AU where Jason ends up getting thrown back in time, like Martha and Thomas are still alive and Bruce is a toddler back in time, maybe after the confrontation at the end of Under the Red Hood. He gets settled, perhaps he's mostly mute due to the damage to his throat, and is like 'fuck it, I'm gonna work for the Waynes' and applies to be a butler. Alfred vets him obviously, does the most thorough background check and what he finds is a heart working, kind hearted young man down on his luck (Jason still loves Crime Alley and gives what he can, isn't a crime lord anymore, lives in a shitty apartment, volunteers at shelters and the like, is a handyman in his building and is always repairing shit for his neighbors) so Alfred approves him.

Bruce, who is a toddler and has yet to lose all his emotional competence, gets attached to Jason immediately and is always following him around as Jason tries to clean and shit lmao. Bruce chatters away and toddles behind Jason wherever the fuck he is, and Jason nods along as he's dusting and sweeping and cleaning. At first, Thomas and Martha were a little wary of how much Bruce loved Jason, thinking maybe Jason was doing something like emotional manipulation but no, kids just fucking love him.

Jason...has no clue what is going on, what his life has become, why he even applied to work with the Waynes to begin with. He's just going along with it because the pay is really good (obviously, cuz they're so fucking rich) and he's keeping just enough to keep himself afloat and the rest, he's finding ways to give back to Crime Alley. Martha and Thomas and Alfred know, obviously, and it just helps them warm up to him all the more.

He works for them for a few years, at one point Thomas convinced Jason to get surgery for his throat so talking no longer hurts and he can actually talk more. Then on the night they go to the theater, Jason follows them. In that alleyway, Joe Chill draws his gun and Jason tackles him to the ground. Martha is clutching Bruce close, scooped him against her chest and his little arms around her neck, both of them trembling, Thomas is in front of them and guarding his wife and son with his own body. Jason takes a couple shots to the chest before wrestling the gun out of Chill's hands. He grabs the gun, points it at Chill's head with one hand and with the other calls the cops, who are there in minutes.

It's only after Chill is in handcuffs and a cop is attempting to talk Jason down ("It's over, son. You did good. You can relax now, everyone's safe.") that he drops the gun, realizes he's been shot, and just bolts. Thomas tries to run after him, he just saved hiz and his family's lives, but even injured, Jason outruns him.

Thomas, Martha, and Bruce are all understandably shaken as hell. Bruce is mildly traumatized and inconsolable thinking Jason is going to die from his injuries because he ran before he could get help. Thomas is frantically trying to track Jason down as Martha tries to soothe her inconsolable son, Alfred is now 100% sure Jason used to be part of a gang or was a former soldier like him.

Jason doesn't show up at work for like a week and Alfred manages to find him since Jason abandoned his apartment and holed up in a safehouse because it's habit for him at this point to have multiple safe houses at all times, to have places to run. Alfred is half expecting Jason to have bled out from what he heard. Jason is shaky as hell, definitely still recovering but not dead because of the Lazarus pit healing factor.

Alfred is concerned because this boy has grown on him so much (Jason imprinted on Alfie on sight) that he insists on making sure Jason is patched up properly and Jason is too physically weak to argue. Alfred comes to the conclusion that Jason is a meta and drags Jason to Wayne Manor to properly recover (Martha and Thomas have a room set up for Jason; all of their staff has the option to live at the manor and most have taken them up on the offer, Jason is one of the few who hasn't). The Wayne's are so relieved when Alfred drags Jason in, Bruce basically attaches himself to Jason's hip and cannot be pried off, Thomas who is a surgeon insists on checking Jason over. Jason is trying to assure everyone that he's okay, he has a healing factor, he'll be fine in a few days but no one is listening and insist he take it easy and rest.

He tries to resume his duties the following day and Alfred almost smacks him over the head for walking around with several healing gunshot wounds. Jason has yet to realize Thomas, Martha, and Alfred have basically adopted him, Bruce is keeping Jason in the manor by bursting into tears whenever Jason tries to leave.

Yes, it's all coming together...then many years later when Haly's circus comes to town, Jason shows up tells Haly about the sabotaged equipment, that he saw Tony Zucco do it. Haly calls off the acrobat show, saving John and Mary Grayson in the process. Haly tells them someone warned him about their equipment and they track him down to thank him personally because he saved them and Dick.

