Happy Thanksgiving! This year, I'm thankful for Zog the Eternal (even if he called me a dimwit about one-million times).

Perhaps he does fraternize with the marauders, he’s so indulgent in unnecessary, worldly things.
Slut.
Tumblr media
The funny thing is that Zog is undead and technically he doesn't need to eat, drink and sleep anymore. But he still does it. Hedonistic bitch

Immortality is a known fringe benefit for serving the Ruinous Powers of the Warp but I was thinking of how exactly they grant it:
Khorne: it's a very simple and straightforward arrangement: "victory brings immortality". You keep bringing skulls to Khorne and he keeps you in fighting shape forever
Slaanesh: Similar to Khorne. You sacrifice souls to the Prince of Pleasure in horrifying and debauched ways then gain their remaining lifespan (Especially fucked up because that means the ideal targets are young and healthy children)
Nurgle: immortality, incredible strength, nigh-indestructibility, and freedom from pain and suffering. Just one little thing, you become a putrid walking corpse and host to the most virulent plagues in existence
Tzeentch: Fittingly, seems like the best deal until you think about it. You can no longer die, that is it. Sounds like a good deal until you're floating in space forever, buried under tons of rubble, or existing as sentient pulp after being hit by an artillery shell
*Honorable mentions:*
Vashtorr: will grant you immortality by replacing your frail meat with sleek and efficient biomechanical warp machinery. The only catch is eternal service to him in his forge. Should've read the fine print
Gork n Mork: DA' ZOG ARE YEW STILL DOIN' 'ERE?! GET BACK OUT DERE 'N KRUMP 'EM!
The Greater Good: the greater good is eternal you may become eternal though embodying its principles
The Emperor of Mankind: There is no such thing as immortality. Nothing lasts forever, life especially. Whether it be through science or sorcery, life may be rendered indefinite but never eternal. All things die, that is the way it always has been and always will be. It is only a matter of time.
immortality is overrated honestly. as a nurgle expert, i can say that being dead and feed the worms is a nice thing for a nurglite. nirvana through samsara situation

This is an old thing I did for Zog that’s recaptured my attention since I’ve taken this stunning photo of a bat in game and got to talking with @space-arsonist:
Tumblr media
Absolutely beautiful
@dirtymeanuruk @moonstonevulture @boozy-dwarf
The First to Worm its Way into His Heart
This is a Zog fic for @space-arsonist about him and his first and probably only pet. I hope you enjoy!~
“You won’t do it.”
“...what are you willing to bet?”
Zog stood arms crossed and hips cocked to the side. This wasn’t the first time older uruks had prodded him to do something simply idiotic and beyond riduculous, but being as hot blooded and stubborn as he is, he finds himself unable to back down from a challenge, no matter how lame or stupifying the request may be. He eyes the injured morgal bat with a cautious eye, noting how one of its wings curled awkwardly in on itself. The creature glared and spit in their general direction, and it was, quite literally, the dumbest and most dangerous dare that he’s received yet.
These little bastards wouldn’t kill an uruk, but they would make him wish that it did. Blindness, painful growths, chronic rotting flesh… All of them particularly nasty and things that Zog would like nothing to do with. But for a dare… He couldn't bear to allow these old arses to spread around that he was terrified of a mere bat, and an injured one at that, so, with his head held high, he reiterated: “What are you willing to bet?”
“So you are willing to do it!” Zog scoffs and rolls his eyes.
“I asked ‘What are you willing to bet’! Why the hell would I do something so dimwitted without even knowing what is being betted?!” A curt laugh sours Zog’s expression further.
One of them, a fellow necromancer much older than Zog, throws his thumb over his shoulder in the creature’s general direction. “You’re just scared of that lil’ thing, ain’t you, whelp?” Something inside of Zog twitches. Whelp..? WHELP?! Who the hell is he calling a damn whelp?! Over some damned bat?! Without so much of another word, he shoves his way past the much larger uruks, ignoring how they bark thinly veiled threats at his back. A strangled hush falls around him. Other uruks crowd around, unable to resist the show of someone likely about to get seriously injured.
