My Top 10 Games For E3 2019
E3 2019 is on the horizon and you know what that means; endless predictions and guesses and what the hell is gunna be going down from the 8th to the 13th apparently.
A bunch of companies are having their own showcases and conferences except for Sonyand I believe EA this year but I’m not really gunna run through all of the different conferences I’m more so just gunna run through the games that I am most excited about.
10// Session
It’s been almost a decade since we have seen a good skateboarding game on console or PC. Skate 3 released in 2010 and since then nothing has been able to dethrone it as the last well executed skateboarding game.
Tony Hawks Pro Skater sure as hell didn’t even come close. If anything that game made us have even less hope for the genre. But then along came Session, announced at 2018’s E3 slated for a late 2019 release on PC and Xbox.
I hope that we get to see more of Session during Xbox’s conference along with a look into a campaign for the game as well as a final release date.
9// Animal Crossing
I am the most excited about this one mostly because of the Switch’s portability and this will be the perfect drop in drop out game to have on the go with you.
I’m really hoping for an Island or vacation themed one this time around, I think that would be so cool.
8// Control
Control looks all kinds of bizarre, creepy, fun and holy shit the physics they have in this game is just absolutely crazy.
Destructible environments, almost everything is interact-able and they really showcased it at the end of their trailer and where she picks up the projector and shoots it at the wall and each of the boxes and papers all act independently.
I am amazed with this game both technically and from a story standpoint, it looks like a descent into madness mixed with a little government conspiracy.
I’m really excited to see where this one goes and it does look like it will be another PS4 exclusive. Sony is KILLIN IT with the single player experiences.
7// Biomutant
I have had my sights on Biomutant for what it feels like years now. I have eagerly been watching and awaiting more news and insider looks for it. It looks like so much fun, it’s got style, zany humor, really funny narration and the game play looks really promising.
Not only that but the world that your creature exists in is really fascinating with all of these spliced creatures all over the place and interacting with each of them to find out how the world went to a over-polluted corrosive wasteland is sparkin’ some interest in me.
I have a feeling we will get another gameplay demonstration as well as a release date but I’m honestly not expecting this one to come out until 2020 or 21.
This is one of those games that I’m fine with if it takes forever to come out just because I really want it to succeed.
6// Outer Worlds
Space is yours to explore, for a price. Impossibly cool looking monster combinations, beautiful unearthly landscapes and a crazy cast of characters on top of that and you got yourself a new favourite to sink only what I can assume will be over a hundred hours.
They showcased some game play for it and the writing is just awesome. The fact that they has the crowd and myself laughing without and voice acting done in the game yet is a testament to their comedic writing.
What I love most about this game is there’s no real good and evil. You play the game how you want to play it. If that means going along with the story and being a boring upstanding citizen you can do that.
If that means literally murdering actors because of a terrible performance and then disintegrating the director you can do that. Either way you are still rewarded in some fashion for your quests and I just think that is so cool paired with all the other face swapping goodness.
5// Pokemon: Sword & Shield
This will be my first Pokemon game in probably a decade. The last one I played was I think was Ruby and Sapphire.
I’m hoping that Pokemon gets some love during the E3 Direct and we get to see a little bit more of the Region and possibly a look at the starter evolutions.
Y’all know I’m #grookeygang for life. Doesn’t matter what it’s final evolution is look at that little bastard.
They look like they are introducing more RPG elements and the Pokemon franchise could use a refreshing new implication of their pattented Pokemon formula. Hence the reason I haven’t gotten a Pokemon up until this release.
Here is to hoping that they showcase more of the technical improvements beyond just content. I do have a feeling some of the millions of Pokemon IP’ currently being released might get talked about instead though.
4// Cyberpunk 2077
This will come as no surprise it’s in my top 5.
It’s in everybody’s top 5.
It’d be doing this game a dis-service to not have it in your top 5.
CD Project Red, the people who made the Witcher 3, have been working on this game for a millennia now and last year it was showcased and said to be playable from start to finish at that point.
I think we will get a final showcase of all the polishing and finishing touches they’ve put on the game and set it up for a release window.
And I mean what’s not to love about this game?
The concept of cyberpunk the style alone is already badass but a whole dystopian world set around that and knowing that Project Red can do with world building, questing, dynamic abilities and interactions.
If you ask me I don’t think it’s going to be coming until late 2020. This is a game that NEEDS to be perfected. It needs to have a good release. People have been anticipating this game for years, including myself.
My wallet is going to be so empty...
3// Astral Chain
This is what I want to see from Nintendo!
No more Sequelitis, finally an interesting fully developed IP and it looks absolutely badass.
The world, the intricate fighting system, badass robo-cop persona’s on leashes, being a cool ass detective.
This game just looks amazing. We need to see more of it. We know almost nothing about the story so far or even how expansive this game is shaping up to be.
YOU GET TO RIDE ROBO-DOG MECHS! whats not to love?
But hey it’s directed by the dude who did Nier Autmoata and that game was a hidden gem for a while. I’m really hoping this game get to bask in the spotlight a little bit more.
I want this game to be successful so bad. As fun as the Mario and Zelda games can be I know that the Switch can have some serious independent releases like this one.
Astral Chain my just be the trendsetter the Switch needs to prove that it’s not just the Mario console, it’s something that can hold it’s own up against the Xbox and Playstation.
2// The Evil Within 3
This is my wildcard.
I know next to no one is anticipating this game but I LOVE THIS FRANCHISE.
I love the world they have created, the resident evil vibes, the terrifying distorted monsters, the twisted visuals that send a chill down your spine.
The ever looming threat of always being hunted, watched or taunted. The Evil Within masters the atmosphere of never feeling truly safe. You are always on guard and that makes for very interesting game play in a horror narrative.
There was worlds of improvements made between the first and second game and I loved each of them dearly. We were left with a couple unanswered questions at the end of the second game and I really want to see the story come to a close and finish off the trilogy.
I’m not expecting and game play or even a release window but at some point during Bethesda’s conference I really really want to see this pop up. We know they’re not announcing the new Elder Scrolls so there is definitely room there for a surprise release.
This is just me being really really desperate for a third game, the second game had such an incredible world and we saw the characters grow so much it would be a shame to see all of that get stuck in just the second game.
Not to mention that this is the most fun I’ve had playing an actually scary game in a long time. Let’s make it happen Bethesda
1// Square Enix: Avenger’s Project
The long awaited and incredibly mysterious Avenger’s project form Square Enix is the cherry on the cake of this E3.
Square Enix is hosting their own panel and while I know majority of it is going towards the 7 remake and possibly a new final fantasy announcement they would be just plain dumb to not have this ready to announce.
With the MCU concluding it’s current phase with Endgame now is the perfect time to showcase this project. It has been two years since we had the teaser and people were going bat-shit then, imagine what would happen now.
The crazy thing is that this will be the first part of a multi-game deal between marvel and Square Enix which means that this game will just serve as the starting block.
We have seen Marvel make an incredible comeback into the gaming universe and they may be doing exactly that. Creating a gaming universe to pair along side their cinematic universe. This one just might surpass PS4 spidey though. It’s got some serious hype going behind it and we might just finally get to see it at E3 this year.
The Wrap-Up
Anyways that is my top 10 list for this years E3. Are they the biggest announcements or releases? Not by a long shot!
But they are the ones that as of right now I am the most excited about!
Are there anything that you think I’ve missed or forgot about? Are you one of the only other Evil Within fans that want a third instalment?
There’s gotta be someone else out there wanting this as bad as I do!!

