bucktommy prompt time! ♡ i love buck and tommy with curly hair so here the prompt: "give me a brush. I'll fix your hair for you." pretty please? :D

I love their curly hair too, so here we go ✨

Buck nearly drops the book he's reading as Tommy pads into the living room, freshly showered, wearing just a pair of Buck's sweatpants and his— damp, curly hair.

He's seen Tommy with his hair unstyled and disheveled before - has seen him sweaty and sooty and soaked - but never like this. Hell, he didn't even know Tommy had curly hair and the realization is driving him insane.

"Your curls are adorable," he blurts out, throwing his book on the coffee table and standing up to join him in the middle of the room. "Oh my God," he says, bringing one of his hands up to comb the fluffy strands with his fingers.

Tommy blushes and ducks his head, smiling that crunchy, face-splitting smile that makes Buck feel drunk. "No one has ever said that before. I— Uh, I never really liked my hair, to be honest. It's difficult to style, especially when it grows."

Buck keeps carding his fingers through his curls. "I can relate, but I've found some wonderful products for my hair and now it's a bit easier. They're expensive as hell, but I like my curls more now," he says, and then— "Can I– Uh, can I style your hair?"

Tommy tilts his head. "Would you really do that? I mean I've dried it a bit already, and we're both off tomorrow so I have time to put some gel on in the morning."

"I'd love to," Buck insists, smiling. "I just need a comb and a few hair products, and you'll look even prettier, I promise."

"Okay," Tommy agrees, giggling at Buck's eagerness. "How do you want me?"

"Sit on that chair, I'll be right back." Buck disappears into the bathroom, emerging a few minutes later with his arms full. "Here we go," he announces happily, settling between Tommy's legs.

"Uh, those look really expensive," Tommy comments, glancing at the products now scattered on the table.

"They are, but they're also miraculous," Buck replies, combing Tommy's curls. He squeezes some curl-enhancing styling gel on his hand and starts sculpting Tommy's curls, twirling them around his fingers and perfecting their pattern.

"Oh, that's relaxing," Tommy comments, his eyes fluttering close as he curls an arm around Buck's waits to tug him closer.

Buck hums, massaging his scalp for a bit and giggling as Tommy leans in to press a kiss just above his navel.

"You're distracting me," he admonishes before he goes back to take care of Tommy's curls. "I'm almost done," he announces, grabbing the moisturizer and brushing his fingers through his hair again.

Another chuckle escapes him as Tommy makes things difficult, ducking his head to pepper kisses on his torso.

"You're the worst, but your curls are perfect now," he declares, hooking two fingers under his chin to tilt his head back up. "You look handsome."

"Oh, so I don't look handsome when I style my hair on my own?" He teases, arching his eyebrow.

"You're insufferable," Buck quips, leaning down to silence him with a passionate kiss.

I know most people don't care and the show is far from accurate, but coming from the medical field there are some things that make me go *eek* in fics:

There's no sense in shocking people when in complete cardiac arrest (= flatlined, as Hen had explained after the lightning strike). Go for compressions, shocking only when there's something like v-fib

Brain injuries are a bitch. Any kind of bleed, too much pressure, stroke - it is more than unlikely that people just wake up and are alright. Recovery for younger people is easier, but still takes time. Most likely symptoms are movement or speech problems.

The whole coughing up blood due to a clot is super rare, a heart attack or a stroke are way more likely. Even I had to do some research, why Buck coughed up blood (give me a shout out, if you want an explanation)

Broken bones take time to heal, even more rehab to do a firefighter job again. We're talking months here.

I am a certified occupational therapist. I have quite a bit of medical knowledge. However, as I am from Europe, I know nothing about the health system in the US. Still, if you have any questions, let me know.

I finished the Tommy POV 7x06 fic. It's about 4k and I am way too tired to do a quick edit even though it's a pretty clean draft. So I'll probably post tomorrow after I edit and find a title for it.

I haven't touched the soulmate au since I posted last chapter so ch. 6 is still 3/4 of the way done so I'll likely work on finishing that tomorrow.

On another note wish me luck because I'm going to be trying to get tickets for Ed Sheeran's 10 year anniversary concert tomorrow morning.

Nothing will dispell the "the curtains were just blue" myth faster than writing something yourself, because the amount of pretentious symbolism i am putting in my silly little fanfics is ridiculous. I mean SO much with these words, literally every single one of them. This fic has twenty five typos and zero correct uses of punctuation but if there's curtains you bet your ass I put thought into what colour they were.

One under-appreciated breed of fic writer are the ones who hyperfocus on logistics to the exclusion of all canon shortcuts, and thus usually strike upon an awesome way to flesh out the worldbuilding or characters.

Like, I’m not necessarily talking realism here since often it’s still pretty far from realistic, but more like, “someone has to be running spies in this fantasy kingdom, and we’ve seen the whole royal court, so which background character is it? How does that change these three major interactions?” Or “real life historical nobility did in fact have some things to do that were like jobs, how does this human disaster cope with running an estate?” Or “there’s no reason for a sci-fi robot detective to know how to whitewater kayak, where’d she learn?” Or “if this guy is serving the emperor directly he has to be way high up in the space empire servant hierarchy, why is he doing this menial task for someone else? What’s his motive? Does he perhaps have the secret space telepathy?”

Anyway I’m always DELIGHTED to find a fic or writer who asks these questions because the fics themselves are universally bangers.