Kneeling down, Zog inspects the bat once more. It’s a puny little thing, wry and scrawny, but not likely a runt. Most likely starved from being injured. And unbelievably still alive… Something else should have already eaten it by now, but for whatever reason, they didn’t. And this little bastard is still ready and willing to put up a fight, as well… Hissing and clicking and extending its uninjured wing to its fullest, so that it looks bigger than it actually is. A little whelp, hmm..? Zog raises his ungloved hand and pauses, looking the creature in it’s fear-feral eyes.
Continuing his slow and careful approach, the creature spits angrily, then draws back slightly. Instead of attempting to take Zog’s hand off, it merely haunches over, doing it’s best to look as small as possible, all while still squealing and hissing at regular intervals. Without so much as flinching, Zog gingerly scoops up the irate bat, ignoring how it angrily flaps its one wing in his face. Holding it in front of himself, Zog walks forward and towards the uruks that were now uncomfortably shuffling away from the feral bat still screaming its head off. Standing in front of the necromancer that had called him a ‘whelp’, Zog smugly asks: “Now, what were we betting..?”
If there was one thing that Zog detested, it was blatant weakness. Even so, he somehow couldn’t bear the thought of something happening to this little creature. Despite its injuries, it still clung to life fiercely and independently. It was something that Zog could respect, and why, instead of wringing its neck and putting it out of its misery, he released it inside a cave, a ways away from the little settlement that his tribe had founded.
Maybe it would last the season, maybe not. It would be a lie to say that he wouldn’t enjoy seeing it once more, when he’s finally on his own and making something of himself… If it lasts that long… I’ll get it out of this damn cave… He thought as he gently lowered it to the ground. It hopped off and looked back at him briefly before leaving to explore its surroundings. He hates to admit it, but Zog has certainly grown attached to the little annoyance. Even if he couldn’t bring himself to say it aloud, he would come back for it. Someday…
It had been more than a few years. The newly awakened necromancer fully expected his old friend to be long gone, but he couldn’t stop himself from checking. It’s probably moved on… or died… He pauses just before crossing the threshold of the cave. A part of him didn’t want to know and would just like to keep pretending that old bat was still alive and still being a nuisance, but an even greater part of him needed to know if that was true or not. Taking a deep breath, Zog enters the cave, uncertainty gnawing at the back of his skull.
Quiet and still… of course… What was he expecting? He scoffs, ignoring how his gut suddenly dropped to his feet. Of course it's long dead. It was a miracle that it lived for as long as it did in the first place. Zog plops down onto a raised rock, allowing his eyes to slip shut. He’s… disappointed. Why? It’s just a damn bat… Why is it affecting him so? Growing annoyed, he prepares to leave. There’s nothing for him here, anyways, so why linger. But as he’s about to stand, a sound catches his attention.
Soft, but strong, and strangely familiar. Annoyingly so… Against his better judgement, Zog became excited. It was a specific kind of noise, high pitched mixed with wet hisses. Just like- Before he has a chance to stand, a little blob of red and greyish black swoops down and lands somewhere at his feet. No- It can’t be… It stared up expectantly at Zog, looking aggravated and simply bored. One of its wings was awkwardly bent at one of its joints, but was completely healed and mostly functional. It shouldn’t be possible, but… Holding out his hand, Zog lowered himself until his knuckles touched the ground. It was a gamble, but something in his gut just knew that this wasn’t a bet that he would lose.
Sure enough, the pest clambered into Zog’s gloved palm, making itself right at home. He was relieved that no one else had accompanied him on his little journey, because he couldn’t stop himself from smiling giddily as he inspected his old friend. Nothing out of place and just as I left him… Huh. Him… Yes, that’s much better. This little creature isn’t a random annoyance and nuisance. This bat is a survivor. A pest and a mouthy bastard, yes, but an old friend, nonetheless. It felt… wrong to merely call him a thing, especially since he remained here, waiting for Zog to return.