THERE IS SO MUCH VALUE IN MHW’S REPLAYABILITY
So hey, I made a fun little video on Monster Hunter World because GOD DAMNIT MHW has one of the best games to replay.
MHW has an impressive 14 different weapon classes to choose from and you have ALL of them available to you from the very first time you select a weapon.
Your weapon is crucial in Monster Hunter. You build it, create a relationship with it, it becomes part of your identity as a hunter.
And then you just might get bored of it and drop it all together.
-
THIS IS WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS
I stopped playing MHW for a while and I rocked the Hammer for 40 - 50 hours of gameplay. But I eventually got the itch for bashing some dino dome and jumped back into it but I decided to pick up a new weapon; the Long Sword.
The beautiful part about it is that there was no punishment, no incredible set-back, no huge dropoff and I DIDN’T HAVE TO RE-START THE ENTIRE GAME!
But you do have to grind the weaker monsters to build that weapon up to where you’re leveled so you go back and fight a Jagraas or a Tobi Kadachi just to watch yourself die.
Humiliatingly.
-
The beauty, true beauty, of using a new weapon is that you have to re-learn the monster’s mechanics and gimmicks. What was once your strength now may be your weakness.
You’re not as invincible switching form the Lance. You have to get closer switching from the Bow. Everything is different.
This creates a new experience, almost a new game.
That is why I love Monster Hunter so much. It doesn’t punish you for trying something new or hide possibilities behind paywalls. It simply gives you everything and let’s you do the exploring and developing on your own.

