done with these humans and their selfish ways. He didn’t want to attempt to get close with them anymore when he knew that they would return him like a replaceable item in the end. 

Yet, another was trying to adopt him again. ‘I’m too old for this.’ He thought to himself when he was dragged into the office to be told someone was interested in him. Being twenty-five years old as a hybrid was considered old. Unadoptable. Plus he was on his fourth strike. A fifth- and by law- would mean he would have to be put to sleep. 

The weeks dragged on because of him constantly denying to see through with this person’s desire to adopt him. It was an actual decision between life and death. He thought about it though. Would he rather be stuck in here? Wasting away inclosed in white walls or to live out in the world just a little bit longer, if the person would let him out that was.

The introduction of you and the hybrid, who you now knew as Yoongi was, well, short and awkward. Was it to be expected? The short answer is yes. Yoongi seemed unfazed and distant right away which, in a way, you know he would be like this. The real question was, was he always going to be like this. You were new to each other, so feeling like strangers was going to be present for a while. 

The taxi ride home was silent. Nothing but the sound of wheels on the pavement with random songs playing on the radio softly. You wanted to make some kind of conversation with Yoongi, you did, but with awkwardness still lingering heavily in the air, it was difficult to start with anything. It was interesting to spot his ears out of the corner of your eye, twitching ever so often.

The climb up the stairs was just as silent. Nothing but the taps of feet with some huffs from you nearly the top. No matter how many times you’d walked up these four flights of stairs, you were sure to always be out of breath before reaching your door. 

By the time you reached your door, you were indeed out of breath, and with the last huff, you pulled out your key unlocking the door, pushing it open revealing the seemingly small apartment. “And home.” You spoke out as you began pulling your shoes off, placing them on a rack before slipping into house slippers. “Oh, here’s some slippers for you. If you want to wear them.” You already owned some for when you had guests but you went ahead and bought new ones specially for Yoongi. Looking at them now, they seemed a bit… small. Though it didn’t seem to matter as Yoongi slipped off the shoes the shelter provided and ignored the slippers. 

“I have a room for you ready.” You spoke again after a moment of silence. Seems silence between you two was something you were going to have to get used to. Walking through the kitchen and living area- either side had a room the same size. Though the room to the right used to be your storage and office space, you were able to move things around in your room for your desk and got rid of some stuff you’ve been meaning to. Now the once-office turned back to a bedroom. It was pretty bare besides the matching wood bed and dresser you’d bought.

Moving aside to the doorframe, allowing Yoongi in the room to inspect it. His eyes never seemed to stop taking in things. His ears moved with him as he looked around and his tail was low as the tip curled to one side. 

As he took in the new home, you took in his unique hair color. It was probably the Ragdoll genes but the contrast between his hair and the fur on his ears and tail were a bit different. His hair was silver-grey and as for the fur, it was a bit lighter in the same color. You wondered for a moment if his DNA was manipulative to make the animal features stand out more but you quickly shook the thought away. You didn’t want to make him uncomfortable even though it was just a thought. 

“There’s some clothes in the dresser. I wasn’t sure what you like so, there are a few things in the dresser. Just for until we go shopping.” The response you got was nothing but an ‘mhm’. Yoongi seemed uninterested but curious about the clothes you’d gotten. He wanted to know if it was the type they would get him. Well-fitted ones that rubbed and itched all over. As he pulled them out, sure enough, there were the ones he knew he would find but as he kept pulling out and unfolding the clothes he found some that were baggy and much softer. Something about watching him digging through the clothes felt endearing and it showed on your face with a small smile on your lips.

As you turned away to allow him to have some privacy you wondered to yourself what Yoongi would want to have for dinner.

Moving in Sims

For the past few days, I’ve been moving in Sims and setting up relationships. Among them was that Riddle Sim, from Twinbrook. Because I wanted to move in her niece – along with the niece’s yappy dog – I needed to make a sibling for Anna-Liza. Since I’d already saved that Racket Sim to my bin, I decided to just make him into her brother – after changing his name.  Then I gave him a daughter. This was a win-win for me, since this world comes with a generic graveyard. And I hate no-name graves. Not only did he help establish a relationship, but I got to kill him and add his tombstone to my cemetery! Go me!