Though he is only a bat, Zog had given him his word that he would come back for him. And his old friend had remained here, waiting even though he was more than capable of leaving. How could Zog possibly abandon him now..? For whatever reason, this little pest has decided to stay for his sake, and it truly touched Zog in ways that he never thought possible. So this is why Ferals are so attached to their caragors… It certainly is a special bond that he holds with the bat, and he supposes that he could stand to have one more mouth to feed…
“No, YOU do it! I did it last time!”
“Wha-?! HELL NO! I’m not getting anywhere near that damned thing!”
“Well, someone’s gotta do it!”
Acolytes were arguing amongst themselves. They were completely devoted to their master’s cause. Already they had vowed to follow him to the grave and back, and were unafraid of death and the mysteries shrouding it. Even then, there was a catch. One simple thing that they all struggled with on a daily basis.
Pugrish…
That damnable bat was a fucking menace, and Zog knew it. It despised any Uruk that wasn’t him, and blatantly refused to cooperate in any way. Though the acolytes eventually wisened up and began to use thick leather gear while handling the monstrosity, it was nonetheless a stressful and harrowing task.
They usually had to resort to drawing straws in order to find a ‘willing’ volunteer to feed the bastard thing. Even the new recruits would quickly learn of its presence and refuse to go anywhere near it, though they were the most likely to be chosen by the more seasoned acolytes. Sometimes, though, they don’t have to choose who the unlucky soul that day is.
“What are you lot arguing about now?” Scrambling, the acolytes move out of the way of their master. Zog doesn’t look impressed, if not a little irritated. It was his default state of being, and it was always an active struggle to garner his praise. Especially when it came to that damn bat…
The young acolytes clammed up, finding it difficult to speak in front of their master. Even the uruks that have served under him longer lacked the courage to speak outright to their master. Without another word, Zog removes the key from around his waist, much to the discomfort of those around him. The older acolytes knew what he was about to do, and they hated it. The young ones, however…
An audible gasp shifts around as Zog opens the cage and shoves his hand into the cage. They didn’t want to watch, but couldn’t look away, either. It should have been a blood bath, but to their shock it wasn’t. Though the hell bat hisses and spits, it makes no move to attack the necromancer. Instead, it clambers into his palm and with a flap of its wings, makes itself comfortable as Zog removes it from its cage.
“How is my little hell bat today, hmm?~” Zog cooed, all but smiling as the creature blinked lazily up at him.
It was as impressive as it was terrifying. Some acolytes wondered if Zog was once a member of the Feral tribe, with how he seemed to have a way with the beasts of Mordor, but it simply wasn’t so. It was simply an odd coincidence, and one that worked oddly in his favor. It was just another reason that his acolytes were in awe of him and feared him all the same.
For whatever reason, that little monster adored their master, and though they couldn’t stand the beast, they forced themselves to tolerate it for his sake and his sake alone.
This was inevitable. All things of flesh eventually wither and rot away, even if he’s broken the cycle in ways never intended. Of all living things he’s encountered, Zog has only made promises to a handful of them, and most of them involved death and revenge. This was a death promise, but oh so different to the ones he’s made throughout his life.
There was something about that bat, about Pugrish, that he adored, though he was loath to admit it. He was a brutish little thing, wild and vile just as all things in Mordor are. But for whatever reason, the little devil had attached himself to Zog, and the necromancer didn’t take such privilege lightly. That is the very reason that he made such a special promise, one that he’s never made to another living creature.
