Ok but can you imagine Buck watching Tommy get ready? Putting on a clean white shirt that’s a little too tight on him. Buck knew he liked Tommy all dirty and disheveled, but looking shaven and clean like apparently really does it for him too.
Tommy fixes his cuffs and every minute he looks more and more like a classic hero. Tommy is a hero and flew a helicopter into a hurricane, and now Buck gets to see him getting dressed up.
When Tommy slides his tie around his collar, Buck can’t resist anymore and steps closer. “Let me help with that,” he says, voice hoarse. The silk is familiar between his fingers and so is the warmth of Tommy’s chest under the palm of his hands.
“Evan,” Tommy says, tilting his head, “I know that look. We can’t be late”.
“Just one kiss,” Buck negotiates. He pulls Tommy in closer by the tie. His stomach swoops at the feeling of it, at how easily Tommy lets himself be pulled in, at the little hum in the back of Tommy’s throat when Buck deepens the kiss.
Tommy’s hooks his fingers in Buck’s belt loops and pulls Buck tight against him, making Buck swallow a moan in turn, and then holds him back. “Not sure that counted as one,” he says.
He tugs on Buck’s tie, then pushes Buck back with two fingers against his chest. “I’m going to need you to stay a safe distance away.”
Buck grins. It’s fine. He can wait. He gets to watch Tommy finish getting dressed, and later he’ll get to undress him too.

Oh I should not be thinking about marriage proposals for a couple we have no confirmation will be long term…
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut…
Imagine with me, if you will, Buck getting ready for a date with Tommy and there’s a knock on his door. It’s Eddie and— and he’s holding a—
“What’s with the clipboard,” Buck laughs. Eddie flicks his eyes up from where he is busy scribbling something that Buck tries to see but Eddie pulls the clipboard up so he can’t.
“You… are late,” Eddie responds — matter of factly, albeit nonsensically because… late for what? Before he can ask, Eddie swoops the pen around elegantly like he does with his signature and then tucks the board under his arm. “Let’s go.”
And then they are off on a very wild (very confusing for poor Buck) adventure of Buck being passed — with the constantly hidden from his eyes clipboard — from person to person and place to place until he finally ends up at the 118 with Athena who hands the clipboard one last time to Bobby and after some sentimental fatherly speech he gives it to Buck.
On it is a picture frame boarder and what everyone had been scribbling the whole time were their signature and little messages. In the middle where a picture would go it just says turn around.
Buck does and there’s Tommy down on one knee and his whole entire family (his whole entire world) is watching as one of the happiest days of Bucks life unfolds.
And of course he says Yes!
And yeah…. Imma need to get a google doc going for this because it’s made me feel all soft inside!