Anyway, Anna-Liza is one of the town’s Censorious Triad and the editor of the town newspaper. One of the other two, card-carrying members is Madame Blanche Robichaux (shown here with her son, Marshal and his “no-good, floozy-of-a-wife,” Trixie. And Trixie’s “nasty, little flea-bitten cat.”). Trixie and Marshal were created by Webbymom of the 3 Musketeers, as part of the Sims Daily’s population thread. (She even made political pictures of him, when I whined, so he’s the mayor in this town. His “sainted” mum is CEO of the local business, while his” tart of a wife,” is a renown painter. As you can tell, by her comments, Madame Blanche is NOT a fan of her daughter-in-law or her cat, who are both actually, nice little Sims). The old lady is a Sim I found about 11 years ago, over on TSR. I liked her, because she was so ugly. I also created 2 more Sims for this family – the patriarch and a younger son. But they’re dead and fighting over in my graveyard. Prior to their deaths, the son got himself engaged to an “unacceptable” young lady, and was immediately booted out of the family. But they did bury him in the family plot – have to keep up appearances, don’t you know! - so he and his dad get to continue their feud for all eternity. (BTW, the 2 Sims suspected in their deaths are buried nearby, and all 4 of them HATE each other. So the cemetery is pretty lively at night!)

Then I moved in these Sims – Frederic D’Aimelefric and Fannie Bellefleur. These 2 were created by nengi65 for that hot pink apartment I showed you a while back. I have always liked them, because they’re not your typical “pretty” Sims. Anyway, she had them in the acting career track, but since I replaced the studio with my festival lot, I put them into Showtime careers. He’s a magician now, while she’s an acrobat. And to help them with their careers, I made him clumsy and forgetful, and her clumsy and a couch potato. I would have opted for chronic stage fright, but EA “forgot” to offer that as a trait. Stupid EA. Nengi described him as having rather grandiose visions of his own, non-existent talent, while Fannie was the stereotypical, dumb blonde. I liked that, so I kept it.

Then, replacing Amy Bull as the town fashionista, I made Felicity Plum. Cameranutz II had made a generic Sim by this name for this world, but I wanted someone with a tad more character. So here she is. She has absolutely no artistic ability at all, which will definitely help her career – or not. But since I’m not stupid enough to let her give me a make-over, it’s not my problem.

These Sims all originally came from Bridgeport – they were that Cook family. They are now known as the Thibodeaux family. The creators of this world did make a family for this world with that name, but again, they were typical do-gooder, pudding Sims. Unlike me, those ladies were not into conflict amongst their Sims. So I didn’t bother saving them. Anyway, believe it or not, other than giving these Sims some CC skins (Buckley-Ephemera Fresh skins) and those default replacement hairs that @maryjanesims3 has been so graciously sharing, and nicer make-up, these are EA Sims. (Well, I did give them some decent clothes). The first time I saw the two ladies, with just the new hair, I was shocked at how pretty they really are. So, there is hope for game Sims. The old fart is now known as Judge Roy. He’s still I the political track, and on the take. And his wife – now named Lacey – is still hoping for his early death.

This is a tiny house between the bistro lot and that Chocolate Restaurant. It was made by susieb, but I don’t think she made a family for it. Not that I would have downloaded them. Anyway, I did change out the exterior siding and the porch railing for CC that I have. And inside, I got rid of all the basegame crap and gave them some nicer stuff.

It now belongs to the 3rd member of the Censorious Triad – Muriel P. Finster. She was created by my friend, Alex – aka: Hellfrozeover – back when she was still playing TS3. While I was doing the other 2, I knew they needed a pal, and this Sim came to mind. I left her pretty much the way Alex created her, although I did change some of her traits. Since I made her the principle of my school, I decided to help her with her career, by giving her the “I despise you little rugrats!” trait.

Then, because the house has lots of room despite being on an itsy-bitsy lot, I decided she should have an adult son who’s moved back home. With his cat. To whom Muriel is allergic. Anyway, he’s a genetic resequencer working on a top-secret project. His mother has been frantically snooping through his notes, trying to figure out what he’s working on, but he’s up to her ways and has been leaving a bunch of nonsense laying around for her to find.

Next family I do, will be those Bagley’s from Riverview. I already made Ma Bagley’s husband and oldest son – who now reside in the graveyard. They’re the Sims suspected of killing the 2 Robichaux Sims. Anyway, the living ones will live out in my swamp and be moonshiners. Their houses are done, and I even gave them a still – aka: nectar-making thingie. But that will be another post.

Could you do something about how Theo's death changed Burr? You said that her death 'permanently changed Burr’s demeanor' and I can't find much about Burr's later years so I wondered if you could explain it to me. Thank you.

      Yeah, that sounds about right. A lot of the info we know about Burr in the last 20ish years of his life (after returning from Europe, so 1812-1836) has sort of been haphazardly cobbled together by historians, so you only really get a ‘clear’ picture across multiple Burr biographies. We know that he continued to practice law in New York, but most of the supplementary information we have comes from other people; first-hand accounts by friends, newspaper articles, anecdotes, etc. 
Burr himself was obscenely quiet during this time period, partly (I assume) to lay low from debt collectors & people who want to chastise him for being the evil mastermind who shot Hamilton in cold blood or whatever. And partly because he was depressed for a very long time, it seems.