For something to die of old age in such an inhospitable land is truly a feat. It was the first time Zog has seen such a thing with his own eyes, and it was an oddly… humbling experience, most definitely because it was something so dear to him that had passed. That bat outlived many things, Zog included, though a necromancer never truly dies, and he was now experiencing one of the many drawbacks of such a feat. Out living something you care about…
He had placed Pugrish back into the cave that he first released him into. It was the only place that felt… right for him. Somewhere he felt safe. A place that should be honored by his eternal rest. Uruks rarely buried their own kind, mostly from lack of time and resources to do so. But Zog couldn’t bear to not do something for his old friend, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.
Using some rocks to mark his grave, Zog left a small, carved trinket behind. Nothing large or intricate, just something to mark the importance of this place. He had carved a few words on a flattened stone that he had found not far from where he originally found Pugrish. It read “A feral bastard and treasured companion” and nothing more. That’s what he was. A bastard and a friend…
Zog was going to miss that old bat for the rest of his miserable existence, but he wouldn’t bring him back. He somehow loved that bat more than he loves himself, and he wouldn’t dare force suffering onto something so beloved such as he. Even if it broke what remained of his shattered heart.

Also reblog if you are interested in these things because I don't have disenchantment fans as followers.
I just finished the last episode and before watching it, I thought about all the possible things that could influence the last episode and then it didn't explain any of them. I do have more questions too.
Like is there a connection between Bad Bean and Freckles.
The dept to Hell was RE paid. How many times did the family lineage of Dagmar's marry their eldest daughter to him? Or did they all promise to marry one of them to him someday.
How did Maru have ''natural'' magic to begin with?
How old is Malfus and where did he find the eternity pendant?
When Freckles said he is Bean's brother, Zog didn't say anything to deny that. When he said that he is just a poor bastard, did he mean it literally? If so, how could he have been Bean's ''back up''.
Why are the mermaids interested in going to Moon? Because of the association between the sea and Moon, or something deeper?
Why did Dagmar and Big Jo stay alive after all the deadly incidents?
Is Jester/Jest-O really an elf like in Bean's dream?
When Bean touched the knife in the mermaid skeleton, she saw scenes from the battle of falling water: who was the person using magic in that fight?

btw for what it's worth i think the czech republic could afford to be less hawkish on the eternal israeli-arab conflict, though i do think always voting in israel's favor at the UN along with its greatest allies: the US, vanuatu, and the federation of micronesia is funny and they should keep doing that because the UN is an unserious organization. i think this might be a form of begging for a zog which will never happen. not very chic

A Chance Meeting (for dirtymeanuruk)
I really like Crane and her brothers, so I wanted to write a little something for them involving my Hûra. It's purely self indulgent fluff but I hope you like it @dirtymeanuruk 💕
Crane and her Brothers belong to @dirtymeanuruk and Hûra belongs to me~
xxx
On one of the many well traveled roads of Mordor, Crane and her brothers have met many different Uruks in their bid to spread the word of Zog the Eternal’s cult. Many look at them with disdain, many avert their eyes- perhaps in fear or disgust. Few show interest in what the greatest cult in Mordor has to offer. And even fewer still simply pass them by, paying them no heed as they continue on their own journey.
But to meet an uruk like him…
A simple, humble traveler, they thought, in a plain, well-covering garb that didn’t show much of anything to his physical appearance. Even the lower portion of his face was covered and his hood pulled over his head, though there was a harsh wind that could chill even the most hardy of the uruk-hai to the bone. He seemed as though he would pass them without incident and without giving them much acknowledgment. That was until they were mere steps away from one another, and the stranger glanced their way and gave a curt nod.
Something about him was nagging Crane. She couldn’t quite place the why, but she quickly turned on her heel and rapidly walked towards the uruk with her brothers looking uncomfortable and hissing their concerns to her under their breath.
“What are you doing?!”
“Sister, wait-!“
“Um-“ The taller Uruk’s steps faltered and Crane was overcome with a feeling of dread and awkwardness as he turned to face her.