IT’S THAT TIME FOR DLC PREDICTIONS AGAIN
E3 2019 is right around the corner and Nintendo is playing nice so y’all know that that means. DLC FIGHTER PREDICTIONS!!
I have to main ideas for who might be announced at E3, or at least the next fighter that gets released if not at E3.
-
THE MONSTER HUNTER
Nintendo has had a long standing relationship with the Monster Hunter franchise, primary releasing with them for a majority of titles, and with the announcement of Iceborne MH World is looking pretty good!
This could also be the possibility of MH World coming to switch. That would be a huge announcement for Nintendo and yes the graphics would take a bit of a hit and the online might need some work to function well but it would be an awesome portable game!
-
STEVE FOR SMASH
I know that Steve is far from a crowd favourite, easily, but with Minecraft celebrating their 10 year anniversary and teasing announcements on their twitter this could be the perfect time for Steve to enter the Ultimate Roster.
Nintendo and Microsoft have been playing nice for the past year or so and Minecraft was their first big cross-play game between the two companies and Steve in Smash would be the perfect representation of their partnership!
-
THEY PRETTY SIMILAR
I am definitely leaning more towards Monster Hunter than Steve but either way I would still be happy. I think that both characters would be worthy entries for the series.
It is interesting that both these character’s come from games that rely heavily crafting mechanics. I dive into how each of them might work in the video above.
I got my money down on these two for who they announce at E3. If they announce anyone at all and don’t make me look like an ass...I’ll probably just look like an ass.

HOW WILL MOZE’S ABILITIES WORK IN BORDERLANDS 3?
So we have seen both Amara’s and Zane’s skill trees at work and they are a clusterfuck of dynamic awesomeness.
Amara has three different abilities all revolving around astral projection and the use of her badass Plasma Vishnu arms. A projectile, a bandit pancake making ground pound and a Maya copycat stasis bubble.
They all have the same origin and use the arms, which is really cool to have that variety.
Zane has three different abilities that all revolve around tech but once again they are three completely different abilities. A Zero clone that shoots and you can teleport to, SNTNL your not do friendly shoot-ya-in-tha-face bot buddy, and a holo-shield that can change elements and other fun schtuff.
All of his abilities revolve around the use of Tech and for the most part disruption. Makes sense for a Hyperion Hitman.
So that leaves me wondering…
HOW IS MY GIRL GUNNA HAVE THREE ABILITIES WITH A 10-TON WALKING DEATH MACHINE?

HOW THE HELL DOES HER SKILL TREE WORK?!
So we have seen both Amara’s and Zane’s skill trees at work and they are a clusterfuck of dynamic awesomeness.
Three actions skills? UH YES PLEASE.
--
Amara has three different abilities all revolving around astral projection and the use of her badass Plasma Vishnu arms. A projectile, a bandit pancake making ground pound and a Maya copycat stasis bubble.
They all have the same origin and use the arms, which is really cool to have that variety. Same goes for good ol’ Zane Flynt.
--
Zane has three different abilities that all revolve around tech but once again they are three completely different abilities. A Zero clone that shoots and you can teleport to, SNTNL your not do friendly shoot-ya-in-tha-face bot buddy, and a holo-shield that can change elements and other fun schtuff.

So that leaves me wondering...
HOW IS MY GIRL GUNNA HAVE THREE ABILITIES WITH A 10-TON WALKING DEATH MACHINE?!
Is it just going to be a different attachment for Iron Bear? We saw her use digi-claws in the most recent trailer which is a new addition! Are we going to have an option between three different mechs like we on some Titanfall shit? One that is mobile, an all around and a beefy tank?
This continues to confuse me. I keep trying to wrap my head around what other two abilities she could have.
Even Fl4k’s makes sense if he has three pets to choose from BAM each pet gets a tree but Moze only had ONE MECH. How does this shit work?
--
A part of me is assuming that they:
A) Don’t have the pet A.I fleshed out enough for Fl4k to be shown in the gameplay event
B) Also have no idea what they are doing with our badass bot jock!
Any ideas? Anyone? I’ve lost sleep over this...

I DON”T HATE THE SONIC MOVIE
There has been a lot of talk about the new Sonic move and I mean A LOT, both good and bad.
In my humble, little does it matter, opinion; I think this is going to do more good than it will harm for the Sonic franchise.
Sonic has always had a consistency problem and this movie is no stranger to that especially in the design but for once, FOR ONCE, we might get Sonic’s personality and potential down to a T.
Sonic stories are almost always a long shot and I don’t think that this movie will be the exception. Not even close. What I do think, however, is that this movie will provide exceptional base material for how we will see Sonic and his personality become portrayed over the following years.
We see a lot of video game movies flop, some worse than others *cough* *cough* Mario Bros. *cough* *cough* but I think this one will rise above a majority of the others and breathe some well needed life into the franchise and the character himself.
Plus y’know Jim Carrey is in this playing Robotnik for some god known reason. I’m not going to argue it! I will gladly accept Carrey with open arms in this movie because he is bringing back the classic “Jim Carrey” persona and I dig it.