    The first thing that should be noted is Theo’s death came about 6 months after her son (& Burr’s grandson) Aaron Burr Alston, who he was also very attached to & called him Gampy (Burr’s nickname was Gamp so he was Gampy ie. Little Gamp). Gampy’s death effected Burr in an entirely different way, because every instance we have of Burr interacting with children was largely positive—he loved children. After Gampy’s death he seemed to go out of his way to be kind to children & to spoil them with all of the treats and gifts he never got to give Gampy. Something extra sad to note is that he loved to give little coins to children (either out of his own pocket or a pot on his desk), and one of the gifts he had been stockpiling for Gampy was coins…

Now for Theo, I haven’t been able to find any of Burr’s letters to her during this time (I’m not sure if they even survived), but we know that he tried his best to console her & convinced her to be with him in New York. It took about 6 months for her to finally say yes, so he ordered a ship (The Patriot) & a family friend named Timothy Green (who also died on the ship) to escort her from SC to NY. They of course never made it be NY, and to this day not only do we not know what happened to the ship, but we literally don’t even know where the shipwreck is other than its probably somewhere off the coast of North Carolina. There were some theories about a possibly pirate attack (The Patriot was a former privateer ship) but Burr choose not to believe it.

Burr & Joseph Alston (her husband) took up a correspondence during this time (strangely, we have some of Alston’s letters but none of Burr’s seem to have been found) where they confided to each other about their worries. Alston makes a very poignant implication during one of the surviving letters where he says that Burr must feel “severed from the human race.”

Theo wasn’t just Burr’s daughter—she was his only child to survive to adulthood, and one of his closest political & social allies, considering that the majority of the country now hated Burr for the 1804 Duel and the 1807 Conspiracy. She was really all he had for comfort, & Burr constantly mentions how much he misses her (& Gampy) in his European Journal. I can only imagine how devastated he was.

Another note, Charles Burdett (Burr’s adopted son who I’ll talk about in a moment) published a book with some of Burr’s old letters (that he must have been personally given, because I haven’t seen them published anywhere else.) One letter was written during this time period to a woman named “Kate” & he basically admits being too depressed to reply to people.

Burr also allegedly spent weeks or even months visiting the docks every day with the hope that The Patriot might be there. The death of his daughter gained Burr a bit more public sympathy, but the attention was still largely negative. People treated him like a cryptid almost. Not just because he was notorious, but because he was so socially withdrawn that it was rare to see him in public.

In 1878, Charles Burr Todd wrote A General History of the Burr Family in America (with Genealogical Records from 1570 to 1878). It’s a handy book with some unique information about Burr that I have yet to see in any other biographies, including a full physical description of what Burr looked & sounded like in his later years ([HERE]), and an interesting essay that Judge John Greenwood, who worked under Burr as a clerk from 1814-1820, presented to the Manhattan Historical Society after Burr’s death ([HERE]).

The Greenwood essay mentions that Burr owned a cat, which he definitely did not own during his 4 years in Europe as there was no mention of it. This implies to me that he purchased and/or adopted it because he was lonely, because there is no other account of Burr owning a pet of any kind before or after this.

Burr also adopted two children around this time, Charles Burdett & Aaron Columbus Burr (Aaron Burr Colombe). ACB is a strange case because, despite having a very public adult life—no one can seem to agree if he was French or American? Or who his mother was? Or his birth year? Some sources say 1808 and others say 1816? It’s bizarre. People also can’t seem to agree whether Charles Burdett was born in 1814 or 1815. There is also a third child (Henry Oscar Taylor, born 1818) who is documented having lived with Burr by 1833.

All of these boys are a mystery because no birth or adoption certificate exists (did they even have those back then?) so it’s unclear where they came from, who their mothers were, or at what point they came into Burr’s life—Burr’s movement & the timelines of their birth make it a bit too hard to say for sure. My personal theory is that (regardless if they were biologically his or not) Burr chose to take these children in to try and alleviate his own loneliness.

One last thing of note about Burr’s later life is that in 1823 he chose to take in Luther Martin (the lawyer who argued his 1807 case), who had recently had a stroke and had nowhere to live. He took care of him until he passed away in Burr’s home in 1827.

Burr would of course die a little less than 10 years after that (the majority of it spent fighting his divorce & dealing with his own strokes). I wish I could write more about this time period, but that is truly all we know about it.