‘Um’? Really? That’s how you start a dialogue with a stranger?
Crane suddenly felt small as he stood a few feet away, not saying a word and only partially facing her. One of her brothers elbowed her in the ribs and she instinctively elbowed him back, which initiated a shoving match between her younger brothers when they bumped into the other.
The stranger raised a hand, which caused the three young Uruks to bristle and to fall silent and still. What was he going to do? Strike them? Wave them off? Something else? They didn’t know why, but they felt as though they were suddenly struck by something unknown that was piercing them to their core. The stranger pulled down his mask with his thumb and forefinger as he shook off his hood.
“Yes? Whatever is the matter, little pups? Lost, are we? Or, perhaps, you wish to discuss a matter, hmm?” His voice was soft but it wasn’t weak. He sounds like a captain… Crane and her brothers were taken aback as long, black locks tied back into a braid fell from his hood, though what really caught their attention were his eyes.
Not terribly unusual for an uruk, sharp pupils that focus on them intently and irises reminiscent of every story, description and song composed in the glory of the Dark Lord’s visage. Intimidating and also alluring, it felt as though he was looking into them, searching for something hidden to the average uruk. He blinked at them, turning to face them fully, shoulders relaxed but legs tensed as he waited for their response. Crane stuttered, flustered and unsure of what she was even going to say to him in the first place.
“Erm- S-Sir? Haa… Have- Are y-you a- er- in- t-the-?” What was she even trying to say?! Her brothers would have laughed if they didn’t share the exact feelings their sister felt. If they’re lucky, they’ll all laugh about this later…
The stranger looked them up and down, face neutral. His eyes lingered on the amulet that was around Crane’s neck before they focused back onto her face. What was he thinking? She couldn’t tell, he was tactfully blank in his expression and it was making her nervous. Though… he hasn’t done anything yet. His greeting was even… cordial? Crane shifted from foot to foot, uncomfortable with the silence.
“Hrmm… Acolytes of Zog, are we?” The three uruks were taken aback. He knew of Zog? They still couldn’t see any sort of expression on his face, as though it was simply a declarative, neutral statement, a fact and nothing more.
“Wha-? Y-Yes… h-how did you-?” The stranger’s eyes flicked down at Crane’s amulet once more and this time she followed his gaze.
“The cult of Zog grows every day…” Long, painted claws gingerly pluck the amulet from Crane’s collar bone. She sucks in a breath, unsure of what to expect. Zog has many enemies and she and her brothers could have very well ran directly into one. No…
She ran directly into one… Her brothers were unwilling tagalongs. Her heart skipped a beat as she weighed her options. Can she fight him? No, likely not… Can she at least slow him down…? She had to try… Crane bristled as her amulet slipped from his fingers and gently landed back on her chest.
“To have such fine, young uruks under his wing…” His amber eyes studied her brothers behind her, and Crane shuffled back a little, uncomfortable. He smiled a little.
“The greatest necromancer in Mordor is truly lucky, though I doubt very much he is privy to this fact.” The uruk took a step back as he looked over them once more. Crane could only blink in surprise as she dared to look back at her brothers, who shared her look of bewilderment.
He not only knows of Zog, but he also speaks highly of him…? Who exactly is this uruk? Crane had a question on the tip of her tongue but she swallowed it when a cry of a crow pierced her ears. One of her brothers cried out in surprise as the bird flew directly over his head, slowing its flight so it could land delicately on the stranger’s shoulder.
The three watched awkwardly as the uruk conversed with the bird, quietly enough that they couldn’t quite make out what he was saying as the distance between him and they grew with each step he took.
Crane and her brothers waited for what must have been hours (though it was likely only a few minutes) for that uruk to get a head start on them so they (hopefully) wouldn’t see or run into him again while they were traveling. At first they remained silent, paranoid as to exactly who they ran into on the road and what he could or would do to them should their paths cross again. But they couldn’t stay quiet for long. Not after how bizarre that encounter was.