Adorable prompt by @shxyerahol : Buck and Tommy date night at painting with a twist. Buck is not a great artist and has a hard time keeping up with the instructor but Tommy is phenomenal (headcanon taken by the fact that Lou is a fantastic painter IRL).
I really liked writing this one, hope you like it too ❤️
Buck should've probably seen this coming, but when Tommy invited him to a date night at painting with a twist, he eagerly agreed without stopping to think of the implication of that nor the reason why Tommy was so enthusiastic about the idea of painting together.
Truth is, he loves spending time with Tommy, no matter what they do or where they go, and he's absolutely enjoying this date, too, but he's also struggling. The instructor is nice and definitely very good at her job, but Buck's having a hard time keeping up with what she says. Or rather, he understands what she says but struggles to do what he's supposed to, because he sucks at drawing and painting, and art is not his thing at all.
He's trying, okay? He's trying to follow her instructions and use the right brush and the right colour but he's pretty sure he's making a mess, even if the instructor keeps encouraging and complimenting him.
It's date night, so they're supposed to make complementary paintings and they can't see each other's paintings until the end.
Tommy's sitting opposite from him, their respective canvas in the middle, so he can't exactly see anything but his face, but he can tell that his boyfriend is perfectly at ease. He doesn't even ask questions to the instructor, he's lost in painting and there's a little wrinkle on the bridge on his nose that tells Buck that he's deeply concentrated.
It's a sight to behold, honestly, and Buck gets a bit distracted until the instructor prompts him to go on, giving him some advice. He's supposed to be painting a half-heart shaped wave, using the colours of the bi flag, and it's not that bad but he's not sure it's going to be nice either.
"I'm done," Tommy announces five minutes later, and Buck widens his eyes in disbelief.
"What? How's that possible?" He asks, frowning as he takes in his own painting. He's barely finished with the background. "I still have to paint the wave, you're cheating."
Tommy chuckles, tilting his head. "I'm not cheating, I'm done for real. You wanna see?"
"I wish," Buck says, rolling his eyes.
"You can, if you want," the instructor chimes in. "It's not really a rule that you can't see your partner's painting before you've done with yours, just something I suggest to make things funnier," she says, inspecting Tommy's canvas. "Besides, I think that your boyfriend here might be really helpful."
Buck is very, very curious now, so he stands up, rounds the table and– oh boy, Tommy has painted is a masterpiece. He's not an expert, but he can recognize a wonderful painting when he sees one, and Tommy's definitely is.
He's used the gay flag colours to paint the wave, and he's also added a lot of details that make it look real. He's stunned and speechless, and can't help but stare in awe at the canvas and then at his boyfriend.
"Baby, it's amazing. I didn't know you were so talented," he says, surprised. "You're an artist, and a damn good one."
"Uh– Yeah, I would call myself an artist. I never mentioned that but I– I paint in my free time," Tommy admits, smiling sheepishly. "I've started doing that a few months after I came back from my tour in Iraq, and it helped a lot. I've never stopped since then, it's something I really like and apparently I'm also good at that."
"You are," Buck says, squeezing his shoulder. "And it's nice that art is one of your hobbies. I'm so bad at it, but it's calming and it definitely helps to clean your mind."
"It does. It's the reason why I started painting in the first place," Tommy replies, and then stands up and pokes him in the ribs. "So, you could use some help?"
Buck chuckles, blushing as he nods. He sits in front of his canvas again, and lets Tommy guide his hand, his body strong behind his and his breath fanning the side of his face. He's even more distracted now, but he manages to finish the painting with Tommy's help and when they put their two canvases next to one another, Buck feels warmth spreading around his ribs. The painting is far from perfect, and Tommy's definitely better than his own, but it's theirs and he thinks it's wonderful.

One of my favorite things about 7x06 Bucktommy is that at no point are they trying to impress each other. Buck at the bachelor party is at his annoying control freak peak. He's openly irritated that Tommy didn't dress right. He's got the "Miami Vice?" 🙄 line and the sulky, disbelieving "Yeah, okay" when Tommy leaves. Meanwhile Tommy, the epitome of smooth, doesn't pull out any lines. He didn't bother to embrace the 80s theme*, he doesn't praise Buck and Eddie's outfits, he's matter-of-fact when he has to go.
But that makes the affection they show at the bachelor party feel all the more genuine. The smiles and the hug when Tommy gets there. The fact that Tommy stayed through the most boring non-party of all time. "I'll try my damnedest" and Buck rubbing Tommy's back and "be safe." None of it's coming from a place of trying to impress the new boyfriend. They care about each other! They're showing up for each other!
And then there's the hospital, which, the kiss is hot as hell and they're both making HUGE gestures (Tommy being there at all, Buck being public about their relationship), but not because they have anything to prove. Tommy is exhausted and not remotely trying to be sexy, because he's not there to score points, he just wants to be there. Buck is radiating this absolutely sincere joy at seeing Tommy and kissing him and coming out to his whole family. After all the charm of "guess it's just me that makes you nervous" and the effort of "I think maybe that something could be with you," they're settling into something where they don't try to convince each other to give a damn, and I just think that's neat!!!!
*we are NOT talking enough about how fucking funny "they had hEnLeys in the 80s" 🙄 was