I guess the key takeaway from this is Burr ultimately devoted a lot of his time to charity work & helping others, most likely as a way to deal with grief or find meaning in his life again.

Hi, sorry this took forever for me to respond to, but I've been a bit busy over the holidays and then I accidentaly forgot about it. BUT- here I am and I have to say, this is really good question. I had to really think it over for a while.

This will be a long post, so here we go!

The Adults

- Old Deuteronomy is Abuela - mainly because I can't really see anyone else in the role. But I can't honestly say that he would make the same mistakes that Alma does in the movie.

- Jennyanydots is sort of a mesh between Pepa and Julieta - because I really see her as the Matriarch of the tribe. Loving, caring and super nice but also a bit stressed and frustrated over the younger cats and their shenanigans. Her gift is healing. She is married to Skimbleshanks who has no gift but is very loving and supportive of his wife.

- Bustopher Jones is part of this family too, though not based on any character from the movie. He used to have a wife- who did have a gift- but she's now dead and he's an in-law with no gift.

- Coricopat and Tantomile - also not based on any character on the movie, but c'mon I had to include them! They're twins and both have the same gift. They're both psychic and can make others do or hear what they do, but only by touch.

The Kids

- Macavity is Bruno - the oldest son of Old Deuteronomy, born with great powers but is seen as a bad person who's hurting the family with his gift rather than helping anyone. Although in my mind he's not as sympathetic as Bruno. His gift is controlling the weather, though he has more control over it than Pepa has in the movie, and he loves using his electricity.

- Demeter is Dolores - she was traumatized by Macavity when he was still part of the family and 'still hears him' even though he's gone. She's on-guard and anxious at times, but is also kind and sweet towards her family. She's also the oldest daugter of Jennyanydots and Skimbleshanks and her gift is reading people's emotions, though it's only on the people in close proximity and requires a lot of focus.

- Bombalurina is also part of the family, but she's not really based on any specific character from the movie. She's Demeter's younger sister and her gift is Super Strength.

- Jemima is Antonio - the youngest daughter of Jennyanydots and Skimbleshanks and the last one in the family to recieve a gift. She loves Tugger like a brother, looks up to him and wishes for him to have his own gift. Her gift is vocal control/can influence others with her song.

- Munkustrap is Luisa - the second oldest son of Old Deuteronomy and is groomed to be the leader of the family after he's gone. He's very hard-working, helps everyone who needs him, protects the family and puts everyone before himself, even though he's cracking under all the pressure he's putting on himself. His gift is sensing danger and trouble.

- Mistoffelees is Isabela - he's the son of Bustopher Jones, the twin brother of Victoria. He- like Macavity- is very powerful but living under the pressure of being perfect, good and well-behaved so people won't think he's like Macavity. Though he's secretly longing for a freer and more exciting life. His gift is just magic (honestly, I couldn't pick one. Just imagine he can learn all kinds of magic)

- Victoria is the daughter of Bustopher Jones, the twin sister of Mistoffelees, and she is also not based on any character from the movie. She's very kind, sweet and loves making friends and is betrothed with Plato, who she loves very much. Her gift is grace and agility.

- Rum Tum Tugger is Mirabel - the youngest son of Old Deuteronomy and is the only one who didn't get a gift. He tries very hard to act like he doesn't care about this and has created his own alter-ego to make other cats like him- but he really just wants to feel like he's part of the family.

I see a lot of No Powers Highschool AUs out there, but superheroing is half the fun to me. And yeah, technically, I’m pretty sure most of the Batfam have been to school, but I mean, at the same time? You’d have to squish their ages down, but I think it’d be wild! And also, it’s all the Batkids (and some Superkids because why not, they go to the same school in this AU, okay?), including Helena, Terry, Matt, etc. And yes, they all keep their backstories (as in, Terry and Matt are still McGinnis’s too, and all that.) Shenanigans

It was a hilarious bit started by Steph and encouraged by Dick, Jason, and Carrie that they should all stuff themselves into the smallest limo or helicopter possible and crawl out like clowns. It was funny, to be fair, but the bloodshed spilled because of it banned them from doing it again. The kids got split into two separate cars after that, but eventually went back to one big limo, except for those who’d prefer to keep their sanity and drive there on their own (assuming they have a licence).

This batch of kids, excluding Kara, Conner and Jon, are often referred to as the “Wayne kids”, or the “Gotham kids”. Sometimes Kara, Conner and Jon get called Gotham Kids as well, despite being from Metropolis and proud. They’re vocality from protesting against being called Gotham Kids earned them the nickname “Not-Gotham Kids”.