“Who was he?!”
“Was he another acolyte?”
“Nah, no way! He’s talking about Zog like he’s an other!”
“But he talked highly of him!”
“What’s with that damn bird that nearly hit me though?!”
“With how wide open your jaw was, I can’t believe it didn’t fly right into your mouth!”
They laughed then, but it wasn’t until much, much later that they learned exactly who they met on the road that day. It was just a few casual conversations at an outpost that they weren’t even a part of, but one of Crane’s brothers picked up on the subject of those conversations. And he couldn’t believe what he was hearing!
“Listen!! Remember that weirdo we met on the road way back? With the eyes and the bird- the crow?!”
Crane rolled her eyes. “Yeah? How could I forget? I’m still looking over my shoulder whenever we-” Her brother cut her off.
“Yeah, yeah- Look! That uruk?! It was the Bone Shaman!!” Crane opened her mouth but quickly blinked and did a double take.
“What?! No! It- REALLY?!” She couldn't believe it. Her other brother couldn’t believe it, either, but the other bounced on his heels and nodded, excitedly.
“It was him!! The eyes, the hair, the crow!!” The other brother spoke up.
“But… where’s his bones at?” Crane jabbed him in the ribs.
“He’s gotta have them in his bags you glob!” His eyes widened as the colour rose to his cheeks.
“We… We met the Bone Shaman…! WE MET THE BONE SHAMAN-! OWW!” His brother elbowed him as he hissed for him to keep his voice down and he shoved him back. Crane didn’t even care that they were acting like fools and embarrassing her, for once.
The Bone Shaman…
The Bone Shaman talked to her! He touched her!! A famous shaman associated himself with her… Even if it was for a brief moment… Crane couldn’t believe it! She felt giddy and lightheaded. No one is going to believe this! She can’t wait to rub this in the other acolytes’ faces! She met a famous uruk!!
Crane only wishes that she knew this at the time so she could have asked him a few more questions… like how he knew of Zog and what he thought of their master. Maybe someday she’d get that chance… or maybe not. Mordor is such a big and wild place she’s likely never to meet him again….

I was just talking to @space-arsonist about this when looking at Zog’s arm.
His torso and armour disappeared while his arms remained.
I proposed that because the torso (and the head) are important and vital parts of the body that perhaps they “disappear” first and also reform first, with limbs appearing afterwards should they have been removed by an external force.
For his armour, I thought it could be a similar case to Talion. The Gravewalker’s gear is reformed with him unless it is stolen by an outside force before he completely dies (think the olog that breaks his sword in a humiliation attempt). Zog keeps his armour and weapons (and/or anything else) unless it is destroyed or stolen before his death.
Finally we know what Zog's hands look like

Die Skaáhurii Echoes of Eternity - Kapitel 1
"Commander Narmari, bitte kommen Sie herein.
"Pass auf was du sagst!

War is a Matter of Perspective
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/IFLljRE
by Razlozheny
It has been three years since the orcs of Mordor last encountered the ranger of the black gate. Three years filled with hushed whisperings about the ‘Gravewalker’, fearing the wraith might return to haunt the battlefields of Mordor. And for three years there was nothing. Ironically, he had vanished like a ghost.
Little did they know, sequestered within the chambers of ancient Mount Doom, their fears lurked and prepared. The Gravewalker would haunt Mordor again and a Bright Lord would come to purge the Shadow Lands.
This is a retelling of the story of Shadow of War from the perspectives of the orcs, rather than that pesky ranger (though he will make plenty of appearances.) Expect backstabbing, bloodshed, power-plays, pettiness, cruelty, tribal politics, warfare, and a smidge of comradery.

And he is the back up in case Bean what? is Guci's soul in Scruffles for some reason, why did Dagmar want Bean to wear the crown for all the seasons only to skoop out her brain and put it on her head in the end.