When Jack and Janet start going on archeology digs for months at a time, Jason starts going over to Drake Manor almost daily to check in on little Tim, who imprints on Jason so hard. Thomas and Martha, still alive and growing older are joking around like "Are you leaving us for the Drakes? What are they offering you? We can pay you more" and Jason just shows up with Tim one day and he's like "Meet your grandson."

Jason puts down the rogues as they appear, or helps the ones he can. The Joker never gets the chance to become as big as he does, he gets killed immediately 💀 Jason also helps Bruce with WE, and starts so many social programs and programs to help the poorer parts of Gotham which greatly brings down crime (I don't care if Gotham is canonically cursed, this is an AU where it's not) Damian is never born, whenever Haly's circus cycles back to Gotham, the Graysons and Waynes hang out, Tim gets legally adopted by Jason pretty young and Thomas and Martha adopted Jason when he was a young adult so both he and Tim are Waynes, idk much about Stephanie Brown but Arthur didn't become Cluemaster because anyone who tried to become a major criminal died, Duke's parents were never hit with Joker Venom because the Joker didn't have time to make the venom, and Jason took a vacation to rescue Cass when she was a few months old.

He killed David Cain and fought Shiva to get to adopt Cass and he raises her in Wayne Manor, where he has moved and it's a home full of love. The Graysons come over whenever they can and send letters when they're traveling. Thomas and Martha invite them to move in when John and Mary retire and Dick settles down in Gotham to find another job because he won't perform without his parents, and he ends up teaching gymnastics.

Then it turns out you're actually a selkie or something, your soul is your coat/pelt and you wear it constantly, disguised as a regular shirt or jacket so no one steals it and it's not a glowing blue light in your chest like they'd assumed.

I was going through one person's blog since they had a ton of Saja boys x reader works and there was one in particular that had me thinking of like, the saja boys with a human partner and any of them just getting hungry. It's instinct to reach for the nearest human soul, gently coaxing it up and out and towards them only to realize they're stealing their partner's soul and just panicking immediately, trying to shove your soul back into your chest and having no clue what to do because demons take souls but never return them, they've never cared about a human enough to not want to steal their soul.

Abby would have a panic attack lmao, Jinu would probably freeze and then just start slowly breaking down, Mystery is left literally speechless, Romance's jaw is on the floor and he's trembling, shaking, mind racing as he hopes you won't suffer any negative repercussions from having your soul temporarily removed, and Baby shies away from you, refusing to touch you for fear of hurting you again. He can't bring himself to leave you, though. So he hangs around at the edge of your space, always in your presence but never daring to inch closer. If you so much as extend a hand to him he'll spook like a stray cat.

I had typed a long ass reply to this post with my own headcanons to expand on what I said in the og post, left the site after I had finished elaborating on Abby, Jinu, Mystery, and Romance's reactions for a quick fanfic break, clicked a link that brought me back to Tumblr without having saved my work as a draft and lost it...

I'll try to rewrite it tomorrow 😭 lesson learned to always save my work as a draft.

I was going through one person's blog since they had a ton of Saja boys x reader works and there was one in particular that had me thinking of like, the saja boys with a human partner and any of them just getting hungry. It's instinct to reach for the nearest human soul, gently coaxing it up and out and towards them only to realize they're stealing their partner's soul and just panicking immediately, trying to shove your soul back into your chest and having no clue what to do because demons take souls but never return them, they've never cared about a human enough to not want to steal their soul.

Abby would have a panic attack lmao, Jinu would probably freeze and then just start slowly breaking down, Mystery is left literally speechless, Romance's jaw is on the floor and he's trembling, shaking, mind racing as he hopes you won't suffer any negative repercussions from having your soul temporarily removed, and Baby shies away from you, refusing to touch you for fear of hurting you again. He can't bring himself to leave you, though. So he hangs around at the edge of your space, always in your presence but never daring to inch closer. If you so much as extend a hand to him he'll spook like a stray cat.

I yearn for a daredevil fic where Matt Murdock gets de-aged while out as Daredevil maybe with Frank or Peter, so they take him home. And only Foggy and maybe Frank know just how crazy Matt can be, as he tries to act normal and mild day-to-day.