bucktommy and the rest of the firefam having a lil family gathering at bobby and athena's house. and buck spends a majority of the afternoon playing with the kiddo's, so tommy spends a majority of the afternoon making heart eyes at his adorable, silly, golden retriever boyfriend (and takes all the teasing he gets for it from his family like a champ).
and eventually, buck makes his way back over to the adult side of the party, only there's nowhere for him to sit. but before anyone can make space for him, he decisively makes his way over to tommy and just. plonks himself down straight into his boyfriend's lap. tommy doesn't even bat an eye. just. moves his arms out of the way to make space for buck and then wraps them securely around buck's waist when he's all settled in and comfortable. presses a quick kiss to his cheek, greets buck with a soft, "hey, baby," and then carries on his conversation with eddie. buck beams, cheeks flushing slightly even after all this time. mindlessly grabs one of tommy's hand and locks their fingers together, letting them fall to rest against his lap. misses the soft smiles he gets from his family at the interaction and turns to join in on the conversation everyone else has going on around him.
(eventually, as the evening goes on, little by little, he sinks further into tommy. body unconciously shifting, progressively curling inwards, towards his boyfriend. head slowly dipping, drifting further and further down until it's fully resting against tommy's shoulder. his conversation tapering off. it's a losing battle to keep his fluttering eyes open after tommy lifts his free hand to start stroking through his hair. there's a kiss pressed to the top of his head and he hums, content.)

also you wanna know another great reason Tommy is great for Buck??? Because he’s not a fan. Every single one of Buck’s previous girlfriend kinda idolized him for a reason or another. Ali and Taylor were victims he rescued. Natalia was a huge fan of him dying. Abby saw him on the news first.
Being your partner’s fan is actually a good thing, except for the fact that Buck always equates love=usefulness and the fact that his girlfriends were fans made him feel like he had some standards to maintain. There was extra pressure in the relationships because they had expectations and he desperately wanted to meet their expectations. So the relationship always started with Buck trying to impress them but he never knew when to stop.
but with Tommy there’s no pressure whatsoever. Tommy obviously likes him but he likes him because Buck shouted that their motto (as people who save lives for a living) should be “who cares!”. He likes him after Buck accidentally maimed his best friend in a dumb basketball game. He likes him after Buck made a fool out of himself during their date and then invited him to his sister wedding and an 80-themed bachelor party and he likes him after he pouted because Tommy wasn’t wearing a costume.
and Tommy doesn’t make fun of him in the same way his family does but he still jokes about how ridiculous he is (“mhmmm so not like that” and “they had Henleys in the 80s”) and Buck needs someone like that, someone who will lift him up when he’s down (“Evan, I think you’re adorable” and “you already know I’m interested” and “it’s not like I could ever replace you. Chris would have something to say”) but will also ground him when Buck gets a big head and starts having unrealistic expectations about himself.
so Tommy likes Buck because he’s Buck. Even better, he likes Buck because he’s Evan.