Damian, Helena, Colin, Matt, Jon and Cullen are one of Those groups. Often together, closely knit, all characters on their own, but together, they lose all braincells. Teachers love all of them individually (with the exception of Damian), but are absolutely terrified of them as a group.

The second group most like that would be the girls- Tam, Kara, Steph, Cass, Harper, Carrie and sometimes Barbara, Kate and Helena. Alone, they’re pretty good kids, but together their chaotic-ness knows no bounds.

Who are we kidding? All of these kids are like that. Put any two together, and you’re either going to see someone get stabbed, a glitter bomb explode, an impromptu dance session, or debate the pronunciation of “bologna” for an hour.

Due to Damian often claiming he’s the rightful heir as the blood son, Helena, Matt and Terry will often pipe up to remind him that he isn’t the only blood son (or daughter, in Helena’s case). This often causes problems, not because Damian attacks them (verbally or physically), but because Terry and Matt aren’t, in the public’s eye, biologically Bruce’s, so the kids often have to scramble to make up some excuse to outsiders, often settling with it being an inside joke.

In this AU, Terry and Matt go by “Futurebat and Futurebird” because Why Not? As for Conner and Jon both being Superboy... how about, we just keep it that way? Because, really, Why Not? The public dubs them both the “Superboys”, and there’s no need to change it for now. Sometimes Conner gets called the Superclone, but mostly they just differentiate by some variation of “Superboy One/Uno and Superboy Two/Dos”. Sometimes “Superteen and SuperPre-Teen” when Jon was a bit younger. Also, think of all the shenanigans that can arise from that. Amazing.

Damian, at first, had as much hate towards Helena (and eventually Terry and Matt when they learned of them as well) as he did towards Tim. But, Helena always found his anger a bit funny (so long as it wasn’t life-threatening, which it often was). She never wanted to “be the heir” to Batman or Catwoman. She just happened to be their kid, and she wanted her own hero persona anyway, aka The Huntress.

To explain the situation with Helena, Terry and Matt, I’d say Helena (who’s a few months younger than Damian) was raised by Bruce and Selina, but the two’s relationship was on-and-off, and there were long periods where Selina would solo-parent Helena and Bruce (or Alfred and/or Dick, really) would solo-parent Helena. Eventually, the two got their shit together and are currently in a loving relationship, but not married yet. Terry and Matt were, of course, kept hidden from Bruce, being raised by Warren and Mary in a loving family. Eventually, after the death of Warren, and Terry trying to strike out as a solo hero, and the discovery that his DNA matched Bruce’s rather than Warren’s, their story was revealed that Terry was planned to be “future Batman” by Amanda Waller (needless to say Damian did Not Like That). Terry confronted Bruce and told him about it, and eventually Matt would learn the truth as well.

The only people Damian actively calls by their first names are Jon, Colin and Helena. Helena is only because Damian didn’t want to admit she was a Wayne at first (even though her legal last name in this AU is Kyle-Wayne).

They have a lot of animals, some are permanent, some come and go, some are just strays they feed, but nothing will compare to the amount of cats they have. The majority are strays that stay outside of the manor, yes, but they have too many. Sometimes they’ll be walking down a street opposite side of Gotham, and see one of their cats. This isn’t even because Selina now lives with them, and she brought her cats with her. No, it’s because Dick, Barbara, Jason and Steph, among others, loved the idea of Catwoman being a crazy cat lady, so they kept getting her more cats, which, in turn, gave everyone a new cat. And Damian was not helping in the least bit. Selina at least tried to stop them from bringing more cats home, but Damian would smuggle them back in anyway. Bruce honestly wishes someone had a cat allergy so they would have an excuse not to have that many cats.

Helena is a dog person. She likes cats, but... Dogs.

The Batkids all fight over the right of getting to babysit Tiffany.

Cass is often called the Good Kid by teachers and staff. That is not true, the true Good Kid is Duke. This is because he’s the only one that can maintain his braincells even in a group... 90% of the time, anyway.

Half of these kids will vanish during school hours to go stop some crime even though Bruce has repeatedly told them not to do that. The other kids who are not superhero vigilantes or manage to respect said rule (which is not often) scramble to make excuses for them. No excuse has ever been something normal, but it works because “When have Wayne kids ever been normal?”

School events like dances and football games are awful. Some of the kids are aware going will be awful, and desperately try to get out of it, but someway, somehow, they always wind up there. It would have been chaotic enough just having the Gotham Kids go, but when they bring their friends too (Teen Titans, Young Justice, Outlaws, whomever), there’s no hope. Their classmates at school both fear and look forward to these events, depending on how they go down. On one hand, it’s the Waynes! You’re basically watching “Keeping up with the Waynes” in real life! On the other hand, oh god, don’t get caught in the crossfire, whatever you do, run for dear life if you must.