Zombies and Burly Biker Dudes? SIGN ME UP!
I am so excited to finally start Days Gone, I have some really high hopes for this game. We have seen open world zombie games not fail...but also not blow anybody away.
I really like the realistic gritty atmosphere the game seems to have and as far as I know there is A LOT of realism. Almost everything but y’know, the living dead all walkin’ around looking to fuck your day up.
Join me as I dive deep into the world of “Freakers” and burly biker dudes who are way more men than I could ever dream to be over on SuperOdd! I’ll see you there!

I finally made it to the big city that I had no idea even existed! Plus we get to meet up with our old BFF!
This game is starting to prove more and more difficult with each interaction but the way they scale up your kit and not necessarily your power is really interesting. It doesn’t give you a leg up in damage a lot of the time but more so a leg up in mobility and the ability to learn new uses of the upgrade to your kit.
I dig that.

I have been ranting endlessly about the new playable vault hunters and just how much I LOVE their designs and personalities and yes, I am saying that without even hearing a word of dialogue. From any of them.
The team at Gearbox has done an amazing job at crafting personality into the designs of these characters and making each of them so uniquely distinguishable.
So I made a video talking about exactly those things.

THIS GAME CONTINUES TO IMPRESS THE HELL OUT OF ME
I have been playing Hollow Knight for the past week or so, I know I’m late to the game, I just want to be prepared for when Silksong drops!
One thing that wins me over super easily is style. I love indie games because they so often excel in this area and Hollow Knight has style in ACES. The hand drawn style and having the ability to combine cute with deadly creates a type of humor only achieved by games from Behemoth Studios. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were an influence for those that made Hollow Knight.
Not only that but I have mad respect for games that just throw your ass right into the trenches and expect you to learn on your own, they present you with a simple enemy and simple platforming elements but the rest is up to you after that.
NO HAND HOLDING
Hard vs. easy mode is a hot topic nowadays but I think Hollow Knight is that perfect middle ground where a new enemy is difficult, you understand it, maybe die a time or two then you try again and you nail it. But the BEST part is by far the punishment for dying.
You don’t lose progress, you don’t restart the mission, you lose all your currency and your ability to heal. THAT IS SO FUCKING COOL. I loved how Dark Souls did this where you have to go re-collect your souls but having to fight your own dead soul to get your earnings back is HELLA COOL.
I still have A TON more to go through but it has created an amazing first impression on me. If you want to see more of me rambling while playing it I have some lets play videos kickin it over on Superodd; my youtube channel.

I ABSOLUTELY loved this game! It easily hits as one of my top indie games I have ever played. I rambled a bit at the end of this play through but I admire this game so much for how unbelievably accurate the representation of mental illness was. It was a present element from the first few minutes to the very end and it’s now just Mae that deals with them, majority of the main characters do.
Some games play on mental illness and take one of two routes:
Direct Approach: Upfront and hits hard and is able to dive deep into certain aspects but sometimes comes off as a PSA more than an enjoyable experience
Coy Approach: Where you tie in mental illness as a side element to characters or the plot but the biggest downside is that it feels like parents trying way to hard to relate to it. You know when you watch a “teen movie” and they’re all supposed to be normal teenagers but there is now way in hell anybody actually talks like that? It’s like that.
Night in the Woods’ introduction of mental illness felt 100% natural and like they existed with the characters as a part of them. It was subtly introduced and then slowly began to drive the story as you unveil everyone’s backgrounds. A lot of the time I could relate to Mae with some of her struggles and that is what both approached above are drastically missing.
TLDR; Props to Finji & IF on some incredible writing. You guys are rad.

It is going to be hard to beat Jack in sheer character. He had an undoubtedly likeable level of charisma that even though you knew he was out of his mind ya still wanted to kind of route for the crazy bastard.
Judging the Calypsos by their cover...doesn’t look like they’re gunna out-do Jack. We don’t need to out Jack the Jack. I really want to see if Gearbox can pull off a villain that both has that zany borderlands humour and manages to give me the shivers.
We heard reports saying that this borderlands is gunna get daaaaaaaark, way more dark than any of the previous instalments, and these two scream dark to me. That may be because this literally looks like a photo shoot for a post apocalyptic punk band but nevertheless I got a bad feeling it’s about to get all Game of Thrones up in September and we are going to see some of our favourites take the fall.

She may be the least picked Vault Hunter but I got a certain pace in my heart for under-eye streaks, the Gorillaz look and all of that attitude!
It wasn’t much of a debate if you ask me, I really like her armor design and she seems like shes got some bite to her which I think will just be hilarious. Plus y’know...BIG ASS MECHZILLA running through all the different planets? Yes please!

I love this group shot. Borderlands has always lived off its personality and it looks like they put in a lot of time crafting each of the playable character's.
I was a huge fan of the unique dialogue in The Pre-Sequel and I hope they just continue to evolve on that. Although I'm not sure how they will go about it beyond just having echo recordings...