Hi I am demanding Bucktommy + pet names thank you
As you wish 🫡
The first time Tommy calls Buck baby he damn near trips over his own feet. They’re walking along the beach front, hands brushing together until Buck gets the courage to grasp Tommy’s hand in his own. Tommy smiles at him, eyes crinkling in the corner in a way that has Buck melting beside him. He has no choice but to beam back, a dusting of pink blooming across his cheeks. It’s simple and it’s easy and Buck can’t believe he gets to have this.
This is their 5th date, or well, okay it’s their 6th but Buck likes to pretend the first one never happened. Tommy rolls his eyes fondly when Buck tells him that, shakes his head and says it really wasn’t so bad, it’s part of their history, so to speak, and you can’t erase that. Buck agrees, but that doesn’t stop him feeling a little bad about it anyway. But, they’re here now and that’s what matters.
It’s a sunny day, a few clouds dotting around the otherwise bright blue sky. There’s a light breeze in the air, enough that it has Buck shivering slightly. Tommy laughs beside him, shaking his head softly, “It’s like 70 degrees, how are you cold?” Tommy asks gently.
“It’s cold!” Buck insists, pouting slightly.
“You’re always cold, baby, I don’t know how you ever survived in Pennsylvania,” Tommy says.
The only thing that stops Buck falling flat on his face is Tommy’s hand still holding his own, pulling him back when he stumbles. Tommy raises his eyebrow at him in question.
“B-baby?” Buck asks, a deep blush rising on his cheeks, trailing down his neck, “that’s uh, that’s new.”
Tommy tilts his head, eyes looking at Buck so softly in a way that only Tommy can. “You like it?” he questions.
Buck is nodding so fast he feels dizzy. “Uh, yup, yep, it’s uh good.”
Tommy grins. “Good, cause you’re my baby,” he says winking at Buck.
Bucks sure that his face must match the colour of his birthmark now, not only does the pet name make Buck feel like a puddle of goo and Tommy’s feet, but Tommy called him his. Buck really really likes the sound of that. Unable to resist any longer, Buck pulls Tommy closer by their joined hands and kisses him deeply, his free hand coming to rest on Tommy’s neck.
When he pulls back, after a few extra chaste kisses to his mouth, Buck says smiles, “Now I have to come up with a name for you.”
“I’m sure you’ll think of something,” Tommy replies.
“Hmmm,” Buck tilts his head in thought. “Darling.”
Tommy scrunches his nose, in a way that Buck finds ridiculously adorable but knows it means that one’s off the table. “Hm, okay, okay, what about sweetheart?”
Tommy shakes his head, “you’re the sweetheart.” Buck blushes but nods.
“Okay, then what about doll?”
“Are you 100 years old?” Tommy says scrunching his face tighter. “You’re not very good at this, he says fondly.”
“Uh, rude!” Buck says in mock offence. “See if I’ll give you a pet name now, Thomas.”
Tommy opens is mouth wide in fake shock. “You’re an idiot,” he says, playfully hitting Buck in the chest.
“Nuh-uh,” Buck says, laughing as he shakes his head. “I’m your baby.”
“Damn right you are,” Tommy says softly, raising their joined hands and kissing Buck’s knuckles. “All mine.”

911twt: melting under a 2 minute cameo where Lou says he thinks the canon couple that he's one half of is cute.
Meanwhile, I wake-up to a 6 minute cameo with this important piece of information.
Lou: What things/hobbies do Buck and Tommy do together? Oh, you mean besides sexy times?? Let's see...
Exercise? 💀
[ This is my cameo that I bought. I now live in a cardboard box, but like, worth it...]

Prompt by @chenfordsrollisi : Buck and Tommy both have the same day off and spend it at the beach. Fun in the sand and water. Maybe they have lunch, too, and fool around in the sand.
"Baby, come here! It's amazing!" Buck shouts, running a hand through his wet hair. His boyfriend is looking at him from the shore, and the sight is one he certainly appreciates but he'd also like to go for a swim with him since the ocean is calm and warm today. "Don't be lazy! Let's have a race!"
Tommy giggles, squinting at him. "Did I mention I was in the swimming team in high school?" He shouts back, smirking. "You wanna lose, uh?"
Buck widens his eyes, giggling as Tommy finally plunges into the ocean, splashing water everywhere.
"Hi," Buck says as Tommy gets closer. "You look handsome," he whispers, brushing the tip of his finger over his cheeks, a bit red from the sun, and then through his wet curls.
"Are you trying to distract me with compliments, kid?" Tommy teases, eyeing him playfully, and then catches him by surprise, splashing water on his face.
Buck throws him an outraged look, and then he starts swimming, giggling like a lovesick idiot. "Catch me!" He challenges, trying to swim as fast as he can.
It doesn't take long before Tommy overtakes him, the sound of their laughter mingling with the sloshing of the water all around them.
"I won," Tommy brags, arching an eyebrow. "I think I deserve at least a kiss."
Buck smiles and leans in, but as soon as Tommy closes his eyes he splashes him and in the span of thirty seconds things escalate and they find themselves laughing like kids as they splash each other until they're both panting heavily.
"I– I can't remember the last time I laughed this much," Tommy says, wrapping his arms around Buck's waist. "You're such a dork."
"I know, but you love me," Buck replies, scrunching his nose up.
"I really, really do," Tommy confirms softly, and then runs his hand across the damp skin of Buck's chest. "Shall we have lunch? I'm starving."
"Yeah, let's go," Buck says, lacing their hands together as they walk towards the shore and then their beach towels.
"I wish we could do this more often," Tommy says, handing Buck a sandwich. "Our shifts have been a mess lately."
"Yeah, me too," Buck agrees, pressing a kiss to Tommy's shoulder. "I needed this, you know? Just me, you and the beach."
Tommy smiles, and then they eat enjoying the quietness and the peaceful sound of the gentle waves hitting the sand.
When Tommy lays down, his arm tucked beneath his head and his eyes closed, Buck pillows his head on his chest and opens the book he's reading, relaxing against him.
"Are you comfortable?" Tommy teases, carding a hand through his damp hair.
"Very," Buck comments, giggling. "You wanna nap for a bit? We can take a walk later."
"Yeah, we've all the time," Tommy whispers, and Buck smiles because yeah, they do.
-
It was extremely hard to cut this short, I could've easily written 4k of beach fluff because that's who I am 🤣