Amazingly, Dick is the only one who got permanently banned from these events. And he didn’t even do anything. Well... anything as bad as his siblings, anyway.

They have all gotten suspended at least once, whether they are a Good Kid or not. Jason is actually one of the Good Kids so long as his siblings aren’t around to annoy him, but he got caught with a gun once, and barely escaped getting expelled... well, actually, he didn’t barely escape it, he was a Good Kid after all. But it was still on the table. That was, miraculously, the only time he got suspended.

Damian, surprisingly, does not have the highest suspension rate, but he does have the highest “called into the office” rate. You can guess all the reasons- sneaking pets into school, sneaking wild animals into school, having knifes and/or other weapons on him, belittling other students (he’s not intentionally trying to bully them, but, he can’t help but point out what they’re doing wrong), arguing and insulting teachers, ditching class (for vigilantism of course), etc.

The highest suspension rate goes to Dick, before he went to college. Mostly it was just due to how often he would skip classes and not turn in homework, but occasionally he would get into fights (to defend another kid, usually). The schools hadn’t yet gotten tolerable to the chaos that is the Waynes yet.

I suppose I should list the Good Kids. They are as follows: Cass, Duke, Jason, Luke, Helena, Cullen, Jon and Tiffany (she is Small and Innocent).

The Bad Kids: DAMIAN, Conner, Steph (she likes causing trouble for fun), Carrie (same as Steph, but more class clown-y) and Terry (mostly when he was younger).

The Bad Kids Sometimes: Harper, Timothy Fox, Kara

The Neutral Kids: Tam, Tim (depends on whether he’s crashed from lack of sleep or caffeine overdose), Dick, Matt, Barbara

The “Troubled” Kids (don’t label them that schools, rude): Colin, Cullen too technically but he’s more “Good”, Kate, literally all of them depending on the time of day (or night, specifically)

Abyss (Netflix Original)

Abyss is a spherical orb that has the power to raise the dead- with a kick: If you were a good person, you are resurrected younger and more attractive. If you were a bad person, your body could change into any form (generally you are at least decades older). 

This is all well and good, until kind-hearted (yet unattractive) Cha Min is resurrected as a young hottie and given the Abyss. He finds an old man dead in the road and uses it to save him- unwittingly resurrecting a violent serial killer on his way to murder Cha Min’s best friend and lifelong crush, Criminal Prosecutor Se Yeon. 

Cha Min resurrects the vain and petty Se Yeon (who returns to a body identical to her professional rival) and together they must hunt down the murderer- whatever his new face may be.

The home she and her brother live in is cramped and small- doubly so once she finds out her brother has been living with a wife he never told her about. Ji-Ho is forced out of her home and- due to her financial situation- moves in with a “young woman” she’s only met via text- Nam Se-Hee.

Events unfold that will force Ji-Ho and Se-Hee into a corner from which they can only find one way out:: Enter into a strictly contracted marriage, absent love, romance, or sex, and keep up their ruse around family and friends for a period of two years.

But as time goes on, the cold and robotic Se-Hee and hopeless Ji-Ho begin to develop feelings for one another beyond that of a Landlord and a Tenant. It is only too easy for them to slip into the roles of Husband and Wife.

There is a piece of the story Jiang Xiaoyu and Hua Wuque do not know: they are orphans of the same tragedy, in which the divine hero Jiang Feng spurned the love of both leaders of Yihua Palace for a beautiful servant named Hua Yuenu. Hua Yuenu was forced to commit suicide and Jiang Feng killed himself rather than submit to the Ladies of Yihua–

Yihua Palace’s plot is a simple (if OTT) act of vengeance against Jiang Feng’s memory:: Force one brother to murder the other, then reveal to Hua Wuque the sin he has committed and let it drive the boy insane.

The Lost Tomb**

50 years ago, a group of Changsha grave robbers known as the “Mystic Nine” dug out manuscripts of the location of treasures from the Warring States period, but soon after almost the entire group was hunted down and slaughtered.

In the present, the young grandchild of the sole survivor, Wu Xie, discovers a secret within his grandfather's notes as well as half of a silk manuscript that may reveal the location of the lost tomb. But there is one problem- the other half of the manuscript is held by a shady organization of tomb raiders eager to break in and steal whatever cultural relics are inside the tomb.

Wu Xie has a "National Treasure” moment and decides that in order to stop the objects in the tomb from vanishing into the black market he will break in first and recover whatever is inside (’I’m going to steal the Declaration of Independence...’). 

