I love how Buck and Tommy aren’t a slow burn or a will they won’t they type of situation, but a secret third thing. It’s so natural that people actually felt like they were breaking some kind of rule or cheating the system 😭

I also love how it just works. They know almost nothing about one another meaning they can experience their relationship with fresh eyes and open minds. The relationship itself is the experience. They didn’t need a 7 year friendship to finally one day realize their attraction to one another. It’s all just a leap of faith.

That’s how it is in real life.

I can’t wait to see them develop and evolve as a couple as the show continues.

did you know that a few years back, a fan had told him that they heavily relate to buck as a person with ADHD. that they see a lot of the characteristics that come with being neurodivergent in buck.

ever since being told that, oliver did research on ADHD, A LOT of research so he could continue to accurately portray buck as someone with ADHD.

Seeing the flashbacks in 7x08 sheds so much light on Bobby's reaction to certain events during the show.

Why Bobby treated Buck the way he did after the embolism and the lightning strike. It's so much more than just being an overprotective parental figure.

The first time was this fear that Buck was in front of him, coughing up blood and dying. He couldn't save his father from dying, but he sure as hell could try and save Buck. And do everything in his power to make sure he remains safe and out of danger.

And then Buck dies after being struck by lightning. He sits vigil at his bedside when he knows there's a chance that Buck will pull through. And he comes back. So, of course, this time, he treats him differently; of course, he overcorrects and gives him slack in his performance review. Of course, he's gentler with him, Buck woke up. And his father didn't.

Their relationship is so complicated in that Bobby views Buck as his son, but he's also been this trigger for the trauma he experienced with his father.

What happened with his father also reinforces why Bobby struggled so much with being unable to sus out Jonah. Bobby put on his headphones and didn't notice what was happening in his house.

(Before I say this, just know this is not directed at anyone in particular, it's just from some things I've seen and heard). BUT as a ride or die buddie shipper, I am getting seriously annoyed by people in BOTH groups of shippers, buddies and bucktommys. Let people ship whoever they want. Jumping ship is not a moral failure. Continuing to ship a noncanon ship is not a moral failure. And for god's sake, shipping either one does not make anyone racist, or biphobic, which are takes I've seen from both sides. At the end of the day, this is just a TV show. They are just characters. If you are becoming genuinely distressed, or lashing out at real live people (and yes, online still counts), you need to take a step back. Fandom is supposed to be fun. It's supposed to be where we can collectively freak out about this thing we like. It's not supposed to be where people are getting hate for liking one pairing over another. ✌️

The hate Lou gets online isn’t going anywhere. They’re not going to stop or take it easy on him in anyway. They’ve never given any of the actresses who’ve played love interest to Buck a chance and it’s going to probably be worse for Lou. Only because they see him as an actual threat now.

They’re disgruntled. They spent years rewriting narratives and bullying in order to make one thing happen and their reward is still nowhere in sight. And while I think it’s well deserved, Lou doesn’t deserve to get any portion of that backlash.

Which is why I think it’s cool that we’re all here. How a random relationship that no one saw coming could inspire a community of sorts. They’re only where they are now because a character showed up on screen one day and they took a liking to him. We’re here because of a kiss. The kiss. The thing that kick started a relationship that we genuinely want to see grow. Because they fit.

So please don’t let them bully you out of wanting to see how things play out for BuckTommy and just enjoy yourselves. Don’t let them make you or Lou feel unwelcome.

Have fun. Write. Make edits. Hyperfixate. Be weird.

But also, just be kind guys. Show kindness to each other and to Lou 🫶🏾

Shouldn't have rewatched the last of us

I need to talk about the framing of Buck, Tommy and Eddie in season 7, particularly the way they’re always framed as a triangle.

First you have 7x03 with Tommy between both Buck and Eddie. Tommy initially begins hanging out with Eddie as seen in 7x04. Whether Tommy had romantic intentions or not we do not know, but when he realises that Buck may be interested in him / was flirting with him, he turned his attention to Buck. This is particularly interesting when you consider 7x06 - Tommy and Eddie still have a friendly relationship, but Tommy’s communication now seems to be with Buck.

Then you have Buck between Tommy and Eddie. I feel this is self explanatory but Buck in 7x04 is feeling jealous at the idea of the two of them hanging out without him. We, as an audience, continue to see Buck act jealously throughout the episode - seemingly wanting Eddie’s attention. At the end of the episode, he then admits that it was Tommy’s attention he wanted - at which even Tommy seems surprised. Tommy then kisses him, but as discussed, many of the conversations Buck has with/surrounding Tommy still seem to have Eddie at the forefront.

In 7x06 Buck’s attention is more focused towards Tommy with Tommy at the forefront of the triangle in Buck’s POV. But Eddie is there, in the background, in the Back of Buck’s mind, still present.

Finally, we have this clip from the sneak peek of 7x09. Once again you have the 3 of them sort of grouped together, with Hen and Chimney at the front. The first thing that stood out to me was the fact that, yes, they’re a trio, a triangle again, but more notably that the way this is framed, it’s broken up. Once again we have Buck between Tommy and Eddie, but this time you have Buck and Eddie on one side, and Tommy on the other. It represents a disconnect between the two people in this group of five that are actually in a relationship. It could mean nothing, but angles are surely chosen for a reason? They could have had Tommy where Eddie is stood instead. Any number of things could have changed the way this is framed.

This could all mean absolutely nothing, but it’s interesting to consider, and I especially haven’t been able to get the last image out of my head.

I welcome any thoughts anyone has on this/any additions.