But then little Matt has no such qualms and as soon as he wakes up he is a fucking menace, trying to escape to St. Agnes and to Father Lantom, or maybe trying to find Stick (which Foggy would know, in the fic, how much Stick fucked Matty up so it's an extra gut punch)

And the fic is just the people who love Matt realizing just how much he's changed and grown from a near feral child to a near functional adult, or at least how much he hides. And how good they have it that he actually tries to be normal instead of a rabid child with sharp teeth 😭

I really want to write a fic of Jason Todd ending up in a dark!Batfam au where their Jason either died (a second time) or never came back to life. In the case of him having never come back; Bruce killed the Joker, Dick and Alfred helping him. Tim, desperate to try and save Bruce from the grief he was drowning in still forced himself into the role of Robin and Bruce protected him with ferocity, not wanting Tim to meet the same fate. Tim, who already had loose morals to begin with, had his moral code twisted to match Bruce's, who was putting rogues down left and right, Nightwing at his side.

Tim didn't know Jason personally, but that was his Robin Joker blew up. Tim would follow Jason nightly, would take hundreds of pictures of him, thousands over the years. He's grieving too, especially in Wayne Manor, constantly surrounded by reminders of what the Joker had taken from him and the Wayne's. I imagine that some people would, either for a joke or in hopes of soothing the Bat's vicious, dangerous grief, they'd try to impersonate Jason and would die violent deaths for the transgression, left in public as an example.

Damian joins the family having never met Jason, but he's been trained from birth to obey only a select few; his Grandfather, his Mother, and when the time comes that Damian would go to Gotham, his father. Damian has been trained to believe that Bruce's fights are his. Damian never met Jason, but the way he's spoken of makes him feel as though they'd grown up side by side. Jason's spirit haunts the Manor's halls, and everyone feels his loss acutely. Damian longs for the brother he could have had, the brother Dick knew and even Tim saw from a distance.

And then Jason, from a loosely canon au, gets transported to the dark Batfam world. Batman, having seen the anomaly, would go track him down. Almost killed him on the spot, thinking the Red Hood was a new rogue and despite the red Bat on his chest, Bruce was lunging as soon as he heard 'Red Hood'. The Joker was never mentioned on the streets of Gotham, and to think someone was using his old alias...Bruce is out for blood until he manages to knock the helmet off, and there's no mistaking Jason's face.

Jason promptly gets knocked out, taken to the Cave, thrown in a containment cell while Bruce runs every DNA test known to man only to get the same result from all of them; that is, in fact, Jason Peter Todd-Wayne.

Jason would wake up in a room in the Manor, his head in Bruce's lap, Dick's head on his shoulder with Dick's legs around his waist and arms around his shoulders, Tim leaning against the wall with his legs under Jason's, Damian curled up around Jason's legs, hands wrapped around Jason's ankles. They know he's not their Jason but it doesn't matter when he's a version of the boy they lost, and the more they learn about Jay's world, the more they're sure he belongs with them. If Jay ever let it slip that Bruce slit his throat, that's it. His fate is sealed, he's not going back.

In the case that in the dark Batfam 's world, Jason died a second time then Jason from a loosely canon world winds up in theirs, then they'd be more violent/obsessive in trying to keep him. Especially Damian, who I will always headcanon as having known Jason from his time in Nanda Parbat. Jason was his teacher, his guard, his brother. Damian idolized Jason, loved him more than anyone. He will not lose him again.

Tim isn't far behind, because he yearned for a brother for so long, and while Jason and him got off to a rocky start (Titans Tower), he got a taste of what it was like to be a person Jason Todd loved, and he would do whatever it took to have that again. Also Tim and Damian would kill whoever killed Jason, let's say the Joker, immediately. Bruce and Dick wouldn't get a chance to partake in the fun (read: torture) but would get there in time to see Damian slice the Joker's head clean off.

Bruce still doesn't kill but he toes the line. Dick no longer has such qualms and since at this point all of his kids have killed someone, Bruce's no kill rule is his alone and he doesn't care because he refuses to push his own kids away, or punish them, for killing when he loved Jason so much despite Jason being the Red Hood. Bruce would never forgive himself for losing another son, so he forces himself to let go of his obsession with his own rule.

And then another Jason ends up in their dimension. And he'll never truly replace the one they lost but...but they're so similar, practically the same. He fills the gap in their hearts, even if not completely. Having lost Jason twice before would make them more desperate to keep this one.