Wu Xie is helped on his journey by his beloved “Third Uncle��� Wu Sanxing, his uncle’s right hand man Panzi, and the mysterious Xiao Ge - a tomb raider who seems to know of traps before they are sprung and whose hand has been mutilated in a way not seen among tomb robbing families in over a century.

They expected to find a lost tomb, perhaps chase away some thieves, and learn about an exciting piece of lost history. What they did not expect was for the tomb to strike back, the dead to rise, and the past to fight and keep what secrets it holds.

Oh My Emperor

Oh My Ghost

Acknowledging it isn’t an ideal arrangement, Soon-Ae decides help Bong Sun and focuses her seductive attentions on the man Bong Sun is secretly in love with. Bong Sun reluctantly agrees, hoping Soon-Ae’s influence will make her more outgoing and self-assured.

There are two problems with the girls’ plan once it goes into motion: Bong Sun’s colleagues worry she has had a mental breakdown and refuse to take advantage of her; and the longer Soon-Ae is in Bong Sun’s body the more she remembers of her own brutal assault and murder.

-Roger adores the little lady, mainly because she kept her promise even though she literally had no reason to. 

-Find her antics endearing and hilarious, especially since she’s navigating the world as a child would without all of the hard adult stuff

-At first he considered himself an uncle to her and he slowly felt close like a second father

-It was even better when he found out that she was the closest connection he has to his son so he can watch over them both at the same time

-Gives her some pretty good life advice to help her along. He dubs them life cheat codes.

-He actually thought she was screwing with him when she didn’t recognize who he was, until he realized all of his wanted posters were taken down in order to erase him from history but not his face. 

-Tells her stories about the Pirate King, the King of the Seas, and the Demon Blade. 

-She LOVES his stories and will sit for hours listening to them. 

-Will train her at some point. 

-He acts as guardian angel to her and she’s able to talk to him about certain things she can’t talk to anyone else about ie. Tesoro, her strength, fears, and he wants to make sure she’s safe. 

-Reminds him a little bit of Blume when she’s older and will be with her every step of the way when she’s a teenager getting through her feelings and other hardships. 

-Will also guide Ace through her. 

-Has on several occasions sneak into the Whitebeard home and leave things for the pair. Ie gifts, favorite snacks, toys, books, and later a log prose for Ace when he decided to sail off on his own. 

-Enjoys hearing her adventures and knows she’s going to be a great pirate someday. 

-Enjoys from afar how much she terrorizes Smoker. 

-Will get cake from time to time knowing of her sweet tooth but does introduce foods to her like grilled sea king.

-Delighted that she thinks of him when she gets leftovers from the Baratie. 

Relationship with Void

-Roger and Void go WAY back. 

-Roger loves teasing the man and vice versa. 

-He’s used to Void’s blunt humor and enjoys his company. 

-“Kidnapped” Void so he can travel with him and his crew for a while. 

-Roger’s personality is more like a wild dog whereas Void’s personality is like a cat. 

-Will check on Void from time to time usually with some like ice cream or cookies. 

-Although Void will NEVER admit it, Roger is like a brother to him, Roger knows this and is flattered. 

-It took awhile for Roger to gain Void’s trust but also knows there’s a reason.

-Saved Void’s life on one occasion and vice versa

-Beat the living shit out of Void’s brother when he discovered what he did to him and his parents. 

-Compliments Void’s “battle scars” a lot.

-One of the few people to ever see Void’s “goofy” side outside of his kingdom. 

-After his “Execution” he hid out in Void’s Secret Kingdom. 

-Was heartbroken when he heard about Rouge’s death and how he couldn’t get to her in time.

-Was ready to go out there, swords drawn and guns out but was forced to stay in the kingdom by Void who reminded him that if anyone knew of her and Ace’s existence, they would both be killed 

-Roger cried for weeks when he learned what happened to his wife. Void had the memorial specially made in an area where no one really went so Roger could grieve in peace. Roger never forgot this.

-tries to get Void to forgive Whitebeard. Void refuses to and wholeheartedly believes that Edward is partly to blame for Blume’s death and Flora’s miscarriage. 

-This doesn’t extend to his crew or Flora herself though. Whitebeard has tried to make amends and every attempt was shattered.

-Roger knew it was serious when Whitebeard sent Void a chest containing cookies, pastries, and cakes only for it to be returned with swords embedded through it. 

-Void knows of Ace’s existence but has no idea what he looks like but has set up a trust in his name for when he’s older as the boy’s godfather. It was how Ace got his first ship. Ace doesn’t know who his mysterious benefactor was but insisted on an address or location. Void received a heartfelt thank you note that he treasured ever since. 

