Buddies turning out to be queerphobic and lacking any real understanding of queer identity, culture, or representation was an unsurprising but necessary revelation. Like various popular ships in fandom, they’re dominated by non-queer women who fixate on heterosexual men and create narratives that force queerness onto them. Then, they police these spaces and present themselves as experts on queer topics and identity. All because they sexualize queerness but only like it when it applies to the people or characters they’re interested in or find attractive enough. When called out, they claim it’s due to homophobia or bigotry, hiding behind fake activism and outrage. As a queer man, it’s exhausting. The straight guy who loves playing queer characters or the straight character they desperately want to be queer receives far more grace, leeway, and understanding than actual queer characters, who are shamed and made to feel gross and uncomfortable in spaces supposedly made for them.

I don't know Tim Minear’s social media handles, but I'm sure he has a Facebook account. If possible, please flood his page with gratitude and positivity. This isn’t just about Tevan, but also about his inclusion of queer stories in general. I've expressed my disdain for the unnecessary online harassment of writers and actors, but positivity should be the norm. Especially since the most vocal parts of the fandom are often the most toxic. You can do whatever you want, but I think it would mean a lot to him to see how much we appreciate his storytelling, whether we are old or new fans.

Season 7 finally let Buck embrace his bisexuality, and he's now in a wholesome, healthy, and stable relationship with a guy he genuinely likes, and who feels the exact same way about him. A connection he’s never experienced before and one pivotal to his current arc. He and Tommy are thriving, and they'll continue to do so into the next season.

To all the BuckTommy or Tevan fans, here's to us staying strong despite the repeated failed attempts by others to manipulate the narrative and spoil this experience for us. From their kisses to their intimate moments, this relationship is a breath of fresh air. Let's continue to connect and celebrate it during the hiatus.

And to the Buddies who dislike both the ship and its supporters, while also displaying queer phobia in defense of your non canon and non queer ship, just know that not only are we not going anywhere, but you'll never understand or share our joy about a genuine queer storyline within this show that’s not based solely on theories or speculation within the spaces of a social media app. Anyways, until next season, babes….

I love how those within the fandom who aggressively advocated for a mim relationship throughout the course of the series quickly began displaying their blatant manipulative queer phobic tendencies when the mim relationship they got wasn't the one they hoped for. Now it’s “gay sex bad me no like gay sex me uncomfortable me want men to be single or go find woman this is law”

And wonder why things will never work in their favor.