Every time there's a storm, Buck's body enters a very tense state. He's not afraid of thunder, he knows what happened to him needed very specific circumstances, he knows he's safe in his kitchen cutting onions, carrots and celery while Tommy is reading the news on his phone, sitting at the kitchen island. But his body remembers, and today's storm is a nasty one.
When lightning strikes first, it's pretty far from his place but it startles him.
"Shit."
His right hand is shaking so he puts the knife down for a minute. Tommy lifts his eyes from his phone.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, yeah. Just... it's okay. I'm... I'm fine."
Buck collects himself, picks the knife up and continues chopping. The soffritto is slowly cooking when another flash lights up the loft. This one is closer and they can hear the air tearing. This time it's Buck's legs that give up, shaking, unable to carry his weight anymore. He can feel it and crouches immediately, his hands gripping the edge of the kitchen counter. He knows he needs to calm down, to make his body understand there's no danger.
Tommy immediately comes close to him, a warm hand on Buck's back, and turns off the stove.
"I'm- I'm fine, Tommy. I just... I just need to breathe."
"I know. But let me stay here, okay?"
Tommy sits down on the floor just next to Buck's folded body, his back against the kitchen cabinet. Their eyes meet, they share a small smile. Buck knows he's safe here, in his kitchen. He also knows he's safe with Tommy, his steady support keeps him grounded. His legs are still shaking and it's creeping up to his shoulders. Outside, the sky is raging with flashing lights and growling sounds.
"Did I tell you about my insect phase when I was a kid?" asks Tommy while staring in front of him. In the corner of his eye, he can see Buck slowly shaking his head.
"I was 5 and I was on a mission. I spent my days hunting for insects. I wanted to collect them all, I was fascinated. So many of them, everywhere! My mom... she hated them, but me? I wanted to meet them all and, I don't know, make new friends?" he scoffs. "I was lonely and it was just a way for me to fill my life with something that was only for me, maybe. My favorite ones were the dragonfly, I was already fascinated by flying, but also the water striders. I mean, walking on the water? Incredible."
They look at each other and burst out laughing.
"Yeah, well, I was an insect nerd, I guess."
Feeling less shaky in spite of the sky still growling, Bucks shifts his weight on his legs and sits down next to Tommy on the ground with a long sigh. He lets his head rest on the cabinet's door behind him, his legs stretched out in front of him, his hands flat on the floor.
Tommy gently hooks his index around Buck's pinkie like a lifeline.
"Do you want me to finish cooking while you go lie down?"
Buck shakes his head and sighs again.
"No, give me a minute and I'll be fine. I promised you lasagna. I worked hard to nail this version, you will have it for dinner."
"Okay, okay, Pasta Queen!"
Their laughter drowns out the sound of the storm now receding.
