My "quick sketch" for the night.

theres tons to say about the dialogue between lex and lionel but just watching their body language in these scenes is so upsetting

the way lex starts out pretty confident before lionel gets close and then he immediately starts avoiding eye contact

and then lionel reaches out as if to touch lex's face

and lex moves his face away a bit

and lionel pivots his hand to the back of lex's chair to loom over him

and lex keeps looking away until he eventually works up the nerve to face him

only for lionel to immediately goad lex into a physical competition where he can dominate him in a very clear/obvious way

like lex is so obviously scared of his father but he also desperately wants to prove himself... and lionel is so quick to intimidate/humiliate lex and put him back in his place when he tries... it just makes me lose my mind

Superman is an incredibly kind and tender character. (If he’s not being written that way, then he’s not being written well.) He inspires hope not just through his heroics, but also through his kindness toward other people. That’s his thing. Don’t you DARE call tenderness a “weakness.” Get your toxic masculinity the hell away from me and go read a badly written Batman comic if you want a “tough” male character.