-“There’s hope in the boy, thank God he’s nothing like his weird ass father,” 

“Love you too, Void!” 

-The pair will sit and talk about the old days together with hot sake all the time.

-The older citizens of Void’s kingdom know Roger as Lore and Void’s brother, the new citizen whom all to their knowledge know that the Pirate King is dead, have not made the connection but to be safe, Roger is only known as Lore and will wear a red cloak in town and in the palace until he’s around Void or Matilda.

Here's a girl who, in my opinion, has probably one of the most interesting stories of my ocs

The tragedy in young Madison's life started when she was only a few months old and both her biological parents sadly past away in a car accident. Now in the care of her older brother Paris, who was just shy of 19 at the time, Maddie was raised as best as the young man could handle, and boy! Could he not handle it. Especially when it came to her shock diagnosis of Meningococcal meningitis. Suddenly, she was whisked away into intensive care, where she remained for weeks. She was touch and go for a while, blood vessel damage becoming so great that she ended up with both her legs amputated below the knee. And, of course, poor Paris was stuck with the medical bills, on top of...well everything else. The full details of what Paris did to keep him and his sister afloat is best saved for his separate ref, but, safe to say, it wasn't pretty. It was around this time that one Mr Joseph Collard came into their lives. A bouncer at the, uh, "club" Paris worked at, Joseph had grown a real soft spot for the young man, which grew into a soft spot for little Maddie once he met her. Which eventually led to him officially adopting her when she was around three years old. Of course, Paris was still in her life, as the three moved across the country to start a new life far away from the old. But not everything was perfect. You have to understand, witnessing and going through the things Maddie did in the first five years of her life...It was traumatising. And the thing with that childhood trauma: she doesn't remember any of it. It just affected her in a major way. This led to her being what teachers would call "a problem child". Acting out, unable to control her emotions properly, prone to meltdowns. Plus, being over attached to her brother and father. And not liking when things came between them. Or PEOPLE for that matter. She reacted VERY poorly to her brother in law when they first met. It had always been just her, Paris and Papa. And, if she had her five year old way, it would remain just them, thank you very much. But, unfortunately, her brother HAD to go and fall head over heels for the man. Honestly, she could do without seeing the way Nick would kiss him goodnight when dropping him off from a date. Then came the horrible news: Paris was moving in with him. Maddie cried and begged, trying to offer alternatives; like Nick moving in with them! But, Paris calmly explained how impossible that would be, what with Nick having a daughter and their apartment only having two bedrooms. Paris even light-heartedly added that this would mean that Maddie would finally have her own room. But of course, this caused the girl to throw a tantrum and lock herself in said room. She didn't talk much to Paris for a while, though she did eventually come out her room. Paris, of course, was heart broken, but figured (more like hoped) that she'd come around eventually. Joseph... was stuck in the middle. Happy for his best friend, but unsure of what to do about his daughter. Like any misguided dad, his mind eventually turned to one solution: a pet! Maybe a pet could knock the blues out of Maddie. So, he took her to the shelter and told her "pick out anyone you want! Well, uh....so long as our apartment complex approves of em". They ended up coming home that day with a little cream calico scruff ball with mucky eyes and a scratchy little yowl of a voice, which Maddie named Bubblegum (Joseph could only assume this was due to Maddie's near obsession with the candy). Bubblegum did help some, but ultimately, it was time who was the biggest healer, and she did eventually open back up to her brother, though she would remain cold to Nick for some time to come. It was around the time that they got the news that Paris and Nick were getting married (gross) that a little white cat rushed into their apartment, causing a middle aged man to rush after her and crash right into Joseph, the man haphazardly catching him in a dip. The moment they locked eyes, Maddie had but one thought: "Oh god, it's happening again". Robin, however, proved himself a lot better than Nick. Well, for starters, he only lived across the hall from them, so he wouldn't be dragging her father TOO far away from her. And he also had a young son, Phoenix, who was pretty cool! So maybe, just maybe...she'd give this one her blessing...begrudgingly... She would grow to be happy she did.. As a young adult, Maddie has chilled out A LOT. She loves her fathers and her little brother (though, sometimes she acts too cool for them). She's buried the hatchet with her brother in law, just in time to welcome her nephew into the family (plus she loves to tease Poppy by calling herself her "step aunt"). Then came the day her fathers brought sixteen year old Natalie home. Both agreeing that they were too old to handle a younger child, they had had their hearts set on adopting an older teen and, well, they fell in love with Natalie just about as fast as they fell in love with each other. Mads is fiercely protective of her little sister. Perhaps her brother rubbed off on her in that aspect...
